Memories that I still keep in the back of my mind regarding crossover skills between sports...the wall climbing place I used to go to (I go to a new one now) had a parkour set, with a web rope and gymnastics blocks and soft landing pads. I am not good at parkour but I liked flopping around on the landing pads and throwing myself at the blocks and swinging on the bars.
When I was there, a guy was trying to land a forward cartwheel & flip and he would get almost all the way there and then eat shit (it was very funny to watch,) and one of the reasons he kept eating shit was because he'd keep his head ? In a weird spot? I'm not entirely sure how to describe it, but I looked at it and it just. Clicked in my head that he wasn't spot-picking.
So in ballet when you do turns you pick a spot as you are turning and then whip your head around and hit that same looking spot. It allows neater turns and better balance.
And he'd tried, I'm not kidding, like, twenty or thirty times by this point. And every time he'd done it I'd seen him do the head thing. Not tuck in. Not spot.
So I was like. Hey. I know I can't do what you're doing, and I don't know if this is your actual problem, but I think maybe this technique from my dance lessons may help you get fully through your somersault?
And like. He didn't have to trust me. I was like 20! But he did pull his head in and spotted, and flipped (and landed!) and whenever I think about that I think about the crossover in skills between different sports, in getting one skill that makes you better at something so entirely unrelated and how sometimes you don't even realise that something you've learnt somewhere else helps you with this new thing. Which I just think is so cool! And so fun! And how many other physical skills do people have and learn that exist in crossover? Did this ballet technique help him land better in the future too? It fascinates and delights me. New things influenced by old knowledge.
Anyway knowing about the teenage mutant ninja turtles just helped me identify a fraud case at work. 🫡✌️

Very amused that people who don't know me at all read apparently half of what I posted earlier on I/P and decided my take that "I don't support any nation state and think we should do away with all of them but since this is the system we currently have it's decidedly antisemitic to single out Israel as The One To Destroy Above All Others and we should instead support peace and safety for both Israelis and Palestinians" is equivalent to "genocide is good actually." Like I know this is tumblr, aka the "piss on the poor" reading comprehension website but also like, idk, maybe learn to read before yelling at random people online and accusing them of supporting genocide? Also for the record, it's *really fucking weird and antisemitic* to yell at random Jews on the internet and accuse them of supporting genocide because they have Opinions You Personally Disagree With.
You can, in fact, simply block people who's takes you don't like. It's free! And easy! You hit the three dots at the top of the post, it opens a drop down menu and you select "block". Now the person who you think has Bad and Evil Opinions™️ will never show up in tags for you again! Problem solved! They might, unfortunately, show up on your dashboard if someone you follow reblogs something they posted or added to, because tumblr is slightly broken in that regard, but you will be saved from their opinions in tags. And they won't be able to interact with you! And there's even a handy feature you can use to hide *all* content they've ever made/posted, even stuff you're dearly beloved mutual who thinks they're cool reblogs. You just, blacklist the username. Now they will show up as filtered content and you have to manually unhide any post that mentions their username in any way, saving you from the Opinions You Don't Like. And they're free to continue *their* internet experience without you yelling at them for tagging things with something that is a general filter/sort/information tag simply because *you* think their opinions are Bad and Don't Belong There.

okay but actually i think one of my favorite things about mob psycho is that. mob is very autistic coded, right? but he's just. he's a normal kid and he has so many friends and everyone loves him!! when he wants to get in the top 10 in the school marathon, no one tells him that's an impossible goal; they all try their best to help him train and encourage him every step of the way! he isn't the butt of the joke, and even when reigen does try to tell him he's misreading things and the people he thinks are his friends aren't actually his friends, that is 1. proven not to be true, 2. not portrayed as a funny haha joke moment, and 3. reigen faces consequences for saying it. mob is autistic coded, and no one treats him any differently for it. it's just one of the many things that makes mob who he is, and no one dwells on it. and it's so nice to see a character who, in pretty much any other show, would be an awkward loner and a loser and an outcast, have so many real friends. mob isn't popular, he's awkward, he doesn't always read situations correctly, he's a middle school boy who has never fit in with his peers. but he has so many friends and so many people who care about him and maybe he's not the most popular boy at school but he has more real friends than tsubomi, who is clearly the most popular girl, and at the end of the day, popularity doesn't matter. being happy does, and mob is happy. like,, it's refreshing to see a school friend dynamic where there's a middle ground between "popular" and "social outcast" and it's also so nice to see a neurodivergent-coded character treated just like any other middle school kid in the show. he's no different because of his autism. it's just a character trait

donald’s singing scene where it fades to a regular singing voice got me emotional dawg DAISY IS SO RAD TOO. this episode makes me insane i need to cry and explode and die in a corner rn
like the way that so many of donald’s frustrations come from no one understanding him but he loves his band and wants to sing with them and. AND. AND!!!!1!2!! he just needs to be given the opportunity and encouragement to do so. everyone shut up my unintelligible cartoon duck with anger issues is rasping his heartfelt and grating lament and i am ALL here for it

you are objectively correct. foa is amazing. thank you for introducing me to this Masterpiece. it feels like a warm hug playing it.
IS IT NOT JUST!!!!!! foa just sticks out to me as being a comforting game, just because it feels so loving towards its 'outcast' cast, who are all so incredible!!!! the kindness they show towards the pc, and how eventually the pc slowly joins their chosen family !!!! it's got a very lovely slowburn element to it too, and the ending feels earned, but still open to what's next !!!!!!!!!!!! i need foa 2 fr and i'm so glad that i got you to play it omg <3 :)

Thinkin about the POTS episode I had at a weed shop once like 5 years ago (well before I knew i had it. I thought i was just dehydrated) in which I passed out in the arms of the cute desk clerk who actually happened to also be an EMT and he knew I was passing out well before I did.
I remember sweating and being embarrassed because of how bad I was struggling to get my sweater off, couldn't stand straight, I was slurring my words and not fully understanding him. Last thing I remember was him deadass leaping over the desk after asking me if I needed to sit down (really hot of him). I'm quite sure he caught me because when I fall I definitely feel it later
It's a super humiliating disability to have but he definitely knew how to make it easier and feel less awful. I was halfway through my sweater when I went down but it was folded next to me and he was holding a cup of water for me until I came to. He was really wholesome and just left the desk and sat with me, tried to make me feel normal about it and distract me from people's wandering eyes and was just really chill. I don't think I was out for more than a few seconds but I definitely would've eaten shit if anyone else was helping me check out. Most people would not in fact jump over the counter to make sure a guy they don't know didn't crack his head open. But he's probably seen horrible things happen to people who didn't have someone there to catch them
I hope he's doing well, I was way too out of it to remember his name but I remember him being really chill and funny, being lighthearted about it to cheer me up. I'd smoke a bowl with him idk. He seemed like such a genuinely good person, didn't go back to his shift until he was sure I'd be okay and even then told me to take my time and call him over if I needed anything (dispensaries are often very particular making sure you're in and out and control the amount of people in there at once). Told me how I should breathe, how I should sit, and it's stuff I do when I have POTS episodes to this day
