SHIT I FORGOT ABOUT FREAKBLR MONTH SORRY
OK OK I'll just do both days I missed and today's prompt as wlel
Tumblr media
Day 13 - a headcanon I have about a member of the jomies
I'm not sure what this exactly entails? Do I just go off and start ranting about each of the jomies or only one??? Ermmm idk I'll just do a bit for all of them (I'll save the sexuality and gender hcs for day 30 ofc)
Drew - Filipino (since his VA is as well), gift giving is his love language and others appreciating his money and gifts make him feel needed cuz his parents always showed him love with money but we're neglectful otherwise yada yada ya get the gist. has an expansive watch but not to check the time (he has his phone for that, which he's on 24/7) but just to show off and also appreciate what his parents give him cuz otherwise he doesn't feel wanted or maybe he feels like a drag idk I'm.spouting random shit rn.. had major depressive disorder. and possibly borderline personality disorder? not diagnosed w anything ofc. He loves feeling needed so when Jake found the music club who he obviously got along w better and that maybe appreciated him and accepted him more for who he is and when he realized Zoey's been cheating on him w someone that provided him w money and other stuff... yeah. loves raspberries. And also loves a bit of rap and maybe some video game music. He flexes his money for status and also bc that might make him feel like he needs them and loves them and they love him. ODFKKD FIFKFKKF. IDFK. it's canon in my head. she head on my canon till I uhh I forgot the meme. he loves zoey, jake, henry, liam all so fucking much, whyd they have to lie to him? make him feel like he could trust them only for them to turn their backs on him?
Jake - half french 🥖 🍟. Has ADHD - inattentive type. Is he diagnosed ? Idfk. Also might have some form of depression as well. He wears a star earring on his right ear along w the silver earrings he's shown wearing all the time. before the finale he mostly has a mindset of "oh, if you just don't expose the unwanted truth, the relationship can work out" which is why he lied and stayed w drew and also didn't tell him abt Zoey cheating on him. like yeah ahaha it can all work out it's fine. Sonic fan bc I'm a sonic fan and I want him to be one as well . He listens to Believe In Myself (Tails theme) all the time like shut up. he HATES horror movies and games - he gets so easily startled. Jomies is his fav band.
Lia - She (and Hailey) is an Olivia Rodrigo MEGA-STAN. I'm sorry how do i.explain. her songs are way too relatable for her and are a way she kind of in secret romanticizes her lfie ???? idfk. She has a crush on Jake bc maybe she could sense he was different from the rest of the jomies...?? like that they were maybe similar (whciht they are..). Idk. Doesn't think highly of herself, is actually pretty insecure and in middle school, despite hating Zoey she felt so oddly envious of her. Everything she had. Which is why she slowly started turning herself into her. Adopting a new style. Straightening her hair. Changing her behaviour. She knew it was wrong and at first just watched by the sidelines as Zoey would torture yet another innocent soul but yeah. Hailey and her are such petty exes shut up. That's what I think anyway. also she listens to lana del rey. i have actually only listened to one lana song but is that her vibe??? idk u tell me cuz i dont. her favorite colour is purple. also she has an awesome mom and at one point vents abt hailey to her and how shes messed up so bad and how she feels guilty. and her parents are pretty rich - idk maybe theyre lawyers or smth. ever since she started faking who she is for popularity, it fucking worked. but shes willing to give up on that in s2. also god let her make up w hailey pls.
Zoey - she also got into Olivia rodrigo lately and constantly talk abt how raw, real and girlbossy her music is while also kindaaa missing the point and emotional meaning of some of her songs. her family always make her feel extremely out of control and hopeless and theyre pretty abusive but zoey doesnt have the right language to explain it and she calls herself girlboss, puts herself above everyone else, cares a ton about her status and wants to be both loves and feared and even goes so far as to cheat on her cuz she has a messed up idea of what actual love is - and that is the way she gains control and the feeling of love, which she has a superficial idea of. and she feels Lesser at home but makes up for it at school. shes obviously popular but most people are just genuinely afraid of what shed do if they opposed her or if she didnt like them. though she still upholds a pretty great reputation and has many friends that love her and treat her like a goddess, at least thats what she thinks. might have NPD? but she aint diagnosed w anything. genuinely cares abt people and loves them but doesnt really Know.? She tries impressing the people she cares about so thatd they have a high opinion of her cuz shes SO fucking desparate for that kind of attention and praise, especially from the people shes closer to, cuz she doesnt get that at home. she also puts unrealistic beauty standards on herself. she loves drew. she loves lia. them? being absent from her life in s2 onward? haha what what do you mean she doesnt care. she didnt need them anyway. cuz shes such an independent girlboss an all yknow. haha. totally. she cheats on tests and otherwise doesnt pay attention to anything. she puts others down to feel above them. her favorite season is summer and she loves boba tea. anyway shell def go insane ik it. also for all the reasons ive given she DESPISES being genuinely vulnerable - it makes her feel lesser and weaker and like anyone cuold take adventage of her. but she will ACT cute and vulnerable and hurt to get what she wants, especially outta drew.
Henry - weeb since early childhood, MHA ultimate fan, chronig gamer (bad at it), masks his negative emotions by just playing the role of the "funny guy". i saw someone hc he has a lettuce fetish and that makes me wanna kill m- the world.
Liam - Mom is usamerican, dad is Serbian (why serbian? cuz hes so vampire coded (his fav colour is canoncally blood red and his fav drink is canonically red blood) and the word vampire comes from the serbian word vampir, and also the mythology kinda comes from around here too. idk) only knows a couple swear words in serbian though and thats it. hes horrible at serbian pronounciationn though cuz he grew up in usa his whole life. Aspec w internalized aphobia.aroflux? idk. chronic gamer (not THAT bad at it). actually more intelligent and emotionally mature than others give him credit for (THOUGH dont get mme wrong he still is pretty reckless). might have adhd? idk. but has horrible grades cuz he doesnt really pay attention to school. giant (tall). reddit user.
IM SO SORRY IF THATS NOW WHAT U MEANT BY THIS DAY. BC IT PROBABLY ISNT. i dont really care
THERES MORE but I don't have time I gotta catch up !!!
anyway I think I accidentally swallowed a bit of dust + dirt. again. throat.not feel good

pairing: Xavier Plympton x Reader

part 2
Tumblr media
You scrambled out of the van, staring up at the faded sign of Camp Redwood. Your friends were laughing as they gathered their belongings, but you were too busy observing the abandoned murder sight from over thirty-years ago. You had read countless books and television documentaries of what transpired here. It was odd seeing it in all of its run-down glory.
"y/n! Catch!"
You turned just as your friend Winter tossed your bag of belongings. You caught it with one hand, shouldering it, while still looking around. As interested as you were in both massacres that occurred here, it wasn't your idea to choose it as a camping site. Your friends were real crime buffs, and this was their next stop, but taking it to the next level by staying overnight seemed a little much to you.
Winter trailed next to you, followed by Riley and Dorothy, who trailed behind with their phones at the ready. You stepped over the piles of leaves, tripping over random holes in the ground as Winter teased you.
"This place is awesome!" Riley said, taking a picture of a cabin with boarded-up windows and graffiti. "Why didn't we come here sooner?"
"I wanted to go to Briarcliff," Winter said, "After all the bodies they found there a few years ago, no fucking way!"
The four of you walked around, taking pictures, and enjoying the California sunshine on your skin. You and Winter had moved here for school almost four years ago now, meeting Riley and Dorothy in one of your classes. You were not looking forward to moving back to Michigan after graduation.
You had found a decent place by the lake, the one rumored to be bottomless. Riley wanted to sleep in one of the cabins, but most were boarded up entirely and inaccessible. It seemed like you'd be setting up the tents you brought instead.
Winter urged you to take off your clothes to swim. The swimsuit you were wearing was from the Summer before, but it still felt nice. You laid in the sun while the others tested the waters, yelling that it was cold, and their nipples were hard.
Out of the corner of your eye, you saw movement in the woods surrounding the lake. It was very brief, but you knew you saw a dark purple shirt and shorts. You sat up, squinting against the sunlight. There was nothing there.
"y/n! Come and swim with us!" Dorothy splashed water your way, barely reaching the towel you laid out on.
You glanced back toward the woods, seeing a bird hopping along the ground for some food. You stood up, preparing to jump in with the girls. It was ridiculous, it was only the four of you here.
***
Some hours later, the coolers had been drug out onto the sand, and drinks were being passed around. Your belly was full from dinner, and you laughed as Dorothy and Riley were talking about how hot Captain America is.
"I'm gonna use the bathroom," you set down your drink, standing up. Winter laid sprawled out beside you, singing a Lana Del Rey song under her breath.
You grabbed the small bag of toiletries you had brought, planning on finding a bush to use. You felt slightly embarrassed, never imagining that you'd be relieving yourself surrounded by nature. The sun was starting to set, and very few lights worked around the camp. You fumbled with your phone, about to turn on the flashlight when-
"What's that in your hand?" You screamed, dropping your bag and phone, turning around to see a young woman with the blondest hair you had ever seen. She smirked at you, and you realized she had a striking resemblance to Winter.
"Who are you?" you wheezed, bending down and grabbing your stuff, keeping your eyes on her.
"I'm Montana!" she outstretched her hand towards you, "I'm a frequent visitor,"
You hesitantly shook her hand, seeing that she was kept nicely. "N-Nice to meet you, I'm y/n,"
"What are you holding?" she asked again, gesturing towards your phone.
"It's my phone, haven't you seen one?" you laughed lamely, showing her your smartphone.
"May I?" she asked. You hesitated before placing it in her hand. You watched as she toyed with it, her mouth falling open as you heard a random YouTube video playing. "This isn't a phone!" she exclaimed as she simultaneously smacked the screen a few times.
You were very confused as she handed it back to you. You forgot you were fighting the urge to pee yourself. Montana noticed the look on your face and grinned, before looking directly behind you. "Xavier!"
"What's going on over here?" you whirled around, starting to panic, thinking you were being ambushed. You saw a man wearing a plum shirt and shorts, a perfectly sculpted tuft of dirty blond hair on top of his head. You were entranced by his striking blue eyes that brightened at the sight of you.
"I'm talking to my new friend, y/n!" Montana grinned, "She's very nice, check out her phone!"
Xavier stepped closer to you, craning his neck as you showed him with a trembling hand. Montana was telling him about the random video that was playing, and he looked interested.
"Are you guys camping here too?" you asked finally, interrupting them when Montana wondered if you'd be able to find Aerobics tapes on them.
"You could say that," Xavier smirked at you. "Is this your first time here?"
"Yeah, I came with my friends," you nodded. Montana was grinning oddly at the two of you.
"You wanna hang out? You could tell me more about this device," Xavier handed your phone back that was running low on battery life.
You looked at the eager looks on their faces. Off in the distance, you could still hear your girls talking and laughing, probably getting drunk as you speak. A few minutes wouldn't hurt.
"I'd love that." you smiled.
***
The sun had set as you sat with Xavier and Montana under one of the only working lights in the camp. The subject changed from your phone to the current president, all the way to what exercises were popular. As odd as you found their questions, Xavier explained in a rather flat tone that they were people of nature and had quite the Amish existence.
Montana left after a while, talking about some guy named Trevor, leaving you alone with Xavier. He seemed very comfortable around you, which made you feel slightly better. He kept a safe distance, asking you about your life and the friends you came with. Xavier listened intently, a look of confusion appearing every once in a while when you mentioned social media.
He has to have some idea of what things are like now, you thought to yourself.
The more you spoke with him, the more he felt familiar to you. You couldn't quite put your finger on why or how. You never met someone like him; his beauty was one of the ages. He told you about his life before they moved out here, saying he was a gym instructor and was trying to break out into the acting scene that never worked out.
"It's getting cold," you commented, still wearing your tank top and shorts from earlier. Your now dead phone and bag sat at your feet.
"I'm sorry for keeping you this long," Xavier said, rubbing the back of his neck. His earring sparkled in the moonlight. "You can-"
"Y/N!" voices called your name, some louder than others. You had jumped, standing up from your spot on the wooden stairs when Xavier froze in his place.
"I'm over here!" you called, seeing flashlights heading in your direction. You saw Winter first, as she spotted you and skipped over, her cheeks flushed after the alcohol she consumed.
"There you are!" she gasped, bringing you in for a hug - a clumsy one at that. "WE WERE SO WORRIED!"
"Yeah, y/n, you've been gone for like an hour," Riley said.
"I'm sorry you guys, I was just talking to Xavier and Montana," you explained.
The three girls gave you a questioning look, despite being intoxicated. Winter stared at you, "Who?"
You frowned, pointing behind you with your thumb, "I met a camper, his name is Xavier-" you had turned around, only to stop in your tracks where the seat he once sat in was now empty. "Wait!"
"y/n, y/n, y/n, are you high?" Winter snorted at you. "There's nobody else here!"
You turned around now, looking for a sign that you weren't making this up. There were no footprints, no butt marks on the seats beside your own, nothing. You stuttered, attempting to explain who was sitting with you while your friends gave you concerned stares.
"I think you've had a long day!" Dorothy cooed, gently grabbing your arm. "Let's go back to camp! We have a long day tomorrow!"
You grabbed your stuff, your mind reeling as you followed them back to camp. You glanced behind you one last time, not seeing either of your new friends anywhere.
You woke up bright and early the next day, quietly creeping around as you changed into your new clothes. You made some breakfast, the little fire providing some much-needed warmth. You had shared a tent with Winter, who hogged most of the blankets. You gazed around, trying to spot Xavier and Montana, but they were nowhere to be found.
You unplugged your phone from the battery pack you brought, thinking if you got a picture with at least one of them, they'd believe you. You made sure the fire was kept low before setting off.
The sound of small animals and birds was the only thing you could hear now that the girls were asleep. Xavier and Montana never explicitly said where they were standing. They couldn't be that far away from you.
You stopped walking, looking off in the distance, and seeing the incredible hills and valleys surrounding the camp. You took a few pictures, smiling at the beauty of it all when you heard what sounded like a branch creaking above you.
You looked up, seeing nothing.
You took a few steps away, hiding under the shade as you continued to admire your surroundings. It wasn't long before you heard it again, looking up with a scowl when-
"CAWWWWW!"
You screamed when a towering figure jumped down, threatening to squash you. You dodged it just in time, nearly tripping over a root when you heard hysterical laughter.
A young black man was holding his sides, his overalls red and clean as a whistle as he buckled over. You stared at him with wide eyes, your heart beating a mile a minute.
"Aw shit, aw shit, that was better than I could have imagined!" he cackled, before two figures appeared from behind him, laughing along. It was them.
"Ray, you could have killed her!" Xavier said through his quiet laughter.
"She's fine! Aren't you, darling!?" Ray laughed again before going into a coughing fit.
"I-I think my heart stopped for a moment," you said, starting to laugh a little yourself.
"I know what that's like." Montana sighed dreamily.
Xavier gave her a comical look, before turning his attention to you. "Don't mind her, she's one of the most morbid people I know."
You smiled a bit, shaking Ray's hand when he offered it to you.
"You're friends, I take it," you said, before realizing how stupid it sounded.
"For a long time," Ray tossed an arm around Xavier's shoulder, who shrugged it off. "Tough love..." he mumbled.
"Come on, Ray, let's leave them," Montana said, now putting her arm around Ray, leading him away. Ray waved at you before making kissy faces at Xavier, who glared at him.
"I'm sorry about him, he can be a little much," Xavier smiled awkwardly.
"Where did you go last night?" you questioned. Xavier's face immediately fell, looking towards the scene you were previously admiring.
"I get a little nervous around people, anxiety, you know?" Xavier replied.
"Oh," you frowned, deciding not to push him any further. "I'm sorry if my friends scared you off, they can be loud when they're drunk,"
Xavier laughed at that, taking a seat in the dirt. You were surprised at this, as his appearance always seemed to be impeccable. You followed him, crossing your legs as you strained your neck to glance down at the sparkling water below.
"It's fine, I used to be like that too," he closed his eyes and inhaled deeply, "I stopped a long time ago, it didn't interest me anymore,"
Just like the night before, you started talking about many things. You once again showed Xavier your phone, attempting to bring up Instagram in what little connection you had on this side of camp. His eyes lit up when you joked about how influencers were treated like celebrities most of the time.
"You should make an account, you'd have a cult following," you laughed, making him smile.
"Maybe one day, I don't even have a Snapbook,"
"Facebook," you corrected, hiding your giggle.
"Oh, sorry," Xavier wrinkled his nose. "What's the other one?"
"Snapchat," you masked your laugh again.
"It's not polite to laugh!" Xavier teased you, squinting his eyes as you finally lost it, knowing you would remember this moment forever to tease him later.
"I'm sorry, but that was the cutest thing I ever heard anyone say," you admitted, not realizing the implications of your words.
"Oh, you think I'm cute, huh?" Xavier teased you again, "That makes two of us."
You playfully shoved him, before asking him to take a photo with you. Xavier seemed hesitant at first before you took his very first selfie. Xavier asked when the film was supposed to pop out, tapping around your phone case.
"No, no, phones don't do that," you took it from him, showing him the picture from the gallery. Xavier's jaw dropped again, and you told him to go ahead and swipe. He saw the pictures you had taken earlier, as long as a few photos of your car ride with the girls on the way here before he gave it back.
"That's unbelievable, when I was growing up they said we'd have flying cars, not phones with touch screens and cameras!"
You laughed, believing him to be joking, but Xavier really wasn't. He didn't say anything, only laughing with you to avoid the real reason why he was at Camp Redwood.
Xavier encouraged you to walk around with him, and you took turns taking photos of each other, individually and together. He got the hang of it pretty quickly, not making any burst shots after the first fix or six times.
As much as you didn't want the day to end, you had already spent nearly four hours with him. Winter had texted you, saying they had just woken up and wanted to go on a hike.
Xavier seemed to realize it was time to let you go. He led you back towards the lake, asking when you were leaving.
"We're supposed to head back tomorrow afternoon," you explained, "Our spring break is over in a few days," you sighed, thinking of all of the homework that would be piled on your desk in the coming weeks.
"You go to school here, right?" he asked, trying to remember their conversation from last night.
"Yeah, I graduate in June," you sighed, "Then it's back home to Michigan with Winter." you frowned a little, realizing Xavier would be one of the friends you'd be leaving behind now.
Xavier didn't say anything, only stopping near the same cabin you met him yesterday. He smiled at you, "Uhh, if you're free later, Ray said something about a full-moon tonight if you wanna see it." he said lamely, and you could see the amusement in his eyes.
"I'd love that!" you smiled, "I can meet you here?"
"Awesome!" Xavier smiled. You both stood there, staring at each other before Xavier finally said, "I'll see you later." you nodded, watching as he headed back the way you came. You stared until his back disappeared from view before you met your friends at the lake.

🎨 Graphic made by @indiaisstudying: India is brilliant my pals, and I recommend checking her out for studyblr/artblr inspiration. My girl tHIRIVES.
The singular takeaway from this post: Do a creative binge. Much productive than a Netflix binge. Period.
Two months ago, I reached my peak when I coined the term ‘bood day’ (a bad to good day, in my article How To Flip A Bad Day By 180°). Today, puppies and kittens, I present to you— a creative binge.
*crickets chirping, that one dude in the audience scratches his nose and turns away*
…This one actually works but okay, we get it, y'all are bitches. But gonna do my job anyway– if you're a creator reading this, please do a creative binge at least once every two weeks.
I started doing these binges two months ago, and I've seen a VAST improvement in my creative energy. I feel my commercial voice coughing and saying hello to the mic, so before I start listing side-effects for a sponsored pill, let's dive into the basics.
🍵 Quick PSA —
↪ JOIN MY TAGLIST? If you aren't on this yet, please get on it, it'll mean a lot to me! By joining, you get a new article on lifestyle design & productivity every week.
100 Days of Sweat: This challenge starts TOMORROW (10th of April), so if you wanna hustle on your bod this year, join us! Accountability does crazy things.
Tumblr media
Ever questioned your life, experienced writer's block, painter’s pain or blogger’s… block? (Narrator: aaaand she's back to advertising.) A creative binge helps deal with fixing exactly that.
“A creative binge is based off the equation of quality in = quality out.”
A lot of creators feel that they're supposed to magically create out of their head, and that's just ridiculous. It's ludicrous considering you don't know shit, read shit, do shit and watch shit.
Even to write fiction, my pal, you'll have to expose yourself to the world to know its ways, read great books and take tips (not to mention stock up on coffee, and prepare to cry a lot) before you start cranking out the pages. Everything you create is ultimately inspired by the Ways Of The World. (And that's a fantastic novel title)
So in short, you’ve got to consume content, to make content. And in a creative binge, you conscious choose content that'll help you create. Genius, I know!
Okay, but what if I'm not a creator?
Brilliant question! Wanna become more valuable and leave the people you interact with better? Take a creative binge.
Allow me an elaboration: Take a janitor and a neurosurgeon. The said janitor is paid much less than the neurosurgeon. Why is that? Is the neurosurgeon a better person? That's debatable. Is the janitor less efficient at his work? Again, debatable. The primal reason lies in the neurosurgeon acquiring more valuable skills than the janitor. Society rewards them by paying more since there are less folks who can do what the neurosurgeon does.
To recap: In order to be indispensable in the role you play (whatever it is, a student, calligrapher, CEO of the Janitor Club), you HAVE to become valuable. Grow your curiosity & know more than yo’ buddies (also bring more value than anybody else). And to become valuable, you consume value. Tada!
(And if you still ain't convinced, I'll pull out the Netflix card. You'd really rather watch shows? Or binge YouTube? Than learn a new skill, or develop existing ones? Question your priorities, my friend. Victims love entertainment, victors love learning.)
Tumblr media
Cool, you're joining in then! Not that creative binge is NOT an entertainment binge. It's a value providing binge. What you ‘consume’ has to bring you something in return— whether that's creative inspiration, motivation or skills. *Swing arms* yup! We’re one gay, productive household. Someone remind Hallie to buy the groceries though, the Cheerios are going mouldy.
By my dictionary, a creative binge is a slot of time, 1½ to 3 hours I'd say, when you watch/read/listen to some good stuff.  Basically, binge content.
THE 101 OF A CREATIVE BINGE
🌿 Basics:
I conduct one every week (usually Wednesday mornings), lasting around 1½ to 2 hours.
I'll also keep a notepad and a pen nearby, to take notes and jot ideas as they come. Again, this is NOT an entertainment binge, even though it's a chill job.
Sometimes I'll get passive things done (like wiping my desk, eating breakfast and taking out textbooks) while watching. We maximize our time.
🌿 What Do I Watch:
The stuff I watch falls into 3 categories: creative/humor (for inspiration), business/skills (for skills) & motivation (for, um, motivation). Fair warning though, a lot of the stuff these folks make overlap, but that's alright. This is just a rough demarcation.
Creative/Humor: some YesTheory, maybe some MacDoesIt, sprinkle in some Ryan Higa, perhaps an episode of a show with an amazing script, some stand-up comedy from my favorites. Or maybe trash that and just watch Sherlock. (Geez, Netflix, I hate you, I love you.)
Skills: Gary Vee, some artist channels, that random video on how to thrift shop even though I don't shop.
Motivation: Be Inspired, Tom Bilyeu, Mel Robbins and random videos which look nice.
🌿 What Do I Listen To:
Oof, I love music tremendously! If you're a pal, you know it's time to RUN when I come around being like, “soo, I was wondering what's your favourite–”.
Yet, during a creative binge, I'll only listen to stuff that 1) inspires me, or 2) is creative in a way I can't explain. Some recommendations!
Hype music:
The Score
NF
Imagine Dragons
Creative music:
Billie Eilish
Lana Del Rey
Sleeping At Last
Lorde
Conan Gray
Harry Styles
🌿 What Do I Read:
Usually the book that I'm reading at that point if I'm being lazy.
POETRY: It's my belief, but poetry is a writer's most powerful device. There's a novel to be said in a simple sonnet.
FICTION: I dig great fiction. PS, please read (and sob over) Away Childish Things, by @letteredlettered. It changed me as a person, changed my entire perspective about kids. I'm much kinder and softer now, and my pimples are gone. I'll literally never get over drarry too, so thanks lettered, love you.

Getting to Know...
Lial.
'Ophelia' is the latest, and final, single to be taken from upcoming London electronic-pop artist Lial’s forthcoming Made to Break EP which follows on June 12.
'Ophelia' is a song about imbalances within a relationship, and more widely an exploration of the universal human condition of wanting what you cannot have.
'Ophelia' encompasses aspects of Lial’s previous singles, the shimmering electronic-pop of 'Embers' and the Låpsley compared dark hypnotic charms of 'Dirty Little Lies'. However, Ophelia casts an even more spellbinding web, blending pulsating downtempo beats with a subtle piano melody - the result is an enticing, melancholy-tinged earworm for those who like their ‘pop’ on the darker, more sophisticated side.
Lial’s alluring, emotive vocal delivery touches on Lana Del Rey’s dichotomy of presenting as both the seductive hunter and the heart-torn hunted, mirroring perfectly her lyrical exploration of human psychology, love and desire on the songs from the forthcoming Made to Break EP.
We had a quick chat with Lial al about the new EP, her influences and more. Read the Q&A below.
Let’s start from the beginning.. Please tell us a bit about yourself and what it was that led you to make music.
"My dad introduced me to music very early on, as he was massively into the Beatles, had an amazing singing voice and played guitar - there was always music playing in the house. I was then obsessed with music as a child - I think there’s a certain breed of kids that just get super into it early. For me that looked like spending all my money on CDs and stereos, and listening non stop to albums over and over, always having headphones in your ears. I started singing pretty early and after very briefly working in music management decided to transition into being an artist. It took a while to find my sound but electronic pop really resonates with me right now."
Who/what are your biggest influences?
"I actually listen to a massive range of music, including guitar based indie pop - as a child bands and artists like Garbage, Skunk Anansie, Kings of Leon, Alanis…but I am now influenced more by artists using more electronic instruments to explore sounds. Lana del Rey has probably been my biggest influence on my current sound, with other artists like Banks, Sohn, some of Sia’s early stuff, and Låpsley’s early work."
You're gearing up to release your second EP Made to Break in June. What can you tell us about the EP?
"I’m so looking forward to getting this EP out! There’s a common thread through the songs…I tend to veer towards more reflective and melancholy vibes and this EP follows that theme. The songs explore loneliness which sits right next to love, tucked up beside it. The song ‘Just Say It’s Over’ probably epitomises that the most…when you’re with someone but no longer connected like you were, it’s agony but you’re stuck in limbo until you rip the plaster off. The song ‘Made to Break’ is a kind of acceptance of that - heart break is inevitable and you cannot escape the pain that comes with love."
How does Made to Break differ from Heart Scars? What was your songwriting/creative process for the new EP?
"This EP is the natural next step from Heart Scars. I’ve grown as a person and have a clearer idea of my sound as an artist and what I want. This EP was the first time I worked with producer Gregor Mcwilliam, who is a friend of my cousin. We got together and wrote Embers just to see how it turned out working together. I loved the result and approached him about working together on the EP. We just clicked sonically - he gets what I’m into, and is able to take what I am hearing in my head and bring it to life. In a session we often spend some time just listening to other cool tracks and getting a sense of the vibe before sitting down to write something. That’s why there’s a big epic feel to some of these tracks, I was listening to a lot of Lana and obsessing over some of the massive sounds she uses and random samples."
Finally, how have you been coping with the COVID-19 lockdown. Are you working on anything? And what do you have planned for when we're back to some sort of normality?
"I have some weird down days during lockdown, which I think is pretty normal, when you’re like WTF is going on with the world?!? But actually it’s been quite liberating, having normal life totally disrupted. I’ve spent more time on music than I’ve ever managed before, I think because the interruption of social life and travelling around London (which takes ages normally as it’s so massive) is now gone. I’m actually working on some new music, which I’m loving, without any pressure of a set release date, but just exploring. I’ve managed to set up a ‘live-ish’ area in my flat, where I can write and play around with ideas and plan to do some live gigs online. Once we return to normality I can’t wait to see my family and friends, and hug them! I miss hugging people, and I’m not a massively tactile person so that is saying a lot! I’m also so looking forward to restaurants, bars and crowds…a sticky dance floor, not being able to sit down in a pub…never thought I would say that but it must be the Londoner in me!"

Made to Break is out June 12.

21 questions!
thanks @imogen-theimaginedcat for tagging me!
nicknames: abbey is already a nickname for abigail, but other nicknames include crabby, ginger, and bean.
zodiac: perfect disaster of taurus sun, cancer moon, and yeah, you betcha, virgo rising. (i feel a lot of feelings and can explicitly identify them all at all times, it’s a curse.)
height: 5'4"
hogwarts house: ravenclaw sun, hufflepuff moon, slytherin rising. (i just made up this alignment chart on the fly, but it's the most accurate way of expressing my bullshit nature.)
last thing i googled: (and i'm not kidding) "outlander sex scenes how" - i was thinking more literal, like, "how the fuck do you tolerate being naked on set so much," but the answer that came up is that the scenes work because they organically fit the story and tell you something about the characters... not what i meant, but thanks anyway, internet!
favorite musicians: of all time? damien rice, kimbra, radiohead, brand new, glasser, the killers, lana del rey, the beatles, and nina simone, just to name a few. recent favorites who i think are in it for the long haul? phoebe bridgers, lucy dacus, japanese breakfast, marika hackman, moses sumney, haley heynderickx, hozier, and keaton henson. i'm sure there are more...
song stuck in my head: there are two right now... they stay down deep by giselle and no light, no light by florence + the machine.
following: (is it bad that i had to google how to figure this number out?) the answer is 84, which is less people than i thought... i need to get better at following back.
followers: 401. holy shit, i didn't realize there were that many of you reading my bitch sessions about television programs. hi, everyone!
do you get asks: when i participate in ask games and occasionally when someone wants to talk about fandom stuff, yeah. i'm always happy to get them, but i'm bad at responding in a timely fashion.
amount of sleep: currently? 3.5 hours. blame outlander and my anxiety disorder.
lucky number: i'm not sure i believe in luck, but one of my favorite numbers is 3. i like the stability of it. like a tripod.
what you're wearing: right now, i have on very ratty and cozy pajamas, because i do not plan on moving from my bed for some time. i need a nap! (my shirt is more holes than fabric at this point.)
dream job: a poet. a writer of fiction, maybe. preferably any job that exists outside of capitalism, lol. but realistically, anything that let's me escape into the world of words.
dream trip: that's impossible for me to really answer, as my thoughts change all the time. right now, thailand. i love fresh fruit and want to go somewhere hot and tropical and where the fruit is so juicy it drips down my face and neck. i want to wander markets and forests and eat fruit until i'm full.
instruments: just my voice, and even that is a bit out of practice. could probably use a tune-up.
languages: just english, much to my chagrin. i can't even say i have a loose smattering of spanish knowledge anymore, since i haven't studied it in ages. i'm crap with languages, unfortunately.
favorite songs: god, here are just a few... - smoke signals by phoebe bridgers - colour me in by damien rice - the build up by kimbra - sinnerman by nina simone - work song by hozier - apply by glasser - brooklyn baby by lana del rey - come together by the beatles but my list is literally unending.
random fact: my mom bullied me into auditioning for american idol back in college. i ended up reaching the top 200 and they flew me to los angeles where i ate a ton of avocados and room service and watched a documentary on the kings of leon. basically all of my footage got cut from the show, but it's still a weird thing to have experienced.
aesthetic: however i'm feeling. my style changes constantly. right now we're living in high-waisted shorts and crop-top land!
tagging any and all interested parties! (no obligation if you’re not interested, i’m literally just scrolling alphabetically, hahaaaa.)

Rules: answer 22 questions & tag x people you want to know better
tagged by @thebluelemontree – thank you, you beauty!
nickname(s): Not really
zodiac sign: Ummm…Aries
height: Approx 167 cm, and as expressed in bushels and kestrels, approx. 5′6″
last movie i saw: Like for realsies, as in a movie theatre? Gosh, I can’t even remember! In general, I think it was maybe ‘Wonder Woman’, which I finally watched the other night…
last thing i googled: “What is 167 Centimeters in feet and inches?” LOL! Before that, “how to set up Google alert”
favourite musician: Many, such as Florence and the Machine and Lana Del Rey, but for the sake of nostalgy, I can’t go past Kate Bush!
song stuck in my head: The hardest case of trying to shake off a tune was last week when I got Aram Khachaturian’s Waltz from Masquerade Suit in my head when I heard it in the radio in the morning – I went to work humming it, jammed to it on Spotify when doing stuff, hummed it on a lunch break…
other blogs: @nobleambrosia , my blog dedicated to Dean Ambrose and a bit more WWE…just a small thing to prevent my main blog becoming overcrowded with those posts! [EDIT} And oh, I almost forgot; during the Tumblrgeddon before Christmas, when my blog was in explicit mode and some kind of shadowban hell for a long time, and there was uncertainty what happens after the new guidelines were enforced, I created a back-up blog @lady-tp to ensure my survival in case something happened to this one...
following: 127
followers: 924
do i get asks: Occasionally – but not a lot. But I love getting them as much as the next guy!
amount of sleep i get:  Usually 6-7 hours and that is actually enough…weekends a bit more.
lucky numbers: Hmmm, no such thing… Any number can be lucky or unlucky, methinks. And how would that be defined anyway???
what i’m wearing: Light blue and turquoise nightshift, frilly and pretty!
dream job: Something to do with food or wine; food scientist, wine maker’s assistant or something like that – which would grant me lots of samples, free invites and lots of food and wine-themed events!
dream trip: I am not that keen for travel, really, anymore… But if I had enough money to do it in real style, I would say a luxury trip to Italy, focussed on food and wine, including visits to best restaurants and wineries and food related festivals!
favourite food: As a food group; cheese. As individual favourite meals; sous-vide salmon, sushi, asparagus, bocconcini cheese...
instruments: Childhood period of trying to learn guitar, which was dropped soon. Hmmm.
languages: Native Finnish, fluent English, some Swedish, German and French. I would like to learn Italian one of these days… but that would require a really good reason to actually get up to do it, more than just a vague desire!
favourite songs: To mention just a few, “Love Me Again” by John Newman, “Jos Mun Pokka Pettää” by Haloo Helsinki, “Mennyt Mies” by J. Karjalainen, ‘Ride’ by Lana Del Rey.
random fact: I have recently started to regret some things I never had issues before – looking back I did some really stupid things that I now just have to live with (nothing criminal, I assure, just stupid life-choices!). Hmmm.
aesthetic: Simplicity – no clutter.
I tag: @asimplylucia , @thedropletsparkled , @thefeatherofhope  @zip00198704 @ellebh @bluecichlid and @mad-j-j

My July playlist is here, just in time for September! Four hours of hits from Lana Del Rey, Iannis Xenakis, KISS, Cameo and everyone in between. Please enjoy.
This Is What Makes Us Girls - Lana Del Rey: This is a really underrated Lana song I think. It's such a beautiful song and it's so heartbreaking the way she sings "they were the only friends I ever had". It's like an origin story for her whole thing detailing how she got bitten by a radioactive pabst, I love it.
Walking Into Sunshine (Larry Levan 12" Mix) - Central Line: A powerful good mood song that quickly takes on a vibe shift near the end when he says I've got to do it now, I've got to walk into the sun' which carries a different meaning than 'walk into the sunshine' to me. Embracing positivity versus self immolation in a nuclear furnace.
Fine di Cobb - Stelvio Cipriani: This is the most jamming harpsichord I think I have ever heard. This is from the soundtrack to an italian cop film called Mark il Poliziotto (Mark The Narc) that I found in a spotify playlist called Best Of Eurocrime that I cannot recommend enough. https://open.spotify.com/user/cinevox/playlist/1o3c0Con0ormlKc9r1gqxgSince
Last Wednesday - Highasakite: Highasakite might be the worst band name I've ever heard and they're so lucky this song is as good as it is that it cancels that out.
Hilary $wank - Joey Bada$$: I was originally just going to post the instrumental of this because the beat it just so, so good. So busy without being cluttered and nicely melodic without clouding the space for the vocals. I also like this song a lot because just by virtue of being so upbeat it escapes the worst parts of a lot of other Joey Bada$$ 'real hip hop' type songs that are going for a throwback vibe but end up just sounding dated.
Girls - Royal Headache: Girls! Think they're too fine for me! Oh Girls! And I'm inclined to agree!
Something To Tell You - Haim: I'm slowly coming around to Haim's second album and I've finally decided it's good actually. I just hope they do a live album or something soon because their songs are so tightly structured that I think it's almost to their detriment, and every live video I've seen of them they really pull them apart and expand them in a nice organic way that just doesn't come through on the album.
Lavender - BadBadNotGood & Kaytranada: I can't tell whether I like this orginal version or the Nightfall remix with Snoop Dogg better, the verses are just regular Snoop but the vocals they put on the chorus are so good I sort of wish there was a third version that was just them with some other rapper.
New Seeds - Boards Of Canada: Realising that the sound at the start of this is extrapolated from mobile phone interference was a shocking moment for me.
Alligator Engine - Hunters & Collectors: Hunters And Collectors early albums where they sounded like the Talking Heads of the Mad Max universe don't get enough respect because of their huge regular sounding hits a few albums later and it's areal shame because this song is pure primal funk.
Fly Like An Eagle - Seal: This is the song that plays on the little muzak speakers in the cryogenic chamber for the four minutes you're still conscious while your body cools to absolute zero. Then you wake up in 400 years still humming it.
Come To Dust - Boards Of Canada: I was having such a huge moment with this album this month and lamenting the imminent end of our favourite earth The Earth, and this is really such a peaceful sort of resolute song right near the end of the album before the real ending of Semena Mertvykh makes you feel like a body dumped in the desert for scientific research into the nature of decomposition.
Kiss You All Over - Millie Jackson: I'm still not sure how I feel about this new Millie Jackson album that's old multitracks re-mixed by Steve Levine. The whole thing sounds kind of whack. What's good however, is when she adlibs "I wanna bite you on the ankles baby" out of nowhere near the end, and then says "on the ankles.. on the kneecaps.." as the song's fading out.
The Sorcerer - Twain: My girlfriend sent me this song and I have no idea where she found it but I love it. As soon as I heard the opening line I was completely hooked. It's such a beautiful and foreboding song that I really can't get a proper read on, I love it.
Men Today - Health: I'm looking for a chrome extension that makes this song play at maximum volume whenever anyone makes a post containing the phrase 'men today'. Huge wall of noise. Bloodthirsty drums. All the dirt owns us now, what we were ends in the ground.
Where Love Lives - Frankie Knuckles: I'm eagerly awaiting the day coming soon that 90s piano house goes from naff to revered and rockets back up the charts.
Nein König Nein - DJ Koze: This is the B side to Seeing Aliens off of DJ Koze's new album and I really love it, mostly for the groove it get into about halfway through, it reminds me of High Fidelity by Daft Punk where it's just chopped to hell and builds these sort of disparate rhythmic cuts into a really melodic frankenstein.
Blush - Leon Vynehall: I think I found this song and the next one by Spotify Radio off of the DJ Koze song above. I got into a real groove at work one day and these two were the best two to come out of it. The bassline/strings melody that centres this whole song is so good and so circular it could feasibly play for two hours and I wouldn't notice.
Last Land - John Talabot: The way the vocal sample just keeps bleeding into itself is hypnotising here, and it's also maybe the best and most unique kick sound I've heard in a long time.
Suzinak - Ross From Friends: I almost feel bad for Ross From Friends because he's making some really amazing music but he's stuck with this dogshit soundcloud name. The Durutti Column sample that forms the basis of this song is really nicely placed without just feeling like a rip-off, but where this song really shines is in the last minute or so where it magically transitions into a crunching guitar driven thing that sounds like it's playing next door.
Canary Yellow - Deafheaven: The most incredible thing about this album is the sense of optimism that pervades it. This isn't a genre that really lends itself to hope or beauty but somehow Deafheaven have captured it in a way I didn't really think possible. It feels like they've expanded the emotional palette of the whole genre with this album, without sacrificing any of what makes it great.
Strutter - Kiss: I had this song stuck in my head the other day, but I'd remembered it wrong and had it mixed up with the chorus of Lovers And Sinners by Dallas Crane. In my version he's saying 'strutter' the way they say 'lovers'. There's an incredible song in there somewhere, but the original is pretty good too.
Lovers And Sinners - Dallas Crane: See above I guess. It's interesting listening to Dallas Crane now as a new generation is reappraising and being inspired by pub rock all over again and somehow the difference between Dallas Crane and Jet versus Bad//Dreems and Peep Tempel couldn't be more pronounced despite their shared roots. Where the former idolises the glamour of a bygone age of rock and roll the latter are reapprorating it in a more directly emotional, less flashy way.
Evryali - Iannis Xenakis: From what I understand from reading the wiki article on this piece this was generated by doing about five different kinds of extreme nerd graph maths and then turning that into music via more maths and when he finally turned up with the completed score it was so fucking stupid it had notes that don't physically exist on a standard piano in it. Now that's rock and roll. It's hard to make sense of this without the context of its composition because it feels incredibly random, but this performance by Stephnos Thomopoulos really brings meaning to the total chaos of it. I think solo piano is such a good medium for generative-type works like this because it feels like the simplest way to see everything happening without the tonal clutter of synthesised or orchestral sounds muddying the already extremely muddy waters.
Easy Way Out - Money For Rope: I love bands with two drummers and Money For Rope really know how to use two drummers, which is simply use them exactly like you would one drummer but pan them left and right so I can hear when they do different fills at the same time and get a thrill. A really good song about killing yourself when you're old(?)
Sophisticated Lady - Art Tatum: I've been having a big Art Tatum phase recently and it's hard to overstate just how much I believe Art Tatum came from another planet to teach us about the piano. He is really and truly from another dimension. So off the charts insanely good at making a whole universe from a simple tune. It's like every single note gets its own full trip around the block before he moves on.
Stay As Sweet As You Are - Art Tatum: This is an absolute odyssey in five minutes. Without ever losing focus, or losing track of the central theme, it's like he takes it apart piece by piece and reassembles it anew every single bar right before your eyes.
No Line On The Horizon - U2: 2000s U2 gets a bad rap, and it's mostly deserved but there's still some very good stuff in there. This song is so good, and so nicely produced it's a real shame that it opens the album that eventually contains Get On Your Boots.
Tools Down - The Presets: Not only is this song great, but they use the exact same synth sound as the one they used for Madeline's voice in Celeste, which has the nice side effect of making it seem like Madeline is singing along to this great song.
Open Sesame (12" Version) - Kool & The Gang: I've definitely put this on my list before but this is probably the best song ever recorded. It's incredible top to bottom for all 9 minutes and never fails to put me in a great mood.
Peril - Martin O'Donnell: I was thinking about the Halo 2 soundtrack and was shocked to remember correctly that this strange Enya knock-off made it into the highest selling game of 2004.
Drumgasm - Weiss/Cameron/Hill: I cannot belive I haven't heard of this album before now. It's Janet Weiss from Sleater-Kinney, Matt Cameron from Pearl Jam and Zach Hill all playing drums for 40 minutes and it's incredible. I would never have expected Weiss and Cameron to be the sort of drummers to do something like this, but they absolutely nail it. The different styles of the three really meld well and they all seem to lead at different times. This album is the sort of thing that seems like it would be extremely exhausting, and probably would be in most circumstances but somehow they pulled it off. It's engaging and for the most part, driven, purposeful music with direction; which is saying a lot for an album of three drummers just going absolutely hard as motherfuckers for most of an hour.
Apollo - St Paul & The Broken Bones: I love this song but the way he sings the first line makes me laugh because it sounds almost exactly like Drew Tarver's Donny Gary character. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U9ArjvUUptw and I'm blessed to have this song about reusing mcdonalds cups play in my head every single time I'm in a mcdonalds.
Million Times Alone - Bad//Dreems: This is maybe the best song about working night shift and having depression I've ever heard. The part about sleeping in the day in the bright sun in a boiling hot house is an especially vicious sense memory for me.
Slow Mover - Angie McMahon: My girlfriend showed me this and I absolutely love it. I also feel extremely old because I just googled it and apparently it's an Unearthed song that made the Hottest 100 this year and I didn't even notice. The best approximation I can make of how I feel about this song is the google autocomplete when you google it that goes 'angie mcmagon slow mover meaning?' and the top comment on the Genius page for it that says 'I cried my eyes out when I first heard this song.’
Drop The Bomb (feat. MF DOOM) - YOTA: Youth Of The Apocalypse: This is the new band from the non-Clash guitarist and bassist from Gorillaz, as well as Jamie Reynolds from Klaxons and I'm so glad it exists because the new Gorillaz album was such a snore and this really feels like what it should have been. Somehow it seems Damon Albarn is not the thing that makes Gorillaz great, it's the other guys which is very very strange.
Word Up - Cameo: Mostly thinking about this song because of Carl Tart's extremely good episode of Comedy Bang Bang where he spoke in the cadence of this and the other Cameo song for the whole episode https://www.earwolf.com/episode/word-down/
Lee - Tenacious D: I don't know what's going on but I got into a real Tenacious D thing this month. Thinking deeply about comedy music for some reason. Anyway this song is so much fun and it reminds me of Tony's Theme by Pixies.
Tony's Theme - Pixies: I love the idea of writing a nonsense song about your friend Tony, who you love, to put right in the middle of your otherwise pretty serious alt rock album. If you know any other songs in the genre of Lee and Tony's Theme please reply and tell me them because I think it's really funny genre.
Burning Down The House - Tom Jones & The Cardigans: I woke up one morning with the sound of Tom Jones singing 'strange but not a stranger' in my head and it took me so much googling to find out it was this version of Burning Down The House that I was thinking of, without having heard it in probably ten years. I like that this song is ostensibly a duet but Nina Persson has such a thin voice and Tom Jones is the most powerful man to have ever lived that she's sort of just automatically relegated to backing vocals by default.
Horseshoe Crabs - Hop Along: I heard about this from the Jason Mantzoukas What's In My Bag video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ecfWVhz-wyc. I cannot believe how her voice sounds, it's just incredible. The way she sings "baby's heading home" at the start shocked me, it sounds like recordings of three different people cut together. It's just amazing. I already loved this song a lot and then when I looked into it I found out it's about Jackson C. Frank and it made me cry.
Long Wat - Khun Narin: This is another one I got from the Jason Mantzoukas What's In My Bag video, it's a Thai pschedelic street band and it's quite simply the jam of a lifetime.

Hi, I just really need to talk about modern AU great Comet hcs Please love me
an unprompted ask?? for me??? this is the content I signed up for
so yeah i’m just gonna make a big ass list of headcanons lemme know what you think,,, i love modern au so much so this is also a long post beware!!!
these are random as hell but are heavy on the Andrierre, which is good and bad because I love this ship but also I haven’t read War and Peace so some of the Andrey headcanons might be dead wrong
and of course feel free to correct and/or add on to this list! I’d love to hear what you guys have to say about this and I’m always up for talking about Great Comet
so let’s begin
Anatole is a picky picky picky eater, he’ll only eat very specific things like That One All-Natural Organic Overpriced Brand Of Mac ‘N’ Cheese™
9 times out of 10 Helene is going to or drinking Starbucks
Dolokhov will eat ANYTHING but he still ends up going to Taco Bell way too often
he drinks too much Mountain Dew
Pierre keeps his shirt on at the beach/when swimming
he only leaves the house to walk to the local convenience store and buy snacks, and the liquor store to buy booze
Marya loves couponing
Dolokhov prides himself on his cool sneakers
Sonya plays the ukulele
she wears a lot of scarves and flannel and loves autumn
Andrey owns a lot of soft gray sweaters
Mary has a really old ipod nano that has like ten songs on it but she listens to it and dances while she cleans in the morning when her father is asleep
Helene wears athletic wear (track pants, cool sneakers, etc) for the aesthetic but isn’t much of a fan of working out
Andrey goes for a run every morning
Natasha uses the dog filter on Snapchat way too much
Balaga wears a weed hat and weed socks
there’s a 99% chance Anatole has texted “send nudes” in the last 12 hours
Pierre has a lot of t-shirts with random bands on them
Marya loves strong coffee
Natasha and Sonya share a room that’s decorated with fairy lights
Andrey works a bunch of jobs and has really weird hours
lucky for him, Pierre never sleeps
so they often go to the local diner together at 3am and get milkshakes and cheese fries
Pierre fucking loves cheese fries
Sonya had a weeb phase
Dolokhov is still in the tail end of his emo phase tbh
Anatole secretly loves Buzzfeed quizzes
Balaga is an uber driver
Sonya watches a lot of Food Network and HGTV
Natasha loves The Bachelor
Dolokhov watches roast videos
Pierre once watched vine compilations for 13 hours straight
somehow word got around that Dolokhov secretly has an embarrassing tattoo (something along the lines of “I love my mom,” perhaps?) but when confronted about it he turned bright red and vehemently denied its existence
Helene wears those Aesthetic™ shirts with random French words on them from like Forever 21 or something
Dolokhov wears Timberlands and track pants and snapback hats
he also wears his socks pulled up high like your friendly neighborhood fuckboy
Natasha has worn the same pair of Uggs for a long time
Balaga unironically wears Crocs (often paired with his weed socks and oversized denim cutoffs)
Dolokhov takes snowball fights very seriously
Andrey can drive but he hates doing it
he bikes to work and around the city
Mary also hates driving, but that’s because she’s deathly afraid of it
Pierre bought contacts but never uses them, he just wears his glasses instead
Dolokhov is really into sports, both watching them and playing them
his favorites are soccer and basketball
he forces Anatole and Helene to watch some games with him and they hate it
they just rate the players’ attractiveness instead and end up talking and wolf-whistling over all the commentary
Dolokhov is annoyed by it at first, but always ends up joining in and marveling at the muscles on these guys! look at those fucking biceps
Natasha visits Pierre once in awhile and brings some gifts and food (usually baked goods that her and Sonya make)
they just sorta hang out and talk and eat, sometimes Pierre makes tea for them and they have a little tea party
Pierre’s very awkward but Natasha is good at diffusing the awkwardness, mostly by talking a lot about nothing
one time she convinced him to let her paint his nails and honestly??? Pierre kinda liked it
he wanted to tell Andrey about it but Andrey still doesn’t seem ready to talk about Natasha
Pierre’s ok with it though, he’ll give it time. Andrey will come around eventually.
Mary swears by medicinal teas and herbs for almost every ailment
she also collects flowers and dries them and hangs them in her room
Dolokhov does parkour
Balaga runs a meme account
Marya has everything you could ever need in her purse, including napkins, Advil, hand sanitizer, wet wipes, tampons, pepper spray, tweezers, Beyonce’s entire discography, the whole city of Moscow, etc
Pierre has a lot of books on the French Revolution
one Valentine’s Day, Andrey got Pierre a locket with Napoleon’s face in it and Pierre was so confused until he opened it and he just looked so pained while Andrey laughed
honestly Pierre thinks it was actually really fucking clever and it’s kinda sweet that Andrey noticed how into the French Revolution he was
also, he had never seen Andrey laugh as hard as he did in that moment and that made it all worth it
Pierre’s favorite TV show is Gravity Falls, though Ancient Aliens is a close second
he also watches reruns of Jeopardy a lot and is surprisingly good at it
sometimes Andrey will watch it with him; Pierre gets all the history stuff and Andrey gets more of the pop culture questions
Helene listens to Lana Del Rey, Dolokhov has a soft spot for twenty one pilots, and Anatole is always a slut for some Britney
Pierre listens to Radiohead and other depressing existential indie/alternative rock
Natasha is a sucker for a good love song, Broadway musicals, or any happy boppy pop song tbh
Sonya loves folk music and anything with string instruments
Andrey is partial to some good 90s grunge rock (Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Weezer, etc)
Marya listens to pop music of the 70s and 80s music, stuff of the “good old days”
boy oh boy can she GET DOWN to Dancing Queen
Mary thoroughly enjoys Christian rock
Andrey secretly loves to dance, he’s one of those people that just kind of loses himself in the music and is just completely in the zone while dancing
honestly??? Pierre’s jealous because 1. how do you relax while there are people around you and 2. how the hell does Andrey still look cool
Pierre is either too self-conscious to dance or he just kind of nods his head to the beat, that’s all he’ll do
(unless he’s alone in which case it’s WILD)
Dolokhov’s dancing is basically just jumping with some fancy footwork once in awhile
Anatole and Helene twerk. c’mon of course they do
one time Natasha tried to teach herself how to twerk and Marya walked in and grounded her for a week
Pierre thinks The Shawshank Redemption is the pinnacle of cinema and will fight anyone who thinks otherwise
Natasha sings in the shower
Anatole loves chick flicks and has a crush on Ryan Gosling
he forces Dolokhov to watch shitty romcoms with him as revenge for Dolokhov forcing him to watch sports
but I mean they’re all curled up on the couch with their arms around each other and Anatole’s crying and Dolokhov’s laughing at him and they’re eating ice cream and takeout from the one place that Anatole actually likes and it’s just them because Helene’s knows that this is just Too Much™ so she left and she’s basically the voice of reason in their friend group and it’s really quite the experience
Pierre was in a really shitty cover band in college
Balaga is always high
Sonya loves oversized sweaters and leggings
Dolokhov has his ears pierced
Helene has a nose ring
not a day goes by when Anatole doesn’t quote Mean Girls
Mary owns a lot of those wooden blocks with random little quotes on them (you know the ones – they’re in any given Marshalls and dearly beloved by suburban wine moms), like “Be happy” and “Jesus loves you” and “You can’t buy happiness, but you can buy chocolate”
one of Andrey’s many jobs is waiting tables at Applebee’s. Pierre has visited him there a couple times and boy did Andrey look dead inside
the only reason Andrey works so many jobs is so he can afford his own place because his father is a piece of shit
Pierre offered to help with the financial aspect of it but Andrey wouldn’t let him pay for it
still, Andrey ends up sleeping over Pierre’s a lot, not that Pierre minds
Old Prince Bolkonsky exclusively watches FOX news and he yells at the TV a lot
he eats the same thing for lunch every day: a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, which he makes Mary prepare
fun fact: Mary is allergic to peanuts
Sonya works at an ice cream parlor and brings home desserts for Natasha and Marya
Marya loves chocolate ice cream, Natasha prefers vanilla with rainbow sprinkles
Sonya is a butter pecan kind of girl, if we’re getting into it (and we are)
Anatole likes French vanilla (it has to be French), Helene likes coffee, and Dolokhov is partial to death by chocolate (or something similar)
Bolkonsky has to have peanut butter ice cream, Mary likes strawberry
Andrey prefers sorbet, but if he had to pick, he’d go with pistachio
Pierre’s favorite is cookie dough
Balaga probably found a way to make weed ice cream tbh
Mary loves scrapbooking
Sonya writes fanfic
she loves to read and wishes she lived in a Barnes & Noble
Andrey and Pierre play video games together and they’ve gotten really good at it
neither one of them likes intense fighting games but they do really like Mario Kart
Andrey plays as Yoshi and Pierre plays as Bowser
Pierre tried to teach Natasha how to play but she kept falling off cliffs
her favorite character is Princess Peach
her and Sonya dressed up as Peach and Daisy for Halloween once and it was really cute
Pierre has worn the same black hoodie for two years
Natasha runs an aesthetic blog
she also writes poetry on said blog
one of Andrey’s coworkers keeps accidentally calling him Andrew and it makes Andrey so irritated
the Kuragins can’t swim
Dolokhov tried to teach them but it didn’t work because Helene’s bikini kept falling down and Anatole wouldn’t go under water because it would ruin his hair
if Andrey goes over Pierre’s during the day, he’ll help him clean the house because Pierre has no motivation to do so
about once a month Marya will stop by and remark how disgusting the house is and before Pierre can even defend himself the whole house has been vacuumed, the windows are washed, the laundry’s done, the clothes are folded, the shelves are dusted, the bathroom’s scrubbed, the beds are made, and there’s fresh flowers on the kitchen table
then they hang out and complain about people to each other and it’s a grand old time
Pierre’s really grateful to Marya, but she refuses to take a compliment
let’s be real though, she relishes in watching Pierre keep saying nice things about her because she keeps denying them and he feels obligated to make her agree
Pierre has a shitty Toyota Corolla from the early 90s that has no AC and is being held together by duct tape and he’s afraid to drive it but too attached to sell it
Sonya has a folder on her laptop that’s just pictures of Tegan And Sara. that’s it
Marya doesn’t know how to whisper
Pierre loves the movie theater but will only go if Andrey or Natasha go with him
after the whole Anatole Fiasco™ Natasha and Sonya blocked Helene on Instagram so she kept making fake accounts until they accepted one of the follow requests
Andrey takes Halloween very seriously
Pierre bites his nails
Helene taught Anatole how to do makeup and now he won’t stop contouring
Anatole takes an obnoxious amount of selfies
Sonya’s wardrobe is almost exclusively from Target
Pierre spends an embarrassing amount of time on Wikipedia
Marya had a flip phone up until a couple months ago when Natasha and Sonya convinced her to get an iPhone
Marya hates it because she doesn’t know how to use it and it makes her feel stupid
but Natasha’s teaching her how to use it and it’s kind of growing on her, it’s just so practical and functional and now she has a pretty red case for it that matches her nails and
Marya goes and gets her nails and hair done every couple of weeks, it’s her mandatory “treat yo’ self” ritual
Anatole pretty much only wears pastel colors
Dolokhov pretty much only wears black (or very very very dark gray)
he has a black jean jacket decorated with lots of pins that he wears all the time
there’s a skull pin and one that says “Jesus hates me” and a Blink-182 one and an Obama one and a gay flag one and an eggplant emoji one and one that says “I love my boyfriend” and it’s fucking iconic
his favorite shirt to wear it with is his Batman shirt
Dolokhov likes DC better than Marvel, Pierre’s the other way around (is that what the duel was fought over??? lmao)
Anatole doesn’t care but he thinks RDJ is hot
Andrey likes both and doesn’t understand why everyone’s so angry about it
Helene has an extensive collection of bralettes
Natasha hates pants and only wears skirts or dresses
Sonya doesn’t think she’s very good at drawing or painting but she still does it anyway because it makes her really happy
Pierre once said “love you” while talking on the phone with Andrey and he didn’t know what to do so he just PANICKED and chucked his phone across the room but he forgot to hang up and it turns out Andrey didn’t even hear what he said after all
ehhh hopefully this is pretty good? it was fun to make and made me laugh while writing it but let me know what you think!! and please add on to this post, i need more modern au headcanons hhhhhh

Lana Del Rey is Complex’s Summer 2017 Cover Story. Lana Del Rey Talks "Lust for Life," Avoiding Cultural Appropriation, and Getting Political For six years now Lana Del Rey has attracted and foiled critics with pop music that does not sound like any of her peers. The mild, smoky voice, the judicious use of rap production, the juxtaposition of classic American images and sounds with hyper-contemporary, crass language, from these elements Lana makes music that feels at once familiar and strange. ‘Lust For Life’ is her most ambitious album yet, and as Lana explains in her third Complex cover appearance, it emerged from a period of self-examination that, when it ended, left her "looking at everything else" the world has to offer. Hopeful and questioning, the album engages with the tumultuous and oftentimes terrifying politics of 2017 on songs like ‘God Bless America—And All the Beautiful Women in It’ and ‘When the World Was at War We Kept Dancing.’ Elsewhere, this more expansive worldview means features from artists like Stevie Nicks, Playboi Carti, Sean Ono Lennon, and ASAP Rocky. "I was ready to have some of my friends jump on the record," she says,"[and] they were all naturally a little bit lighter than me." Lightness is, in some ways, the operating principle for Lana Del Rey right now. At 32, her career is no longer "guesswork," the way it was when she first began. The questions of authenticity and agency that greeted her upon arrival are irrelevant. There's only Lana Del Rey. This interview has been edited for clarity and length.
— You were living in New York when you put out ‘Born To Die’ and I know that you went from being like normal New Yorker who rides the subway to Lana del Rey who's on Page Six and is the subject of long thinkpieces in the Times. Lana Del Rey: That was fucked up. It just changed it. I remember I was working somewhere else and I was on my way back from there and I was getting on the 6 train, and TMZ was behind me the whole time. — On the train? LDR: Yeah, I had run into this camera-man. It was the first time I had seen a paparazzi, but he wasn’t taking pictures, he was just filming. I don’t even know if I had ever seen that before ‘cause it’s someone with a VHS following you around. — Was he trying to talk to you? LDR: Yeah, and I was answering and I sounded crazy. I went down and got my ticket, swiped it, waited for the train. I looked behind me, the guy had got a ticket too, and he was waiting too. I was like, Wait, is this real life? Honestly from then on one of those guys I had seen that day was just always there. I thought to myself, I think I gotta move somewhere. — Your first three covers are all fairly serious, sort of oscillating between kind of almost sad and maybe a little bit aloof on the ‘Honeymoon’ one. This is the first one where you’re smiling. LDR: Well, the ‘Honeymoon’ cover I thought was more just casual. I felt like I was in a more casual space. But this was definitely in an even more lighter space altogether. My sister, Chuck, shot it, but we shot it in the parking lot behind the scenes of my ‘Love’ video. We didn’t know if we were going to get the cover but we definitely knew I was gonna smile. We took a couple frames, and we developed it that week, and I felt like that was the one. — For being a fairly dark time to live in the world, it’s kind of interesting that this is actually your most optimistic work, at least in its titling and its imagery. What’s the genesis of that? LDR: Well there was a little bit of a shift in me naturally. I felt like I had kind of said a lot and done a lot through the records. I was ready to have some of my friends jump on the record [and] they were all naturally a little bit lighter than me, so that was kind of happening in my world. I felt like two years of recording really dark tunes would not be fun. — You do touch on problems of the world and politics in this work in a way that your previous albums did not. Was that a conscious decision? LDR: On the last records I needed to look inward to figure out why things had gone so far down one path, and then I kind of came to the end of my self-examination and I naturally was looking at everything else. But, of course, all my experiences and romantic relationships and stuff are still peppered in to some of the songs on this record. Also, with Obama as the president, me and everybody I know, I think we felt very safe and protected, felt like we were being viewed the way we wanted to be viewed, in terms of the world. So there wasn’t as much to say except, like, look how far we’ve come and it’s getting better, getting even better. I feel like there was quite a shift. — With this record you have infused more politics than ever before. I think it’s not necessarily a political record, but it is a record of the day. I don’t know this for a fact, but I would imagine that you have a decent number of sort of middle American fans for whom Trump’s inauguration and administration is not problematic. How do you negotiate expressing your own honest feelings about these things, and do you think about whether or not it’s going to piss them off, or is this something that has inspired ire from people who at one point were in you core? LDR: You don’t negotiate when it comes to your work or your art. You stand totally firm and take the consequences. In terms of losing fans I don’t care. Period. [Laughs.] — The last two albums, ‘Honeymoon’ and ‘Ultraviolence,’ it seemed like you concentrated on making stuff for yourself, and perhaps for your core audience. With this record, it at  appears that there is a more expansive ambition. LDR: I would consider it as a not turning away from the possible bigger-ness of it, compared to the other two. Before, I felt maybe I wanted to be more protective of my own space and stuff with the last two records. — Was that a reaction to the success of records like the remix to ‘Summertime Sadness’? LDR: I think it was a reaction to more people knowing who I was right away. So I was like, Let me just check myself and get myself into a place where I’m sure I like what I’m doing, and I know I like the production. With the ‘Summertime Sadness’ remix, I had told you before, I didn’t hear that song until it was on the radio and I came back from a show in Russia, and I heard it on the radio. I mean, obviously in general I like to have my hands all over the production. — Was that a weird feeling to like - LDR: It was a weird… — Is it weird also that it’s probably - LDR: That it’s a huge song? — ...your biggest hit? LDR: Really? You’re gonna say that? — I mean, radio numbers at least. LDR: No, you’re probably right. — Probably not your most important song, but… LDR: I think ‘Video Games’ is right up there. I was more sensitive about it then because when you’re new you’ve got so much to prove. You don’t have that many chances. That’s real. I’d consider it at the time just being careful. You know, in terms of collabs or sponsorships or whatever. — Is it freeing now to feel that you can do whatever feels good in the moment? LDR: Yeah. It is actually. — Do you feel like that played into the larger ambition of ‘Lust For Life’? LDR: Rocky’s on the record, and when he’s in town and I’m here, I’m just down at the studio anyway. Or the same with Abel, you know? I’ll just go down and listen to what he’s working on. I realized, Why do I not have my friends on my record? It was pretty natural but I guess with Abel, everything he does now is so big, so at another time maybe that would’ve felt like a little bit scarier or something, but now it just feels right. — What do you mean? LDR: Well, he’s super out there and he’s got a lot of radio stuff so I don’t know if I would’ve known what to do with a big radio song. I’m not saying I have one on this record… — But if you are to have one, you feel confident that it would be exciting? LDR: That I would be happy, yeah. — David Byrne from the Talking Heads wrote an amazing book about the history of music, and he goes into the significance of radio in how songs are formatted, and the idea that it’s like three minutes with three hooks and a bridge—there’s nothing in nature that says that that’s how music should be composed. It’s strictly about how radio programmers want to get three songs per commercial break, so that has sort of trained the artists to work within those confines. LDR: For sure. And they’re not terrible confines to work within. It’s kind of fun to make a short song with a cute chorus. But I think if you’re writing it yourself it’s important to have half the record at least where you’ve got a little bit of your life in there, or a little bit of an opinion. I think if you’re really good you can do both. I was thinking of Bob Dylan. — What is the measure of success for you? LDR: The one thing that stayed the same is, for me the measure of success with the record is just that it gets finished. [Laughs.] For real. — Did Sean Lennon make the record? LDR: He made it. — I saw that you took these pictures with a horse, but it was not a horse that was coming out of a pond on his estate, so I didn’t know if that was like a subliminal shot. LDR: It’s not, no. Horses have just been a random theme somehow. He ended up producing the track we made, ‘Tomorrow Never Came,’ and that’s the only track on the record that I wrote over the last two years that I didn’t feel like it was mine. I  felt like I had written it for someone else, which I… I’ve never really felt like that. Then I was looking at the lyrics and I had a lyric about John Lennon and Yoko, so I called Sean and asked him if he would do a duet with me. He said that he was his dad’s biggest fan, so it would be really natural. — The other thing I’ve noticed is that almost all the people that you work with are men. Is that something you ever think about, or that bothers you? LDR: Well, it’s weird because the people in my close production life are men. I guess I’m thinking of like Rick [Nowels] and my two engineers, Dean Reed and Kieran Menzies, who have changed my whole musical life and my sound and my records. But in my personal life, there’s just so many women. Well there’s not many female producers, for sure. There’s some great female songwriters though. That’ll probably change. — When you think about yourself as a songwriter, how do you think you’ve changed from ‘Born To Die’ days to what you’re writing now? LDR: Maybe just the ability to integrate my own experiences with what I’m observing. To be able to reflect back, like a good mix of inner world, outer world. — Toxic relationships were very much the fuel of a lot of the writing on those first albums, as you have moved to a sort of happier, more solid place, perhaps making better life decisions - LDR: Trying. — How do you think about your romantic life, and how do you think about it within the context of your songwriting? LDR: I feel like in this record there’s—with the songs that are “love songs,” or about relationships, I feel like I come off almost more annoyed about the way things are going rather than like, “Oh, poor me.” There’s like a moving that I get from my own stuff, because sometimes my own stuff is a little bit revealing to me, you know, about myself. — With a lot of artists who write very personal stuff, when they get to this point in their career it sometimes gets more difficult to unearth and reveal those things because of success and fame and the work. LDR: That’s so true. — Do you feel like it’s a greater challenge now? LDR: Yeah, but I’ve never been somebody who turned away from really hard work. I’m always looking to put the footwork in. Like with the mixing, if it takes eight months I will mix for eight months. If the master doesn’t come back right I’ll find someone else to do it. With the personal stuff I mean, if I feel like I’m just not getting it right I’ll just keep on trying different things until I feel like I’m hitting my stride in that department. I don’t know, finding your own path is not for the faint of heart. It’s the harder path. It’s easier to just keep doing the same shit over and over again and then be surprised when it’s still the same results. Somehow that’s easier than just doing something different. — A lot of what got written about you in the beginning, and in a somewhat real way, you had developed a character. I imagine a large part you, and then perhaps something that’s imagined. As you’ve gotten further and further into your career do you feel like the lines between those things have changed or blurred? LDR: I mean, that’s what most of the thinkpieces are about. You know, there’s a lot of stuff I could’ve not said in the songs and I said it anyway. It didn’t always serve me to talk about some of the men I was with and what that was like, and then not comment on it further. So that’s some of my experiences and where I lived and what it was like. It would’ve been easier to just not say that and then deflect all of the questions about it afterwards. — So do you think that was sort of overstated? LDR: I didn’t edit myself when I could have, because a lot of it’s just the way it was. I mean, because I’ve changed a lot and a lot of those songs, it’s not that I don’t relate but… A lot of it too is I was just kinda nervous. I came off sort of nervously, and there was just a lot of dualities, a lot of juxtapositions going on that maybe just felt like something was a little off. Maybe the thing that was off was that I needed a little more time or something, and also my path was just so windy just to get to having a first record. I feel like I had to figure it out all by myself. Every move was just guesswork. — It’s kind of funny because you were in your mid-twenties when you sort of came out and I do think if you look at artists that dropped their first albums between like 25 and 27, whether it’s an Eminem or Jay Z, it’s like, if you looked at their work at 22 - LDR: Yeah, exactly. It’s different. — It would’ve been very raw and unfocused. There was no Slim Shady for Eminem at 22, but at 26 he had the full 360 package. LDR: Jay Z talks about that too, like how he really, really lived by the time he was 26. There was a real perspective he was coming from. So, yeah, it’s a real age where... — You can put together a project that's more fully formed. LDR: Right. And my perspective was fully formed, it just wasn’t a great outlook. It’s not so much a persona question with me, it’s just more like what was going on with that girl, you know? Like, where was she coming from? — There’s been an inordinate amount of conversation around the idea of cultural appropriation, and Katy Perry kind of stepped right in it with her performance on SNL. You have moved fairly organically from the singer/songwriter world into hip-hop, and back out and back in without much commotion. Why do you think that is? LDR: I never feel like I’m not where I’m supposed to be, you know? No matter who I’m with, I’m always still doing my own thing. I can’t remember the last time I was in a club or somewhere and felt like, Man, I’m not supposed to be here. I’ve been kind of doing it for so long I feel like everybody I’m friends with, everyone I know just knows I’m all about the music. — Do you have any consideration for the critics and all of the sort of dissection for your art at this point? LDR: Yeah, sometimes. I have a song called ‘Get Free’ which closes my record, and it started by, it told my whole story, I guess, and my thoughts on where I want to go next; and then I realized, I actually don’t want to tell my whole story, I don’t want to talk about it.  — How do you negotiate what you keep for yourself and what you are ready to share? LDR: Sometimes I just can’t resist to just tell it like it really is for myself and the way that I feel.

Odd Beginnings
I’ve been pushing off my desire to write for a while. There’s always something more pressing to do—school stuff, sure, but if I were to open a word document, shouldn’t it be to edit the essays that I’m so behind on? I’ve been writing lots for sure, but never truly for myself. It is the long weekend, and although I’m oddly more behind than I’ve ever been before (I should be done with this week’s review by now), I still feel a sense of leisure. Today was the first day I really just relaxed in my sunlit but dark, nice but old, pleasant but awfully brown room. I had breakfast and coffee, a pancake, some 떡국, did/thought (too much) about decorating, and am running the dish washer for the first time. I lounged in my room listening to music and feeling way too much.
And of course, weirdly, now that I’m about to write, I don’t have much to write about. I feel a little sick—a bit of a cold from all the sleep deprivation.
I feel an ache inside again lately. An ache that I can’t put words to anymore. I read back on some of my old stuff, and it’s a lot for sure, but also, jarring. It’s been a hot second—was about to say—but then realized it hasn’t been. It’s literally been a year. But it feels like a hot second. I am numb in certain ways. It’s shocking to realize how much so. Random snapshots:
Money Power Glory – Lana Del Ray
Lana may have written this satirically, but increasingly this is exactly how I feel at times. I feel it in a strange surge as I sit in a room full of people who seem relaxed yet not, backgrounds that seem intensely different from mine when in fact, they were likely very similar. I feel it as I stand there, listening to an explanation I don’t understand, but nodding intensely enough that the instructor asks me if I have a question, even without raising my hand. It’s odd—I don’t do anything about it for sure—I’m not studying very hard. I feel less smart than I’ve ever. Yet it’s there, a toxic kinda feeling, sitting in the pit of my stomach. Weirdly, I feel like there isn’t really anything for me except achieving those three things. I just want it and seem to want nothing else. It’s something I’ve never felt in my life, and it makes me laugh sometimes, but that doesn’t change the fact that I do want it. Leaving my alma mater, I feel like I belong there more than ever before.
I wanna be a great one I wanna be a great one I wanna make a million dollars Making all my days count What is life? What is love? What are lies? What is trust? What is everything? Everything is nothing without you
I wonder if it’s like Jessie Reyez says (Great One- Jessie Reyez). Maybe it’s because I don’t really have the idea of life, love anymore, which where such defining things in my life. It’s what gave me so much meaning and drive. And I’m in a new state than I’ve ever been before. Love and life, those things are just missing. I’ve either been in it or actively eschewed it prior to this. Of course, being in it had many shades and gradiences, but nevertheless I was in it, and when you’re in it, you consider it as a factor in your life. Right now, it’s just not there. No thoughts on it really. Memories, yes; nostalgia, yes; but also, lots of logic. It is what it is. And now that there is no salient life to work-life balance really, I feel like work should be everything. It feels like it could be everything. And maybe I can build life around that work. Maybe. Maybe I can and should have Money Power and Glory.
Cinderella (feat. Ty Dolla Sign)- Mac Miller
Separately from all that though, the nostalgia rings strong and goes all the way back. This one sounds like the summer soundtrack of the past. It’s funny how such a hype song can make you want to cry. Mac makes me cry for more reasons than one.
This hook is crazy, but this bit also literally makes me laugh out loud in public places. Parents really don’t understand sometimes, even though lately, I can see why they wouldn’t. But still. Also, I guess some people knew my taste more than I did.
Daddy told you, better bring your ass home Cinderella better get your ass home Man I swear the parents just don't understand You ain't gotta be old to be a man Take my hand, come with me to my room Girl I got a suite at the SLS I already know you got expensive taste Take my hand, follow me to my room Tell your little friends you gon' be alright Girl I got a plan for the whole night
Small Worlds- Mac Miller
The world is so small 'til it ain't yeah. I found this song as I was about to shower in Korea hidden in my extensive likes playlist on Spotify. I felt this a lot when I was in Korea. The world felt so big. Korea big enough, the US too far. I love this song for unknown reasons, cause it makes my heart ache. Mac makes my heart ache.
I might trip, I never fall God knows I've came close (Don't try this at home) I know I probably need to do better, fuck whoever Keep my shit together You never told me being rich was so lonely Nobody know me, oh well Hard to complain from this five star hotel I'm always in a rush, I've been thinking too much but
I might trip, I never fall. I’m def not at a five star hotel, but I can see how this could be. I bet it might be lonely. But that doesn’t change the fact that I want to get there to feel it.
Come Back to Earth – Mac Miller
I’m hoping that I’ll come back to earth. Thankfully, I don’t have any desire to send texts lately. But I would like a way out of my head.
My regrets look just like texts I shouldn't send And I got neighbors, they're more like strangers We could be friends I just need a way out of my head I'll do anything for a way out Of my head And don't you know that sunshine don't feel right When you inside all day
I am very very very lonely- Chance the Rapper (youtube)
I’m not that lonely, especially tonight. But yet I did file the cabinets and fixed/broke(?) the disha washa. The lyrics may be mundane and even a little sad, but with the playful tune, I think it’s the perfect feeling myself when I’m alone kinda song.
