Request: hellooo i was wondering if you could do (young) spencer meeting a young, pretty shy med student? (for example she’s 25 and he’s 30 or something) they could meet while investigating a crime scene and keep bumping into each other all the time, eventually getting together. i love fluff so it’d be great if it was cute and all :) hope you have a great day! ❤️

I start my day by opening up a school book. It’s my 3rd year in med school and I have an exam to study for. Yay. To find a way to distract me from my grueling task I turn on the news, hoping to find something interesting. There has been a murder behind Joe’s Bar in town. All we know is that she was a brunette female social worker. Stay safe out there. Holy shit. Joe’s Bar is only a mile from here. I turn off the tv, put on my shoes and head out to the bar to check out the crime scene.

I get to the bar and there is a crowd of people surrounding the police tape. I look and I see, Omg those people are from the freaking FBI! I see their jackets! I am snapped of my thoughts when someone bumps into me,

“Ah! Oh god, I am so sorry I’m just trying to get through.” the man says to me I look up and meet his eyes. Oh. My God. It has got to be the most handsome man I have ever seen. He is about 6’0- 6’1, amber eyes, soft smile, nice eyebrows and a great jawline. I look down and look at the jacket he is wearing. Oh my god he’s a FBI agent! A super cute one too! I always thought FBI agents were old white guys, or badass women.

“No uh, um, it’s fine! It was my fault I wasn’t paying attention. And It’s really nice because it’s not everyday you bump into a handsome cute man.” I say, stumbling a bit and having trouble making eye contact with the man. Probably blushing a bit.

“Ah no it’s mine as well. I also think you are pretty as well. Really pretty by the way. Also sorry I’m just tired. I was woken up early to work this case. I'm with the Behavioral Analysis Unit in the FBI.” he says scratching his head looking at me. All of me if I might add.

“Thank you and uh of course! You’re an FBI agent! That’s so cool by the way. I’m just a lame med student who’s 26 and barely has a life! But the Behavioral Analysis Unit, that sounds fancy.” I say sarcastically. “What’s your name?” I ask, hoping to get to know him.

“Uh um, I’m Dr. Spencer Reid! Uh also before you ask I am a doctor in mathematics, engineering, and chemistry. Also what you’re doing is- it’s amazing! You’re uh saving lives! Like me! Gah, sorry I forgot to ask what is your name?” He asks after mentally face palming himself. God it’s so cute.

“Im uh future Dr. Y/N Y/L/N! Nice to meet you!” I say while shaking his hand.

“Nice to meet you Y/N.” he says, then somebody in another FBI jacket yells something that I can’t quite hear. “Ah sorry I uh have to go. Nice meeting you Y/N!” he says running away into a SUV. Wow, that was the most awkward and sweet bumping into someone ever. Like ever. I then decide I’ve had enough and start to walk back to campus after I take a detour so it can be a longer walk. Because I am dreading studying for the exam.

It’s a day after the initial meet up with the cute Dr., and, it’s exam day. My exam is at 10 oclock so I decided to go to my favorite coffee shop to get a nice pick me up before I take an exam that will determine if I need to redo this year. And I am not redoing. I put on my hat because of the chilly Virginia air and I start walking to the coffee shop. When I get there it is decently quiet. I look around and I notice there is one man in line. He is wearing black slacks and a blue dress shirt with short curly brown hair. The man gets his drink and he turns around and- Oh my gosh. It’s the FBI agent from yesterday!

“Dr. Reid! Hi oh my gosh! It’s you again! How’s it going?” I ask him. He looks up, and looks confused for a second then he smiles and responds with,

“Y/N! Hi! It’s nice to see you um how's it going? Ah sorry I need to answer you first um I’m doing, doing well. This case is not being closed anytime soon.” He stumbles a bit. He looks down at his coffee and looks up at me. He looks tired. Very, very tired.

“I’m doing well! Well, sorta. I have an exam today. Also, it's sad to hear that nothing is going well with these crazy murders.” I say with a chuckle. I look up at him and meet his eyes. Those sweet eyes.

“You have kind eyes.” I say. Crap! Why did I just say that?

“I um, thank you.” he says looking at his feet fidgeting a bit. Ugh, he probably thinks I’m weird. He probably wants to run out of here and-

“Sorry I’m so awkward, I never really talk to women.” he says looking up at me and looking back down. Oh thank the lord it’s only bad social skills and not him hating my existence.

“Nah it’s all right, I don't get out much as well.” I say looking up at him. “I’m a med student so all I focus on is how to dissect an aorta! Not talking to cute guys.” I say with a smile to him. He looks up and meets my eyes. And I felt no worries about my exam or anything at all! Then the moment is interrupted by his phone ringing.

“Ah, sorry I have to go. Good luck on your exam!” He says running out of the building.

“Wait! Can I get your nu-!” damn it. Too late. He is already running down the block. I missed my chance. Yay. That’s always fun. I mean it’s totally like everyday you meet a cute FBI agent that’s your age and keep running into him and have great chemistry. Yeah totally that happens everyday. Gosh, I need to get my mind off him. I’m a med student and I have an exam. I can’t be thinking of cute boys right now. I then order my coffee, get it, and head back to campus to take my exam.

I sit on a bench outside of my campus dreading 1:00, the time I get my exam answers back. What if I fail? What if I have to keep redoing and redoing and never get to be a doctor? Or a surgeon? What if I never get a good job. All these thoughts keep going through my head and it gives me a headache. I get up and I decide to take a walk around campus. I get around to the main building and. No, it can’t be. This is the 3rd time this week! How is this even possible,

“Y-Y/N?” Spencer says running to me. Oh god. Cute agent alert.

“Oh hey Spencer! Wha- What are you doing here?” I ask him. Honestly being genuinely confused. I was wondering if he came to see me or if my roommate was like a serial killer. Eesh- that would not be fun. I do not plan on ending up in a morgue anytime soon.

“Oh we um found our guy and we were just looking for details on him. He was a janitor here.” He says looking at me.

“Oh god he worked here? Like I could have seen him before?” I say, shocked. I could have walked past a serial killer. Wow.

“Yeahh probably,” he says then he looks up at me and sighs. “Look Y/N, I think you’re really pretty. Andd I really like you and I’ve been to awkward to tell you because I think you’ll reject me because I’m lanky and-” I pull him in and I kiss him. Kiss him. I kiss a freakin FBI agent. Its soft, letting him know I get the memo. We pull away smiling and he asks,

“Would you like to uh um, go on a date? Tomorrow? At 7? I- I can pick you up!” He says hopefully, praying to the gods I say yes.

“Yes Spencer, that would be lovely.” I say pulling him in for another soft kiss. We pull away with our noses touching and I say,

“I think the universe wanted us to date so that’s why we kept seeing each other.”I say smiling.

“Yeah it probably was fate.” he says staring into me eyes.

“Yeah, maybe it was.”

Hey so I was wondering if you did/could do an analysis on clouds various panic attacks ptsd episodes and how he responds to each one I’m interested to read your thoughts on each one since you usually bring a new perspective to the table for me so thanks for that!

All of Cloud's ptsd attacks? Damn, that's a lot of searching I've got to do. I might not find them all. I'll do my best but you'll have to let me off if I miss a couple lol

Ok, spoiler warning for ppl who haven’t played – do I still need to do this? Eh ok, (I tag FF7R spoilers as final fantasy 7 remake spoilers) and it’s gonna be long.

Also, this is one person’s interpretation of the scene, so if you disagree that’s cool and we’ll agree to disagree.

You’re also gonna have to excuse the janky quality on some of the screens, I’m grabbing them from Youtube and it’s frustrating af trying to get the exact moment I want.

Recap time!

I explain Cloud's entire backstory which covers his PTSD and other issues here, so that should do for a recap right?

A further thing to note is that PTSD affects people differently and in Cloud's case it manifests as a psychological taunt in the form of Sephiroth. Embodiying his sense of failure, lack of self-esteem and self-actualisation, this version of Sephiroth is the one that Cloud reacts to the most strongly. This is the one that makes him whimper with fear and react on instinct instead of observing the situation and attacking. This is the one he fears, and it's a part of himself wearing a monster's face. Why Sephiroth? Who else has done him more harm? Sephiroth killed his mother, Tifa (so he assumes), burned his hometown to the ground and was indirectly responsible for his best friend's death, too.

And Cloud couldn't do a thing about it. He is the manifestation of everything that Cloud hates and fears about himself. Because of this, he's dissociated from much of his feelings. He still feels, but at a lesser degree than he should were he fully in touch with his real self.

Moseying on.

The first PTSD induced attack isn't actually prompted by Sephiroth himself, although he does feature in it. Cloud's first attack happens when he sees the destruction of sector 8 and buildings burning. This gives him the association of the last time he saw a burning building, which happened when his village burned. The sensory input of sights, sounds and smells prompted the memory, which combined with the high stress situation and Cloud's own latent anxiety and guilt for his part in this chaos.

You see a close up of Cloud's eye as it widens and real!Cloud's memory pushes to the forefront of his mind – remember, these memories are things SOLDIER!Cloud can't access at will, which is why they cause him pain when it happens.

Theres a static noise in the background, which is meant to convey a type of ringing in Cloud's ears and then the building's facade morphs to that of his house with the fence around it.

While much of what Sephiroth says is in line with this being a separate being from Cloud and not merely his own subconscious taunting him, there are elements of it being a combination of both. This is in line with the OG where Sephiroth was able to get in Cloud's head and make him doubt his own sense of self. With what we know of how Jenova's cells manipulate Cloud, it's believable that Sephiroth is both a separate being manipulating Cloud to his own ends and partly an aspect of Cloud's psyche that exists to push blame on him for everything. It's the representation of his mental illness that he struggles to fight.

Obviously, there's no fire, so Cloud sweating and breathless is because they're physical symptoms of his PTSD induced trauma.

Sephiroth's taunting lines about how he killed Cloud's mother are overkill when you consider the real Sephiroth's personality. The combination of the overarching Sephiroth and Cloud's PTSD version make a powerful foe that he never really beats. This is a metaphor for the fact those with mental illness are never really free. It's a lifetime battle and even if they're in recovery, that demon is just waiting for one weak moment when they can get them back in their grip.

You can hear Cloud gasp in this scene as once again Sephiroth appears to taunt him. He's not fully recovered from the last attack and now there's another right on top of it. Sephiroth appearing is once again partly Cloud's own trauma and partly the Jenova cells in him warping his perception and allowing Sephiroth to mess with him.

Unlike the time before, this Sephiroth vision is a simple taunt that Cloud is too weak to save anyone. This is his guilt and self-loathing talking about how he couldn't save his mom, Tifa or his town. It could also be hinting that he couldn't save Zack either.

The hidden implication of this scene is the fact that Sephiroth puts his hand on Aerith's shoulder. This is the only time Sephiroth touches anyone besides Cloud.

The next time Cloud has an attack is during the reactor 5 mission. This happens because of Tifa's presence drawing out the painful memory of the Nibelheim reactor where he believed she died after facing down Sephiroth.

Even in the midst of his PTSD attack he looks to Tifa. She doesn't know what's happening with him and he backs away from taking a chance to confide in her, but even during this moment when he's showing weakness he has very good eye contact with her. He's looking her directly in the eye, which he wouldn't do if he wasn't comfortable with her. This shows that Cloud sees her as a source of comfort and support.

You can see the lingering doubt on his face here after he dismisses the attack. He's not aware of what the memory means because he's not in touch with the full story – that belongs to real!Cloud kept hidden away. He knows it's left him unsettled and feeling like a failure. This is one of the few times I've seen that Cloud doesn't dismiss out of hand the content of the attacks.

Tifa repeats a phrase she said back then and Cloud's sense of failure surfaces, causing him pain and to freeze up. We get a voice over from real!Cloud referring to the time he believes he let Tifa down. Before the SOLDIER persona can get too deep into it or question what he means, Barret yells for him to focus. Cloud shakes off the paralysing feelings, but that doesn't stop Tifa asking it he's ok, which he dismisses again. This is typical of truama survivors pushing their feelings down and attempting to function without ever truly dealing with the source of their pain.

This next flash is prompted by the events during chapter 8 where the children get into trouble and Cloud has to rescue them. It echoes a similar even in his past where Tifa climbed Mt Nibel and fell, despite his best efforts to save her. She spent a week in a coma and Cloud was blamed for the incident and told to stay away from her.

The past emotions of guilt and failure mingle with the present situation to prompt a flash of pain as the memory of Tifa surfaces. It's his feelings of guilt and having failed her that cause the pain, not Tifa herself because when he says to Aerith he doesn't know how to explain he turns to the spot where he saw the vision of Tifa and smiles wistfully. This means Tifa herself doesn't cause him pain. The feelings he has about himself, do.

Chapter 13 and omg I love this freak out! I'm sorry, but this is such a great moment for Cloud and really highlights how low he is at this point. This shows the depth that we miss from him always having his SOLDIER persona taking charge. He's just lived through a tragedy. He's seen the girl he likes in pieces and trying to hold it together. He wants to comfort her. He wants to be himself, but he can't because he's just not good enough. He's feeling like a failure in more ways than one. He lost people too, goddamnit!

Then, in a misguided attempt to distract Tifa from her pain, he stumbles right into a trigger point for his own trauma. Of course he wouldn't know this. It's one of those flashes of Sephiroth ranting about his role and Jenova and shit. (I might have mistakenly said this was a future-flash somewhere, but then I remembered he does this rant right before he kills everyone in Nibelheim).

There's very little blocking to the memory. This is pretty well sealed by real!Cloud compared to his other memories. Even painful ones of Tifa have more context than this. This is something that is so damaging to Cloud's psyche that he can't even fill in the space around it.

So, we get the same kind of staticky noise we heard in chapter 2 when the vision of Sephiroth showed. Cloud gasps pretty loud here tbf. He's unguarded because of the vision and possibly his own distraction about what he's just been through. He wasn't prepared to see Sephiroth here even more than he was back in chapter 2 when he had a full on panic attack.

I mean, his pupils are seriously dilated here. Boi is scared.

Cloud's whimpering and my heart breaks for him. Sephiroth is hitting all his weakest points by bringing up failure and mentioning it's not the first time that's happened. Cloud's at a low point already, so it's not unexpected he backs away from this rather than tries to fight. This isn't SOLDIER!Cloud. This is real!Cloud. The fear has driven real!Cloud to the surface and he wants to run away, just like Sephiroth taunted back in chapter 2.

“Through suffering you will grow strong. Isn't that what you want?”

Clearly not by the look on Cloud's face. The part of him that's real!Cloud within this moment looks like he wants to scream that he's had enough of being in pain. He wants to shake his head and deny that he deserves it. What did he ever do wrong?

I feel like this is more of Cloud's own subconscious taunting him and implying that he deserves everything bad that happens to him, rather than it being the external Sephiroth manipulating Jenova's cells. He's saying Cloud secretly wants to suffer because that's all he should ever get in life. He thinks if he suffers enough pain that he'll be stronger for it, instead of the broken person that he really is. This is the type of thing people who’ve lived through trauma deal with every single day. It’s a never ending barrage of not feeling good enough and worrying that your entire existence is a bother to society. Not even just those close to you, you are a blight on the world. That Cloud’s internal trauma is so deeply rooted in this figure of Sephiroth narrows his focus and makes him project all of his fears onto him. It’s no wonder he freezes.

Now, not strictly a PTSD glitch, but it does provoke a very strong reaction from Cloud, and definitely plays into his fears, so I'm gonna include this one on the proviso it's more fear motivated.

This is the moment he sees Tifa stabbed during the VR cut scene. Sephiroth hijacked it to show them meteor, but then he also killed Tifa and then Barret. We know later on that Barret actually dies, so having seen this, Cloud may well relate back to this deep seated fear that he can't save Tifa and she'll die because of him and it'll cause further attacks. This is also a callback to the time in the reactor in Nibelheim when Tifa was stabbed by Sephiroth and Cloud couldn't save her – this ties to the PTSD flashback he had during the reactor 5 mission where he saw Tifa picking up Sephiroth's sword, so it's got precedence to cause him further trauma once he connects the dots. The fact it provokes such a strong emotional response from him – so much so that his entire face changes – I suspect that real!Cloud came out to motivate him to run to her out of the fear he'd just seen her die in front of him – again. The shock and disbelief on his face, the utter heartbreak. His expression changes from SOLDIER!Cloud to real!Cloud in less than 3 seconds. I checked. As a trigger for his trauma, Cloud's fear of losing Tifa pushes him to a lot of things he wouldn't normally do.

This is more of a memory glitch than PTSD since it's tied to the grunt recognising Cloud and calling him out on the false memories he has of being a SOLDIER. He says they went through training together and Cloud's eyes narrow as though he's trying to reconcile a truth against a lie. The truth that real!Cloud was a grunt and SOLDIER!Cloud is a fake.

There's some distress on his face here that links back to the point during the airbuster battle when he first learned about cell degradation. He knows what he believes is true isn't quite right, but he can't figure out why. SOLDIER!Cloud is unaware of the SOLDIER persona he constructed to protect his real self from further trauma. In OG when Cloud finds out – through Sephiroth’s skewed af bullshit – it causes a complete mental break, so real!Cloud's right to be wary of triggering himself because he's not in a good enough place to deal with what he's done to protect himself. He'd blame himself for being even more weak than he thought.

This is more interesting. Usually whenever anyone questions Cloud about his false identity he claims it, while also rejecting it by saying “ex-SOLDIER”, but in Hojo's case, he seems to hesitate, as though part of him knew it would be questioned and wouldn't hold up. Since Hojo's the one who did this to Cloud, it's likely the truth of what happened couldn't be kept back by the SOLDIER lies.

Pained again, Cloud turns his head away, as though he can shut out the truth. Hojo's image glitches for him and it's reminiscent of the OG moment where Cloud confronts Hojo and asks if he can be a proper experiment instead of a failed one (or something like that. I haven't played OG in like 5 years)

The trauma from what Hojo's done is quickly brushed under the carpet thanks to the arrival of the whispers. This is the second time they appear to prevent Cloud learning too much about his past too early. (Dammit, I forgot about deep ground, I'll circle back to it or I'll lose the order for my screenshots)

I'm not including the long corridor walk prompted by Jenova because that's a loading screen and also it happens not because of anything that Cloud experienced in the location, but because the outside influence of Jenova called to him. His only association with Jenova is the infusion of cells, though how he got them does set off attacks. Actually, here's a good point for the deep ground screen.

Preview of zombie Cloud for Mideel anyone? I mean, what can I say? He's totally checked out and it's scary. No wonder he doesn't wanna remember any of it if this is what he was like at the time. Imagine being so doped up with mako that you're not even you any longer? Having experiments carried out on you and god knows what else. Being stuffed in a chamber jammed full of alien dna and left to see what happens.

This is what broke him. I'd say it's similar to the faceless Squall cut scene from the end of FF8. It's chilling. No wonder he crafted an entire persona to protect himself from remembering this.

So this is the culmination of all the other attacks he's had. We get flashback elements from several that threaten to overwhelm Cloud. He's clutching his head. He's in serious pain and can't do anything. He manages to push through and ask if it's really Sephiroth. He then grabs his left arm when it begins to hurt. This is because Sephiroth is left handed. This is also the same arm that had the major infection of geostigma in AC.

Conclusion

Cloud is a messed by puppy and I ship him with therapy.

PTSD is a tricky thing to accurately show, especially in this case when it's not all totally mental illness and there are outside factors that skew how it's portrayed. Part of Sephiroth is within Cloud, though I do suspect it's more of an aspect of his own feelings of self-loating and doubt than it is actually Sephiroth. That's not to say there isn't also a genuine part of Sephiroth within these visions influencing Cloud to do what he wants, but I think it comes down to the context of the moment.

Cloud's been through a lot of shit and fronts like nothing else. He's managed to get away without any kind of vices or coping mechanisms besides this alternate persona that actually does ok in following the real!Cloud's lead when his deeper urges motivate SOLDIER!Cloud into doing things. I mean there's a point where there's a clear debate between the two about dancing for Andrea. All that back and forth eye movement and then the grimace and “fine, for Tifa” expression wasn't necessary if it was just SOLDIER!Cloud.

It's gonna be hard for Cloud to hear that he's not real in the sense that he thinks he is. It's gonna break him. We've got a preview of his scary vacant Mideel look and it's terrifying. Major props to Tifa for refusing to give up on him.

I’m starting with my favorite of all time and tbh I think the fandom should see this fic as a OG, like Auf Weiderstein Sweetheart or Gutters, I really do.

The war is over, but putting together everything that fell apart will be a greater challenge than anyone is prepared to handle. Alliances dissolve, and the lines between friends and enemies are blurrier than ever before.

Opinion: Please read it. It is a series with a sequel and a prequel that can be read on its own but it’s so good. Imma go on a quick rant here. This fic is great from the writing, plot, characters, and the nuances of nationhood abilities. I literally rioted during the first chapter because it was so good. One of my absolutely favorite things in the fic and the series as a whole is Prussia. Kingdom of Prussia, German Democratic Republic, Gilbert Beilschmidt. His character progression and seeing him through the series as a whole is astounding. I was literally left shaken at the end of this series and I’ve read it twice. The OC’s are usually the antagonists, but hot damn, they are memorable OC’s who are great (terrible?) villains. And the family dynamics! The family dynamics are enough of a reason to read it by itself and the romances. Omg I love this fic so much. Main takeaways: astounding characterization, amazing plot, will cry, long read, and a reality check on what it means to be a nation.

Would it be too much if I did a separate post on how much I love this series and an in depth analysis? (I feel like such a nerd omg)

Alfred is homeless during the Great Depression and in his wanderings he's charged with the task of caring for a small orphaned Taiwan. AU-Human names used, Taiwan is a child.

Opinion: So incredibly heart warming. It’s well written and I love the dialogue so much. Also, the little cameos from other characters are an absolute delight. It’s a it short, but so wholesome.

Opinion: I realllly like this fic. Maybe I’m a bit bias because I remember reading it from like to third chapter and watching it get updated till the end, but this is really good. Cute gerita, great characterization, good plot, and some lines just really make me melt. And the fluff omg. There’s a sequel that’s linked under too that I may like more than the first.

That was twenty-six years ago. Twenty-six years Matthew had not seen Gilbert. Twenty-six years of Matthew worrying about if his fiancé was alive or not. Matthew Williams, the personification of Canada, never thought that he would fall in love, but he did. He fell in love with Gilbert Beilschmidt, the personification of Prussia, but their romance would have to be cut short with the up coming war that was soon approaching them.

Opinion: My god my heart. Matthew had great characterization. Like amazingly so. 10/10 somber and melodic tones throughout the story. Good tension. And again, my heart.

Opinion: It’s really cool. It’s told through media, like email, twitter, texts, online magazines, subtitles of videos (not actual videos tho). I love the outside view point of the world on nations and how some people really like them and how others absolutely despise their very existence. One of the main things that sticks out the me is the in depth analysis other humans or posters do on the nations and people even interview the nations, chapter eight is like my favorite for that reason, or how some humans just gush about the nations on so media like how half the fandom does lol. It’s really good. Super creative, great insight on how to world sees the nations, and honestly a great read.

Opinion: Literally so cool. Like nations are total BS to outsiders, especially assassins. I was loosing it during this fic because from Bucky’s POV nations are something else. The writing is really solid and the author uses italics to highlight an action sound or word and even single-word thoughts. The fight scene is really entertaining but also it flows fantastically.

Opinion: No actual nations appear in this fic. It’s just two men talking about the nations and it’s really interesting to see them humor and take seriously the idea of nations. They both discuss what they already know about the nations and theorize. Also hearing an outside perspective and how the nations effect the word around them is golden. I give this fic a big ol’ chef’s kiss.

Opinion: This just be a legitimate book. I have honestly read this one like three time and every time I read it I am absolutely elated to discover another detail or action I missed. It is a longer read but I think it is absolutely worth it. For one, the characterization is beautiful. Maybe I might be bias because I stan and love the Baltics, but how they are written compared to the many other fics I’ve read on them is phenomenal. While the author does take some creative liberties and deviates from canon a little, like the Baltics actually considering themselves to be brothers, I really enjoy the changes. ALSO, the history and research and on this fic is genuinely impressive. To think fic authors do this shit for fun and pour so much of their passion into a piece of writing. Secondly, while Russia may be an antagonist in this story, I honestly think it is just. His mentality, backstory, and current predicament explain his behavior and make him a justifiable antagonist. I highly recommend this one.

Opinion: I hate this fic because I love it way too much. I might of cried a little bit and I instantly melt of Francis and Matthew.

The time was World War II, at the dawn of a global conflict like nothing any of the Nations had ever seen before. Nothing could've prepared them for what lay ahead: a war more total and radical than anything they could ever have imagined. This wasn't just business as usual; it was centuries' worth of pent-up emotions all coming into play at once. This was indeed their darkest hour.

Opinion: Characterization is on point. One part of this fic I remember very well during a fight to the death, Finland mutters a little “Oh dear”. The characters retain some of the qualities that make them silly in Hetalia but because this is another take on it it does get darker. I think Germany’s portrayal is my favorite because he does cruel and unnesscary things and questions it because its not his usal nature. The author notes are super insightful and sometimes funny; it really adds to the rest of the story. I might revisit this post to make a more in depth opinion on it because I don’t remember it all to well when I know I really like this one.

There’s evidence for BOTH romantic AND parental Bellarke relationships. Do you want them to be both? No. Is it faulty reasoning or contradicted by reality? 3. In order to become the mother and father, a couple needs to have a baby. The archetypal way, the original way, to have a baby is to do the horizontal mambo and make one. Maybe you don’t realize this because you are still in a juvenile level of development, where your focus is on finding someone to bone, so the primary concept of mating for you is about “omg does he/she really like me?” But I am old. BTDT. So is JR, actually. Old. AND BTDT. He has said that he has modeled Clarke and Bellamy’s relationship after his relationship with his wife. That is an established couple, with two children, that has lasted what? 20+ years? I’m guessing. No. It’s not all about boning anymore. Guess what? That’s not so bad. Does it EXCLUDE romance and boning? No it does not. That’s still a part of an established relationship. A MATED pair, means, literally, they are mated, have mated are mating. Mating means literally boning to procreate. That’s how you get a family. Not the only way. But that’s how they start, my little confused everlasting gobstopper.

5. Every time one of you says I’m delusional, I get depressed about your education. I’m pretty sure most of you are calling me that are not under 18 and actually have made it through high school english. I need to explain something. I’m not doing something esoteric here. I am doing BASIC literary analysis. This is what you were taught in high school. Come up with a hypothesis, defend it with evidence from the canon text, and then come to a conclusion on what it all means. This “meta” you guys get all het up about? This is a simple analytical essay. True, I have more of a background in the topic than most people, so I am pulling on a wider range of evidence than most, from literature to science fiction to fashion design to film making to comparative religion. But just because I know more about a topic than you do does not make me delusional. It actually makes ME an expert, and YOU a novice. Not knowing something about a topic doesn’t make that topic invalid. And it doesn’t mean that there’s something wrong with you. It is VERY easy to google the topic and learn a little bit. When someone talks about a book or a concept that I am unfamiliar with, I go straight to google. I literally do. Here. New tumblr interpretation that I’ve never heard of? Let me check that. Oh hello, wiki. This is why I am not ignorant. Because I don’t assume that things I am unfamiliar with are delusional. If you have no idea what I am talking about and it seems delusional to you, I suggest you google what I am talking about, and you will find hat I am talking about, generally, an academic discipline that has been around for centuries if not millennia. #2 The supernatural couch - Why season six and seven make my soul sad.

A Destiel Analysis. #for the fans

My last piece was a bit of a Destiel love letter. Let’s face it, I’m smitten and they’re all going to be Destiel love letters. This time I wanted to discuss season six and seven, specifically Castiel/Dean and the breakdown of their relationship. I just want to clarify, that this is the end of season six when Cas takes up with Crowley.

For me, the whole dynamic of Destiel is fascinating. Not just on the obsessive fangirl side but the psychological deconstruction of the character makeup and...yeah I just lost most of you didn’t I?

Let’s be honest episodes eighteen to well the whole of season seven is an emotional sledgehammer to Destiel fans. We enter the heartbreak motel and we don't leave for a good, long while. So we have to hold on to what we can throughout the agony.

To begin, we see why Cas is doing what he is more clearly in episode twenty of season six, this is where we’re in the metaphorical parking lot of the heartbreak motel. In ‘The man who would be king’, we better understand how he’s struggling with his choices, in this, he is more human than he has ever been. Cas is still feeling torn in the episode and we see that abate as the season closes. The healing of Lisa was the last moment that Cas tried to fix things, it’s the last moment we see Cas’s emotions so close to the surface. When Cas breaks down the wall in Sam’s mind, he’s numb, as Cas tells Crowley their deal is over, he’s numb, as he kills Balthazar, he’s just numb.

This is one of the saddest moments for me. Cas has such a huge heart, he’s so full of love, hope and innocence in so many ways, to watch him compress all of that and to hurt people he loves; heartbreaking...chokes…

So that scene where Cas smiles at Crowley and its all like ‘hahahah I’m a supernova’ is a double-edged sword. We love that Cas is all, ‘yeah I’m still good’ and that’s a ‘Yes!’ from the fandom but then Deans all, ‘I would have died for you’, that speech’ is ahhhhhh all the angst because of the words ‘would have’ but still with all the feels.

It’s soul smut for someone like me who lives for those moments. But then, *dramatic pause* Dean’s speech doesn't work and this is mostly because Cas is high as a damn kite. He’s roasty toasty up on his power filled trip to ‘i’m a new god’ land and nothing is bringing him down not even an angel sword to the kidneys.

The pain in Dean’s face is why I love this episode (I hear your collective gasp of horror) stay with me. In episode twenty, we sit as a fandom with our hearts in our hands and we cry. We watch Cas break Deans' heart and it doesn't stop there. Cas pushes Dean to the edge in three separate episodes on all levels, but, Dean never let's go. Flick back to earlier in the season when Dean is aching to kill his grandfather for handing them over to Crowley, a much smaller offence than some of the things Cas does. These include betrayal, working with the said demon, the whole Lisa/Ben fiasco, Sam’s brain dam debacle and yet when push comes to shove Dean pleads with Cas. He doesn’t threaten him, he just begs. He begs him ‘Don't make me lose you too’, so he’s using a lot of past tenses throughout, but that one phrase is in the present tense and that my friends is what’s important.

It’s all pain and loss, Dean is done and he’s bearing his soul. Sadly, talking to Cas at that moment is like trying to convince someone on an acid trip out of forming a friendship with the floating green leprechauns that are making pie in the toilet, it’s useless and that makes it both better and worse. Better because it’s not really Cas, Dean knows that and worse because Cas will regret this later, like all good highs there will be a catastrophic comedown. So, the reason I like seeing the pain (in this and at the beginning of season seven) is that you can see the bond being strained but it is like an elastic band, it just snaps back.

Season seven, episode one Dean listens to the radio to Cas’s exploits and he says he’s not worrying, but he is because he keeps on listening. Then Dean orders Death to kill Cas’s and the look he gives him is pained. Dean still doesn't really want this to work, then he spirals into despair because he really thinks Cas is gone, destroyed by the power. Sam is the one that pushes them both, because Sam ships them as his OTP and is the glue for them plenty of times, so cue the glue. Cas returns and whamo!

All's right with the world ... except for Cas’s gaping chasm of regret, the possible release of evil thingies, Cas’s dying vessel and Sam’s mental breakdown...but we’ll take what we can get. And then Cas’s says he sorry and OMG I’m dying...Dean’s face when they think Cas’s dead...and then he’s ALIVE and then Levithan...my heart can’t take it. THEN it gets WORSE! Dean freaking rolls up Cas’s coat and the lip! The lip tremble and I’m done.

And that my friends is why season six/seven hurts my warm inside bits.

WKJEFBWKHEFBWE thats so funny i love that youre seeing memes in germany well back before lockdown 3 every region in england was classified into a tier originally there were 3 tiers so for areas with low covid infection rates they were in tier 1, which is like you can meet indoors as a group of 6 from different households, all the shops etc. are open basically as close to normality as we’ve got since the summer here, then tier 2 is the next one up which is you cant mix households indoors but you can meet in groups of 6 outdoors, and then tier 3 was meant to be the strictest one which was you can only meet one person from another household outdoors so pubs etc were shut, and then a few days before xmas the govt introduced tier 4 which was essentially lockdown except schools were still open so non-essential shops/hairdressers/gyms etc were shut and now we’re back in full lockdown schools are closed unis are closed everything is shut we’re only allowed to leave the house for certain reasons anyway i cant lie the tier memes are incredibly funny to me sometimes the british public has rights and their sense of humour is one of the only times

Remus Lupin in HBP : notes

hey guys ! i am currently trying to reread the hp series, hoping to gain a better understanding of remus’ character. i started with this book bc it was physically closer to me than the other ones and i hate moving.

i will transcribe all these messy notes in a fully detailed and well explained analysis, but first i thought i would post the notes i took from the book bc they are fun and very extensive, so maybe other people can then use them for their analysis of the character ( if you do, please credit me )

warning : they are, however, not very academic. i tried not to get subjective, or at least to state the facts before to add my own reactions. also, i read the book in french so i wasn’t able to quote the book directly and also sometimes i nickname dumbledore “dumbie the meanie”

oh and also a lot of these were written late when i was half asleep so my english is probably terrible and they might not always make sense.

and finally : i swear a lot. and capitalize a lot. get ready.

- Molly mentions that he comes to visit the Weasley household

- Hermione mentions that he tried to make Tonks feel better about Sirius’ death ( including the fact that she didn’t manage to defeat Bellatrix therefore stopping her from killing him ) what a sweet and gentle bean

- first actual apparition in chapter 6 : Harry says his clothes look even more miserable than ever, that he seems too thin and depressed and that he had a lot of white hair SOMEBODY HUGS THAT CHILD

- also he talks about an ex death eater that had been killed and says « i’m surprised he survived an entire year after leaving the death eaters ; if i remember correctly regulus only lasted a few days » which shows that he knows a lot more about regulus’ death than everybody else – makes quite a lot of sense

- literally can’t stop speaking about the war and people who died and how things aren’t looking up for their side

- we see that a lot of protection spells and such are against werewolves : while most of them are scams, i wouldn’t be surprised there was a lot of silver going around at the time, which isn’t a good sign for remus’ safety and health ( mental and physical )

- draco says fenrir greyback is a friend of his family – was he possibly a friend of the blacks ? I need answers

- at hogwarts, harry says that he hoped lupin would write to him, but that he didn’t. He seems disappointed

- he spends christmas with the weasleys ! Why is no one talking about this friendship

- when harry sees him, he thinks he looks skinnier and more miserable than ever. I guess dumbledore is too busy getting harry ready to die to buy him some FREAKING FOOD

- also even on christmas eve in the middle of some bloody party he stays by himself near the fire and looks depressed, he only starts partaking in the conversation when the war is mentionned

- says dumbie the meanie sent him with the werewolves where he was unable to communicate with anyone. He also says ( will have to check in the english version ) that the werewolves are « his pears and equals » in a probably self pitying way

- harry says he seems bitter about having been asked to do this job. ( again, need original text ) but he also appears to be upset to be seen as the token werewolf here

- as soon as he realizes he sounds bitter he tries to smile and says he isn’t complaining and that it’s true that he should do this job and that it is necessary blablabla much BS

- he says other werewolves have a hard time trusting him bc he lived with wizards and they had to steal and kill to eat ( bc… you obviously look… so well fed… and privileged… )

- when harry asks him who Greyback is, he visibly tenses , but when he is the one to mention him ( talking about his mission ) he seems pretty normal

- ALSO he apparently has to see Greyback for his mission what the fork dumbie

- says greyback wants to create an army to overpower the wizarding world sounds festive and also that werewolves have a right to blood and should seek revenge on « normal people »

- seems surprinsingly open to discussing how he got bitten ? Like harry asks if it was when he was a kid and remus just roll on about what happened and his feelings good for him

- for a long time he thought the werewolf who bite him had done it by accident and felt sorry for them and apparently learnt the truth much later HOW DID YOU LEARN IT SOUNDS SO ANGSTY

- when harry says remus is normal and just has a « problem » it reminds him of james and he immediatly starts laughing his heart out this is both nice and really sad

- then starts sharing precious childhood memories and cheers up once again this is both nice and sad

- after that he jokes a bit and wow only a mention of james and his childhood made that sad lonely man so happy i want to cry

- AND MORE AND MORE CHILDHOOD MEMORIES ABOUT THE MARAUDERS

- talks a lot about james but avoids mentioning sirius even when harry tries to bring him up and doesnt even come close to talking about peter

- apparently he got a weasley sweater for christmas this is the cutest thing ever

- remus confirms once again that he isn’t speaking to anyone and probably avoids human contact as much as humanly possible this boi needs a good old therapist

- harry considers remus a patronus expert ??? chill just bc he thaught you that doesn’t mean he wrote his thesis on it

- but apparently he did bc guess who knows exactly why your patronus would change ???

- gets a bit awkward when tonks’ patronus is mentioned and is less at ease with words than usually. Also talks very slowly ( to remember when writing pining remus !! )

- hermione asks about him at hogwarts after the holidays PEOPLE CARE REMUS STOPS AVOIDING EVERYONE

- HOW COULD I FORGET TO MENTION THAT WHEN SNAPE IS MENTIONED HE IS LIKE « YA SURE HE RUINED MY LIFE AND THE ONE OF EVERY OTHER WEREWOLF IN THE COUNTRY BUT I SHOULD BE GRATEFUL THAT HE MADE ME THIS POTION »

- also he says harry’s feelings of hate towards snape come from the old predjudice inherited from james are fucking with me 1) hate justified 2) he literally used the m slur against lily and took part in racist bullying becoming later a facist and 3) i dont really think james had the time to teach harry that snape was a bad guy do you ? #calledout

- tonks hints that remus isn’t giving her any news about, for example, whether he’s alive or not. Remus really ? Bad manners.

- when Harry looks at all the detention’s files, he says Remus’ and Peter’s names were only occasionnally associated with the ones of James and Sirius, who were much more punished. Prank example : inflating another student’s head

- so this is more about greyback than remus but he talks really freely about biting children ( which must have been joyful to hear about poor lil remus ) and other death eaters hex him ? They never hex each other ? So they probably feel pretty entitled to hexing any werewolf that come their way

- also something about this attack bothers me. Dumbledore said he asked for the order members in hogsmeade to come to defend hogwarts but why was remus here then ? And later, when he tells about the battle, he says he saw greyback but there is no mention of them fighting or something yet greyback was supposed not to know remus was a spy for the order ? What is going on here i need answers

- i think remus’ bite mark was probably somewhere on his neck bc that’s where greyback wanted to bite harry. Does remus have to wear constant turtlenecks to hide it ? Omg

- REALLY SNAPE ? When they are both fighting after he killed dumbie he wants to run off and harry calls him a coward and he answers “oh yeah well when your dad bullied me it was always four against one so ha who’s the coward now” like WOW i do not appreciate you and oh also i guess possible information about the fact that the marauders acted together against snape but it’s kind of a contradiction with snape’s own memory where it’s only sirius and remus ? Guess snape is just making things up

- at the school hospital, remus has to stay with bill, who just got attacked by greyback, and that cannot be fun

- people don’t dare to say the word werewolf around remus for some reason

- HOW DOES REMUS KNOW WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN TO BILL AFTER HIS HALF BITE WHAT DID HE WITNESS WHILE SPYING

- when he learns that dumbledore died, he has a complete breakdown ( well he falls to a chair and hides his face in his hands and looks really distressed ) and harry says it’s the first time he sees remus losing control of himself. People underestimate how loyal to dumbie the meanie remus was

- he justified snape for a very long time but as soon as he learns he kills dumbledore ? He goes full ‘i hate him’ mode and says he has been a death eater spy the whole time

- he also used to say snape versus marauders was just old school rivalries but now he says « um, snape hated james » so really a lot of his attitude was really influenced by dumbledore

- as he is himself completely devastated, he takes time to comfort everyone and says « nah it’s not your fault » to everyone who blames themselves

- says a death curse nearly hit him during the battle. That is not a part of his character analysis but damn

- he « recovers » pretty quickly from his breakdown. Like they say his tone is harsh but that’s all lol wish i could get over something that fast

- nah kidding he’s probably just used to all the ‘don’t let them see, don’t let them knoooow’

- MOVING ON TO THAT REMUS/TONKS SCENE I DISLIKE

- as soon as tonks opens her mouth to talk about them dating, he ‘suddenly tenses’

So I just finished watching Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Bladeworks

and oh boy do I have a lot to say about it. In fact, I kept Tumblr open the entire watchthrough and sent a stream of real-time commentary to @fragrantricepaddy. Since I know a few others who will want to hear my thoughts, I’m going ahead and making a big post about it. Commentary is below the cut-off. SPOILERS AHEAD

SEASON 1

I'm loving it so far: -90% Shiro, +200% Rin.

Rin's first Command was probably the single best use of a command seal I've seen in Type Moon so far

Rin and Archer's banter gives me life

So, there was a problem with Archer's summoning, and Rin says she'll "figure out what to do about it later". Judging from previous Type-Moon, that means a magic ritual involving Rin and Archer f**king, right?

they keep showing the same shot of the Tohsaka manor, and the laziness in that regard is really bothering me

somebody get Sakura a teddy bear. she looks dead inside

the whole "Servants consume minds and souls" thing makes Type-Moon magic sound even more Lovecraftian. adding it to the evidence list

Rin's faith in Archer is just... I can't even... "Handle the landing", goddamn iconic

hmm, that was a suspiciously aggressive first action by Saber.

wtf was Sakura doing meeting with Gilgamesh in the middle of the night

man, Shiro just served Shinji with a smile. Unlimited Blades is characterized by +300% sass

every single highway shot is giving me Berserker flashba- oh this is actually that scene

The teacher character has many virtues, one of which is being an age-appropriate crush. More importantly, I don't think I've ever seen a more relatable character in all of anime

Saber's looking at Illya, and I still can't figure out if she's lacking memories in this series.

Shirou's having his existential crisis

Kirei seems thrilled that Shirou's participating, but after Kiritsugu, it really seems like a downgrade as far as rivals go. His standards must have really slipped over the years.

Rin just tried to fuckin end Illya. cold.

Anime gets +2 points for Shirou NOT falling on Rin's chest when they bump into each other. Another +2 points for Rin putting him in a hold anyway.

The dialogue contains a lot of sexual subtext. Terms like consent and intercourse are thrown about in reference to Master-Servant and Servant-Servant interactions. What's your game, Type-Moon...

Everybody in this show has daddy issues

I feel like they got a different writer for Shirou's dialogue than they did for every other character in this show - and they paid Shirou's writer a lot less money

Oh my god, you're having breakfast with a lovely Heroic Spirit, stop making discoveries about Rin

Ms. Fujime seemed to have the strongest objections, but she's going to be single-handedly responsible for the harem aspect of this anime.

Rin, why are you surprised to see him at school? You both go here.

So, Aioko goes missing, and they're all like "She was last seen with Shinji, but no one can find him." Doesn't that mean that they should be worrying about two missing students? There was a nearby murder. Why is Shinji under immediate suspicion?

Man, Rin's aim sure sucks.

I appreciate her class in not just smashing the door down and smoking him out instead.

There's something about magical inheritance that I'm not quite getting. It's been established that only one child can inherit family magic, but it's unclear why. One possibility is that the magic can only be physically held by one person at a time. As such, all a parent can do is teach their kid and do some kind of preparation that makes the magic pass to them upon their own death. However, that doesn't explain why Rin and Sakura were seperated in Fate/Zero. That seems to be entirely political. The impression there was that other families would not allow the Tohsakas to have two mage children, which indicates that multiple kids CAN be trained in the family magic. In that case, the restriction to only one child is probably to prevent families from raising small armies of child soldier-mages.

Shiro to Rin: "I know I'm not a mage" Shiro to Archer: "Fuck you, I'm a mage"

Saber: "You gave me your word that you would return before sunset" Shiro: "Well I also told you I'd summon you if I was in danger, but I didn't do that either" Saber: "..." Shiro: "YOLO"

Shinji: "Don't throw around false accusations" Shirou: "Oh no, you're doing a swell job of making everyone suspect you without my help"

Shirou knows Detect Secret Doors, Jon must be so happy

Oh no, Caster's seen Inuyasha

"So within these walls, you are able to mimic true magic" Caster Servants can't use true magic?!

Is Shiro the only one that seems concerned at Shinji's mental breakdown and maniacal laughter?

Man, Shiro just turned on the sass for Rin with NO MERCY

Wait, she scolded him so fiercely for going to school without Saber, and then she leaves Archer just so she can have some alone time with her new beau.

I can't believe that Shiro just "but no funny business"d Saber

Goddamn Shinji is such a little shit

My assumption is that Shinji didn't get the Mato magic because it's Sakura's by right of inheritance.

Rin's voice acting just got 50% more moe

And we interrupt this Holy Grail War for some boyxboy fanservice.

"You already checked him out?" "I sure did." The audience: He sure did.

"The heart of a mage chooses results over ideals" That sounds important - adding it to the list

Shiro, there comes a time in every young man's life when he experiences 'sword envy'...

I fucking KNOW Caster's voice actress, but pride prevents me from Googling it. Jesse?

Goddamn Saber needs to get a shield. She keeps injuring her left arm.

Shirou seems to be learning more from his enemies than from his allies.

You can tell the Matous are on the decline because their rapey bug-room has much fewer magic rape-beetles than normal.

Command seal seems to be a bit of a misnomer, considering we've seen them used as power sources for other magic. They're really just minor plot devices. I bet you could just use them to reconnect Saber and Shirou's link so she could get mana from him.

Jeez, I think the magic circuit overload must have fried a few of Shirou's brain cells. He's certainly slow on the uptake this morning.

Did the subs explain why Shirou stole that depleted healing gem from Rin?

Aaand the animators are really getting their kicks out of Saber's enslavement

Yeah, even without having seen the original series, I'd call BS on her having killed Kirei.

More flashbacks to the Keyblade graveyard - I mean, Archer's past.

Archer went from sassy older brother to Rin's personal motivational speaker in no time

Rin is the ballsiest motherf*cker wanting to take on Caster. I can see that Archer considers her wanting Shirou and Saber back together to be a weakness.

I get that Rin thinks she can beat Caster, but why would Rin think that CASTER would think that Rin could win?

"Come down here so I can kick your ass." get her, girl

Looks like Archer's looking ahead and playing the long game. He knows that he has to keep Caster in one place or surprise her. Head on confrontations won't work on her. I hope.

Good to see Shirou getting faster with that, but it looks like he's not fully recovered.

I would like to think that Rin can see what Archer's doing.

"I've always adored and watched you from a distance." your execution sucks

I like how neither Rin nor Shirou consider asking Shinji to join them for even a moment, but the crazy child who tried to murder them sounds like a Good Idea

Aaand Caster's flashback suddenly went even more Instrumentality Project than the Fate/Zero finale

I want nothing more than for Shirou to be like "Shinji? Last time I saw you you were pissing yourself running to the church."

Shirou: "I wanted to become a man like him." Audience: You really don't.

So if I'm getting my analysis right, if Shirou neglects his own happiness in the pursuit of saving others, all he will ever do is save people so that they in turn can martyr themselves (in the same way that Kiritsugu "saved" Shirou). But by the same token, if Rin keeps saving Shirou without making it clear that it's for her own desires, then she'll never be able to convince Shirou to be selfish.

Shirou just got all clingy bf. wow.

AND SHE'S INTO IT

*Lancer breaks the fourth wall*

"If I have to put up with this I'm gonna kick Caster's ass all by myself!" oh she'd do it too

Everyone with purple hair in this show needs a teddy bear and a warm hug

The Archer/Lancer fight is turning out to be my favorite anime fight scene

I feel like Rin was gonna warn Lancer that Archer likes to taunt and throw off his opponents, but the pridful fucker didn't listen, and now he's getting goaded. MAN I hope Archer's bluffing about his heel-face turn.

I am very content with their pre-battle resolutions and meal. The scene has a feeling of rightness to it.

"Saber doesn't stand a chance against him!" "On what basis do you make that judgement?" "On the basis that he's smoked every other Spirit he's fought without taking a scratch, while you got beaten up by a teacher with magic punches."

Aww, Rin doesn't want to tell Shirou he's their only hope of beating Goldy. Not sure whether it's her pride or that she doesn't want to put that pressure/risk on him.

Waitaminute, are Rin and Saber banging to do something magical circuit related?!?

NOPE

"All I told you to do is take your clothes off!"

But boy, Rin sure was acting like they were gonna have to bang to do the transfer. Type-Moon is using their own sleazy rep to fake-out the audience.

Anyway, Rin's plan for Shirou to use the reality marble is great, but she doesn't know about World Ender.

C'mon Shirou, a girl gives you her magic crest, you gotta at least do some pillow talk.

She fantasizes about him doing high jumps all day? Kinky.

The conversation they're NOT having is that, one way or another, Saber won't be here tomorrow.

Also, I'm reasonably certain that Gilgamesh was corrupted by the Grail when he got drenched in it. He didn't give a fuck about it before, but now he wants to do something symbolic about wiping out humanity with their own wishes. He was a chronic narcissist before, but now he's gone full megalomaniac.

Emiya-Archer making an appearance at the end did not at all fit with established mechanics and I am 100% okay with that.

Closing thoughts: -What pretty animation -The romance/fluff was excellent -Archer and Lancer clearly got the best dialogue -Shinji can go jump in a lake -Sakura still needs a teddy bear -Iris deserved better -Caster Did Nothing Wrong -Why is there an after-scene after the f*cking Epilogue? -Archer is such a buzzkill

7x12 review and thoughts

How is no one talking about the secret passageway on the game map?! They do no analysis of this board game at all!!!

‘What about Sidney? ‘- ‘Oh please let's not go there’ - Emily

‘Em you’ve already been there!’ - Spencer. Omg this made me laugh so hard

Emily is the one that wants out this time..interesting.

“I may have been the one driving this car but we have to be in this together ”- Hanna

I bet A.D didn’t know that the only new information being given this episode is to A.D! Obviously the game is insane and has a recording device, they know A has always stalked them, why do they talk right there? Why not ditch their phones and talk somewhere out in the open?

“Nicole Gordon was never his fiance, I am! ” - Aria. Oh Aria you wonderful crazy thing

Addison Derringer is not A. She probably got manipulated or bribed by Jenna, or another A minion, even the minions need minions in this A game.

Addison is just like Alison in high school, and Alison now.

I am loving Spencers dress and Arias' hair!

I can’t believe Veronica still backs up Peter..it infuriates me.

I really feel bad for Veronica, I do. She adopted a child who was born because her husband was cheating on her, she covered for his ass all these years and Spencer never felt like anything but a Hastings, I think Spencer is being pretty horrible to Veronica. I get that she hurting but she's in her twenties not she isn’t a child. What did she want Veronica to do? Discuss the fact that Peter is a cheating bastard and that Spencer is the result of an affair?

So..does Hanna make her own clothes to wear? Hence the ‘you went through my closet!’

Does she sew them? Design and send them somewhere to get made? Does she buy the materials?

Emily benches Addison for missing a practice, Addison is pure attitude, not even looking up from her phone.

“My head was throbbing, listening to your rusty whistle wasn’t going to help” - Addison, reminding us of old Ali.

Alison is in pay attention to me mode...what if I have one like her..or me... She has not decided if she is keeping the baby

So are Spencer and Marco together?

Spencer tells Marco about Mary and shows the letter, changes one detail..she found the letter rather than she was given the letter after playing a crazy board game

Hold up…if the beading, the belt, the collar was Hanna’s bosses idea that Hanna took then what did Hanna design? A plain black dress with a tutu skirt?

Addison is a little psycho, she goes to Paige, accuses Emily of hitting on her and other girls on the team then shows Paige a photo of Emily being’inappropriate’ with Alison, hoping to anger Paige. Addison's eavesdropping has paid off, she's overheard Emily and Paige, and Emily and Alison.

I find Holden really attractive this time, also he’s so damn normal, and nice, and sweet.

Aria taking off the ring, foreshadowing?

“Did Ezra propose to her first?”- Aria

Holden reminds Aria that everyone has a past, that even Aria has had other men tell her they love her, and she doesn’t talk to Ezra about that so maybe Ezra wouldn’t tell her if he had proposed to Nicole before she disappeared

“Just because you met him when you were in 11th grade doesn’t mean he’s frozen in amber” - Holden. Holden is so anti-Ezra but not in a tell Aria to ditch his ass way.

Emily tells Paige she will go tell Hackett about what Addison is doing, Paige tells Emily she will handle it before it gets worse and Emily is accused of hitting on students

Marco has a lead in. Mary..Lead out of Scranton! Mary Drake works at Dunder Mifflin!

Spencer has enlisted Marco to help find Mary

Tap tap tap Jenna is coming!!!

Jenna can identify Spencer by her breathing? Come the fuck on now. Jenna can see, at the very least she can partially see

So we know Jenna has been told to say all this, she does it convincingly, so convincingly that I question all the other times I’ve felt bad for Jenna when she has a sob story.

I think Jenna has always wanted revenge for the liars blinding her, and Noel for him getting suspended for cheating, and perhaps other things we don’t know about.

Jenna tells Marco that Noel was the psychopath that lured Jenna to the blind school to kill her, and he had her work for him so she could have money for eye surgery.

Not sure why Marco didn’t take Jenna aside, to begin with..it’s unprofessional and ridiculous to let Spencer stand there as Jenna makes her statement

Hanna tries to call Claudia about the dress...

“She has balls the size of church bells.” - Omg Spencer..just omg.

She hasn’t told Marco about the game but seems to want to.

Sparia discusses Spencer wanting to find Mary. She wants to get to know Mary, not as someone to fear but to forgive.

Jenna walks in with 2 other blind people, flanking her on either side..or..’‘bookends’ - as Emily would describe it.

Jenna sends a text and Emily hears Addison’s phone go off at the same time

Spencer tells her Veronica she won't be working with her anymore. I'm really disappointed with Spencer right now, Veronica does not deserve this treatment, I get that she is upset but to take it all out on Veronica instead of Peter is unfair. Veronica continues to tell her she loves her and has never felt they were not a family and Spencer is just cold. I really feel for Veronica, and find Spencer irritating and a little much right now. I usually love Spencer but she’s 23, not 13. This woman adopted you and raised you as her own, not telling you you’re the product of an affair her cheating husband had with a mentally ill woman sounds like the safer thing to do.

Spencer has the audacity to sound upset about the house being sold after she’s outright said Veronica isn’t her mother and after she’s been nothing but cold to Veronica since she found out Mary is her mom and she seems to want to forgive Mary but punish Veronica.

Arias dress is cute

Aria gets an article on Ezra reuniting with his fiance Nicole Gordon. The article talks about Nicole’s kidnapping and being held by guerrilla forces. They show pictures of Ezra and Nicole before and after the reunion. I am low key shipping Aria and Holden. I get the feeling that Ezra won’t be able to leave Nicole. He will tell Aria this in a way that makes him seem like some white knight to Nicole and how Aria would always feel guilty for Nicole not getting Ezra.. he will make it seem like he’s doing her the favor. He’s everyone’s white knight.

Mona seems to be working like crazy on this fashion business and Hanna is too busy waiting to eat with Caleb to even look at jewelry designers Mona is showing her right this minute? She asks Mona to forward them to her. Hanna this is your business, get yourself into it, Caleb can eat by himself, you can see him later. I don’t get this too busy for a career and relationship thing.

Catherine is going to BORROW shoes from Hanna? Why wouldn’t she buy a pair like them? Hanna is having these shoes fixed.It’s not like Hanna designed the shoe, it's just strange to me.

OMG Jenna walks in wearing Hanna’s dress but in white, and I must say it looks better in white, and great on Jenna

Mona flips out, more so than Hanna, who acts rather meekly, wtf where is crazy Hanna right now? Mona confronts Jenna with a..’Yo Jenna! ‘ Omg Mona is amazing

Jenna claims the dress was a gift, Jenna says she and her posse have an uber waiting and she tap taps the fuck out of there

Hanna says it’s all part of the game and Mona is left asking what game.

Mona is getting left behind again. I don’t want A to be Mona again because I feel Mona has gotten past that and is a strong and confident woman now.

Emily wants to get into the barn to see the Game to play it because she is convinced Addison is working for A.D

Emily reminds the audience A.D took a final exam for her

“I'm living proof, once you invite the devil in, horrid little seeds start to sprout” - Alison.OMG

Jenna and her posse meet at the cobbler place where Hanna’s shoes are Caleb wants to handle Jenna

Jenna smells Hanna on Caleb, and guesses it is Hanna behind her. Caleb questions why she is here, and where she got the dress. He even grabs her by the cane and threatens her. She reminds him only Noel could contradict the story she told the police and he’s dead.

Hanna gets locked in a caged off room at the cobbler's place, someone obviously closed that door, it didn’t swing randomly closed on its own, and someone shut off the lights.

lol @ #benchme lol Addison is taking bong hits with her boyfriend in a car behind the brew.

Aria the greatest liar convinces a nurse to let her in after visiting hours but telling her she's brought her good friend Nicole some salt water taffy.

317 is Nicole’s room number.

Holden stops Aria from going in to see/confront Nicole. He’s such a sweetheart and really mature!

The sander thing is going off, something swings from the ceiling tries to punch Hanna, she's having pure flashbacks of being tortured in the barn with that cattle prod. She gets a text from A.D and A.D really seems to hate Hanna, like a lot.

‘Wait your turn, Bitch, It’ll come. And you’ll be ready - A.D

A.D seems to hate Hanna more than anyone, Spencer gets clues about her mother, Aria just has Ezra drama and Emily gets help from A.D in dealing with Addison. Why the major Hanna hate? Spencer twin would hate Hanna for the Spaleb mess. HMM.

Caleb rescues Hanna

Emily confronts and threatens Addison with the bong video, Paige intervenes and tells Addison she's in trouble for gloating about getting rid of Emily in an email they found. Her parents and principal Hackett have been informed

‘Why? you gonna smack me? “- Addison.

“No I can’t do that, but somebody should have a long time ago”. - Emily

Aria asks Holden if she should give the ring back and Holden tells her not to expect Ezra to be on her timetable, if he needs time give it to him and that he’s probably more torn up than she is.

Emily is given another puzzle piece, still black and white, still scrawly lines and an abstract feel. Spencer theorizes it’s a map but I still think it could be a sonogram or a collage that includes a sonogram picture.

So that’s my live watch review..I’ll try to post some more thoughts later!

yeah. there are a lot of interesting elements to her character. mostly because i hmm why shes in the town. like corin is understandable because corin's anxiety is a bit more debilitating. whereas freya seems completely functional and yet somehow stuck

i think my favorite scene is less a scene is the one where freya busts into johann's place and just doesnt say anything. shows him the picture and hes like "well shit ive been found out."

Like the oven thing was funny, but weirdly drawn out compared to a lot of other jokes, and she also has that scene in the bathroom where she has this weird, disjointed cause-and-effect logic that because she left the soap out, it caused something totally unrelated and bad to happen. I've wondered if those things have some deeper meaning to her character or world lol

there tends to be a really strong "unreliable narrator" feeling in general-- beyond Corin's anxiety rewriting speech bubbles, Freya's narration is just snarky enough that I'm not quite sure exactly how biased she is in her representation of her town and etc

Particularly in the case of Corin, what do you foresee as potential conflicts he’ll have to face in regards to his anxiety, and do you think he’ll triumph over them?

ive been there. where no matter what people are actually telling you all you hear is how worthless you are. not fun times. and i thought that was really a lovely way to illustrate it. the sudden change in color schemes really sets the mood. and the messy handwriting for corin's added thoughts really i think emphasis the volitile nature of them

I made it home before 10pm. ^_^;; Just wanted to say, I didn't have much free time this week, and so I didn't get far into the narrative, but that's partly because after I read the bit at the start with the kid and the teacher I thought if I don't stop now and do some marking, I'll read too far and be even more behind at work.

my last thoughts are that i really like the patterns on all the clothing. its that little bit of extra detail that adds some character to the setting and people existing within it
