Baby's First Halloween
Mikey forces Draxum joining him and his family for trick and treating.
My @rottmnt-secret-gifting gift for @bambiraptorx :] Happy Halloween!! Don't judge the title, I am either very good with them or terrible with them TwT Sorry this is shorter than I planned, but I hope you still like it!!!! I saw that your fics featured Draxum a lot so I tried writing something that is both Halloween themed and from his pov, I hope he is in character and you enjoy it :> Also on AO3 <33
Baron Draxum had yet to understand humans. Yet to like them. But he had thought he had an idea of them (other than the fact they all were annoying). Spending months among them had given him a new chance to observe them better. At some aspects they were just like he expected them to be. In other aspects though, they proved to be more interesting than he thought they were. That wouldn’t happen often, but still was worth mentioning.
Nowadays he didn’t have a problem living among them, he had gotten used to them, and to their behavior. He knew the basics; he knew what to expect from their society.
Then Michelangelo showed up at his door with a costume in his hands and Draxum once again was lost.
“What the heck is a Halloween?” Draxum stared at the mutant.
“You don’t know Halloween!?” Mikey exclaimed. “It is okay, I can teach you everything!”
“I am not interested.” Draxum replied.
“Too late!” Mikey grinned as he walked in. Draxum knew he had no way to escape from the boy. He let Mikey get in with the costume he held. “So, Barry, Halloween is a human holiday- one of the best even- which I’m sure you’ll love!”
“I doubt that.” Draxum had learned about some. They were nothing like yokai holidays, and they made no sense at all. He was sure this would be no different.
Mikey sat on to the couch and placed the costume by his side. “Halloween happens during the night of 31st of October, and people celebrate it by trick and treating, watching horror movies, putting scary decorations everywhere…”
“Is that why I have been seeing bat and pumpkin replicas everywhere?” He asked rhetorically, interrupting the teen.
Mikey grinned, “Yep! People like to decorate and get into the Halloween spirit early! That’s what October’s about baby!”
Draxum gestured to the costume in front of him, “What’s with the costume?”
“Oh! I made it for you!” Mikey beamed. “The most important thing of Halloween is how you look. You gotta wear a costume if you are celebrating it. And you’ll terrific!”
He reached and held the costume in his hands. “You dress up ridiculously?” Draxum questioned, inspecting the costume with more detail now.
“Sometimes some people do, but majorly it is about looking scary.” Mikey explained.
Draxum eyed the costume again. He couldn’t see how these clothes were supposed to be scary. He didn’t mention that though.
“I mean, you don’t exactly have to wear a costume since this whole situation”- Mikey gestured to Draxum like whenever his family said that phase- “but, traditions are always better!”
Draxum suddenly realized what Mikey meant, “So that’s the thing all the yokai got excited about every October.”
“Huh?” Mikey blinked at him with confusion.
“Every year yokai get excited about going to surface and walking among humans freely for a night.” Draxum explained. “I never understood the excitement for a thing like that, and so I didn’t find it worth to check and lose the time I could prepare my plans.”
Mikey hummed, “Humans somehow can’t tell the difference between mutants and costumes most of the time, which is much better for us!”
“As I had said before several times, they aren’t smart.” Draxum commented.
“Don’t be rude, Barry!” He got up, “After all we’ll have some fun among them soon.”
Draxum looked at Mikey, and then at the costume. “I’d rather to pass the offer.”
Mikey shook his head, “No! Way!” He exclaimed. “You are joining us this Halloween!”
“You?” Draxum didn’t like how it sounded.
“Yep! Since you have never enjoyed this amazing holiday, why not join us?” Mikey said, hugging Draxum’s arm.
The mutant raised a brow, “I am not sure if your family would like that idea.”
“They won’t mind.” The boy chirped happily. Draxum wasn’t convinced but he didn’t try to fight against him.
And so Draxum was once again had found himself in a situation he never expected to be in, thanks to Michelangelo. He had no idea why, but the boy always found a way to make him join his ideas or do what he asked for. Maybe it was because of how it was almost impossible to escape Mikey’s persistence. (It was definitely not because he cared for the boys he had created. Not at all.)
He looked at the costume again and sighed, he was gonna hate it.
 He hated it.
Mikey had made him some sort of red imp like costume. Draxum had no idea how the boy had managed to get him wear it (maybe it was the fact behind his niceness he hid the scariest person known to a yokai). When the rest of boys and April had seen him, they burst into laughing. By the way they joked, he suspected that him they were very excited to see him like that for a long time. Leo made so many terrible jokes and teased him the whole time, more than others. So much that Draxum was sure even the others were tired of his puns. He also knew that Donnie and April had taken many pictures of him. All Draxum was glad nobody that knew his glorious days (other than the Hamatos) saw him like that.
Eventually they moved to trick or treating part. He still didn’t understand any of this. A part of him wished people would let them do their trick, so he could show what powers he got and scare all of them. (He was sure that was the meaning of trick.) Just like the old days. Shame it wasn’t “safe or legal”. Humans seemed to be afraid of him even in this ridiculous costume, so that was somewhat better.
As the night kept going on, Draxum noticed the many yokai walking among the streets. Some having fun, drinking and enjoying the night in a different way, some spending time by trying out or checking out normal human things and technologies. They all seemed very happy. Both humans and yokai… odd. Then he looked back at the boys. They seemed very happy too. Even Leonardo was not caring that Draxum tagged along (by Mikey’s force). It was different than any other night. One night free for all to walk among each other peacefully.
 Maybe Halloween wasn’t that bad.
After a time, they finally returned to the lair, where Splinter laughed so much that he ended having cramps and a coughing fit. Draxum had retorted pointing out how stupid his costume looked, but Splinter paid no mind telling him how amazing it looked on him and that Draxum had no taste at all. Draxum disagreed, not understanding at all how the stupid fake teeth and cape looked amazing on him.
Then as the teens examined the candies they collected (which was surprisingly a lot); Splinter began searching for something. He victoriously announced, “I found it!”
“What is it, rat?” Draxum asked, more to kill time than being curious.
“Lou Jitsu’s special edition horror movie marathons.” Splinter explained proudly.
Draxum looked at the small box Splinter held. “I thought you were an action movie star?”
Splinter stared at him, “You are so uncultured…. Thankfully tonight you will see some real good stuff.”
Draxum rolled his eyes, “How even your movies considered good?”
Draxum wouldn’t admit, but they were good. Not only Splinter’s old horror movies which were more of a comedy in Draxum’s opinion, but the other movies too. The most recent ones were mostly accurate about gore details too. When Draxum mentioned that it, Donnie gladly agreed pointing out some inaccuracies. As the two agreed, the rest of them were trying shushing them so they could watch the rest of the movie properly. Draxum heard how Leonardo whined, “There are two of them now”. Draxum ignored that comment, only thinking about how it meant that Donnie was good at catching details and had knowledge over that. Even though some parts made him uncomfortable, the boy had knowledge.
At some point Raph fell asleep. Mikey, who was hiding under a blanket next to him trembled. Leo kept his hand on the blanket, watching the movie playing with candy bag in his lap. Donnie sat on the ground with his own candy bag, occasionally commending about the movie and whispering to April, who sat next to him some things about the movie. Splinter eventually fell asleep as well.
Draxum found it interesting. How they didn’t mind him around. How this wasn’t as bad as he thought it would be (minus the costume). How it was tolerable to watch the teens joke around, scaring each other at times under the projector’s light.
Hours passed, as the movie marathon continued one by one, they fell asleep. Draxum could stay awake longer if he wanted, but he let himself rest as well, as the rest of them slept deeply.
At some point he heard someone getting on his feet, he felt a blanket on himself. Once he looked, he saw Splinter with another blanket, heading towards Leonardo. He had brought blankets and pillows for them all. Draxum didn’t understand why he would do that. (At least why would he bring him one. That didn’t make any sense.)
Then Splinter saw him, “Go back sleeping before you wake them up Draxum,” he whispered. “It is three in the morning.”
Draxum was going to say something, but he found himself not responding. Splinter was right, he could wake them up. So, he decided to not to say a word, and do as he told him to do. Meanwhile, Splinter went back to his spot, with a blanket and a pillow going back to sleep as well.
As he fell asleep, Draxum thought. Maybe this was why it wasn’t that bad. Because even though he was forced to join them, they still included him. Because they showed him what Halloween was. And while Draxum would never say that to them, maybe it was great to spend time with this family, more than he ever thought it would be. After everything, perhaps this was a nice change…

Summary: Darius doesn't like f/Reader's future husband, & for good reason. Him & her get into a fight the night before the wedding & Darius ends the friendship. F/Reader should have listened to him.
DARIUS MARTIN'S POV
"WHY WON'T YOU LISTEN TO ME!?"
I hated raising my voice to her, but I needed her listen to me, just this once.
"I am Darius," YN said calmly. She wasn't one to yell. Wasn't one for confrontation, but she is holding her ground against me on this.
"But I need you to talk to me like an adult and not some child. I will not be yelled at."
I ran my hands over my face in frustration, but I closed my eyes and took a few deep breaths, knowing that YN was right.
"Now, what makes you think I shouldn't marry Barry?"
"YN, I am telling you this because you are my best friend, but he isn't a good guy. He hasn't stopped going to the strippers  even though he told you he did."
Tumblr media
"I don't believe you."
"YN, I saw him with my own two eyes when we were in New York."
"He told me he was seeing a couple of friends. He even sent me photos from him at a club. Barry wasn't lying to me."
"YN, he isn't a good guy. He has cheated on you multiple times."
"And we always work past them. He let's me look through his phone to make sure. He tells me where he is going. He has changed for me. Why can't you see that?"
I was getting frustrated with her, so I turned around and screamed into the air.
"Why can't you see that he is a horrible piece of shit?"
"Darius Martin, how dare you! That is the man I am going to marry, tomorrow. Mind you."
"Call off the wedding. Ask him about his other phone." Silence.
"He doesn't have another phone, Darius."
"YN, you need to believe me on this. Please. He has another phone. I saw it that night."
"At the strippers?" She had air qoutes with the word strippers. "Yes, there. You know I was there with some friends, but when I saw Barry, I went to confront him, knowing he was supposed to stop going to the strippers and spending so much money."
"Why are you lying to me, Darius?" I could tell by her tone of voice. She was getting very angry with me.
I knew right then and there that she wasn't going to believe me. That she was going to be a fool and marry the man who probably has a baby or two out there.
"You know what? Forget it." I took a step back and held up my hands in defeat.
"You marry that piece of shit, but do not come crying to me when you finally wake up and see that I was right. That he is a no-good lying asshole. Who bragged that night to his friends that he has two phones and two bank accounts and has been. I am done."
"Darius, don't say that," YN tried to touch my arm, but I just pulled it away.
"I am done seeing you cry over him. Listening to you say that you will never go back to him, but he gives you a gift and says something sweet and you are right back with him."
I grabbed my coat and phone, trying to ignore her cries of my name. I slammed her front door closed, and my heart broke, listening to the sound her crying.
But I can't stand by anymore. This best thing for me to do is walk away.
Tumblr media
YN'S POV:
My mind kept playing what happened between Darius and I last night. I didn't want to believe him, even though deep down inside, I knew he was right.
I knew Barry had another phone. I found it while I was doing laundry, but I just put it back where I found it as it was password protected.
I shouldn't have said yes when Barry asked me to marry him, but I was hoping he would change, but it seems like he hasn't.
But my friendship with Darius ending hurt me more than anything. Even as I stood waiting for the wedding march to start.
Even more when I was handed a note by Barry's best man.
'I can't do this.'
I cried, of course. Being stood up the day of your wedding is embarrassing. People were screaming and yelling.
A fight broke out between my Dad and Barry's Dad, I had to get away. I had to get away from everyone looking at me like I just lost out on the greatest man to ever walk the earth.
But I did last night when my best friend walked out on me. I quickly changed out of this suffocating wedding dress and made my way to Darius Hotel room, hoping he hasn't left town yet.
~
Two knocks, and he opened the door, probably expecting room service.
"YN." His look of surprise at seeing me standing there when he knows I should be saying my vows at this point probably had him confused.
"He stood me up." I finally said it. I haven't said it since I was handed the note less two hours ago. Darius stepped aside and let me into his hotel.
"Oh, sweetheart." Darius opened his arms, and I snuggled into his chest and finally cried.
Cried at the time I have wasted on Barry. Cried at the lies, I told to keep myself happy. Cried at all the money I spent on this wedding when all I wanted was a small one, but no, Barry wanted a massive wedding.
"Shh, it's okay." Darius was rubbing my back, trying to soothe me. I pulled away from him just a bit, shaking my head.
"No, it isn't. I should have listened to you. You were right. I knew about it all. The strippers, the bank accounts, the extra phone. I just kept lying to myself. I am sorry for not believing you."
Darius wiped away my tears and had me look into his eyes.
"And the worst of all? I almost lost you because of him." I closed my eyes at the thought that has haunted me ever since Darius left my house last night.
"I was a fool, Darius." I finally said.
"No, he is a fool. He took you for granted, knowing what a kind, sweet woman you are."
"I can't lose you, Darius. Not now, not ever."
He pulled into his chest once more and kissed the top of my head.
"I am not going anywhere, YN."

There's a belief that classics are unquestionable when it comes to criticism of their content, but time pass, society and culture change -- sometimes they evolve -- and this is why it is always fair to criticize a book with new perspectives.
I haven't read Coraline, so I won't argue in its favor or against it. All I know is that Coraline is already treated as some kind of horror story, but Peter Pan is treated as a magical wholesome tale when it is not. My focus will be "Peter Pan and Wendy".
Perhaps, the main reason why J. M. Barrie's book is worthy of criticism it's because of narrative framing. Narrative framing is the perspective one gives to a fact, for example:
The underdog team wins the soccer tournament. It's a happy ending if you're looking from the underdogs' POV, but if we told the story from the other team's POV -- a team who has trained for longer, spent bigger money, and had way greater pressure to succeed, maybe this win wouldn't look as joyful or fair.
Children's books can and should contain some darker themes, but it is the way these themes are framed or portrayed that changes everything.
I have seen fantastic books touching upon subjects such as rape, abuse, violence, that are dealt extreme care. JM Barrie had no care whatsoever about anything he presented.
One could argue that's because the book is old -- but I've seen older books more sensible and way more intelligent in their development of dark themes, so the "time period" excuse doesn't hold that well. Then again, I've heard this wasn't supposed to be a kids' book, which is super confusing and a bit ridiculous, but if it wasn't for kids then it's still disturbing for the way it was written.
Now, why is it disturbing?
A problematic protagonist who is treated as a hero and a good person by the narrative, who never learns anything, who never gets his faults even questioned, and sold as a grand example. Not only that, but it is true, and clearly said that Peter kills the kids who 'dare' to grow up. Not a way of saying he expells them, he kills them. In the literal meaning of the word. He doesn't allow the other children to be smarter than him or talk about 'mothers' because he doesn't like it. So fuck everyone else, this is his dictatorship. Peter lets them starve sometimes when he feels like he doesn't want to eat real food, just make-believe food, and no child must dare to question his sound logic and wishes. At no point the narrator -- who seems to love this boy -- gives the reader a solid reason to like him. He just isn't likable, and it is fine to have an unlikeable protagonist, but the book treats him as if he should be loved and cherished. Which is very hard if you're paying attention to what's being presented.
Appalling racism and misogyny. We have natives bowing and treating a white ass jerk boy as their king and hero, and respecting him almost as a god. The narrative also simplifies their existence and cleverness, making them almost ridiculous at times. Wendy is there to be a "mom" and that's it. We have Wendy's lineage becoming Peter's eternal housewives after being ridiculed, ignored, and forgotten by the same little jerk. For no reason, they keep coming back at him and obeying his silliness.
Violence, murder, and children constantly murdering people. All of this treated by the narrator as "an adventure", something cool, something great, and beyond silly dumb things like "going to school". We have an actual MASSACRE SCENE. Where a minority group is wiped out and no one, not a character, barely the narrator, bats an eye at this, and it's all made to be like a fantastic event. Kids constantly talk about how they kill pirates and it doesn't affect them in the slightest. Because, again, this is shown as something awesome and adventurous to do. Every single of their adventures narrated by the book had someone being killed or almost dying. We have the narrator stopping the book to take the reader to see how Hook coldly kills his crew, for no reason, and treats it as "it is what it is".
I have highlighted numerous horrid passages that I'll leave under the readmore so everyone can see I'm not lying about the awfulness of this story's portrayal.
Disney and the 2003's movie had done a FANTASTIC job adapting the horridness of this story. Still, they carry a lot of its faults, but the portrayal is so much more sensible and responsible that I can't help but congratulate them.
So, if you know all of this and still can't see why it isn't appropriate for children, you're just being biased by your attachment to the character/story, or you're being dishonest.
Awful passages ahead with "spoilers" (?)
"Peter never quite knew what twins were, and his band were not allowed to know anything he did not know, so these two were always vague about themselves, and did their best to give satisfaction by keeping close together in an apologetic sort of way."
"All wanted blood except the boys, who liked it as a rule, but to-night were out to greet their captain. The boys on the island vary, of course, in numbers, according as they get killed and so on; and when they seem to be growing up, which is against the rules, Peter thins them out;"

Hal and Carol to me is one of those relationships I feel like no one would care if they let it go. They're not Lois and Clark, Dinah and Ollie, or Barry and Iris. No one is so attached to the on again off again. To me it's like Bruce and Selina people are like oh but it's been eight four years <- literally. And yeah maybe if after 84 years you haven't figured out a plausible way for two people to be together you just let it go.
Hal and Carol never worked as a couple because from my pov they weren't supposed to. Hal was both staunchly anti marriage but also stuck on the idea of marriage with Carol because the writers could not figure out how to have him be both a cool single tomcat kind of guy and also their obsession with picket fence being the only method of happiness when we Know that's not Hal's idea of a happy ending.
Anyways sorry for the rambling ask lmao
omfg i answered this weeks ago but forgot to publish 😭
no ur absolutely right can we Please move on from them. at least until they (DC writers) can come up with something Interesting or New to say about their relationship.
it would be help if they gave carol more agency or dimension as a character. unlike all the other relationships you mentioned carol really only exists for hal to angst over. (lois and iris suffer from this too but nowhere near as bad) give her a backup or something. or have hal actually spend time with her 😭
and it's so weird when they try to make hal OR CAROL into people whose #1 ambition is a traditional marriage with kids. like be fr

Jealousy: Barry Allen
Tumblr media
UNEDITED
Barry' POV:
"You are jealous!" Caitlin said following me around the lab. And I repeated ignore and denied it. "You are too! You are jealous of (Y/N)'s partner! It's just like the first time, you saw Iris and that one guy what was his name again?" She said putting her chin in between her pointer and thumb, in thought.
"His name was Eddie Thawne. And I'm not jealous of her partner. And I'm NOT jealous, end of story." She said putting her hands up in defense. "Okay!" She said with a bit of a laugh, as I began to walk away. "BUT, if you want my advice," "Caitlin." "I think you should just tell her." I sighed and began to tell what I told her a million times before, I'm not going to tell her. She sighed and left me alone.
As I was over to the monitors, Cisco walks in with Big Belly Burger. I grabbed my food and sat it on a table. "Hey, Cait." Cisco began to whisper into Cailtins ear. "Is he still jealous, you-know-who?" I turned around immediately. "Come on, really?" I said, walking over to them.
"Really, Cisco?" I said, getting a little agitated. "Oh come on, we wouldn't have been doing this for as long we have if you don't-" "CISCO!" Caitlin said hitting him upside the head. "You've been trying to get me to tell (Y/N)-"
"Tell me what?" She said walking into the room, with food of her own. "Nothing." I said, glaring at Cisco and Caitlin, before walking out of the lab.
(Y/N)' POV:
"Whaaat, just happened?" I asked putting my food down gently, not to spill it. They just looked at each other, then at me, then anywhere else, but my eyes. "Guys? What's with Barry?" I said, genuinely concerned. "I have something to do in the lab." Cisco said about to walk out, but I stopped him. "We're already in the lab, Cisco."
He fake laughed, and coughed a bit. "I meant the other other lab.." I looked at him skeptically. He begins to walk backwards slowly. "GOTTA GO BYE!" He said running out, before him coming back in to grab his food, then proceeds to run out.
"What is going on, around here Caitlin?" I said turning towards her. "Look, (Y/N). I care about you, you know that, right?" I nodded, folding my arms. "But I can't tell you. I would, but Barry doesn't want us too. Not even Joe or Iris." I scoffed and backed away.
I was inching closer to her. She looked down, probably feeling guilty. "(Y/N). You know, I want to tell you, but I just can't!" She said, standing her ground. I took a step back. "You're supposed to be my best friend. You're supposed to tell me, if anything is wrong my boyfriend!" "I want too! Believe me! But it's hard when two of your best friends, are telling you two different things, and you have to pick who to listen to! And I'm not going to do that! From now on, I'm not
I didn't want, my powers to take over, so I just stepped back and thought of happy things. I started to calm down, and I looked up at Caitlin and apologized so many times, before grabbing my stuff and walking out of there. I saw Cisco leaning up against the walls, most likely he heard everything. I didn't care and walked past him.
Barry' POV:
I walked out, with my hands in my pockets, whilst Caitlin comes up to me. "You tell me to keep another one of your secrets, I will not hold Frost back. You know how hard it was to not tell anyone anything, my BEST FRIEND for crying out loud." I just stood there and remained silent. "Never again, Bartholomew. You hear me?" She said looking at me dead in the eyes. Cisco then walks into the room. "Hey, look! I know, we're like all not on the best terms, as of right now. But I have a coupon for Big Belly Burger, and I was wondering.." Frost begins to show. "Okay, damn! I get it! I'll ask someone else." He said walking into another room.
"Tell her. Or I will." She said walking out the room as well. And I'm left stand there. I then decide to call, (Y/N).
~Time Skip~
(Y/N)' POV:
I hear a knock on the door, and I open it. "Hi, Bar." I said, allowing him to come in. "Look, I want to tell you something. And I'm not going to make this any longer then it needs to be." He said and I nodded sitting on my couch. "I'm jealous. I'm jealous, of how much time you spend with him. And I know, I shouldn't be thinking like that, but when you have a girlfriend as pretty as you I just-" I grab him by his shoulders, and give him a shake. "Barry, relax!"
"It's fine! It's normal to be jealous!" I said, as he sat down next to me. "And besides he's moving away anyway, one of his relatives is sick, and he wants to be there for them." I said, putting a hand on his cheek. "And I get jealous too, Bar. You aren't the only one."
He looks at me skeptically. "Since when did you get jealous?" I turned my head. "Not telling!" I said, giving Barry a hard time. He rolled his eyes, with a small laugh, knowing how stubborn you and will just wait for you to tell him on your own.
He wraps an arm around my shoulder. "I love you and I'll try not to get jealous and overprotective of you." I snuggled into him. "Good. Because I have a guy coming over-" "You, what?!" He said, and I just laughed, and he just sat there concerned.
'Oh, you have no idea, how much I love you Bartholomew Henry Allen.'

for morgan and barry or morgan and eobard or really anyone lol “ you’re gonna have to make me. ”, “ go! get out of here! run! ”, and/or “ you’ve never had to fight me. ” :)
oooh loving these requests! These prompt fills are fairly short individually, but they're still under the cut since the post overall is fairly long:
“You're gonna have to make me.” [Morgan & Eowells]
“Leave him alone!” Morgan’s heartbeat pounded in her chest—out of all the metas she’d ever faced, Eobard Thawne terrified her the most. “You’ve already done enough harm!” “Oh, how you misjudge me, Starlight,” he cooed. “I don’t intend to harm anyone. Least of all you.” “I don’t believe you.” He sighed. “Still listening to Barry, I see.” “Yeah.” She scowled. “Your pathetic attempt to turn me against him didn’t really work out like you hoped, huh?” “Such an imagination,” he murmured. “I wonder just what you’ve told them about me?” “Only the truth.” And not even all of it, really. Mostly because talking about all of it was way too daunting to consider. “Hmm.” “So I’ll say it again. Sentry’s supposed to protect metahumans…so here I am. Protecting them. Leave them alone.” He sighed. “Well, if you’re so insistent…” he raised his cowl, smirking as his eyes glowed red, “you’re gonna have to make me.”
“Go! Get out of here! Run!” [Barry & Morgan, Barry POV]
“Morgan, go!” Barry urged—pleaded, really. “Get out of here, run!” He couldn’t see her hurt again. He couldn’t—the sight had nearly killed him last time. His words from the Bivolo incident came back to him, how the anger had twisted all his fear and concern and turned it into hatred, into You hypocrite! (He wasn’t sure he’d ever forgive himself for that, no matter how much Morgan insisted that she’d forgiven him.) “No, not without you!” Morgan cried, but she was wavering—her forcefield would give out soon, and Thawne would be upon them, and then… And then… “You’ll die if you stay here, Morgan, please!” Please do as I ask you, please let me protect you this one time— “Look out!” The forcefield had collapsed, and now Morgan knocked him over, shielding him with her body and fighting clear exhaustion. He wished she would run. But part of him was also worried that if Thawne caught sight of her… No. No, head in the game, Allen. Focus. “There’s nowhere for me to go,” Morgan whispered shakily. “Stay behind me, then. Promise me.” Morgan looked ready to argue, but the sight of Thawne had her nodding quickly. Barry had plenty of reasons to kill Thawne already. But this? This was the icing on the cake. He wouldn’t let Thawne hurt her or anyone else ever again…and if it meant putting him six feet under, then he’d do it gladly. It was the least Thawne deserved.
“You've never had to fight me.” [Barry & Morgan, btwn 1x7 and 1x8]
“You’ve never had to fight me.” Morgan grinned. “Bet I could.” “Bet you couldn’t,” Barry retorted, grinning back. “Barry,” Caitlin warned. Cisco laughed. “Come on, Caitlin, it’s Barry. You know Morgan’s winning any match-up they have, any day of the week.” “Not always, in a spar,” Barry pointed out. “Because even a loss is—” “A teachable moment, yes, I know.” Morgan sighed dramatically. “You’re awfully good at finding those despite also being a novice, Bartholomew.” “Hey!” The three of them laughed at Barry’s mock-offense…and of course, being who he was, he quickly joined in. (The joke didn’t feel quite so funny a week later, when December rolled around.)

I really, really hate Bart being Kid Flash.
From a character motivation standpoint, I do get it. He’s the grandson of the Flash, that alone is a big looming legacy. And then there’s Wally, who was already a respected teen speedster and now he is the Flash and Bart compares himself to him.
It doesn’t help that everybody in-universe looks at him and just sees an unreliable comic relief. (On which I could write a whole standalone rant because the amount of times Bart has saved everybody’s hides is too damn high for that level of disrespect, damn it.)
So, from his POV, it makes sense. He got shot by Joey-inside-Slade’s-body (...that sounds so much more wrong than it actually was and it was already very wrong) and spend one and a half years in total isolation entirely focused on learning and improving himself, becoming better. And, to him, Kid Flash - Wally’s legacy - is an improvement, is “better” than Impulse. Because Impulse is the class clown nobody takes seriously.
But gosh darn it I hate everything about that.
The fact that everyone’s perception of him influences him that much, that nobody can see him for the hero he actually is, that he has to prove himself over and over again. That he doesn’t seem to find enough value in being himself, so he changes. It’s not just the different name, it’s Wally’s old costume, heck, Wally’s damn hair cut - Bart’s wild floof of a mane is absolutely iconic and as Kid Flash, his hair is so much shorter and... tamer.
Look, I have a general issue with how mindnumbingly boring and unoriginal it is for the legacy characters to just wear hand-me-downs, both as costumes and as names, or worse yet to share names at the same time (giving current-time Tim the stink-eye here for going back to Robin for fuck knows what reason).
Kon and Cassie at least got creative with the costumes, if not with the name. Tim... let’s not talk about the Robins. But Bart! Precious Bart, with his own costume and his own name!! That was honestly the first thing that endeared me to him, before I even properly met him. Saw that floofy mane and individual character-design and especially for a speedster, now that’s a breath of fresh air (I still have to check wikis to see whether Barry or Wally is behind that Flash mask if I encounter a random Flash in a comic...).
I liked that. I liked that a lot. And I especially loved how well picked his name is. Sure, many in-universe look at it as him... not thinking. But it’s more that he follows his gut, reacts on impulse. And I think that’s okay, because he’s a speedster, of course is he quick on his feet and more bound to action.
I just... I really hope that Bart gets to appreciate himself for who he is? Because on its own, I did appreciate that plotline. It made a whole lotta sense that at one point, the way others treat and perceive him would affect him and the whole getting shot and getting a prosthetic under what must have been torturous pain is a very, very good reason to spiral in that manner.
It’s just the way I’m like five volumes farther now and he’s still Kid Flash and we haven’t really focused on his internal process, or had any of his friends... I don’t know... check in with him about all this, because it’s just super obvious what’s happening here and Cassie, Kon or Tim could really catch on too at some point?
(But then I suppose that Young Justice: Dark Crisis did nail one part. It’s the way Cassie, Kon and Tim are very caught up in themselves and their other friendships and treat Bart more as their sidekick as opposed to their equal teammate and friend, both in Young Justice Vol 1 and, so far, in Teen Titans Vol 3...)

2023 Book Reviews: Historical Romance, Part 1
1. Never Judge a Lady by Her Cover by Sarah MacLean: 4/5
Pitch: 4th & final book in a historical romance series; woman who is a noblewoman by day and by night she's the founder of a gambling hell falls in love with a newspaperman
Review: This was a fun, fast-paced romance. For whatever reason, I tend not to remember this series of MacLean's very well, and I expect this one to follow the same trend - I doubt I'll remember what happened in this one in a while. A good time, but there's definitely a spark missing.
2. Tommy Cabot Was Here by Cat Sebastian: 4.25/5
Pitch: mlm 1950s romance between a scion of a politically powerful family and his childhood best friend
Review: Very cute - I really liked Everett and Tommy! But as always it's the rare novella that I can love as much as I love a novel, so while it's cute I doubt it'll stick with me a long time.
3. Peter Cabot Gets Lost by Cat Sebastian: 4.5/5
Pitch: 2nd book; mlm 1950s romance between a scion of a politically powerful family and his rival from school on a road trip together
Review: I started out not as into Peter and Caleb, but over time they grew on me, just as they grew on each other! A fun road trip book, and I quite liked the resolution.
4. Something Fabulous by Alexis Hall: 3/5
Pitch: mlm Regency romance between a duke and a the brother of the woman he's supposed to marry
Review: I liked a lot about this book - in particular, Valentine, but also Peggy, the ridiculous adventures, Valentine's mom, the lesbians they run into, the humor, etc. What I really didn't like was Arabella, and that ended up spilling over into Bonny over time. I'm not sure if the prologue from her POV is supposed to make you like her, because for me it really didn't. Unless I missed it, there was never any reason that Arabella couldn't have just said no, I refuse to marry you. It never describes her uncle and aunt forcing her into the marriage, and she doesn't seem to have any sense of duty for the estate, its people, or her family, so it's not like the money was forcing her into it either. So instead of being reasonable and rejecting his suit, she decided to go on the run like the romantic heroine she dreamt of being. It made me really, really dislike her, and then all of the subsequent escapades just cemented that. And Bonny just let her do it - I get why he's on her side in theory, but in practice it just meant that he was enabling her and allowing her to behave pretty abominably. And then he puts a lot of pressure on Valentine. It's very reasonable for him to draw the line that he won't be with someone who he can't be with completely, but I really don't like that it feels like Valentine was the one making every compromise. So ultimately I have kind of mixed feelings about the romance and the book, but your mileage may vary!
5. Earth Bound by Emma Barry & Genevieve Turner: 4.75/5
Pitch: 1950s historical romance between a woman computer for NASA and the man in charge of making sure the astronaut program is a success
Review: I really enjoyed this - excellent historical romance, I'll definitely be picking up the other books in the series! The romance was great, and I really loved the historical background.

im thinking abt zero constructs again and i think its tough to really communicate the Vibe i want it to have but also i maybe never talked about it super in depth?
but anyway as a thesis statement it's mostly about how much faith you put into the evidence of your senses, and also the intrinsic gulf of understanding between all people. there's a fundamental youness to every person that never quite gets communicated through interactions. and then imagine the youness was erased from reality entirely, and then something else came in, a blank slate, unmolded clay, and tried to reconstruct the you out of the them; out of what everyone else thinks that person was like.
say the slate can perceive those thoughts and those preconceptions perfectly. could they be a perfect you even just from an external pov? how many people could they convince that they were the one they were replacing? because they can perfectly mimic what the other expects them to be like—but that's regardless of whether or not that perception is correct. they have no idea if that conversation partner misperceives them, is overlaying their own biases or malformed beliefs onto the personal idea of them.
so that's dusk and helic. continually-updating copies of deleted people, trying to convince society at large that they haven't changed at all.
meanwhile they're cooking in these bad templates, all these people who half-know them or don't know them at all, immediately judging them based on a scarce glance. meanwhile that snap judgement becomes a part of them because they're such well-polished prisms, they're made to be mirrors.
and then barry and emmet show up, and after months-to-years of these bad copies, they're faced with the two people who know their original basis better than anyone in all the world. and oh god, oh fuck, they had it all wrong. they've got to scramble in the milliseconds they're given to try and throw up a better front; how was dusk supposed to guess how much dawn liked touch, that it would be immediately and distressingly wrong for her to not tackle-hug her friend after so much time apart? how was helic supposed to intuit that it wasn't just a resting face, ingo never really smiled, but his subtle-shift version of a 'smile' was immediately recognizable to his loved ones anyway? they didn't know, they were perfect mirrors but they didn't ever really know—
...on the other end of this, though. the b-side and the first thesis. you thought you lost the most important person in the world and now they're standing in front of you again, and you, right now, gun to your head, say that they're not real. it's not even a matter of wanting, this isn't about pretending to themselves because they want it to be true. it's just that—it's been a while, they've gone through so much, and so much more importantly, what if you're wrong? are you willing to gamble on the chance that you've just told the real them you've changed so much that i don't even recognize you as yourself anymore?
but more generally "i think they've been replaced by a construct" is a completely bonkers thing to say about someone unprompted. if we're talking snap judgements then humans really prefer it when things go how they expect. it makes way more sense for the thing that walks like dawn and talks like dawn to actually be dawn, ditto with ingo. so then the question becomes, once they get cozy with that assumption, how much doubt does it take to make that mental jump? how high do you need to stack the differences before it tips?
on both sides it's about believing one thing, without even really having to think about it because duh, of course, and then the slow realization creeps up on you from behind, that the entire time, you've been horribly wrong.

So, it's be a while since I last did one of these. Six Sentence Sunday!!
I've been working on my next fic in the Eobard vs Eobard series and reached the scene where Eobard and Barry finally meet. Initially I'd been thinking meet cute type deal, but it worked out better to have Eobard get so caught up thinking 'oh gosh he's so pretty' that he inhales wrong and chokes. Because he's a bit of a disaster gay in this incarnation.
“Great first impression,” Eobard muttered under his breath. “He must think I’m an idiot.”
“Everyone inhales wrong sometimes. I mean, humans do anyway. AI who breathe probably never do it wrong. Isn’t that supposed to be, like… an automatic system for you organics anyway?” Gideon paused. “Wait, how do you manage to screw up breathing anyway?”
“Gideon,” Eobard hissed into his ‘phone’, “I swear to god, if I could smack you in the face with a pillow right now…”
Gideon gave Eobard a holographic phone for now, which is how he's talking to her in public without looking like he's just casually chatting with an imaginary friend. I really enjoy their dynamic in this verse - chaos siblings at their finest. (This is quite likely not the first time Eobard's had a coughing fit and Gideon's response is to troll him about it afterwards when she knows he's fine.)
Though it's actually right after this bit where Eobard does something he immediately realizes was stupid and is very lucky didn't backfire. I may have to write an alternate version of this scene from Barry's PoV because the whole thing is pretty amusing to me, but perhaps a touch alarming for Barry.

Chapter Two: Chicken Fried
Clark allowed Conner to lead him to the train ride. It was the first ride Conner had ever been on, and he would ride it every year since he was two years old. It was his favorite. "Clark? Are you sure it's okay that I didn't do my chores before we left?" Conner questioned.
Clark nodded. "Don't worry. I took care of everything when I got in," Clark reassured him. A redheaded man got on the train across from them, holding his son's hand.
"Hi, Bart," Conner waved.
Bart's eyes widened, and he waved. "How do you know my name?" Bart asked.
Conner knit his brows together. "You told me your name last night. I'm Conner, remember?" Conner questioned. Bart shook his head and turned his face upward toward the sky. He seemed different, but Conner assumed he was more comfortable in the daylight.
"I like your shoes, Conner," Bart complimented as he knocked his heels together until his shoes lit up.
Clark leaned forward and introduced himself to the redheaded man. "Hi, I'm Clark Kent... Looks like our sons know each other," Clark grinned.
"Don Allen... Actually... I think you know my father," Don smiled, "Barry Allen."
"Oh yeah! I do know your father. How is he?" Clark asked.
"He's doing alright. We're staying with him for a few weeks this summer," Don replied. Conner and Bart swung their feet until they touched their shoes together. "Hey, why're you wearing a mask?" Conner asked. Bart looked at him briefly and then at Don.
"I got out of the hospital the other day. If I wear the mask, I won't get sick again," Bart answered.
"Oh, okay. I'm glad you're not sick anymore," Conner replied.
"What do we say, Bartholomew?" Don whispered.
"Oh! Thank you, Conner," Bart replied, "Daddy? How come I have to say thank you when people say things they're supposed to say?"
"Because it's polite. Being polite to people is important because it makes them feel good," Don replied.
"Wouldya feel bad if I didn't tell you thanks?" Bart asked Conner. Conner knit his brows together as he pondered Bart's question.
"Don't reckon I would've noticed... But it did make me feel good to hear you say thanks," Conner smiled. Clark chuckled, and Don did too.
Don and Clark continued their conversation while Conner and Bart talked to one another. When the ride stopped, Clark and Don exchanged numbers. "Where to next?" Clark asked.
"The little Ferris wheel?" Conner replied. Bart grabbed Conner's other hand.
"We'll all go," Don replied, looking at Clark for clarification. Clark nodded. From that moment on, the boys were inseparable. They spent four hours at the fair together before Don's watch went off. "Time to go, Bart."
"I don't wanna go," Bart whined. Don picked him up.
"We've gotta go eat with Grandpa, remember?" Don whispered. Bart nodded. "Thank you for not crying. We can always call Conner's dad and play with him later."
"Okay," Bart mumbled. He waved at Conner and Clark, and then they were gone. Soon after, Clark got a ping on his cellphone.
"Is that Lois?" Conner questioned. Clark nodded as he answered the phone.
"We're by the concessions... You want some funnel cake while we're over here?" Clark questioned.
Conner tugged Clark's sleeve. "Sorry... Could I get something for lunch?" Conner asked. Clark nodded.
"Where do you wanna eat, Conner?" Clark questioned.
"Across the street... I want a strawberry muffin and boneless wings," Conner whispered.
"Lois, let's go across the street and get lunch. Conner wants wings," Clark replied, "Yeah, I think that'll be easier. Love you too... Bye-bye."
Clark took Conner through the crowd and picked Conner up before crossing the street. Conner rested his chin on Clark's shoulder and whispered, "I can see Lois from up here."
"Yeah? Where is she?" Clark asked. He rubbed Conner's back. It comforted Clark to have his son close, and Conner leaned into the display of affection.
"She can see us too," Conner replied.
"What's going on, Scout?" Lois questioned.
"Did you get enough sleep?" Conner asked. Lois smiled and messed up his hair.
"I sure did," Lois replied. They entered the restaurant, and a waitress brought a complimentary basket of muffins and three glasses of water. Conner took a bite of a muffin and a sip of his water.
Meals were quiet when Martha and Jonathan weren't around to buffer. "Conner made a friend at the fair," Clark announced.
"His name's Bart," Conner replied, "He's six years old... And he has to wear a mask because he got out of the hospital."
"Oh," Lois whispered, "Is he from Smallville?"
"I don't think so... Clark knew his Grandpa," Conner explained, "How do you know his grandpa, Clark?"
"We're in the same club. Barry's a good friend of mine," Clark answered. The waitress brought them some sweet tea and their meal. Lois whispered something to Clark, and he shook his head. "Not right now."
"What's not right now?" Conner questioned in between bites. Clark chewed his lip.
"We have a surprise for you later on," Lois replied.
Conner sucked the sauce off his fingers. "Okay... Do Ma and Pa get a surprise too?" Conner asked. Clark nodded.
"Ma and Pa always get a surprise when we visit," Clark replied. Conner ate his french fries, and Clark put a straw in his chocolate milk and gave Conner a sip.
Conner was too old to need help with his drink, but he didn't mind Clark's effort. Clark ate with a fork and knife while Lois ate her wings with her hands, not caring if she got sauce on her face. Clark laughed, and Conner wiped her face with a napkin. "Oh, thank you, honey pie... You're so sweet," Lois smiled. Conner blushed.
"Thank you, Lois," Conner whispered. Once Clark paid for the food, Lois and Clark took Conner to an antique shop as promised. Conner went straight toward the jewelry to look for a ring to wear around his neck. Clark gave him the first one when he returned home. It was a small mood ring Clark found at the airport. Clark was still traumatized and fragile after his discharge from the hospital. He gave it to Conner, tying a string around it as a reminder of his love. He was shocked that Conner gave it away, but Clark knew Conner was too young to understand what things like that meant.
Conner stood on his toes to look into the glass case, and Clark picked him up. "Lookit, we can all get the same one," Conner whispered as he pointed to a little box on top of the glass case. A young man approached the counter. He asked if they were interested in something, and Conner nodded.
"Can we get three of these little mood rings?" Clark asked. They looked exactly like the one he gave Conner. "You want us all to have one?"
"So that you'll know I love you no matter where you are, too," Conner replied. Clark kissed Conner's cheek.
"You are the sweetest boy in the whole world," Lois whispered.

Why did you elbow me? 148
Achilles Castle part 50
The pharmacy Part 2
Howard: pov I'm telling Kate to breathe in and out slowly, Jenn says it looks like she is going to faint. All of the color has started draining from her face. She is rubbing her chest. Kate tells Seth to check on Tina and the baby first, all of a sudden Kate faints Seth manages to catch her before she falls over. He tells Wordy to take care of Tina. Seth looks concerned.
Seth: pov something doesn't feel right here. Howard says he thinks it's a panic attack. He explains the symptoms of a panic attack to me. I don't think it's a panic attack, then why would she faint. The pharmacist comes over and tells me she has a heart condition and wears a medical alert bracelet. I now notice it after she fainted. I read what is on the bracelet that is when it hits me she has arrhythmia.
Officer Wordy: pov Tina and the baby seem to be doing okay, i pick up the phone Kate dropped as a precaution an ambulance needs to be called Howard says Kate already called one for Tina. Seth says we need to call a second ambulance for Kate. I ask for a 2nd ambulance to be brought here.
911 Dispatcher Sara: pov hello sir what is your name and emergency. Okay your name is officer Wordy and you need a 2nd ambulance. The pregnant woman who is 35 weeks just gave birth, and the other woman has a heart condition who passed out. Is the pregnant woman and baby okay? The ambulance is just a precaution. Did the other woman have chest pain before she fainted, you're not sure. What is your address, it's a pharmacy okay.
Officer Seth: pov I ask the pharmacist if he can see what meds she takes and if he has oxygen back there he says yes. Phineas puts the oxygen mask on her face hoping it will help her breathe better.
Carla: pov Captain Beckett is laying on the floor. She doesn't look good at all, we are starting to freak out a little. I hear Seth say her medical alert bracelet says she has a heart condition. I hear him say something about her vitals.
Howard: pov Jenn is holding Kate's hand trying to wake her up. She is saying it's okay the medics are on their way. Can you open your eyes for me or squeeze my hand? Wordy gives me the cell phone to keep the medics updated.
911 Dispatcher Sara: pov Wordy has now handed the phone to Howard who is telling me her vitals.
Phineas The pharmacist: pov I mention Kate takes 3 kinds of heart meds and uses an inhaler as needed. One is an emergency injection, she is supposed to carry it with her everywhere. It should be in Kate's bag. Howard finds her injector in the bag. Her thigh is the best place to inject it. I pull her pants down a tiny bit so I can inject it into her thigh. This seems to cause her pain, the injection must have hurt. Let's hope me or Seth doesn't have to do CPR.
911 Dispatcher Sara: pov He says Kate is breathing funny, so she was given some oxygen and she was given a dose of her heart meds. Howard, can you try and keep her calm? Okay she is still unconscious. The medics should be there soon.
Barry: pov Wordy Is talking with Tina trying to keep her calm, she looks freaked out. The paramedics arrive for Tina and the baby the other hostages are still sitting on the floor.
Officer Wordy: pov priority of life means that Tina and her baby get taken care of first the first group of medics tend to her and get her ready for transport. The second group of medics arrive and Seth explains the little bit he knows,
Paramedic Lucas: pov I can tell Captain Beckett isn't doing so good, officer Seth fills me in on the little information he got. Turns out she has a heart condition. They injected her with her heart meds since it looked like a heart episode and she had fainted. My partner puts a pulse ox-meter on her finger, then takes her blood pressure and inserts an IV. I lift up her shirt to put the leads to the heart monitor on. That is when I notice she has a huge scar on the left side of her chest. Most likely from a surgery and a small round one near her left breast. It would be nice to know her medical history. Seth also noticed them. The pharmacist says he knows what the scar is from on her left side it's from her emergency heart surgery, wow. I ask him about her little scar since he seems to know the answers, he says it is from a bullet tearing through her chest, she was shot a few years ago. Wow this is from a shooting. It's quite obvious Kate has had severe chest trauma in the past. Phineas mentions the medication Kate takes. I administer some other meds into her IV and before I can ask more questions about her previous shooting he says it was a funeral.
Andros: pov no way she was shot at a funeral. Lucas asks if she showed any symptoms beforehand and if she ate or drank anything I say not that I know of. I tell Lucas that Anna gave everyone a piece of gum but that was it.
Police officer Seth: pov Kate is breathing better and her vitals are doing better. I decided to ride with Kate to the ER. Wordy is going to ride with Tina and the baby in the other ambulance. The other officers are taking Danny to jail and Letting the hostages go. The medics are monitoring her vitals very closely. I grab her phone from the box so I can call her family. In the ambulance the defibrillator paddles are on her chest in case of emergency. She is starting to come too. Lanie and Castle are the top 2 then Ryan and Esposito. I can hear Kate say muffled by the oxygen mask to call Lanie, which I do. To be continued. ……..

First Date: Cisco Ramon
UNEDITED
Cisco's POV
"Food, Check. Drinks, Check." I said making sure that everything was perfect, before hopping in the shower. After taking a shower I got ready, and double checking and making sure everything is how I wanted it, before hearing a knock on the door. I go to open it, to be greeted with (Y/N). "Hey!" "Hi! How are you?" "I'm good, I'm good, you can take a seat on the couch over there." "Okay." She said as she sat over to where I was pointing, and then I close the door.
"So, I have food and drinks out, I mean it's not much, but it's the thought that counts?" I said to her nervously, hoping she would agree with me. "That is true, and it's fine, I think this is sweet, that you did all this for me." She said reaching to grab some of the food, I left out for her. "Really? You sure? You aren't just saying that?" I said looking at her skeptically. "No, I'm not ju-," She stopped when we heard, knocking at the door. 'Please don't be a repeat of today, let me have this one.' I thought to myself, as I opened the door. "Hey, do you have the thing, you borrowed from me?" "No, I don't have it, I gave it to you this morning." "Well, I don't have it, maybe I could check, oh, sorry, didn't release you had company, you usually never, have anyone over let alone a girl-" "Can you get out?!" I said pushing them out the doorway, before closing the door. 'You really aren't going to let me have one day, without people interrupting me aren't you?' I thought to myself, as I walked over to (Y/N).
"Sorry about that," I said through nervous laughter. "It's okay, no worries." "Hey, you wanna watch a movie?" "Of course, let's do it!" She said taking off, her coat, and setting it on the arm of the couch, as I set up. "Any movies, you would like to watch?" "I've always wanted to see (movie of choice), but never got around to it." "Let's see, if they have that, and oh, they do." I said as I start to play the movie.
I then decided to make some popcorn for her, as the movie started to play. A couple minutes later, I started to hand her the popcorn, and there was yet another knock on the door. I sighed heavily, before handing her the popcorn, excusing myself, before answering the door. "Look, I don't have your- Barry? What are you doing here?" "I'm sorry to bother you, but it's urgent." "What's so urgent about it, that you gotta tell me this right now, you-," Barry then tells me something, I know that's vital information, about a meta human, that I've been hunting down on my own time. "Fine. I'm sorry, (Y/N), I need to take care of something." I said looking at her and she nodded her head, without even looking at me. 'To busy watching the movie, I presume.' I then stepped out into the hallway and talked to Barry.
(Y/N)'s POV
'I hope it's nothing to serious. I know I'm not supposed to listen in on peoples conversations, but I want to help Cisco, with whatever he's dealing with. But then if I tell him, that I want to help, he'd know I was listening.' I thought to myself, as I went back and forth with my own thoughts. I was to busy thinking to even realize that Cisco walked back in and sat next to me. "You okay?" He said, and it made me jump, and I screamed.
"It's okay, it's just me." Cisco said looking me in the eyes. "I know, sorry about that." "It's okay, but are you okay?" "Yeah, just lost in my own thoughts." "Okay, would you like some water?" "Yes, please." I said as he went over to get me some. "Hey, I over heard your convo..." "How much?" "Enough to know that, I want to help." "I'm sorry, but you can't." He said handing me the glass. "Why not? Is it because, I don't have powers? I can learn to fight. Is it because, I don't have the smarts to understand the situation? I can learn. It is because-" "I DON'T want you getting hurt, alright?" I then remained silent. "You mean way too much to me, and seeing you hurt.." Cisco trailed off not meeting my eye. "Cisco, I'm not going to get hurt, even if I do, I'll recover." "But what if it's life threatening, that's just to much to bare, and I want you staying in the lab, where it's safe." Cisco said, cupping my face, with his hands. "Cisco, I can't hide in that lab forever, I'm going to have to come out of hiding at some point." "I know, and that's what I'm afraid of..." He said looking away once more.
"Here, how about this?" I begin to say, as I make Cisco meet my eyes. "I'll fight with you and Barry, side by side, and if things get too dangerous for me, I'll get outta there as soon as possible. Okay?" "But-" "No, 'buts' we will just have to keep going back and forth, 'till you agree." I said, smirking, as I lightly draped my arms around his neck, playing with the hair at the nape of his neck. "As much as I don't like it, you can come with, but you have to promise to get outta there, ASAP. Understand me?" He said, wrapping his hands around my waist. "I understand." I then held my right hand up, as if to pledge my loyalty to him. "Good." He said kissing my forehead. "Now let's finish that movie." He said as we walked back over to the couch.

I still find it amusing that one of the first things that happens when DCEU!Barry and Arrowverse!Barry meet is they pet each other...
