When Saiki couldn’t go to Toritsuka for help, he’d approach you.

You weren’t explicitly aware of his powers, but you’ve had your suspicions. Though, it was something you never brought up in conversation with Saiki.

Whenever you do help Saiki out, you assure him that he isn’t in debt to you. This results in Saiki going out of his way to silently pay you back. He knows your words are true, but he wasn’t okay with a good deed going unrewarded.

Additionally, you were okay with doing just about anything. Help him stay away from the sports festival? Sure, you hated it too. Join the Occult club so there’s a not-so-annoying familiar face? Why not? The club seemed like it wouldn’t be too much work.

Talk to a guy from another class for Saiki? Okay.

You weren’t the best at starting a conversation, and neither was Satou Hiroshi. Why Saiki wants to know his interests, you didn’t bother asking. It wasn’t your business.

Opening a conversation with Satou wasn’t hard at all—you figured you could just lie on the spot. “Hi, Satou. Truth be told, I’ve been wanting to talk to you for a while. I want to make friends from every section, and I thought I’d talk to you.”

Satou looks up at you, surprised. “Me? But, I’m not as interesting as the other guys here... Like Toritsuka–”

You abruptly shake your head. “I’ve interacted enough with him. I’m good. But, you... You just have a calming presence, you know? Puts people at ease.”

Saiki, from afar, listens in on your conversation. You had suggested to be on call with him as you made conversation with Satou.

Listening in on your conversation with Satou was something Saiki could do without the help of technology, but you didn’t know that, so Saiki agreed. This made you one of the really few people in Saiki’s phone contacts.

You pull an empty chair near Satou and sit on it. “So, tell me, what do you like? Any favorite bands, drinks, stuff like that?”

Satou happily answers you. “One OK Rock! I love their songs! Ah, I drink a lot of peach tea, too.”

You smile at Satou. “Oh, that’s nice. Do you have any hobbies?”

“I like to read.”

You nod. Average hobby. I like to read too. Everyone likes reading to a certain degree. You then ask him, “Oh? What kind of stuff do you read?”

Satou hums. “Well, I read all kinds of books. I like to pick up a copy of Weekly Jump on Fridays; kind of a reward for getting through the week.”

“That’s so interesting...! Would you want to walk home with me later? That way, we could talk more.” You put your hand in your pocket, checking to see if your phone was still there. You proceed to stand up from the chair and put it back in its place.

Satou awkwardly laughs in response. “I’m sorry, but I have a few errands to do after school, I wouldn’t want to drag you around with me. Maybe some other time.”

You laugh back. “It’s alright. There’s no need for you to apologize! I’ll be on my way now. Good luck with class, Satou.”

“Thank you, you too.” Satou waves before walking away.

You take out your phone and hold it close to your ear. “So? Is that all?”

Saiki hums. “Yes. Thank you.”

“How are you going to get this week’s Jump? We aren’t allowed to leave schoolgrounds until classes are over.”

Saiki answers you, “I have my ways.”

You furrow your brows. “Alright... Why do you want to hang out with him, anyway? No offense, but he’s kind of... bland.”

“That’s exactly why I want to talk to him. Also, we can stop the call. I can see you walking towards me.”

You sigh and end the call, continuing your conversation with Saiki face-to-face. “Alright... And you’re sure he’ll talk to you?”

Saiki shrugs.

You reply flatly, “That’s reassuring. I’ll be at Café Mami if things go well, or not. The usual booth. I’ll just text you.”

I could use clairvoyance to find you, but that works.

...

You enter Café Mami, alone for the time being, and look for an empty booth. You spot one and head straight to it, setting your bag down. You text Saiki.

You:

Do you want coffee jelly?

Saiki:

You:

How’s it going with Satou?

Saiki:

I’m waiting for him by the gate. I have a copy of this week’s Jump with me, and I bought peach tea from the cafeteria.

You:

Okay. This means you’ll be going to Café Mami though, right?

Saiki:

I’m just going for the coffee jelly.

You smile at his message before closing your phone. Keep telling yourself that, Saiki.

The manager approaches you and takes your order; you order something for yourself, and two cups of coffee jelly for Saiki. One for him to eat here, and...

“The other coffee jelly is to-go, thank you.”

You open your phone again and search up the band Satou mentiond, One OK Rock. You rummage your bag for your earphones, but to your dismay, you couldn’t find it.

You quietly sigh to yourself. I guess... I’ll listen with my phone really close to my ear. God, I hope no one hears.

You choose a song and pleasantly listen to it. This actually isn’t so bad. Might add this to my playlist– the song stops. You check the notification.

Saiki:

Hello. I am on my way there.

You:

Take care. ♡

You see Saiki enter Café Mami, and your eyes dart towards the earphones he’s wearing. You point at it. “Those are mine! Where did you get those?”

Saiki sits down as he answers you, “Your bag.”

“You didn’t ask...!”

The manager approaches you two. “Here’s your order. The coffee jelly to-go will be served shortly.”

Saiki looks at you, confused about that last sentence.

“Ah, I ordered a second one for you to enjoy at home.”

Saiki’s eyes sparkle at your words.

You bring your order closer to you. “So, how did things go with Satou?”

Saiki slumps his shoulders and dejectedly hands you back your earphones. “I’ll be taking both coffee jellies to-go, thanks.”

Your voice was riddled with panic, “Huh–?! No, don’t go! Is it that bad?”

“He didn’t talk to me.”

You laugh. “That’s it? Did you even try to talk to him? You’re not the most chatty person I know.”

Saiki nods. “I had everything he liked; Weekly Jump, peach tea, and I was listening to One OK Rock. I even smiled at him.”

You hold back your laughter, you didn’t want Saiki to feel worse than he already did. “Maybe... Maybe he didn’t talk to you because he knew you stole my earphones.”

Irritated, Saiki replies, “That is totally unrelated”

You shrug. “Yeah.” You decide to tease him, “Maybe your smile was weird. Off-putting. I mean, you don’t smile a lot.”

Saiki shakes his head. “My smile wasn’t weird.”

“I’ll have to see for myself.”

“No.”

“You’re no fun.”

Saiki doesn’t reply to your comment, opting to finally eat the coffee jelly in front of him.

“Here’s the coffee jelly to-go. Your order’s complete. Thank you!”

You smile at the waiter and gently push the paper bag with the coffee jelly inside towards Saiki.

Hm... Maybe if he smiled at Satou like that, then they’d be hanging out like this. Ah, then I wouldn’t be able to see Saiki so happy. Perhaps I’ll be selfish, just this once.

Saiki thought to himself as he ate the coffee jelly. For someone who’s had their suspicions about my powers, you sure think rather shamelessly. You’ve done a lot for me, so I’ll let you have this.

Saiki finishes his coffee jelly. “Take out your phone.”

You do as told, although clueless to Saiki’s intentions. “Okay...?”

“I’ll show you the smile I gave to Satou.”

You move over in your seat so Saiki could sit beside you. He takes the hint and walks over to you.

You two smile and you snap a picture, the smile on your face still there as you examine it. Saiki returns to his seat.

You two were smiling, but you were the only one looking at the camera. You look up from your phone, then at Saiki. “Why were you looking at me?”

He’d then respond, “I wasn’t ready.” You looked happy.

You and your boyfriend Jungkook have known each other since childhood. Growing up from childhood best friends to each other then to high school sweethearts. You always had supported Jungkook decisions with a pure heart. He was the first to tell his best friend he wanted to be a trainee, and like a good friend you wished him the best and supported him. His trainee days were probably the toughest time in his life and the friendship between you guys. But you loved him so much so you pulled through for years. And it worked out because you're in a committed relationship with your best friend. Now Jungkook happens to be one of the biggest and most successful idols in the world. So that does require him to be away from the love of his life a lot. For months at a time. But when he does come home you better be waiting with open arms and open legs.

You and jungkook both lie on his bed. Jungkook can't seem to keep his hands off of you smiles softly, his fingers travelling up and down your body as he rests on top of you. Jungkook smiles warmly through your hair. “I know… I hate being away from you, I’m so much happier just having you in my arms.” He nuzzles your neck, kissing it softly. You smile. "I watch the videos your company posts on YouTube I see you cuddling with your members when I'm not there." You teased with a smirk. Jungkook chuckles, his lips pressing against your cheek. As he felt up your sides. “Maybe occasionally…” His fingers travel higher up your body, his arms tightening around you once more. Pulling you even closer to him. He starts to feel you up. He cups your breasts in his hands and with his warm hands he massages them with his fingers and making small circles with his thumbs. Pinching the nipple slightly. "Am i better than Jimin?" 🩵Hailey Headcanons🩷

(Honestly, out of all the Music Club members, Hailey’s probably the one I’m the least attached to, but I absolutely adore her dynamics with other characters, so… this’ll mostly about her relationships with others lol.)

🩵Used to be a HUGE tattle-tale when she was young. (Would always threaten to tell on Zander for everything.) (Zander reminds her of this a lot and she cringes every time.)

🩷Loves women’s country music, and will blast it in her room just to annoy Zander.

🩵Hailey has REALLY BAD split ends, and Zander’s always getting on her case about it, telling her to just cut it off. She refuses.

🩷Her and Zander used to fight over everything when they were young. They were horrible at sharing.

🩵Sometimes when Hailey gets anxious she’ll typically grab Zander’s sleeve. (Which activates Protect Brother Mode.)

🩷Often asks for Zander’s help planning outfits for special occasions.

🩵Sends Zander a lot of her Pinterest finds.

🩷Vents to Zander about almost everything.

🩷The absolute no. 1 Lander shipper. (Anyone who claims to support them more can fight her.)

🩷Hasn’t gone one club session without having to yell: “MILLY!!!” at least once. (Either because of something stupid she did, or something out-of-pocket she said.)

🩵Her and Milly are bi and I do not take criticism. They definitely spent a night or two gossiping about actresses they find cute.

🩷Probably the worst with technology, and usually has to get either Zander or Sean’s help. (There was definitely a time where her computer wasn’t working, and Zander fixed it simply by turning off and on again.) (She felt like an idiot for weeks afterwards.)

🩵Sean has given Hailey a couple lessons on how to edit music, yet she still struggles with understanding how everything works.

🩷Finds Jake to be super cute. (And always has, even before he joined the club.) (And the fact he was cute only made her hate him more.)

🩵Hailey has given Jake a few guitar lessons. Her hand grazed his once during one of them and she still isn’t fully over it.

🩷Post competition, Hailey played Taylor Swift’s ‘Love Story’ on her guitar, and could only imagine Jake while she played it. She still doesn’t really know why. (HMMMM I WONDER-)

🩵She thinks back to the time Jake pinned her against the wall randomly and screams internally.

🩷Still thinks about her and Lia’s old friendship sometimes.

🩵Lia probably had a crush on her back in Middle School, but Hailey was too dense to realize. (Hailia has me in a chokehold-)

It widens to a stage-worthy smile as he crosses his legs and smiles to the audience

I: Weeelcome folks! This is the first episode of your new weekly talkshow here on thecomfywriter network. Welcome to… The Naveena-Verse Show! 

Confetti sparks as a large screen behind the host flickers on with a glitching neon sign that reads, THE NAVEENA-VERSE. 

I: I’m your host, Ian Obsidian, one of the rejects of thecomfywriter’s wips. While my career as a star is over, I’m not done yet! I’ll be the voice of the public, here to interview all the cast and characters of thecomfywriter network’s books! Here on this show, we get into the nitty-gritty, asking scandalous questions, reveal nailbiting lore, and delve deep into the psyche of these characters. You’re going to get the childhood stories. The traumatizing events. The hidden crushes. The scandalous affairs. Every rumour, every whisper, every question— I am here to make sure you all get the answers you seek.

A little birdie told me of the sister who kissed her sister’s boyfriend some time ago— OOPS! Or the same sister who continues to sabotage her sister’s every relationship, whether it be platonic or romantic. Hmmmm... I wonder why? We’ll find out, that’s for sure. And then, of course, the well-mannered, perfectly calm and moral protagonist who hides a secret sadism behind the warmth of his eyes. Say… isn’t he the same man who feasted on the blood of all his victims? Or are we not supposed to talk about how he imprisoned his own father and electrocuted him repeatedly for the sake of it? Hmm… I wonder what his morality had to say about excusing the mass murders his serial-killer mentor proudly admits to committing. 

The audience gasps as Ian Obsidian grins more sinisterly. 

I: And then, we can’t skip the other sister, who hides snakes in her necklace and insanity behind her smile. The girl who always goes unnoticed. The serpent in the grass, the unnoticed shadow who notices all— the girl who pretends she wasn’t the thief who poisoned an entire feast she offered a starving man. Lastly, the charming face of his kingdom. The celebrity, the schemer, the pawn. A puppet to his parents, to the monarchy he hates, and every guardian he has that doesn’t want him. I do wonder what the secret behind his infantile memory is? Or his loathsome attitude towards his poor younger sister. 

Ian Obsidian shuts the screen off behind him and makes direct eye contact with the camera.

The characters who rule the program, who hold the crown of reverence— the golden geese of @thecomfywriter network! Introducing… the legendary! The iconic! The controversial! The cast of Throne of Vengeance!

The audience applauses as the spotlight switches over to the four people entering the room. In walks, front and centre, Caramel with her flaming red hair and sparkling blue dress; Alan with his modest smile and humble vest and trousers; Cara with her bonny smile and trademark grey and purple outfit; and Morreial ja with his famous ja smile and casually flamboyant suit. 

I: Come in! Come in, folks! Take a seat! Get comfy! What will you have to drink? Unfortunately, we don’t have any broopasha here, but we have sugar-

Caramel: Ew. 

Morreial ja chuckles, trying to draw attention to himself. Meanwhile, Cara simply presses her eyes closed, and Alan grimaces. 

CM: Sorry. Was that rude? I just hate sugar on its own. Broopasha is fine, but sugar? Yuck yuck, ew ew. 

Cara [whispering]: Okay, Red. I think he gets it.

Morreial: Thank you for having us today. Water will be fine for now. 

Alan: If it is no trouble! Thank you. We appreciate your hospitality immensely.

CM: No water for me! That's so boring, guys, what? I’ll take spiced tea! Extra spicy! >:)

Ian Obsidian looks between each cast member, then to the audience with an amused grin. 

I: My my… we’re already off to a great start.

Or since we’ve kinda shifted the idea that the concept of being an heir isn’t necessarily as important to astaira as it is Roderick, does that even factor in anymore? I mean maybe he just wants ALLLL THE SWORDS and I guess maybe even Rian might be after them since he is an actual stafforrd TBC And those swords probably asp would have been going to him if domhall hadn’t dominated those trials hahaha 😆 forgottenrian @forgottenarias KATE!!!!! I love all of this (especially Roderick just wanting all the swords 😅😅😅) but I didn’t even connect— it would probs be even more important for the heir to have some sort of ~thing~ with being an important figure in the ruling family’s geopolitical endeavors even w/ still having to compete for the throne asp!! Since Rian knows everything about Astaira (so he thinks!) he might also be like “well and then the mythical lost third sword…” for Roderick to be like WAIT WHAT? 😅 @forgottenrian but ALSO his conflict!! It makes sense! He’s got a lot to grapple with… so does he tell Roderick? Does he keep the secret for his family? (in our case here, i lowkey feel like rian's dad would've been the evenstar, since he was the firstborn son of stafford, but he gave it up to run away in his hissy fit abt his lil bro being king, so it fell to domhnall to do that ~too, and thus eilia and then aria, in turn, effectively took charge of the staffords lands, when they were old enough? but bc of the below, maybe siobhan did that after aria? or aria was doing it the whole time? your call kate <3)

when the consort is unable (pregnancy, illness, death, etc) the heir also often acts as ambassador to that nation/does all the many political duties of the consort

while generally anyone may insert their name into the lists for the ~kingsmoot, the heir is the only person ~required to do so, and indeed the kingsmoot must wait till the heir is old enough/able to do so w astaira being ruled by the elders/witan/council till that time

lbr the heir to the king does have some advantages over everyone else!!! they've been raised in this position, they're known to the ppl (tho that could be just as easily a detraction if they're not suited ig!! aksldjfkljdsf), they have all kinds of training etc, they have the backing of astaira's closest ally via the queen dowager

SWORD IDEAS

i def think rian's dad wanted to find the lost stafford sword in order to burst in on domhnall w it and thus proclaim himself rightful king!!!

since -- if we go w the idea of it having belonged to the og king of all astaira (who united it etc) -- its maybe seen as more than just a ~stafford sword but as a kingsword a la excalibur like that's king arthur's sword but its not a sword of the house of pendragon so much as its the rightful king's sword, based on their character not their bloodline etc, but at the same time it is def a pendragon sword too like thats who made it who wielded it etc...

and thus rian has been raised to believe that the lost sword is basically ~about him~ out there specifically to prove himself the rightful ruler etc as both stafford and the best dude for the job(tm)

RANDOM IDEA

ive always talked abt this but i just realized...idk if i ever ratified it above mere ~headcanon~ -- one of the things the ruler gives up is the right to marry by choice

they can only marry by the consent of the ppl (which is kinda what eilia is basing her protest on re: roderick and keeping him from forcing the matter bc the whole point of marrying her is to ~not tick off astaira!) w a kind of queensmoot situation (tho probs no trial just a general -- should this country/person be our closest ally/parent to the most likely ~future ruler! kinda thing) ++ might tie into eilia/aria/siobhan's parents' marital situation, as well?? (maybe he loved someone else but wed for duty or smth?)

More on Sigma since yall ate up the last post tysm guys (*´꒳`*)

Anyways as I was saying Sigma has done some shit that proves he’s not a UwU baby and here I’ll explain to you more. 

Sigma, unlike the rest of the DOA doesn’t want to just jump to violence, that’s not his thing since he knows his ability really isn’t meant for combat. Though he will still do it as seen multiple times. It also never once says he regret hurting/killing multiple innocent civilians. “Oh but Dazai said he didn’t see Sigma as a terrorist at all 🥺🥺 therefore-“ nope. Shut up 😍. Compared to Gogol and Fyodor, Sigma is not a terrorist. He hasn’t done nearly as much as they have, but he still is. Now I’d like to bring attention to the fact that the casino is actually Sigma’s REWARD for the use of his skill. Therefore, due to his part being over in the plan as Dazai said, he had no reason to fight on the frontlines. Yet he still did it to protect the casino, which was being used for terrorism and stuff. Hmmmm…. If he was an UwU innocent baby why would he do this? It’s because he’s not please shut up I’m actually losing in from people acting like that. Just note this past section is only from the first few pages of the 18th novel. We’re no where near close to being done!! Remember when The hunting dogs asked him to shut down that casino? Here is his reaction to that:

I personally don’t think this is how any UwU baby would act… idk just my thoughts. He literally yelled at them, didn’t even try to politely explain why he wouldn’t do that he just told them to fuck off. Now we have Tachihara and Teruko walking along just doing their job (stop hating Teruko for doing her job it makes me so mad) and just getting stabbed by a random civilian. Here we see Sigma, literally making stuff up as he’s using people as literal weapons whilst knowing damn well you’re not supposed to do that. He literally uses the fact that as police Teruko and Tachihara can’t hurt them as a way of ENCOURAGING people to harm literal government figures. He had no hesitation to do that to people, unlike when he hesitated to use the plane on the casino, showing that at this point he is valuing a CASINO over HUMAN LIVES (B-but the casino is his home 🥺, ok and? Would you manipulate innocent people into literal weapons to protect your house? I don’t think so) It’s important to note that this is the only thing Sigma really owns, so he is defending it in a state of panic. It still gives him no right to do such things though. No I’m not trying to make Sigma sound like a bad person he’s my favorite bad character and it physically hurts to see all the mischaracterization I cry myself to sleep bc ppl r like this. As Fyodor said: “You won’t find a scarier thing in the world than a common man who is desperate” and we know that bc sigma said “If it’s for the casino I’ll do anything” here’s a little reminder:

Now yeah he was having a little breakdown about it, like who wouldn’t. Can someone not show emotion without being called UwU soft? Seriously? If you were in that situation I bet you’d want to spring outta that room crying too. And yet here we are, he’s still using on and you know how? He’s shooting at Teruko with big ass guns. I don’t think owning those is legal in the slightest.

This is not legal. Firing these is not legal. And here is the most important part. The sonic gun and this is gonna be in bold bc it’s one of my leading points He showed no hesitation to kill Teruko in one of the most painful ways for a hunting dog to be killed. He forced her to puncture her eardrums as a last result of survival, as he says “This is all apart of the plan” showing that he planed ahead of time to try and kill a hunting dog. This is not something someone who is innocent would do in the slightest. He is well prepared to kill someone without regret. He decided to save a casino instead of his self, and attempted to take Teruko down with him. 

And then we get to the part when he gets saved by Atsushi. He says he didn’t mean to stab the chief. Ok fine he didn’t mean to do that, but he still did it even if he regretted it. Can people not show regret for their actions? Goddamn ok. Also the way he spoke to Gogol- that’s not innocent at all he was downright hating on him. “I hate dealing with this decay member the most” bro even was like: Why didn’t you die man. In no way in his speech does he act soft at all I can’t see how you people got that. Maybe it was from his confused reaction? Or something. And just know this it only the 18th novel I’ve covered so far. I’ll do more in a later part :3 but anyways thanks for reading this I hope both sides of ur pillow are cold and I hope this helped you understand sigma better!!

My sister (who does NOT play ikepri) and I were drinking one night and We were talking about the state fair and she was all “oh that reminds me did you ever name your tiger stuffed animal you won?” I was like “oh yea I named him chevalier or Chev for short (it’s a white tiger plush with ice blue eyes how could I not?) and she was all “where did you get that name from?” I was like “from ikemen Prince” and this led to me explaining the characters and their animal crests … I get to Gilbert and tell her he’s the black tiger and she’s all “NO if Chev is a tiger then Gilbert isn’t l allowed to be a tiger there can ONLY BE ONE! And Chev seems to have called it so Gilbert just has to choose something else and stop being a copy cat” (Im Not sure why Rio and Silvio both being dogs didn’t bother her tho lol maybe it just didn’t stand out as much to her 😂) and I was like “… ok but … then what can Gilbert be then?” She was like hmmmm and she looked around the room picks up her stuffed prize she won at the fair and she’s like “he can be the COW!” (Ofc her prize was a cow plushie and now she has named him Gilbert) and as stupid as this conversation was it is now a dumb joke for us to keep bringing up

Gosh the more I hear about DD the more I’m like I’m so glad I’m still playing Apollo Justice. Uhhhhh oh! Top five or three if your personal NRMT Headcanons and maybe one or two of your HCs for Phoenix and Miles by themselves? I saw a post earlier about like hard and soft HCs, hard being stuff you just need to have about the character for them to make sense to you and soft is less rude or die but something you still enjoy.

I guess one for me is the Bi Phoenix / realizing he’s also attracted to men. It’s not a deal breaker really but if a fic went out of its way to say he was only gay I might squint a little like mmmmm not a fan but you do you

And then a soft one is him having heterochromia. I can flow with his big brown puppy dog eyes but despite recent set him having two blue eyes isn’t Bad. But it’s one of those things I never noticed until someone said it and I saw they changed Maya to have blue eyes too and THAT feels wrong haha (no hate to blue eyed Maya-truthers)

yeah, dont get me wrong, theres still some REALLY GOOD NRMT moments in DD (like if u present phoenix's badge to miles, for instance) but that combined with that one quote i mentioned earlier just. does not make sense to me.

I feel like you have a knack for really looking deeper into the work and finding connections, and bringing out a complete story! It's a little funny, I think recent western fandom developments have made analysis for this series hard, since everyone is so quick to point out themes of abuse and such... which isn't necessarily bad, but when has real life ever been so simple. HEY THANKS this is probably my... favorite of the posts I’ve made, I!!! even wish it was a little more coherent/organized lol.... but, I’m glad the messaging is there and interesting and got through!! I really-- feel most strongly, about this through line between all arcs!!! My jaw was.... on the floor, as Akane/Aoi happened, I couldn’t imagine their r’ship would also thread all of these themes into it. I also thought the manga would be a little messier, have a few more loose ends, some ‘randos’ if you will. I honestly thought Akane and Aoi would always remain boring to me, and I can’t believe the manga essentially popped me in the jaw about all my assumptions. The ‘twist’ of their personalities doesn’t even feel cheap, either .... I suddenly felt legitimately guilty for writing off Aoi as ‘just some normal girl, friend of Nene, nothing significant’..... I had to deal with Akane going from “god, some goober SIMP out here...” in my mind to “hhihihieeeek... why is he allowed to do hot things omg”

I’ve definitely seen some write-ups try to assert the theme is ‘abuse’, and responses to/conditions of abuse, but by god, if that were true, it sure would be gosche how often this manga uses punches and brutality as either a punchline (what is Akane + Teru in this lol?), or a spicey picante to an ultimately romantic scene

It would be so out of tune for a Manga About Abuse to sooooocapriciously depict the very ropes that symbolize isolation and ownership/control/influence of others as sexually alluring. Boy all the contexts of these, ropes... all these situations....

... but if isolation/ownership/control was at times allowed to be an aspect of some sort of, ultimate love, hmmmmm... hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....

Not to be TOO cheeky, lol, but gosh.... devotional love bleeds through every inch of symbolism in the manga. Hanako himself compares being ‘bound’ to ‘like being in a relationship’ (I can’t... believe you say that....)

ohhhhhh famous bound-boy Hanako-kun can just say being ‘bound’ and ‘being in a couple’ are synonymous by certain definitions? you who are bound? to someone? GEEZ. I honestly hate this manga sometimes. It’s TOO linear. It’s almost blindingly direct.

Which is to say, there's a lot more to appreciate to a character than only thinking theyre worthless because they're annoying... ♡ devotion! I was starting to think AidaIro was writing a really confusing all-over-the-place story, but these analyses are really making me rethink my way of media analysis. Sometimes it's very easy to just parrot what other people say as fact, and not think about things deeper... anyways! Just offering my appreciation again. ☆ミ

It’s.... rrrgh I’m just one person with one interpretation, in a sea of equally proposed ones, I’m just happy if anything I say feels like it ‘clicks’ or rings true to what you’ve read yourself, personally. If it goes down smoother than other things you’ve tried to perceive in the text. 

Its always a struggle for me a bit-- I love DOING analysis-- but I also dislike the way modern fandom tends to convene on analysis and defer to analysis, rather than engaging the manga themselves directly (and trying to interpret it for their own). On one hand I resent the pipeline of some reddit take becoming the penultimate western narrative (usurping the very manga itself), but also I kindof have no choice but to try to assert my own take, too, and influence other’s perceptions (for better or worse, as I’m just some shmuck).

I feel that modern-day fandom is sortof odd, I think social media winds up dominating and creating a singular discussion/interpretation of media  .... I saw it so much I did want to at least, prove that someone out there has a different take, that very different interpretations can exist....?

...but anyway, I do think. Love is this manga’s greater unifying factor than anything else. Sincerely!!! Really!!!

42—What's a fandom trope you hate?

Okay, so, generally, I try not to hate fandom stuff. Especially in comics fandom, because like…half the stuff that is hateable is somehow canon so I feel bad for hating fan-stuff when I could be hating canon.

THAT BEING SAID—

Very Good Bat Dad Bruce Wayne.

Okay and…look.

I don’t hate it in the sense of like, I think nobody should make fanworks with Good Bat Dad Bruce Wayne, or nobody should talk about Bruce Wayne being a good dad, or people shouldn’t have headcanons about it, or anything like that. (Hell, I love WFA, so…yeah.)

HOWEVERRRRR…I can’t lie, my brain does rankle a little when I see people soft headcanons and I’m like “BUT WE KNOW WHAT HE WOULD DO THERE! BECAUSE HE DID NOT DO THAT! HE DID LIKE THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT YOU’RE SAYING!! AHHHHH!!!”

Which is obviously stupid because 1) people are allowed to like non-canon things, and 2) getting angry over a fan’s characterization being inconsistent in a comic-based canon is like…hoo, that’s like so low on the priority list of Things To Be Annoyed By.

But my brain still has that little feeling of “go on a rant. Post pics of Bruce manipulating and beating up his kids. *Palpatine voice* DEWIT.”

47—What's the worst blatantly untrue fanon take you thought was canon?

Hmmmm…idk I’ve thought any fanon “takes” were canon? And “blatantly untrue” is kind of tricky in comics when like…5-12 different truths are equally true and untrue in the same moment.

But I did think Replacement was real! It still blows my mind that it isn’t. IT IS NOWHERE!!! NOWHERE!!! (I could’ve sworn I saw it used ONCE in BftC but then I very confidently tried to find it and couldn’t and I assume that I dreamed it in a fit of Replacement Madness.)

50—What's something that bled into comics from a tv show or movie that you hate?

(Can I tell you how tempted I am to say Harley Quinn? It’s not even true, I’m down with that clown, but the temptation is overwhelming.)

Hmmm…I can’t think of anything, so I’m going to reverse the question and list a thing in Batcomics that *haven’t* bled over that I’m annoyed are still absent and a thing in the DCU that I’m annoyed is still absent in film.

First, STOP TRYING TO MAKE BATMAN REAL! The Batverse is weird as fuck! The Riddle man wears green and loves question marks!!! Yeah OF COURSE it’s not “realistic” THE WHOLE PREMISE IS ABOUT A BILLIONAIRE DUDE DRESSING LIKE A BAT AND PUNCHING CRIMINALS!!!! Like, ?????

Woah. Okay, so right after I made that post, things started picking up at the airport so I totally didn’t get to answer this there, but I did write an answer in my notes instead of sleeping on the plane.

(And death is a very good word to describe it, thank you)

Okokok I’m kind of excited bc these are such random asks. Like, I guess I didn’t specify what kind of asks I wanted, so anything goes. But still, this is exciting. I’m excited.

1. Lava lamps or conch shells? This question is very silly to me. They seem like very random things to compare, but perhaps in terms of room decor, it makes sense? I will, for sentimental purposes, have to go with lava lamps. I always wanted one of those things as a kid bc I thought they were so cool (I still do, I mean seriously, it’s so mesmerizing), but my mom never let me have one because she didn’t trust me with it.

2. Horror movies or romcoms? Easy peasy. Horror movies 100%. Every time I watch a romcom, I simply can’t care less (with a few exceptions, I guess). And I know that sounds strange coming from a fanfic author, but I can’t deal with them- at least the cliché ones. Horror movies, on the other hand, have always played a big part in my life bc I watch them with so many people and I have so many happy memories stemming from them.

3. Real color or dyed color hair? Hmmmm… this one’s hard. I think I’d realistically have to go with real color bc I’m too scared to dye my hair bc I occasionally act and you’ve got a better chance in the business if you look boring. But, I’ve always wanted to try dying my hair a crazy color but it kinda freaks me out.

4. Lemonade or tea? I cannot stand tea. I have a friend who is a tea enthusiast and I don’t know how they do it. Lemonade isn’t my favorite either since it makes your throat feel dry, but a cold lemonade on a hot day sounds much better than tea.

5. Mario and Luigi or Princess Peach and Daisy? These are such fun questions, they make me laugh. This one’s actually a hard one. Luigi is my go-to in Mario Party because I feel bad since he’s the less-loved brother, but the princesses are awesome too. I guess I have to go with Mario and Luigi in the end, but that doesn’t make daisy and peach any less cool.

6. Crossword puzzle or word search? I’m too dumb and uncultured to do crosswords. Word searches, on the other hand, I can do very fast and I love to brag about it.

7. Warm or cold colors? I love these questions so much! This one is very very hard, but I’ve always been a fan of cool colors. Blue is my favorite color and green is a close second. All the different shades of cool colors are just so stunning, especially together and warm colors are beautiful, but cool colors definitely take the win.

8. Warm or cold showers? I always try to take cold showers bc I know it’s better for you (maybe? Someone told me that once), but I can’t resist a warm shower. I live in a petty cold place too, so a warm shower at the end of the day feels amazing. I’ll take a cold one when I want to go fast, though.

9. Rain or snow? I already said I lived in a cold place, so you can guess I hate snow. I hate it with my entire being, I hate shoveling, I hate puffy jackets, I hate Icy roads, and I hate frostbite. Rain makes everything look so nice and I love it so much and it’s my favorite weather type, on the other hand.
