Don’t look so Scandalised… we are Married After All
Monkey D. Luffy x Marine!Reader
Summary: You moved yourself onto the Sunny and everyone is shocked to see you making yourself so at home.
Series Masterlist
Part V
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Slowly, one by one, the crew begins to creep awake.
As pirates, they have no actual obligation to be up in the early hours, but you? Years of waking up at sunrise has reset your internal clock.
So you sat in the kitchens joining dining table, sipping your tea and buzzing with excited energy as you read the morning paper.
Maverick Rear Admiral Abandons Post to Join Proclaimed Husband Monkey D. Luffy
As you sat there reading the article and swooning with joy at the scathing article. A deep voice breaks the silence. “Madam Monkey — is that you?” You hear Sanji sputtering, his hand holding the door open with a shocked expression, as if your mere presence has slapped Sanji in the face.
“Oui monsieur~” You answer with that teasing tone of yours, smile widely as you take another sip of your tea. Watching Sanji melt like a puddle.
“W-what are you doing here?” He asks, “N-not that we don’t want you here, just, wow—“ He shuffles towards the kitchen, completing his mise en place, for the morning.
“Didn’t you hear? I’ve abandoned post to be with my husband.” You say casually, taking another sip of your tea.
“Well I’ll be damned— Captain is one lucky guy.” He mutters bitterly.
The door slams open with Franky’s early morning cheer. “SUPER GOOOD MORNING!” He bellows, holding his arms together to form a star. “WOAH, Y/N, WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?” He screams pulling you into a friendly, bone crushing, hug.
At Frankys announcement, it felt like the rest of the crew came crashing through the door.
“Did I hear Y/n?!” Nami ran through the door excitedly, almost jumping onto you as you both hug. “Hey Robin! Y/n is here!” She yells out, Robin following through the door shortly after.
“Good Morning Mrs. Monkey, does this mean you’re joining the crew?” She says with a chuckle, leaning in and hugging you, along with Nami, who still didn’t loosen her hold of you.
Ussop, Chopper, Jinbe, Zoro and Brook arrived shortly after, greeting you excitedly.
You all gather around the table. The crew listening intently on your tales as Sanji cooks away in the kitchen.
But the room turns silent at their Captains arrival, waiting with baited breaths to watch their captains reaction at your sudden appearance. Only for him to tiredly shuffles towards his special spot, which just so happens to be next to you, his eyes still sealed shut. “Sanji! Where’s my food!” He grumbles his demands as Sanji sets his plate down.
“I thought you’d at least have the decency to greet your wife before yelling demands for food.” Sanji scoffs, stepping back in the kitchen to gather the rest of the plates.
“Woah, that looks good— let me try.” You say, reaching and tearing away a piece of Luffy’s pastry and eating it. “Wow that’s amazing! I can’t believe I get to eat like this every day!”
The room turns deathly silent as you stole food of Luffy’s plate and he… just sits there doing nothing.
“Sanji’s cooking is the greatest! Here try some of this!” Luffy stabs at the plate, before shoving the fork past your lips. “It’s good huh.” He asks rhetorically, stabbing away at his plate and forcefully shoving his fork to your mouth once again.
You pull back quickly, “Don’t feed me your whole plate, otherwise you won’t have anything left to eat.” You remind him as he nods.
“Yeah — but it’s funny. Your cheeks get all puffy when I feed you.” He chuckles as he finally begins to dig into his own food.
“I-I-I never seen Luffy share food before.” Usopp shutters in horror. “This has to be an imposter!” The crew collectively state at you two with wide eyes.
“We are husband and wife— of course we share.” You shrug. Standing up from the table. “If you wouldn’t mind, I’ve had a long journey getting here and I desperately need a bath. I’ll see you all later~” You waves walking towards the door, causing Luffy to abruptly stand.
“Wait for me!” He yells, dashing out the door before you. “I’ll get the bath ready!”
Your look over your shoulder to see the crew with widened eyes. “Don’t look so Scandalised… we are Married After All.”
A shocked squeal escapes Nami, her skin crawls as if she’s just now learning that her innocent, niave, captain isn’t as innocent as she thought.
“D-did he just say he’s getting the bath ready and to wait for him?!” Brook squeals at and begins to reel at this new information. The unfairness of it all hitting him like a ton of bricks.
“I’m in hell! I’m in hell!” Sanji screams and carry’s on entranced into a tantrum like state.
“Good grief, get a grip curly brow.” Zoro grumbles disinterested.
“What a cute couple.” Robin laughs lightly. “They eat and bathe together.”

"Hey, Luffy! Come here!"
"Okay!"
And that’s all it takes. He doesn’t even hesitate, just rushes over, bright-eyed and grinning—completely trusting, completely Luffy.
And the second he’s close enough, you pounce.
"Nom nom nom nom." You bite his soft, gummy cheeks, sinking your teeth in just enough to make him squeal, stretching his skin between your fingers as he flails and laughs. You poke his sides, tickle his ribs, squeeze him tight while he wriggles, calling your name between gasps and giggles. He gets a few nips in too—cheeky little bites to your shoulder, your arm—but you’ve got him, your teeth grazing his wrist, his jaw, before you start pressing playful kisses against that scar under his eye.
His hat. His precious hat. You make sure not to knock it off, one hand steady on top to keep it in place, but eventually, you shift it back just a little—just enough to sink your fingers into his messy, inky black hair. His laughter slows into something softer, a warm hum of happiness, and then you just hug him.
Head tucked against his shoulder, arms wrapped around him, and he’s beaming, all warmth and sunshine as he holds you just as tight. His body is warm against yours, the sound of his giggles buzzing in your ear like the happiest little melody.
Luffy is tasty. Luffy is yummy.
Luffy is the sun personified.
And right now, he’s all yours.

“Hold still.”
In your attempt to stabilize the young man’s face that keeps recoiling childishly further and further away from you the longer you apply antiseptic on the littered cuts and scrapes before they swell and get infected, you feel your frustration mounting, gripping his chin more firmly than you intended.
“Ow, ow, ow, ow!!!” Luffy yells and fidgets, but once your fingertips are posed on his skin, he stills, no longer pulling away. Just moments ago you’d think that every time you applied alcohol-soaked cotton it would sizzle upon contact with his skin with the way he was moving, and bite your lower lip in annoyance, but soon an image of what caused those injuries in the first place flashes back in your mind, and your approach softens quickly into empathy.
Luffy is strong and his pain tolerance is far higher than yours, so if he’s whining now, it’s because he feels safe enough to feel in your presence, and you should cherish that.
“I’m almost done, Luffy,” your voice comes out more compassionately, your hand sliding gently from the base of his visage, and trailing down his neck to rest on his shoulder. It’s unintentionally intimate, and there’s the softest tinge of pink that blooms under Luffy’s bruised up face as you lean in close. “Just give me a few more minutes, okay?”
He pauses, and his voice turns similarly gentle.
“Okay.”
The last place you work on is the developing shiner under his left eye, the one puffing up under his childhood scar. As you gently massage cooling ointment into his skin, his eyes close, his head tilting up as it melts into your touch.
He’s behaving. Giving himself to you.
“I’m done,” you whisper a few minutes later, and Luffy opens his eyes, deep brown irises warm with gratitude.
He beams.
“Thank you.”
Your cheeks warm for a moment, and in your constant need to emotionally self-regulate, you turn away from him quickly, busying your hands with the task of putting away your tray of first aid materials.
“You can thank me by thinking twice about getting into fights.”
It’s unfair, you know, as soon as it comes out, given that he needed to get his hat back one way or the other from Zephyr, but he quickly redirects you before you can apologize.
“Why would I do that when I have you to patch me up so nicely every time?” Luffy retorts with a grin. You turn to give him an exasperated look, but he’s moved from the location where you left him, faster than you could perceive, and is standing before you now just a little too close, enough to almost startle you.
Before you can take a step back, he’s gripped your chin the same way you did to him earlier, tilting it up towards him. It’s a show of dominance, but playful - as much as you tease and prod him and push him away, Luffy’s quick to show you that he has the upper hand always, easily.
“I’m making it Chopper’s job next time.” A threat you give him, without any teeth.
“Ah, that’s a bummer,” Luffy says, his grip spreading to pucker your lips. You know what he wants to do before he does it, his eyes and yours half-lidded before he kisses you, and the smell of pungent, herbal ointment fills your nostrils, quickly blunted by the sweet taste of his lips pressed against yours, his tongue seamlessly slipping into your mouth.
You kiss perhaps a little too long, your hands wrapping around his shoulders and his around your waist - you back together into a wall slowly, and still a little bit longer, you devour each other, relishing in the passing of bandaged and bruised hands over your skin.
He finally pulls away, grinning widely, satisfied with his work as you stand there, breathless and flustered.
“Well, I don’t think I can repay him like that.”
“Luffy!”
The smack you give him in the arm has him yelp and you immediately apologize, panicked that you broke something of his, but as you do so, he chuckles.
“Just kidding.”
You wonder if you should kick him for real but he mollifies you by taking your hand and kissing the unblemished knuckles.
“I’ll stop teasing you for a bit, promise,” he says to your dissatisfied pout.
You huff, but soon change the subject, as your fingers interlace and you leave the ship clinic hand in hand.

Can you PLEASE do more luffy head cannons? it can be NSFW or SFW anything would be fine but you don't need to if you don't want to!
Tumblr media
luffy is genuinely the sweetest boy you've ever met. he looks out for you, so much more than he does the other members, whether he realises it or not. he will always walk in front of you or beside you, holding your hand or wrapping an arm around your waist.
luffy loves to spend time with you! he's always by your side no matter the time of day or night. he is genuinely stuck to you by your hips. sometimes it might feel overwhelming or overbearing but he just adores spending every waking hour with you.
luffy does NOT share his food but with you, he doesn't mind. he even lets you take whatever you want from his plate and he just smiles and gives all of it to you — no matter how much you deny him.
luffy adores cuddling with you whenever and wherever he can. his hands will roam around every inch of you and he loves to squeeze your cushiony flesh. before going to sleep, he will either have his hands on your chest or your tummy — he just loves how soft they are!
luffy will always cease the opportunity to pick you up and throw you over his shoulders and just run around the deck with you in his hands. no matter how much you yell or protest, he doesn't listen and just keeps going, enjoying the little joyful screams you let out and how you pat on his butt.
luffy is very playful in bed, a moment never too serious. he giggles when you try to be 'sexy' and though it gets you embarrassed, he will immediately give you a kiss to your forehead to tell you that you don't need to try and act with him. just be yourself!
luffy has a huge oral fixation on your boobs. he will suckle on them and squish them in his hands, giving little kitten licks to your nipples. he thinks it's so cute how you whimper when he does so.
luffy is the biggest munch ever! he will eat you out any time of day — he truly thinks of it as his appetiser. he makes the obscene and exaggerated slurping sounds when he's down there, drinking in all of your sweet juices.
luffy loves to have you on top of him. he loves to see your boobs bouncing up and down and how you grab onto them while rubbing your nipples as you let out the prettiest of moans.
luffy is quite big on aftercare. he will clean you up and kiss you all over, saying you did so well and he had such a fun time. he will cradle you in his arms, letting you rest on his chest. he will softly whisper sweet-nothings to you and tell you how much he loves you ໒꒰ྀིっ˕ -。꒱ྀི১ ♡ !

The sun was high, the sea was calm, and there were absolutely no signs of trouble.
Which, on the Thousand Sunny, meant one thing:
Trouble was coming.
“LUFFY, NO—!!”
Too late. You watched in horror as Monkey D. Luffy, your idiot-slash-sweetheart captain, launched himself full-speed off the ship.
“THAT’S A HUGE DRUMSTICK!!”
He landed with a wet splat on what you now saw was not, in fact, a drumstick, but a massive, living, very not amused yellow blob.
A duck.
A giant duck. Towering, glistening, waddling angrily in the shallows.
It honked—a sound that felt more like a roar—and thrashed its wings wildly, trying to throw the rubbery parasite off its back.
Luffy clung to its neck like a child to a carnival ride, cackling madly. “SHISHISHSHI IT’S THE SIZE OF A WHOLE BANQUET!!”
You pinched the bridge of your nose. “This man has the survival instincts of a particularly reckless bread roll.”
You glanced at the rest of the crew.
Zoro was asleep.
Sanji was busy sculpting carrot roses for Robin.
Robin was reading, obviously not surprised.
Nami looked up from her map just long enough to yell, “Not it!”
Usopp and Chopper screamed something about curses and jumped into a barrel together.
Which left you.
Of course it did.
The duck, still honking its fury to the high heavens, stomped in circles while Luffy attempted to bite its side. You sprinted down the ramp and into the shallow surf.
“LUFFY, GET OFF THE DUCK!”
“I’M TRYING TO TASTE IT!”
“IT’S A SENTIENT CREATURE!”
“BUT IT LOOKS SO CRISPY—”
The duck, insulted on a deeply personal level, launched itself upward in one majestic leap and sent Luffy flying through the air like a flailing meat meteor. He landed beside you, face in the sand, limbs splayed in defeat.
“…Ow,” he mumbled.
You sighed and knelt beside him. “You good?”
He gave you a thumbs-up, still face-down. “YUP! SHISHISHI”
You helped brush sand off his hat as he sat up.
“Luffy,” you said, trying to be calm, “you can’t eat random animals just because they’re big and vaguely drumstick-shaped.”
“But look at it!” he whined, pointing. “It’s got those golden thighs! The rotisserie energy! The juicy potential!”
“It has a name, probably. A family. A job.”
He squinted. “Maybe it’s an orphan with a deep desire to fulfill its destiny as dinner.”
You blinked then laugh at this. “… pftt! did you just create a duck backstory to justify your cravings?”
“Yes!” he said proudly. “That’s called empathy I think! SHISHISHI”
You stared at him, completely deadpan. “You’re lucky you’re cute.”
He blinked. Then beamed. “You think I’m cute?”
“…That was supposed to stay in my head.”
“TOO LATE!” he yelled, springing to his feet and throwing his arms in the air like a victorious meat wrestler. “Y/N THINKS I’M CUUUUTE!!”
“Luffy!”
“I’M CUTE! I’M CUTE! EVEN CUTER THAN THE DUCK!
The duck, now perched like a war god on a rock, glared at him with pure malice.
You sighed. “We’re gonna be hunted by poultry assassins. I can feel it.”
Back on the Sunny, after Luffy was physically restrained from offering the duck “one little nibble,” peace was finally restored. The sun dipped low, painting the sky in soft golds and purples.
You sat on the deck’s edge, feet dangling over the sea. Luffy flopped beside you, hat tilted back, grin wide.
“Hey, Y/N,” he said suddenly.
You braced yourself. “If you ask me to cook duck—”
“No, no,” he chuckled. “I was gonna say... I like when you laugh.”
You turned to him, surprised.
He was watching you. Not in the usual Luffy way — not like when he spotted meat across the room, or stared down an enemy. This was the kind of look that made your chest feel warm and your brain do a little somersault.
“Earlier,” he said, “you laughed when I said something about empathy”
“Thats not... I was mocking you!,” you replied. “I thought I was about to watch you get pecked into a new time zone.”
“But you still laughed,” he said, all sunny and smug. “You always do.”
“That’s because you’re ridiculous.”
“You like it,” he teased, nudging your shoulder.
You bit back a smile. “I tolerate it. Barely.”
He tilted his head, expression soft. “Zoro said it’s obvious.”
“…You talked to Zoro about me?”
“I asked if I could kiss you,” Luffy said bluntly. “He said ask you, not him.”
Your brain fizzled. “Wait. What—”
“So,” Luffy continued, turning fully to face you with that open, earnest joy you’d come to adore, “can I?”
“Can you what?”
“Kiss you,” he said like it was the most natural thing in the world.
Your breath caught. This was the same boy who just tried to eat a duck like it was a buffet item. Who once got stuck inside a vending machine trying to retrieve a stuck candy bar. Who sometimes forgot his shoes and didn’t notice for an hour.
And yet.
Your heart fluttered like it hadn’t gotten the memo about logic.
“…Yes,” you said, quiet.
His face lit up like a festival. “Yeah?!”
You nodded.
He scooted close—awkwardly but gently—and cupped your cheek, his hand warm and calloused. The kiss was clumsy, sweet, quick. His nose bumped yours, and when he pulled away, he had that stupidly big grin that made your stomach flip.
“WHOA,” he whispered.
“Yeah,” you whispered back.
He leaned back on his hands, practically glowing. “Gonna tell Zoro it worked!”
“LUFFY—NO—!”
Too late.
“ZORO!! I KISSED Y/N!! AND THEY SAID YES!! YOU WERE RIGHT!!”
You groaned and dropped your head into your hands as Zoro’s muffled “I don’t care!” echoed from the crow’s nest.
Sanji’s head whipped up from the kitchen door, his cigarette dangling dangerously.
“WHAT?!”
Luffy turned mid-skip. “I kissed Y/N!”
Sanji's eye twitched. “I leave you alone for ONE romantic sunset and you SNEAK AHEAD?!”
You, now partially hiding behind the mast, groaned. “Oh no.”
“Luffy, you absolute—! That was supposed to be MY kiss! I was going to bring you a fruit parfait! HOW DARE YOU KISS MY Y/N~CHWANNNNN!”
Luffy skipped back to you, unbothered and beaming. “Wanna kiss again?”
You peeked through your fingers. “If you promise not to announce it like a seagull with a megaphone.”
He nodded. “Fineee!. But I will write it in my logbook shishishi.”
“…You have a logbook?!”
“It’s mostly meat sketches and battle doodles. But now it has you.”
And your heart, traitor that it was, somersaulted again.
You sighed. “Fine. Just… no more trying to eat ducks.”
He tilted his head. “What if it asks nicely?”
You groaned, flopping back dramatically.
And somewhere in the distance, a vengeful honk echoed over the sea.

1. apples and appeals
「 act one 」
「 go back to start? 」 — 「 go forward? 」
Tumblr media
luffy likes to eat.
no, he loves to eat. food is tasty and this is perfect to for him. flavors are good. they burst in your mouth and overwhelm you with happiness. eating is the solution to the world's problems. eat and take a nap.
he likes to nap too. but he likes to eat more.
he doesn't like fruits much. or even vegetables if he is to be honest. and he is honest enough to share that fact with everyone.
but apples? they aren't too bad to him.
———––————––——–———–——–——–———
"shoo!" she yelps as she took an apple out from her basket to throw it on the growling dog in front of her. "dad.." she gulps as her hands trembled.
the dog was a small brown mangy mass. it snarled as it crept closer. she yelled as she threw one of her precious apples (the ones her grandma told her to buy from the market) at the dog. it did not land on the head. it landed near the paws of it. it bent to sniff at the object, momentarily bringing her relief.
the dog bared its teeth. (she doesn't think dogs like apples anyway, she is not stupid)
the dog lunged. she got scared and closed her eyes, forgetting the basket, she used her hands to cover her eyes. the basket fell to the ground, and the apples inside spilled everywhere.
thud
(that was not the sound of a bite. or even her screaming)
"ow.." it was a voice of a boy. she slowly opened her eyes and looked from the gaps of her fingers. "it bit me!" he huffed as the dog ran off in the alleyway near.
"but it's fine! i'm rubber so it's fine." he grinned as he looked at her. "what?" she muttered, confused and shaking.
"rubber!" he repeated in full confidence, and loudly. (he thought she didn't hear him) but that did not solve her confusion nor he decided to elaborate. she let it go.
"thanks.." she mutters as she bends down on her knees, collecting her apples in her basket.
one apple in the basket;
"are you new here?" he picked up the apple she first threw at the dog.
"no i'm visiting my grandma.." she bites the inside of her cheeks.
second apple in the basket;
she glances at him from the side. he looks like he wants to say something. he does not. she looks down at the basket and sighs picking up the third apple.
third apple in the basket;
"where's your grandma?"
"home."
"where?"
"here."
"is it close?"
"uh.. yeah.."
fourth apple in the basket;
"uhm thank you.. what's your name?" she looks at the boy in his eyes.
"luffy." he replies too quickly.
she bites the inside of her lips and tells him her own name. (she thinks his name sounds like a dog's name)
fifth apple in the basket;
"so—"
"urmm..."
they talk at the same time.
sixth apple in his hand;
"here." he shoves his hand to her, giving her the apple. she takes it and instead of putting it back to her basket she dusts it off with her sleeve. she gives it back to him.
"you can keep it. as a thank you." she smiles at him.
———––————––——–———–——–——–––––
luffy chomps on the apple given to him.
apples are nice. even if they were licked by a dog or thrown to dirt just before.
apples are good and they are red. just like his favorite color.
out of all the apples in his village, he likes this apple more.

may I request another Luffy x fem reader please. Where Luffy is always picking up y/n like anywhere and everywhere they go (they aren’t dating or anything yet either) and he’s just always carrying her. Maybe even one day she’s wearing a skirt and so she freaks out when Luffy goes to grab her but Luffy holds her skirt down while carrying her. I don’t know I feel like it would be cute. Thank you!

“Y/N! Let’s go!”
You barely turn around before Luffy swoops in and lifts you off the ground like you weigh nothing.
“Luffy! I can walk, you know!” you squawk, flailing a little as he plops you onto his back.
“But this is faster” he grins, arms hooked under your thighs like it’s second nature.
You’re used to it. Kind of.
Everywhere the Straw Hats go, it’s the same thing. Town visit? Pick-up. Battle? Pick-up. Beach walk? Pick-up. You’ve lost count how many times he’s carried you.
“Oi, Luffy, you treating her like your personal backpack again?” Zoro calls out, amused.
“She is more comfortable than my backpack” Luffy says proudly.
“I am not a backpack” you mutter, crossing your arms from behind him.
But you don’t jump down. Luffy’s warm. His back is strong and steady. Plus…he hums when he walks, and it’s kind of nice.
Later that day, Nami wants to shop in the market square, so you tag along. You’re wearing a cute skirt, just something light and breezy. Totally forgot that Luffy might be Luffy.
You hear his steps behind you.
You turn slowly “Luffy, don’t you dare.”
“What?” he blinks.
“No pick-ups! I’m in a skirt!”
“Skirt?” he repeats, glancing down.
“Yes. Skirt. No pick-ups. Bad idea.” You point a finger at him.
He tilts his head like you just told him food is illegal “But I always carry you.”
You groan “Not today. Please.”
He frowns “…Okay.”
You’re shocked. He listens?
“Thank you—AH!”
Too late. Arms wrap around you, lifting you straight off the ground.
“LUFFY!”
“Don’t worry!” he says, grinning as you flail.
Then his hand tugs your skirt down, carefully holding it in place as he walks.
You freeze “…Did you just—?”
“Yeah,” he says simply “You said skirt.”
“…And you still picked me up.”
“Yup!”
You sigh, but your cheeks are hot. Luffy, meanwhile, just hums again like it’s the most normal thing ever.
“Next time, I’m wearing pants...” you mutter.
It’s been three days since the “skirt incident”.
You thought maybe Luffy would chill after that. Stop treating you like some kind of travel-sized accessory.
But no. You hear him before you see him.
“Y/N!”
You turn around, already tensing “Don’t you—”
Too late. He’s already in front of you. But this time, he doesn’t throw you over his shoulder or anything like that.
Nope.
He scoops you up. Like a princess.
Both arms under your back and knees. Smooth, gentle.
Your heart leaps into your throat.
“W-What the hell is this now?!”
“You said skirts were hard,” Luffy shrugs, totally calm “So I’m trying something new!”
“You can also not carry me at all! That’s also an option!”
He just blinks at you “But I like carrying you.”
Your face heats up. You glance around, Sanji’s dropped a tray, Robin’s smirking, and Usopp’s whispering something to Chopper.
“This is so embarrassing!” you hiss, curling a little into his chest.
Luffy just laughs “Why? You look cute like this.”
You go still “…What did you say?”
“Huh?”
“What did you just say?”
He tilts his head “You look cute like this. Why? Did I say it wrong?”
“No! I mean—yes! I mean—ugh!”
You bury your face in your hands as Luffy keeps walking down the Sunny like nothing’s weird.
“Nami’s gonna kill you” you mumble.
“She’ll get over it” he grins.
“I won’t.”
“Yes, you will.”
You kind of…do.
His arms are warm. He doesn’t drop you. He even adjusts his grip so your skirt stays down and your hair doesn’t blow in your face.
He’s just…too good at this.
You peek up at him “Luffy?”
“Yeah?”
“…You really like carrying me, huh?”
He grins wide “Yup.”
“…Why?”
He shrugs “Feels right.”
Your heart skips.
Stupid pirate...
Tumblr media
Sunny is docked at a lively island. Music, food, games... perfect for a break. The whole crew splits up, scattering into the crowd like kids at a festival.
You’re with Sanji, trying a fried octopus ball he insists is “the best in the world”.
“Open up, mademoiselle~” Sanji offers you one with a big, cheesy grin.
You laugh and lean forward, just as—
“Oi.”
Luffy’s voice cuts in sharp and sudden.
You look over your shoulder, mouth full “Mmm?”
Luffy’s standing there, arms crossed. His usual smile is gone. That’s rare. Really rare.
Sanji raises an eyebrow “What’s up, Luffy?”
Luffy doesn’t answer. He just walks over, grabs your hand and picks you up.
Again. Princess style.
“LUFFY!” you yelp “What are you—?!”
“No more feeding her.” he says, glaring at Sanji like he just kicked Chopper.
Sanji sighs dramatically, flicking his cigarette “Jealousy doesn’t suit you... Captain.”
“I’m not jealous,” Luffy lies, squeezing you a little tighter “She’s mine.”
Your brain short-circuits.
“Yours?!” you squeak.
Luffy frowns “Yeah. I mean—not like mine-mine. But like—she’s my crewmate. I always carry her. You don’t get to feed her.”
Sanji puts a hand to his chest “How romantic.”
“Shut up” Luffy grumbles.
Your heart is pounding so loud you swear Sanji can hear it.
“Luffy, you really didn’t need to—”
“Didn’t like it...” he mumbles.
“What?”
“You laughing with him. Eating with him. That’s supposed to be with me.”
You stare at him, stunned “…You really are jealous.”
He scowls at the sky “I said I’m not!”
Then he stomps off with you still in his arms.
“Luffy, where are we going?!”
“Somewhere with no cooks.”
You’re now sitting on a quiet hill, eating takoyaki with your fingers while Luffy sits beside you, pouting.
“…So,” you say after a while, “do you only carry people you’re jealous over?”
“No,” he mutters “Just you.”
“…Why me?”
He doesn’t look at you “Feels right.”
You smile a little. Same answer. But it’s starting to feel like it means something more.
The sun’s almost down by the time you both make it back to the Sunny.
Luffy’s still quiet. Not sulking, just…thinking. You don’t see that often. He scratches his cheek, eyes on the sky, lips pressed in a line.
You’re walking this time. He hasn’t picked you up again.
And somehow, that feels weirder.
You glance at him “You’re not gonna carry me?”
He stops walking. Looks at you. Then shrugs “Didn’t know if you wanted me to.”
You blink “You’ve been doing it for months without asking.”
He tilts his head “Yeah, but… I didn’t know it made your heart beat fast until today.”
Your breath catches “Huh?”
“You always get all red,” he says, frowning slightly “I thought maybe you didn’t like it. But then Sanji made you laugh, and you got all red then, too. So now I’m not sure.”
You stare at him “Luffy… you noticed all that?”
He nods “I notice you.”
Your chest tightens.
He rubs the back of his neck “I didn’t mean to get weird about Sanji. I just… I like carrying you. Being close to you. Makes me happy.”
“…Even before all this? Before the skirt? The market? All of it?”
“Yeah,” he says, looking right at you “Since the first time.”
You step closer, eyes searching his “Why didn’t you say anything?”
“I don’t know,” he says “Didn’t know what to call it. Just knew it felt right.”
You smile, heart thudding so loud now you know he hears it.
“So… what now?”
He grins slowly “Now I pick you up.”
You laugh “Right now?!”
“Yup.”
And just like always, you’re in the air, arms around his neck, legs cradled in his hold. But this time, his face is closer. Slower.
This time, he leans in.
His forehead rests against yours “Is this okay?”
You nod, cheeks burning “Yeah. It is.”
And then, finally, finally, he kisses you.
It’s soft. Just a brush. But it’s everything.
Luffy pulls back, still holding you like treasure.
“I’m gonna carry you everywhere now” he says.
You smile “You already do.”
You try to sneak back onto the Sunny quietly. You really try.
But Luffy is still carrying you. Princess style. Smiling like he just found a whole island made of meat. And your lips are pink, your hair’s a little messy, and you’re trying not to look like you were just kissed by the future Pirate King.
It doesn’t work.
Sanji spots you first “Mon dieu…” he gasps dramatically, hand over his chest “He kissed you, didn’t he?!”
“Shhh!” you hiss, trying to wiggle out of Luffy’s arms.
He doesn’t let go “Why? We’re dating now, right?”
You freeze “…We are?”
He nods “Yeah. That’s what kissing means.”
Zoro walks by, towel around his neck “Took you long enough.”
You blink “Wait—you knew?”
He snorts “Captain’s been carrying you like a newlywed for weeks. We all knew.”
Usopp pops his head out of the kitchen “I bet Chopper three berries you’d kiss by today! I won!”
Chopper stomps out after him “You cheated! You saw them holding hands earlier!”
Franky grins from above deck “This is SUPER romantic!”
Brook twirls his cane “May I write a song about this moment? Love On the Deck of Sunny?”
Nami appears last. Arms crossed. Eyebrow raised.
“So. Are you two gonna stop being weird now, or is the kissing gonna happen everywhere?”
Luffy grins “Everywhere.”
You slap a hand over your face “Luffy—”
“What? I like you,” he shrugs “I’m proud.”
Nami sighs “Great. The captain’s in love. We’re doomed.”
But there’s a soft smile tugging at her lips.
Robin, reading nearby, chuckles “Let them be. It’s cute.”
You finally give up and just hide your red face in Luffy’s shoulder. He laughs and holds you tighter.
The crew carries on bickering, teasing, laughing like always.
Only now… you’re his. And he’s yours. And he still carries you everywhere.
And yeah... It still feels right.

Could you write monster trio hcs with an s/o who is completely oblivious to their flirting?
Obvs u don't have to write this if u don't wanna! :]
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairings: monster trio x female reader
cw: luffy doesn't really flirt (I don't know how luffy would be flirting I'm sorry), not proofread , probably contains grammar mistakes, english isn't my first language!!
— (a/n): okay so like... I kind of got carried away and didn't really stay with the request and I just realized it now that i'm done writing :(( it just doesn't feel right, I mean, they're not really flirting... it's more like, indirect flirting, you know?? i'm veryyy sorry!!! :(( -> m.list
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
— LUFFY
Luffy doesn't even understand the concept of flirting, he simply doesn't know how to flirt. He just does things that feel right, like holding your hand all the time or hugging you randomly.
He CONSTANTLY invades your personal space, leaning in way too close when he talks, but you just assume he's always like that (which, in a way, is true).
Luffy will offer you food, which is a huge deal, but you just think he's being generous and thank him without reading into it.
He calls you "his favourite person" or "his girl", but you just assume it's meant to be platonically.
He'll grab your hand and swing it while walking, and when you ask why he simply shrugs. "Dunno, feels right!"
If another guy talks to you, Luffy pouts and clings to you, but you just think he's being his usual affectionate self.
If you ever find yourself in danger, Luffy's protective instincts go overdrive. However, he doesn't exactly know how to express it in a way that makes sense.
He gives you his hat when it's sunny, grinning at you joyfully, like it's a big deal. And then you're just like "Aw, thanks!" And you don't understand why he looks so disappointed (╥﹏╥)
Luffy likes sitting next to you during meals, pressing his leg against yours. But you just pull away since you think he just needs more room.
He LITERALLY tells you "I like you a lot!" And you're just like "I like you too!" And ruffle his hair.
He tells you that he'll protect you forever, with the most serious expression ever, and you'll just assume he's being a good captain.
Whenever you hug him, he picks you up and spins you around, grinning like an idiot.
He trusts you with his hat. Like, he trusts you. He lets you wear it all the time, because he knows you'll take care of it. Heck, he's the one placing it on your head! You don't really think much of it, though.
Eventually, Luffy gets frustrated and just blurts out "I wanna be your boyfriend!" And waits for you to finally get it.
———☆
Luffy had been looking for you all morning, walking around the ship, asking everyone where you were. When he finally spotted you on the deck, sitting with Usopp, he rushed over excitedly. He felt his chest tighten whenever he saw you talking with anybody else, but he always brushed it off.
"[Y/N]! I need you!" Luffy grinned, grabbing your hand and pulling you away from Usopp's conversation.
"What's wrong?" You asked, chuckling a bit at his sudden enthusiasm.
"I just wanted to talk to you! You always hang out with everyone else, but you never hang out with me!" Luffy pouted, pulling you along toward the bow of the ship. He threw himself down on the ground dramatically, patting the spot next to him. "Come, sit with me!"
You raised an eyebrow, a bit amused as you leaned over him. "Are you really this clingy all the time?" You teased, a smile tugging at your lips.
"Yeah!" Luffy exclaimed with a wide grin, nudging you to sit next to him. As soon as you sat down, he immediately leaned against you, resting his head on your shoulder. "I just like being close to you. You're my favorite person!"
You smiled and ruffled his hair, thinking he was being his usual goofy self. "You're my favourite person too." You replied, smile widening a bit. "You're a great captain."
He grinned, but then he got serious, standing up straight, staring at you. "No, no, I mean... I like you! I really like you!" He repeated, a little louder this time, a faint pink decorating his cheeks.
You blinked at him, not quite processing it. "Aw, that's sweet! I really like you too."
Luffy just whined, burying his face in his hands as he quietly mumbled something under his breath. You just laughed, patting him on the back as he continued whining. "I think you need a nap, Luffy!"
— ZORO
Zoro isn't the best with words, so his flirting is more about physical gestures, like carrying your things and such.
He always makes sure to sit next to you, no matter where you are, but you just assume it's a coincidence.
He trains shirtless around you more than necessary, subtly flexing, but you never seem to notice.
Speaking of training, he helps you train, standing behind you to correct your form, giving you advice.
I already said he's not the best with words, but he has a tendency to compliment you, although not directly. He might praise your abilities in a fight. You don't really think twice about it, but to Zoro, it's his own form of adoration for you.
He always glares at Sanji when he's flirting with you, but you just think they're bickering as usual.
If another man shows interest in you, Zoro's natural reaction is to stare them down with a glare. You'll never notice his intense gaze, because you think that he's just annoyed by something unrelated.
If you ask for help reaching something, he doesn't just simply hand it to you. He lifts you up effortlessly, just as an excuse to feel you in his arms.
If you're tired, he'll literally carry you to the girl's room. You just think he's being a good friend, as if he does it for everyone else (he doesn't).
He loves it when you nap near him during his training, he just likes your presence. You always think it's just because he's comfortable around you.
If you get hurt, he's the first to scold you. "Be more careful." He's the one patching you up, not letting Chopper get near you (unless it's a serious injury).
Zoro's way of showing affection is through silent protection. You'll never notice that he's doing it for you specifically, and he won't say anything to make it obvious.
He also kind of teases you playfully, as a form of affection. He'll make fun of you when you do something silly, but he's never too mean about it.
He gets SUPER protective in battle, always watching your back. He can't bring himself to look at you badly wounded.
Literally EVERYONE notices how protective he is of you, but somehow you never do. Even strangers think so.
Like I've said before, he finds excuses to touch you. For example, gently guiding you through crowds by the small of your back.
He also somehow always catches you when you trip. Right before you hit the ground, he's there, arms wrapped around you and helping you stand back on your feet.
Eventually, he just grabs your face one day and says something like "Damn it, I like you. Get it now?"
———☆
You were standing near the railing, gazing out at the ocean, watching the sunset, completely lost in your thoughts. That was, until you heard heavy footsteps approaching behind you.
"You've been standing there forever. You lost or something?" Zoro's voice came from beside you, his usual gruff voice a little softer.
You glanced at him as a smile tugged at your lips. "Nah, just thinking. The ocean looks really pretty right now."
Zoro leaned against the railing next to you, arms crossed over his chest. He wasn't exactly great at this whole flirting thing, but if Sanji could do it, how hard could it be? He decided to go for something subtle. Something cool.
"Yeah, well..." He muttered, his gaze lingering on you a second too long. "It's not the only thing that looks pretty around here."
You turned to him, blinking in confusion. "Oh yeah! The ship looks great in this lighting too." You smiled as you took a look around, completely missing the way Zoro's expression dropped.
He sighed, shaking his head slightly before he tried again. "That's... Not what I meant."
You furrowed your brows in confusion. "Oh, you meant the sunset, huh? Yeah. It's really nice."
Zoro stared at you for a long moment, his lips parting slightly, trying to process how this was going so terribly wrong. He tried again, this time leaning just a little closer, lowering his voice. "I was talking about you, idiot."
You blinked at him, slightly tilting your head to the side. "Me?"
Zoro nodded, waiting, praying for the realization to hit you already.
"Ohhh." You finally broke the silence, and for a moment, his heart skipped a beat.
"That's really sweet, Zoro! You think I look nice too?" You chuckled, as if he had just complimented your outfit instead of attempting to flirt with you.
Zoro groaned, running a hand down his face. "Yeah, sure, that's what I meant..." He mumbled, admitting defeat.
You gave him a friendly pat on the back. "You're getting a lot nicer, you know that? I think hanging around me is softening you up."
He let out a quiet scoff, turning his gaze back to the sea. "Or maybe I'm just like that with you."
"Huh?"
"Nothing."
— SANJI
Sanji is the king of exaggerated compliments. Every time he looks at you, it's as if he's seeing the most beautiful person in the world. "My darling, the moon is jealous of your beauty tonight." is a pretty common line from him, but you just think it's his usual behavior.
He constantly tries to impress you with his cooking. He'll make your favourite dish and serve it with grace, and when you compliment the food, he blushes as if you're complimenting him. You thank him every time, but in your mind, it's just good manners.
He will find any excuse to help you with something, even if it's small, like picking up something you dropped. And the moment you thank him for it he's like "Anything for you my lovely lady!" You just smile and move on because he does that with pretty much every woman.
Sanji's always the first one to offer you his jacket when it gets cold. Sometimes, when he gets brave, he wraps it around your shoulders and makes sure to linger closer to you for just a little longer.
He has a soft spot for you when you're sad, and he'll stop whatever he's doing to comfort you. He'll hold your hand, stroke your hair and whisper sweet nothings. You just assume it's because he's a gentleman, not because he's crushing on you hard.
Sanji can be pretty possessive, especially when another guy is even slightly flirting with you. You'll catch him glaring, and if anyone so much as dares to brush against your arm, he'll throw a fit. That person might get a foot to the face, but who knows!!
Whenever you compliment his cooking or his fighting skills, he gets way more flustered than with anyone else. His eyes will turn into hearts, and he'll literally swoon.
Sanji often stares at you with wide starry eyes but when you catch him, he'll just say something like "Oh, nothing! Just admiring my beautiful angel." You think he's being his usual self or just lost in thought.
He makes a huge deal out of holding the door for you, pulling your chair at dinner and guiding you with his arm. But you think it's just because he's being polite. He tries to take your hand as he walks you around, but you just think he's offering help, never suspecting that he's being a little more than just polite.
After all his dramatic declarations of love, he finally cracks. One evening, while you're standing by the railing, he walks up to you and throws himself down at your feet. "I cannot live without you! You're my everything, and I need you to understand that!"
———☆
Sanji had been watching you all day. When you first arrived and joined the crew, he had already been swooning, but now, after spending this much time with you, he was completely smitten. He had made your favourite dessert just for you, and now he was patiently waiting for you to notice.
You peacefully sat on the deck, reading a book, when Sanji rushed over, holding a plate of freshly made pastries. "Ah, my darling! I've made these just for you!" He smiled, leaning down with a hand on his chest in a dramatic bow. "Only the finest for my beautiful lady."
You looked up from your book, a little surprised. "Oh, Sanji! Thank you so much! You really didn't have to, but I appreciate it!"
Sanji's heart skipped a bit as you reached for one of the pastries, giving him a sweet smile. "Anything for you, my love." He muttered, but his voice came out softer, almost like a whisper. He was looking at you like you were the only person in the world. He pressed a hand to his heart, praying you couldn't hear how loud it was beating.
You giggled, thinking nothing of it as you took a bite from the pastry. "This is so good! I don't think I've said this enough, but you're really talented."
He blinked, and his face turned pink, clearly flustered by the compliment. "I only make the best for you, [Y/N]." He replied, his voice shaking just slightly. He leaned in a little closer, almost as if hoping you'd get the hint. "You deserve nothing less."
You looked up, gazing at him, smiling warmly. "Thank you, Sanji. I appreciate it..."
He sighed dramatically and placed a hand to his forehead. "Oh, my sweet [Y/N], how I adore you..." His voice trailed off as he stared into the distance.
"You okay?" You tilted your head, genuinely concerned. But once again, completely oblivious to how he was really feeling.
He slumped forward onto the table, groaning in agony. "I don't think I can take it anymore..." He mumbled under his breath, barely audible. "Why can't you see how I feel?!"

Meet My Wife
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
IMAGINE: MEET MY WIFE~ LUFFY X F!READER GENRE: FLUFF warnings: f!reader implied. not proof read. slight cursing ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Luffy seemed more excited than usual. I mean, he’s always bouncing off the wall. But it was like he was expecting something and he couldn’t wait for it.
“What do you think he’s excited about?” Chopper asks Nami.” She just sighs and waves her hand around, “knowing him. He’s probably excited about food.”
Little did they know, they were about to be in a world of shock.
Luffy did not waste a single second jumping off the boat as soon as it docked. He continued to run straight into town, like he knew exactly where he was going.
The rest of the crew just watched him, some in confusion and some of them looked exhausted. Sanji sighs, taking a deep breath of his cigarette. “He’s most likely going to cause trouble.” Nami sighs, already feeling a headache form because of her idiot captain.
However, it wasn’t food or a new adventure that got him this excited. No, it was someone who was very important to him. He remembered the instructions very clearly. He couldn’t forget it. Just follow the path, there are going to be white flowers along the path. It should lead all the way down to a small house with flowers and different plants all around the place.
His eyes grew wide seeing the variety of plants and flowers, knowing that you had planted these yourself. The door opens and a large smile covers his face.
“(y/n)!” He shouts, grabbing your attention. He ran at you, full force and it looked like he wasn’t going to stop. You drop the empty basket you were carrying, fully prepared for him to throw himself onto you.
And you were right. His body crashes into you. His arms and legs wrapping around you, and he nuzzles his face into your cheek. The first thing he notices is how soft your skin feels against him. The second thing he notices is how sweet you smell. You smelled like fresh laundry, but with a hint of something sweet, like you were just baking.
“Luffy.” You softly say with a smile on your face. “I didn’t know you were going to be here so soon… I missed you.” You whisper the last part. “I missed you too.” Lufffy pulls back, letting you go a bit. “Are you making something?” He asks.
You nod your head, “yes. It’s actually almost done. Would you like to try some?” He immediately nods his head yes and you laugh. “I don’t know why I asked. Of course you would. Come inside.”
He completely lets you go now, and you pick up the empty basket heading back inside.
The sweet scent is stronger and Luffy basically salivates at the smell. You grab a cloth, pulling out the fresh strawberries and cream croissants. There were only a few, since you weren’t expecting company.
“Careful, they’re hot.” You say but he doesn’t care. He’s already stuffing his mouth with a croissant.
His eyes widen and there’s a smile on his face. “They're so good!” He says while grabbing another one. You laugh, “wait. Save one for me.” You grab the last one, taking a bite of it. You were glad how good they came out.
Once he scarfs down the second croissant, he looks at you and clears his throat. “You should meet my crew!” He says like it was another Tuesday.
Your eyes widen. “Really?” You ask and he nods his head. “Of course!” You suddenly got nervous and wondered what his crew was like. They had to be nice, right? Luffy only accepted the best of the best. So what would they think of you?
“Like right now?”
Luffy stands up, “yeah!” He grabs onto your arm and drags you out of the small house.
“W-wait! Wait! Let me at least clean myself up.” You try to tell him but it falls upon deaf ears.
You were now leaving your property, and Luffy must've thought you were moving too slow because he suddenly picks you up bridal style. His arms securely wrapped underneath your legs and the other one supporting your back.
You let out a small gasp, surprised at the action. It had you a bit flustered as he ran back to what you could assume was his ship.
He was running for about five minutes until the both of you arrived at the port. Multiple ships lined up on the dock, but there was one that stood out to you. A ship with a sheep head. It was… cute.
You could see people walking on the ship, minding their own business. Until they spot their captain holding some girl.
The redhead girl gasps, gaining the attention of the other crewmates.
“Holy shit, Luffy! Did you kidnap someone?!” Nami shouts, a bit horrified.
Luffy just laughs as he jumps onto the ship, causing you to let out a short yelp at the unexpected height change.
“No,” Luffy laughs while placing you down, “I want you to meet my wife.” He announces causing everyone on the ship to gasp. Your eyes widened and your cheeks warmed up at his announcement. There was no way he still thinks that the wedding was real…
“What?!” A blonde male shrieks, “you’re telling me that this idiot right here is actually married.” “Yup!” Luffy says with a proud smile on his face and his fists on his hips. “No, I don’t believe it.” Another male says while shaking his head.
“Well believe it. We kissed and everything. It was official.” He says, causing you to cover your face in embarrassment. You had no idea that Luffy was going to introduce you like this.
The blonde male cries out, shouting how unfair the universe was.
“(y/n).” Luffy says while grabbing onto your wrist. He pulls you forward, “I want you to meet my crew!”
He points at the blonde, “that’s Sanji, our cook.” He then points at the woman, “Nami, our navigator.” He then points at the curly headed man, “Usopp, aaaaand,” he points at the sleeping man with green hair, “Zoro.”
“Everyone, this is (y/n). My wife!” He pulls you again. This time you were pressed up against him. You honestly felt like you were on fire.
You wondered how strange this must've looked for them. And you honestly wanted to clear things up.
“B-but Luffy.” You whisper, gaining his attention. “We got married as kids. Kids, Lu.” You emphasize the words kid, hoping that he would get the hint.
“Oh, yeah.” He says like he almost forgot something important, “I have these.” He pulls out two rings. The same poorly made rings that were made as kids.
You grab one of the rings, feeling the familiar flutter in your heart. Luffy smiles, “I think they’re too small now. But that’s okay. We can make new ones.”
A blush dusts your cheeks. It was really sweet that he still considers you his wife. “Yeah… that actually sounds really nice.”
“Shishishi, I knew you would like that.”
Well... maybe things didn't have to be cleared up right away. Let the crew think the strange things.

You get hurt and don't tell them' ft. luffy, zoro, sanji
wc: 310 law, ace, sabo shanks, kid, killer crocodil, mihawk, buggy
Tumblr media
Monkey D. Luffy
- Luffy isn’t the type to notice subtle things, but he does notice when you’re unusually quiet or less energetic.
-When he finds out you got hurt and didn’t tell him, he gets comically upset, puffing his cheeks and yelling, “Why didn’t you tell me?!”
-He insists on you showing him the injury, poking at it curiously (but gently, after you yell at him).
-Luffy then goes full protective mode, staying by your side and making sure you rest properly.
“You don’t have to be tough all the time! That’s my job!” he says with a big grin, pulling you into a tight hug despite your protests about being sore.
Tumblr media
Roronoa Zoro
-Zoro is naturally observant when it comes to physical injuries, so it annoys him when he finds out you hid it from him.
-He scolds you in his usual gruff manner: “You’re not made of steel, you know. Stop being reckless.”
-Once he cools off, he quietly makes sure you’re taken care of—he’ll carry you around if needed and might even give you his sake as a peace offering.
-If anyone else caused your injury, they’re going to regret it. Badly.
-Zoro doesn’t say it outright, but he appreciates it when you let him look after you. “Don’t hide stuff from me, idiot,” he mutters while keeping you close.
Tumblr media
Sanji
-Sanji immediately notices something is off when you’re hurt, even if you try to hide it. He’s far too attentive.
“You’re walking funny… Did you hurt yourself? Why didn’t you tell me?!” His worry makes him more dramatic than usual.
-Sanji instantly goes into caretaker mode, whipping up meals to help you recover and fussing over you like a doting parent.
-He’s constantly asking if you need anything: “Do you want tea? A blanket? A massage? Just say the word, my love!”
-While his concern might be a bit overbearing, it’s clear how much he cares, especially when he kisses your injury gently and promises to protect you better.

Cuddling - Part 1
Summary: How do they cuddle you?
Characters: Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, Ace, Sabo, Law, Kid
Genre: Fluff
CW: None // SFW
———
Luffy:
He’s more of a koala bear than a literal koala bear. He doesn’t even realize cuddling is a thing because it’s so normal to him, like eating and breathing. You’ve literally never slept in the same bed with him without him wrapping himself around you (neither has anyone else, for that matter). He even gets a little grumpy if you’re not there for him to hold on to.
Zoro:
It’s not called cuddling, that’s for sure. He might refer to holding you, but that’s about it. One of his guilty pleasures, though, is being held by you. He especially likes it when you sit behind him and wrap both your arms and legs around him, bonus points if you run your hands up and down his chest and abdomen.
Sanji:
A total cuddle bug. He usually comes to bed after you (though not so late that you’re already asleep), and likes to slip between your legs while you’re sitting up against the pillows. Bonus points if you rub his back or smooth his hair. He’s also one for quick daytime snuggles, often coming up behind you and wrapping his arms around you for a long hug.
Ace:
He grabs hold of you easily, but he doesn’t let go easily. If he falls asleep, you’ll be stuck by his side until he wakes up because he holds on to you so tight. He’s clingy, but not in a little spoon kind of way, more of a ‘I’m going to put you where I want you’ kind of way. It puts him at ease to keep you so close because he feels your a little safer that way.
Sabo:
He’s so sweet about it. He holds you like a baby every time you two have any privacy, encouraging you to wrap not only your arms but also your legs around him. He sort of pretends it’s to put you at ease and make you feel safe, but the weight and warmth of your body makes him feel safe and, in particular, makes him feel capable and dependable.
Law:
If you call him the little spoon, he’ll break up with you, but he is often the little spoon. He gets annoyed when you don’t automatically wrap your arms around him in bed because he doesn’t want to embarrass himself by asking. One of his favorite things in the world is falling asleep with his head in your lap while you play with his hair.
Kid:
Not so much cuddling as it is him collapsing on top of you. If you manage to fall asleep without him on top of you, you’ll wake up either with him on top of you or to him yanking you into his arms to hold you against his chest while he’s still asleep. Treats you like his teddy bear, hangs on to you extra tight when he’s stressed.

Why would I be jealous?
Monkey D. Luffy x Wife!Reader
Summary: a prompt provided by @matronofthevoid. Times when others expect Luffy to be jealous, versus times Luffy was actually jealous.
Part VIII
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Hey you’re gorgeous!” The drunkard slurred, hiccuping as he places a heavy hand on your shoulder.
You were two seconds away from committing unspeakable acts of violence but you recognise the man is barely coherent. So instead, you only sigh and wave him off.
The drunkard slouches sadly at your wordless rejection and begins to stumble off back to his table of friends who continue to hoot and holler.
Luffy continues to swallow clumps of food by the fistful - not taking any notice of the hoards of men that have approached you, Nami or Robin this whole evening; all whilst Sanji can’t stop watching the girls like a hawk. “This is unbelievable, how can you call yourself Y/n’s husband when you don’t even notice these filthy savages laying their dirty hands on your wife.” Sanji scolds his captain who’s finally paused from stuffing his face to swallow the lump of food stuck in his throat.
“Huh? What the heck are you talking about?” Luffy huffs- annoyed Sanji is interrupted his delectable feast.
“How can you not get jealous?! I would be driven insane if I saw anyone even glanced at my wife’s direction.” Sanji declares which makes Luffy’s eyes shoot out of his head.
“You’re married?!”
“No you idiot! I’m just saying if Y/n was my wife, I wouldn’t let anyone look, breath or even smile in her direction. But here you are stuffing your face whilst Y/n is harassed and hounded for her good looks.” Sanji spits venomously but Luffy doesn’t even spare a glance. Turning his attention back to his feast.
“I don’t get it.” Luffy he drawls, his brain going blank as he try’s to make sense of Sanji’s words.
Why would Luffy get jealous over other men having working eyes?
Brook places his tea-cup down on his saucer. “So I can ask to see her panties and you wouldn’t be jealous?” Brook asks, a twinkle of mischief in his … empty eye socket.
“No.” Luffy says stiffly.
“No? So I can ask her?” Brook asks - a glimmer of excitement making his heart race slightly… figuratively of course.
“No- I mean, don’t do it.” Luffy says pointedly, his serious voice taking over. Sanji lifts his brow.
“So you would get jealous of that?” Sanji taunts but Luffy shakes his head.
“No.”
The vein in Sanji’s forehead makes its return at his captains elusive words. “Why the hell not?”
“Because.” Luffy answers taking a hulking bite out of the meat stick, chewing slowly before swallowing the lump of flesh. “She’ll kill you.”
Now don’t get it wrong. It’s not like Luffy doesn’t get jealous. He certainly does, just not in ways other people expect.
It’s a brand new sunny day on the Thousand Sunny. The cloudless sky was inviting Luffy to come out to play - only for the day to start in chaos when you are no where to be found.
“Nami! Y/n fell overboard! I can’t find her anywhere!” Luffy shouts in a panic running in circles.
“Would you calm down!” Nami shouts back. “She’s swimming on the port side with Gimbe!” Dashing to the port side, Luffy flings himself onto the rail in a frenzied panic only to see you laughing and splashing about.
Luffy’s face sours to a childish pout. “Hey no fair, I wanna play too.” Luffy mumbles, his jutted chin sitting on the rail. “Hey Y/n! At the next island come explore with me!” Luffy suggests enthusiastically, only for you to turn him down.
“Sorry Stretch, Nami and Robin asked me to go shopping with them. Besides, I can’t keep wearing the same clothes everyday.” Luffy grumbles at the rejection.
“Fine! At least come have breakfast with me!” Luffy demanded only for you to smile back apologetically.
“… I kinda already ate though…” The gasp of betrayal that poured from Luffy’s throat was so tangible that you knew you had some making up to do.

﹒♡ UNSPOKEN FEELINGS, ft. monkey d. luffy
Tumblr media
"Luffy, what’s wrong with you today?" Nami’s voice snapped across the deck.
You turned just in time to see Luffy, arms crossed, slouched against the mast with a deep frown. It was an unusual sight—your captain was always beaming, always carefree, but today? He looked pissed.
Not that you had time to dwell on it, because a warm presence suddenly appeared at your side.
"Here you go, ma chérie~," Sanji cooed, placing a beautifully plated dish in front of you. "I made your favorite. You deserve only the best, after all."
A laugh bubbled from your lips as you accepted the plate. "You always spoil me, Sanji. Thank you."
His visible eye softened, a satisfied smirk playing on his lips. "Anything for you, beautiful."
A sudden snap echoed through the air—when you looked over, you saw that Luffy had broken the stick he had been chewing on. His jaw was tight, his dark eyes locked onto you and Sanji with something stormy lurking beneath them.
"Luffy?" You tilted your head, confused by his odd behavior.
"Oi, Captain," Sanji called, not noticing Luffy’s glare. "What’s with the face? You look like someone stole your meat."
Luffy grumbled something under his breath before abruptly pushing off the mast and storming toward the kitchen.
"What's up with him?" You frowned, but Sanji just shrugged, lighting a cigarette.
"Who knows? Luffy's simple, but sometimes he's hard to read."
But simple as Luffy might be, there was something unmistakable about the look in his eyes. Something close to possession.
A few days later, the crew docked at an island to restock on supplies. It was sheer luck that you ran into Ace and Law at the local tavern—two men you had always gotten along with very well.
"Well, well, look who it is," Ace greeted with a grin, throwing a lazy arm over your shoulder like it was second nature. His skin was warm, like a sun-kissed flame, and his cocky smirk made it clear he enjoyed teasing you. "Missed me?"
"You wish," you shot back, elbowing him lightly in the ribs.
Ace laughed, but someone else was less amused.
You felt it before you saw him—an unmistakable presence, heavy with silent intensity.
Luffy.
He had been talking to Zoro across the bar, but now? His attention was solely on you. His expression was unreadable, but his body was tense, fists clenched at his sides.
And then, as if the situation wasn’t bad enough, Law spoke up.
"Hmm," Law mused, sipping from his glass, his sharp eyes flickering between you and Ace. "I don’t know what’s more amusing—your ridiculous banter or the fact that someone looks like they want to murder both of us."
Your brows furrowed. "Huh?"
"Look behind you," Law muttered with a smirk.
You turned just in time to see Luffy stalking forward, his straw hat casting a shadow over his eyes. The moment he reached you, his hand curled around your wrist—not painfully, but firm, demanding.
"Let's go," he said simply.
Your heart skipped. "Luffy—"
"Now." His voice was low, possessive.
Ace whistled, clearly amused. "Well, that’s new. Didn’t know you were the jealous type, Luffy."
Law chuckled under his breath. "Interesting."
Luffy ignored them both, his grip tightening just enough to make his point. You hesitated, glancing at your captain, whose expression was unreadable, but his body language? It spoke volumes.
He hated seeing you close to them.
He hated not being the one you gave your attention to.
Your stomach flipped, heat creeping up your neck. Was this… jealousy? From Luffy?
Deciding not to push him—at least, not yet—you sighed. "Alright, alright. No need to get all grumpy, Captain."
He didn’t respond. Just held onto you, making sure you followed him.
As he led you out of the tavern, you caught the knowing smirks on Ace and Law’s faces.
And deep down, you knew—Luffy’s feelings for you weren’t as simple as he wanted them to be.
Not anymore.

cw: fluff. talk of marriage.
“Hey, when do you want to get married?”
Luffy’s simple question, asked out of the blue on a sunny and clear Sunday afternoon at the pier of the newest island you’ve washed up ashore, completely stops you in your tracks, abruptly enough that you practically stumble with interrupted momentum. He takes this in stride, stopping next to you with far more grace; his free hand, not the one that has let ice cream atop a cone drip onto his wrist, holds on to the back of your shirt just enough to keep you from hitting the ground, and helps you right yourself.
“You okay?” he asks.
Your mouth opens and closes in surprise for a split second, but you nod quickly before buying time to respond with a bite of your waffle. Luffy waits patiently, and his expression is difficult to read even for you; there’s no typical smile on his face but he doesn’t seem upset, just patient, perhaps pensive even.
Luffy’s always oddly patient despite himself, when it comes to you.
“I’m fine,” you say after two rapid chews and a swallow. You resume your pace, trying to keep yourself from looking at him. “What do you mean, marriage?”
Luffy isn’t following you; rather he’s planted in place, and you make it four steps before you turn to look at him, your heart beginning to thump just a little harder in your chest. The ice cream continues to drip but he doesn’t do anything about it - rather he keeps his gaze focused on you for a moment.
“You don’t want to get married?” he asks.
The statement is said somewhere between a question and a statement and it makes your stomach turn.
Your relationship with Luffy is confusing.
You can’t deny that he cares about you, but caring is so natural to Luffy that you might as well declare that the sky is blue in the same sentence, or that Luffy plans to be the freest man in the world.
… and therein lies the issue.
You find yourself looking around before you answer, even though no one in this bustling crowd would ever bother to interrupt your conversation, the two of you blending in as naturally as can be despite being wanted (seriously unevenly so, but both with bounties nonetheless). The notorious straw hat remains hidden on Luffy’s person, layered below a light windbreaker and you’ve long since ditched the glasses your wanted person demonstrates you wearing, the Clark Kent-Superman effect surprisingly effective.
For now the two of you are just two lovers, on a date, that may have just turned the tiniest bit uncertain.
“I-It’s not that I don’t want to get married, I’m just surprised you do,” you finally admit.
Luffy tilts his head for a moment. You grimace, but don’t say more, and he finally remembers that he’s a grown man with 3 scoops of ice cream balanced precariously on a cone and dripping onto the boardwalk and practically swallows the entire snack whole, before looking at you.
His expression remains serious despite how silly he is, and a small part of you wants to laugh, but it’s drowned out by the very loud realization that Luffy seriously plans to marry you.
“Why wouldn’t I want to?” he asks.
He takes a few bites of the remaining cone and starts walking anew. You fall into step, retracing the path of your conversation before now to see when and why he might come up with this question.
Your date started off at a buffet (which by the look on the owner’s face, he may have considered banning you, or really Luffy, from every returning); your next move was to play carnival games which Luffy was surprisingly terrible at, and desperate to cheat, stopped only by your equally desperate pleas; after that was window shopping, for candy and trinkets, and then you’d continued to walk until you passed by the ice cream seller and then-
Window shopping. You backtrack.
Your eyes had lingered too long on a towering and particularly elaborate white dress, posted proudly at the front of a bridal shop, paired with ornate, shimmering jewelry at the neckline and dangling from the mannequin’s ears. It was the type of dress that seemed completely out of place at this venue, elegant but attention-grabbing; you’d only looked for a moment, then looked away, but for a second, you considered that it was beautiful; perhaps you saw yourself in that dress for a moment, and just as quickly that thought had dissipated from your mind. A fleeting thought of marrying your captain, gone with the wind.
But here you were minutes later, and Luffy had caught on to you.
Luffy is now asking you why you are surprised he wants to get married.
And most importantly, married to you.
“Why would you, Luffy?” you ask.
He frowns.
“I asked you first.”
Why wouldn’t he marry you?
“Luffy, isn’t your goal to be the freest man in the world?” you ask him, taking another bite of your waffle. There isn’t much left, three bites tops, and then you’ll have nothing to help you pretend this conversation isn’t tearing at the soft of your soul.
Luffy’s cone is gone by now, and you hand him a wet wipe, from a packet you carried in your jacket pocket, which he looks at for a moment, but takes anyway to clean his hands.
“Yeah.”
He hasn’t made whatever connection you’re making, and his tone communicates that.
“But what does that have to do with marrying you?”
You bite your lower lip slightly.
“Ever heard of the old ‘ball and chain’ analogy?”
“Yeah, and it’s stupid,” he replies. You stop for a moment in your walk, and find yourself chuckling.
“What part is stupid?”
Luffy seems almost confused that you’re asking. His hands raise above his head and rest behind neck as you continue your stroll, a relaxed position.
“Don’t get married if you think the person is holding you back.”
You nod. A moment pauses then you stop again. He stops too, and glances at you.
“I don’t want to hold you back, Luffy.”
It’s a surprisingly difficult thing to say out loud, you find, a soft sigh added to the statement. There’s catharsis in the words hanging in the air, the verbalization of your tenuous entanglement with your lover first, captain second.
“You wouldn’t be able to. I’d always want you with me. That’s why I’m asking.”
He stops again, and turns to face you, asking the question again.
“If you don’t want to-”
Too eager perhaps, you cut him off, your heart pounding in your chest.
“Yes, I do, I just…” you trail off, and he’s still frowning, and you wonder why you’re so complicated in your emotions, but he’s far more decisive than you are, and it’s what you love so much about him.
“If so, then just tell me. When do you want to get married? Or where?”
You take a deep breath, cupping your face in his hands for a moment as you settle yourself, eyes closing gently as you think.
You want to marry him. He wants to marry you. You’re not a liability, he wants you there with him.
You say it again to yourself two times over.
Centered by your feet on the ground and your palms holding the man you love, who loves you just as fervently.
“Let me think about it, Luffy,” you ask.
Your eyes open, and he’s staring at you, and is unreadable, but you tip forward and peck him on the lips to reassure him.
“I want it to be grand.”
Luffy finally smiles that smile that rivals the sun, the moon and the stars, before he kisses you again.
“Whatever you want!”
Your hands link again.
Another moment passes, and you stop once more, then whip your head around to look at him.
“Wait, Luffy, this better not be how you propose to me.”
He looks taken aback for a second, but then grins widely, letting out a laugh.
“No, it isn’t.”
His fingers interlace more tightly with yours and he laughs a little louder this time, but you can tell the laugh is partially for him more than for you.
“It’s just nice to know that you’ll definitely say yes.”

Hi! was hoping for a request (this might get really specific) reader as a strawhat member who grew up with luffy (by extension also ace and sabo) back in foosha village, but actually used to be a slave for the celestial dragons before she arrived there, maybe never told luffy because in her mind, luffy was the epitome of freedom and she was ashamed of her past. The scenario I had in mind for the reveal was maybe in the middle of battle, her clothes gets torn and her mark is seen, maybe some strawhats have an idea of that mark is (maybe jinbei, robin and alike) while others don't (ussop? maybe?), while making the enemies ridicule her and how the strawhats react, but you can choose another scene that you think are more fitting! i just wanted to see how you'd write luffy because i love your writing style! the way you write flows perfectly and it's never out of character, you're my current fav writer on tumblr! so thank you!

a/n: Aww, that's so sweet of you! I appreciate that so much! Specific asks are wonderful, it makes it easier to write something as close as possible to what you want. Thank you for the request <3 I put the majority of this between Fishman Island and Punk Hazard, but there aren't major spoilers. Sorry this took a while!
As well, there's description of the reader's history with slavery and the trauma that came from that. I left it vague for the most part, though.
Tumblr media
For so much of your life, Luffy's been a constant. Even when you ran around Gray Terminal with Sabo and Ace, terrorizing all the people you could find for all the money you could grab, Luffy wasn't far behind for most of it. It took the Bluejam Pirates torturing Luffy for hours before his loyalty dawned on the three of you.
It then took Bluejam setting fire to Gray Terminal for you to truly consider Luffy special.
When Sabo took to the sea, swallowed by flame, you held Luffy tight as he wailed. When Ace left for the sea, aided by nothing but a burlap sack on his shoulder and the wind in his sails, Luffy had promised he would follow. When Luffy left for the sea, you were there, standing by his side. His very own first mate, meant to weather the Grand Line by his side.
You hoped with all your heart it'd stay that way. You hoped that it was all he'd know about you—you, his first mate, with nothing else of her past beyond the Grey Terminal's walls and Foosha Village's people.
Of course, nothing you want ever comes so simply.
You can still remember the shrieks of laughter that burst from Luffy as you both clambered into barrels—it made sense that he would wind up into trouble on the sea, but the first day takes the cake!
Your life has been non-stop ever since. From the very moment you both step foot on Shells Town with Koby in tow, the crew grew and grew to numbers that made your pride in Luffy bloom.
Zoro was tough with a sword and reliable when you need him, but his difficulty with directions always made your head spin. Nami was quick with her hands and quicker with her mind, just like how she could never stand to let a Berri slip by. Usopp was sharp as a tack with his constant innovations and steady sharpshooting, even when he ran at ten knots an hour away from danger. Sanji was nothing short of a first-rate chef and one of the strongest men you knew, despite how often he lost himself in the wild pursuit of women.
Then there came the Grand Line. It brought Chopper, Robin, Franky, Brook, Jinbei; thinking about the people Luffy drew to himself never failed to bring a smile to your lips. It's not like you could ever speak against them for their affection towards the captain—it's what brought you away from the safety of Foosha Village as well, skirting past the World Government you hated and feared for all your life.
It's like second nature, how much you love Luffy. Every single one of you would give anything for your captain.
"Anything" changes for you sometimes, though. Late into the night, long after the moon took its place in the sky, you wrestled with the dark. Could you keep this secret from your captain? From Luffy, the person you've known all your life?
(No, you'd remind yourself, not all your life.)
You think of the little boy you grew up alongside with, with a smile so bright you had to shield your eyes. The wind whipping his hair and threatening to carry away his straw hat as he lights up with laughter. You think of how your captain looks at you with the stars in his eyes, declaring that he will be the next King of the Pirates, and you believe him with all your heart.
Even after Ace died, his flames swallowed up in magma, you were there two years later. Luffy had gone through hell and back with you—couldn't that be enough?
It was thoughts like those that kept your secrets to yourself.
It was some foolish, childish part of you that thought you could have kept it up forever.
~
The day was as usual. It was nice, even. You had just finished helping Sanji with the groceries—to his chagrin, of course.
As much as he adores your company, he detests making such a sweet lady do manual labor for him, and he lets you know. Often. It was charming for the first while, but by the time you help Sanji put away the groceries, you're just glad it's over with.
The snack he rewards you after with, though, makes you sure that you'll help him next time. After he waves you off to begin lunch prep, you're quick to escape back to the docks.
You have some time to kill, you think. It's the last stretch until the log pose is finished setting and you've sort of lost track of the group... Thinking back, Zoro and Usopp got tied together, so you don't have to worry about searching for the poor swordsman. Nami stole Chopper to carry the clothes she was planning to get with Robin, while Brook and Franky were the ones assigned to watch the ship. That just leaves you with... Oh, seas.
There's a burst of screams that tear through the town's square, punctuated by a shriek of excited, almost maniacal laughter.
You're missing Luffy.
You're off like a shot towards the commotion before you can even think, weaving and pushing your way past the people. The crowd thickens as civilians shove past you. It's like swimming up river, but with every step you take, that familiar laughter gets closer.
When you finally burst from the mob, your feet catch on an unconscious marine. You stumble forward.
It's like breaking through a shield into a bubble—a ring of civilians gather to enclose Luffy as he's circled by marines, too duty-bound to flee but too cautious to fight.
Your captain hasn't put nearly as much thought into his approach. He barrels fists-first into the nearest hoard; the soldiers go flying like playing cards against a cannon. Sure it's charming, but he was supposed to be on board the Sunny, like, a hour ago.
So, Luffy deciding to gather the marines?
It sure isn't ideal.
Gathering your courage and tossing aside your exhaustion, you steel your nerves to storm the castle and extract your captain. And speak of the devil; Luffy whips his head around to stare at you.
"Oh! Hey!!" Luffy yells, with just a bit of manic glee. Great. You step forward—
—And a marine steps in your way. Really great.
As you fall into your fighting stance, you watch your captain dart from view. Well, whatever. You'll find him after you kick this guy's ass.
The marine wielded an odd weapon, like brass knuckles with claws soldered onto the palm. He hadn't bothered to clean the last victim's blood from it, and if the rust near the joints were to tell you anything, it was clear that he neglected to clean the blood of anyone from the weapon.
It feels like a warning.
It feels like a trophy.
Your captain rockets past him without a second thought (it's unlikely there was ever a first thought) to explode into another group of soldiers. It's like dynamite dropped in a haystack, the way navy officers go flying here and there.
The marine's eyes fall on you.
You can barely remember the fight afterwards, shamefully. You remember how it starts though.
He lunges at you with the speed of an animal, his clawed hands outstretched to sink into your flesh.
You dodge, he pivots, you aim to strike before he finds his footing—every move you make is to drive you closer to Luffy so you can cut and run.
Your mindlessness makes you sloppy. You don't even notice the way you're babying your secret, cradling it away from the fight. Of course that fucking marine notices.
Seas, you don't even know this marine's name, and yet he could still read you like a fucking book.
It's your last mistake.
When he slips to the side, too close for comfort, you jump back. His hand raises to tear out your eyes.
You raise your arms to guard, falling for the feint—the marine weaves past you, bearing his claws, and digs into your flesh.
It's over before you can even feel the pain.
You barely hold back a yell as you leap back, clutching your body. Warm blood trickles down the strike until it stained your clothes, sending panic shooting up your spine.
Like a curse from whatever gods left, that damn marine had struck you where you were weakest. There wasn't any time—by the time you whip around to clutch the wound, to hide your shame, it was too late.
"That pirate! She's... branded!"
A chorus of gasps tear through the crowd like a terrible symphony. You cling to the ribbons of your ruined attire like it could still save you.
Shadows claw at your vision as you struggle to breathe. Warm blood trickles down your limbs and your mark aches with a fresh, searing pain—it's grown with you, stretching over your skin in a reminder you can only try to forget.
You hear Robin gasp like she was struck herself. Oh seas, when did she arrive? You want to tuck yourself into a ball and hide from the prying eyes boring into your skin. You're sure she understands, if only because she shares your terror of who gave you this cross to bear, but it scares you. Somewhere, Usopp murmurs to her, "what is that?"
They know. They know.
The marine barks out in a fit of laughter, teeth bared and fingers curled around his claws. "What the hell is Straw Hat doing with government property?"
You think of Foosha Village, dodging your family and bathing in the river at night. You think of the clothes you had to give Makino back, too ridden by fear to wear them.
You think of your crew, sleeping soundly while you were working up the nerve to change your clothes in the dark. You think of Nami, with her skin graft and her new tattoo and the jealousy so strong you choke on it every time you see it. You think of how no one knows what was before that pinwheel tattoo except for the people she wants to know.
You think of your captain. You think of Luffy.
Oh seas, Luffy.
Tears cloud your eyes as you struggle to breathe. When you turn to your captain, you can barely see him—your vision swims, revealing splotches of color you'd recognize anywhere.
His haki rolls off in waves, so suffocating you can taste his rage on the back of your tongue. You see soldiers buckle and civilians collapse.
Your words escape before you can even think.
"Luffy, help...!"
A fist rockets past you. The sound of crunching bone hits you as air whips your cheeks. A mangled yell of pain is the last thing you hear from the marine.
"She doesn't," your captain growls, "belong to anybody."
~
You're brought into the medbay as soon as the Sunny left the docks. The silence is suffocating. You could barely look at Chopper as you shed your clothes, letting it slip until your shame was bare.
If you could guess, you'd bet it was nothing but professional courtesy that's keeping Chopper from reacting. That fucking mark takes up almost the entirety of the flesh, like a wound that can never heal.
The young doctor is kind when he cleans the blood. His touch hovers above your laceration when you hiss and tense. He's patient too, only continuing his work when you allow him to.
You hate this. Seas, you fucking hate this. You slump forward when Chopper continues his work.
You both pretend to not notice the tears that fall.
When he backs away, wound cleaned and bandaged, you don't turn to look him in the eye. You just turn your head and nod at Chopper.
The doctor straightens up like he always does after he works, but there's a new nervousness to him. His hooves are pressed together, like he's trying to quell the shaking. It makes you grit your teeth.
"The wound isn't bad," he says quickly, "but you'll need to rest. As for t-the rest, I couldn't..."
You nod. "Thanks, Chopper. You don't have to worry about... that. You're the best."
You watch the tension evaporate as he grins at you, leaning side to side. "That doesn't make me happy, you bastard!" He giggles, spinning. He sways a bit longer before he tamps it down, clearing his throat.
"But," he says clearly, "you can talk about it—"
"—Chopper—" you try to say.
"—Listen! It's important!" Chopper stands straighter like it'll give him the confidence his next words demand. "I-If you don't want to talk about it to me, it's okay. But... you should talk to someone. Nami, or Robin, or maybe- maybe if we call Jinbei, he would understand—"
"Chopper," you cut through. It hurts your heart to see the young doctor wilt. "It's okay. Thank you, but I'm alright."
"Okay... But- consider it? Please?"
You look away. "I will," you murmur.
Even though you don't see his face, you know Chopper knows you're lying. You know he won't push you farther, though. He hops down off his stool, shucks off his doctor's coat, and offers you the spare clothes Nami had lent you. She was kind enough to waive the fee this time too. You can't find it in you to appreciate it.
Chopper turns away as you get dressed again, which makes you smile. It makes you feel like you have some control again.
(You can't help but study your bandages. They're wrapped snug around you, but the edges of the brand sticks out like a hand print seared into your skin. You can still see the three pointed claws under the stark white of gauze.
It's the first time in a while you've really observed it. Every other time you forced yourself to look, all you could see was the red-hot brand and the wicked smiles of the demons who held it.
It's just as ugly as you remember.
You wish you had killed that marine, even if it wouldn't have changed anything.)
When you finish getting dressed, you signal to Chopper. He turns around, offers you a smile too bittersweet for someone of his youth, and reaches for the door.
"Oh, Luffy," Chopper comments idly. You can't stop how you flinch at the sound of his name.
You were dreading seeing him. It makes you want to cry again; how long has it been since you've dreaded being near Luffy?
The ringing in your ears swallow up the gentle words Chopper offers. Your bandages crush your ribs as you try to breathe—there isn't enough air, like that fucking marine took it all when he- when he—
The hands on your face smell like sun-warmed rubber. It's hard to say they're cradling your face, when Luffy just smacked his palms against your cheeks and squished them together until you were looking at him. When you blink, he blinks back at you.
"Are you there?" Luffy asks simply.
"Um, y-yes Captain," you force out. He nods thoughtfully.
Though, Captain isn't the right moniker. You aren't talking to isn't Captain Monkey D. Luffy, world-renowned Worst Generation pirate, capable of toppling kingdoms and challenging the World Government, feared by the powerful and adored by the powerless.
No, the boy in front of you is simply Luffy. The Luffy you've cherished since you were small, with a smile so bright and a heart so full—for all your life, you've never known how you got so lucky to have him.
Luffy pushes you to sit before he flops down next to you, bobbing with the mattress springing under his weight. You avoid his eye.
"You have something," Luffy states simply. It isn't a question, nor an accusation. It makes you flinch regardless—through all your tears, you can barely see the way your hands ball into fists in your lap.
He waits until you can find your words once again. It's kinder than you deserve.
"D-Do you- want to see it?"
"I don't care." Luffy just sort of... tilts his head at you. "I want to see you."
It's such a simple sentiment. It makes you feel like you've swallowed a thousand blades.
"I'm-... I didn't- I'm sorry, Luffy," you force out. The nails you dig into the stark white gauze don't put any pressure into the skin below it. Luffy frowns anyways.
"You can't apologize," he states simply. "You don't have to."
"But I- I lied—"
"It's okay." Luffy kicks his feet out. "I know you. I don't care about the rest."
All your words slip from your mind. If Luffy minds the silence, he doesn't show it.
Shame floods your chest. All these years hiding your past, unraveled just like that. You stare at your lap.
"They," you admit softly, "had me for so long. I- I never thought I'd be free."
He doesn't respond. You don't need him to—the words rush out before you can think. You stare into your open hands.
"W-When I escaped, I promised myself something. I said, they'll never control me ever again. But- I just... I've always been so scared! It's like- It's like I never even left—"
"Sabo is dead," Luffy says suddenly. "Ace is dead."
When Luffy looks forward, it isn't at Chopper's desk. It isn't at the medicine scattered along its surface, nor is it the kit the doctor had used to patch up your wounds. No—Luffy's gaze pierces farther, looking past the desk and the ship and the sea.
When Luffy looks forward, it's into the fire he left behind.
"But you aren't. You escaped. You're here with me."
Even without words, you understand. You can see the fire, too. "I am."
"You're not theirs anymore. You're mine," Luffy says just as suddenly, "but you aren't mine."
You don't respond. You wouldn't know how even if you tried.
Luffy turns to you with the same inferno that swallowed up your shared home. "You're my crew. You're my first mate. But I don't own you. No one does. That brand doesn't mean anything."
Before you can gather your thoughts, you feel Luffy's hand press his straw hat into your lap. It feels as warm as the sun he had been standing in just moments before. Luffy grabs at your hands to wrap them around its brim.
"You don't belong to anybody."
You could cry.
Luffy shakes your shared hold. "Say it."
"I-I..." You sniffle, "I don't..."
Luffy's eyes don't look away from you. They aren't mean, nor are they worried—they're fierce, just as sure of your power as they were the day he met you.
"I don't," you say finally, "belong to anybody."
When you collapse into his arms, shaking with every sob that wracks through your body, there is no shame when his hands brush over your mark. All you feel is warmth as he pulls you tighter.
You're not property. You're free.
You're a pirate—and no one is freer than a pirate.

late night clinginess
luffy’s the type who doesn’t start the night cuddling, but always ends it that way. you’ll fall asleep thinking you’ve got room, and then wake up with his arms looped around your waist, face buried somewhere against your neck, legs tangled up in yours like he’s anchoring you in place.
if you shift even a little, he just makes this low, half-asleep sound and tightens his hold like: nope. mine. stay.
sometimes he talks in his sleep too, mumbling stuff like “don’t go yet...” all soft and slurred against your skin, like his brain’s still sailing around with you even when he’s unconscious.
he never lets go until the sun’s too high and the crew starts knocking.
for you
luffy will come back from wandering with the dumbest little trinkets and hand them to you like they’re priceless treasure. a stick shaped like a lightning bolt, a pebble that’s slightly heart-shaped, one time he straight up handed you a rusty old key and said:
“dunno what it opens, but it’s cool. it’s for you.”
and you keep all of them. every single one. tucked in your pockets, on your nightstand, in a little box nami rolled her eyes about when she caught you organizing it.
the next time you take something out and wear it — a random shell he found strung on a cord — he notices immediately. grins so wide his whole face lights up, like it’s the best thing he’s ever seen.
“looks good on you.”
"brushies" randomly thought about this one while brushing my teeth haha
luffy starts brushing his teeth with you every night like it's sacred. he's not subtle either — shows up while you're mid-swipe, foam already in his mouth, grinning in the mirror. copies your movements exactly. you rinse? he rinses. you spit? he spits louder. sometimes he hums. sometimes he narrates. “look at us. brushing. bonding. besties.” the crew is disturbed. zoro walks by like, “why are they synchronized.” sanji threatens to leave the kitchen every time luffy calls it “our little mouth spa.” you secretly love it. he leans into you at the end like, “clean teeth kisses?” (you always say yes.)
best bite
you’ll never understand it. luffy never shares. ever. but when you sit beside him, he’s already holding out the best bite. “open.” “i have my own food.” “but this one’s perfect.” and he’s right — it always is. the crew watches like it’s a horror movie. sanji swears under his breath. nami stares. usopp’s like, “he didn’t even let me sniff it.” :c you? you take the bite, every time. because it’s not about hunger. it’s about the way he watches you chew like he’s proud. like he saved that one just for you. (because he did.)
