Forever sick of all the nastiness still being aimed at Bohemian Rhapsody. I want to write another essay about why this shittiness is upsetting to me and others who found comfort and uplifted spirits when we needed it most because these snarky assholes just don't know or, if they do, don't care.
I just hope one day the tide turns and people realise this was a good movie with a very current message.

people actually went on about how game of thrones made it socially acceptable to be a fantasy nerd, as though the lord of the rings movies hadn't been released less than a decade earlier and left far greater cultural ripples and i am just
got may have made the adults feel better about liking fantasy, but lotr got into the kids' heads when they (we) were just young and impressionable enough to be absolutely transported and emotionally rewritten by don't you leave him, samwise gamgee and my brother, my captain, my king and and rohan will answer
lotr was rewriting entire generations' brain chemistry long before asoiaf and so obviously it's not fair to compare any post-lotr fantasy novel to it, and each book series was trying to do different things within their own spheres and so that also is not a fair comparison, but in terms of the cultural impact of the adaptations that came out within a decade of each other, saying that it was game of thrones that made fantasy mainstream is baffling
game of thrones could only run because the lord of the rings movies laid the path, and i will die on this hill
#lotr#lord of the rings#lord of the rings movies#i started this post because ''may it be'' came up on my playlist but now i think i'm going to start my nth rewatch of the trilogy#there is a lot to discuss about it re: comparison to the books but it's like...#for all the changes they made - good and bad and neutral - everyone involved in making the films *loved* the source material#they all *wanted* to do justice to it and believed in it and it shows#i think of some posts i've seen about how frustrating this modern push towards tongue-in-cheek irony over sincerity#so afraid to be corny or cheesy that you have to tack a joke onto every real emotional moment#like no fuck that#give me sam hauling frodo onto his shoulders saying ''i can't carry it for you but i can carry you''#give me aragorn gently kissing boromir's forehead as he dies#give me merry and pippin throwing themselves at the uruk hai to distract them from frodo#give me theoden's grand speeches and gandalf's pained expression when frodo says he'll carry the ring#tbh i think that sincerity is a large part of *why* it has such staying power even now#because it is a story you are meant to get deeply emotionally invested in and not hold yourself a little ironically apart from#it isn't meant to sell merch it's meant to bring you to middle-earth and capture your heart and make you believe that the war can be won#with love and loyalty and hope and fellowship and fidelity and integrity and just... just refusing to give in to despair#it is earnest. it is unafraid to be melodramatic or corny because it believes in the story it's telling.#and so it imprinted onto a whole generation growing up right at the cusp of a barrage of apocalypses#anyway. i have Feelings about these movies and their impact and how that mirrors and enhances the books' own impact

Can I request pregnant reader hcs for deku, bakugo, denki, kirishima, and Sero?
A/n: of course!! I hope these weren't repetitive or too short 😅
Pregnant Reader Headcannons Part 1 (Izuku, Bakugo, Denki, Kiri, and Sero)
General info:
Genre: fluff/slice of life \\ total wc: 1,544 \\ posted: 12/05/2023 \\ requested
Part 2 (Aizawa, Shoto, Shinso, and Tamaki)
Tumblr media
Midoriya Izuku (202 words):
The sweetest husband.
He would literally do anything for you.
He rubs your feet, shoulders, back, and belly bump every day before work.
He'll make you breakfast and cuddle you as he spoils you with affection.
He's almost always blushing ever so slightly.
He just can't believe that he was able to get you.. you're just so.. perfect..
He's not really protective, but he will stand up if someone takes it too far.
He gets paternity leave around five months into your pregnancy.
He's literally with you every step of the way, doing his very best to support you however he possibly can.
You are absolutely spoiled.. and you totally love it.
He holds your belly bump for about half an hour every morning and night.. just trying to make your day a little bit better.
He'll give your feet a quick peck before putting your socks on.
Then comes the shoes..
And the ties..
And then he helps you up.
He's seriously so freaking selfless.
Oh, and he will not tolerate Bakugo's agressiveness towards you.
They almost got into a fight once...
Anyway I think he deserves to be at the very least in the top five.
Tumblr media
Bakugo Katsuki (508 words):
You thought he was protective before?
Well you're in for it.
This man refuses to let you go anywhere without him.
When he's home, he won't even let you go to the bathroom without him..
He's still acts tsundere, but less extreme. If you tease him he'll deny it, unless you're having a bad day.. than he'll let you tease him all you want and he'll admit to his simp behavior.
When the two of you are outside he has an arm around your shoulders, his hand resting on your baby bump.
If anyone looks at you for too long he'll growl.. litteraly..
And if they still don't take the hint? He'll growl louder. Especially if it's a man.
He isn't afraid to get physical. Even if it ruins his reputation, if he sees someone flirting with you, or someone just gives him creepy vibes he'll pull you behind him, his chest puffing out as he glares, snarling.
His arm is around your waist, pulling you against him.
If the person still won't back down he'll get into their face, and he isn't afraid to hit them.. or straight up fight them if they hit back.
He is seriously a simp for you.
He'll rub your feet, back, shoulders, and belly bump.
He'll put on your socks shoes, and tie them. He'll get you snacks at 2 am and he'll cook for you whenever you'd like.
As soon as you started having difficulty with mudane tasks he took paternity leave.
He didn't ask his higher ups, he told them.
He was glued to your side almost 24/7.
Your wish was his demand, and your comfort was his ultimate desire.
He cooked every meal for you, making sure that you got all the nutrients you and baby/babies needed.
His hand was resting on your bump all the time.
He loved every inch of you even more than before, almost reminding you how goregous you are.
He's a whole lot stricter with your health. He makes sure that you eat enough, drink enough, and get enough sleep.
His exercise routine turned into a short walk with you in the mornings or evenings, holding you against him as he glared at whoever dared look at your beauty.
He's with you every step of the way, and doesn't say or do anything when you scream at him.
He handles your mood swings like a pro.
Sad?
Nothing cuddles, a movie, and your comfort food can't fix.
Angry or frustrated?
He'll be your punching bag.. as long as you cuddle him afterwards.. he gets insecure too, so don't wait too long.
Insecure?
He'll spend hours telling you every little thing he loves about you and why.
Energetic, excited, or happy?
He'll match your energy completely, making sure you feel seen and appreciated.
To be honest, he's one of the best husbands out there when you melt his cold heart.. as long as you give him cuddles.
(Don't ask what happens if he doesn't get his cuddles... and kisses. Do not forget his kisses.
Tumblr media
Kaminari Denki (266 words):
This man..
He is so head over heels for you.
He spoiled you before.. but now you were surrounded in his love.
He calls you nicknames like:
Beautiful, gorgeous, my queen, my darling love, mother of my child, my everything, and my sexy Goddess.
Your self esteem literally skyrocketed.
He's complimenting you twice in every sentence, buying you endless gifts with notes attached to each one.
I'm not sure about anyone else.. but I believe that when Denki falls.. he falls hard.
Like he's not some flirt anymore.
He flirts with you, and you only.. 25/8.
Makes sure everyone knows that you're his.. that being said he's not overly protective unless he gets jealous/insecure or you're uncomfortable.
He literally rubs your feet like twice an hour.
Always touching you in some way or another.
This man is sooo freaking clingy.
He's been hours late to work just for cuddles.. he won't let you go.
And he doesn't listen to reason either.
You've literally almost peed the bed numerous times.. but he's quickly learned that cuddling you to that point makes him lose his cuddling privileges.. so he stops.
He literally whines if you leave him for more than a minute.
He'll call your name with a heartbroken tone, begging you to come back to him.
He'll go on and on with his sob story, asking you why you don't love him anymore and why you fell in love with someone else.. yes he is very dramatic.
All in all he's a great husband.. especially when you're pregnant.
(He wants like 20 more lol)
Tumblr media
Kirishima Eijiro (451 words):
Kirishima is in the top three best husbands if not the first.
Especially when it comes to pregnancy.
He doesn't care what you say, this man is working, cleaning, cooking, and pampering you.
He's on paternity leave as soon as possible, asking nicely the first few times before getting agitated.
Like Bakugo, he's very protective.
He holds your hand or waist outside, and if it came down to it he would fight to protect you.
He's not really jealous per say, but he is insecure and kind of possessive.
If he sees a man staring at you he'll frown, but won't do anything but hold you a little tighter against his chest.
After a few minutes he'll start to get insecure, a lot of 'what ifs' going through his head.
He starts to think that the man might be more attractive, or stronger. Maybe he would be able to protect you better, or make you happier.
His thoughts continue to spiral until you notice, and pull him into a long, reassuring kiss.
It instantly makes him feel better, and he's really smiley as you pull away.
Whisper 'I love you, and only you' in his ear for extra points.
He is the definition of simp.
He'll do anything and everything you ask, even if it was just after a twelve hour shift, he won't complain and work to make you comfortable and happy.
When he finally gets paternity leave he isn't leaving your side for a second.
He's a lot less demanding than Bakugo.. more like a lost puppy.
If he could, he would definitely cuddle you all day every day.
He'll follow you throughout the house, sticking close behind you. He'd sit right in front of you as you use the bathroom if you'd let him.
He views you as his queen, and himself as your servant, even though you've told him many many times that he was your king.
He denied it until you had a meltdown over it one night when your hormones were through the roof.
He apologized profusely, holding you to his chest as he whispered reassurance .
He stopped calling himself your servant, but he still kept his simp behaviour.. that wasn't negotiable.
His favourite thing to do is cuddle after giving you a long and relaxing foot massage.
He'll spoil you rotten tbh... letting you buy as many baby clothes as you desire.
Don't get me wrong, he loved and spoiled you before your pregnancy, but now you could practically get away with anything.
He viewed you as his beautiful queen before.. but now you were his gorgeous Goddess.
And he would do anything to make sure that you were safe, comfortable, happy, and loved.
Tumblr media
Sero Hanta (162 words):
I've never written for Sero before.. I hope it's at least okay lol <3
Sero is a huge romantic, and so of course he's going to give you the princess treatment.
Foot rubs, cuddles, and cravings galore.
He's a lot more laid back than some other characters, but he wouldn't tolerate someone making you uncomfortable.
If a guy came up and started flirting with you, he'd smirk and watch you reject them with a mischievous smile.
But.. if you looked uncomfortable he would immediately jump in, pulling you into a kiss as he grinned sinisterly at the man.
As soon as the guy was uncomfortable he pulled away, leaving a few pecks across your cheeks, nose, and lips.
He whispered an 'I love you' in your ear before wrapping his arm around your waist, pulling you against him as he walked away.
He's not really a 'simp', but he definitely is a good husband who takes care of you as much as he physically can.

Dune discourse is uniquely annoying because there's a bunch of extremely obvious, in-your-face orientalism perpetuated by the main characters that's being discussed at nauseum and is very easy to dismiss and completely overshadows any actual issues with the movie, like the refusal to use recognisable arabic phrases or the hiring practices. I'll be charitable here and assume that people have a rightfully negative reaction to how those images of white people, particularly Jessica, are used as marketing material, instead of just not getting the point, and with how often concerns like this are overlooked, I can understand why they aren't receptive to "no this thing that media does uncritically all the time is meant to be bad THIS time actually trust me bro just read this 1000 page book".
Seemingly the entire film crew having cold feet about including references to real world anti-colonial movements or just normal Arabic would always be concerning, but especially given the current situation in Palestine and it's all overshadowed by the colonisers in the book acting like colonisers because every other issue is more complicated. Dune, as a text, still believes in noble savages and "hard times create hard men" nonsense. I'm really not coming at this from a "don't criticise the thing I like" angle, but debates about Jessica's outfit have made me learn nothing besides occasionally seeing really cool pictures of real arabic clothing, while reading Haris A. Durrani's dissections of the books and the current adaptation has actually tought me a lot of stuff about both the book and the real world.
If you haven't seen his Dune essays, you can find a collection towards the bottom of this page: https://history.princeton.edu/people/haris-durrani
https://acoup.blog/2020/01/17/collections-the-fremen-mirage-part-i-war-at-the-dawn-of-civilization < This blog post isn't specifically about Dune, but it uses the Fremen as an example to discuss the historic origins of the noble savage trope (Acoup is generally a cool history blog, mostly focused on greek and roman history)
I love Dune but it's so problematic, just not for the obvious reason and dissected Frank Herbert's actual politics and the strange intersection of conservatism and anti-colonialism is fascinating. You should criticise Dune, I would just like the criticism to be better, especially because focusing on the thing that is framed as bad in the story gives every chud an easy way to dismiss criticism of the text as bad media literacy

Ok - Season11 Hotch in “the storm” 🤤😵‍💫 – where you are there with him and Jack when SWAT arrives and you spend the day with Jack, in Hotch’s office, with no updates and just worrying, but not obviously because you have to remain strong for Jack (you/Hotch son, Haley never existed 😊). Hotch is questioned and dragged through the mud and is emotionally exhausted by the end of it. At the end of the day, you finally see him walking through the BAU doors and jump on him in excitement (queue make-out sesh in the battle cage), Jack comes running up shortly after. The team just watches, joyfully. Happy to see Hotchner happy and reunited with his family.
You guys go home and enjoy a nice night as a family. Dinner, with a discussion about the mixup today, and a movie on the couch etc.
You guys get Jack off to bed, and continue some NSFW stuff on the couch. Just happy to have your man back home, all to yourself.
after the storm
🥺 this <333 i got a bit carried away and made it a bit angsty so i hope you don't mind cw; angst, brief suggestiveness (sub!aaron?🤭), references to 11x22, jack's younger in this and isn't pissed like in the episode LOL
the longest day.
you're sat on the couch in aaron's office, jack's fast asleep. his head is on your lap and you're running your fingers gently through his hair, still internalizing the day.
one second you were starting breakfast, the next the door is being knocked down.
instead of sending aaron off with a kiss as usual, he's being guided away in handcuffs.
the worried expressions of the team are still prominent in your mind, as you stood in the roundtable room as they updated you on the situation, the one update you've practically received all day. he's been framed, accused of horrific claims, and it looks bad.
and while you insisted they take you to wherever it was he was being held to knock some goddamn sense into somebody, insisting you could give his alibi or somehow prove he did not make that spoofed call - you've been with him all morning - you knew it was in your best interest to stay put. not only in terms of protocol or whatever they needed to do, but for jack.
and so the two of you have spent the day in aaron's office, finding ways to pass the time.
and besides, aaron was innocent. sooner or later, this nightmare would be over.
by now, they've told you aaron's been released. they've told you he was headed to the prison to help the others. but you refused to believe it until he was standing right in front of you, not until he's locked strictly in your arms.
the sigh exiting your mouth was halted by movement from your peripheral vision, your head whipping to your right. will has been sitting at jj's desk, waiting just as you've been, and jj had just walked through the doors, embracing him upon her arrival.
so that could only mean...
you're already on your feet (after very gently moving jack aside) as aaron walks through the double glassed doors, and everything blurs.
you don't recall exiting his office. you don't recall stepping down those few short steps. just suddenly, your face is being pressed into his shoulder as your arms find home around his middle, breathing in the scent you only knew as aaron. your grip on him only tightens as it all sinks into you further - it's him. he's right here.
likewise he's pressing you firmly against himself, his hands roaming up and down your back soothingly. "hey-"
you pull back and your lips are on his, not letting a single word out of him. you're kissing him vigorously and desperately, as if he's about to disappear from you once more. your fingers find purchase on his suit jacket, gripping onto the coarse fabric and not only is it grounding you, but him.
if you've had a hard day, you can only imagine what aaron's gone through. that only alights you to kiss him deeper, as his day must've been filled with people questioning him, belittling him in terms of who he is, despite everything he's sacrificed and done for the bureau. it flames a fire in you, and you just want more than anything to relieve the tension in his shoulders.
aaron's kissing you back just as hard, no concern for who may be watching present. he does hold himself back from some regard, if the two of you were alone in your bedroom, he'd let you have your way with him, if your current dominance is anything to go from. and he's confident that'll be in order once jack is tucked into bed later.
and in fairness, everyone's watching, but they don't dare interrupt the reunion. the two of you haven't seen each other for roughly fourteen hours, but it feels like a year has gone by. it's been a heavy, complicated day, so a heartfelt moment is more than appropriate. and again, after everything aaron has gone through the past years, they've always been glad he's found someone like you.
finally you pull away to breathe, lips swollen and a bit hazy, placing both your hands on aaron's flushed cheeks as you come back to earth.
"are you okay?" you search his face, your expression changing into one of worry and tears threatening your eyes.
aaron nods, covering both your hands with his and kissing you once more, "i'm okay."
you aren't convinced, but jack comes running down the stairs before you can do or say anything else, throwing himself into his aaron's arms. he clings onto his dad for dear life, his small arms going around aaron's neck.
you quickly join their embrace, your face burrowing into the crook of aaron's neck. peace finally fills you; you're with your boys, aaron's been cleared, the nightmare is finally over.
as if aaron can read your mind, supporting jack with one arm and his free hand finds yours, a sigh escapes him, accompanying the small glint in his eyes. "let's go home. please."

Whumptober 2023: 9
No. 9: “Learning everything ain't what it seems, that's the thing about these days.”
Polaroid | Mistaken Identity | “You're a liar.”
A Polaroid picture of you at practice is slipped under your door. You’re confused, but it’s a cute picture so you just prop it against the lamp on the desk. It was probably just the media team’s doing.
You forget about the event until a few days later, when you find another picture. This one is sitting in your locker, a closeup of you when the team had gone out to dinner the other night.
“Does anyone know what the media team’s been working on?” You ask your teammates, “they’ve been leaving me hints but I can’t figure it out.”
None of your teammates know, so you leave it alone.
The pictures stop, for a while, after that. You don’t get anymore until the next month, when you’re back at camp. This was a picture of you in the locker room, and it was left propped on your seat in the bus.
This wasn’t funny anymore.
“Alright, who’s been pranking me?” you’re met with silence, “seriously, guys, I’m sick of it. Em? Kel?”
Both women shake their heads. You believe them.
“Whatever, just- whoever it is- stop it. It’s not funny anymore.”
—-
The pictures didn’t stop. Instead, they grow in frequency- appearing daily now. In the meal room, on the bench before a game, shoved into your locker. You were finding them everywhere and your annoyance at your teammates grew.
The team had gathered to review game footage, Coach working on connecting the video on the laptop to the projector. After a technologically challenged struggle, the laptop’s background is projected. Coach clicks into the media player and the whole team is met with a single photo. You, asleep in your bed, X’s drawn over your eyes.
This sends the room into a shocked silence. Coach is mad that someone messed with the media equipment, beginning to lecture the team on respecting property.
But that picture isn't recent, not like the others. Usually, the pictures are from camp the day before. This one was different.
This one was older. This one was taken in your home, in your bedroom.
—-
After a long conversation with the team, it’s clear to everyone that something bad is happening. A frustrating call to the police follows. Apparently, because you were a recognizable figure and posted regularly on social media, you should be okay with this happening. Apparently, you should appreciate the attention.
You were scared. You slept in a teammate's room, refusing to go anywhere without a group. You only left the hotel to go to the pitch, refusing any other activities offered.
And the pictures stopped coming. For almost a week, you hadn’t received anything. In celebration, you got to pick the movie for team bonding that night.
You were walking down the hallway with the other youngsters, heading to where Becky was hosting movie night. She had turned a blind eye on the amount of forbidden snacks being offered around the room, knowing that everyone needed a little comfort.
“I’m just going to stop and grab a blanket,” you say as you pass your door, “you guys go on ahead, I’ll be right there.”
You hadn’t been in your room in about a week, occasionally sending someone in to get something that you needed. But now, after a week, you felt fine stopping in to grab a blanket. Plus, movie night was only three doors down the hall, you would be fine.
You reassured the others to go and tell everyone that you were coming, insisting that you would be fine. Once they had started walking away, you held your keycard against the lock, opening it when the light flashed green. You flipped on the light, looking back at the others to respond to a question that Lindsey had shouted to you.
Taking a step into the room, you finally turn your head to look. You scream.
The room was covered with pictures of you- filling the bed, scattered across the floor, propped up on the nightstand. With a brief glance, you recognized some of them.
One was from your last birthday, zoomed in from a far distance. Another was of you at your last game, one of you through the bus window.
An arm quickly wrapped around your waist, pulling you back and against a strong body.
You screamed again, fighting. Your arms were pinned to your side as you desperately tried to escape. The only thing that brought you out of your flight-or-fight instinct was a family voice shouting your name.
“Y/N- Y/N, you’re okay. You’re okay, you’re safe. Let’s get out of here, come on.”
You fell fully into Lindsey’s arms, sobbing.

Meant To Be Yours
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: amber freeman x fem!reader
summary: amber has tricked you into killing one student, you refuse to be tricked again; something amber doesn't like.
words: 2.165k
warnings: canon scream stuff, death, description of murder, knives, violence, blood, swearing, toxic!amber, manipulation, bad writing
authors note: a double whammy tonight for y'all. i have no regrets.
"All is forgiven, baby. I promise I'm not mad about what you said to me." Amber said through the call making your jaw clench as you shake your head, not believing a word that comes out of her pretty mouth.
"Stop calling me, Amber." You told her in the most demanding voice you could muster up, covering it up with your growing fear as your eyes glanced around your living room. "I've not forgiven you so just leave me the fuck alone."
Amber scoffs through the device. "Why are you saying these things, Y/n? You've practically thrown me out like I'm fucking trash!" Her voice became more gruff as her anger quickly replaced her fake kindness.
"Because you are, Amber, you're fucking trash. You tricked me." You remarked as you ran a hand through your hair, staring intently at the dark corners of the room.
"Is that what you think? That I tricked you?" Amber asks you in an overly heartbroken tone making you roll your eyes. "You did trick me, Amber, you manipulated me into doing something vile."
"Baby, you know I'd never manipulate you, I love you too much." She says her voice is becoming quieter.
Tears swelled up in your eyes as you shook your head, your jaw still clenched tightly. "You manipulated me into killing, Wes." You whispered through gritted teeth, your heart beating erratically in your chest. "You said it was going to be a harmless prank to scare him."
"It was harmless." She defended, the sound of her shuffling around being heard on the phone. "Wes was a bitch boy anyway."
You scoffed as you stood up from the couch, your anger towards your girlfriend and the grief and guilt of Wes's death making your blood boil in a disgusting way.
"Fuck you." You whispered before hanging up on her, turning your phone on silent mode before tossing it onto the couch.
It was only supposed to be a prank; that's what she told you.
Wes was notorious for his hatred towards horror movies, especially Amber's favourite Stab.
Amber suggested to you that you and her should play a little prank on him after he was "too touchy" with you as Amber said.
The prank being you and Amber would dress up in the famous Ghostface costumes and give him a little scare.
You were reluctant in the beginning but after Amber's persuasive words you eventually agreed.
Amber had already planned it out and told you how the prank was going to play out.
You would call him as Amber would sneak into his house and scare him before taking off her mask and showing her friend it was a prank.
That isn't how the prank went.
You were in Amber's car on call with Wes as Amber sneaked into the house late at night in the Ghostface attire.
In the beginning it was going smoothly, even funny to you at times. Then in a blink of an eye everything changed.
As you uttered the iconic line "What's your favourite scary movie?" you didn't get a panic response or even get hung up on; instead you heard fighting.
Screams so loud and guttural you had to pull your phone away from your ear.
Immediately you ran into the house to see what had happened to your absolute horror. You saw Wes on the floor covered in blood as he gargled on his own blood, his throat cut lightly, as if Amber was teasing him an easy and quick death.
You didn't even know how it was possible that Amber could hurt him so much in less than thirty seconds.
His eyes met yours as he whispered out his final words, a look of betrayal on his face.
"Y/n?"
Amber killed Wes, and you helped her.
You screamed at Amber as she gazed at Wes's dead body, taking off her mask as a look of pleasure swirled in her dark eyes.
She was proud.
When you threatened to tell the police what she had done her proudness was replaced with smugness as she waltzed at you, a bloodied knife still in her grip.
"You're an accomplice to my crime, baby. You call the cops on me and we both go down."
Her words hit you like a wrecking balls with reality. You were an accomplice to her crimes.
The Bonny to her Clyde.
You didn't know what to do - you still don't know what to do, confess the truth to the police and go to prison or keep the entire killing an unsolved mystery; let your best friend become an unsolved case.
One thing you have been doing is avoiding Amber, hell, you've been avoiding everyone. You haven't left your house in days as you rotted away; the guilt slowly killing you.
Sighing, you ignore the vibrations from your phone as you move towards the kitchen, going to make yourself a glass of water in a weak attempt to calm yourself down.
Grabbing a glass you headed towards the sink to fill up your glass. As the cold water slowly filled it up your eyes were focused on it as your thoughts were plagued by Wes.
You didn't even notice the person standing in the corner of the kitchen.
"Y/n."
You gasped as you dropped the glass making a loud clatter as it landed in the sink. Turning on your heel to your horror you see Amber standing a few feet away with a soft smile, the one that used to make your heart swoon.
"Don't run." She asks you as she takes a step forward.
Without hesitation as you do the exact opposite of her words, sprinting away as you headed towards your front door.
"I said don't fucking run away from me!" Amber yelled as her heavy footsteps were heard right on your heel.
Using all the strength and speed you could muster you force yourself to run even faster, but it wasn't fast enough.
Amber's foot trips yours making you collapse to the ground as the view to the front door just reaches your eye sight.
You whimpered in pain as you tried scrambling back up but was stopped by Amber jumping forwards and standing in the hallway heading towards the door, blocking you from escaping the house; blocking you from escaping her.
She sighs as she runs a hand through her hair, looking down at you. "My love, please stop being like this. We're in this together, you can't leave me alone."
Her soft spoken words wither into your heart as your glare softens, staring up at her as you slowly stand up.
"Why are you here, Amber?" You demand as you take a wary step backward, your eyes focused on her body the entire time.
Amber's eyes gleam as she smiles crookedly at you, taking a singular step closer to you.
"You left me, Y/n." She whispers, taking another step closer as you take another one back. "I fell apart without you and you've fallen apart without me."
You shake your head as you glance back at the stairs that would lead you to your bedroom before back at Amber's innocent looking face.
"Don't lie to me, sweetheart, you and I both know we can't live without each other. It's what made me realise something." Amber whispers, taking another step closer as you don't take another step back, breathing heavily as you stare at her.
She smiled sweetly as she reached you close enough to place her hand in your cheek, caressing it gently.
"We're meant to be." She insists.
You smile back at her as you lean into her touch, Amber visually relaxes as her smile softens.
"No we're not." You say before punching her in the face with all the strength you had in your body.
Amber stumbled back in shock as a small ooze of blood began spilling from her nose. One of her slender fingers touches the blood before pulling away to examine it.
Her jaw clenched as her eyes connected with yours, a look of pure rage in her black eyes.
You swiftly turn around as you run up the stairs as you head towards your bedroom, the only place you know has a lock and a secret weapon.
"Y/n!" Amber yells as she chases after you, right behind you as she tries grabbing you, her fingers skimming over your back.
Scrambling towards your room you unlock it and throw yourself inside before slamming your body against it, shutting it as you locked it.
Amber's fist pounds against the door as she screams your name.
"Y/n, don't lock me out! I was meant to be yours, we were meant to be one." She yells through the door, her palm laying flat against it.
You jump towards your dresser where a small pocket knife Amber gifted you was hidden.
Tears are free falling from your eyes speedily but you paid no attention to them, your only focus being on your life.
"You were meant to be mine." Amber growls from behind the door, banging against it once again.
You flinch at the sound as you flick the blade out of its pocket, backing up against the corner wall as you sobbed quietly.
"I'm all that you need, Y/n, me. Not Liv, not Chad, not even fucking Tara; but me." Amber insisted in a raucous voice as she yelled. "You carved open my fucking heart, Y/n, you can't just leave me to bleed!"
Your heart is going a hundred miles per hour as your hand becomes shaky, the small knife with Amber's and your initials on the blade shakes.
"Y/n!" She screams in a guttural rage, leaning her forehead against the door from the other side. "Open the door, please." Amber whispers but is loud enough that you hear it.
"Y/n, open the door." She begs again in a pleading voice, her own voice becoming shaky.
You frowned at her hurt voice as you unconsciously took a step closer to the door.
"Y/n, can we not fight anymore, please?" Amber whimpers, making your heart crack at her voice.
You shake your head as you try to force yourself to stop getting closer to the door. You know she's only doing this to make you open the door, yet you still can't help but feel bad.
"Please, baby, can we not fight anymore? I get that you're scared and that's my fault, and I'm so sorry, Y/n." You don't say anything as you remain frozen in the middle of the room, not knowing what to do.
"I've been there, feeling the guilt, I was there with you, remember? Do you really think I haven't been feeling horrible about it too?" Amber wailed from behind the door, her voice cracking.
Amber has been feeling guilty about it? You thought she didn't care?
"I can set you free, Y/n. From all the guilt and pain. I know how to." Amber states making your eyes widen in hope. She could make you feel better?
You're silent as you try to process her words, something Amber sees as a sign of rejection.
"Y/n, don't make me come in there." Amber says, her voice becoming louder and angrier the more she spoke. "I'm gonna count to three and if you don't open this fucking door I won't help you." She yells banging the door once again to emphasise her point.
You don't want that, you want Amber's help, if she wouldn't lie to you again, would she?
Wordlessly, you quietly walk over to the door, unlocking it as fresh tears still flow down your cheeks.
Amber immediately opened the door as her eyes locked with yours, her furious expression fading away.
"You opened the door." She says breathlessly as she takes a step closer to you, her eyes averting  from yours to the knife in your hand.
You nod your head slowly as you drop the knife, your heart beating for Amber and Amber only now.
"Will you help me?" You croak out in a strangled voice. Amber nods her head as she smiles at you, placing a hand on her cheek just as she did earlier, the blood under her nose dripping onto her shirt but she didn't care.
"I'd do anything for you, baby, you're mine and I love you with all my soul and heart." Amber says as she uses her free hand to grab yours, interlocking your fingers together. "We're meant to be." She insists with her crooked smile.
You look down at your hands noticing the bruises on Amber's knuckles along with a few healed cuts.
God, you caused that. You might've hated Amber but you also loved her.
"Say it." Amber asked as she tugged your cheek making you look at her with tearful eyes. "Say you're meant to be mine."
You swallow nervously as you gazed into Amber's dark eyes, blinded by her beauty and soft words.
"Meant to be yours."

Chicken Run 2 things I did really like:
It's a fun and small nod to irl chicken farming, but I like that the pen the chickens are kept in in Funtime Farms is an indoor pen. That's how modern poultry gets by on the "free range" excuse.
Genuinely appreciate how much and how well this movie states Ginger's awesomeness through Rocky or other people. It's not too distracting and it's earned. She is the iron chicken and it's a good way to hype up the character without telling you rather than showing you. God. I love Ginger.
Nick and Fetcher needed more scenes with Molly because them being attached and joining in just to save their "niece" is adorable and a great expanse on their characters. Good.
Rocky was a great dad and way better written than the original but still very much Rocky. That's how you do a 'wrote a potentially problematic love interest 20 years ago now here's them updated for modern ''wokeness' standards,' PIXAR. I liked him being both a hinderence and an accessory to Ginger. Shows why and what I like about them as a couple. I especially like how, without even showing you, that Rocky was the one to tell Molly what she needed to know but did not expand on just how traumatized Ginger really is from her ordeal. That's both in character and a believable thing a parent would do when their kid is simply prodding about their past, rather than directly asking their parent. Also, given it's Rocky and he already didn't have a perfect sitch going on as a circus animal, he probably didn't hype it up as perfect but more or less leaned into how adventurous he and Ginger were.
Ginger and Molly and their whole plot of not understanding each other was fine. Ginger being an overprotective parent who never wants to leave the island now and is enforcing her flock never to leave works better here than in contrived direct to video movies like Lion King 2 or Little Mermaid 2. The annoying thing about these kinds of stories is, simply put, the audience is screaming at the parent to just better communicate with their kids, especially when it's not like Ginger is too haunted to talk about the farm to other characters. What was needed, I think, was real establishment that Molly knows her mom escaped from a farm but doesn't truly know what a farm is and what would happen to her on one. Maybe also have it clear that Ginger is so set on being a "free chicken" she refuses to even talk about her past with Molly- somehow thinking that her old life before was beneath what she is now, even though she was the one who escaped from it and was always worth the lifestyle she deserves. Would be a great call forward to Ginger's slight (understandable) apathy for chickens outside her flock that would come full circle to her being the character she always is and is best at. Over all I liked her, Rocky and Molly a lot. I just wished I could have heard Julia Sawahla instead.
Pacing actually moved decently for once for a modern animated kids film. That's impressive, especially for a sequel.
Mrs. Tweedy saying she "gave Ginger everything a hen could ask for" was really illuminating for her character. Really, much as I wish this wasn't the same character, I love Mrs. Tweedy wanting revenge on Ginger. On a chicken. Her dialogue revealing that she thought the life she gave the chickens on her old farm was "good" for them tells you so much about her and how she sees herself as a good farmer only if she's a successful farmer.
Haha the ending shot is perfect.
Okay one thing about this movie- this may be actually be a bad thing depending on your diet choices -this movie makes me actually really hungry for chicken and chicken nuggets. This whole franchise isn't inherently vegetarian or trying to be anti meat, granted, but that is the take away from the character's perspective given that they are the chickens. To put this a different way: the first movie makes eating chicken really unappetizing from the beginning with the "roll call" scene and the pies the chickens would potentially turn into, over the top as it is, also unpleasant. You definitely don't get anything close to the "roll call" scene in this film. A chicken does die but it's all so offscreen it has no impact, so when she's cartoonishly instantly turned into nuggets that Mrs. Tweedy eats, you don't feel anything...you kind of wanna eat the nuggets. Apologies to any chickens reading that. Here, have some happy chickens to counteract the pain:

Screaming into a void time (another long one, sorry)...
Ok, I have tolerated these shenanigans with the Boston bonehead and his merry band of clout chasers and liars, watching his soul decay while everyone (including me) debated whether he was married or not, how many ceremonies they had, how they traveled and where they lived (and was it even their ugly-ass house in MA or NY) but I have to lay down some cold hard truths for our anxiety riddled pothead.
Your decisions, forced or not, have led you to this horrid point. Your only choices may have been between a turd sandwich and a giant douche (thanks, South Park) but you made that choice. And something tells me you didn't just come to this point out of nowhere. There were probably a string of missed lessons along the way that painted you into such a corner.
I know you may be fragile right now but you need to hear this as I suspect you are not hearing it from your loser friends or listening to the ones who do have your best interest at heart.
You are teetering on the ragged edge, my friend. I just saw the first trailer for Pain Hustlers and I can see why they released it only a week and a half before it is in the theaters- because Netflix wants to bury it. Another in a long line of duds your team should have been adept at steering you clear from. You better hope the strike last long enough to where Red One has to be postponed until next year, otherwise you will pull off the hat trick of working your ass off on three movies that have showcased how little anyone cares (you or the audience). I could be wrong about Red One, but this was filmed during your fugue state where the real Chris disappeared and was replaced with a stoned automaton who had no problem selling out everything he believed in. Not conducive to the best creative energy.
Well, buddy, it is time to wake up. You are aware of what is going on in the world, right? You used to have a website that cared about this stuff. Too bad you couldn't use this time off from the strike to pour into that instead of pretending to get married to a woman you refuse to touch or even sit near, breadcrumming two weddings by leveraging the poor boundaries you have established with your family and friends and giving the worst interview to GQ, making you look like a tone deaf, moronic, pretentious asshole.
You need to separate yourself from these racist, anti-semites NOW. While some outside the fandom are starting to notice, it will catch on like a house on fire if you aren't careful. Remember how easy it was for the fandom to find out all this shit about them last year? And now look at what is going on outside. Hamas is a terrorist organization who wants nothing more than to have Jews exterminated from the planet. And here in the US, we have someone vying to be Speaker of the House (second in line for the Presidency) who describes himself as "David Duke without the baggage"; you remember David Duke, right? You used to stand up to him before you were made to look like a fucking joke).
There is no such thing as a little bit racist, or a little bit antisemetic, and for all intents and purposes, you married one, with all her "baggage". Certificate or no certificate; pictures or no pictures. This isn't one of those things that you can claim plausible deniability. You are in it. And if you think your privlege can save you, maybe it can, but I doubt it. It may not have happened yet, but the Sword of Damocles is hanging just above your head.
It comes down to the difference between intent and impact. No one really believes this has been your intent, but that matters little to those impacted by your actions. I know you have "cyclical unhappiness" when you think about the small stuff too much, but too bad. There is no way to take yourself out of the equation. You are not a used car lot balloon, who frantically moves every which way until the air is let out and deflates into nothing. You are a grown human being and like all of us, have a responsibility to understand your place in the universe. Otherwise, you are just stepping over bodies with such carelessness- the teacher in Portugal who only thought she was supporting a charity, your friends trying to promote one of your crappy movies, only to have it derailed by your drama backstage, fans getting harassed and even receiving death threats for speaking the truth we see with our own eyes. You may not be doing these things with your own hands, but that does not absolve your responsibility.
As I said before, this is your time to wake up. Coming clean with pure heart and honesty is the only solution at this point. If you wait too long or dig your heals in, like we have seen before, it will be too late. Do you think Jinx will want to partner with an antisemite loving dog dad? What studio will hire you, even for your one movie a year? Based on your crappy decision making skills, I have a feeling any pottery you sell will be break even with the amount of pot you smoke. So invest wisely and I hope your accountants are more trustworthy than the rest of the people you have surrounded yourself with.
Now, I am actually a very kind person who for some reason is still rooting for you. I still think there is a good person buried deep in there. These are rare and may be why I can't give up just yet.
You have the con this weekend. I know you can't promote Captain America, but think back to what he stood for. You even referenced him and how you aimed to be more like him in that god forsaken GQ video. So do it, you dummy! You will feel much better when your soul is unburdened. Then follow the advise I and many others have given before:
Get a good therapist and do the work
Decide if you really want to act or not; if so, take some classes to shake the cobwebs off; If not, are you going to be ok giving up the perks?
Don't use weed as a crutch
Establish clear boundaries with family and friends
Remove relationships (personal and professional) that are no longer serving you or even doing you harm
Listen to what your head and the universe is telling you
Do not get into a relationship until you have an idea of who you are and at least get to the "like" stage
To quote Florence and the Machine (Wish That You Were Here):
And now I'm reaching out with every note I sing And I hope it gets to you on some pacific wind Wraps itself around you and whispers in your ear Tells you that I miss you and I wish that you were here

miguel feelings bc of the deleted scene:
people mischaracterize miguel largely because we see him from miles' pov. we see him as the guy who will stop at nothing to prevent miles from saving his dad - and that's insane, to tell a 15 year old to let his dad die, then to chase him around forcing him to let it happen
miguel was absolutely not right on that part at all and the things I talk about doesn't absolve him of that. I just wanna get that out now
we're essentially plopped into the apex of Miguel's grief in the movie. he just recently lost his daughter and is dealing w the consequences of what he believes is entirely his fault (I don't think he's right about the canon but that's another post). he's holding onto control and miles refusing to let his dad die is control slipping from Miguel
we see him snap. we see him at his worst. but I think what a lot of people don't get is that...it isn't inherently...him. he isn't evil. he isn't incapable of love. in fact he loves hard...but he doesn't know how to show it and it twists into something that hurts
the difference between a villain and antagonist etc etc
what does this have to do w the deleted scene? well I think it was detrimental that they didn't use it. we see miguel interacting in a more lax way with the rest of spider society. he banters, he jokes, he's sarcastic and snarky. I can see now what the writers meant when they said they based him off the '92 comics run. we see more if his personality. he's not just this angry and aggressive man. I wish they showed more of that.
we only really see him in the movie during high stress and serious situations.
idk why they didn't go with that cut. maybe it didn't flow with how they wanted the story. maybe it was for time. I don't know. but it's a shame because I think that small 5 minute scene really shows more of him - more of him outside the fannish interpretation of this animalistic, aggressive man (which is not who he actually is)
(btw I'm not forcing anyone or making anyone feel bad for viewing him however, I just think he isn't inherently animalistic nor is he evil. you're free to still dislike the dude if you do. and I know some people like him for fun, that is fine too. I'm just overly invested in him now)

okay, but what if:
"and then he said 'doesn't this proves how much of a good friend i am?' it was fucking insane!"
"I don't want to tell you I told you so, but..."
"Farleigh shut-"
"I don't think I will Felix. I told you since the beginning that little goblin was dangerous and you didn't listen, so, I don't think I'll shut up ever again."
Felix sighed, his fingers combed through his hair for the hundredth time since he began the story, his signet ring reflected the sunlight every time he fixed his bangs. "He's not... dangerous. He's... he's insane but he's not dangerous."
"Yeah right. You can't be serious." Farleigh shaked his head and chuckled, but Felix wasn't laughing. "Felix, you can't be serious."
Felix remained silent, he refused to meet his eyes.
"Are you thinking about forgiven him?"
Felix shrugd, a small movement, almost as he didn't want to acknowledge what was being said.
He knew that it wasn't the smartest move on his part, there was no valid justification, no a single thing could explain why he did what he did, but Felix wanted so badly to forgive, to forget. The memories of that night kept repeating, his brain replaying them like a movie and he was unable to look away, no matter how much it scared him. He felt stuck, fixed in a moment. Something about the way Oliver pleaded, the way he cried, the way he hold onto him, he couldn't take the image of Oliver's eyes filled with tears, real tears.
That wasn't an act, he was sure of it, it was nothing that he ever seen Oliver did before, he was desperate. That right there was truly Oliver Quick, and he didn't want to let go, he couldn't.
"I think he needs help. I don't think he's a bad person, and he isn't dangerous. He said that I was his only friend..."
Farleigh got up from the couch, patting his pockets to feel for the pack of cigarettes, his hands trembled slightly, although he was sure Felix wouldn't notice.
"You can't smoke in here Farls, mommy is going to end you if she finds out."
"I know, I'm going outside." He retrieved the lighter from his right pocket and the cigarettes from his left while he stride to the entrance of the long gallery. He always hated that rule, "it could ruin the old folios and paintings" said uncle James, even though they could smoke in every other room, as if they didn't have relics or expensive paintings in there too. Right now though, he couldn't be more thankful to find an excuse to leave this conversation.
"Farleigh..."
"I need a smoke, Felix. Let's take a break, you can keep telling me about Ollie-dear later, yeah?"
Felix was already behind him, with the rush Farleigh didn't even hear him get up. He felt one of Felix's heavy hands on his shoulder and even though his sweater was making him sweat he shivered. Felix's movements were slow and gentle, he was never an aggressive person yet Farleigh felt his feet stuck to the floor, he looked at his hands still shaking.
"Farleigh, I need you to promise me that you're not going to tell anyone about this, about Oliver."
"Yeah, of course. I don't think auntie would be to pleased to hear about it anyways."
Felix grip tighten a little as he turned Farleigh around. Being face to face with Felix this way made Farleigh remembered his mother, how she teach him about boundaries and limits. They used to spent the afternoon sharing a cup of tea, the only british custom she maintained. "If you don't feel comfortable with someone you can put distance, you have to. If you feel uncomfortable or uncertain about a situation or a person you can and should stay away".
"I mean it, I need to know that you won't tell anyone about Oliver. No mom or Venetia or I don't know India or Jackson, no one. Not one person Farleigh."
"I promise Felix. I don't want anything to do with it anyways. If I can stay away from Oliver Quick believe me, I will."
"You make it sound like he tried to kill you Farls." Felix scoffed.
"Yeah, well, you know me, I like to dramatize."
Felix had his eyes fixed on Farleigh, eyebrows furrowed in concentration.
"Can I go now?"
"You won't tell anyone?"
Farleigh sighed heavily. He was scared for his cousin, he was scared for his family. Oliver wasn't only dangerous, he seemed to be completely demented, passed the point of reason. He was scared that Felix ended up really hurt because of him.
He was no stranger to Oliver's outbursts, but he was also very, very tired. He'd been tired of cleaning Felix's messes for a long time. He was tired of dealing with ex-friends and ex-girlfriends and ex-whatevers, dealing people who got hurt by Felix's carelessness, by his indifference. He used to scold Felix, telling him to be more careful with his relationships. How funny it is that he found the worst person in all England to take interest in? Farleigh wanted scream, he wanted to slap some reason into him but he knew that no matter what he did or what he said Felix had already made his mind. He was a big boy now anyways, he could take care of himself.
"I don't know what you're talking about, Felix. I don't think I know an Oliver Quick. Now, can you please let go?"
Felix hand fell to his side, his lips curled up in an attempt at smiling. Farleigh could see the bags under his eyes, he hadn't been sleeping since the party.
"Thank you Farls, I knew you would understand"
Farleigh bit his cheek and nodded before quickly exiting the room, he strode towards the stairs to that led to the rooftop.
He realized he had to walk pass Oliver's room on the way to the stairs. He was surprised to find an open door when it finally reached the area, he wouldn't cross it of course, but he stood there, observing.
The interior showed a man profoundly asleep, snoring softly, black hair a mess. Farleigh lit his cigarette and observed Oliver, the open curtains let the midday sun in, the room was warm. Oliver looked so innocent like this, like a little boy. The antiseptic smell that lingered in the room and was the only thing that reminded him of the reality of who was the person behind the sleeping beauty facade.
Farleigh snickered and walked away, Oliver Quick wasn't his problem anymore.

Everlark (Mockingjay, Ch. 20-21)
(there's so much chapter 21 about the old peeta resurfacing and it feels like a reward for suffering through what this book has made me suffer through so far)
i take bogg's telling katniss to kill peeta as him just saying "do whatever you have to do to get the job done"
katniss being like um surely he doesn't think i can just kill peeta? like surely not. and then her literally being like i'm just gonna do the first two things he said and ignore the third
finnick putting on and adjusting peeta's mask while he's unconscious. the fact that katniss notes this. i cry
peeta realising he's killed mitchell hurts a lot. the capitol really turned him into something he's not. and he's fighting it so hard still
the compassion the other members of the star squad show peeta is actually very heart-warming, they're so understanding. finnick looking after him. holmes automatically going to carry an unconscious peeta so they can start moving again without being asked to. finnick reassuring him; actually everything finnick does. them refusing to leave him behind even though he is an actual threat to them
katniss thinking of the hanging tree while contemplating peeta's request that they kill him. the fact that she realises it might even be the more compassionate thing to do at this stage to give him nightlock. but the same way he says he can't let her take it at the end of the book, she can't do it here
"i feel the arena all around me... once again i'm battling not only for my own survival but peeta's as well"
i personally don't think katniss could have ever killed him. there's just no chance. when his survival is so intricately linked to her own. they're a package deal. and they fight so hard to keep each other alive.
peeta holding out the can of lamb stew to katniss. so mad we didn't get so many important moments from this book in the movies. they did a terrible job of showing the moments where peeta was coming back to himself. all his comments to the others, this moment
"the memories of rain dripping through stones, my inept attempts at flirting and the aroma of my favourite capitol dish in the chilly air. so some part of it must still be in his head too. how happy, how hungry, how close we were when that picnic basket arrived outside our cave."
OUR cave. like it was their first little home. first little intimate space just for them.
the fact that she paints this time in their cave as romantic and sentimental and picturesque. she's romanticising tf out of it. like she was in a death arena but in that moment, she was happy and close to him and that mattered so much to her
her hope at him returning to himself dripping off the page. that he remembers this.
(an aside: katniss being snarky about snow's puffy lips and saying his prep team need to be lighter with his blush is sooo funny)
in my catching fire summaries, i noted that katniss's desire to save peeta is actually a very selfish one. she's saving him for herself. because she wants him so badly to live. she wants him to be able to live more than herself. and the thought of him living while she doesn't is a personally comforting/happy thought for her. yes he deserves to live and he's a wonderful person but she's doing a lot of the saving of him for herself. because she NEEDS him to live. so her line here is interesting: "if it's true, it would be kindest to kill peeta here and now. but for better or worse, i am not motivated by kindness." - i think this is her essentially confirming what i believe or have gathered so far from what she tells us. saving peeta is not her showing him some great kindness. it's for her. she can't let him die for her own personal need and reasons. (and this isn't me criticising her, i don't think her reasons for saving him are selfish in a bad immoral way. just that she is a teenage girl in love with a boy and she desperately can't let him go)
she does the whole 'am i saving him because i care for him or because i don't want snow to win' but like it's been clear why she's been saving him thus far and continues to
"why can't i just let him go?" because you love and need him sweetheart. and you literally would not be able to live without him
and it's funny that despite all the emotion behind her reasoning, she comes out bluntly and says: so are you coming yourself or do we have to knock you out
"i slip it into my pants pocket, where it clicks against the pearl"
ugh. the key that keeps him restrained is now with katniss. her taking control of that part. the fact that it clicks with the pearl, reminding her of her boy with the bread who gave her this pearl that she's inseparable from. reminding her of exactly why she can't let him go, let him die.
peeta's comment to pollux when no one else can think of anything to say!! why didn't they include these things in the movies? auihfuaedhfufkeadh
the fact that his words are able to make castor laugh and pollux smile. he is so charming, so good-hearted, so good with people. and it's coming back. the boy with the bread is there, behind all that fog. he's there.
and again, katniss's hope at realising this. her glancing back at him. i can feel her emotions even though she's not always forthcoming with them
her wishing she could read his mind and go inside it to help him. settling on making sure he's eaten. taking away the lid so he can't hurt himself.
him saying mockingjays need wings to survive kinda feels like flirting/charm idk
"slowly, as i would with a wounded animal, my hand stretches out and brushes a wave of hair from his forehead. he freezes at my touch, but doesn't recoil. so i continue to gently smooth back his hair. it's the first time i have voluntarily touched him since the last arena" - never forget what the movies took from us!!
them smoothing/playing with/brushing back each other's hair has been a constant since the first book. an intimate thing, a comforting thing. and here, after all that's gone on, katniss knows what might help him sleep and she takes the risk of touching him. it could've gone so badly. but she still did it, for him. and for her.
him whispering "you're still trying to protect me. real or not real"... i want to hug him so bad. but he feels it. he feels her wanting to still protect him and he needs the confirmation.
protecting each other is what they do guysss
he has horrible circles under his eyes from not being able to sleep but, as katniss smooths his hair back, he falls asleep after a minute. do you understand how important this is?????

Headcanons for slashers (whoever you want) finding their s/o smoking cigarettes after hiding it?
Only if you're comfortable of course, thank you :)
AN: I've added my personal thoughts whether they can roll a ciggy or not because it's hilarious.
Tumblr media
RZ Michael Myers
Oh, he does not care. Not even for the fact that you tried to hide it.
Michael grew up in the 90s, I am pretty sure he is used to smoking.
He will however steal your cigarettes now. Not because they're bad for you, no, he just wants to smoke too.
It will be a nice little habit, though, smoking together. Gives you an excuse to cuddle into him for warmth while you're standing outside.
Michael can not roll a cigarette for the life of him, and you can't convince me otherwise. Either he rips the paper or he loses the filter. And they always look tortured.
Cig rolling ability: 1/10
(He gets one point because at least he knows how it works in theory.)
Vincent Sinclair
Vincent isn't bothered by the smoking. What worries him a little is the fact that you tried to hide it.
He tries to assure you that he doesn't mind, in order to hopefully ease your anxieties. After all, he's got a smoking brother already. You won't be much of a bother.
Vincent can roll a cigarette.
Come on, tell me someone with hands as deft as his can't roll a cigarette (Wow, I should stop talking about his hands).
Plus, I think he smoked in his youth as well.
Cig rolling ability: 9/10 (I'm subtracting one point because I refuse to believe he's this good at everything.)
Bo Sinclair
Bo is a smoker. And he'll find it absolutely hilarious that you tried to hide your habit from him.
He will never stop his teasing.
Now that he knows that you share his preference, he can pull so many moves. Bo's the type of guy to light your cigarettes as a flirting method.
He thinks it's hot, you think it's a little ridiculous.
Bo can roll a cigarette, but he applies too much pressure. They look a little squished sometimes.
Cig rolling ability: 7/10
Lester Sinclair
Don't we see Lester smoke in the movie?
I went into heavy research and yes we see him smoke in the movie. IN THE TRUCK, to be exact, which is a crime.
So yes, Lester is a smoker too.
He won't take it too hard that you hid your habit from him, but he still reassures you that he doesn't mind.
He likes smoking with you, in fact.
Please stop him from smoking in the car.
Lester can roll a decent cigarette. Sure, sometimes they lack good structure, but he makes up for it with enthusiasm.
He is the type of lover that will pre-roll cigarettes for you, and it's super sweet.
Cig rolling ability: 7.5/10
Brahms Heelshire
YOU DID WHAT??
I fully believe Brahms has never taken any drug in his life, ever. All his life was spent in the walls, and while his parents seem like expensive whiskey drinkers, he has probably never tried it.
So he's shocked to see his own significant other smoke.
"Don't you know that this can kill you, Y/N?"
He will forbid you to smoke, because he is a little shit brat.
However, he won't really do anything but sulk when you continue your custom. And after a while he gets used to it.
Brahms obviously doesn't know how to roll a cigarette. Not even in theory.
Cig rolling ability: 0/10
Thomas Hewitt
Thomas is surprised to see you smoking, but he doesn't mind all that much.
You're your own person, and you've got your habits.
In addition to that, he thinks it's kinda hot.
Thomas has never smoked and probably never will, but if you let him, he will try.
(I tend to think Thomas is a pretty curious, and rather experimental guy because he was denied so many things in the past. Therefor, he tries to catch up with the stuff he missed.)
Nonetheless, he does not like it.
Even so, Tommy will join you when you catch a smoke break, mostly because he wants to keep you company.
Thomas would be capable of rolling a ciggy, if he ever actually tried. I mean, come on, he sews as a hobby, and you got to have pretty skillful hands for that, too.
Cig rolling ability: 2/10
(He's only this low because he never actually tried to roll one.)
Jason Voorhees
Uh oh.
He's not a fan.
Jason will try to make you stop, most likely by finding an alternative that's actually healthy.
If it doesn't work, he'll accept it, but not without a weekly complaint.
Jason would rather die than touch tobacco. He can not roll a cigarette.
Cig rolling ability: 0/10
Otis Driftwood
Otis is also heavily entertained by the idea that you hid this from him.
Except from that amusement, you won't get much of a reaction, though. Otis smokes himself, why would he care if you do?
(I don't actually remember if we ever see Otis smoke, but come on, look at him and tell me this isn't canon.)
Otis can technically roll a cigarette, but they always look horrible. They're very... sloppy.
I also feel like he's the type of guy to smoke rolled cigarettes without a filter.
Cig rolling ability: 3/10
Baby Firefly
I feel like Baby is more drawn to vapes than cigarettes, mostly because those can taste sweet.
She probably owns a pink vape, and her favorite flavor is probably something like strawberry or strawberry cheesecake.
Nonetheless, she doesn't care if you smoke. And she will scold you a little for hiding this from her. Partners are supposed to trust each other, after all.
Baby can roll a cigarette, but it will fall apart in seconds.
Cig rolling ability: 2/10
Josef
Josef is a bit on the wine aunt trip, so he's opposed to everything that goes against his usual diet (smoothies, wok pans and dry red wine, ah and occasionally some dark chocolate).
Therefore, he won't appreciate the cancer sticks, but he'll stick up with them because he likes you.
Sporadically, he'll steal a hit, but that's usually when he's tipsy.
If you ask him if he can roll a cigarette, he'll say yes, but that is a fat lie.
Cig rolling ability: 0/10
Amanda Young
Amanda is torn between amusement and worry when she finds out about your mannerism.
She doesn't necessarily mind cigarettes, but her strong history with drugs influences her opinion a little.
Though, as long as your smoking habit stays reasonable, she won't acknowledge it that much.
Amanda can roll a pretty neat cigarette on a good day, and she will roll for you if you ask her to.
Though, sometimes her hands shake too much to hold the paper properly, and then they all look horrible.
Cig rolling ability: 6.5/10

part 1
[TW: internalized homophobia | compulsory heterosexuality]
Eddie doesn't want to have a problem with Steve.
Steve is great, he's one of his best friends, contrary to all predictions, he enjoys his company, he feels at ease around him, and he knows he can always count on him.
He really doesn't want to have a problem with Steve.
When he had come out to him, a few weeks ago, Steve looked so scared and worried about his reaction. Eddie had reassured him immediately that nothing was going to change and he meant it. He hated the look on Steve's face, the idea that he didn't know if he could trust him.
Of course, Eddie was surprised. Never in a million years he would have thought of Steve as a gay - actually, bisexual - person. But other than surprise, Eddie desperately wanted to be cool with it, to be there for Steve.
It wasn't as easy as he thought.
Slowly, Steve begins to be more open about it - as much as a small town in Indiana could let him: he talks about it with Robin, sometimes with Eddie; he comes out to other people, like Dustin, Nancy and Jonathan; he ventures gay bars outside of Hawkins, he tests the waters until he's comfortable enough to actually make a move on someone.
Eddie feels bad every second of it. For every little milestone in Steve's journey, Eddie has an ugly rancid feeling at the bottom of his stomach. "I kissed a guy last night", Eddie wants to puke.
"There was this hot dude, we got out for a smoke and then-", Eddie stops listening because he knows he's close to snapping.
"I told Dustin, you wouldn't believe how cool he was with it!", Eddie feels bad, wishing he was a better friend.
Eddie tries to overcome these emotions, he really does. But sometimes he would make a face, say the wrong thing, huff or roll his eyes and Steve would notice every time.
The last straw for both of them comes on an ordinary Thursday evening. Steve is beaming and sighing as he looks out of the family video door, until Eddie has to ask what is going on.
«I have a date, a guy asked me out last night. Like, a proper date!»
«Wow Harrington, I didn’t know you gave up on women entirely» it is supposed to be a joke, but comes out bitter.
They fight. Steve can’t take any more of the snarky comments and the bad looks and Eddie knows that he’s right, but also he’s doing his best, he just needs time.
Steve tells him it’s better if they stop hanging out for a while and Eddie protests, but he can’t do more when Steve tells him «if you can look at me in the eyes and tell me you don’t have a problem with me, then I can go past this and pretend it never happened.»
He tries but Eddie can’t do it, he can't lie to him. Steve’s face falls and Eddie gets out of the store being mad at everything but mostly at himself.
No one says it, but it looks like a breakup. Their friends pick up sides: Robin refuses to talk to him, Nancy and Jonathan are disappointed in him but still hang out with him when Steve isn't around, Dustin doesn’t know what happened but calls him a dick for good measure.
Eddie doesn’t complain, he knows what he deserves.
The only person who's still happy to talk to him is Chrissy. After their disastrous first date -Eddie will never ask Robin for movie advice ever again, a musical about pirates with reincarnations and lightsabers, what was she thinking?- somehow she was still happy to keep dating Eddie.
Eddie likes her, she’s nice, pretty and she isn’t as clingy as other girls Eddie dated before. They mostly talk and do stuff together, sometimes they make out but nothing more, Eddie likes it better that way.
They’re going back to his van after dinner when Eddie spots Steve in his own car, with a guy. Steve is laughing at something the guy says and then they’re kissing.
Eddie doesn’t know where the rage inside of him comes from, but he needs to leave. He realizes too late that Chrissy saw them as well. The rage turns into fear.
«Chrissy, don’t tell anyone what you saw, please» he pleads, worried about Steve.
She takes a look at Eddie’s face, then back at Steve. A thought crosses her mind.
«Uhm yeah, sure… can we go back to your place?»
Eddie is nervous for the whole ride. Half of him is worried about Chrissy saying something about Steve around, the other fears that she plans to have sex with him tonight.
Eddie opens the door for her and follows her inside, nervously.
She asks for a drink but she doesn’t step any closer to Eddie which makes him relax a little.
Actually, she sits at the opposite end of Eddie’s couch and only after they had a good amount of alcohol in their system, she faces Eddie.
She comes a little closer to him, and he feels nervous again. She seems nervous too so he completely misunderstands the situation.
«I don’t wanna have sex tonight!» he blurts out, surprising the both of them. She stares at him for a second before chuckling.
«Eddie, relax» she smiles reassuringly «this is not about us- I mean, also us but- I wanna talk about Steve.»
Eddie looks at her, completely thrown aback by her request. She knew that they had a fight but she didn't know about what, obviously, so she probably connected the dots after what she saw and his reaction.
He tells her about everything, the words come out easily and she is a great listener, mostly nodding from time to time. By the end of it, she looks determined.
«So, I get you wanna get over these ugly feelings because Steve is your friend, right? I think I can help. Drink more» she lends him another beer from the coffee table «and bare with me, okay?»
«First of all, let's talk about gay people. Does it bother you if you see two guys together?»
«Well no, not really» he answers, after giving it some thought.
«So this is about Steve» she concludes for him «it bothers you thinking of him with a guy?»
He doesn't want to admit it, but he also trusts Chrissy «yeah, it does...»
«And, does it bother you thinking of him with a girl?»
«What does that have to do with-» Chrissy interrupts him «just answer the question. If he got a girlfriend, someone that he really liked, would that bother you?»
Eddie gives it some thought. He had seen Steve dating girls before, but all of his dates turned into a disaster. It was something he expected, he had noticed and made that comment about him dating nerds.
What if he found another girl like Nancy? or someone like Robin who liked him back?
Horrified, Eddie realizes he doesn’t like the sound of that either.
«Oh shit.»
AN: the final part is almost done, I thought it would be better to split it and not make you wait too long after the first part, I hope it’s okay! Thank you for the support on the first part, really! If everything goes well I'm posting the last part tomorrow.
If you’re curious, Robin made Eddie rent The pirate movie, please google it if you have time. It’s so bad. Robin is a great friend to Steve, not so much to Eddie.

Color analysis is your big thing around here. Have you always been into colors in shows and movies, or was this new for BL? What are some of your favorite examples of color use from some of your formative works?
@bengiyo, I would like to believe hysteria is my "big thing" but I can see how the colors label would come up every now and then regarding me. I've been seeing you and the smart people squad asking origin questions, so I appreciate the inquiry! However, you already know this is gonna be long, so . . .
Have you always been into colors in shows and movies, or was this new for BL?
When you read the following statements, you can't read them like a tragedy. You have to read them with an air of whimsy because this shit is funny.
My mom thought I was crazy when I was little. Like, thought I needed medication because I kept rambling about seeing patterns in colors. But this wasn't like Care Bears or Strawberry Shortcake kind of colors where each color aligns with a character and emotion. No, this was like I wouldn't eat foods of a certain color or foods served on plates of a certain color because there were good colors (blue, yellow, white), and bad colors (red, green, black), and I got this idea from movies and church. For example, the devil is bad. The devil is red. Therefore, red is bad. Death is bad. Death is black. Therefore, black is bad. Angels are good. They are white. Therefore, white is good.
As a less creepy religious example - If Heather Duke was green because she was envious of the devil aka red Heather Chandler
Tumblr media
When Heather Chandler died and Heather Duke took her place as the new queen bee, Heather Duke would naturally start wearing red because she was the new devil, right? Made sense to me!
Tumblr media
But my poor mother was stressed. She brought in all of the professionals, and although none of them truly understood what I was saying, they assured my mom I'd grow out of it.
LIES!
I kept seeing patterns, so I was tested when I started school and was promptly placed into the gifted program, where I was shown that green and red weren't necessarily bad. Like when Amélie wore green because her father forced her to live a calm and peaceful life since she was such a rambunctious child.
Tumblr media
Only to start wearing more red as she rediscovered her passion for life.
Tumblr media
So I remember that pattern of safety and peace versus passion and courage as I'm watching I Feel You Linger in the Air.
Tumblr media
What are some of your favorite examples of color use from some of your formative works?
Since I've always noticed colors, nothing really stands out to me as my favorite since it all seems normal to me, so I'm going to flip your question - What was my least favorite example of color use:
The gay(er) one is red.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Remember that I associated red with negativity as a child, so it would really bother me to see the character who knew he was gay and couldn't hide it be colored as red as if he was the mischievous one.
Tumblr media
As if the red character was a temptress leading the loyal blue character to hell.
Tumblr media
However, using the (coping) mechanisms I learned in school and life, I now see why the characters who can't hide their queerness would have to be more bold, not just in personality, but in color as well.
Tumblr media
Their queerness doesn't allow them to hide, and their color depicts this.
Tumblr media
How you write about liking characters who "know," I like that the colors reinforce the "knowing."
Tumblr media
So "the gay(er) one is red" doesn't bother me at all anymore. I now openly advocate on behalf of these Red Rascals and named them such because much like me telling countless counselors and doctors that the way I see the world comes naturally to me, I understand their refusal to fit into the norm to make others comfortable.
Tumblr media
It isn't bad to stand out, mostly because we cannot hide who we are. How we are feels normal.
Tumblr media
And the colors helped me see that.

My favorite Damian headcanons (as a POC myself) are the ones where he does POC things that're incredibly niche but also very widespread POC experiences
Commenting on how horror movies have no realistic people of color because otherwise they'd last less than ten minutes.
Responding with "is it because I'm not white" to every single criticism.
Bruce tries to get him to wear a suit and he's like "😐 I can't believe you're erasing my culture like this".
Jason calls him a demon and he tells Bruce Jason called him a slur because of where he comes from.
Refusing to try anything American he doesn't like because "I was raised with actual class".
Assuming it's a lie when Bruce says he can be whatever he wants in the future because come on now. He isn't a fool.
Saying American food is bland because he's used to food that scorches his tastebuds
Not believing in God but using religious phrases, calling his siblings faithless/godless when they annoy him, and rejecting atheism thoroughly because religion is a huge part of POC culture.
Saying "I would've been sent back to the Motherland for that behavior" whenever his siblings act out of line. It's not even necessarily true, but it's genuinely just a reflex
Joking about being beaten as a child because it's a POC bonding experience and backtracking when people freak out because no he wasn't actually hit (only a rap on the knuckles every now and then and the usual POC mother verbal abuse), it's a joke, he was joking.
Doing something dumb like sneaking out and halfway through realizing "oh my God this is white person behavior. I'm being whitewashed" and getting himself back in line
Automatically responding with "aren't you mixed?" to "yeah, but not mixed with stupid like you are"
Being awed and slightly disturbed on how much people just get away with in predominantly white homes
Being the "well behaved child" even with his bad temper because yes, he's spoiled, but he's also fully aware that he won't get away with half the shit he does if he was with his mother and enjoys his still-new freedom
^ And these are some of the general POC experiences, not to speak of the Arab-specific ones! People need to give this boy more POC trauma!
I LOVE THESE!! am not a POC so I don't have much to add; I do, however, love making fun of white people, and I'm passing that off to Damian. He sees Steph eat like, greek yogurt, and is like "i had no idea you liked spicy food. Getting adventurous, are we?"
