Peace and quiet, this combo hardly appeared together in the Alliance building. Even in the dead of night, occasional snores, riff raffs sneaking around to get a midnight snack, and rush awakening from nightmares were the nightly language on the building. But when this opportunity arose, you couldn’t allow it to escape you like the rise of a super moon for witches to charge their crystals and water. Izuku was the last to greet you off, highly concerned about your health, and the idea of leaving alone in the big building by yourself. You fanned him further to the door, telling him not to worry about your health. Yes, you fell from 200m off of a building but you caught yourself...this time. Recovery girl only said to rest completely for three days and this was your final day before rushing back into the hero scene of UA. With a final push, you ushered him completely out of the building, reassuring him that there was no need to baby you. He finally smiled with reassurance, the soft sunset glare rested on his skin, making highlight every freckle on his glowing skin. Dark green tresses absorbed and reflected the light like a green forest. He finally turned around and ran off but not without a wave and a “Be safe!”, before joining with the rest on their trip to a minigolf center too far from the school. With a sigh, your shoulders dropped, listening into the vacuum-like dormitory, nothing but silence. At that moment you knew what you wanted to do.
It was a party, but only with one person. You ran to the kitchen, music blasting loud and proud of ravishing the cupboards of secret snacks you snuck in since your last trip to the city. It was a typical “white girl finally at home alone scenario” with the overtly loud music but in explicit rap version, breaking out in dance but instead, it’s full-on twerking and sharp bouncing. But finally, the high energy moving died down. From your room, the view of the sunset was ever magnificent once you finally let the sunlight radiate into your room. A sense of nostalgia recreated the room, transforming the scenery to an apartment’s step. The block was bumping with your older cousin’s car 90s rap and RnB while your ears pick up on the argument on if B.I.G or Tupac was better. The cool sensation of the cherry slushie in your hand felt almost too real and your heart turned from the scene. That same sensation brought you back to the present, the snowball turning into a regular bottle of cold water.
It’s okay to admit it, you are a little homesick. So what do you do? Put on some 90s music.
It’s been a while since you’ve listened to 90s RnB. The work never stops and hardly anyone here knew the songs, except for Denki of course but it was all the mainstream ones. So the solution? A 90s RnB marathon. There, the mood was set. Songs of Lauryn Hill, Jodeci, and even Sade broke you into a bunch of musical numbers as you clean your room. Just in time for Shoto to walk into the building
Everyone decided to go minigolf to celebrate the end of exams. Both Shoto and Kastuki, however, were called in by the number one hero for work-study then he left early due to Endeavor getting called in for a “top secret” meeting that would last all day. Not that Shoto wanted to be there in the first place but it was a waste of time to go into the cursed agency and not do anything productive. The Atomic Blonde fumed beside him.
“Why the fuck we arrived only to get shoved back out of the building. You knew he would’ve done this didn’t you?” Shoto could almost see him foaming at the mouth like a rabid dog, ready to pounce on anyone in a 5ft range.
“If I knew wouldn’t you think I would be in that meeting currently? Or I wouldn’t have come in the first place? Your lack of common sense is showing.” Bakugo teeth bared harder and his hair comically shot up higher like an intimidated cat. “Fucking IcyHot! Shut your mouth before I blast you all the way to hell!” A few grumblings carried on until they reached the Height Alliance building. Shoto knew that this evening the dorms would be empty, he was invited to play minigolf after all however Endeavor called them in and wasted his time with his friends and (Y/n).
Yes, (Y/n). Shoto has been confused about his mind constantly separate you from the rest of his friend since you entered the school. He’d stared at you for eons until nudged by Izuku slightly teasing him or Iida reprimanding him about the importance of paying attention in class. But by Gods, you’re just a sight to look at and Shoto is a perceptive tourist. That skin has an ethereal glow to it when kissed by the sun. The way your eyelashes just flutter when you blink it seems like wispy threads of the flowiest dress blowing in the wind. All the images of your face and body slide through his mind like a gallery until Katsuki broke through his trance.
“Oi! Half and Half bastard! Stop dreaming about (Y/n) and come train with me! All the shitheads left so I can finally train without distraction.” The blonde stomped off towards the training area, not waiting on Shoto’s reply. The dual-colored hair boy just sighed and entered the building knowing that he too would like to train rather than wasting time.
Now if a building was empty, would there not be any music playing? That was the thought that had crossed Shoto’s mind as he entered the dorms to put down his suitcase. It was unusual, all of 1A left the building, therefore, no music should be playing. But the melody caught the dual-haired boy off guard, trying to figure out who would leave their music on. Kaminari or Mina could be one of the suspects, maybe they’ve left their Bluetooth on connected to their portable speakers and left them? Shouto hardly knew of that type of technology, regardless, he found himself walking towards the source. His auditory senses were pleasantly confused. The reason being the music was foreign, not similar to the regular beats and melodies of the songs he hears Mina and the girls play or the “Megan” that Kaminari would put on sporadically in the main room. But it was soothing as if touching his heart, addressing his whole being. Thankfully the grand English classes his home-school teachers and the school conducted allowed him to recognize the words of the song. It was addressing him, or maybe someone named “You”. Either way, he carried on to the second floor where a familiar hallway greeted him.
With his excellent detective skills (just simply walking), he found that neither of his suspects where correct; it was actually you. For his current present, he could’ve never been so grateful to be graced by the view in front of him now. Your door was almost completely open but not completely blocking the scene in front of him.
Your entire being encompassed by the fiery sunset, setting tones to your figure, and already radiant skin. It was like watching the clouds part and enters the first celestial spirit commanding herself from the rays of the sun. And he was a repentant worshipper. Your eyelashes batted at the stuffed bear on your made bed, singing to him in the what Shouto deems angelic whispers. Your voice was soft and melismatic as you sang the chorus again.
But at your best, you are love You're a positive motivating Force within my life Should you ever feel The need to wonder why Let me know, let me know Let me know
You carried on singing, swishing your hips as you carried on cleaning your room meanwhile Shout watched from the hallway, wishing he could switch places with the now taunting bear in your dorm room. Little his knowledge, you were dedicating the song to him, the bear a symbolism of him. Your thoughts actually manifesting your crush however not in the way you had hoped. The idea of Shoto smiling as you performed your admiration and love for him was actually occurring without your awareness.
Shoto could feel his heart pumping at a higher capacity and the butterflies in his stomach fluttering in swiveling motions as you stood in the middle of the room, the amber glow cast on every inch of your dorm and on your own figure, finishing the final note with a nostalgic look towards the skies. The sunset casting the lashes on your cheekbone. His eyes widening, making sure to take in all the details of this scene, the mental photograph forever etch into his mind for the upcoming and frequent daydreaming.
As soon he made an inch to escape without being caught, the universe made other plans. His suitcase clattered against the wall he was just leaning on to watch you. Your figure jumped and ran to peer through the door, meeting a heterochromatic gaze. You paled.
“Oh my God, Shoto! I-I didn’t know you were here!” Your face heated up, his own beet red from getting caught stalking you.
“N-no.” He cleared his throat from the shock, “I’m sorry I couldn’t help to watch and listen to you sing. You have a very beautiful voice.” A small smile cast on his lips as he stared straight into your eyes. His words traveled straight to your heart.
‘Lord, if I died right now, I would die mad happy.’ Your thoughts screamed as you replied.
“T-thank you, Todoroki. I didn’t know you could’ve heard me, I thought the song was loud enough.” You peered off to the bottom of your door frame, unable to take the staring any longer.
‘Be still, my beating heart.’ Todoroki carried on with his compliment.
“I’ve never heard of this artist but your voice really sounds angelic with the song.”Your thoughts stopped in shock.
“Shoto, you’re telling me that you don’t know Aaliyah! As in ‘Try Again’ Aaliyah.” He shook his head in confusion.
“What about TLC?” Head shake.
“Mariah Carey?” Head shake.
“Destiny’s Child?!” That was his last strike before you pulled him by the wrist, your intent being to drag in in your room.
“That’s it, we are going to get you musically educated right now.” You declared as his being passed through the door frame, grateful that he gets to spend time with you alone.
You were grateful that he didn’t stalk you a few minutes before “You are Loved” came on. It would’ve been more embarrassing seeing you perform “Anxious” by Ginuwine to the stuffed bear.

DS: Rewind Ch. 33
Tumblr media
Higgs ran. The lightning in the distance made him flinch every so often. He didn’t know what was going on with his Ha, but he could feel the turmoil his Ka had been through. Knowing himself, Higgs understood he was going through with Amelie’s plans back in the world of the living. Here, on the beach, the Higgs that was present was but a mere fraction of the whole that created him. The bit of humanity that clung onto hope and didn’t fall prey to the dark. Gene pulled him out of the ocean, away from Amelie’s hold, and now he had to find some way to get back in the driver's seat of his body and mind.
Beaches were never supposed to go on forever. Like all things in life, there was a beginning, middle, and end. The influence of Amelie--an Extinction Entity nonetheless had turned Higgs’s beach into an endless circle. A cage of her own making. Higgs knew on a primal level he should have been out of here; either on the other side or one with the rest of his Ka. However, after several hours of running and going nowhere, he alas had to give up momentarily and catch his breath.
The frustration of being cornered aggravated Higgs as he thought about what occurred before Gene disappeared. Something wasn’t right. She shouldn’t have bled on the beach. As he blinked, Higgs could see what was going on back home. The images made him grunt as he stumbled backward into the sand. His eyes felt heavy as did his mind. Fingertips digging into the side of his scalp, Higgs could see what was going on in Edge Knot City the longer his eyes held fast.
“Surely you’ve figured it out by now. DOOMs? People like us? She’s the source of it all. The nightmares that haunt us? The visions of an inescapable future? Sound familiar? Happy fucking DOOMS day Sam!”
“Fuck you!”
Higgs winced, the sound of his own voice and Sam’s radiating in his eardrums. He forced himself to look out to the ocean. The waves were turning darker. A navy blue encompassing what was once a turquoise color. The sky became a haze of greys and blues, much like when BTs would rise from their slumber and hunt. Higgs swallowed, feeling his knees wanting to give out. The foreboding energy that came from the beach, struggling to contain itself sent chills up his spine.
“Even if you beat me, you can’t save her. This is a done deal.”
Higgs understood back home, he was long gone. Neck deep in grandeur and rage.
“No--” His voice somber, Higgs shook his head as he murmured to himself. “I can’t let this happen. I can’t go through with this. This--this isn’t what I wanted.”
“But it was.”
Higgs quickly turned, facing Amelie. Squinting his eyes, Higgs studied her. She wasn’t wearing her red salmon-colored dress, what he had been acquainted with before. Her dress flowed like the grey in the skies. There was an air about Amelie that felt peculiar.
“You’re a fraction of her, aren’t ya?” Higgs whispered when it dawned on him.
Amelie sighed, offering a smile while she shrugged. “Does it matter? Does it even matter that you are a little piece of Higgs, a simple blink in the grand scheme of things?”
“I reckon not,” Higgs said, holding his ground. He knew better than to fall for sweet words and broken promises when it came to the entity before him, recalling how it felt to be drowning in the ocean. Disconnected from his body and soul.
“You’ve seemed to have gone through a hell of a lot to keep me in the dark.” Higgs said, furrowing his brows as he sneered. “You promised me power and purpose, and you’ve led me to ruin.”
Amelie shook her head, her eyes disappointed as she bit her bottom lip. “You knew what was coming, Higgs. I never lied to you. I never tricked you.”
Higgs tampered down his anger, nonetheless, it was still there. Brewing deep in his gut as he realized Amelie had been right about that. She had warned him before he sacrificed this part of himself to save Gene back in the colony. He knew the consequences of his actions even before he had put the mask on.
Glaring towards Amelie, Higgs let out a shuddered breath. “--But you sweet-talked me into this, goaded me. That was your plan all along, wasn’t it? You fucking hyped me up. You set me up for failure. All so that I could be a fucking puppet in your show.”
“A puppet show,” Amelie repeated softly, chuckling to herself. Higgs visibly tensed upon hearing her laughter.
“It’s funny you call it that. I now see the similarities. You know, this battle--between you and Sam back home, it’s going to determine my choice in the end.”
“The choice of what?” Higgs asked bitterly.
“If the world should end or not,” Amelie simply stated. She began to walk out towards the ocean, sticking her feet in the surf as Higgs watched her warily. Confusion mounted his features as he tried to piece together just what the hell Amelie was driving at.
“My being is unprecedented. I may be an Extinction Entity, but I’m human too. With that, comes humanity. Feelings, emotions, such things that were never an issue before when a species time was up. I’ve been indecisive about humans, Higgs. I have this part of me that wants to wipe the slate clean of their existence and everything they’ve touched, and yet--there’s a part of me that wants them to keep living on. There’s a hope that as generations of them come and go, they’ll get something right and will evolve into the next best thing, then I can reap what’s left. Then there’s this part of me--what you’re talking to right now, that understands that no such creature should have this much awareness. The checks and balances of the universe, the cosmos, and this planet were not perfect but reached a harmony. As soon as evolution stepped in and made Homo Sapiens the intellectual animals that they are, there’s been nothing but suffering. Not just for them, but for everything else. It was the same the other five times.”
Higgs suddenly felt cold and could see his breath as Amelie paused for a moment. A breeze of wind passed through her blond locks as she sighed. A sadness lingered on her lips as she spoke up once more.
“I witnessed it thousands of years ago when the Neanderthal came close to their moment of greatness. I knew the common ancestor of both them and Homo Sapien had potential. I should have done what I did to the Neanderthal EE, speed up the process of their demise. It didn’t matter that they branched off the evolutionary path, they still ended up the same way. Destructive creatures. Maybe then--we wouldn’t be here. Maybe then I wouldn’t be plagued by what I need to do.”
“Will you cut the bullshit and get to the point? I don’t have time for the Shakespearean monologue.” Higgs said bitterly. He was close to yelling. A great wave of sorrow and dread filled him upon hearing the confession leaving Amelie’s mouth.
Amelie chuckled, turning her head and faced Higgs. He let out a gasp, seeing there was blood escaping from the corners of her eyes. Higgs took a few steps back as Amelie began to slowly walk towards him. Her expression is neutral.
“You’re that spark of hope that Higgs has left. I can’t let you resurface and undo everything. Not when I’m so close to getting my answer. The fight between Sam and you isn’t finished. It’s barely begun.”
Higgs shook his head. “That’s not what I wanted---that’s not me. You can’t just use me and Sammy boy up there as pawns on a board just because you can’t make up your damn mind!”
Amelie stopped, rubbing away at her eyes as she glanced down at her fingertips. The warmth of the blood made a shiver trail down her arms while she sadly pressed her fingers together as if the fluid were some foreign substance she had no concept of. Higgs couldn’t help but watch with awe at it, how childlike her features became and how remorseful she looked. It was a far cry from the intimidation she held moments before.
“After everything you’ve been through as a child, there was this void growing bigger in your heart. You had seen the worst of humanity in the form of someone who was supposed to love you. That was your cornerstone as a youth. Over time, you developed an ego to pacify those feelings. You took on the role of a leader, took pride in the work you did for the benefit of the community, and yet deep down, it was never enough to make those ill feelings go away. You never trusted anyone. Not even those you held dear. There was a part of you that enjoyed killing people to make your DOOMs stronger before I came along. You’d never admit it. Try hard as you might to appear humble, you were anything but inside. Even when you trained the recruits for Atomic Runners, you felt a rush. Having people subservient and underneath you made you feel strong. Stronger than the little boy who was nearly beaten to death by his own uncle. It was only a matter of time, Higgs. If I never came to you, those feelings would have boiled over. The inadequacy. The hurt. You would have stricken down anybody once the coil snapped. Me coming to you, begging for you to be one of my champions, it was a blessing in disguise.”
Higgs was silent as Amelie continued to talk. A hollowness in his eyes began to grow as did regret. He started to look anywhere but her direction, almost as if he were a child trying to hide his shame from a parent. Her words burrowed under his skin, reminding Higgs of the bitter truth: he was never a good guy. Even this part of him that held onto humanity, that wanted to influence the whole of his Ka, knew better.
“And what you did to Fragile--my powers may have influenced the ideas you had, but you wanted to hurt her. She stood for everything you could never be. She had a father. Someone that loved her. She gave people hope and didn’t have to prove herself unlike you. Everything came easy to her, so why were you punished? You were envious to the core. You took away the one thing you could, her youth and life. That’s the only power you had a hold of when it came to her.”
Amelie began to walk towards Higgs and gently placed her hands upon his cheeks. She forced him to look at her. Higgs could feel his skin tremble as his eyes were weighed down by guilt.
“Do you deny everything I’ve said?” Amelie asked, her tone soft as she pleaded.
“No, I don’t.” Higgs murmured.
“Then you see why this is a fool's errand, to try to go back to the rest of your Ka.” Amelie gave a half-smile, then brushed away some strands of hair out of Higgs’s face. He kept his eyes on her as she attempted to soothe him.
“You’re a small piece of Higgs,” She shook her head. “How could you possibly influence the whole of your existence with this much turmoil? If you rejoin with the rest of yourself, you’ll drown. If it weren’t for me, keeping you asleep on this beach, you would have been gone. You were always going to disappear, Higgs. The dark was going to win regardless if I stepped in or not. I’d like to think I spared you the pain by making your life far grander than it could have been.”
There was nothing to say. Higgs knew everything Amelie was telling him was the truth. He couldn’t fight it, even if he wanted to.
When he looked settled enough, Amelie moved her hands away from Higgs's face and trailed to his hands. She gently clasped them, her thumbs rubbing over the top of his knuckles. Higgs blinked a few times, confusion settling in his gaze as brows furrowed. Amelie smiled as more red began to pool from the corners of her eyes. The fraction of her here, trying to keep Higgs’s humanity at bay, was starting to grow tired. Higgs could feel it emitting from her. Whatever was going on back home, back in Edge Knot, was making Amelie weak.
“Let’s go back together. I’ll be there for you. I promise.” Amelie begins to shift her weight and starts to drag Higgs along. The two end up walking the shoreline of the beach, treading into the surf. When the waters began to reach Higgs’s waist, he stops.
Amelie turned around, perplexed at what made Higgs freeze. Then she could see it, this light in his eyes that had her letting go of his hand as his gaze bore into hers.
“I am--everything you said,” Higgs started. He laughed for a moment, feeling his eyes begin to water. “But I’m still here. This one little part that--gives a shit. That still sees the good in people. It’s tiny, but--I’m fucking here. I exist.”
Higgs gestures at all of himself, feeling his emotions swell while Amelie stood in bewilderment. Nonetheless, she was listening.
“I have lost people I cared about. People I’d die for. Cause’ you missed something about me: I hated myself more than anyone. I had a death wish. Someone wants me to return. I have someone back home that loves me, even after all I’ve done and who I am. I may not be able to stop myself from going through with the plans you have for the world--but I’ll be damned if you take away the one thing keeping me around.”
“Higgs, wait!” Amelie exclaimed, watching as Higgs quickly turned around in the water and rushed towards the shore. He could sense BTs trailing behind him, sneaking behind like a wave. The water began to feel heavy like cement had been poured, but Higgs struggled and kept his eyes on the prize. He saw on the beach a bright light. The warmth radiated like the sun. It burned his skin, but Higgs knew he had to reach the center no matter the pain. Even with his flesh searing, blisters forming all over, hairs catching flame, Higgs smiled. He may have only been a small piece, but he belonged to something bigger. And it was time for him to wake up.
A whale let out a mighty call as it stranded itself on Amelie’s beach. The creature struggled against the sand, it’s mewling bellows a cry for help as it felt air burn the insides of its organs. Small decaying crabs desperately tried to walk over, wanting to scavenge off the dying beast, but the moment they got too close, they too perished. Black ooze poured from their small bodies, feeding into tiny streams that traveled to the ocean to carry them away.
On the last bellow, the whale ceased its movement and Higgs arrived with Amelie. He took a few steps, then paused. Blinking a few times, Higgs didn’t register Amelie commanding him to put her down until she had used her strength to hit his back. Higgs let out a grunt, sitting her down with a thud on the sand.
Amelie began to brush off her clothes, sighing as she stood up. “The final battle will be here on the beach. Higgs, you took things too far with Sam. You took it too far with me. What was wrong with you back there? Why didn’t you follow the plan? I had everything under control. There was no need to up the dramatics.”
Amelie paused, seeing Higgs was staring at his feet. His eyes blew wide open as black tar began to seep from the corners. Amelie took a few steps forward, reaching a handout. A gasp escaped her throat as Higgs suddenly shot back up. He recoiled away from her.
“Higgs?” Amelie quietly said as his expression began warped. He went from fearful to angry in such a short time, that even Amelie, as powerful as she was--stepped away from him.
“Sammy boy was gonna win the whole time, wasn’t he?” Higgs asked, his tone cold. He had his answer when Amelie didn’t say anything for several moments. Shaking his head, Higgs began to chuckle.
“Let me explain, Higgs.” Amelie started, placing her hand over her heart for emphasis. “You have--every right to be upset.”
“The hell I do!” Higgs spat. “I see it so clearly. Back in Edge Knot, I could feel my power slipping away. It allowed Sam to take us down easier. But this isn’t the first time--you’ve slowly been zapping everything you gifted to me, haven’t you?”
Amelie furrowed her brows, letting out a sigh. “It’s true.”
Higgs shook his head, disappointed was an understatement. He felt rage burning inside his gut. His teeth grit as he shook trying to control his anger.
“Tell me why.”
“You’ve only been seeing one side of the story, Higgs. After Sam made it past the point where I had you and Homo Demens stage my kidnapping, I realized that the matter I’m haunted by is more complicated. Pitting you and Sam against each other to determine the fate of the world, it was shallow of me. I never should have left it in either of your hands when the decision is mine.”
“But you’re still gonna let Sam get a final word in, right?” Higgs scoffed.
Amelie didn’t say anything, but she clenched her fists and looked firmly at Higgs.
“That will be between him and myself.”
“You’re pathetic! How could you string me along? Do you have any idea how much I sacrificed?!” Higgs bellowed. Even with Amelie having tempered his powers down, the energy emitting from Higgs was influencing the beach. Amelie could see the waves in the ocean were beginning to grow more unsteady, matching the turmoil Higgs was undergoing.
“I know I am in the wrong!” Amelie exclaimed. “And I am taking responsibility. Higgs, whether you or Sam win, the end is going to happen. Whether it gets postponed or happens thousands of years later. You were chosen to help speed it up because I sincerely believed that’s what I wanted. My mind has changed. Am I not allowed to feel the complications you feel?”
Higgs furrowed his brows, letting out a hiss as he began to pace back and forth. It was his way of keeping his cool despite wanting to hurt her. He could feel himself crave the need. Emotion running high, Higgs shook his head. He started muttering no several times as Amelie could only watch. She knew it would be foolish to offer him comfort in a time like this.
Higgs stopped pacing, his hands carding through his hair as he realized that everything leading up until now, had been a sham. That he had murdered and destroyed, turned the world upside down, and that it amounted to nothing. He was a particle, a little blink in the universe, but no god. No harbinger of death itself. He was a toy that had been discarded.
Upon his mind overloading with a sense of dread, Higgs screamed then fell to his knees in the sand. His head bowed as he was hit with one realization after the next; like something deep inside him was waking up. Becoming aware of all the little details in the journey that got him to this point. He whimpered, punching the sand as debris flew into the sky. Snarls and grunts escaped his throat as his rage spilled over until he was weeping.
“I made a beast of myself for you.” Higgs whimpered between, seeing Amelie’s legs in his field of vision. Higgs still kept his head down, not wanting to grace her with his presence. “I gave up the life I had---as stupid and insignificant as it was for you!”
“Believe me, if I could take it back--if I would have known then what I know now, this never would have happened,” Amelie said sincerely, keeping her voice calm as she swallowed. The jig was up. Amelie knew the part of herself she left in Higgs to keep his humanity, his attachments at bay, had failed. Higgs was waking up, no longer under her control. The fight between Sam and them both in Edge Knot had been too much to keep the checks and balances in place.
Lost in his tears, Higgs eventually ceased as Gene’s face came to him. He blinked several times, forcing his head up as he stared at Amelie.
“Gene---back when I fought Fragile, you told me she wouldn’t be a problem anymore. What did you do?”
Higgs searched his memories as he kept staring at Amelie for an answer. He combed through his mind over and over, but it was all strange. He remembered Gene coming right at him, and out of fear he thrust the knife towards her, but then he blinked and Amelie was by his side and Gene along with the rest of the dead she summoned were gone. Something wasn’t right, but believing Amelie had no reason to lie, Higgs thought that the Extinction Entity merely forced Gene away.
Higgs knew by the sorrow look in Amelie’s eye, that he was dead wrong.
“She was getting in the way,” Amelie shook her head, swallowing guilt as she remorsefully spoke. “I thought if this was going to work, you needed no more distractions. The knife I gave you was supposed to end it. I gave you the push you needed.”
“I killed her,” Higgs murmured. He blinked several times as a strange memory swept through his eyes. Higgs saw Gene in front of him on another beach, desperately trying to tell him something, only to stop. The smell of blood filled the air as she mouthed out the words she felt cold, then disappeared. Everything about her, the warmth and acceptance, it all faded with her.
“I killed Gene.”
He was so hurt, so defeated, that Amelie wanted to express her condolences to him. She reached out to pat his head.
"Higgs, I'm so sorry-"
“Amelie?” Sam’s voice called out. Amelie let out a gasp, dumbfounded that he arrived already. Higgs rose up while Amelie stepped away from him.
“Sam, what are you doing here?”
The moment the words left Amelie’s mouth, Higgs gestured out with his hand and clenched his fist. Amelie began to choke, she was dry heaving like a fish out of water. Higgs wanted nothing more than to snap her neck right then and there but knew he wasn’t powerful enough. Not when she was draining and taking it all away as he went through the motions.
Before Sam could rush over to help, Higgs made a jump. Standing in front of Sam with a stern look, Higgs saw red. He was broken from the revelations, and most of all, angry at himself. Higgs destroyed the one person left that cared about him despite the evil he had done and there was nothing left. Amelie be damned. The whole world be damned. If Higgs was going to lose everything that mattered, he was going to go down with the ship in flames.
“You ready to end this? Before the end of everything?” He asked Sam.
If the Extinction Entity wouldn’t bring the end, Higgs was going to force it on her. He would have his fight. He could die knowing that there was a chance he’d see Gene on the other side.

Captain Envy (1/?)
Summary: Steve Rogers hadn’t met anyone more beautiful than Peggy Carter. Until he met Rose Tyler, that is. All Events occur after Winter Soldier. Steve/Rose Centric. Mentions of Tentoo/Rose.
Steve Rogers X Rose Tyler
This chapter: ~1710 words, Teen
Notes: I started this story some time ago, but recently picked it back up again after seeing the more recent Marvel movies. I’m hoping to actually finish it this year.
AO3
Steven Grant Rogers didn’t often get shot at by women, but when it had happened (which had only been twice) it was of a notable occurrence. The two times that it happened both women had been beautiful, English, and extremely angry.
He remembered agent Peggy Carter picking up a gun in a bunker and firing at him immediately after he had asked her what she had thought of his shield choice. He hadn’t realized then that it had been out of jealousy, taking it to be one of those odd quirks that women had that men just weren’t meant to understand. In fact, it wouldn’t be until after he had been resurrected from his icy tomb that he would understand. Even then, Tony Stark would be the one to explain it to him while Thor and Clint laughed at him.
The second time that it happened he was caught just as off guard as the first, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
The first time he met Rose Tyler was before she was even a part of their team. He was doing his run around the capital, laughing every time he passed Sam Wilson, when he noticed her honey-colored ponytail swaying as she jogged into their trail. He’d been too slow noticing her to stop himself from colliding with her, wrapping her up in his arms instead to protect her from the rough tumble.
He lifted himself above her, an apology formed in his throat but died at his lips as he looked at her. Her lightly glowing gold eyes bore into his own light blue as she caught her breath. Her hair fanning about her slightly sweaty face as her brow creased in a perplexing manner, “Are ya gonna move?”
He scrambled to get up, tugging her with him, as he realized the scandalous position they were in. He blushed when he took in her hot pink sports bra and tight black capris, he still wasn’t used to the change in women’s clothing style.
“Sorry about that ma’am, I get into my own world sometimes. I find it especially hard to concentrate around a beautiful dame like-“ he cut himself off and took in a sharp breath as he rushed out and apology, "I am so sorry! I didn’t – not that you aren’t of course, beautiful I mean.” He was interrupted by her tinkling laugh, a beautiful tongue in teeth smile on her slightly flushed face.
“Thank ya for the compliment, Cap.” She began jogging backward and away from him, “Best get a move on, your friend has got quite the head start now.”
He watched her for a moment, darting his eyes towards Sam before trying to call out for her, “Wait! Wait, I didn’t get your name!”
“You’ll see me again!” She said as she turned around and continued her jog.
“What if I don’t?” He yelled at her retreating form.
“Well, then I’ll see you first!” She yelled over her shoulder, taking off at a run and not waiting for his response. Not that he had ever expected her to really.
He shook his head, a smile on his face as he took up a light jog to catch up to Sam, Today might be better than anticipated.
That assumption wavered when he had been called to Stark tower, body rigid and nerves on edge as he made his way to the top floor where he was sure that the man himself would be waiting. So, he was wholly surprised when he stepped out and saw the whole team awaiting him.
They were all seated or standing around a large conference table, Nick Fury stationed at the head, “How nice of you to finally join us, Captain. We thought we were going to have to get this pony show started without you. Now, would you kindly mind sitting down so I may begin?”
He narrowed his eyes as Stark sniggered off in his corner, casting a disparaging glance at Natasha as he took a seat beside where she was propped against the table, “Might I inquire as to why we’re here?”
Fury stood, his stature intimidating as he began to circle around the table and click through slides on the three-dimensional program running at the center of it, the first being of the now shut down S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters, “As you all know, we have recently lost SHIELD, not for lack of trying to save it on my part.” A heated glance was cast in Steve’s direction, “Unfortunately, we no longer have the backing of the American government. Now, this may come as a surprise to you overly entitled heroes, but we are nothing without funding. So, I have taken it upon myself to reach out to an overseas company that is willing to get its hands dirty for a good cause.” He paused, bringing the hologram to its next slide of a ‘T’ in a hexagon.
There was a deep sigh from across the room as Tony fell into a chair and spoke, “Are you kidding me?”
“Do you have something you would like to say, Mr. Stark, or am I allowed to finish?” Fury asked, leaning against the table with his one good eye boring into the billionaire harshly.
“Torchwood?” Tony asked brusquely.
“Yes, Mr. Stark, Torchwood.” A voice responded from across the room.
Steve felt like he could hear the collective turning of heads as everyone moved to find the source of the feminine voice. Though, As surprised as everyone else seemed to be, he was sure that he had been much more surprised.
“Jogging girl?” He stood quickly, more out of formality than shock.
“Hello again, Captain.” She smiled a soft smile, one that didn’t nearly reach her eyes, before letting it drop as she stared angrily at Tony, “Do you have a problem with my company, Mr. Stark?”
Tony was laughing as he responded, not even slightly deterred by the angry looks that both Steve and Bruce were giving him for being so rude, “Your company? I’m sorry, but I have studied up extensively on Torchwood and I don’t remember it being run by a twenty-something, bottle blonde.”
“No, you wouldn’t. I try to stay hidden and apparently it’s worked since you don’t know who I am.” Rose replied, her eyes slanted in a glare.
The Captain watched her, captivated by the authority she commanded (and maybe a little bit by the tight fitting black catsuit she wore). She certainly didn’t look like someone who could run a company, but he didn’t look 94 either.
“Team, this is Rose Tyler, codename: Bad Wolf. She runs a very deep underground company known as the Torchwood Institute. Agent Tyler here founded the Institute several years ago to help with any issues that should arise of the alien nature.” Fury switched the slide again to show an image of a green monster, “I’ll let agent Tyler take over from here to explain her facility and the help her Institute is offering us.” He finished, handing her the small remote before moving to the side.
“Thank you, Agent Fury.” She stood at the head of the table for a moment, unnerving them all with her eyes before speaking, “My Institute has state of the art facilities-“
“I’m sorry.” Bruce said as he stood up at the far end of the table, “But you honestly want us to believe this?”
“Want you to believe what, Mr. Banner?” Rose asked wearily.
“You. I hate to agree with Tony, but you can’t be more than 23 and I don’t see how-“
“Right, So I suppose I should dig into information about myself before I begin speaking about my company.” She said as she took a seat, her hands resting gently on the table in front of her as she stared between all of them and started speaking again, “I’m not going to get deep and personal here, you don’t need any of that. What you do need to know is that I can see the whole of time and space, every single atom of your existence, and I can divide them. I see everything, all that is, all that was, all that ever could be and I’m choosing to do as much good with that as I can.”
“What do you mean you can see ‘every single atom and divide them’?” Natasha asked her hand at her hip, ready to pull a weapon.
“Exactly what you think I mean.” Her hand moved in a sweeping motion, startling the red headed woman when her gun erupted into golden dust in her palm, “I am nearing 200 years old, you all look like children to me.”
-:-:-:-:-
He had been intimidated by her at first, even he could admit to that. Though, he knew he wasn’t the only one. Stark and Romanoff had been the first to state that they didn’t trust her as soon as she had left, both of them looking heavily chastised by the words she had spoken to them.
Sure, her power had been pretty frightening, but it wasn’t as if they hadn’t faced something this startling before. Thor was pretty ancient and powerful himself, maybe not in a ‘can see the future and destroy matter with the swipe of my hand’ sort of way, but he was still much more powerful than they were.
Steve was quick to point this out in the middle of the heated argument the group was having. He suggested they give her a chance. Better to have someone that powerful on their side, rather than batting for the other team.
“All I’m saying is that if she’s bad then it will be easier to keep an eye on her if we at least stay in her good graces.” Steve said, his palms up in surrender as they all fixed glares in his direction.
There was anger in their faces as they soaked up his words. As if he should be the last one to speak on this matter since he’d taken down their original backing in the first place. He had stopped speaking altogether after that. It all came down to Fury, and he had made his decision before the conference had even started.

“Why don’t you buzz off with the rest of the idiots?” He says, this time at his leveled voice.
Momo rubs her arm and she softly responds.
“ I don’t really like dancing. “
Bakugou sits at a table by himself, trying his hardest to appear bored out of his mind. A select few of Class 1-A as well as All Might earned themselves a trip to I Island, a man-made island known to be at the forefront of scientific discoveries. All Might, with his many connections, scored an all expenses paid trip to reacquaint with his former sidekick David Shield. The two congregated with the other adults, drinking and talking through their past adventures.
The spiky blonde scanned the room. The dance floor was currently occupied by a crowd of high energy teenagers, dancing to an EDM song. He saw Deku and the blonde girl Melissa dancing together which looked more like Deku awkwardly jutting his arm and legs every few seconds. His face flushed and had an expression of discomfort. Uraraka and some of the other girls were enjoying themselves by the buffet while Kaminari was in the corner annoyedly charging phones.
"Bakugou?"
The teen turned to his left and was greeted by the vice president's concerned face. She was wearing a mint colored dress, some gold jewelry and white heels. Her spikes were styled in a peculiar way.
"What do you want Ponytail?"
She tilts her head curiously, "You're not dancing?"
Bakugou scoffs and narrows his eyes, "Me sitting on this chair not obvious enough for you?"
"Oh, well…it is a welcoming party for us. You should at least show a little appreciation for the host."
"Appreciation my ass. I didn't even want to come here."
There was a prolonged pause between the two. Yaoyorozu took a seat, despite Bakugou not offering. It had been a few months since the Class 1-A was established and Yaoyorozu hadn't found much time to interact with every student, let alone the intimidating Bakugou Katsuki. The boy was as approachable as a time bomb.
Not wanting to disgrace the title of vice president, Momo strived for any sort of common ground with the spiky haired blond next to her. Her eyes darted around and sees a curious design on his vest.
"Ah! We're matching! Look Bakugou!"
Yaoyorozu points at his side and the boy sits up, clearly annoyed.
"The hell are you rambling about?"
"We have the same color see? My dress and your floral pattern." Momo excitedly says, she smiles at him, already feeling an ominous aura from his glares.
"Keep you hands and eyes to your damn self!"
"S-sorry."
Well that was a complete disaster, Momo thought as she sighed. Bakugou appeared to have calmed down slightly but huffs as he crosses his arms. He faces the dance floor once again.
"Why don't you buzz off with the rest of the idiots?" He says, this time at his leveled voice.
Momo rubs her arm and she softly responds.
"I don't really enjoy dancing. "
Momo senses no change in his irritated look and decided to elaborate a little.
"Frankly, I'm terrible at it. I've been trying to hide from Hagakure and Ashido. They'll want me to join but I'm afraid I'd just look like a fool."
Bakugou seemed as if he didn't hear anything she had just admitted. His lack of a reaction unexpectedly made Momo feel more relaxed. As expected, Bakugou didn't really like getting involved in people's affairs. He seems to be the kind of guy with a one track mind.
Oh what the heck, Momo internally shrugs. Her attempt at a civil conversation couldn't be any worse so she then decides on a much mundane topic. Seems to be the no nonsense kind. Might as well give it a try.
"So how did you find the exam Bakugou?"
"Hm. I know I destroyed it."
Wow, a response. And a non-threatening one as well. Momo blinks and nods softly. She knows he's exceptionally smart, but the recent exam had been particularly brutal, even with her S - Class intelligence.
"And?" Momo urges him on.
Bakugou stays quiet again, worrying Momo that he was going to revert back to yelling at her. He tightens the grip he had on his forearm and scoffs for the umpteenth time.
"Question 45? Fucking bitch."
Momo's face brightens as she almost slams on the table, "Right?! I was stuck on it for three minutes!"
"Who the hell needs to know Dalton's Law? Of course, the sum of two or more partial pressures would be the same as the total pressure! That piece of shit created a physics law basically saying one plus one equals two!"
"And Question 71? My goodness, molecular orbital theory was not even in the curriculum this semester and yet you have to explain why electrons are not assigned to individual bonds between atoms? I know it, but what about students like Kaminari who haven't even the basic knowledge of chemistry? It's like they want us to fail!"
"Swear to god Aizawa was so smug when he added that chemistry question. That bum ass looking weirdo!"
Momo eases down on her chair and released a soft giggle, "It is so refreshing to hear someone with the same frustrations. People usually assume that I study for fun. I only try so hard because it's directly linked to my Quirk."
Bakugou looks down on his hand and closes it into a fist, "People think that I'm too busy blowing shit up to open a book. Doesn't matter how high of a score I get, there's still some retard accusing me of cheating."
Momo nods in sympathy. She places a hand under her chin in contemplation. "I am curious about that. You're very intelligent Bakugou. I suppose it has something to do with your sleeping habits."
"My what?"
"You sleep earlier than most people our age. Your memory's probably well consolidated."
Bakugou taken aback from the compliment, seemed to be a little flustered. He blinked a few times and was about to respond when two figures came up in front of them unexpectedly.
"Hey Bakugou come join us!" Kirishima appeared to the two sitting on the table with Ashido in tow.
"Yaomomo! There you are! What are you doing sitting there?" Mina asked happily.
Momo's fears came in an unexpected rush as the thought of being pushed into the dance floor had her dreading. Mina looks to her expectantly.
"Ah Ashido! U-um I'm not confident dancing-"
Mina tugs Momo's arm grinning, "Don't be embarrassed Yaomomo you gotta-"
"Ponytail was being an idiot and sprained her foot. She's letting it rest."
Momo darted her eyes to Bakugou, his were closed but his snare was evident.
Mina gasps and kneels to Momo's legs. "Oh no! That's terrible honey let me see!"
Without even thinking, Momo quickly created an ice pack from her leg as she pulled her skirt. She smiled and rubbed her foot in assurance.
"Oh, that's good you have an ice pack. Just make sure you take it easy okay?"
"I will. Thank you, Mina."
Ashido's eyes widened as she hugged Momo, "You said my first name! Yay!"
Kirishima smiles as he sees the two girls having a moment. He turns to his stubborn friend and asks, "So how about you Bakugou?"
"No shit for brains I'm not dancing with you idiots!"
Kirishima shrugs replies, "Thought it would be polite to ask. At least you have Yaoyorozu keeping you company here."
The red-haired teenager turned to Momo and rubs the back of his neck in apology, "Sorry you're stuck with this guy Yaoyorozu."
"Not at all. Bakugou and I were discussing some chemistry theories. Would you like to hear them?"
Upon hearing the end of Momo's sentence, Mina takes Kirishima's arm and pulls him towards the dance floor in panic. She'd been on the brunt of Momo's scientific explanations. She does not want to experience that again.
"Uh no thank you. C'mon Kirishima let's leave these two nerds to discuss."
"Okay, I'll see you guys." Momo says as she waves.
The pair runs back to join the class and Momo sees Bakugou's shoulders visibly sags. He mutters beneath his collar.
"Thanks."
Momo smiles brightly as she places her hand under her chin. Academically, she was at the top but now the opportunity to dispute with a fellow intellectual seemed too good to pass up. Bakugou Katsuki...I've got a pretty good measure of you.
"Now…about Dalton's Law. I personally believe it's justified."
"Hell no! That shit is so useless!"
"I think not."
From the center of the room, Kirishima and Ashido hears the commotion that Momo and Bakugou were causing. There was a lot of yelling involved which for Bakugou was to be expected, but Momo was also participating.
"Yaomomo and Bakugou are really getting into it. Is chemistry really that intense?"

The Three Stages of Obsession
‘Jimin was a chronic user of (y/n),
and there was nothing seasonal about his interest.’
Featuring: Jimin (bts) Genre: Fluff Word Count: 2k
m.list
Stage One  Observation. /ˌäbzərˈvāSH(ə)n/. the action or process of observing something or someone carefully or in order to gain information.
He never did care for atoms or electron microscopy, all he desired was to pass the course. A low C was all he desired. Seventy-percent was alright for him, but as the teacher droned on about the different Hydrogen Wave Functions, he quickly found his attention wavering from the lecture to focus on the people who sat amongst him in the auditorium.
Choosing the latter, Jimin skims the crowd of fellow students. Sadly no one quite piqued his interest. Not the girl filling up her wish list on Brandy Melville, nor the boy drawing obscenities onto his hand.
He continues to scan the class hoping to find someone worthwhile when a hand on the opposite side of the class shoots up in his peripheral. He redirects every drop of attention to the girl who so earnestly shot her hands up to answer the question no one else was willing or confident enough to.
Her hair had a natural glimmer under the fluorescent lights, eyes gleaming with a spirituous passion for learning. Once the professor called on her she gave him a detailed answer that seemed to come straight out of a text book. Jimin was so stunned at how knowledgeable she was.
When the teacher moved on with the lesson, Jimin didn’t. His eyes stayed glued to the girl’s back and even if there wasn’t much to see, it was enough for him.
-
After weeks of admiring her from afar, there was finally a shift. An opportunity to talk to her. It was during a lab day, and this was a time he wished he had taken the time to get acquainted with someone, instead of staring off at the girl during lecture.
Everyone rushed at the chance to click up, meanwhile he sat at his seat idly looking around for someone that seemed to be in the same boat as him. A tap on his shoulder interrupts his desperate search as he whips his head around to be met with eyes he’s only rarely seen, when she’d take a glance back at the clock.
Her hair was put up into a messy bun, the only thing holding it being a wooden pencil. He was surprised to meet the only person who probably still uses those. The loose strands that refused to obey the ways of the bun hung sloppy around her face. Even with such a laid back look he still found something comforting and elegant about you.
Her smile is nothing less of contagious as Jimin unknowingly shows her his killer smile.
“Um would you like to be partners?” She asks softly, pushing a strand of hair behind her ear nervously.
This was crazy. He knew she had friends in that class, hell it seemed her whole squad was in there, so for her to pick a total stranger was beyond him.
“Uh…y-yeah sure.” He’s quick to slide over all of his books to the other side of him to give her room as she sits beside him. He watches as she makes herself comfortable, neatly placing her striped pencil case at the edge of the desk, flipping open her notebook.
Her notes were definitely a representation of herself, uniformly color coded. They could make a font with how sharp her penmanship was, Jimin thought.
His stare must have been burning a hole into the side of her head because she caught him staring. He bashfully smiled and turned back towards the teacher. His foot hadn’t stopped its shaking not once since she asked to be his partner.
Stage Two. Fixation. /fikˈsāSH(ə)n/. an obsessive interest in or feeling about someone or something.
The project comes and goes as they slowly adjust into spring, and love is in the air.
He was sprung, high off of the thought of her. Jimin was a chronic user of ___, and there was nothing seasonal about his interest. His eyes were fixated on the curve of her lips as they formed each syllable. He had no idea what exactly was being said but he didn’t mind not one bit. As long as he got to be around her, able to freely gawk he was satisfied.
“Hey you! It’s not polite to stare.” Jimin whips his head around to see a tall blonde with a pink visor strapped around his head approaching.
“If you like her so much why don’t you go talk to her?” His hands are respectively covered with the gardening gloves but it doesn’t seem like he’s broken a sweat with the lack of dirt or sweat coating his form.
A nervous sweat breaks out on Jimin’s brow as he looks from side to side.
“I’m talking to you dude. Hey are you deaf?”
“N-no.”
“Then why didn’t you answer me.” His arms are folded now as he impatiently awaits an answer.
“Because I don’t share my business with strangers.” At this the boy throws on an amused smirk leaning over to whisper in Jimin’s ear.
“What if I told you I could get her over here?” He chuckles at the interest swarming around in Jimin’s eyes.
“I’d like to see you tr-”Jimin can’t even finish his sentence before the boy rushes over to her side.
Jimin stares at him and ___ trying to decipher what is being said but once both their gazes switch over to him he knows he was brought up. Not a moment later they are both making their way over to him. He curses under his breath and shoves the hand shovel into the dirt, furiously digging away at the earth.
“Hey Jimin, Jin said you needed some help?” Her smile has his heart speeding up.
“Uh y-yeah I-I was wondering how exactly I was supposed to plant the seeds.” Jin is standing behind her evil glint in his eyes as he silently laughs at Jimin’s expense. She bends down beside him and he can smell the hard work coming off of her. Something enthralling about the scent has him leaning in a little closer to get a better whiff of her.
“All you have to do is dig a hole about this deep and-”
He tunes her out instead taking in the light sheen of sweat coating her brow. Dirt was painted on every inch of her but she didn’t seem to mind.
“Easy enough?”
“Oh uh yeah thanks.”
“Jin, I expect you to be filthy by the end of the day you got that?”
“Yes ma'am!” He salutes her and she gently pushes his shoulder, urging him to get to work. Once she’s far enough out of earshot Jin bursts into laughter.
Jimin is anything but amused. He glares at Jin, dusting the dirt from his bottom as he stands up.
“Why are you even here if you’re not gonna do any work Jin?”
“I could say the same to you, but I guess I have an idea.” Saying this he turns his head in her direction watching as she talks to fellow volunteers. Jimin huffs a breath out of annoyance chucking his shovel into a nearby bucket and storming off.
Stage Three. Declaration. /ˌdekləˈrāSH(ə)n/. a formal or explicit statement or announcement.
No progress had been made.
The year was nearing its end and he had made no move to further his relationship with her. Aside from the tons of activities he forced himself to join for the sake of being near her, nothing, nada, zilch.
It would be a lie if he said they hadn't gotten close. They’d studied together one on one and in groups. He knew way more about her family than just any old acquaintance, too. The expectations her family full of doctors, lawyers, and politicians had for her. He even knew trivial things that might have slipped out in conversation like her favorite ice cream flavor, pecan butterscotch, and her favorite color.
Gentlemanly manners automatically taking action whenever he was around her. He held doors, made her walk on the inside of the street, even held her bag on occasion.
People around campus thought they were dating, curious as to how the lazy underachiever scored a date with the active overachiever. He was always jumping at the chance to deny such false claims, afraid of scaring her off. He had no idea how hurt she really was at his blunt rejection each time someone asked.
This happened to be one of those times.
They happened to be shopping together when a street vendor unexpectedly stopped them.
“Pretty flowers for your pretty girlfriend?”
“Ah sorry we aren’t together.” Jimin was sporting a sorry expression but the man wasn’t buying it.
“Oh come on no need to be sh-”
“He said we aren’t together now can you please leave us alone?” Her voice was menacing and had the vendor shrinking back over to his stand. Jimin was shocked at how out of character ___ was being, standing there trying to take in what just happened. She didn’t wait for him as she continued walking.
He struggles to keep up with her fierce pace and it turn chooses to jump in front of her.
“What’s your problem? You didn’t have to be so hostile to the poor man.”
“How was I being hostile? I just told him the truth.” Jimin raises both hands in defeat and takes his spot beside her.
“I do not like this side of you.” He says lowly, not for anyone to hear, but she heard.
“Apparently you don’t like any side of me from what you’ve been telling everyone.” She snapped out sharply.
Jimin can’t help but look to her with a brow furrowed in confusion. He had no idea what or where she was going with this.
“I love you, Park Jimin!” She declared suddenly, with no warning.
The street seems to completely go silent as all eyes are on her after hearing such a bold declaration to the blonde haired boy. He was just as shocked as the next guy, never seeing the confession going this way, or coming from her. He subtly pinches his wrist not believing what’s happening right now. The very moment he’s lusted after for so long come and he struggles to find the exact words to respond with.
His silence doesn’t sit well with her as she quickly turns back around and heads into a book store. He comes in after her but she was too fast. When he enters there is no sign of her. He asks around to see if anyone knows where she went but they are no help. He resorts to just scouring the store.
Having looked around ¾’s of the store he finally finds he huddling away in an aisle that might only be known to regulars. Her face is buried in one of those self help books. He would have thought she was actually reading if it weren’t for the barely audible sniveling and the fact the book was upside down.
Not being able to hold it in Jimin’s laugh bubbles out from his throat.
“You think my pain is funny?! Asshole!” She flings the book aiming for his head but he swiftly dodges the hard cover. He walks over and crouches in front of her smoothing down her hair.
“I’m not laughing at you crying. I’m laughing because I’ve loved you for a long time but just never knew when or how to say it, and for you to just blurt it out like that makes me feel like an obsessed idiot for stressing over this.”
The falling of tears slows as she looks up to him like he’s flying. He wraps both of his arms around her, rubbing soothing circles on her back. Once she calms down she sends a punch to his chest.
“Ow what was that for?” He winces out faking hurt.
“That was for making me wait.” She chokes out, half way between laughter and tears.
