“What is reflected in those eyes”
Or, reaction to being called lovers when you’re not together (yet)
Featuring: Fukengaku, Mannendake, Hannya, Hikaru & Dodomeki
Warnings: Slight yandere behaviour (Hannya, Dodomeki), eyeball gore mentioned (Dodomeki)
Note: It gets longer and longer in the back part. No I'm not playing favourites, definitely not
Prologue
You decided to bring them to the modern world and show them all the cool stuff there but was struck with the realisation that they would stick out like a sore thumb in the crowds. After hastily pulling some clothes you hoped would fit them out of your closet (and thankfully they did), you pull them to a nearby mall to shop for new clothes.
While looking around one of the shops, a sales attendant comes up to you and asks, "Are you shopping for clothes with your lover?"
Fukengaku denies it with a smile but if you squint close enough on his face, you would see the red blush that was slowly crawling to the tip of his ears. He isn't embarrassed that a stranger has noticed his obvious affection to you; instead, he is contemplating on whether you would notice it after it was pointed out so suddenly. So, when you tell the attendant that you were simply helping him to shop for clothes as a friend, he mentally sighs and keeps that same smile on his face for the rest of the day.
It's alright, there were no gods nor curses that would tear both of you apart. It's okay to take it slow and steady this time-- although, it would be a lie to say that he didn't think of confessing right there and then when he noticed the same tint of red on your cheeks.
(More underneath!)
Mannendake flat out denies it and filters out everything the attendant says after that. Outside, he looks as calm and collected as ever. Inside, he's panicking harder than the first time he realised that he was in love with you. Was it that obvious to other people? If so, why haven't you noticed it yet?
He musters up the courage to sneak a peek at your face and feels his heart drop a little when you don't seem to give any reaction to being called a couple. He does admire the way that you quickly sweep it under the rug and persuade the attendant to give a discount on one of the shirts that you were planning to buy (like he wasn't eyeing that shirt to begin with) but a part of him can't help but feel disappointed that his crush was acting so nonchalant, as if you really did think of him as a friend.
…. Maybe he should try a different approach in courting you.
Hannya turns towards you with a teasing smile. "Well, are you?"
He laughs when your cheeks flush in an instant, smirking when you slap him on the arm and turn to the attendant while explaining that you were shopping for clothes as friends. He isn't even bothered by the way you emphasise the word friends because your reaction gave him confirmation that you felt the same way towards him. Truthfully, the reason why he agreed to come to the modern world was to learn how the people here confessed to the ones they loved so he could adopt those concepts into the most heart melting, show stopping, romantic confession that was ever confessed so that you would never leave him for another. However, your reaction made him think that for a brief moment, just a brief moment, that you would be alright with a simple three words as long as it came from him.
Well, there was no harm in prolonging this game as long as you were still in love with him or else this could turn ugly very very quickly.
Hikaru yells out a very loud "NO" before turning his face around to hide his extremely red cheeks. Seeing this, you couldn't help but tease him for his adorable reaction but all that results in is a pouty Hikaru that won't talk to you for the rest of the day. The most he would do is hum in agreement or shake his head in disapproval, occasionally throwing you a side look when you asked him to talk as if to say "you did this to yourself".
Was he overreacting? Definitely. Did he feel bad for doing what he did? Slightly. Did he wish that you didn't correct the attendant and say you were just friends? For sure. That was the part that upsetted him the most despite your relationship truly being like that-- at least, that was what it was on the surface. In truth, he had loved you for a long time now and has been meaning to confess for a while but whenever he thought of doing it, the ugly thoughts hit him again. How he wasn't good enough, how untalented he was, how you could never love someone as dirty as him-- however, when you decided to bring him and only him to the modern world, your world, he thought that he at least had a chance since that meant that he was special to you…. Right?
Maybe one day he will be able to push the thoughts aside and tell you how much he longs to be the one by your side until your last breaths. For now, he keeps quiet and hopes that his subtle affections will catch your eye one day.
Dodomeki does what she does best: observe. She tries her best not to stare while observing your reaction but the way her eyes never left your figure since getting here tells a thousand words to the outside eye. The way her lips curl up when she catches the subtle hints of embarrassment delights her greatly, perhaps even more so when you try to hide the embarrassment but she knows you all too well for you to hide anything from her-- not when she's observed you from the shadows for so long that your every thought and reaction is mere child's play for her to guess.
For years, she has tried to understand the love that she saw through the eyes of Master Tamamo's daughter but never did she think that she would fall for someone as hard as that great master had.
However, unlike that great master, she will make sure that you never leave her side nor sight no matter the cost. Even if a pair of eyeballs staring at her would never compare to the way you looked at her with those same eyes.

PLS PLS PLSSSSS keep talking about kids with olympic athletes! gojo and nanami pls pls pls i have to Know. everything u wrote about yuuta was already so so cute
(prev olympics au here)
the gojo twins are hilarious because your baby boy looks exactly like satoru, but has very little of his personality—it seems like the only things he inherited was satoru’s love for sweets and love for you. still, even though he’s a strong swimmer, he much prefers to relax in his floaties alongside you if you’re also in the pool, or chill by your side on a lounge chair, glasses too big for his face keeping the sun out of his eyes as he shares his smoothie with you, and asks to borrow your phone to take pictures of his sister and daddy in the pool.
your baby girl on the other hand… she might have your face but she’s got satoru’s everything else—his competitive streak, his confidence, and definitely his mischievous nature. she’s the one who tiptoes into your bedroom at five in the morning, tapping at her daddy’s shoulders, and putting her little finger over his lip to shush him before he can wake you up; she’s always the one to convince satoru to take her swimming the backyard at the crack of dawn, and why by the time you and your baby boy wake up, she and satoru are already past warm up laps and swimming lessons and onto who can make the splashiest canonball competitions (she always wins because while her tiny body can endure a belly flop, satoru’s years of training physically doesn’t allow him to do it… and maybe because he’s not so competitive when it comes to his baby girl, he’ll always let her win).
kento’s professional judo career honestly doesn’t last very long. after his first olympic games, you two start dating and he proposes just after he wins gold the second time he’s in the olympics; he does maybe two more years of national competitions while you’re pregnant, and decides that the intense training for the next two years in preparation of a third olympic competition isn’t worth missing time he could spend with you or your baby girl—plus, with all the money he’s made from competitions, winning gold medals, brand ambassadorships, commercials, and collaborations, he had enough money to provide for all of your for the rest of your lives. so, that’s what he does (his dream has always been to be a househusband, anyway...) his previous salaryman career comes in handy when deciding how to invest his money, how to buy a house, how to take care of his friends, how to set up a fund for your daughter, and an extra account or two… just incase more babies come along…
by the time your baby girl is four, she’s already kento’s biggest fan. she loudly and proudly proclaims to everybody that her daddy was basically superman and won all the shiny trophies and medals in the house from when he was being a superhero. if anyone recognizes kento when they’re out together, she always confirms their suspicions, proudly boasting, “yeah kento is my daddy! he’s a winner!” it always makes kento’s heart swell to hear her praise. he doesn’t compete professionally anymore, but he does train from time to time, and has taken on a few mentees, and your daughter LOVES to watch him coach/train. she’s got her own uniform that she always puts on whenever they go to the gym together, and gets so excited when kento or ino or yuuji pretend to spar with her.
she’s honestly kento’s mini figure. she’s respectful and reserved, but strong and knows when to fight and how to use her voice. there’s a time when he gets a call from her school saying that she got in a fight, the principal frames it as your daughter needlessly pushing around an older kid, but your daughter is certain in her words when she tells her dad that it was because the kid was being mean to the younger kids, and to her. kento doesn’t say a word to the teachers—doesn’t even fight them sending her home early for the day, because he’s happy to scoop her up and take her out for ice cream and tell her that he’s proud of her.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well!
In your human au, do you imagine Julie and Frank to have a similar relationship to Barnaby and Wally (lifelong platonic partners) or are they more toned down?
In that same vein do you imagine them having something similar in cannon since ik you have your analysis of Julie initially being Frank's love interest, but do you think they can move past that and come back stronger?
Have a great day/night whenever you are 🫶🏽
more toned down, i think! less "i literally cannot imagine a life without you" and more "two stray cats that bonded and are not inseparable". i imagine that Frank & Julie were planning on living in the same town, but they wanted their own living spaces to do with as they please without having to compromise. i like to think that they got neighboring properties - or do they live in the same apartment / condo building? still thinking about everyone's living spaces...
and Yes! i like to adhere to canon as much as possible with my aus. i imagine that when they met in school Julie may have developed a crush on Frank, but has long since grown out of it. and she learned pretty quick that uh... hon... Frank's a lover of men <3

What if Laena Velaryon had been born a boy?
this one is a stumper for me because it changes a LOT (bc, and I cannot emphasize this enough, but Laena is important to the plot and to Rhaenyra as a character!!)
The great council still sides with Viserys because Laenor was alive, and Rhaenys pushed his claim in canon, so having a slightly older son isn't going to do much for that.
Where this really starts to affect the plot is when Viserys is looking to remarry. Laena is pushed forward as the "correct" match because she is Valyrian, and it would soothe Corlys and Rhaenys' ruffled feathers from the GC 101. But if they have no daughters, that clearly doesn't happen. This also means there is straight up no Valyrian woman able to marry and have children except Rhaenyra during this time period which is a little wild (Rhaenys and maybe Jocelyn are alive, but past child bearing years, and these people just refuse to marry Celtigars which is deeply funny). Viserys has some room to pick whoever he wants to marry in this situation though, and I think it's not unlikely that more than Otto tries to take advantage of that (but Otto is still going to win).
HOWEVER. Especially after Rhaenyra is named heir, I think Corlys starts pushing that a boy Laena (obviously she's called Laenor, and probably actual Laenor is called like, Lucerys or something) marries Rhaenyra. I think it's likely he throws himself behind Rhaenyra hard, insisting that Laena and House Velaryon will uphold her claim, protect her birthright, "We Will Be Strong As We Were In Old Valyria By Joining Our Blood", etc etc, and since Viserys is not snubbing Corlys by refusing to marry Laena, I think there’s a non zero chance Laena and Rhaenyra are engaged very young.
But what does this mean for the Dance? Well…
Rhaenyra is probably less hostile to her marriage. Laena is a daring dragon rider who adores his mother & supports Rhaenyra and, most importantly, can give her heirs, so I think Rhaenyra pushes against this marriage much less. However, part of Rhaenyra’s anger over the engagement isn’t just the risk of marrying a man who may not give her children, or easing her father’s political headaches, but the idea that Rhaenyra is not allowed sexual freedom while Daemon and Viserys (and later Aegon) all are. So whether Rhaenyra is hostile to the marriage largely depends on how well she gets on with Laena and whether she feels like has control over her sexuality. In canon they are close, but in canon Laena is a woman and that does make a difference. There’s also The Criston Cole And Daemon Of It All - if Rhaenyra has a fiancé looking out for her, does Rhaenyra get so attached to him? Does whatever happens the night she goes to Daemon & Criston still happen?
It’s all kind of hard to say considering both Eustace and Mushroom are full of shit and Gyldayn is a raging misogynist. And regardless of the fallout of that, what Laena gives Rhaenyra is incredibly important - Valyrian looking heirs. With at the very least a Jacaerys that looks like a Velaryon (because he is by blood this time), a large part of the Greens propaganda falls apart. Yes, she’s a woman, but she has a Valyrian heir with a husband she probably likes & takes an active role in her life, and the unwavering support of the Velaryons. PLUS with the dragon twins gone, that frees Jace up to marry literally anyone - like, say, Helaena! Or potentially, one of the storm sisters! And if anyone gets too cute with Rhaenyra, well, Laena has Vhagar!
Again, the wildcards here are Criston and Daemon. Daemon especially has no way back into the main Targaryen line because there are no Valyrian women for him to marry. I think that makes him much more erratic when Rhaenyra marries, because he can see his hopes of being “accepted” slipping away and he has no other option to turn to.
So….Rhaenyra is theoretically better off by the time her father dies. If she cares for Laena as a man the way she cared for Laena as a woman, she will have the full backing of House Velaryon, a legitimate heir who is free to make a great political match, a husband happy to back her claim, and once again, Vhagar on her side and Aemond defanged. The question is if this marriage stays happy or if it sours because Rhaenyra feels stifled, or Daemon/Cole does something particularly deranged about it at any point.
