I realized a recent sketch I did looked a lot like a capybara. For some reason that compelled me to draw one then I added in a sloth because they are both chill animals that are widely loved. Not sure I like how the background turned out on this one but the animals are the main focus anyway.
As always, comments and critiques are welcome

Still hopeful to get some raccoons in, but here are today's capybara and sloths. :)
One is two toed and one is three toed, for wholesome sloth rep.
The capybara have a dragonfly, a frog, and an orange on their heads respectively.
Off to make dinner!

Note
Two toed sloths and three toed sloths are each others closest relatives, so it’s a little confusing, but they separated 28 million years ago, you know all the extinct giant ground sloths? The two types of modern sloth are basically two different branches of ground sloth that went up in the trees and survived the extinctions that killed all their relatives, some Caribbean sloths also went in the trees independently but went extinct anyway

Prompt 11: Endangered
The Three-Toed Slothfish
For the endangered prompt, in the end, it came down to Just The Zoo of Us episode no. 16, featuring the Blobfish and the Three-Toed Sloth.
Similar to Blobfish, the Three-Toed Slothfish has no swim bladder; relying instead on its mammalian features to swim and navigate through the water. However, unlike its marine counterpart, the slothfish is adapted to living close to the surface and does not need the deep sea-pressure to maintain their proper fishy form.
The slothfish also has an incredibly strong grip, able to sleep hanging from trees, vines, or outcroppings even when their lower half is submerged in my moving water.
They live an incredibly slow-paced lifestyle, relying on blending into their surroundings with the algae and vegetation that grows in their fur to camouflage them from predators.
The need for a particular habitat suited to their lifestyle has been the main factor in leading to its endangered status due to deforestation and habitat loss. It is also vulnerable to invasive predators and even humans who will hunt them as easy targets.
Color Vision:
While I have not colored this creature (yet), I envision their coloring is a good blend between the sloth, covered in algae/freshwater seaweed and a health (underwater) blobfish tail. Sorry, no pink blobby-ness to be found here!
Side note: To learn more about the inspiration behind this series, please check out the captions in any of my first three hybrid animals from this month!

Some non Canadian wildlife I made for Furnal, that have all since found homes. A three toed and two toed sloth, a hyena, and a poison dart frog.
They're all happy smiling creatures, just like me today. @lemoneewonder wonder and I got off the waitlist for Anime North, and you'll be seeing us in Artist Alley.
Which means time to get my hustle on for new pieces! Furnal Equinox wiped out two thirds of my stock, so I've got a big ol todo list for North!
If you'd like a beast in the meantime, please che k.out my currently available critters in the sh 0 p.
