Wow another fictive, is anyone shocked? Jk I’m just second to do one of these.

Heyo, my names Tim, you may or may not know me as the hot one or the angry one I dunno. I’m a fictive of Tim Stoker from TMA, and am dating an out of system Lonely Martin, who is my beloved.

I really enjoy tattoos and tattoo art, as well as the arts in general. Writings good too.

Le bestiaire mythologique du cinéma fantastique

Le cinéma fantastique contient un vaste bestiaire peuplé de créatures maléfiques venues des enfers, de monstres aquatiques ou de l'espace. Chaque entité est née de l'imaginaire de créateurs qui se sont souvent inspirés de la mythologie grecque. Le cinéma met en images et raconte des histoires. Il est donc logique que le septième art invente ses propres légendes et s'inspire  de certains écrits mythologiques d'antan. La sortie de Hellboy de Neil Marshall et de Godzilla 2 de Michael Dougherty est l'occasion de revenir sur les monstres qui hantent les salles obscures depuis des générations.

Aux sources des mythes

La mythologie se compose de mythes, de légendes. Un mythe est une construction imaginaire, souvent intégrée à un récit. Il présente des explications à des phénomènes fictifs ou réels. La mythologie a été transmise par différents vecteurs. La tradition orale a été le premier moyen de transmission des mythes. Les œuvres artistiques ont également été une manière de représenter des mythes et des légendes : la littérature, la peinture... Le cinéma est sans doute l'un des derniers supports artistiques à transmettre les mythes. Au cinéma, ils sont multiples. Ils peuvent être le fait d'un personnage, d'un objet de fiction. Les comédiens, réalisateurs qui font autorité dans leurs domaines respectifs sont aussi parfois présentés  comme « mythiques ».

Mythologie du mal

Le mal est une source d'inspiration inépuisable pour tous les supports artistique. La littérature a notamment puisé dans la mythologie grecque qui comprenait des récits de personnages ( créatures ) maléfiques. Les arts plus largement se sont influencés de tout ce pan mythologique grec et cela est devenu un vecteur de création.

Le comic américain Hellboy a été conçu grâce aux légendes et aux mythes. Son créateur Mike Mignola écrit et dessine son propre récit légendaire par l'intermédiaire de son personnage éponyme Hellboy. L'histoire raconte l'union entre un dieu des enfers et une humaine qui donne naissance à une créature démoniaque. Le monstre est réveillé en 1944 par les Nazis afin d'utiliser ses pouvoirs pour gagner la Seconde Guerre mondiale. L'invocation ne se passe pas comme prévue. Le garçon des enfers est recueilli par l'armée américaine. Une fois adulte, le démon intègre les services secrets gouvernementaux pour lutter contre les menaces paranormales. Mike Mignola confronte son héros à de méchantes créatures qui menacent la Terre. L'artiste va à contre-courant de la figure mythologique du mal. Hellboy est un démon devenu source de bien. Mignola croit au changement d'orientation, de pensée avec l'éducation, que le mal absolu ( le diable ) peut être maîtrisé et devenir bienveillant.

Un autre héros de comic joue sur ce même paradoxe : l'homme chauve-souris, Batman, créé par Bob Kane en 1939. La même année, le héros intègre pour la première fois le comic book Detective comics. En 1989 sort sur les écrans la première adaptation cinématographique du super héros Batman. Les studios Warner confient la réalisation de ce projet à Tim Burton. Ce dernier  transpose le comic à son univers gothique et baroque, loin des tons très colorés du comic originel. Ce parti pris est sans doute la grande force de ce Batman. Le héros a deux identités : celle de Bruce Wayne, héritier milliardaire à la tête d'une entreprise puissante Wayne Entreprise, et le justicier masqué qui sort la nuit sous les traits d'une chauve-souris afin d'éradiquer la criminalité. Tim Burton utilise la symbolique du monstre pour mettre en lumière ce personnage.  Pour le cinéaste, Batman n'est pas un héros, mais un monstre. Il incarne la terreur. Tim Burton utilise la chauve-souris comme symbole du mal, car le réalisateur renvoie Batman à la figure du vampire, en écho au mythe du comte Dracula. Tim Burton revisite le mythe de Batman en s'inspirant des films des studios de la Hammer qui mettaient en scène des héros démoniaques et un environnement profondément gothique.

Au milieu des années 1950, les studios anglais de la Hammer rayonnent. Ils produisent et réalisent des films d'horreur avec des « héros » récurrents :  Dracula, la momie, le loup garou, Frankestein... La Hammer revisite des classiques de la littérature, par exemple pour Dracula, ceux de Bram Stoker et autres qui ont contribué à la naissance du mythe. Les studios rencontrent une crise dans les années 1970.  Ils n'arrivent plus à se renouveler et à s'adapter à la demande des spectateurs de l'époque. La fin d'un règne s'est faite sentir pour la Hammer. Cependant, le style est en partie ressuscité par les réalisateurs Joe Dante, John Carpenter, Francis Ford Coppola qui ont hérité de l'influence de ces studios et ont donné un coup de fouet à ces personnages mythiques.

Les mythes du mal reviennent hanter les salles de cinéma de manière inédite à la fin des années 1960, notamment avec La nuit des morts-vivants de George Romero. Ce dernier donne naissance à une nouvelle forme mythologique au mal : les morts-vivants. Cette figure fait écho à la peur de la mort chez l'Homme. Elle s'interroge également sur la résistance de la vie. Les morts-vivants ou zombies offrent une formidable métaphore sur ce que peuvent devenir les vies dans des sociétés infectées par la mort.

Les mythes du mal prennent parfois la forme d'une menace inconnue. The Thing de John Carpenter traite de ce sujet avec l'arrivée d'une menace extérieure invisible provenant de l'espace. Elle contamine toute une équipe de chercheurs en Alaska. Ceux-ci sont confrontés à une transformation physique monstrueuse. Le monstre Godzilla ou Gojira appartient également à cette forme de menace d'origine inconnue. Cette figure emblématique du cinéma populaire japonais repose sur la peur du nucléaire dans un Japon d'après-guerre, traumatisé par l'attaque atomique de 1945. En effet, le monstre vient d'un reptile, qui se transforme en monstre géant après des essais nucléaires dans l'océan Pacifique.

Les mythes cinématographiques du mal renvoient les spectateurs à toutes les formes de peurs, à partir de sujets réels ou totalement fictifs. Les monstres sont toujours des représentations fictives et ils servent souvent de prétexte à des sujets de réflexions sociétaux.
