It was embarrassing.

Watching two grown men argue over who would drive you home from the lively, neon-lit bar led to a bashful flush, warming your body amidst the crisp darkness of the night.

Only minutes prior, Max had taken one look at you and decided home was where you should be. You didn't make any protests because he's right; you wonder if you looked like a book to Max—pages crinkled, broken spines, and easily read words in his favorite font.

"I can take my fucking girlfriend home, Max," your boyfriend, Scotty, seethes through gritted teeth, an ugly vein bursting on his forehead.

Scotty evidently did not like the idea of Max driving you home for a reason you had no idea of. You and Max had been friends for years, so if even an ounce of your yearning and want was reciprocated, he would've done something by now.

That thought did little to dwindle the stubborn 'what if's from gnawing at your soul, the twinge in your heart whenever you see Max with anyone but yourself.

And also the slight guilt at thinking of another man when you have a perfectly fine one waiting at home for you each night but. Whatever.

"I swear to fucking God if you get into that car with her--"

Eyes widening, you place a calming hand on Max's shoulder and ignore the daggers your boyfriend is glaring at your touch. "Okay, how 'bout we all relax, yeah?"

Max cranes his neck to look at you, his harsh facade melting when he catches sight of the worry etched on your face. Once his heaving turned into steady breathing, your face ducking shyly to look away from his gaze, your boyfriend cleared his throat loudly.

You hastily drop your hand like the Dutch had burned you, and Max lets out a disapproving noise at the loss of your contact. Yeah, Scotty did not look impressed. The murderous glint in his eyes did nothing to quell the uncomfortable atmosphere, his jaw flexing like he's capable of murder, of tearing Max's limbs off and letting the blood spill on the pavement.

"Scotty...to be fair, you did drink, and I don't really feel like dying tonight."

A hand creeps around Max's waist, your fingertips pinching the flesh after you hear him snort. A barely concealed yelp from the driver has Scotty scrunching his nose up in distaste, nostrils flared, and betrayal painted across his face.

You should probably side with your boyfriend, but. But the cool breeze makes the tiny hairs on your arms stand up, teeth chattering; you wrap the thin, barely-there jacket Max gave you at the beginning of the night and roll your eyes, walking to Max's car.

Fondly, Max observes the impatient tapping of your foot and flush on your face—from the cold, he tells himself, not for the same reasons as himself. He raises his brows tauntingly at Scotty before advancing towards your shaky frame.

"Fuckin' bitch," Scotty mutters into the air, lips pursed into a scowl and vodka overriding his senses.

Your ears don't quite grasp the words, but Max's do. So, when the world champion's fist paves the way for the colorful hues of a bruise to bloom on the bridge of your boyfriend's nose, you can't help but choke on a gasp.

It's done! Only took like 12 hours

This thing is AWESOME I love it. What a fucking behemoth of a set. I had to completely rethink where to put it and move some other sets around but now it sits proudly atop my bookshelf, opposite of my bed. It looks great up there <3 (not sure about the placement of the other stuff, I'll work on it tomorrow when I'm less tired

The license plate written in both English and ninjargon is the cutest

Little compass on top of the steering wheel and map on the inside of the third floor. There's also supposed to be some other thing that I think is a navigation tool but I'm missing it (the curse of being clumsy)

Unfortunately I lost a few pieces or just didn't get them but luckily its nothing too important or structural, you can barely tell if you don't know what you're looking for. The only important thing I'm missing is the Jay minifig but I knew about that before I bought it. Idk I might end up buying him separately just so I have them all but I'm not too upset. I think I'm gonna take a break before I start working on my next set.

I like to think Bonnie often goes off on his guitar during live performances (leaning towards it sounding like heavy metal) n often forgets he's playing for children LMAO

The kids love it regardless but the gangs like "dude again?" His longest solo was like a good 3 minutes...

He craves to have artistic freedom, I'm assuming the rest do as well tbh

Imagine hearing Freddy practicing his vocals, since we see chica shredding her guitar in her spare time I wonder if he dose the same?

I bet Freddy also likes to help whichever staff member is doing heavy lifting n he sees them struggling with the cargo n just goes "Oh please it's the least I can do! You all do so much for us, I wouldn't want you to hurt yourselves."

Also likes to help because Freddy has trouble just doing nothing...he needs to be doing something!

Or else he gets a bit antsy

Which is why he loves conversing n little tasks!

Bonnie calls the people closest to him "Carrot cake" bc he loves it sm and he loves them sm

In terms of the OG Trio I see chica being the one they protect the most like that's their baby sister to them 🥺♥️

Bonnie gets excited hearing stories that the staff members tell him (if he's friends with em) about the outside world...

He LOVE'S it when they share their favorite music with him! He likes to analyze the guitar solos n usually that sneaks into the next concert hehe

He wants to go outside so bad...he often looks outside any windows and wishes he could just step outside for a bit...

This is also something I think the rest have in common.

They are happy working with the kids! They love their job! They would just like to feel the sun n quite literally touch grass...at least once!

Going back to Bonnie loving carrot cake he dose actually have a slight problem with it similar to chica...just don't leave your slice unattended with him, like a magic trick it'll disappear ✨

I like to think Bonnie originally didn't have eye liner but he saw one of the staff members have some on and he just told them "I want that! Can you put that on me?!" And ever since then it's been a part of his iconic look

Freddy laughs to hard at simple jokes like dad jokes kill him, which is why when he tells them sometimes he can't finish the joke 💀

His laugh is so cute n contagious 😭♥️

Everyone groans but they laugh at Freddy's reaction anyways

Bonnie's laugh is dorky, he snorts on occasion and the others call him out n he gets embarrassed

All in good fun of course!

If Bonnie were to blush I like to imagine that his whole face goes red like you can always tell when he's flustered hehe

Honestly I believe Freddy has that classy rizz, like he's such a gentleman, he'd court you properly is all I'm saying

As for Bonnie he's flirty, if he likes you he'll be teasing you a lot

He likes to bully his crush a tiny bit by making em all flustered, and yes he challenges you to bowling quite often!

It's his favorite bonding activity what can you do

He's such a good teacher for bowling too! Has to be for the kiddos of course!

All in all these boys have a heart of gold

They'll inspire you in some way n leave you feeling happy! And you do the same for them! Their still learning how to modify their hugging power tho!

But Reader just knows what to say and how to act so that Aemond is wrapped around her finger (kinda thought of Margaery and Joffrey situation, she was such a talented schemer, worthy of winning the Throne 😭). My take: This is by far one of the best things I've read recently. The way the author paints Aemond's trauma and internal turmoil is brilliant yet simple, effortless, and without making the story too dark. The way his wife helps him work through it is beautifully realistic. I've been through a similar struggle and was surprised how much I resonated with it. Beautiful, lovely, sexy - a must-read. Chapter count: 3/3. Summary: Aemond's first experience at a brothel left him scarred and with deep-seated performance anxiety, because it takes him a long time to climax. After a disastrous wedding night, his wife and him work on ways to build up his confidence and finally consume their union. The smut, the angst, and the fluff are 10/10. Chapter count: 7/7. Summary: She loves this little game of theirs, taking what they can from each other with the brief moments they have. Mind, this story can be extremely triggering so heed the author's warnings before you proceed. Chapter count: 8/8. Summary: Only nine and ten, she does not know much about the world and when she acquires a job at the Red Keep as a maidservant, she catches the dark and ominous attention of the One-Eyed Prince. Unsure if she even wants it, she may realise that the realm is not so kind to lowborn women, regardless of the situation they find themselves in. I'll be eating those long chapters up as they come out because the very first one is already a master piece. Enemies to lovers? Check. Reluctant skating partners? Check. Unavoidable physical touch? Check. Hate turns into thick sexual tension? Check. There is not a reason for anyone not to read this. On top of that, we dive into the sexism and nepotism of the sports industry. Chapter count: 10/10 + Epiloque Summary: Striving for a place in the Olympics, Aemond desperately needs to find another partner to step in when his becomes injured. With little experience in couples figure skating as well as Aemond’s closed-off and antisocial nature, it will be a challenge to work with him. Highly recommend you read the one shot, Unsteady, also featured in this library in the one shot section, which led to this incredible series. Chapter count: 7/7. Summary: In return for help to come back to your home world, you have been faithfully supporting the Greens to put Aegon on the throne. But when your promise is fulfilled, neither Otto nor Aemond are keen on letting you go. It has a bit of dark themes, nothing too far off what we see in canon, but the way the author tells it makes it light-hearted and so much fun. Every turn of it is so unexpected, I'm surprised I really can't tell what's coming next in a genre where we read for comfort, which usually means we at least generally know what to expect. Wonderful. Also a very unique portrayal of Aemond. Just love the way you tell it! Chapter count: 3/3. Summary: Caught in the crossfire of your familiy's ploys, you never expected to catch the eye of the enemy. Flora: The Thesis

I had a feeling Flora would win, I’ve put my girlie through a lot, let’s do this!

THERE WILL BE MAJOR SPOILERS AFTER THE FIRST THINGS FIRST PORTION, IF YOU HAVEN’T MADE IT TILL CHAPTER 17 OF SEASON 3 (They Live in Spain but the S is Silent) DO NOT READ PAST THE FIRST SECTION

I’M SERIOUS, MAJOR FUCKING SPOILERS FOR FLORA’S CHARACTER ARC/PLOT POINTS AFTER THAT PART

First Things First

The first words that I wrote on Flora’s character sheet to sum up her character was in the OG are: kind, gentle mom-friend.

To me Flora in the original was kind of a breath of fresh air, seeing a soft girl get to also be a fighter was awesome (even if I feel like she was the one that was most often knocked out/down, cue the 84 times Flora nearly died compilation videos)

But… she was also a lot of wasted potential since I feel like she never really got her own storylines, or at least nothing interesting and her powers were never explored beyond plants despite being a fairy of nature, not plants.

Also, I found it weird that they just… dropped her love for making potions after season 1 or 2. Like… for what?

Those are a few of the grievances that I wanted to try and make better in my rewrite. Also, Flora was always my fave so I wanted to give her the attention she was deprived of (though, I reiterate, I do really try to pay attention to all 6 girls and, for the most part, am successful, but Flora will occasionally get just a little more attention)

Flora’s main character traits towards the beginning of the rewrite are: gentle, unsure and kind.

The first time we see Flora in the rewrite, she is seen to be very kind and maybe even a tiny bit conformational, quickly telling Bloom that she’ll switch sides and move plants if she wants her to.

She doesn’t really know how to put her foot down, she’ll be working on it but not truly implementing it until season 2.

I think a lot of people’s first impression of Flora would be that she’s a bit naive and even weak, that’s the thing with Flora.

Whilst her softness was forged in steel, it can deteer her from time to time and she easily feels guilty if she can’t make everyone happy. She has people pleaser tendencies that she’s working on.

I feel like in season 1 her softness walks a fine line between being a strength of hers and nearly being a weakness.

Being soft isn’t what what can be to her determent, it’s letting people cross her boundaries.

I also took her love for potions and ran with it, she is a potions prodigy and the teams main healer. She’s very dedicated to school and it shows in her work with potions.

Her main traits stay mostly the same over the seasons. There is still kindness and softness at her core, but overtime she is no longer unsure, she learns how to put her foot down and respect her own boundaries and really just stepping into her own and becoming more powerful and comfortable in her own skin.

She Doesn’t Succumb, She Overcomes

Flora grows a lot over the first 2 and a half seasons

One thing she overcomes, asides from learning to set boundaries and that she’s allowed to not forgive, she also overcomes a fear of being loved.

Flora has a lot of bad luck when it comes to people in her life fucking her over. Her biological father abandoned her and her mom and took all their resources with him, her first boyfriend assaulted her and then her first girlfriend Mirta breaks up with her to get back together with Lucy.

And then, in season 2, Bloom betrays her while being influenced by Darkar.

So… Flora is reasonably afraid when it comes to new people in her life. Especially people she falls for.

That’s where Helia came in. But I’m getting ahead of myself.

In season 3, THIS IS WHERE THE MAJOR FUCKING SPOILERS COME IN TURN BACK RIGHT FUCKING NOW I DID NOT BREAK MY BRAIN FOR ONE OF MY FAVORITE PLOT POINTS IN THE REWRITE FOR YOU TO JUST SPOIL IT FOR YOURSELF THIS IS YOUR LAST FUCKING WARNING, Flora suffers a major setback in her journey due to two big events.

First off, Sky choses her to burn while under Valtor’s curse and then, her powers seem to morph into something that she cannot understand and that she is afraid of.

This sets her back when it comes to finally being comfortable in her own skin… literally and being more confident.

She is terrified that her friends will turn their backs on her again to take Sky’s side. This fear is quickly quenched by Bloom making it clear on who’s side she’d be on if it came down to it but it still obviously affects Flora and we still haven’t gotten the talk between her and Sky, because she is still not ready to face him properly

Her scars are a side effect of this betrayal and she still has a long way to go before being able to show them

The other set back is in her powers after gaining Enchantix, where all of a sudden, it is a lot harder to make things bloom and heal people and rotting and withering things comes a lot more naturally.

We’ve gotten a bit of an explanation during the Crystal Labyrinth as to why this is the case but she still has a lot to learn in s4 about her new powers.

Thoughts Behind her Main Relationships

Aisha: Aisha is her best friend, their friendship is one of softness and getting out of their comfort zones. It’s the extrovert/introvert balanced friendship that helps them both feel more comfortable in their own skin.

Their friendship is, ‘you’re my safe place. I see you and I breath a little easier. You know me so well I only have to lift an eyebrow and you know exactly what I mean.’

Their friendship is ‘we’ve both been through complete and utter loneliness and we’re both afraid of people leaving but when I’m with you it all just fades away because your heart and my heart are made of the same material. Your softness will always bring me comfort and you’re familiar in a way that makes me want to weep because of how safe I feel at your side’

Helia: These two are just… two people trying to heal from their respective pasts but… okay so, they are two people who’ve been through a lot and have already been on their journey to healing or a while now and know their triggers and what helps them and just find calm and safety with one another.

It’s, ‘we’re both pulling ourselves back together after the worst events of our lives and you make me feel like all of it will never drown me and I know that my soul has known your soul for a very long time.’

But… while they are both on their way to healing, they’re both still scared.

Flora is afraid of someone she falls for hurting her yet again. Helia is afraid of not being able to connect with people, of the people he loves not wanting him.

They find comfort in each other’s love.

In each other, they find understanding and safety. They help each other on their healing journeys.

They’ll never turn away from each other even on the bad days.

Riven: Riven and Flora are soulmates. I have no other word to describe their bond. Even soulmates doesn’t feel like it can fully encompass their bond and how important they are to one another.

They have similar fears and traumas, though they respond in wildly different ways. He can’t let himself be vulnerable, she can’t stand her ground. But they find each other and somehow, they start healing and growing together

Their bond is ‘there are people that you just have to meet in order to become the best version of yourself and I know that if I hadn’t met you I would never have been able to become my best self. There are people that just have something to teach you just by knowing them, there are people that love you so purely that you can do nothing but want to grow with them and teach each other so much just by existing together. And you know that if there are other lives, you’ve met them in every past life and will meet them in every future life because you own a piece of each others puzzles that you both need to complete yourselves.’

Their love is absolutely pure, I just love it and can’t quite find the words to describe just how special it is.

Who is Flora in this rewrite?

Flora is a girl who wasn’t born to be a heroine, who had plenty of excuses to be angry, who had plenty of reasons to lash out at the world. If it’d been anyone else, they might’ve turned out a villain.

But she doesn’t. She doesn’t allow her pain and trauma to be the things that define her. They are a big part of who she is, there is no denying that, but it’s not what made her. She made herself. She made the conscious decision time and time again to chose love and softness and kindness.

She’s someone who’s on the verge of being a doormat before we meet her in s1, and who is working since s1 to be better at setting boundaries, to turn her softness into one of her biggest strengths and not just a trait that occasionally bites her in the ass.

She’s someone who is growing into herself, leaning that, while she has to grow, she doesn’t have to change her main traits to be stronger. To be respected.

She’s exploring both her powers and her softness.

Flora is both one of the softest and the strongest characters in this rewrite. She learns that those two don’t have to be mutually exclusive.

Flora is growth, not change. She doesn’t succumb, she overcomes. She’s not unscathed, but she is healing.

mikey & kazutora. (eventually mitsuya too) the regressors of the og group. baji is more of an age dreamer and he is a caregiver for tora. draken being mikey's main carer. he also looks after mitsuya. Pah is the biggest flip I've ever seen, he loves regressing with others but he can also be that big brother you need when going into the city

mikey usually regressed around 6, kazutora is a younger bab about 2-3 and mitsuya regressed older like 8 (he doesn't let himself regress younger, he can though)

baji is also a caregiver! (one if the most lax and chaotic) he loves taking his kids to parks and whatever outing they like. his favorite are walks through the neighborhood, playing games like ispy or making up story's about strangers they see.

sanzu, oh my moon he's a regressor. baby regressor, oh so teeny tiny. he can't remember a life without violence and gangs. it helps him, when bonten!mikey gives them a weekend off he finds himself high only once or twice. he doesn't look for that kind of distraction as much.

ran and rindo, ran is the regressor, always manages a little but of tiny time before bed. but he always finds himself slipping when he's sleepy. he loves sweets too. big bro rin has to keep ran away from to many lest he suffer a tummy ache.

rin also enjoys the change of pace, finally getting to be more 'in charge' and he looks after his brother instead of it being the other way around. (they act like it's mutual but it's ran lookin after rin)

oh my moon. IZANA? yeah he's in the babypile too. never. I mean never let's himself regress around others, only kakucho. and even then it's kinda just small habits. letting his guard down and just having fun in the city w his best friend !

So what about Dragon Quest Monsters? One of my favorite series.... if you consider being obsessed with 2.5 gameboy games and wanting to try all the others "favorite" material :P

So Joker was "fine". It wasn't my favorite by any means- most of the changes from 1-2 were "meh" to me, but I did enjoy it enough to complete it with a pretty decent amount of fun being had.

Joker 2's intro got me hyped! It really felt like something I'll love!

So how about instead of playing Joker 2 as I logically would- I go backwards a little and play Caravan Hearts instead lmao

I know very little about Caravan Hearts, as I've hinted at before on the blog (if you count mentioning it in passing like 4 years ago).

I "Think" it's one of those games I booted up in the early 2000s when emulation started getting more popular, in japanese of course being a japan exclusive and all, but I could be mixing it up with me booting up FF legends and the like.

The most I know is that a fellow DWM enjoyer said it was crap many years ago when I was playing some DWM stuff on the blog, and I took that to mean it's "probably" experimental and easy to dislike lol

Starting it up I'll say I'll be playing the fan translation, obviously, from kaioshin on Romhacking dot net. Any "funny business" in dialogue or re-interpretations of events is because it's a fan translation and I will be experiencing it as it is here, not as the original text defines the game because they never bothered to tell us this tale in english and I'm dumb and can't read the OG lol

Basic intro, we're a kid (10 years old) who craves adventure. Instead of being native to a monster world (2) or coming here because our sibling was kidnapped to be a monster master (1) we come to the monster world to escape punishment from our father- the king- after trying to escape the castle to explore the (reportedly) very tiny world we live in.

Basically we're a bored prince who craves adventure, and we stumbled into an opportunity to do that while hiding in our cabinet... a fun nod to DWM1 :3

Yada yada, in the monster world now, oh look a caravan lacking a leader:

What a coincidence, we just magically appeared here and listening to kids in RPG settings is normal as hell.

So right out the gate things DO appear rather different from the prior DWM games I love.

The caravan is key to combat for one, and our team appears to be entirely shaken up from how the prior games played it.

Instead of befriending and capturing 3 monsters to make a team and splitting up responsibilities among those 3 monsters for cohesive RPG party stuff- it /appears/ that we will always have ONE monster who takes the main stage for combat (kind of like DQ1?) and the caravan plays the role of... equipment? Passives? I guess you'd call them?

You have various adventurers in the party who don't directly participate but instead act as assistant abilities during combat- I am too early in to know how deep or how much control I have just yet, but I can pick what order they appear and from how the first encounters went it APPEARS as if the order determines when they get a turn to assist (if applicable), MAYBE.

Regardless it means I have a warrior who can swing an extra time for some more damage, a cleric who can heal if their "turn" comes up and we need it, and a map expert who can buff(?) our speed during his turn and also gives us the passive ability to use the map on the overworld.

This, could be neat.

It could also feel like a less hands on version of a combat system that was already kinda hands off since I'm only leveling up 1 party member and the other party members are not /real/ and instead are just passives that happen based on order (I think).

Hm. Looking forward to finding out!

SUOL-nim Season 4 Livestream recap!

Season 3's recap

This time she's streaming on Youtube instead of Twitch! However, the VOD will still not be saved afterward.

As speculated, the cover is Winter and Siyeon(our transmigrator FL), with the necklace Winter gave her in the caves :)

volume 6 will be out this summer(approximately)

Unfortunately, she doesn't know when the English translation will be licensed since it's between Gyeoeul-nim and the publisher,,

Her voice is so nice... she speaks Korean, English, and Japanese too!

Return of the pink underlayer for the magenta hair!

She talked a little about the Alice in Wonderland dress! The color was specified in the novel as "sky-blue", and SUOL-nim thought it would be fitting for Siyeon to wear such a dress while adventuring with our White Rabbit, Winter

Ahh I had to leave the house for a few hours so the stuff below are all my panicked notes. Some of these are out of order, sorryyy

SUOL-nim showed us the concept arts of the characters individually.

Fun fact, Siyeon and OG!Penelope's concept art has them wearing the same colored shoes, but Siyeon's shoes have low heels, almost like flats.

She says that out of all the characters, Callisto is the hardest to draw. This is especially since his golden hair has narrative importance and the aesthetic is hard to nail down.

The webtoon is mostly SUOL-nim's own work! She doesn't really speak to Gyeoeul-nim about work matters or help in adapting some scenes.

It takes her a week to finish a chapter, so she doesn't really have a "backlog" of progress. This is also why there's an extra week of break after four weeks.

One of the most memorable changes she made in the adaptation was changing the Empire's name from "Inca" to "Eorka". She reasoned that because "Inca" is the name of a real Empire, it would be confusing. Thus, she changed it.

The anagram of "Eorka" to "Korea" was completely accidental.

She has an Instagram for her SUOL account(like how she has a personal and a work Twitter) but has no plans on using it since her Twitter is overwhelming.

She doesn't have a favorite dress, but one of the ones she's especially attached to is the white Goddess dress since most of Penelope's wardrobe is dark.

She shows her folders occasionally, and we get little peeks of concept art for characters like Ivonne, the assassins, Penelope's male disguise, Cedrick, Emily's Hunting Competition dress, Winter's layered clothing, and minor characters, as well as the tiny bird monsters.

She also showed the dress concepts for Season 3!

In addition, we got to see a rendered concept of Penelope(think the promotional portrait) as well as a version of that style for Reynold and Penelope's faces in her folders.

There was also a WIP with Eckles and Penelope, perhaps a small illustration she scrapped, hasn't released yet, or just a concept.

We also got to see a silly doodle of Penelope, a redraw of a Crayon Shin-Chan frame(it's a popular kids manga/anime in East Asia).

The original was Shin-Chan trying to decide between a few identical outfits; the VADD version is the one where Penelope is surrounded by objects representing each ML.

The ointment from Reynold, the scroll from Callisto, Winter's mask, Eckles' collar, and Derrick's bird cage.

Her rendering is immaculate; Siyeon glows off the page.

The info after this is second-handed since I'm still sick and I fell asleep an hour before it ended ;-; but my throat is killing me and my ears were ringing

For the top row, SUOL-nim drew a Penelope, an Eckles getting dressed, and a sulky baby Reynold in a onesie. To the right of him is a doodle of him and Derrick in high chairs, with the Duke and a heavily pregnant Duchess watching over them.

On the bottom row, we have Emily in a noblewoman's dress and a fan with her hair pinned up(with feathers!), the head butler Pennel, and an overworked salaryman Cedrick on his phone.

Edit: He's chatting about Callisto with his feet on the table while thinking about strangling Callisto loll.

The stream was approximately 6 hours long!

Also, something she reiterated for a bit: Season 4 is planned to come out in August/September. The dates are tentative but she wants to get it out to us by that period.

It was nice seeing a lot of the discord and tumblr crew!!

Also, the stream tea: SUOL-nim requested that we translate our comments that weren't in Korean, English, or Japanese since she has to moderate the chat still and she doesn't want to feel left out of her own stream. Even if it's conversing amongst themselves, they should still translate.

A group of Arabic-speaking viewers actively ignored her and there were small fights in chat, and she even addressed this issue TWICE.

And in the end they still didn't do it, so... PLEASE RESPECT SUOL-nim's stream rules! At the end of the day, it's still HER stream! She has to moderate it! Don't make it unnecessarily difficult for streamers to stream!

so, Pokemon Journeys ended...

it’s funny that Satoshi is retiring now.... The OG anipoke series was my introduction to pkmn when I was a very tiny kid (4 years old!), then I only watched bits and pieces of episodes randomly caught on TV, but I really got into Journeys as an adult.... I watched the first and last series for Satoshi without knowing they are that asdfgfds but for real, Journeys felt like a perfect wrap-up for anipoke as it was - pretty much every past companion came back/was mentioned, we saw what they’re doing and what they plan to do in the future, Satoshi formed probably the deepest bond he’s ever had with someone (thank you Gou you are king), and Gou was the epitome of what pokemon as a franchise stands for - catching them all! We saw Satoshi become a world champion, we saw legendary pokemon, we had adventures and thrills and lovable new characters and cozy slice-of-life episodes... I’m so grateful for Journeys being there for me every week, and no matter how shitty the week was, listening to 1 2 3 never failed to make me smile. also it’s nice to think Gou will be remembered as Satoshi’s last companion. The boy was his best friend, his perfect match, and it sucked so much watching all the hate directed at him for no reason at all... Gou deserved so much more, his character resonated with me, even though I’m a full-grown adult and he’s an animated 10 year old... I saw bits of my younger self in him, and I’m proud to say he is my favorite pokemon character. I’d love to see more of him, I’d love for Journeys to continue, but if it has to end, I’d much rather it ends with both Gou and Satoshi leaving. That way I can imagine them post-canon; the ending reaffirmed their deep bond, and I’m sure their journies will intertwine once more soon enough edit: so... Gou, Satoshi and Koharu are all in the same area in the aftercredits?? holy shit reunion came sooner than I thought asdfgdfg

But then it seemed to dissappear into the mists of time. Femslash weekend has brought it back in abundance though and I am screaming with joy.

2. First ever ship: Daiken/Kensuke.. Daisuke Motomiya and Ken Ichijouji from Digimon season 2. My OG sunbeam and soggy raincloud. I'll still wander back from time to time a read a fanfic or two.

4. Last movie: Werewolf by Night. I'll admit I'm suffering immensely from Superhero fatigue. But I adore Marvel's ventures into the supernatural. Werewolf by Night has become a staple halloween film for me. And I have rewatched Moonknight soooooo many times.

5. Currently reading: I think I've done an ask about what book I'm reading fairly recently. So instead, I'm on Adult fanfiction.net...remember that? Revisiting some of my favorite Book Sherlock Holmes x John Watson fanfics that never made the journey across to AO3.

6. Currently watching: The Fall of the House of Usher. It's not October for me without a Mike Flanagan series. And I'm giving True Detective a try. Gritty southern gothic x lovecraftian vibes.. It's perfection!

7. Currently eating: A vanilla custard slice... Tasty, indulgent and infamous for reducing grown ass adults to toddler levels of eating. 😆 It is not possible to consume these things genteelly. All part of their charm.

Thanks for being patient! I had trouble with choosing which narration and dialogue to take from this fic and there are not that many things that didn’t show spoilers for something in the story. Just a reminder also that this is from my rough drafts so expect grammar fails waaaahhh!

Kaleidoscope

(canon compliant from s1 to galaxy; a queer story; taking place 1 year after the events of inago)

3: What's your favorite line of narration?

Context: Endou is not and will not be romantically involved with Gouenji in this story. He’s married to Natsumi like in canon and that’s not about to change or will ever be implied to be challenged. Both Natsumi and Endou are not straight nor monogamous too.

In this scene, it’s the dead of the night. Raimon Eleven (go) had an overnight camping in the school (like the og did in s1 before the match vs Zeus). Something came up and Gouenji was his last saving grace but he was angry to be called for something unserious when he thought there was an emergency (he’s wearing jacket over his sleeping clothes even as he rushed to get there). Endou then “weaponizes” his doe eyes on Gouenji. I love this because it’s so silly and doesn’t reveal much of the plot but does say a lot about their bond.

Raimon Eleven just saw their coach at his most pitiable and couldn’t react. All they knew was that if he ever used that on them, they’d fold immediately; that’s not a sight they could stand to watch. That being said, the legendary flame striker’s gait was not only unaffected but had also become more fierce than they remember; eyes glinted and jaw hardened. Anxiety rose from them as they watched Gouenji’s face hard and uncaring… until he breathed. Sighed. “Well, I’m already here, aren’t I?” He begrudgingly closed his eyes and slipped his hands inside his pockets. The frightened team collectively sighed in relief, Gouenji seemed to calm down. Just when they were about to lower their guard, a blinding light came from their coach’s face. “Gouenji, you really are heaven's gift to me!” Endou beamed at the unimpressed striker. He clung to his arm in full splendor and what the kids would only call a desperate act of placation.  “Thank you so much!!” Some sensed a tiny change in Gouenji’s expression. He impassively let himself get dragged by his best friend without making an effort to push him away. The audience looked at the scene for a while before making a move. “Well, there’s a sight.” Without vocally acknowledging Kurama’s observation, the players all soundlessly followed the two to the scene of the crime.

4: What's your favorite line of dialogue?

I’m giving you two of them because I cannot choose!!

1. Context: [This one is still a script] This scene takes place in the opening of the first Football Frontier since Holy Road was abolished and Gouenji is still the chairman of youth soccer. He went to where the Raimon Eleven was waiting for Haruna in the parking lot riding a motorbike with her at the back before going to the stadium’s VIP room.

Endou: Yo! Shouldn’t you be even earlier than us, Chairman? *teases* Gouenji: *opens his helmet; voice muffled; makes no move to turn off engine or get off* I’m considered early, you know. Otonashi: *just takes helmet off as she jumps off* I’m sorry! That was on me!! You went out of your way for me, Gouenji-san! Gouenji: *raises his brow* Like I said, I'm considered early still. He just wanted me to be late. Endou made a loud chuckle that some were convinced echoed in the whole parking lot. Gouenji: See? *extends one of his arm to take the helmet from Haruna and hangs it on the throttle* He's just counting on me being late for something all the time. - other dialogues that I can’t reveal yet - Gouenji: *looks at the signages* This is far away from the entrance I should be using. See you later, everyone. *looks around as if looking for where he should be going then turns the throttle* Endou: Make me dinner if you do get late!! Gouenji: Jinx me and you’ll never taste my cooking again! *drives away* Endou: *waves and laughs* 

I keep on putting in all the parts with Endou because he's just such a guy!!

2. Context: My 13yo OC (named Yori) is in the process of being adopted by Kidou, now age 25 here. Kidou got angry at someone that I won’t be mentioning here and Yori witnessed that. They left the scene together…

“Whaaa!!” Yori barely stopped himself from colliding at Kidou’s back. The adult turned around, his head hanging solemnly with an indescribable expression. “I’m sorry, Yori. You didn’t need to see that.” His cracked voice pierced a knife on Yori’s chest. That was not something he knew the absolute commander of the field to be. He was always sure of himself, outspoken, snarky even; and his head would only lower for empathy. Yori tried to find the words to get him back to his usual self, “Oh… that’s…” “I should be better than showing such pettiness in your presence,” he said barely with a better tone than he did his last.  “Uh– you’re allowed to feel how you feel, Yuuto-san,” Yori stated with the confident tone Kidou usually had. “Besides, [Redacted] prefers that people tell him how they feel about him upfront. Like you did.” “I know, but this isn’t about him—” “—And I prefer knowing about how you really feel about things, too.” Kidou stared at him for a long while with his mouth slightly open, a foreign sight to the child who had only known him at his best. He then smiled; a small one but meant a lot to Yori. “You’re a great kid. But don’t push yourself too much.” He squeezed his shoulder, teeth on his mouth now showing. Yori could hear the gratitude in his revived voice. “The adults should be the one taking care of you.” Kidou looked at him more before motioning to continue walking. Yori smiled at Kidou’s back, guided by the memories they shared for the brief time they’ve known each other. ‘You already are…’

5: What part was hardest to write?

The story being OC-centric in general. It was difficult for me to find that balance on how much I should be showing the other characters and their side of things without coming off as if they’re stealing the OC’s show. Since my OC is a first year in middle school here who just enrolled in raimon and the other characters already went through their character arcs, it’s difficult to make a problem that they wouldn’t be able to solve for my OC. I found the solution to this by placing my OC in the 2nd team btw. Surprisingly easy solution but it also sounds like running away from the problem. But it went fine (I think) so far.

But concerning specific parts of the plot, all the emotional Kidou parts were devastating for me to write and I’m not talking about this one above. May the universe have mercy on this guy because my muse did not.

10: Why did you choose this pairing for this particular story?

Hmm… I don’t really have a pairing for my OC since he’s aroace and not interested in one but there are a lot of ships here that people may be interested in. The ships for the recurring supporting characters that I chose here all mostly serve narrative purposes (not that anybody needs to for a ship, mind you), while the background ones are just what I like. These are the ones I can say for now: Kageno x Other OC, Endou x Natsumi, Max x Handa, Someoka x Fubuki, Sakuma x Fudou x Genda, Midori x Akane… aaaaaaaaand more!!

I was planning to watch all of areori first before going midway here since they have interesting characters that I may be able to add. I have a concrete outline of what’s about to happen though but I want to be sure about where I want the story to go first before actually publishing this.

15: What did you learn from writing this fic?

A lot about how the professional soccer players in Japan live their lives ig and what do they usually do or what is usually the issue with them that the public is concerned about. Also on what happens to those who don’t pursue a soccer career when they were considered a prodigy when young. I learned a lot about the political diaspora and read a lot about how bigotry is shown. Now that I’ve mentioned it, most of what I know about Japan that’s not in our textbooks here and not shown in their shows or anime is because of this fic wow.

I’ve also got myself interested in their period dramas, thanks director and producer Kageno.

Also maybe extra question: Do the OG ina11 characters that didn't appear in go (ex: Jin, Shorinji) appear in this story?

YES THEY DO!! Thank you for asking that OMG! Actually this story itself is set in Inazuma Town where my OC basically lives his life and he stumbles into the og Raimon Eleven a lot!!

First responder and firefighter Max (also part time delivery person) usually will be seen waiting for his fiance Handa who is the coach of KFC. Shourin has his own dojo around town that incorporates hissatsu techniques in their style (he won’t be seen a lot though because I can’t think of a plot-relevant thing for him to do 😔). 

Kageno here is the director and producer of a show called Inazuma Eleven that’s literally just the entire first season of ie that tells THEIR story!! But with teen actors (surprise Actors AU!!! Everything that we’ve watched in the first season is everything that is part of this “based on a true story” series by Kageno but with a few episodes with contents I will add on a separate AO3 series).

My OC is the actor for Shishido so he also meets him on the set because Shishido likes crashing there! He gives Yori pointers on how to act him and overall adds good vibes to the cast in there! The other actors who are also in middle school are people my OC will also find as his opponents in the field because of course they know soccer!! I promise there’s a purpose as to why they have this series! Trust me!!
