So while listening to Episode 6's case, I remembered that during the early premiere stream Jonny and Alex talked about Needles a bit. So I figured I'd put them together to make a nice little intro for Needles because I fell in love with him immediately.

This scene is brilliant, because you can see how desperately Jim is trying to get Spock to show an ounce of affection, and then he is frustrated of something he should not have expected of Spock in the first place. Not that he blames Spock, yet he is sure this is anything to either of them but some mutual advantage; his tone softens gradually, because he doesn’t want Spock to be made to do or say anything for his sake, something only Jim wishes to hear. It’s been a while, and here they are, both very well aware of the fact that Spock chose to abandon Kolinahr, which gives Jim every right to demand attention from Spock regardless of how little that might be. Perhaps it is too much to ask of him anyways, and he is making peace with it knowing this is how Spock has always been. Spock knows. This is what’s killing Jim. Is there anything else? No. Not unless he wants it to be. He’s here and that’s all that matters, and yet Jim can’t shake the feeling that Spock is deliberately holding back what he’s really feeling at the moment. They’ve spent too long together and have been too close to each other than for him not to notice Spock is shutting him out. And even so, he still chooses to be patient. The last thing he wants is to push it. He longs for Spock, yet selflessly so. He also knows that this is just as hard on Spock as it is on him.

wow! i wrote something!
Luke's ready for another summer of roving pools every morning with his boys. But those plans get turned upside down when a terrible accident sets him, Reggie, and Alex up with new abilities they don't know how to control. Along the way, he meets Julie, a new rover this year, and it's their job to train her.
The pool rover AU that no one knew about, much less asked for.
i'll be updating this over the summer, if you want some chill fun to join me with as i go

Thinking a Lot about the Colin and audio in The Magnus Protocol
To my understanding, almost every audio clip we have heard (maybe even every?) has been recorded by the computers or various electronic devices spontaneously recording (often without the knowledge of those we are listening in on). we are hijacking someThing or someOne as they listen in and learn about our characters and through that we gain insights
But we have almost no audio of Colin, do we? some of the most recent episodes and a few posts I've seen pointing this out have really put into perspective just *how* little of Colin we've heard. He has built himself a little faraday cave, a blackout zone where no unvetted devices can come in or out. He Knows there is something going on and he is fighting tooth and nail to keep himself separate.
I so desperately want to know what his plans are and what he's thinking but We can only know as much as those listening do, and the longer we don't know, the longer They don't know either. it's such a fun little situation to be in and I'm so eager to see what is done with it!

A day may come when I can spell kolinhar (kolihnar? kolhinar?) without searching for the word every single time, but it is not this day.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh, wow. I got it all wrong LOL
But I promise that in all my fics it's spelled correctly!
(Does checking every single time stop me from writing K/S fics that mention Spock going to Gol? Absolutely not.)

An Ode to Somewhere Else
With the official release of the Magnus Protocol coming up so quickly, I find that I'm upset with how it'll change the Magnus Archives, specifically the ending.
It was a phenomenal ending. Poignant and emotional, it felt like the perfect bookend to the story. I started balling my eyes out the moment the last tape finished. It allowed for a bit of closure with the more secondary main characters, but left the two we'd been following since the beginning up in the air.
Sure, happy endings are wonderful. It's always nice to hear every question answered. But ambiguous endings are so deep and meaningful, far closer to what you'd find in real life. Not everything is happy or set out in black and white. We can never predict what the future holds. Sometimes you get lost. That's life.
And I think that's what Jon and Martin needed. Was to get lost. No matter which way you look at it, they both had a hand in ending the world. They saw so much fear and suffering and couldn't do anything about it (not that they didn't want to). They - and by extension, the audience - knew so much. That's what makes the original ending so beautiful. They finally don't know something. We finally can't see something.
And that lack of clarity gave way to some of the most beautiful things I've ever read. The amount of TMA AUs that begin with Somewhere Else is insane and I love it. It's great that we can finally imagine them getting a happy ending. Or we can imagine them becoming even more tragic. Or both. Or neither. It's an open ending; that's what they're for. Ambiguity invites imagination.
It's not that I'm not excited for the Magnus Protocol; I'm hyped. I just wish that I listened to the Magnus Archives back before the sequel was announced, where the last click of the button was the sound of an ending spilling into somewhere else.

New Fic... sorta.
I got inspired by TMAGP and some stuff I want to do with a writing partner of mine, and ended up writing out the first chapter of a fic. (I hope I added all the 'spoilers' tags to this to not ruin something for some people!) I hope to get inspired to work on it more, but I figured I'd share it here, too! https://archiveofourown.org/works/54286588
Baby Steps
Summary:
Gerry Delano has lived a pretty decent life after a rather traumatic childhood, but he hasn't quite found himself just yet. Things start to shift, however, when he encounters a flower shop tucked off a main street and meets its owner- Michael Shelley. Not only does the world seem a bit brighter, but every challenge seems just a little bit easier to handle. Unless it involves a crush and asking someone out...

Alrighty so TMP
In the Magnus archives, the tape recorders are the listeners, from the tapes POV. In the Magnus protocol Sam is the POV for new listeners, he's new, he's figuring things out. But now there's Celia who's like the POV for old listeners, she doesn't know how it's connecting, she knows what happened in the TMA world, etc.

No amount of character assassination in the later seasons could ever be enough to make me hate Danny Castellano. It will never work because I KNOW that isn’t you, my short king. How could I stop loving the red magnetic reading glasses? The Secret Santa dance? The dorky way he got so excited about the bomber jacket? How nervous he was for his driving test? The strip tease to American Woman? The way his legs dangle when he sits on the countertop with flowers? His sad, lonely piano playing? The way he raised his little brother and supports his entire family? How he apologized for being too harsh about Mindy being late and admitted it was due to his daddy issues? The tailor-made workout plan full of celebrity scenarios? Reading Bridget Jones’s Diary in a terrible British accent? Writing out a list of all his secrets to tell Mindy to prove he trusts her? His fear of the ocean out of respect? His old man rants about not turning on the heat when you could just put on a sweater and do some pushups? The plane kiss??? His exercise addiction as his only mental health coping strategy? The gingerbread houses every Christmas? His love of Ken Burns? His lil beanie when he’s going to the gym? The way he found out about his half-sister and immediately agreed to go to her soccer game? His attempts to make interpersonal chitchat with varying degrees of success? The way he broke his no lying rule to get Mindy out of hot water and did a TERRIBLE job? His nervous sweats? His love of sandwiches, even at parties at other people’s houses? His loyalty to the people he loves? THEY TURNED YOUR GRUMPINESS INTO AN UGLY, BITTER, ABUSIVE THING BUT I SAW ALL THAT GROWTH FOR THREE SEASONS AND I KNOW BETTER, MY BELOVED!!!

Alright so I listened to the first two eps of the Magnus protocol. I’ll admit I was really hesitant (so much so that I didn’t listen the day it was released).
I’m enjoying it so far. I was worried it would crash and burn (and it may still do so) but the first two eps have intrigued me.
Questions I have going forward;
-what happened to the Magnus Institute and why
- does the fact that the Magnus Institute was burned in particular have any relevance? (Re:Gertrude trying to burn it down before she was killed and her connection to Agnes)
-WHY DO THE MYSTERY READING VOICES SOUND LIKE JON AND MARTIN (the basic theory is that somewhere else is… an old computer program)
- where/ how does this new organizations get these not-statements. So far we’ve had email chains and a therapy session.
-why is Sam familiar with the Magnus Institute
- how is Gwen related to Elias
-are there going to be romantic subplots (not really a super important question for me tbh)
-is Lena doing to be evil?
-are we ever going to meet Jon and Martin (outside of them probably-maybe reading not-statements)
-are these new guys going to classify the fears the same way smirk did?
-if the fears are new who is going to give our new cast answers?
I think that’s all. I already love Gwen and Sam. Alice is cool af.
