you guys I am losing it over Suzanne and the way she just flawlessly parallels EVERYTHING in TBoSaS to the original Hunger Games. i just.. all the little nuances and foreshadowing that Snow is so oblivious to. he's just thinking things guys, he has no clue of the bigger picture. but we do!!! ahhhh!!!!!!

#the way she just says things like this and then quickly moves past them is driving me insane #why is she so good at working things in but also making them their own thing?#and they're all just passing thoughts that Snow has #im just losing it #especially when Snow says “if he ever had children-and he planned to one day”#vs katniss in every book saying she couldn't afford to have children #its what makes the epilogue so beautiful #and here's suzanne!! just passing it off as nothing inside coryo's head!!#to be clear im losing it in a good way #but its fucking gone #like suzanne how can you just throw all these parallels into literally every scene and every thought coryo has and expect me to be normal #im the least normal ive ever been #the ballad of songbirds and snakes #the hunger games

you know what, I actually will talk about this because it's bothering me. The issue with focussing so heavily on syd and carmy's potential for a romantic relationship isn't that there's something inherently unintellectual about romance or whatever, it's that a lot of people seem incapable of doing that without immediately flattening the story and ignoring or intentionally misreading any and all nuance for the sake of that romance. Every scene suddenly becomes about how it impacts their relationship, every analysis is done through a romantic lens, every frame or line of dialogue becomes about finding some easter egg or hint that "proves" these people should start dating. Their dynamic is absolutely a fundamental part of this show, but if you can only see it as a will-they-won't-they, you miss so much of what the story is actually trying to say with these two.

There are good versions of this story where their relationship is romantic and there are good versions of this story where it isn't, but as soon as you decide them being together is "the point," you lose the ability to actually judge the story for what it is, not what you want it to be.

#like so much of their dynamic (esp but not exclusively in S3) has been about showing the ways that carmy's trauma and dysfunctional #attitude in the kitchen impacts other people and how even though he cares about syd and wants their partnership to work he keeps self #sabotaging and setting himself and by extension her and the restaurant up to fail and replicating the same toxic environments that #he grew up and trained in and this is very much consistent with his character and a natural continuation of the conflicts they've been #having since S1 but because him being shitty with her runs contrary to them getting together suddenly its 'ruining the story' and #out of character and only happening bc the writers just hate to see this ship winning and like. if you really think that i genuinely don't #know what show you've been watching bc it sure as shit wasn't this one. like it hurts to see him do this because you know #they could do something genuinely great together and that he's ruining a really good thing but this is also the reality of where he is rn #if he was just a good and supporting business partner and not deeply dysfunctional it would be wildly out of character #the problem w S3 wasn't that it 'ruined' their relationship it's that it had no clear focus overemphasized carmy's arc at the expense #of the other leads deprioritized the supporting cast while failing to give them their own arcs gave more screen time to #unecessary and uninteresting new 'comic relief' characters and let conflicts stagnate without resolving them or #letting them evolve over the course of the season.#this isn't exclusive to the bear this is a general trend ive noticed where as soon as the 'shipper' part of people's brains get activated #it's like they lose the ability to read the story any other way and it stops being about what's good for the narrative and starts being #about whether or not these two people kiss and anything that gets in the way of that is bad and anything that brings it closer is good #and it's usually whatever but it's really frustrating when the story ppl are doing that to is this good #it also makes people fundamentally incapable of treating any 'obstacle' to that romance in a way that isn't wildly meanspirited and #gross (esp bc those characters are usually women) which is exhausting. like no claire isn't evil or a 'pick me' or 'bad' for carmy #or a useless addition to the story or whatever other nonsense you guys have decided must be true to feel okay. she's a perfectly normal #character and their relationship is exploring some of the ways that carmy's inability to deal with or actually address his trauma #impacts the various relationships in his life. she doesn't even have to be a monster or a narrative mistake for him and syd to be #'destined' for each other or whatever. this isn't a middle school wattpad fic.#im definitely gonna get killed in the street for this but ive been looking for a good reason to spend less time on here so might as well #the bear #sydcarmy #sydney adamu #carmy berzatto

#‘oh youre just bad at it’ i am bad at it because its bad game design. i rest my case #im not even bad at it. i could definitely clear and 36 star if i wanted to. however i should not have to take 40 shots at thr same content #trying to random luck my way into mashing the right set of buttons and miaculously not getting hit because the hp pools are too high to lose #a single percent of your dps bringing a healer or. for that matter. actually healing.#this is i think why Neuvillette has such a good rep. hes basically invincible at c1 which means you #dont have to retry the same chambers over and over because he keeps getting one-shot. because lets all look into our hearts at this moment #his damage is not that much higher than any other dps character’s damage. he just also heals and fits into the current meta #people used to say the same shit theyre saying about neuvillette about nahida #and once natlan comes out the meta will change once again. hp builds will once again become unnecessary in abyss. bennet will make a #reemergence. overload meta will become real. there will be one character who is good to use in burgeon teams theyll be burgeon nilou. this #is my natlan prediction #part of it anyway #and then we will get shneznaya and there will be a character who does damage based on how high you can get their crit over 100% but they #wont be that meta theyll be like cursed with low modifiers. but nonetheless the meta will change again.#im in a love hate relationship with the genshin meta because it is in a love-hate relationship with itself #board certified my post #board certified metaposting

Ok but can we talk about how out of all the major male characters that Ryunosuke interacts with throughout the story, van Zieks is the ONLY one that isn't hiding something from/lying to him at one point or another?? Sholmes lies about Kazuma being alive, Kazuma hides the fact that he's going to Britain as a hired assassin, Yujin hides details about the Professor killings from him in 2-2, Stronghart lies about... Well, everything really. Like there's so much I could say about him lol. Gregson hides the fact that he helped frame Genshin for the Professor killings, McGilded lies about having been the culprit in the omnibus case, Jigoku lies about having been the one to kill Gregson... Etc etc. I personally can't remember a single point where van Zieks was hiding things from Ryuu or just straight up lying about important things to his face. He's an ass to him at first, sure, but he's ultimately on the side of justice and finding out the truth, even if it means hurting his cases or having his worldview challenged (except maybe in the case of Klint, which I'll get into).

Now one might say, "Oh but didn't he hide the fact that he had a brother from Ryunosuke at first?". And to that I say... So what? From van Zieks' point of view, details about his personal life (and ESPECIALLY about Klint) are hard to talk about and, frankly, Ryuu really had no reason to need that info about him, other than just to be nosy. That's why he's so cagey about the topic in 2-3, and why he's (somewhat) more willing to talk about it with him in 2-4/5, because at that point Ryunosuke absolutely DOES need to know more about Klint (and the Professor killings in general). And as for Ryuu's point of view, he really has no reason to be asking about van Zieks' personal life at first, other than the fact that he's just curious about it.

Anyways. I really do believe that, despite how rocky these two's dynamic is at first, it's been built on honesty and straightforward-ness from the start, and I really appreciate how we have an Ace Attorney prosecutor who's more than willing to not hide the truth from his lawyer rival (even if he's making dunks on Ryunosuke half the time, lol)

#GOD im so glad i finally wrote. something. about these two's dynamic #like their dynamic is so underrated and it sucks because it's so good like!!#as early as 1-3 these two are working towards finding the truth no matter what it may be. even if it means they might lose #ryuu in 1-3 openly admits that the omnibus was tampered with even though that may implicate his client #van zieks in as early as 1-4 not only gives evidence to the defense that he 100% didn't have to give #(and that would potentially cause him to lose the trial)#but he also calls out the actual culprit and makes it very clear that he won't tolerate her hiding things from the court #he does this in 1-5 as well with graydon.. and in 2-2 with ms green #i'm currently doing my second dgs playthrough and i'm at 2-3 so my memory there is a lil hazy lol #but i do remember that in 2-3 he had an absolutely insane premise for his case and probably sounded like an IDIOT to everyone there #and it 100% feels like it was a way to subtly tell ryuu 'hey mr naruhodo you're smart you should have 0 issue ripping my case apart'#(to be fair 2-3 saw his one friend as the defendant so that's probably why he went through all the effort. but still)#anyways im obsessed with their dynamic and y'all SLEEP on it goodbye #va4 rambles in the tags #vu's posts #tgaa #tgaa 2 spoilers #barok van zieks #ryunosuke naruhodo #also to y'all who ship them you can absolutely ship tag this lol. like im not a fan of the pairing i just like their dynamic platonically #but tbh if you wanna use this as ship fuel then honestly just go for it lmao #o shit i almost forgor... their dynamic tag omg #reaper/resolve

first of all herongraystairs rights 🫶 but most importantly before I reread this series I fondly remembered tmi as not doing that thing that all other tsc books do where you have to have read every other book that's been released to understand what at least half of the characters who are cameo'ing are talking about and well. I was very wrong about that. not only does will herondales ghost haunt the 2nd triology, zachariah's role in the story is quite literally just to show up and reference tid and then leave. that's it. that's all he's here for. it was fun the first few times but by the 14th time it just starts to feel like bad writing especially because this story is never explained in tmi itself so you just have these lines that make you go "huh?" and that's it

#i will be taking a small break before cofa to reread iwbft and then ill be moving on to cohf #will admit im slowly losing interest in this series but i think cohf is generally seen as the best 2nd triology book so we'll see!!#too bad its like 800 pages for no good reason #also let ot be clear that the cameos themselves are not what irk me its the way theyre presented like you HAVE to have read the other books #to get whats happening most of the time! i think tlh ironically suffers from this the least but its so bad in tmi #vic reads tmi

unpopular opinion maybe but if you're constantly putting negativity on your friends social media feeds and rarely anything else, kind is not a word i would associate with you. what kindness have you done recently? tell us about it, it might make you feel better so you won't have to post every day about how your life is so awful and nothing ever goes right for you. and maybe im just misjudging people but it's hard not to when they post every day about how terrible their lives are and yet not dwelling at all on things that they enjoyed, things that made them happy, things they did for and with other people. if you constantly refuse to see the nice and good things in life, you will end up being completely unable to see them, and then yes your life will suck absolute ass. watch the sunrise. dye your hair and talk about what the colours mean to you. draw some shitty art and post it knowing you enjoyed making it. spend time with friends, take pics and post about it. remember the good times and remember that experiencing awe regularly is fundamental to a stable mind and sense of happiness. Life is what you make of it

#and if you focus on the bad only then you will only see the bad #all lives are a mix of good and bad #focus on only one of these and you'll become cynical and toxic to be around im sorry to say #yes that goes for the good stuff too cus you will lose the ability to deal with the bad and sympathise with the bad in other people #life is a mixed bag. ENJOY the shit you like and write about it. post about it or journal or keep a photo album or some other memento #grieve with your friends and acknowledge the bad. but do not. Do Not make it the focus of your life #that way lies ruin and despair only #you have to act like you have hope and you have to do it every day #i need a tag for my own rambles #to be clear i don't think it's bad to rant. i do it myself #frequently. just it isn't and never should be the only thing i post about #i think there's a fine balance to strike between ranting and venting and making sure your friends know its ok not to be ok #and making sure your friends know you're miserable all the time.#it makes your friends feel guilty and inadequate. it makes your friends feel bad for having good and nice experiences #yeah. just. be mindful of the balance in your posts. that's all i think

Thinking abt how much I love oni's writing again... In particular, "a seed is planted" continues to be one of if not my favorite logs because despite the troubling details and implications that come with it, it's the one thing in the entirety of the decaying corpse of gravitas that genuinely leaves us with a grain of hope (a seed if you will) and makes oni as a whole a lot more bitter sweet as while earth may not have survived, the dupes did, and after their horrible origins and the shit that many of them went through, in due time they'll finally get to just live, they're free now, and even if Olivia's sleep is end of a tragedy, the world will keep moving forward with or without those who've been lost

#rat rambles #oni posting #like I guess I just rly love that oni both manages to commit to being a tragedy while also leaving a world still in motion #like Im glad that olivia didnt get a bittersweet ending and instead got a fucking miserable one #while at the same time the dupes are still left there to keep moving forward #well ok more so I like how the narrative shifts into smth quite beautiful when seen from the dupes perspectives #which is also why I like that the dupes are rarely talked abt directly in the lore logs #idk I just feel like a seed is planted wouldnt hit as hard to me if the dupes were talked abt more #its the same sort of incedental storytelling that I like abt the rest of oni's writing ig #also I just think them being a major part of the lore logs would rly take away from the greater horrors and tragedies of gravitas #like idk I think it would have been a lot more boring if a third of the logs were just jackie going so yeah I tortured dupes some more #it makes the pre end of the world world feel so much bigger while still mostly remaining within gravitas itself #enhances the feeling of glimpsing into a past world #like every now and then I think abt what oni story could have looked like and am filled with joy at what it is now #I fucking love being into fiction thats good god it feels so good to like shit thats just like actually good #it honestly makes me almost wish there wouldnt be new lore but I do think theres room for more #as in theres plenty of room to make shit up and also we need to see more of the scientists pls #as for actual quote unquote plot stuff idk just give me like one jackie and olivia college year video transcript or smth and we're good #theres other stuff that make me lose my mind but for narrative consistency I think itd be best to not touch those two too much #especially olivia I rly think she doesnt need almost any new content the only stuff Id want with her is if it expanded upon jackie #because rly jackie is the only character I think would super heavily benefit from elaboration even if I stand by her not needing much #as Ive said a billion times just smth small to show us her in a more casual setting and we're golden I think #show me that woman being genuinely happy so I can fill in the blanks as she slowly gets crushed by the consequences of her actions #shes a part of this tragedy too and god damnit I want to see the life she ruined along the way of ruining many others #I want to see a woman whos eyes once shined and then when the lights have dulled I want her to say it was worth it with no conviction #metaphorically ofc I dont actually want to see most of it because thatd go against the narrative philosophy already established #rly all this means is I wanna see jackie and olivia doing laundry together or smth #oh also I hope they specifically give otto a whole other log just to clear up my pronoun woes #idc what its abt just have them talk abt their gender offhand or smth #just mi-ma being like how do you do young man and otto is like they and mi-ma is like ah yes young they
