Left: Eclipse, the OG threat of the Daycare, still alive and kicking and causing problems. Spiteful, wickedly clever and lethal. Complicated relationship with Sunrise.

Right: Solar, the main protagonist of the series (most of it's from his POV). Industrious to a fault and dead set on proving himself useful, no matter what. Modded his own construction to sacrifice speed for power, so he's bigger than the standard model. In love with Sunrise.

They loathe each other with every fibre of their being. Every line of code and filament of wires is dedicated to mutual animosity and venom. They do not get along.

sniper and why i love quiet guys

you ever look at a quiet guy in real life, like a regular dude, who’s minding his business, and impose all of your absolute worst thoughts on him and casually dismiss it with “the quiet guys are always like that”? (that might just be me i have anxiety)

well that’s why i love sniper.

and that’s why i love writing him.

yes, sure. i can turn him into that animalistic, brutal, feral bushman most love to imagine him as. i can write him as this guy who is cool, confident, smooth, and vicious. frankly, it’s one of my favorite ways to imagine sniper too! but really, as i’ve grown up and interacted with cool, confident, smooth, vicious men; i really like to imagine him as a dude. a dude with a good eye and a steady hand and a good head on his shoulders. who’s got what some would call “a lively job” and “interesting hobbies”. who’s doing his best to live a life that’s right by him.

snipes kinda reminds me of my brother? a good natured guy at the end of the day, but just very quiet. he doesn’t reach out often, and while he does expect you to reach out, it’s okay if you don’t. it’s not going to make him feel a type of way unless you miss something important. snipes, like my bro, and frankly like myself, were raised to be independent. self reliant. but snipes, also like my bro, and unlike myself, has a much greater self awareness about the amount of socialization he needs to feel mentally sane.

i do stand on the opinion that sniper is the most mentally sane person on the team.

sniper is a guy you are most likely to hit if you threw a rock in a crowd. and you probably wouldn’t give him more than a passing apology. he is not an insane super-genius. his roommate is not a wizard. he’s not a wiz with tech, or explosives. not a super suave frenchman with weird disguise tech. and he’s not big enough to haul around 350 pounds with ease. hell, he barely knows his gun well enough to maintain it. he’s a dude with a gun and great aim.

he’s a guy who likes to talk shit to his friends over a beer. he’s a guy who can pick his fights, and tries to keep himself in situations that don’t have him at disadvantages. he’s a guy who’s man enough to stand down, or get support when he needs it. he’s a guy someone can count on, themselves! he’s a solitary man who understands his need for socialization. he’s an average guy who stumbled his way into greatness.

snipes is a guy who is an ever-changing product of his environment. and he controls his environment carefully. he is a man who can be swayed, but not easily. a man who likes the most basic knowledge of both sides to make his decision. and snipes, like anybody, needs recognition. he needs recognition that he is doing his best and it’s appreciated. not all the time, but he’s gotta hear it. because when he does, he gets better. quicker on the draw, faster on the pickups, more social, more breezy, more competitive, willing to take bigger risks, just to see if he can. and it’s easier to take failure with a friend laughing with you.

it’s kinda my favorite thing about sniper, and the way in which i think about him!

sometimes quiet guys are freaks and weirdos, yes. but most of the time they are just guys. guys with families they love. and friends. and hobbies they enjoy. foods they hate. goals they want to achieve. dreams they gave up on. things they are not good at. a couple of things they’re great at. and they do their best to make sure their strengths are helping the people around him, and try to let their friends and their support system make up where they lack.

guys like sniper are a rare breed. but they’re everywhere, at the same time.

i love sniper. and i love guys like him.

i hope they keep on keeping on!

(sorry for leaving y’all in suspense I was grocery shopping) Surprise!! I accidentally got into Len’en like two weeks ago. Whoops! I got ideas for cool drawings to do with each of the BPoHC shrine team members (and you-know-who, ofc, but that one might be… weird lol), but Tsubakura gets to go first cause theirs is the simplest; just greyscale + red color scheme with a split background and the pose is mostly random (maybe they’re squishing Tsurubami’s little eye thing? Idk). Very pleased with how everything worked out; the line for the eye is exactly where the dividing line for the background was and the way I managed to make the vest corseted while not changing the ribbon placement is just perfect. Although I did make their hat smaller out of the aforementioned cowardice also that thing is hard to draw

yeah yknow while i dont think portable ops serves that well a bridge between even mgs3 & peacewalker much less mgs3 & mgs4 I do think giving players more time w/ zero, paramedic, sigint, and even campbell to an extent was a good call given their increased importance to the story in 4 yknow, kind of give more of the hints to the roles they would play it wouldve been a bit jarring if they just had the 1 game that doesnt really hint towards any of thi[looks at the execution of the mgs1/2 casts inclusion] ah shit

I feel the incessant need to put into my bio “my main F/O is an adult! He is an adult in his debut game! He is early to mid twenties but the end!” because of the fact D//GR has a lot of that “high school” trope stuff — though the game starts with them in a high school but obviously there’s the whole two years of missing memories stuff.

Who am I?

An idea that started with me thinking about a game idea made in the style of a visual novel in a fantasy setting centered around a kingdom's noble families. Political intrigue and mystery.

The player character would be created in the beginning, dollmaker-style since it would be in 2D. The race, appearance, outfit and noble family would be chosen in the CC, each race having a couple different options.

The game would start with you waking up in a bedroom. The game tells you that you are not the character you've just made but are instead a regular person who ended up in that body, whether that is meant to be you as in the player or the POV character themself is left unclear.

The intro is your attendant, who they are depends on the noble family that was chosen, coming to your room, finding out you have no memories, and explaining that you were in an accident, likely being the cause for the memory loss. You get to choose your character's first name, and personality traits they used to have before the incident.

The gameplay would then be you attempting to act in a way the chosen character would act to not raise suspicion while investigating the cause of the incident, finding it suspicious. The run would end with you figuring out who caused it and finding a way to make them face justice.

The player could then start a new playthrough with a new character. The incidents and events would be varied but the backstory of the character being someone who just woke up in this body remains consistent.

As you play more and more and discover new secrets, you start to find out about the POV character, that they are indeed meant to be their own character and not just a stand-in for the player. They begin to awaken vague memories about their life before, and eventually realize they remember each of the playthroughs of the game, being stuck in a type of timeloop, with the character they end up possessing being different each time.

Their memories of their original self being very vague and the many roles they take in the game leading to an identity crisis. The true endings relating to the player character themself would likely have multiple options, good, bad, neutral.

This whole idea going out of control inspired me to draw the poor Player Character, which is the name I will be referring to them as, if I ever return to this idea. It was a fun experiment.

So I've been thinking about @macdenlover 's "levels of headcanon" chart (about how heavily a HC is influenced by canon), so I decided to make my own scale about how likely a HC is to be true (including different levels of canon) using queer cartoon characters as examples :)
