Tolkien Blog Recs: Follow the Rebloggers!
I've been asked for Tolkien blog recs a few times now (in my short Tumblr life), and I would like to explain my personal strategy for getting the best and most comprehensive Tolkien content on my blogs:
FIND, FOLLOW, and BEFRIEND FANDOM REBLOGGERS.
Tolkien artists/writers/creators are amazing of course, and you should follow and support your favorites. However, Rebloggers are fandom connoisseurs that essentially do the important work of finding and gathering the content you want from various creators. They keep posts alive and circulating! I believe they are a crucial part of the fandom that remains underappreciated. (Many of them are or used to be creators themselves, but are just more active as rebloggers now.)
Rebloggers are often also great at supporting and engaging with other bloggers, so they are wonderful to have as Mutuals.
Below are some of the most consistently active and Tolkien-centered blogs I have the privilege of being Mutuals with. I might have missed a few, but these are great ones to start with:
@asianbutnotjapanese
@hobbitwrangler
@brain-empty-just-vibes
@talesfuzzy
@mithrilandvilya
@thranduilseyebrows
@hyperlexia-1
@urban-trek-thru-middle-earth
@stormchaser819
@sylvanprincess
@sleepyamygdala
@aduialel
@coopsgirl
@evenstaredits
@elithilanor
Thank you to the below Anons who asked me for my recs! <3 I'm sorry it took me so long to respond, but blog recs are difficult for me to make. I hope this helps you find the content you want!

Doing one of my never-ending rereads and... even when Neil hated Andrew and fully believed all the worst rumors, he still expected someone to be in Andrew’s corner... and then in book three we see him decide to be that person:
Tumblr media
something about the way Neil, a perfect stranger to the concepts of friendship and teamwork, still expected better from Andrew’s team and family... I know that’s the entire core of their relationship but it still knocks a hole in my chest to see it laid out so baldly

Welcome to LOTR20! A blog to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the LOTR films.
The 20th anniversary of The Return of the King is coming up soon (17 December), and it'll be a great opportunity to celebrate the amazing film trilogy. The current plan is to have a week of prompts (11-17th Dec) for original creations, ending on the anniversary itself to celebrate ROTK and the film trilogy as a whole.
More information to follow soon! Updates at @lotr20 ✨

Some of the many thoughts I had whilst reading the Silmarillion:
"What the fuck?!", "you can't be serious", "DON'T DON'T!", "oh dear lord", "hear we go", "you absolute idiot", "Why? Just Why?", "Well I'm now depressed", "Oh I like him (dies) OH F*CKING COME ON", "(another character dies) another bites the dust", "does no one here have a brain cell?", "well maybe it can't get any wor- JESUS WEPT HOLY SH*T!!!"

Whenever I picture Thingol in my head, I always imagine Lee Pace as Thranduil from the Hobbit movies
If I were making a Beren and Lúthien movie, I would totally cast Lee Pace as Thingol.
He already looks amazing as Thranduil. But can you imagine him as the OG Forest Elf King?

Gushing and headcanons under the cut
I really enjoyed making this! The colors and the pose as just SO 😍!!! Thank you so much for hosting this!
I've added a few of my personal headcanons about embroidery and adornment, as well as my Korean Nolofinweans concept (or at least I tried, I'm still learning how to do skintones in general - most of my work has been greyscale).

Some portraits of some fancy elves from Gondolin
Ecthelion and Glorfindel deserved some more elaborate designs than my usual, and how can I draw one without the other?

Okay, I made a very interesting discovery today. Or rather, I remembered something I had read many years ago, but didn’t understand the implications back then.
In the last tale of the Silmarillion, called Of The Rings of Power and the Third Age, there is a sentence about the War of the Last Alliance:
All living things were divided in that day, and some of every kind, even of beasts and birds, were found in either host, save the Elves only. They alone were undivided and followed Gil-galad.
All living things except Elves. This means there were Orcs fighting for the good side!

I have, you know, once or twice or a million times mentioned that Tolkien repeatedly described the Stewards as descendants of Anárion who couldn't inherit the crown of Gondor for never-explained reasons.
