Translating Tomb-Script
I've been going through and trying to find each unique text using tomb-script in the Necropolis I could, a lot of them are repeated. But here is what I have translated thus far!
Tumblr media
This first one we see often, and it's one we were also told what the symbols read upon it by the game, but I will still include it nonetheless.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The inscription reads "Eternity's Witness" , this is also the text found on Rupert & Elannora Volkarin's graves. I am honestly suprised they did not have unique text. The script above within the Hexagons seems to be nothing. Letters don't match up or appear to be inverted versions of themselves. If you do attempt to translate the inverted letters it reads "FWJIHGFWJIHFG".
Tumblr media
The short grave markers read, "From Death, We Rise."
Tumblr media
The three letter stones appear to say "OBD" however, there is a stone you can approach that dons these three characters that gives the text prompt that this stands for "Our Beloved's Home." This makes me think that they miswrote the initials, since 'D' and 'H' are so similar, and it was intended as "OBH".
[Due to the upper vertices and placement of two dots on the right of the character it's definitely written here as a 'D']
Tumblr media
These taller monument stones say, "Ever Within Our Hearts."
Tumblr media
This obelisk is actually quite interesting. Some of the letters are cut off from the fencing but, it appears to say, "I Eake Unto Eternity, in Undeath I Abide." It makes me wonder if it's a cenotaph for a Lich Lord or other undead resident of the Necropolis rather than a proper grave.
Tumblr media
The Obelisk also has the darkened inverted letters similar to the "Eternity's Witness" stone, in the same permutation of letters. So I think it's more motif than meaning here, akin to lorem ipsum. It reads: "JIHGFWJIHGFW"
Tumblr media
Lastly these hexagonal plaques found throughout the Necropolis, they all appear to have the same text upon them. I have no idea if it's an acronym, I'm trying to match it up with Mourn Watch sayings but haven't found one that fits yet. It reads as follows "JKLLD SDAF APOWE" this could also simply be lorem ipsum.
Tumblr media
Thank you guys for reading, if there are any instances of Tomb-Script I didn't cover here that you'd like me to translate. Please let me know! I'd be more than happy to take a look and post more of these! Likewise if you have any theories for our possible acronym inscriptions I'd love to hear them!

Necropolis Lore by Sylvia Feketekuty
Collected by @felassan in [Post One, Post Two, Post Three, Post Four, Post Five, Post Six] I read, copy/pasted, categorized, formatted, light edits:
The Giant ribcage: what's that giant [ribcage ceiling] in the necropolis supposed to be?
Sylvia: sadly, even I don’t know all the mysteries of the Necropolis. (Which is to say it’s a very cool bit of art but has no stated origin yet. Could be a large dragon, a giant…or something weirder!) [source]
Distance from Nevarra City?: “In another post you mentioned shops in Nevarra City near the Necropolis. How far IS Nevarra City itself is from the Necropolis?”
Sylvia: “I’m reluctant to say what the distance is since I never defined it in game so it’s Unknown™. But I imagine they can either walk or take a carriage, depending.” [source]
Cryptids: "BTW I got a kick out of "nevarran cryptid”.
Sylvia: Who knows what haunts the lower halls?“ [source]
Pets: "how are pets and animals honoured in the Necropolis and by the Mourn Watchers? The same as any other being?"
Sylvia: "Beloved animals are absolutely permitted to be buried with families. Mild Necropolis exploration spoiler: inside the passage you unlock after finding all the wisps in the belfry area, there's actually some caskets for faithful hounds interred in the crypt." [source]
Raising Pets?: “do the mourn watcher/nevarra in general raise their pets after they die to keep them around? like a dog skeleton with a whisp in it?”
Sylvia: “To be honest I hadn’t thought out this one, but it’s a very good question. I’m not sure how common that would be, or even if it’s permitted to have pets running around the family crypt. (I definitely thing people would WANT to do it.) You know, I think I’m going to have to leave this one in the vague quantum foam of the future. I think I’d want to not only double check existing lore, but answer that in-game (or in a book or etc.) if we ever need to. (Hope that’s not too much of a cop out. Sometimes I like to leave questions I’m not sure about alone, because until it’s in an official game or story, it doesn’t quite count.)” [source, two, three]
Tomb Script: “I’d be interested to know if you know any fun facts or something about the nevarran language featured in the game”
Sylvia: “Ah, tomb-script. I named it but it was our concept artists who went developed it with the hexagon shape-language of the Mourn Watch, which I loved. Conceptually: I think it’s used purely an occult or sacred language. Something for the graves, or books on magic, but not everyday things.” [source] // User: “The artists did an amazing job—it’s such a unique and visually striking evolution of Elvhen script, and it really highlights the distinct Nevarran aesthetic beautifully. It would be great to hear more about it if there’s anything you’re able to share from the concept/lore side of its development!” // Sylvia: “I don’t know if I have too much more, but I did love how our artists made it follow the hexagonal shape-language of the Mourn Watch in general. (It’s everywhere in their architecture and props.)” [source]

okay okay so corona and ianthe's mother's name is canonically "violabeth" (whence "coronabeth" gains the "beth"). viola is latin/italian in origin, meaning purple; corona means crown or wreath. congrats, your third house monarch (whose assigned house colour is purple) is called purplebeth and crownbeth
but also! in pondering this, my mind was also drawn to viola from shakespeare's twelfth night - one half of a pair of twins, forced by circumstance to take on the guise of her brother for her own safety. we talk and talk abt who out of ianthe and corona came up w the "corona should pretend to be a necromancer" scheme, and also who enforced it; but is it not fucked up if it was violabeth? (especially considering ianthe specifies their father as the one who "wanted a matching set") and if it wasn't, isn't it still fucked up that, based on literature that existed before the houses, their mother's name is all but a prophecy?

Huh, found an older art piece of the FSM as a child
Tumblr media
My anatomy is meh here but oh well. The eyes around him are basically the onis and the dragons. Its the pressure he felt when they were making him chose sides in a war… yikes.
Rambling below cut (and sketch!)
I hc he ran away when he was 14-15. This is him as a kid, basically 14. Also, i thought it’d be fun if he looked like both his sons hence the two toned hair (personally think he made his kids asexually btw cause its hilarious)
I also like to think hes a lot like BOTH his sons personality wise.
ANYWAY that moment when trauma hits you like a truck. As a child soldier, you are robbed of your childhood (lloyd parallel fr) and then you run away making 16 realms, 2 kids and possibly humans as well. You ingrain it into your everyday life and never realise your coping methods are unhealthy until you suddenly realise you’ve hurt your sons, but its too late by then.
My angst material is focusing on the generational trauma here btw
I mean FSM runs from the pressure from everyone around him -> Wu and Garmadon feel pressure to uphold their fathers expectations and everyone elses -> Lloyd trying to uphold expectations from everyone around him…
(Also, so fun cause my lloyd design looks like his grandfather, OOF think of the parallels is what i’m saying)
This family makes me crazy…
Bonus,, sketch

Linear B Writing System
Tumblr media
Linear B writing system is an ancient script used by Mycenaean Greeks from around 1450 to 1200 BC, a period which predates the later classical Greek civilization.
The script was deciphered in 20th century by British archaeologist Michael Ventris, OBE (1922-1956).
It was found to be an early form of Greek language. But did the ancient Greeks of classical period know about this earlier script?
In this article, we will explore this question by delving into a fascinating story recounted by Plutarch about tomb of Alcmene, mother of Hercules, and discovery made by Agesilaus of Sparta (444–360 BC).
According to Greek mythology, Alcmene was the mortal mother of the demigod Hercules, who was fathered by Zeus.
Her tomb was said to be located in the ancient city of Haliartus in Boeotia.
Diodoros Siculus (5.57.3–5) and Plutarch (De Genio Socratis 577e–579b) give us some interesting stories about the very first writing system of the Greeks and tell us a story about Agesilaus, the king of Sparta, who visited the tomb while on a campaign against Thebes in 370 BC.
According to Plutarch, when Agesilaus of Sparta (444–360 BC) opened the tomb of Alcmene, mother of Hercules, located at Haliartos city in Boeotia, he and his men discovered a bronze tablet engraved with peculiar letters.
Plutarch describes these symbols as "very ancient" and "barbaric" letters (“ἔχων γράμματα πολλὰ θαυμαστὰ ὡς παμπάλαια... αλλ' ίδιος τις ο τύπος και βαρβαρικός των χαρακτήρων”) that Agesilaus had to send to Egypt for decipherment.
It is speculated that these symbols might have been an example of the Linear B writing system.
Agesilaus, who was an educated man and well-versed in the Greek language, found these symbols unfamiliar and indecipherable.
The Egyptians' answer was not very convincing, so apparently, they could not read the inscribed text.
Linear B was used primarily for administrative purposes in the Mycenaean palatial centers, such as Knossos and Pylos.
The symbols on the bronze tablet found in Alcmene's tomb might be an example of this ancient script.
If so, it is likely that Agesilaus and the ancient Greeks of his time were unaware of their civilization's earlier writing system.
There is also the testimony of Diodoros Siculus, who talks to us about the lost knowledge of writing during a big flood that took place in prehistoric Greece.
Diodorus Siculus was a first-century BC Greek historian, known for his extensive work, "Bibliotheca Historica," a universal history from mythological times to 60 BC.
In his narratives, he recounted a significant flood event that allegedly wiped out almost all written documents and records, leading to an immense loss of historical knowledge and collective memory.
In his accounts, Diodorus spoke of a catastrophic flood, a deluge of epic proportions that wreaked havoc on ancient civilizations.
This flood was said to be so devastating that it destroyed nearly all written monuments and records of the time.
Devastation wrought by this flood not only resulted in material loss but also led to a significant loss of cultural and historical memory.
Entire civilizations were reduced to ruins, and their histories were lost to the abyss of time.

The only time to consider a VAs opinion is the OG Japanese Voice Actors anyways. They tend to be part of who the character is crafted for and are employed for life to be said character.
Tumblr media
Merging the two asks!
I wouldn't say a seiyuu's opinion should also be considered as "important" or having as much authority on canon as the devs or the game itself, and maybe I don't spend a lot of time on social media but I don't know if they comment or interact with their fanbase as much as the non jp VAs do.
en parlant de ça, je crois qu'il y avait la doubleuse de Bulma de DB/DBZ - je ne sais pas si elle continue pour DBS - à Paris Manga le week-end dernier?
Ultimately I agree, whatever they're posting/saying on Twitter X is, I'd day it's their own opinion and feelings about the game/lore/whatever they're posting, and it doesn't reflect the devs's vision or the like. Even if, say, Sho Hanamiya would end up saying Reptor did nothing wrong and was Jugdral's true hero, I'd be disappointed, but write this off.

➜ Snooze-scripts #1
TWs: subconscious self-harm (?)
The last time I have experienced sleep walking was about 5 years ago, when I've gotten up from the couch I was sleeping on at the time, and I started heading outside the house.
Now, the house I was staying in used to have an ante-room that had a door, thus you would have had to open two doors if you wanted to go outside.
When you tried to open the door and pushed down the ante-room's doorknob though, it always gave a very loud noise, similar to if you'd have just kicked that door semi-hard.
So when I was opening that door I've woken up.
I was confused. Because I literally just went to sleep, and now I'm standing with the doorknob in my hand, slowly opening the door to the ante-room.
I just closed it and went back to sleep.
My brother, who I was sharing a room with at the time, by the way, just watched it all play out, and the next day even told me I was talking to our dog while going to...wherever, really.
So yeah, whatever, years pass, and I'm getting used to hearing these stories.
"Haha, you were talking in your sleep"
"Hey, you were shouting in your sleep. Cursing, too, lol"
"You were playing with the dorm room's curtains, haha"
"You snore really loud. You should get that checked out or idk..."
"You were shouting again"
And it was funny for a while, but now I have conflicting feelings.
And no, they hadn't started immediately after I started realizing that I punch in real life, instead of my dream. I'd usually just punch my wall, or preferably nothing – if I wasn't turned towards the wall – or sometimes my head like one time, but obviously that one punch wakes me up so. No biggie.
But one time I punched my cat off my bed (too light for it to hurt her, thank god her chubbs and my conveniently light dream that night), and that's when it started cracking, but it still just started.
But nowadays I've been sleeping really bad.
And some days ago my brother and I were talking, and we wandered off to the topic of dreams and nightmares, and I started telling him this.
That I punch irl instead of my sleep.
(Mind you, I'm sharing a room with my brother again, out of necessity.)
So he told me that some days ago when he came home at night and I was already asleep, when he stepped into our room I – and this is where he demonstrated my WWE-tier moves (/j), which I did not ask for but will never forget, thank you – started violently hitting my face with my fists then woke up and just went back to sleep.
NOW WAIT! [Imagine that one spongebob meme here]
How I remember the incident (!) is the following:
I sleep, hooonk mimimi, I dream that my father is being an asshole again and I want to punch him, I wake up to the sound of the door being opened
*BAM* ouch
Damn, that hurt a bit. Anyway, sometimes 's just happens. I'm tired. Sleeping part two.
So yes. I thought I just. Y'know. Wacked myself one time. Not trying to fucking lobotomise myself.
I hate it though.
Not like I liked it before!!!
But seeing an irl demonstration, just makes me want to live in a cave alone forever so people would never have the inconvenience of experiencing ME ever again.
That was a bit dark, but truthful, too.
Maybe the worst part is that no one is able to tell when someone is about to have a bad dream. It makes me never want to sleep again... Which is awful, because I used to love sleeping.
I haven't really experienced this with good dreams nowadays. But either way, I don't want to experience this at all.
...
Statement ends.
...haha, get it? Tma reference... Sigh.
Ah, yes, my favourite coping mechanism, joking and not taking myself seriously, haha.
