Bunyi Sunyi Sunyi. Apatah ada, suara lain, seindah kesunyian? Sunyi tidak butuh suara untuk bisa jadi irama. Sunyi menyusun nada di daun telinga. Manusia mencerna alunannya, menciptakan lagunya. . Sunyi, adalah komoditi paling langka. Boleh jadi, ia yang paling dicari hari ini. Paling tidak, bagi mereka yang sudah bosan dengan bising bunyi mesin industri, klakson berisik segala transportasi, janji manis politisi ingkar janji. . Di bangku ujung kanan, kurang satu saja sampai ke belakang. Terlintas dalam benak si kakek, ingatan tentang zaman. Zaman hitam putih, di mana manusia tertawa bahagia, cukup karena memakai mata. Tak perlu dengar banyak kata. . Graham Bell, sempat membuat dunia si kakek penuh suara. Namun, hari- hari itu tidak berlangsung lama. Manusia yang tadinya mengikat telepon karena berisik, hari ini kebalikannya. Telepon-lah yang mengikat manusia. Mungkin karena alasan yang sama. . Kakek sesekali memutar pena. Memikirkan dawuh dokter tentang kadar gulanya. "Note" kecil, seperti biasa di pangkuannya. Dari balik kaca, pandangannya menjelajah trotoar asrama. Mencari- cari lagu yang dapat dituliskannya. . Seorang pemuda paruh baya, memaki- maki tembok, kiranya. Praduganya ternyata bersalah. Pemuda itu sedang memarahi sesosok di dunia maya. Absahlah tesisnya, tentang manusia yang terikat oleh telepon genggamnya. . Marahnya itu berisik. Semakin tinggi frekuensi suaranya, semakin memanas, musim panas dibuatnya. Ikhtisar-nya satu melihat yang itu; ia tumpahkan kesannya itu, di catatan kecilnya. Kala suasana kereta mulai sepi, ia goreskan beberapa susun kata: . "Kamu akan jatuh hati pada kereta. Cepat atau lambat kamu akan menyadarinya; bahwa kereta terkadang terasa lebih 'rumah' ketimbang rumahmu sendiri". Di sana, ia tidak mengenal siapa-siapa. Ia tidak perlu berlakon sayang, pura-pura. . "Musik ada di mana- mana. Yang perlu manusia lakukan, hanyalah memasang telinga", begitu tulis si kakek. "Tak terkecuali di kereta, lagu manusia ragam banyak iramanya. I haven’t done a train read in a while, but I had to do one for today because Gideon the Ninth. 🖤🖤😎☠️💀 . . . . . This book is the absurd, gritty, adventurous, sci-fi, deep, gruesome, rock rolling, queer necromancer book of my Halloween dreams and I’m absurdly happy that it exists. . . . No really I was sold from the tag line, ‘lesbian necromancers in space’ and desperate to read it after the cover reveal. I’m only half way though, but this book is everything I wanted it to be, and while some of that is pure pain, I want to thank Tamsyn Muir for it because gosh I’m loving it. I mean just look at the naked cover? Not seen the glorious outer cover and the black spray painted edges (you’ve probs seen them and I’ll probs post them at some point). My 🖤 my 🖤!! . . . . . In general this year has been a gift when it comes to some of the wild and wonderful books that have come out that just seem tailored to what I have been craving. 🇬🇧 “ When someone you love dies you pay for the sin of outliving her with a thousand piercing regrets.” . I’ve read A Very Easy Death by Simone de Beauvoir on a train. I think there is a special thing between a train journey and a book. You have to choose the book carefully, otherwise the journey becomes misarable. This book was not a wise choice. I should’ve known better. 😞 This is not for the faint-hearted, but still it is a great book. How can one write about losing her mother? I still cannot imagine. Have you read Beauvoir before?
