Interesting how Allah has also created some people to be gay or with the nature to be gay but they have to repress and deny those aspects of them, whereas god has catered to straight man to allow them up to 4 differet wives because of the nature that he also created them as.

you see how that dosnt add up? how god can cater to one nature whilst disregarding the rest. I think people forget that god being the infinite energy has never written any book, god has not written the bible; god has not written the Quran, god has not written the Torah, nothing. i used to be a massive trans supporter like proselytized to my friends and family massive, but over the years the movement got more homophobic and sexist and i started really questioning things when people started claiming that trans women don't ever have to reflect on growing up with male privilege. suggesting a tw was being misogynist or saying they need to check the male entitlement baggage they bring with them became heresy and that was the beginning of the end for me

me too! I find it really interesting what peaked people around here, because gender critical tumblr might be one of the few places on the internet where the overwhelming majority of people used to believe in the very ideology they are now advocating against... the only other places on the web are probably places where ex-mormons, ex-muslims, ex-jehovas witnesses and so on meet.

I personally got peaked because of philosphy tube. this was just so clearly a grift. him coming out as a "trans lesbian" sent me back to all of the delusional autogynephiles I had to console back in my TRA days.

Today, I met someone who believed that people who left their religion deserve to die, even more so if they dare talk about it or make art out of it.

He told me that not all ideas should be scrutinized. He told me that religion, especially Islam, gets a pass because "it's true.". The part that baffled me the most is the following : "You don't criticize religion like that. The murder of these people is okay, it's halal.".

In his essence, I and many of my loved ones, deserve to die.

This shit is what we apostates have to go through on a daily basis. TBH, I'm so sick of being here. I'm so sick of having to explain time and time again that I, a queer agnostic female artist, doesn't deserve to die. But this place is too far gone in its own delusion and people like me pay the price. I don't agree or even like religious people, but I'm never going to wish death or injury on them because they're human beings. Why can't that same favor be accorded to me? I am human, too. I'm sick of it all.

In certain AU they're Nifty and or Al's adoptive parents/found family parent's in others they are just older friends who are protective and the mom/dad friend. Rosie is a psychologist and Husk a bartender, most AU they're gonna be ex military

Angel Dust (Anthony) Husks twink boyfriend he gets after divorcing or breaking up with Rosie. Still a hooker but he and Val have a healthy relationship. Unless I need Val to be nasty for my plot. Ex addict, makes music sometimes, recovering eating disorder

The Vees! Vox with his heterochromia and I like making him sweaty either an actual problem or he's just sweaty. I also like to give him a stutter in certain AUs. He's German.

Valentino is as always, half blind, and he's a nasty weird tall man with a connective tissue disorder in most AU, he's also Latin and a pretty good friend he's very supportive just bad at it.

Velvet is a weird little chaotic rat but her boys worship her. For some reason I see her as a Floridian military brat idk, fashion designer and influencer in every AU. I ship her with Rosie.

In some AU they're adoptive siblings

Charlie and Vaggie! Twinning UwU! Vaggie is an ex Catholic cause I think it makes sense and Charlie definitely practices Wicca or something. Charlie actually does own a hotel, it's a rehab her father funded for her because she wants to help nd she has whateva sort of degree would help with that, something with therapy. Vaggie works as a security guard there.

Vaggie twin sister Lute, she's having a near constant mental breakdown, she's a psycho deep down and is FILLED with religious guilt idk what to tell ya. Killed someone. Her arm is amputated too. She teaches self defense, specialising in helping people with disabilities learn to work around them.

Charlie cousin Peter. Everyone think he's the "gay" cousin but he's actually straight and VERY comfy in his masculinity, nondenominational. Isn't technically allowed to visit the Morningstar house alone because they're "evil" but they're just spiritual. Broadway!!

Lute boyfriend, Adam. I could NOT resist making him adorable and precious because you see him and go awww but then he fucking opens his mouth and calls you a slur. Lmao. Questioning his faith. Rock star wanna be, studies music theory or something

Adams cousins! Big sis Sera is constantly worrying and lil sis Emily is heavily sheltered. Sera is a Sunday School teacher, idk, maybe religious studies? Emily if the AU has her college aged will want to be a nurse (I've been seeing Emily ships everywhere but what if she falls for her fellow nurse who's secretly a psychopath?? Nifty, I mean)

Cherri! Angels BFF! She's deffo an artist and also a demolition expert or something, and does monster trucking too! She's the best most supportive person, Penti adores her and she's secretly in love too but she's scared of it. Angel keeps mocking her that he's got two guys (Val and Husk) and she won't even take a chance on the dude who would find a way to blow up the sun for her.

Penti is trans, hjs family is also Muslim but he was disowned when he came out. He has triplet little siblings! Is studying to be or is a physicist. Idk minor speech impediment/lisp!

Frank is the embodiment of chaos and when he meets Alastor is obsessed with him (crushing on a guy your older brother doesn't like is a right if passage) Chandler and Leslie are his siblings. They we're disowned for supporting Penti and Chandler has refused to wear her veil since. Leslie still upholds their faith but is very supportive.

Usually Vark will be a dog. But occasionally an AU will call for him to be Vox little brother so here's a design for him!

Being an ex-Christian

Sometimes I think about what it means to be an ex Christian in the closet. It means the people who you’re supposed to love are hurting you without knowing it. Dragging you to their church services and expecting the message that they love but you hate to resonate the same way. When they claim to love and support whatever you want, it feels empty, as you’ve overheard their conversations on certain subjects; atheists, trans people, politicians they’re supporting and have seen the company they keep such as my dad’s friend who rants about “blue haired wokesters”Having to lie and claim to like what they do. Silently hating the K-Love music your dad plays in the car or cringing when he praises you by saying “god made you perfect”. Feeling angry at them and wishing you had a different family especially if you were adopted from a nonwhite culture. Angry that they force you to be friends with kids or adults that they like but are toxic to you. When you try and find kinship from people on tumblr or irl who you share fandoms, gender, sexuality etc with, they invalidate your trauma and talk just like conservative Christians albeit wrapped in progressive language. Examples include “sorry the church hurt you but my church/the real Jesus loves trans people”, “you just mean Christianity/organized religion” or “agnostics/atheists are all immoral colonialist and soulless” when you see other religions with the same kind of beliefs that fucked you up and want to call it out. When you see people who are from other flawed religions like ex Muslims who also get their trauma invalidated by people who insist the only bad religion is western Christianity and feel kinship. Being afraid of being outed by your siblings who think they’re helping when all they’re doing is causing you trouble. Being worried about how it will affect your parents relationship with your child or partner.

Well yes he did and it ended up the opposite despite his best efforts but to be honest the creature is described with black hair in conjunction with the line about making him beautiful so I would say that he's building a man to his aesthetic tastes rather then attempting to make a perfect Aryan or something. Which I suppose is a kind of eugenics technically maybe depending on how you define eugenics. But I don't think it's useful to our understanding of eugenics or to our understanding of the novel to apply that lense to it. Aesthetic choices need to be made in Victor Frankenstein's build a bitch laboratory. While he might be somewhat limited in skin color by being in Germany, he can pick more or less any hair or eye color he likes any bone structure he likes and so on. The monster is by necessity intentionally designed in a way that human beings are not. So any aesthetic choices made being made differently would result in the same moral outcome. It's less selective breeding for particular traits and more like basing the face mold of your android based off somebody's porn viewing habits like in that movie ex machina with Oscar Isaac.

All that being said he was designing a monster to impress German and Swiss scientists in the 17th century of course there were eugenics involved in his reasoning on the features. But the loosely implied eugenics are not even the most racist thing about the book either. It takes time out of its day to be orientalist as fuck. When Clerval comes to school he's taking fucking oriental studies which lumps together Arab Indian and Chinese philosophy, when the monster is living in the out house of the peasants an Arab woman named Safie arrives and her whole motive for being there is that she is trying to marry Felix because in the west women are allowed to have a station in society(citation needed) and if she went back to those barbaric Muslim countries she would be forced to join a harem. And then Clerval decides his calling is to quote "aid in the European colonization of India" and that line is just glossed over, he's a completely sympathetic character, and he dies at Adam's hands before he can do it. But I don't particularly blame Mary Shelley for any of that because who was gonna tell her that that's racist? It's the background radiation on society at the time. I hope if I ever get published people reading my book in 200 years will think of me as a pioneering trans author in my genre who was low key racist because it will mean society got better on the race issue.

Anyway tl;dr maybe, but reading the creature as a stand in for marginalized people is reading way against text (I think if you're reading it as a trans allegory the against text reading could work but a racial minority reading falls apart very quickly). The book contains orientalism that is jarring to a modern audience so let's not put the cart before the horse. It like most novels written in a year that starts with a 1, is a product of its time and requires that you read it with that in mind. it's part of how you read a book

It’s actually a pretty common thing to see someone “switch sides” with their opinions but not actually change their views, but simply change the lens by which they view them. You see it a lot with leftist “alt right pipeline” stories and it’s less common inverse. And by nature radical feminists are, well, radical. So, it makes sense for people “switching sides” from other extreme ideologies like religious fundamentalism would be drawn to it as a way to “reform.”
