Can someone please tell me what the head cannon femme!leo or transfemme!leo is all about. I’m not against it. Love me some queer/trans pride but I personally don’t see it. I’d love to hear some other peoples thoughts on it because I don’t really have a fully fleshed out idea of where it came from and the basis behind it.

hmm... had to think about this for a while and talk about it with co-author, but here's what we got. we mostly base this stuff on how plausible it is in show/if there's evidence for it. with a dash of personal experience. This only applies to residuum, btw. I have different personal headcanons for these characters outside the comic.

april: lesbian. this is mostly based off of the fact that most aprils get with their caseys & the comment she said to dale. which could be taken as disinterest in dale specifically, but she seemed more concerned with impressing that popular girl earlier and that reads as more... saphic, i suppose. or at the very least homoromantic.

raph: raph is just raph. we look at him and basically just *tv static*. go crazy. all we got is jokes or stuff that has too little evidence to support. so, yeah, he's whatever you want him to be i guess?

leo: trans. already said my reason in the other post. also, gay. if gay were a power source he could power the entirety of the united states for five months straight without a single power outage. failing power grid notwithstanding (< thats the actual word. its supposed to be mushed together like that. wack.).

donnie: as much as i'd like him to be ace/aro spectrum rep, he just doesn't have the evidence in show for us to apply it to him in this comic. it's funny, for being hc as ace so often he sure is the most outwardly romantic/sexual turtle in the show lmao. one! cherry: "you're so cute, but you're so mean! why do i always go for your type?" two! astrogirl?? (whatever her name is) he is very very romantic with her. he has a type y'all. also just look at those two, he's a leg man lmao (bootyyshaker9000 anyone? ha!) anyway. and with the bromance/instant chemistry he had with that one guy in the purple dragons... there’s no confirmation on his ascendant, but i’ve seen people suggest cancer ascendant (with a virgo moon & scorpio sun). that would mean that:

Leo is trans in this iteration, but he's not wearing a dress cause Splinter put him in one, he just had a ballet hyperifxation ( that lays dormant in his teenage years because he just forogt about it lmao) so he wears this ballet costume he got for halloween EVERYWHERE. Even though he is trans, Leo likes wearing dresses as a kid and he really appreciates ultra femme things as a tot (and also later once he is more comfortable in his identity). Just wanted to put that out there!

Casey is a wonderful driver but he's a little reckless and the combination of Casey's reckless driving and his very small backseat makes for a very not fun ride for Leo. He can usually distract himself though! The scope is a Littmann Master Cardiology in plum and the book is Being Ace: An Anthology of Queer, Trans, Femme, and Disabled Stories of Asexual Love and Connection edited by Madeline Dyer. Yes, that's a mouthful but what a joy it was to read an entire collection of short stories that I could relate to in some way or another! They were all noteworthy in some way but I'm going to highlight the ones I really enjoyed.

Across the Stars by Dawn Bowman: In this futuristic story set on a space colony, Freya has been reluctant to leave the safety of her home since her parents passed away. Most of her social interactions are with AI, until one day one of her robots malfunctions, forcing her out into the world to find a way to repair it, where she meets what seems to be a very personable AI named Zoey.

Give up the Ghost by Linsey Miller: Cass has an unusual and isolating job for a young person: she escorts grievers through an enchanted cemetery that allows them to communicate with their lost loved ones. What the survivors don't realize is that the boy she loved, Athy, is buried there as well, and her motivation for taking this post was to discover the identity of his murderer. But the real mystery is whether she can be satisfied to learn the truth and move on with her own life.

Smells Like Teen Virgin by S.E. Anderson: I didn't want to like this one--I don't like vampire stories and the title even made me cringe a bit, but it was so cleverly-written. Artemis comes from a long line of vampire slayers, and tradition dictates that she lose her virginity by age 18 or she becomes a danger to herself and her community by attracting an inordinate amount of monsters with her pungent "virgin blood." But Artemis is proudly asexual and doesn't wish to have sex even once, and sets out to prove that virginity is merely a social construct and her community's ideals outdated and inaccurate.

The Third Star by Roanna Sylver: Brenna, Leo, and Orion are the only survivors after their spaceship was attacked by Fenrir, a monstrous wolf thought to exist only in Norse mythology. They left behind family members when they boarded their escape pod--which is running dangerously low on oxygen. They're also involved in a queerplatonic relationship with each other that has become horribly strained because they are exhausted, scared, and struggling not to blame one another for their near-hopeless situation.

The Mermaid's Sister by Moniza Hossain: In this re-imagining of "The Little Mermaid," Phoebe discovers her idealistic sister Ariel made a Faustian deal with a sea witch and embarks on a journey to save her from humanity. A merman prince from another kingdom to whom she is betrothed insists on accompanying her, but she hasn't confessed to him or the rest of her family that she doesn't desire romance or marriage with anyone.

The Witch of Festa Falls by S. J. Taylor: In 18th century Norway, Birga is an outcast in her town because she has no romantic interest in anyone, but when young girls start wandering into the woods and go missing, it's Birga who's able to uncover the truth about their disappearances. She's also the only person who has a chance of avenging their deaths and preventing more without meeting the same fate.

Within the structure of Pjo canon,transfem Percy holds a lot more weight than Percy being attracted to any male character does.Percy as a character since her conception was made to defy traditional manhood and while it's true that positive masculinity is something that deserves to be represented in children's media much more often,she's far from the right character for it because the thing is the reason Percy is who she is she's completely lacking in masculinity fullstop.This dosen't necessarily mean she can't be a gnc man but 1.She can be a woman too since genderfluid,bigender and other multigender people exist and they can be transfem by being amab 2.It is erasure to masculinize Percy regardless of what gender you see them as.Transfem Percy is straight up transmisogynistic because in canon she's feminine but transmasc Percy isn't any better because it's just 'you can only be a trans man if you're masc' regurgitation

Percy is constantly said to be different from male characters with an emphasizes on them being men-Piper saying she's not her type because she's not manly looking like Jason,her as a heroic foil to Luke who's pretty much the personafication of ancient greek men and their brutal nonstop violence to ancient greek women,the overhanging theme that Percy never wants to be a god because she dosen't want to turn into her dad or Zeus or any of the MANY men who've hurt her and it's her plot with Zoe to prove herself as nothing like ordinary men.And the thing about that last one is,the fandom loves to call the Hunters of Artemis te.rfy and say they have r*dfem energy but this is more on them because the Hunters never speak of biology,only gender identity and Titan's Curse wasn't 'Not ALL men',it was 'Yeah no men as a group are genuinely awful but Percy's built different than normal ones and that's why Percy's our protagonist and a role model for you'

She herself is aware of this-She's always insulting guys as she uses them being guys as the basis behind her dislike and often wonders what the appeal of being a guy even is,both from an attraction persective as she finds the male gods' extreme conventional attractiveness and stereotypically male to be really offputting and on herself as she frequently complains about having to live up to those things too according to society when she just wants to be Percy instead.She often shows a preference for femininity on both those aspects too and it's very important to note that Percy's positive important m/f dynamics are:Grover who is soft and sweet and considered 'unmanly',Beckendorf who is black and acts like her big brother,Frank who is a transmasc-coded moc and her family member,Jason who is an actual example of healthy and positive masculinity and that she met while having amnesia and most of all NICO who she sees as her kid brother,pseudo-son and is the first gay Percyverse character that was made gay by crushing on her but got over her because he realized she's not the ideal man he thought she was and calls her cute when saying this to her to reassure her she's still pretty because he loves her even if not like he thought because he thought they(her and him!)were something else

Now,i'm not saying Percy can't like boys at all.I actually headcanon her as bi and ship her with a good handful of male characters(Jason,Leo,Ethan,Carter and Magnus)but you are making her not Percy by removing her trauma involving men and resulting discomfort with them and her femme traits because these are major parts of her that make her who she is as much as her sense of humor,attitude and mannerisms do and while i hate him as a person and have since i was 12,Rick has stated that he never intended Percy as liking men romantically and has expressed no interest in changing that or ever stated Percy is cis but he did say he'd be happy and supportive of a poc playing Percy in adaptions and it says quite a lot that people get more angry over afrolatino Percy content-specifically that interpretation,the antiblackness focus in racist Pjo cannot be ignored-because it 'goes against canon' than they do over Percy having who she actually is taken away from her,the representation she provides as neurodivergent and poor protagonist who has zero conformity and is potrayed as cool and hot for it instead of a loser

Pjo fans think it's worse to say Percy's not a skater boy or stupid or lame or an egoist or dosen't has a thing for blondes than it is to turn an audhd abuse victim with implied bpd and ptsd who's an anarchist and works hard to break the cycle of abuse both personally and as a societal structure into a generic male mc.They think Percy would rather give up her entire self to be a man who's obsessed with every man she meets than be a femme trans woman or even just femme and they lash out when she is potrayed as transfem and only accept male femininity in her when it's for sexualizaton for guys they want her with instead of making herself happy.This is,without a doubt,transmisogyny

Would join but I haven't draw any tmnt arts in a while and my femme Leo is not exactly trans because biologically Leo is a fem in my au before the whole mutation thing but since the mutation I guess Leo is more masculine with how splinter is raising them all as a boy (and honestly I don't really do the nsfw stuff and fuck accurate biology I guess-) and I guess because of that Leo is having gender crisis and got period late(I mean they're supposed to be more humanoid right?)

So basically uh, biologically female,but raised as male then embrace the fem at the end

Sorry for the rambles it's been so long since I'm in the fandom and recently it resurfaced so I guess I'm back-

We would count that I think! Gender is complicated, you hear about stories like this from intersex people, being seen and raised as one gender, and then puberty hitting and their primary gender being something else (of course, there is a lot of ways growing up intersex can go, so thats only one take)

We're using the umbrella definition of trans, so that counts anything on the nonbinary spectrum, and intersex experiences like this can count too (it very much depends on the individual through, some intersex people want to consider themselves trans, and some don't)

So really, the only limiting factor here is if YOU think they belong here. If you consider their experience outside of the gender norm and they're fem, they're welcome here!

As for drawing, official sign ups open in just a little over a week, and will be open for two weeks, so there's plenty of time to draw something! And with the interest check still open all you need to do is say you're interested in participating in the post and we'll add you to the group to check in on at the end of sign ups (we accept late sign ups from this group! So an extra week to work with!) We also accept old art, you don't need to draw something new to submit if you don't want to!
