#transformers soundtrack

So I've been listening to the Transformers soundtracks obsessively. I've been restraining myself from blabbering about them but I gotta get this one off my chest. There is a lot of play with theme in the 5 soundtracks. More than most would assume.  Each soundtrack is it's own individual being but it also has flashes of evolution throughout all the soundtracks. 

There is one theme that is present in every single soundtrack in some capacity. I always thought of Bumblebee Captured as it's own separate entity when listening to the soundtracks because it's my favorite track. Its probably one of my favorite songs of all time. It's emotive, it's rich, it's dynamic. It draws me in every time.  This listen thru though I realize oh that's the No Sacrifice, No Victory theme. It's obvious I have no idea why I missed it. Simultaneously I got really and I do mean really into the track Optimus. The flute was so beautiful with just a hint of grief. I felt very connected.  And then I realized they all 3 have the same melody and felt like an absolute idiot. 

So I kind of thought for a minute about the melody and its connections. Who is the melody associated with? What is its purpose thematically?  Which is when I was like Optimus, duh. There's a reason it's on all five scores. So I had the thought: why is it on Bumblebee Captured? And then it hit me. 

It wasn't Sam's sorrow nor Bee's nor even the audience's. It was Optimus'.  The LAYER that adds to the story. That when Bee is captured we are hearing the raw grief of being a leader in an endless war. 

THIS is why you shouldn't sleep on soundtracks for blockbusters. This is why you should always give things a chance.  My favorite song got just even more my favorite by adding a whole new layer. Someday I might analyze all the soundtracks for more of this but for now I'll hide in my hole with Optimus' theme and cry, thanks

Asha and Starboy from Disney's Wish - more specifically, Wish's concept art :''') I haven't seen the movie, but I think I can confidently say that I would've been more interested in seeing it if they'd kept the romance/soulmate dynamic from the early concepts.

This a new and improved release of the first G1 score vinyl released in 2018 now as a double vinyl with 42 tracks from seasons 1,2 and 3 plus two new tracks. We also have our first look at the new front and back cover art by artist Matt Ferguson.

To top it all, the new Transformers Theme Tune 40th Anniversary Remix used during the last fanstream is also available via  Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and Qobuz.

Will this little wip ever become a full thing? Depends on if I ever figure out how to draw Windshear. Context under the cut:

To summarize her backstory, Windshear is my seeker mercenary-turned-peacekeeper OC. Senator Shockwave was the one who believed in her and convinced her that she could be good. He supported her as she adjusted to not killing people for money anymore, and what a glow up she got because it turns out the peacekeeper life (her own idea) fit her perfectly.

Of course, when Shockwave got empurataed, she searched for him for a very long time. Separated from her main supporter for centuries, not to mention a war rendering the peacekeepers useless (in her own words, they were never meant to wage war outright but to stop it from escalating to that point in the first place), all that uncertainty and hopelessness, she relapsed back into the mercenary lifestyle. Only this time she was more Arthur Morgan-like, and fully aware that what she was doing was wrong. She tried to stay out of the violence, do anything she could to just finance her finding of Shockwave.

Their reunification is not an easy one. Shockwave being a completely different person now is only partially the reason. But they are together now and they will heal, Windshear will make sure of it.

I have had this concept cover art for quite a while... was for a comic idea showing Starscream alongside Predaking having an aerial race, an excuse to draw more backgrounds, and especially cloudy vistas.

Never got past this stage but I hope when I get my creative energies back (I'm only using them for a commission I need to finish right now) to find myself tackling this idea again!

*taps mic* if youve never seen it you should watch the transformers the movie 1986 (yes i have to say it like this every time) even if you havent seen any transformers media and especially if youve only seen a bayverse movie

but in general just to see the glory of like. this kids movie that was in theatres as an animated movie with so much death and destruction and cosmic horror but also like. robot dinosaurs and weird al.

and obvs the most sick ass soundtrack youve ever heard

Slightly underrated reason I think it would be kind of cool if the audience finds out Tech’s alive before the other characters do and spends at least a little time separated from them: Tech getting to develop his own musical motif the way Omega and Crosshair have.

Actually, if I’m honest, I’d like them to all have their own motifs. Echo almost has one, but they could push the clone theme a little more to make it his own. I’m not sure Hunter’s motif isn’t the softer version of the bad batch theme (even though the full fanfare is all of them), and of course Wrecker needs one. Because imagine a moment with all of them reuniting and the music layering their various leitmotifs together and it transforming into the full bad batch fanfare. I would punch the air so hard, you have no idea.
