Rei is very hungry.

Very very very very hungry.

I should tally how many times I’ve heard his stomach grumble. (Not including the times I’ve had to loop the stomach grumbles to catch the dialogue.)

Someone get this boy some food pls.

(It’s okay, Kazuki will be there... eventually.)

Rei is so depressing, he speaks super slow which makes him the easiest to translate.

(The drama is 16 mins long and I’ve only translated 2 mins in.)

I can only thank you for the uproar that my post caused and how our combined effort allowed us to influence the situation at the big scale

If you go to that person's profile page rn, you won't find any of the translations there

Either the reports worked a great deal or this person saw the threads on Tumblr and promptly hid all of the translations in the drafts (you can do that here) — I tend to believe the second sequence of events since otherwise ficbook.net would just straight up delete the account that violates the guidelines. So this way, this person can still keep a low profile with all of their hidden translations, the chance for them to reappear on the site again very much feasible

The same goes for their Telegram channel where they re-posted the works of art without the artists' permission — now it's private so it would be impossible to see if they continue with unauthorized

But the important thing is, that this person lost the platform where they publicly (re)posted the works of other people when they had no right to it. So good job everybody!

Initially, I wanted to feel compassion for this person but the more was revealed the less I felt it. Ultimately, it was their choice to blatantly disregard not only the rights of one to intelectual property but also the rules of the site. They have received a warning from me the first time I found out about this yet decided to continue with unauthorized translating despite having a better way to go about this. At the end of the day, they deserved it.

The only thing I'll have to worry about rn is the followers of this person (who number 300+ at this point) to rise in arms against me since i was the catalyst of this whole thing

But anyways, thank you so much to each one of you who interacted with the post and made the effort of filing reports, it all meant a great deal. Good job everyone!!!

Also minor life update

This blog isn't dead nor are the translations.

I'm just trying to get a few commissions and exams out of the way (national exams my beloathed) since I have inexcusably made the terrible choice to take Japanese, Biology and Literature for the exams and I need to actually catch up on all the new syllabus before I can chill and translate.

So hope you guys don't mind. I'm still up for asks and stuff to discuss plot points and characters (particularly for Friends and White Brigade, but I can try for other spinoffs and main) so feel free to drop some.

That said I'm planning on buying LADY and Illegal soon, so maybe there will at least be some level of content on those.

this is mainly for myself, just a reminder. might delete this once i'm done.

try and work on hynb vol 1 chapter 5

go through previous chapters and make some needed edits (mainly regarding formatting and wording)*

scan the novel illustrations and add them to the chapters

get volume 2 scanned and ready

This is an ongoing situation as of 2023.06.24.

My friend Yilin (she/they) does a lot (A LOT) of work translating literature from Chinese to English, among other things. And they allowed me to signal boost this on tumblr since she doesn't have one yet.

Key points: The British Museum stole their translation work and used it, uncredited, in a major exhibit where they "appeared in photos on a giant display, on signage, in a physical guide, in a digital guide, in an audio guide, and in an app that is available for international download. How did NO ONE catch there was no credit?"

The response from the British Museum has been enormously disappointing so far:

"we will not be reinstating the translations in the exhibition that have been removed following your complaint, and therefore you will not be acknowledged in the exhibition as your work will not be featured" - except the uncredited translations are still in the 30,000 copies of the exhibition catalog.
