BS High (dir. Martin Desmond Roe & Travon Free).
HBO's sports documentary lays out all the embarrassing details behind the largely non-existent Bishop Sycamore High School and how their fake football team was badly defeated on national television against powerhouse IMG Academy. Former head coach Roy Johnson's inclusion reveals a truly unrepentant narcissist who didn't care how he destroyed several promising young futures.

Best Live Action Short Film at the 93rd Academy Awards

Two Distant Strangers (2020)
32 minutes
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Remember their NAMS
END
.

With the Winter Solstice Comes Superpowers! Black Solstice is coming this December #comics #comicbooks #graphicnovel

This title is set to arrive right on time for the Winter Solstice this December. Last winter solstice, the world was transformed when every Black person in America gained…

Very interesting film, nowhere near as bad as the clickbait title sounds. I hadn’t seen it before tonight. Trigger warnings below the readmore
These are in no particular order
Murder, institutional racism, gun violence, gun-related death, asphyxiation, death by asphyxiation, antiblackness, internal terrorism, sadism, torture
Lots of callbacks to the murders of Black people by cops
Some reviews called it torture and/or trauma porn. I’m not sure how well it fits in that category, considering who it was made for, the people who wrote it, and the fully intentional theme, but I’m no expert.
Also I wouldn’t call this a trigger, but the film was left open ended, which fits but is still sad.

BS High Review- A Sports Documentary That's Not Too Hard To Believe For Those Who Know About This Sort Of Thing
Football is a billion-dollar industry. It has grown by leaps and bounds since its creation. The last few decades have made it one of the biggest industries in the world. Fans and everyone in between turned professional, college, high school, and youth football into more than just a sport. Everyone wanted their piece of the pie. Including crooks who didn’t care if kids were used in making their…

[ad_1] Last season's Jacksonville Jaguars were one of the NFL's most improved teams. After their disastrous 2021 campaign that yielded a 3-14 record, the Jags landed the No. 1 overall pick (Travon Walker), splashed the pot in free agency (Christian Kirk, Brandon Scherff, among others), and hired Doug Pederson to replace the departed Urban Meyer. Much of the improvement came on the offensive side of the ball. In 2021 under Meyer, the Jags were one of the league's most inept offenses: They finished the season ranked 27th in yards, 32nd in points, 29th in expected points added per play, and 27th in Football Outsiders' DVOA. Last season under Pederson, those numbers improved across the board, as Jacksonville checked in 10th in both yards and points, tied for seventh in EPA per play, and ninth in DVOA. Wide receiver and return man Jamal Agnew sees things improving even more in 2023 thanks to the presence of a new teammate: Wide receiver Calvin Ridley, who was acquired from the Atlanta Falcons ahead of last season's trade deadline but had to sit out the remainder of the season while still serving a suspension for violating the league's gambling policy.  "We've got an explosive offense, obviously we've got Kirk, Zay [Jones], Evan [Engram], Travis [Etienne], myself, and then obviously Trevor [Lawrence] playing quarterback," Agnew said, per talkSPORT. "But add Calvin into that offense off of what we built last year already? The league gotta watch out." Please check the opt-in box to acknowledge that you would like to subscribe. Thanks for signing up! Keep an eye on your inbox. Sorry! There was an error processing your subscription. As for what it is about Ridley that makes him so special, Agnew elaborated. "Just the way he moves, you can see. His route running, he can run, catch anything you throw to him, he's just different, man," Agnew said. "You just watch him out there, he's a mismatch nightmare. In my opinion I don't think anybody can guard him in the league." The last time we saw him play a full season, Ridley caught 90 passes for 1,374 yards and nine touchdowns. That was back in 2020, when he was still working as the No. 2 wideout alongside Julio Jones in Atlanta. Now, he's the No. 1 target, working alongside Kirk, Jones, Engram, Agnew, and more, with one of the league's ascending young quarterbacks looking his way. Jacksonville is surely counting on him to take things up a notch. Berkreviews BS HIGH @ Tribeca 2023
#tribeca2023 #bshigh
BS High is an HBO documentary directed by Martin Desmond Roe and Travon Free that grabs its audience and throws them into the deep end. At first, the audience thinks there is no way the story of this documentary can get any scarier than that initial plunge of cold water that rushed up their noses. Then, just as they start to catch their breath, the film slams them back underwater time and time…
