So I watched The Amazing Digital Circus and I had to make an oc cause I can never like something the normal amount. I even thought about making another one just cause I got an idea but that one probably won’t be made tbh. My favorite characters gotta be Jax, Kinger, Caine but I really love all of them.

This is Mono! He is kinda just animal soup (canine head, raccoon tail, goat legs, cat paws for hands). I don’t know if I’ll make him a mute character or just one of those characters that everyone thinks is mute till he is just randomly speaking and it always catches people off guard. With his design I also wanted to make him one of those characters that are just constantly looking at people with the side view otherwise he creeps people out if he looks at them face on. I don’t have much in terms of story just yet but I might try and give him a bit of a backstory just for the funnies.

Btw, I am trying so hard to get his damn legs right but I hardly ever draw proper digitgrade legs so I might not make a lot of full body drawings of him till I study some anatomy.

I just found the hero's aspect armor in totk and oh boy. I can understand why ppl don't like how it looks. The way the model is shaded in game really doesn't do it any justice. I found, that if you go to a place with no harsh light, it doesn't look so bad, at least to me. so I think part of the issue is just shadows. Though the decision to make his face paint/tattoo connect over his mouth is definitely.....a decision. One that I wouldn't have made but alas. It is what it is. (under the read more you can watch me go insane trying to find an explanation for why he looks the way he does)

The whole set raises a bunch of questions. I've seen people call him a zonai, but I disagree. To me, he looks nothing like a zonai. sure the face is kinda similar and as well as that dark grayish- greenish skin color, but he also has some big differences. He has digitigrade legs, a tail, no horns at all nor the tufts/scales that Rauru has, a different kind of nose and notably different ears. The red hair, neck ring (?) and the ornament on his forehead are also very similar to Gerudo . At this point I'm already throwing my hands up in the air because what in the goddamn fuck kinda crossover is this. Who are you. Why is there no explanation for any of this. Why Nintendo. A suggestion would be that he might be a descendant of them, but that also seems unlikely, the traits just don't match up. Neither hylians nor zonai had tails or digitgrade feet, so why would their descendants have them ? It seems more logical to me that the ancient hero was a member of another race, perhaps related to the zonai, perhaps not. I'm not even going to attempt to figure out what kind of 6th- no- 7th race this was. I'll think about that mess another day. For now lets just leave it at that. I also just dislike the idea of him being the descendant of Rauru just like totk Zelda is confirmed to be. That brings me to the next point, the clothes, which are very clearly in the same style as the zonai and the main reason someone would assume at first the he was zonai (besides his animalistic look) Since I'm going with the assumption that he's not (directly), that raises the question of why the ancient hero would dress in the same fashion if he lived tens of thousands of years after the last zonai had disappeared. well. here's where shit goes a bit off the rails. See, one thing I've noticed about the ancient sages, is that similarly to the champions in botw, they also had their own versions of champions garments. Instead of blue and white ones, they had white and gold garbs in zonai fashion. Looking at the zonaite set in totk, you'll notice that the white and gold cloth with triangles is also present in that armor set as well. None of the other hylian guards seen in the memories have that garb, although they do have a similar headpiece with the fanned out feather crest. The zonaite set also seems like an "elevated" version of the ancient guards outfit. Red feathers, green stones and a more ornate look give it more resemblance to what Rauru and the saints wore as well as connecting it to the guards attire.

(I am aware that I am becoming the connecting dots meme but HEAR ME OUT-) Notably, the armor which the ancient hero wears is quite literally the same as the one of the zonaite set. If this garb is connected to positions close to the royal family similarly to the champions tunic, that would indicate the ancient heroes position as royal knight SO why the fuck was the little green cat man, who lived thousands of years later, wearing that ancient zonai royal knight armor? Good fucking question. Maybe it was passed down to generations? If this race was related to the zonai, perhaps they also kept some of their cultural heritage alive? Who knows. I sure don't. The more I wrote about this the more I realized just how puzzling this guy is. Maybe I'm overthinking it and he's just some descendant.

couple art things i need to practice cause i think im slipping a bit on them:

long noses from the front. i can do flat noses just fine, but noses that hook especially are really hard for me right now

posing. as always. id like to not have to reference really really closely every time i want to draw something

multiple people. especially when theyre touching each other in some way. i dont know why drawing one person is fine, but when a second is introduced my skill drops by like 15% lol

patterns on clothes. im getting there, but its still hard lol

people smiling from the side. getting profile proportions right is still a work in progress, and people's open mouths are still really rough for me

closed-toed shoes from the front. those throw me off a lot.

finding a way to do subtle facial hair with markers. maybe using colored pencils could solve it honestly. ill try that next time i draw wilbur or phil

backgrounds. i can do environments, but backgrounds for character art always throws me off.

coloring black hair. like the color black. because getting the shine and mass for it while still keeping it dark is a bit hard.

making plants look less plastic-y. the laurels in my icon look like succulents and theyre not supposed to be.

digitgrade legs from the front still give me so much shit lol. implying the slant backwards below the knee is always hard for me because i cant make it look like its actually like.... further back in the image. thats probably just something color picking can fix.

and finally, kissing. kissing is so fucking hard to draw. i hate u kissing. sorry kissing i didnt mean that. but its like how do i draw kissing without making it look like how i drew yaoi boys kissing at 12. u kno.

Any cursed biology knowledge to share with the class then Vazel?

I dont know about "cursed" but techincally speaking if Stolas is an owl this means he has a uropygial gland, this gland is so birds can produce an oil for preening, waterproofing, ect. (you can look up uropygial gland and read up). On Owls they have one at the base of the tail. Technically this means Stolas is not just oily but specifically his butt. If Blitzo is based on a iguana based on his back spikes which tend to be one of the most prominent features maintained on iguanas, he should have a parietal eye which would presumably be where his forehead mark is as it's also not a readily visible thing. While Pikachu was design wise based upon a squirrel, in Detective Pikachu they gave him no paw pads, this is fairly consistent with how Pikachu moves as being a pokemon that seems to walk both digitgrade and plantigrade like rabbits, most of them do not have paw pads because they don't handle repeated impact very well and so instead they developed shock absorbing fur to withstand it. Tomato frogs sweat glue. No show connected i just remember that often and think it is cool. If any creatures you create have massive horns and or ears, they're likely important for temperature regulation because it allows blood to travel closer to the surface of the body and cool down before going back in. In the US when everyone was trying to kill off wolves, they also after some time tried to kill off coyotes seeing them as more pathetic wolves (iirc it was Mark Twain who even hated them and may have somewhat jump started this as he owned many cats and its likely some were killed by coyotes) but part of why the hate has remained persistent unlike wolves is because we failed to kill them because Coyotes have a thing where if they know theres less coyotes in the area they'll adjust their litter size to have more. I highly recommend looking up biology of the animals referenced for the fantastical creatures you create as it can lead to a lot of interesting things to consider! And if not at least can be funny to learn!

I think my favorite part of drawing Chaotic creatures is trying to wrangle them simultaneously in my style, while still adhering to their s1 appearances. They simplify them so much to focus on shapes (which I’m grateful for), and they’re generally more appealing to look at without clutter all over them.

General basics:

It's very important to keep your suit brushed! Using short fur will minimize the need for frequent brushing but lets assume your mane and tail will have long pile fur and will definitely need a brushing. (plus people WILL hound you about an unkempt suit..). Video above talks about using a slicker bush if you use this brush use it in the opposite orientation. Some people also suggest online a tangle teezer since it is gentle on fur.

Avoid mud and dirty areas if you can help it: But knowing I myself go to park meetups with furry friends. had me take a different approach adding PVC fabric to the hoof feet.

Avoid food and drink spillage on your suit

Don't store your suit in hot areas. Heat damage is very hard to fix.

Also Underarmor shirt and pants is recommended: Or anything that wicks away sweat is good!

Cleaning:

Spot Cleaning: There's a few recommended cleaners to use but yeah be careful about mixing your own solutions. Folex is a great cleaner, also dawn dish soap, and also very common cleaner is rubbing alcohol (its great for eliminating sweat odors. you might want to dilute it but some sources say that is optional most stores sell it at 70% solution)

Washing using your everyday washing machine: IT'S VERY IMPORTANT TO USE COLD WATER ON DELICATE (yes I did caps on purpose here because I can't emphasize this enough). Woolite is always best since its basically a wearable carpet.

The bathtub method: If you are worried your washing machine might beat up your fursuit too much and there's fragile parts sewn in the body you can also try the bathtub. Also same thing use cold water and possibly use woolite in the tub. Similar to the spot cleaning method you can use your hands to scrub in the cleaner or a gentle scrub brush. Also note it will get VERY HEAVY. If your suit is digitgrade and you can remove the pillows you should.

Drying:

DON'T PUT IT IN THE DRYER: This should go without saying but if you live with your mom and she tosses your suit in the dryer it will be VERY bad for your suit. I have heard horror stories of this happening and I don't even trust the no heat tumble dry setting...

Hang dry with a fan blowing on it: It should take about 24 hours maybe less to dry the suit by hang drying with a fan or box fan. And then brush after its dry.

Fursuit Repair: Always a good idea to keep this repair kit with you at cons.

Sewing needle and thread: good for closing up most holes or tares and rips in seems on the suit.

Glue Gun: Good for patching up the tail if the belt loops come apart and/or if there's parts that aren't easily repaired sewing needles.

Thoughts on MH Stories 2 demo

tl;dr - I found the combat system to be alot better than Stories 1, I have a few qualms about the story but I wasn’t expecting a stellar story from this series (although it is better than the story in stories 1)

Putting full thoughts in spoiler dropdown (sorry its pretty long)

- The battle system is SIGNIFICANTLY BETTER than in Stories 1. It feels more polished and balanced, fights are faster and more epic. 

- They nerfed but also simplified Hunting Horn D: 

- No wyverian gibberish!?!? D:

- I like how they are making it super clear that this is a different universe of Monster Hunter from the main series. The trailers have over and over again said that these two are different universes. (so please dont try to connect the lore...) I do wonder if this is why theres no MH gibberish this time around?? On a side note, I found the voice acting in English to be very solid. 

- Gotta wonder why Navirou isnt with your protag from Stories 1 this time around, they’ll probably explain it later

- Wyverians like cheek squishing - thats cute

- Ena has no sense of personal space

- BABY MONSTIES I WANT EM ALL

- I wonder if The Numbers will return to this game, they needed more story imo

- I wonder if special rathalos in this series are gonna just be called Ratha :/ It almost feels like they are just using the word Ratha like its a different species of Rathalos altogether (like a variant) hence why we have our Ratha in stories 1 (a Ratha with a black blight scar) Razewing Ratha (with the wings of ruin), and Guardian Ratha - maybe its because all of these Rathas are monsties? Also why even give them the differentiation lol (maybe its for the merch). Based on how the term “Ratha” is used in the game, it feels like they are referring to it both as its own species and as a nickname, so who knows?

- When the rathalos flew away in the beginning of the game did monsties fly away too? Did our Ratha from stories 1 fly away with them?

- The wyverians get a special kinship stone :o I don’t think Red’s kinship stone is the same as in stories 1 and its super clear that Red is not the protag from Stories 1 

- Wyverians are digitgrade confirmed - though this is a different world/universe after all :V

- My only major issue with the demo = I think the beginning section of the game could have been better. Instead of starting with the hunters looking for Ena and Guardian Ratha, I think it should have set up the village and you getting your first monstie and seeing the village prepare to meet the hunters AND THEN have the party where the riders meet the monsters (we then get introduced to Kyle and Tsukino here) the riders get into about G. Ratha’s location and then they break into the den which causes the thing to happen. The location of G Ratha’s den is so close to the village which makes me wonder where the hell was Kyle and his dad the whole time during the demo?? Also placing the cutscene to me weakens the urgency. It kinda feels like “oh the ocean turned red? who cares! go get your first monstie first!” They do eventually tie everything back together but to me it feels like ok you amped me up -to- ok time to grind for stuff and get eggs. The story is shaping out to be very interesting and solid but the pacing in the beginning just feels wonky to me (kinda like how stories 1 started and ended with the whole black blight plot but the middle was like ???)

For that anti semitic HLVRAI post, I had a question. I head canon Benrey being an alien. He has a human form, which only has fangs and the shadow on his face. Then a more alien-ish but still human-ish form, which has the fangs, shadow, but also digitgrade legs and pointy ears. And then alien form, but that isn't even remotely human so it should be fine. Is all that stuff okay? Like, it isn't at all human in any way with my headcanon and in that head canon, he tried to copy Barney the best he could, so he's like.. I dunno how else to say it but white, if that makes sense??? Sorry, I'm really uneducated but I'm trying to learn cause I don't wanna upset anyone

hhhhhhhhhere's the big project I've been working on! Well, the main one - but yeah! If you're a part of my Discord you've been seeing bits and pieces of me working on this. A digitgrade canine model for VRChat!

I've been enjoying modelling in 3d and making things for myself, so I wanted to try my hand at making things for others. The package includes everything - the Blender files, the Substance Painter files, raw textures and FBX's - everything you'd need.

It's been a lot of work but reception has been good while I've been sharing WIP's, and I hope people really enjoy it! I have the model for sale on my Gumroad (/ kudalyn), and as usual I have a Patreon (/Kudalyn) as well if you'd like to get early previews to projects and the sort.

gonna vent about my Ravens and other Avae for a minute

Deets below the cut I’ve just been working on this race for longer than I really care to think about and... just... i love them, ok?

ok so Avae are bird people and they exist as different genuses (geni? that’s how one conjugates the Latin, at least), phylem, etc. You’ve got Shaped ones and Trueborn, the two main “factions” (because we don’t talk about the Fallen/Corrupted/I don’t actually have a good name for them yet because they are The Reason Avae Have A Bad Name) or categories, then you’ve got the different levels. I’ve been thinking of them as similar to the castes of the Hindu faith because it made sense to me at the time but I’ve thought about it more and that’s hella misappropriative and not cool of me to do (particularly because I don’t fully understand the Hindu faith) so I’m not going to use that term anymore, let’s stick with phylum or class from now on, going from how I had them listed elsewhere:

oh my gods guys the Ravens. I’ll vent about the others in reblogs later.

First oops y’all need to know about the physical structure of these fluffy assholes (the entire race in general)

They’re all digitgrade, Shaped Ones (SOs from here) have tiny scales, reptilian snoots, stiff tails that are root to tip feathers, three digits per extremity, and their mouths look like beaks but are really dino snoots. Think different variations of velociraptor/other bipedal leggy dino. Trueborn are a little softer, their tails are more flexible (think clouded leopard tail and you’re on the right track), and snoots that are a cross between a bun and a cat. Also three digits, short fur (both factions have manes, TBs tend to keep theirs longer and groomed while SOs keep theirs short and bristly like a zeebra or a particularly angry water buffalo.), TBs have gained a shapeshifting magic that lets them look like SOs due to Reasons that I’ll talk about in a Reblog.

BUT OH MY GODS, GUYS. RAVENS.

Ravens (and all the other corvids I listed above) are the priest/ess class. Ravens in particular are Death Priests. That’s right, cousin Maggie died and didn’t stay dead? And instead is wandering around with a bunch of her undead pals as a hundreds-strong hoard of Nightmare Fueling Hunger? Time to call in a Raven.

Yes, that’s right. One. Raven.

You don’t gather a bunch of Ravens together. If a group of Crows is a Murder, then a group of Ravens is a fucking massacre.

Ravens are the most powerful of the Avae, period. Not only because they can order undead to go to the afterlife and fuckign stay there dammit, Maggie we’ve been over this. Because, if given dire and important enough reason, they can band together and literally resurrect ENTIRE GOTDAM PLANETS. It’s literally happened before, when they had to evacuate the Ava homeworld to one of the nearby moons thanks to the previously mentioned Fallen. Given lesser but still dire Reason, Ravens can resurrect entire legions of undead. They’re also the best at putting those Undead back in the ground for good (Yes, Maggie, you can eat these guys BUT ONLY THESE GUYS and you have to go back to sleep afterwards and stay there, I hear the afterlife has nice tea you should go and try it no no don’t come back to tell me just go and enjoy and tell me if I run into you after you’re reborn)

Ravens can summon a HUGE axe (talking a six-foot-tall headsman’s axe here, Avae usually clock at 7′2 at the shortest) made of bones that can literally slice through fucking anything and devours souls. Get them really going and their faces will split down the middle and open up a single eye that is blood red except for the pupil (this is called The Raven’s Gaze, re: the Firstborn Raven who was a Nightmare Inspiring Presence and the not-quite-Goddess of Death of the Avae creator-deity until she was reborn as a tiny fluffy black Raven chick) and will literally freeze almost anyone short of someone immune to Command effects in their tracks. (I will talk about Nightborn and Phoenixes later). Literally all Ravens have some shade of red as their eye color, whether they’re Trueborn or Shaped. Not the biggest of the Avae, but when you have a gigantic pitch-dark red-eyed Murder Death Priest hissing in words unknown at you and brandishing an axe that is made out of bones bigger than yours you tend to forget that other Classes of Avae are bigger.

I mentioned that you don’t group Ravens together. This is because their maker deity (read as Me via something in canon) decided “Holy shit you guys are powerful fucks let me just put a couple of checks on you because absolute power corrupts and is bullshit anyway”. Ravens cannot stand to be around one another. Something about the Death Priest Aura tends to keep them isolated (I wonder why), too they are clingy bastards who cannot stand to be touched by certain things, in particular someone else who radiates Murderbird Power and will throw hands and even other Avae if touched by another Raven or something that has Corrupted tendrils.

A raven and a flock of crows isn’t too unusual, but sticking two or more ravens together for longer than a few days is guaranteed to result in a bloodbath from whence nightmares are born.

Ravens aren’t as bloodthirsty as I may make them sound, though. When they’re allowed to be offduty, they’re giant fluffy cuddlebugs, they get cuddly with whomever of their entourage is ok with it. I mean hell my baby of the Avae, Wren (named by a different character because the Ravens rarely get names because they are so feared) forsakes her Ava form because she’s tired of being feared and she’s touchstarved all to hell. That’s the big thing for them, Ravens tend to not live super long because they’re so feared respected that they’re basically shunned by society and the priesthood has to arrange marriages to Crows and the occasional Hawk because there’s not another super reliable way to keep enough Ravens around in case of emergencies. The Raven population has literally dropped to where Wren is the only living (known) Raven at the point my story takes place, and she books it the fuck out of Dodge as often as she can because she hates being feared.

Humans, when they encounter them, tend to treat Ravens (and other Avae) pretty equally. I mean, they can’t account for the fucking 9-foot-tall-avatar-of-death thing all the time, but they’re better at just rolling with it. Same with several of the other races. Nightborn take to Avae more easily, they were created to be two sides of a coin by their respective Maker deities, but it’s not too unusual for a Raven to find their human (for those from more modern worlds, these people are often nicknamed “Therapy Humans”) and just give them. All. the physical affection. All of it. Preening, cuddling, hugs, napping, etc. After the events of my books (whenever I finally fucking write them oops), it’s actually not uncommon for Ravens (and other Avae too but we’re focusing on the murderbirds right now) to take mates from other races; humans are the most common, because as everyone knows we’re fucking Space Orcs and there are those of our population that will try to have babies with anything, but others exist too. Generally, as long as the Ravens’ “quirks” are accommodated for and they account for how their partners live, these pairs (and poly groups too!) usually have happy endings.

Anthro ponies question - if you ever do a sketch tutorial, could you show how you pose the legs? The ankle always messes me up because it acts like a reverse knee a lot of the time in the show, meaning either i'm drawing the legs huge or they point in all the wrong directions as I try to reference regular sitting poses

I’ve been asked to do tutorials but I honestly have no desire to do any. As for legs, I just think of them not as a reverse knees, because they’re not. They’re ankles, so think of them like so. What I mean by that is, think of the leg of an anthromorphic creature that’s digitgrade as a person who’s standing on the tips of their toes and with their knees bent some.

That’s how I always do it anyway.

If it helps any, try looking at people who wear digitgrade leg rigs for fursuits/costumes: they are basically walking on the tip toes and their knees are bent to help keep them balanced. It isn’t a terribly noticeable bend, but it’s there.

Also something to keep in mind: on the human body, from the bottom of the knee to the heel of the foot is the same length as the thigh(from hip to knee): the thigh is not shorter than the bottom half of the leg. Keeping this in mind helps make them feel more balanced, otherwise you get elongated legs. Now if that’s the intention go for it, but if not, that’s a little tip that could help with proportions some.

A 17-year-old gender neutral shapeshifing technomancer.....

who does DJ’ing in magic bars as a side job, and was recruited by an Elder God to prevent the end of the world.

Their name is Ghost.

Their friend group consists of:

A writer with a magic pen that can give temporary life to her drawings;

A siren who is better at acting than singing and routinely stars in ALL the school musicals;

And a lawyer-in-training who has trouble lying and can argue himself out of a 100-foot hole and convince you to give him your money all at the same time. Ghost is 90% sure he’s a faerie.

Ghost’s brother is an asshole who tries his damndest to expose Ghost as a superhero when they’re not in their suit and trying to save the world.

(They also have no face under their mask when they wear their suit, and have four arms, two tails, and digitgrade legs; think Iron Man, not fursuit)

Ghost is technically still enrolled in high school, but they haven’t been in a legitimate class since their freshman year because they’re busy stopping the apocalypse.

They also have decided that if it was ever invented or innovated, its technology, and they can therefore control or summon it.

The laws of the universe have yet to catch on to this exploit, and now Ghost can summon just about anything, purely because they bullshitted their way through space and time.
