TSP update

I made a chapter better!

Ash is so hard for me to write for some reason. It's annoying sometimes. And I felt like there was something missing from this chapter so I caved and consulted my notes on her specifically.

After that inspiration, I wrote 222 words (nice number) about it! Basically, I originally had Ash immediately use these telepathic probes she recently found, and it seemed so sudden and abrupt. Why is she doing it???

So with the inspiration from her character sheet, I got it.

All except the first paragraph is new:

My finger brushed the surface of the devices. They were overall smooth, but there were ridges, all in a radial pattern around their center. I felt their power pulse into the pad of my finger, causing my body to shudder. When I’d used them earlier, they allowed me to wake everyone I accidentally knocked out. However, I wasn’t so stupid that I didn’t consider they were what made me sick in the first place. Maybe they were what was crying out to me the entire time I was in Alium. An insane thought—I was a thirty-minute walk away when I’d collapsed. Carla mentioned the power activation was likely simply because I was now in Alium. But no one else had the ease that I did. What if it was these devices? That would explain a lot. I’d felt drawn to them. I ran my thumb over them like they were my rings. My curiosity piqued. It was like they were reaching out to me, specifically. Which was ridiculous to think about an inanimate object. Jedi had seemed worried after I told him what happened. He didn’t even want to go down the corridor. Maybe it was because of these. What could he be afraid of? Me unlocking my potential? Carla told me the mind had no limit, and these devices seemed to expand the limit. Maybe I shouldn’t use them just to explore, as much fun as that sounded. But I couldn’t sleep, and these things did help me earlier. Maybe they could help me sleep. It was worth trying, at least.

I’m not. I was simply restating your decision so that it’s clear to everyone what exactly you decided. And how that decision decisively seems to go against the very nature of the single task put on you.

You know. As a narrator should.

Voice of the Hero: Sure.

The door to the basement creaks open, revealing a staircase faintly illuminated by a flickering light that seems to be coming from the room below. You can’t make out much of the room downstairs from here but faint shadows. There’s an eeriness in the air that doesn’t seem quite like the standard basement eeriness. The smell of ink seems stronger here.

Voice of the Hero: Is… this where the princess lives?

It would seem– ah. Here’s our answer.

Her voice carries up the stairs.

“Is someone there?”

Voice of the Hero: She sounds… calm. Somewhat robotic, though; like reading something out of a script. Definitely not how I expected a world-ending threat to sound like.

Yes, you’d think she’d at least try to make her lines sound more emotive. Guess her time in this basement might’ve drained the life out of her, the poor thing. Cooping yourself up in a basement for days on end will do that to you.

Voice of the Hero: She didn’t choose to be here, though.

My point still stands.

TSP Revision Update

Y'know when I started this read-through of TSP for the next bit of revisions, I was expecting to just go through to find places to put in some character ticks.

But like I've done so much more. Yeah, minor changes, but I'm so happy with the progress Part One has been making. Some characters don't feel right with more metaphorical descriptions that I sometimes put in, so I've been making changes to that. Done some clarifying in other bits. Changing Lexi's hairstyle. Kelsey is dyslexic now. Adding in a little bit of character flair.

I love it.

Beta readers, I'm so sorry for the mistakes I've caught RIP since I'm going through my master doc. I realized I put Jedi down for a line that clearly belonged to Carmen??? The phrasing was clearly Carmen and Jedi wasn't even in the ROOM

Ah well this is why I read through this. For those stupid typos I made when I was most likely tired.

I'm just glad y'all are giving me feedback and reading it LOL

Also for those people who've tagged me in the OC in 15 or less game... I'm working on that I swear!! I've been tagged in three so I'm working on pulling lines for three characters. The hard part is choosing lines lol. And choosing characters. Point is, it's taking me a bit. Sorry. But I am doing it.

Anyways, despite Part Two taking a backseat, I'm happy with the progress in Part One.

Sorry for the lack of Stanley! As you've probably heard I'm ( hopefully ) moving soon and so I've just used my downtime to draw personal art and spend time with friends.
