The Little Lies took the stage last night at the Everett Fisherman's Music Festival with a revamped setlist, an audience that couldn't get enough, and a performance filled with wild energy, passion, and a sheer delight of music into which they breathed amazing life.
Sounds like a typical Little Lies show?
Sure. But somehow the band managed to find a groove beyond high energy, beyond high octane for which attempting to find words to describe them at this level of performance would simply be an embarrassing pursuit.
Even their soundcheck hinted at a somehow larger experience, hinted at more. Drummer Cyra Wirth, coming off a show with another band that likes to test the limits of what the human ear can endure, came to the show leveled up, infusing more power, more moxie, more Cyra... into the Little Lies set.
Harry Wirth III similarly came leveled up with more bounce in his entire body, literally leaping up from the stage and, yes. Bouncing all. night. long. And when he wasn't bouncing, he had plenty of T-Rex in him as he stalked about the stage, prowling his way out front, perched right above the audience on a couple occasions during which all eyes were on him.
Miranda Zickler brought a continued and unbelievably sustained passion to her performance, embodying the music she was singing, channeling it, feeling it, dancing it, physically manifesting the joy and the pain crafted into these songs more than four decades ago and somehow conjuring a new magic for fans.
Andrew Vait brought an abundance of fun, creativity and wild energy to the show, treating the crowd to relentlessly masterful and classic moments of lead guitar solos right out in front of the stage, culminating in his best live guitar work on "Tusk", a song that's a thoroughly unique and thunderous experience.
And then Linzy Collins who, well... I have to be careful here because Christine McVie's vocals are, of course, classic. But as with all The Little Lies, Linzy infuses her corner of these classic rock staples with her own passion, her own instrumental and lead vocal gifts, exquisitely rising to unexpected yet inspired harmonies blending wonderfully with Miranda Zickler's fierce lead vocals on "Gold Dust Woman".
Now...
This Little Lies performance, the first this year of a number of upcoming festivals, featured a revamped set list. It crafted a new fan experience from largely the same classic songs. There were all the songs dear in the hearts of fans, of course, but with more musical connectivity between certain songs, and then this: a particular rarity in the set that not only surprised the crowd but delighted, lighted up, and drew them even further into the performance, especially those who grew up with this music, singing along with this welcome surprise (and no, I'm not gonna tell you what it was... there'll be plenty of opportunities to find out for yourself this summer).
In a way, the new set is a spectacular challenge of how long fans can surf the sometimes relentless pace of this iconic music and how much they can match the boundless energy of this band that effortlessly conjures the magic of Fleetwood Mac without the drama. It's a pure experience filled with an abundance of fun and joy and wild energy from all five band members.
One hundred percent The Little Lies leveled up last night.
Just in time for summer.

Can't stop thinking about how Wyll and Astarion's physiology was forcibly and irrevocably altered by their abusers into something nominally monstrous, how they both ask the player to be their mirror when they're unable or unwilling to look at themselves. How they desperately want to be what you see in them. Walk with me.
"They say that anyone who bathes in the River of Blood emerges as one born anew. [Being a devil] is a lot like that, I imagine. I feel the weight of these horns on my head, curling upwards like a mammoth's tusks. I feel these ridges snaking down my neck, not to mention a few bumps and prongs in unmentionable places. But I haven't seen my reflection just yet."
"Be my mirror. What do you see?"
"I've never even seen this face. Not since it grew fangs and my eyes turned red. I don't know [what color they were before]. I can't remember. My face is just some dark shape in my past. Another thing I've lost."
"And what do you see, exactly?"
How they want their bodies to feel like their own again. As far as monstrous magical transformations go, Wyll deals with the fallout of his over the course of the game; Astarion dealt with his in the past (undead) and fears it happening again (illithid).
[Wyll burns in the fires of Avernus. The lightning storms of Dis strike his flesh. His soul passes through each layer of the Hells - gaining their essence, and their torment.]
"Just look at me! I did what was right and Mizora made me pay for it."
"In truth, I don't feel in a festive mood, and I didn't want to cast a grey cloud over the night. I'm a devil. I love the people from the grove but I unsettle them deep down, as I seem to unsettle everyone nowadays. You don't want a devil at your party. Claws will pop the balloons, you see. And the sweetcakes don't taste half as good as raw eggs with this blasted forked tongue."
"I'll have to take your word for it [the horns have character]. I've been avoiding my own reflection."
"A man looks in, a devil looks out. I might never get used to it."
"And to think how much time I've spent wishing I could rip them off. (...) Shit. I'm being insensitive. Sorry. They just take some getting used to."
"Hm. I'm still me, I guess. Sort of."
And we have Astarion, who's been there. Who knows.
"I remember how it hurt, when I turned into a vampire. My body writhed and warped while I was utterly helpless. The grip of death owned my heart as it beat its last. I - I don't want to turn into anything else. I can't do that again. I can't watch my body be taken over."
"Just don't ask me to sacrifice my body. It hasn't been mine for very long."

Here but gone
Wednesday x fem!demon!reader
Wednesday is captured by Laurel gates. Usually she can make a daring escape. But what happens, when Laurel injects you with something that makes you the monster you are…
Warnings: blood, mention of suicide, death, mind control, mutation/transforming, pain, suffering, Wednesday hating love.
Wednesday had known you for a month, 2 at most. And yet, there was something about you that seemed to draw her close to your side.
You were a demon
She had found out when the Hyde had killed Rowin at the harvest festival. A large, red creature, slightly taller than the Hyde with a black mane running from its snout to the end of its spine leapt in front of the Raven hair. She saw how dark, almost black flames swirled in the small cracks of the demons Scarlet skin. It’s large claws had dug into the ground as its giant, dagger like tusks snapped at the attacker as it ran from the boys corpse.
It took one slip of your tongue for her to find out that her savour was you. And she had been intrigued by you ever since…
“Wednesday! Demons are a bit like the underworld version of a werewolf, vampire crossbreed,”
You had told her, your eyes focused on the ground as your other senses tried to detect any life nearby. Incase the Hyde was nearby.
She had dragged you into the woods, searching for the missing town hall that was in the painting she had found. You hadn’t quite followed her excuse, but you knew it was an opportunity to educate her on your kind. And that’s exactly what she wanted from you.
“Unlike vampires, we don’t need blood to live, but if we are fatally injured or loosing our minds, we will become desperate for blood. It’s the only way we can come back to being who we actually are, you know…”
“So it’s the only thing able to save you if your shot?”
Wednesday had asked, Immediately picturing someone trying to shoot you in your other, far more impressive form. It almost brought a smile to her face.
“Exactly like that, it saves us both mentally and physically!”
Both mentally and physically.
Mentally!
Your growl sounded more of a yelp when laurel grabbed you by your hair, a sneer on her face as she plunged the syringe into your neck, forcing the liquid into your veins
Your scream broke Wednesdays unfeeling heart
Laurel threw you to the floor, laughing as your body began to be covered by large, bulging, black veins. You screamed. Again and again. Your fingers cracking into claws that tore into the stone ground. Your head snapped into Wednesdays direction, burning scarlet eyes drawn to the sound of her picking the lock of her chains.
Wednesday froze, attempting to see any sign of you in your eyes. Trying to look past the hungry glare of the predator whose bones began to crack into the shape of the demon.
“Fuck you!”
You yelled, the words becoming a roar as your eyes glared at Laurel again. Hatred burning inside you, almost as powerfully as your hunger.
The red haired ignored you, turning her attention back to the spell. Pain overcame you, causing you to fall face first onto the floor. Your cries becoming growls as your hair seemed to latch onto your back, skin becoming scarlet.
Your ears felt numb, your sight became unclear. All you could feel was laurels rough hand grabbing you by the scruff. All you could hear, was the blade tearing into flesh. All you could smell was blood
Blood!
You growled as the scent hit you hard, struggling in laurels grasp as your transformation came to a slow, painful close.
“Let the mutt finish her off, she’ll kill herself when she returns to her senses. “
Crack stone states as Laurel throws you onto the floor. Giving you a final, painful kick to the gut to go along side the many injuries she had already inflicted on you.
You heard them leaving, and only then, did you dare look back at the girl you had been left with. Left to kill.
‘It saves us both mentally and physically!’
Wednesday thought, your voice speaking in her ears as the demon stared at her. Red eyes looking straight at the knife plunged in her abdomen, tusks dripping with saliva as you watched her blood seep through her fingers.
“Y/n,”
Wednesday says, her voice so much weaker then she would of liked. She hated it, it made her look like prey. More like prey then she already was. You took a step forward, your great, clawed paw scrapping along the floor as you did so.
“Y/n”
Wednesday tried again, trying to find you, any sign of you underneath the predator. You needed blood, she knew that, but if she let you any closer. You would snap your neck, tear her guts out, drink every drop of her blood. But she needed you to snap out of it, not just because Wednesday knew she had to find a way to stop Crackstone, but also because a very small part of her cared for you.
And she didn’t want you regretting this for the rest of your life
Nor did she want you to kill yourself. That was a pathetic, useless waste of your life.
“Y/n listen, it’s me”
You took another step forward, canine ears flicking slightly at the sound of her voice.
“It’s Wednesday, You know it’s me. You talk to me about useless things almost as often as Enid does.”
You pause slightly, foot hanging in mid stride before you shake your great head. Continuing towards her. She coughs slightly, the loss of blood would be getting to her soon, then she would have no way to stop you.
“You didn’t save me from Tyler just to kill me now!”
Another step, you were a metre away, Wednesday could practically see the excitement in your eyes. She wouldn’t be surprised if your tail was wagging behind you. She felt scared, but she refused to let it show.
“You told me you loved me! You asked me to the Raven! You attack the Normies for me! You protected me from the Tyler!”
And you paused, body suddenly freezing at the word ‘love’. No matter how much she hated it, she continued on the topic
“You are the only one who ever got close to my back heart. You are the only one who has ever got away with holding my hand. You, y/n, only you-“
She’s cut off by a violent cough erupting from her chest. The sound makes you growl, your eyes looking at her with a gaze similar to the one you had given her when you had confessed. When you had told her that horrible ‘L’ word.
The one that sounded so sweet coming from your mouth.
You took another step forward, this time not like your were ready to pounce. The action was deliberately slow and careful, like you didn’t want to scare her.
“Y/n?”
She asked, looking deep into your eyes. Your lips turned up into a great tusky grin, a purr rumbled from your chest. Wednesday almost smiled, relieved that you were back
Until you roared
Your eyes twisted from the familiar red to a dark black. Your tusks snapping backward into your throat like a snakes fangs.
“What do you mean mentally?”
Wednesday had asked, stopping in her tracks beside you. The birds chirping in the trees above.
“There is a solution, called Zitronos, it, well, mutates demons. Twisting both our minds and bodies until there is none of us left. It’s cruel, painful and the only known cure if the life energy in peoples blood. People we know as well.”
“Why people you know. Can’t you just go and kill someone on the street?”
You shake your head. A sad smile on your face
“It has to be from someone we know, that way we recognise them and then recognise how we know them and then we come back to our senses. Usually with the persons dead body in front of us”
Wednesday had continued walking, you right by her side, arms brushing hers for a moment. The topic changed to school work, as if what you had just said would never happen.
And now, as Wednesday stares into the black, unfeeling eyes of your demon.
She knew that there was no way to get you back…

So yeah. I don't like Halloween. Reasons include:
It is extremely popular in my cohort, or at least in the circles where I dwell (both online and offline). Oftentimes, it feels like people are trying to make it quasi-mandatory to Love Halloween, in the way that Loving Christmas is quasi-mandatory for many normies. I am contrary and curmudgeonly enough to bristle at this.
I am a theater LARPer, which means I spend a lot of time acquiring and wearing costumes. Costuming for LARPs is great, because it provides a sense of immersion in, and involvement with, a narrative setting; it is a tool for changing reality around you, a little bit, and making it into a story that matters to you. The downsides of LARP costuming are things like "it's expensive" and "it's hard" and "if you're of a certain temperament, there's stress involved in thinking about whether your costume is good enough and whether other people are judging you." Halloween costuming, as far as I can tell, is all downside. It's expensive and/or hard and maybe people will judge you and maybe you care about that, but the costume doesn't plug into any greater anything, it's just a dressed-up you surrounded by people dressed up in unrelated ways.
I don't enjoy trick-or-treating, because I don't enjoy contact with strangers. But more importantly, I have trouble appreciating trick-or-treating, because the notional spirit of the practice is "give us candy because we're threatening you." Which sucks! Wassailing, at least, is "give us food/drink because this is the season of giving and good cheer," and thus gets abstract beauty points even if I would hate it.
And the actual important thing:
...sigh. I have a whole rant about, uh, let's call it "the fakey phony aesthetic of darkness." The thing where people talk about how very much they love monsters and freaks and chaos and abnormality and deviance, but in fact they're incredibly narrow-minded and judgmental and intolerant, it's just that they like the idea of being a spooky outsider (and they hate the idea of being a clean-cut normative insider, even though they are ruthless about enforcing their norms).
The thing where you don't want Beast to turn into a prince, you like him as a hulking furry with tusks and claws, but at the same time you insist that he's just a perfectly inoffensive misunderstood darling who isn't the slightest bit controlling or dangerous or actually-frightening.
Halloween, as it is currently practiced, feels like an encapsulation and a celebration of that thing. It is a scary festival that has ruthlessly had every last bit of genuine terror wrung out of it. At its roots, it's a holiday about warding off evil spirits, but...we aren't actually afraid of evil spirits, these days, and we've kept the empty forms rather than either the old meaning or the old psychology. It should be a holiday about facing down the dark, but nothing about it allows for any facing-down of anything, and the norms of the holiday make it impossible to think that anyone would actually want to do that. I am disgusted.

the fixed eye
a @zelinktines24 story | rated T | botw | complete
zelink pairing with Impa!POV
Thank you to my amazing beta readers @zeldaelmo and @cooking-with-hailstones. You guys are seriously the best.
[prequel story- desire path] [part 1]
Part 2
For zelinktines 2024 day 26 Prompt – “Dancing, here?” BotW references - Memory #7 and Zelda Diary entry #4.
“Hey Kohga…do you know how to cure a fixed eye?”
“Why? You got one?” Kogha leans forward with his hands fanned together under his chin. He’s close enough that Impa can see the details of his Yiga mask in the early morning light that’s started to bleed into the room. Whoever painted the inverted eye had a shaky hand. His gold earpieces, tethered to the side of his face with the leather straps that secures the mask to his head, are warped slightly, bending forward along his jaw like tusks.
Impa taps her spoon against the small bowl in her hands, “Maybe.”
“What’s it about?”
She thinks about telling him everything. About the King and the festival and the bracelet. It feels like talking about it could be the cure, but she knows people can often mistake comfort for a solution.

Legend Reborn
Technoblade is a legend on the QSMP. His deeds are ballads sung in the festive streets of the favela, chronicle of dedication inspiring the monumental stretch of potatoes growing on the wall and tales of hard-won battles uplifting the fight against the worst government known yet.
Sometimes, an unusually large Cucurucho can be found at the shrine dedicated to his memory, fingering a singular emerald earring.
The crown before him gleamed with familiar, unfulfilled purpose.
------------
Technoblade left the DSMP when he deemed Dream’s oppressive server free from the tyranny of governments, forever meant to be more than the sums of suppressive never meant to bes and unfinished symphonies. The tundra that once shielded armies of dogs and withers soon swarmed with the metaphorical winds of adventure, melting the cold heart he developed to survive on this server with its dangerous consequences, urging him onward to his next quest.
The piglin hybrid felt comfortable moving on, like his older brother had, towards an inexplicable future. He trusted his old man Philza to look after anyone who still stayed on the server, especially those who would no longer accept his help.
Philza stood with Steve at the gate to see him off, waving softly while his eyes burned with pride and unshed tears. The older warrior promised himself that he would make the old immortal never worry about one of his sons ever again, the only remaining to make it through the harrowing experience of DSMP mostly unscathed. His father surely trusted him, and only him, to survive despite all the world could throw at him. He would not let him down.
His fur prickled as he followed the warm breeze to warmer climates, ripping away government after government in his path onwards to an unknown ultimate prize. The governments there quickly realized he was coming, hastily setting up assassinations and armies to disway him. Yet Techno persisted, striding unceremoniously into rebellious camps who quickly accepted his tutelage to overthrow sure tyranny. It was a walk in the park after the annoyance it had been L’Manberg, that had been backed by an mask-cladded Admin until it miraculously switched to his side. And besides, even if Tubbo had been a weak president, the sting of Tommy betraying him stung like nothing else.
The king of Antarctica wasn’t meant to get so close to the desert, but Technoblade would make the world realize otherwise. His quest lay south, and then someday he could retire to own a farm.
In his uncomfortable state, he didn’t see it coming that he would be cowardly captured on an assuming night in a desert village near the sea. The anarchist had no time to react, huffing with outraged growls towards an unseeing assailant who didn’t react to a single hit from him as his humble lodgings wavered in his vision. Another Admin had taken interest in him, not even bothering to show its face as it continued to invisibly rain down potions of harming with impassioned precision. He continued to struggle for agonizing minutes with blood pouring out of his mouth and staining his tusks.
Technoblade’s face paled at the predicament he was in as he finally collapsed, lumbering form falling to his knees as his kidnapper removed the crown from his head like they were taking a toy from a toddler.
The piglin hybrid later woke to a cell of stark, lifeless quartz, with nothing but an orange jumpsuit to his name. Soon after, he lost himself to a haze of interrogations and treatments that turned him into something else, a creature with red eyes that eventually passed all the tests except-
He could never manage to speak, in support nor against the federation. It was the only rebellion he had left, as a duck creature handed him a clipboard and gave him his first task.
------------
Philza knew there were multiple Cucuruchos. The immortal had seen Chayanne slink back into the bunker from “night school” enough times, and glimpsed more than one of the white-furred creatures poking into the islanders’ business. Not the career path he would’ve encouraged for his adventurous egg, but the once-famed Angel of Death knew they had little choice in the matter.
Other than the times he saw Cucurucho-Chayanne, there was just one other that bothered him deep down.
One of the newer Cucuruchos was especially odd in comparison to the rest. The creature appeared when Luzu logged on with his binary code messages that oozed of sudden warnings, lumbering behind a pair of regular Cucuruchos with glinting red eyes. It towered over its cousins with muscle, wielding axes and crossbows rather than the classic gun. Tubbo, who was newer to the island but had managed to typically outmaneuver the creatures, had frozen inexplicably at the fireworks lining the crossbows it handled with ease.
Etoiles had gaped when the creature had joined the battle with an arsenal of old school vanilla weapons against three fake eggs, and carried.
“What the fuck?” Cellbit exclaimed as he examined the photo Pomme had taken of the newer creature. The detective looked like he wanted to drink vodka at its looming presence in PVP, only calming with Roier’s reassuring palm on his shoulder.
“No mames!” Roier shook his head in agreement. “This fucking sucks, man.”
“Why are there more of them?” Baghera questioned with a frown. “Why would they need one so big? Is it an intimidation tactic?”
Philza let the conversations wash over him as the order deliberated over what the new creature’s presence meant. The crow hybrid held a photograph in his hand, fingering the emerald earring it wore on its ear. It was the same exact style to his, a piece of jewelry that had been a mystery to him since his arrival to the island.
The old immortal remembered much of his past in comparison to the rest of the islanders. He was the only one to willingly volunteer, able to bargain with the foreboding federation to retain most of his memories.
Philza didn’t remember what he gave up, but he had his suspicions when his memories tried to tell him he never had any family. His heart pulsed with a heart thrumming with power his soul knew had been gifted, making him never age as long as he didn't die in combat. When he first joined the island, the man found a bag of blue dye tied together with a fancy ribbon and a note saying “calm yourself, have some blue”. None of these items had an explanation, especially the emerald earring that swung on his ear-
Until now.
“Does he want to die?” Etoiles inserted as the group gravitated around the corpse of one of the codes, pulling Philza out of his thoughts. “I can give it the gift death if Cucurucho doesn’t want to live anymore?”
His throat hissed automatically, eyes flashing as his mind keys in on the emerald the large creature wore somehow just right.
Multiple pairs of eyes whip over to him. “Woah there, what was that Philza?” Badboyhalo asked.
Philza blinked when he realized he had reacted instinctively to a threat against flock. He swallowed uselessly to calm himself down, angry clicks echoing up into the air instead. Unable to speak, he jerked his head towards the photograph and pointed a sharped clawed hand towards the creature.
“Oh shit guys.” Jaiden spoke up, a fellow bird hybrid. “Philza’s bird instincts think that the new Cucurucho is a part of his flock. Better not hurt the guy until we actually know he’s bad, if we don’t want the case of an angry crow hybrid on our hands.”
“If that’s the case, Maybe we shouldn’t attempt to attack or harm this Cucurucho until we know more about him.” Maximus concluded, looking at Cellbit who looked very tense but gave a reluctant nod.
The group eventually decided to only observe the new federation creature. The crow hybrid’s hackles raised when he noticed Cellbit, Etoiles, and Baghera didn’t explicitly agree to not harm it, but life soon went back to normal for a few weeks when nothing unusual happened.
They noticed the creature had an weirdly normal and routine schedule, easily trackable in how it simply sparred in the middle of the battle dome every morning and built for the Federation in the afternoons following a checklist it regularly squinted at. Philza had to shove down the urge to hand it a pair of glasses when he occasionally approached on Cellbit's behalf to see its tasklist. It never tried to spy or speak to them, content to swing its archaic sword at practice dummies and occasionally amuse the eager Etoiles.
“It's the best monster I’ve ever fought, Philza!” Etolies praised highly one day as they ran into each other at the front of what used to be Las Sacapuntas. “Battling with him is more interesting than anything else on the island except spending time with Pomme because she is my daughter and therefore automatically makes her the best thing to ever happen to anyone and I will kill anyone who says otherwise.” The French player grinned with teeth.
“I’ll keep that in mind,” Philza laughed genuinely at his friend's strange humor, watching the warrior leave as quickly as he came with a fond shake to his head before he teleported to his own base on top of the wall.
That evening, Philza blinked when he spotted the creature outside of schedule by Techno’s shrine, wiping the dirt from his eyes as he stood up from his potato farm.
The hulking Cucurucho looked up from his vigil, turning away from where a crown sat in display on an armor stand. The creature's eyes glinted with a dark red color that strangely made him feel calm and collected.
“Hey mate.” Philza greeted him, wiping the dirt from his hands with spider silk. “Do you know who that is?”
The creature nodded curtly, not speaking nor turning to write in a book.
“He was one of my best friends.” The crow hybrid stipulated as he approached. “A great warrior, much like yourself.” He stood next to the creature. “Mostly I just know him as Techno, and as one of the most compassionate people I ever knew." He craned his head up, gauging the creature's interest in their conversation. "You know why?”
The hulking mass cocked his head, grunting. Philza took that as encouragement to continue.
“Hypixel skyblock was terribly going through a famine before Techno made the potato war happen. You see Cucurucho, even though they're the top server and could've simply asked for help, not many people knew Hypixel actually had food shortages because the number one server doesn’t like people knowing they fucked up." He snorts. "So naturally, my friend took it upon himself to solve the food problem for them. Techno never liked people starving, my so-” He choked, panicking at the unconscious wording. “...Friend.”
The creature reaches towards Philza’s emerald earring with a strange chuff. The old man’s mind translates it reflexively to mean question, curiosity.
“I don’t know what it is, mate.” Philza admitted. “Do you know where you got yours?” For a split second he wonders if the creature stole it, but the idea drains away as the creature shakes his head with an air of confusion.
Cucurucho took a few steps back. He looked at the shrine with an unreadable expression, but his red eyes were so expressive.
“I know this is weird to ask, since you're a federation worker and all but… do I know you?” Philza couldn’t help himself. Why does his instincts see this Cucurucho, out of all of them wandering the server, as his son?
Cucurucho huffed, turning away from him unceremoniously before hopping off the edge of the wall.
Philza leaned back on his hoe in the potato farm for support, stopping himself from following with a panic similar to one of his eggs in danger. The old immortal wanted to talk to it again soon, chest winding up with longing to connect to this unknown creature.
“Dinner’s ready!” Missa called in the distance from the house, likely serving something Chayanne cooked up for his family of four. Philza blinked back unexpected tears when he realized it was potato night, the memories of inexplicable pink fur and comforting chuffs raw against his chest, before collecting himself to have a quiet evening with his anticipating two eggs and husband.

*I'm going to be completely normal about Moonlight Chicken. I'm just going to watch and enjoy it. I'm not going to look deeper. I'm not going to think about..*
Moonlight Chicken's Symbolism and Background Noise
Tumblr media
The series has several Chinese influences and begins on September 10, 2022, which an actual full moon fell on that day. It is the Moon Festival also known as Harvest Moon, Mid-Autumn Moon, or Mooncake. It is meant to be spent with others. In the lunar calendar, it's the mid-point of the year. We know this date from Jim's beer.
Tumblr media
The brand of the beer is Full Moon, and he and Wen drink it throughout the first episode.
Tumblr media
Jim and Wen discuss what is normally seen in the moon. Jim sees a woman (which there is legend about a woman and the moon, but it's too much for this space), but Wen states it's a rabbit. A rabbit normally represents the full moon because both symbolize longevity, peace, and prosperity.
Tumblr media
That's why mooncakes are given during this time. They represent well wishes to the receiver and those shared with a long peaceful and prosperous life.
Tumblr media
Ginger, which Wen shared with Jim, also symbolizes longevity as well as passion and strength.
Tumblr media
Jim's green truck's license plate states frog in Thai. Frogs are a symbol of prosperity and good luck.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Li Ming, whose name means (bright) dawn, wears an Ohio State Buckeyes Football Shirt. Buckeyes are a type of nut and symbolize good luck (thanks college football for that nugget of info!).
Tumblr media
However, this show is doing well with subtle foreshadowing, so Li Ming might run into some bad luck with driving (Heart around) without a license.
Tumblr media
We get some foreshadowing with the DVD Wen picks up at Jim's. This movie is about two lovers who meet in Hong Kong after relocating there from other parts of China. Their lives take them on separate paths, only for them to reunite ten years later in America. The ending shows that they actually sat back-to-back on the train ride into Hong Kong over a decade ago. Aka, they were fated lovers.
Tumblr media
Jim has an Idiot's Guide to Starting a Home-Based Business and Reader's Digest collection of books - Dick Francis' Comeback (about a man who gets entangled with a stranger on his route to his new job), Frederick Forsyth's The Deceiver (about a British agent who is set to retire, but one of the main plots is an affair), and Alexandria Ripley's Scarlett (which continues the story of Scarlett and Rhett from Gone with the Wind, who are estranged, but at the end, reunite). *Also, the condom package is amazing. The C of "condom" is actually the condom. I just think it's neat!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wen has Eric Hall's Monster (which is about famous sport agent Eric Hall who was known for being a money monster). This is likely to be Alan's book because the apartment is filled with art, which is due to Wen being an art director. He was also drinking because of his job but didn't state anything specific about the reason.
Tumblr media
Wen and Alan's apartment is more modern, while Jim's is more traditional.
Tumblr media
When Jim and Wen met at the restaurant, it is Saturday going into Sunday. In Thailand, Sunday's color is red, and its unlucky color is blue. However, In China, red represents good luck, and blue represents longevity. We see these colors often around Jim and Wen (scroll back up).
Tumblr media
Jim was shown mostly in or highlighted by red the first episode with Wen in or highlighted by blue.
Tumblr media
Even Jim's aprons are red. They say Hungry? with a little chicken peaking out of the pockets.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We also see the blues and reds around Heart and Li Ming. *peep the elephant tusks which are encasing the family and symbolize power*
Tumblr media
The bottle Heart drops is Snake Bite Whiskey, and a snakebite shot simply consists of whiskey and lime juice aka it hurts like an actual snakebite.
Tumblr media
Modern Thai Sign Language was influenced by American Sign Language (which was greatly influenced by French Sign Language). It seems as if Heart is telling Li Ming his face scared him, but I'm unsure of the last sign since that is not the ASL sign for surprise, scared, or angry. The second portion seems to consist of Heart saying YOUR MISTAKE, but once again, the second sign is different than ASL's mistake because of the breadth of the movement. *I love that this wasn't captioned because it allows the audience to feel Li Ming's confusion and Heart's frustration.
Tumblr media
We end the episode back at night with another shot of the moon. As others have pointed out, the colors at night are more crisp and vibrant compared to the day.
Tumblr media
But based on Li Ming's name, and the symbols, I think Moonlight Chicken is attempting a similar theme as Big Dragon - The Moon and the Sun have to meet at Dawn. These lovers won't work in their current situations. They have to compromise and find balance, which is why they met in the middle of the year. They have to meet in the in-between.

LMK VS Legend
Azure Lion:
Tumblr media
LMK:
He was a Lion Demon who previously served the Jade Emperor as a Celestial Warrior but subsequently defected to the Brotherhood, a group established by Monkey King with the aim of deposing the Jade Emperor and improving the world. He was able to escape the memory scroll with the help of an outside source. Went on a quest to finally defeat the Jade Emperor. With the help of his recently freed brothers Peng and Tusk, he was able to but was unable to handle the power. After the battle with MK and Wukong, it became too much and with the cosmos at stake, he had to make a choice.
He sadly died at the end of season 4 as a hero.
Tumblr media
JTTW:
Azure Lion / Lion- Lynx Demon He was the steed of the Bodhisattva Manjusri.
Tumblr media
Weapon a bronze saber. Powers / Abilities: Grow several times bigger or smaller than his normal size. He was first seen in the novel as the revel form of the imposter of the King of Wuji Kingdom. He was sent by Manjusri to punish the king after throwing a designed Manjusri into a river for three days to drown. He did this by designing himself as a Taoist to save the kingdom from drought, thus being made brother-in-arms with the king. He then tricked the king by throwing him into a well killing him. He was stopped three years later by the pilgrims he was mercyed from being killed by Wukong from Manjusri. He went back to the Celestial Realm as a steed.
Tumblr media
He was seen again in Camel Ridge this time a demon king. Ruling side by side with the Golden Winged Great Peng and the Yellow-Toothed Elephant Demon. Once again he fought Wukong after drafting the monkey and the Zhu Bajie multiple time the pilgrims seek help from the deities and is taken back by Manjusri.
In one of their fights: The Azure Lion swallows Sun Wukong, who causes trouble inside his stomach. The Lion then pretends to agree to open his mouth and let Sun Wukong out, but intends to bite him to death when he comes out. However, anticipating this, Sun Wukong sticks his staff out ahead of him instead and the demon breaks his teeth after biting on the staff. Sun Wukong later creates a long rope, ties it around the demon's heart, and plays with it after leaving the demon's stomach.
Legend:
It is said that he once showed up uninvited at a peach feast hosted by the Queen Mother of the West and wanted to fight for the rulership of Heaven. The Jade Emperor sent 100,000 celestial troops to capture the demon, who turned into a giant monster and devoured the entire army in one gulp.
Thoughts:
Azure doesn't have a lot of legends that I could find besides the one involving the peach festival which is kinda funny how similar that kinda sounded to Wukong minus the pills, wine, and peach eating. For the LMK universe with how the brotherhood was I don't think that earlier chapter with him as the designed king could have happened. But if it did it was either not Azure but another celestial, or it was but for a different reason, I don't see him helping the celestials test Wukong and the pilgrims.
Tumblr media
Hope you all enjoyed:)

Writing Share Game
Tagged by @willtheweaver , thank you!
Rules: share some writing!
Here is an excerpt from the rewrite of chapter 1 book 1 that I just finished. Its a bit long and I want to post more. For context this is in the throne room of the king of Labisa, Hutbari. Hutbari is giving an audience to a foreign diplomat from the land of Apuna, the Pabaket. However the Pabaket insisted that the men behind him should get their audience first, as they seemed to be in more dire need the he. These men are forestfolk, a group of people whose physical appearance have been warped by magic.
The so-called butter-eaters seemed most stunned of all as they were gestured towards the front. They bowed low, their leader on their knees before Hutbari. It was only as they had approached that Narul realized truly who or what the men were. It was not dirt or mud which had darkened their arms, chests, and legs, but rather thick coarse hair, not so thick as that of a beast, but far thicker than of a normal man’s, their arms were long, and the tips of their seven fingers reached nearly to their knees. They must have been forestfolk, though of a different sort than Narul. He eyed them, forestfolk were dangerous, he should know. “Oh king.” The leader of the forestfolk spoke his voice was ragged. “Oh, king of the Great Lake, King of the Black Shore. I am Ruada of the Uteshites.” Hutbari’s brow furrowed. “Which one are those? The Uteshites I mean, I have a lot of savages and barbarians crawling around in my forests.” The room filled with laughter. Narul was silent, so too he noticed, was the Pabaket. Ruada shrank at the laughter and when it had died down, he said, “We are herdsmen, we drive our flocks up the mountains in the spring and down for the falls, you have allowed us to roam the lands to your east, north of Shipra in exchange for…” Hutbari smiled “Oh! I remember now! The lambs! Uteshite lamb! Delicious, you didn’t bring any did you? I have a festival in just a few days, I could use a lamb or two.” “No, no great king…that is why we have come, we’ve been separated from our flock, we came to…” Bazus cleared his throat, his tone was stern, “And what does that have to do with us? Our exchange is a simple one, you raise our meat and make our cheese, and we allow you to live unbothered in the eastern valleys and to creep your way into our markets, it does not extend beyond that, we do not call upon you to pick our olives or to work our fields even though you buy our oil and our grain. The only reason why I approved of your audience is because I wanted to know what foolishness could have possibly possessed you to think that you creatures could stand in the throne room of Tamel. And now I find that it is just a matter of a few lost lambs. If I were king, I would flay you and tan your skins.” The forestfolks cowered, huddled close together, their heads bowed. Narul grimaced and averted his gaze from the cowering men. Hutbari laughed raucously, “Oh my son! Not even a king yet and you are already the terror of the valleys!” He shook his head and turned to the Uteshites, “Stand up straight, butter-eaters, I will not flay you, but my son is right, why should your flock be of concern to us? You are herdsmen, you should be able to control your own beasts, should you not? How could you have been separated from them? Were they stolen?” Ruada swallowed, “No, great king, it was a monster. A great boar, it drove our shepherds from the herd.” Bazus frowned, “A single boar?” “More than just a boar, a demon!” One of the other forestfolk, a young man blurted. Ruada hissed between his teeth, silencing the boy. Hutbari leaned forward, his expression sharpened, “Speak boy, tell me about this demon.” The boy looked to his leader. Ruada nodded his approval. He crawled forward on his knees and spoke, “It is as big as a house, its tusks are as long as my arms, the bristles of its back are as sharp as blades and as hard as bronze, it rips the limbs from men without effort, it fells trees with its strength, its hooves crush bones.”

Hi, Hello, I recently had the urge to make an 'OC' of a Hindu god for RoR and then thought;
Imma give you a list and explanation about Shivas children! In a sense everyone is his child, given his deity/god status, but I mean his actual kids.
The eight Children of Lord Shiva
1/ Ganesha;
Tumblr media
Ganesha, elephant-headed Hindu god of beginnings, who is traditionally worshipped before any major enterprise and is the patron of intellectuals, bankers, scribes, and authors.
His name means both “Lord of the People” (gana means the common people) and “Lord of the Ganas” (Ganesha is the chief of the ganas, the goblin hosts of Shiva). Ganesha is potbellied and generally depicted as holding in his hand a few round Indian sweets, of which he is inordinately fond.
His vahana is the large Indian bandicoot rat, which symbolizes Ganesha’s ability to overcome anything to get what he wants. Like a rat and like an elephant, Ganesha is a remover of obstacles. The 10-day late-summer (August–September) festival Ganesh Chaturthi is devoted to him.
Many different stories are told about the birth of Ganesha, including one in which Parvati makes her son out of a piece of cloth and asks her consort, Shiva, to bring him to life.
One of the best-known myths, however, begins with Parvati taking a bath and longing for someone to keep Shiva from barging in on her, as was his habit. As she bathes, she kneads the dirt that she rubs off her body into the shape of a child, who comes to life. But when Shiva sees the handsome young boy he or one of his attendants cuts off the child’s head.
When Shiva, to fix his mistake after Parvati yelled at him, cuts off an elephant’s head to bestow it on the headless Ganesha, one of the tusks is shattered, and Ganesha is depicted holding the broken-off piece in his hand. According to this version of the myth, Ganesha is the child of Parvati alone—indeed, a child born despite Shiva’s negative intervention. Yet Ganesha is traditionally regarded as the child of both Shiva and Parvati.
In some parts of India Ganesha is depicted as celibate, but in others he is said to be married to both Buddhi (“Intelligence”) and Siddhi (“Success”). Yet other traditions give him a third wife, Riddhi (“Prosperity”).
2/ Kartikeya;
Tumblr media
Kartikeya, also known as Skanda, Subrahmanya, Shanmukha and Murugan (Tamil: முருகன்), is the Hindu god of war. He is the son of Shiva and Parvati and the brother of Ganesha.
After being begged for help, Shiva decided to take action against Soorapadman's increasing conceit. He frowned and his third eye- the eye of knowledge- started releasing sparks. These were six sparks in total. Agni had the responsibility to take them to Saravana Lake. As he was carrying them, the sparks were growing hotter and hotter that even the Lord of Fire could not withstand the heat.
Soon after Murugan was born on a lotus in the Saravana Lake with six faces, giving him the name Arumukhan. Lord Shiva and Parvati visited and tears of joy started flowing as they witnessed the most handsome child. Shiva and Parvathi gave the responsibility of taking care of Muruga to the six Krittika sisters.
Muruga grew up to be a handsome, intelligent, powerful, clever youth. All the Devas applauded at their saviour, who had finally come to release them from their woes. Murugan became the supreme general of the demi-gods, then escorted the devas and led the army of the devas to victory against the asuras.
3/ Ashok Sundari;
Tumblr media
Ashok is not the goddess of anything per say and was simply created to cure Parvatis loneliness.
The birth of Ashokasundari is recorded in the Padma Purana. In one of the variants about tale of Nahusha, Parvati once requested Shiva to take her to the most beautiful garden in the world.
As per her wishes, Shiva took her to Nandanvana, where Parvati saw a tree known as Kalpavriksha. Parvati asked for a daughter from the wish fulfilling tree to get rid of her loneliness. Her wish was granted and Ashokasundari was born.
4/ Ayyappan;
Tumblr media
Ayyappan, also known as Dharmasastha and Manikandan, is the Hindu deity of truth and righteousness. His worship is more prevalant in South India. Although devotion to Ayyappan has been prevalent earlier, his popularity rose in the late 20th century. According to Hindu theology, he is the son of Vishnu in the form of Mohini and Shiva thus representing a bridge between Shaivism and Vaishnavism.
As Mahishasura was blessed with invulnerability to all men, the gods had sent goddess Durga, to fight and kill him. Thus, Mahishi began performing a fearsome set of austerities, and pleased the creator god Brahma. She asked for the boon of invulnerability, but Brahma said it was not possible so Mahishi planned and asked invulnerability to all men except by the son of Shiva and Vishnu (Both are male & no possibility to give birth to any one).
He granted her the boon of ruling the universe and being invulnerable except by the son of Shiva and Vishnu. Since such a person did not exist, she thought she was safe and began conquering and plundering the world. The gods implored Shiva and Vishnu to save them from this catastrophe. Vishnu found a possible solution to the problem.
When Vishnu had taken on the Kurma Avatar, he also had to manifest himself as Mohini, the enchantress, to save the nectar of immortality (ambrosia or amrit) from the demons who were not willing to share it with the gods. If he became Mohini again, then the female Mohini and the male Shiva could have the divine child who would combine their powers and beat Mahishi. Some versions give a slightly more detailed version of the union of Shiva with Vishnu.(One of them stating that Shiva simply asked to see Vishnus avatar and was immediately run over by passion once he did.)
5/ Andhaka;
Tumblr media
He isn't considered a god per say but seen as the Lord of all Asuras, demons.
While in the mount Mandhar, a baby was born to Parvati and Shiva. Shiva was in a meditating posture and Parvati closed his eyes mischievously from behind. The boy appeared out of Parvati and Shiva’s sweat. Shiva explains to Parvati that since his eyes were closed, the baby was born blind and was called Andhaka (the dark/blind). Since he posed devilish qualities he was called Andhakasur (the blind demon). Hiranyaksh, a troublesome demon did intense penance to please Lord Shiva. Hiranyaksh wanted a son who posses immense powers to rule the world.
Shiva refused to grant such a boon. Instead he offered Andhaka to Hiranyaksh saying that Andhaka posses all the qualities he was looking for, and to treat him as his son. Andhaka wanted more power and did intense penance to please Lord Brahma. Among many things, the boons he asked for included extraordinary vision and immortality. Everything was granted except the immortality. Instead, Lord Brahma asked him to choose when he could die. Andhakasur asked for a boon that he would die only when he aspires for a woman who he should never aspire for. With time Andhakasur turned more materialistic and less interested in austerities.
By this time he has already conquered the world and the heaven. On a pleasure trip he along with his companions lands up in Mount Mandhar where Lord Shiva and Parvati lives. His companions tells of a sage and his beautiful wife. Andhaka sends his companions to bring her along. Shiva explains to them that they are Andhaka’s parents. The companions mistook it for a ploy and compels Andhaka for a fight. Shiva and Parvati will soon play a horrible role in the battlefield in many different forms.
The next morning, Shiva and Parvati's army reached the battlefield with Andhaka's army also vice-versa. Andhaka wants Parvati to be his. Shiva assigns his demon-warrior form Veerbhadra to kill half of Andhaka's army. Veerbhadra managed to kill half of Andhaka's army, but did not manage to kill Andhaka. When Andhaka was bleeding from his hands, arms, legs feet or hands, a new clone of Andhaka appears, Veerbhadra tries again, but failed, Parvati gets outraged to see Andhaka and his clones, so does Lord Shiva, Parvati calls upon the eight Mother Goddesses from her, namely as Brahmani, Vaishnavi, Maheshwari, Kaumari, Indrani, Varahi, Narasinghi and Chamundai to help Veerbhadra in the battlefield.
The eight Mother Goddessses killed the rest Andhaka's army, then they came together, all lined up in the skies watched the battle. Parvati took the form of Goddess Bhadrakali to help Veerbhadra. He slashed Andhaka's clones while Bhadrakali collected their blood and drank it, she also slashed Andhaka's clones too. After Andhaka was defeated, he pleads forgiveness from Lord Shiva and Parvati.
After Veerbhadra went back into Lord Shiva's body, so did the eight Mother Goddesses after Bhadrakali returned as Parvati, they went back into her body as well. Andhaka was defeated, he pleads forgiveness from Lord Shiva and Parvati. He was forgiven and became one of the men of Shiva.
Some stories do say; Andhaka conceived an unnatural lust for his mother, Parvati, which accounts for Shiva's ferocious antagonism against him. Andhaka is usually shown either impaled on Shiva's trident, or in skeletal form as Bhringi after submitting to Shiva, who drained his blood during the conflict.
6/ Manasa;
Tumblr media
Manasa (Sanskrit: मनसा, romanized: Manasā) is a Hindu goddess of snakes.
Also known as 'Nagini,' the female serpentine avatar or 'Vishahara,' the goddess who annihilates poison, Manasa, in the Hindu mythology, is believed to be the daughter of sage Kasyapa and Kadru, the sister of the serpent-king Sesha. She is the sister of Vasuki, king of Nagas and wife of sage Jagatkaru.
A simplified version of the myth regards Manasa as the daughter of Lord Shiva. Legends have it that she was rejected by her father Shiva and husband Jagatkaru, and hated by her stepmother, Chandi, who scooped out one of Manasa's eyes. So, she appears to be foul-tempered, and benevolent only towards her devotees.
7/ Jyoti;
Tumblr media
Jyoti, or the Hindu goddess of light and the "Vel," is revered by Hindus. As the goddess of "vel," she is closely linked to her brother, Lord Murugan, the son of Shiva and Parvati.
Jyoti is assumed to have been conceived by Shiva and Parvati as there aren't many myths around her birth. The one known is that she along with her family represent the five elements.
8/ Jalandhar;
Tumblr media
Genuinely the only picture i found-
Jalandhara was the king of the asuras. Jalandhar was an able ruler and under his leadership the asuras defeated the devas. He himself isn't an asuras.
In the Shiva temple, when Indra and Brihaspati were going towards Mount Kailasha to meet Shiva, their way was blocked by a naked yogi with matted hair and a radiant face. The yogi was Shiva himself, who had taken the form to test the knowledge of Indra and Brihaspati.
Indra did not recognize the yogi and was infuriated at the fact that the man was not moving out of their way. Indra asked him to move, but the man did not budge. After not receiving a response, Indra became enraged and threatened him with his thunderbolt. Upon this action Indra's arm, became paralysed and Shiva neutralised the thunderbolt.
Shiva became angry upon this action of Indra and his eyes turned red, frightening Indra. The anger caused his third eye to open, nearly killing Indra. Brihaspati recognised Shiva and prayed to him, requesting him to pardon Indra.
To avoid killing Indra, Shiva sent the fire from his eye towards the ocean and upon meeting with the ocean it assumed the form of a boy. The boy cried terribly, which caused Brahma to descend from his abode. The ocean told Brahma that he did not know where the boy came from.
Brahma then told him that the boy would one day become the emperor of the asuras, that he could only be killed by Shiva, and that after his death, he would return to third eye. Which will happen eventually... one day.
Tumblr media
And that's all I know and found out about them♡

Disney Villain Bracket
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
basically how this works is we have brackets a, b, and c. c is a tricky one, hopefully ill explain right
it’s basically a bracket and a half, and the villains in the half bracket will go across and meet in the middle, and the winner of that goes against the two villains on the bracket above
once we get to the middle two in a and b and have that vote, and once the double elimination in bracket c happens, the three villains will all go head to head… to head. it’ll be the three winners of each bracket in one final poll
am i explaining correctly? oh well, y’all will see what i mean when we get there
im sure a lot of y’all have opinions on how this was put together but keep in mind ive never done this before and i did my best. so
