the vampire armand really is such a good book — and occasionally hilarious on top of that; it's remarkable how it depicts armand's religious struggles and paints such a compelling portrait

anyway, two quotes two pages apart which encapsulate the humour, the lestat petty (and tragic) obsession, the existential despair, the raw drive to tell one's own story, and on top of that, beautiful writing

Honestly have we considered if the "deal you a blow" comment from Marius to Armand is why Armand opened his heart to him again? Armand like 👀 oh so that kind of thing is still on the table?

I just had a random epiphany that if the vampire chronicles vampires were to hypothetically own phones and text each other in the modern age Armand would text exclusively in emojis and gifs. It’d be like the digital equivalent of when he first appeared in tvl and communicated by putting images into Lestat’s brain instead of speaking out loud. Armand would get so hyped over the opportunity to use this library of images to express himself, it’s so ideal for him. Im just picturing a vampire group chat where all of the interactions are just:

Marius: Lestat did you fail to dispose of the kill again? They’re speaking of a vampire killing on the television.

Lestat: No it was armand

Armand: 😡🙅🫵🍴🚫🧠🙄, 🧑🏻‍🦰👨‍👧‍👦👩🏼🧑🏾🚫🩸

(Translation: that’s obviously not true. You kill without thinking often. Besides, I was with Sybelle and Benji all night, I haven’t hunted.)
