So sharp-eyed readers will note that Twilight Gods has had a... minor makeover.
In short, I've been debating for a while splitting it up into a trilogy. There's a very natural set of break points in the story, and the dynamics radically change at each break point, so...
That means we're not not super far off the end of part one, now named Warriors of Dusk.
I can reveal that the title of part two will be (barring a better idea coming along) Heirs of Night.

What we call "ponies" are actually 3 different species that have managed to intertwine with each other through centuries of love and friendship.
Earth ponies are unique in their strength and solid, powerful hooves built for running and moving heavy objects. Ancient ponies only displayed earth tones in their fur and hair, but even one pegasus ancestor many generations ago can imbue colorful hues to all their descendents.
Pegasus are completely covered in feathers, with long feathers forming crests much like horses' mane and tails. They are usually the smallest species, but some exceptions do appear. Hooves are usually small and cloven, with prehensile dewclaws for gripping branches and perching in trees.
Unicorns are much closer to deer than horses, and their horns are actually a set of two antlers that wind around each other from a single base. The coiled structure pulls magic from the world around them and concentrates it at the tip, allowing the unicorn to cast whatever spells it wishes, while the other species can only use magic for flight and affecting the environment.
That is, until new alicorns began to ascend and through their power, grant magical properties to intangible concepts like friendship and love
Alicorns are mysterious, ethereal giants who fill the entire sky as they pass by. They are not a mix of unicorns, pegasus, and earth ponies, but a creature beyond any of the species; an ascended form that could supposedly happen to anyone... But but that's just an old foals' tale. Right?

random userbase data time
(listed almost every/every game as one option in case you skipped out on some of the multiplayer ones)
please reblog after you vote for Maximum Data, even if you voted no! if you voted for one of the other options, tag your favorite game(s)!
I am just very interested in the presence of the zelda fanbase :>
please note that, for the sake of this poll, remakes count as one game. so like, if you've played the original ocarina of time and master quest and the 3ds version, that counts as one game.

You know, when I resolved to start posting Twilight Gods, I wasn't anticipating all that much work. A few edits, a couple of new scenes, nothing major - especially towards the end, that had a lot of material that I was most excited to share.
But that's not how it's turned out. New characters, new subplots, and now the entire climax and core conflict is being changed and stakes raised (and they weren't low to begin with!).
I think this monster had been occupying my brain rent-free for so long that it got put on something of a pedestal. Now that I'm actually working on it, writer-brain has taken over and is determined to make it better.
The original text came to around 250k words and an estimated 50 chapters. Now I honestly have no idea, and it's going to take rather longer to all post up.
But I'm honestly really happy. Having just come out of writing a silly fluff section of Jaina teasing Anya, a character who wasn't even in the original text... I'm excited about writing in a way that I haven't been for a long time. I was a prolific writer in my teenage and university years, but... my 20s were a shit time for writing. Life was far too unstable and my creativity ended up going elsewhere, such as it was.
But this mutant behemoth of a project is reawakening the old instincts and love of it, and you, my dear readers, are no small part of that.
So thank you to everyone who comments, drops a kudos... or even just reads and gets a happy glow. You're all wonderful, and the last couple of months of getting this out in the open have been some of the best I've had in a while.
Love you all.

the transition from hal to kyle's section of gl1990 is objectively very funny because the launchpad just hal's pure, undiluted misery. everyone is dead. i spent my entire life trying to become someone my father would have loved and not only do i resent the person i became i know in my heart of hearts that fighting for a morsel of the late martin jordan's affection has always been an exercise in futility. in desperation. i have been so naive about the institutions i dedicated myself to. i gave everything to the corps i gave my loyalty my fealty my life and once again i am left with nothing. i can't do this anymore. the "man with no fear" is scared to death. this world is unsalvageable-- i'll make it right.
kyle rayner gets thrown through the window into a lingerie store. narration box: HI! my name is KYLE RAYNER. and i don't know what i'm doing. 👍👍👍💯💯💯
