Y'all I have a lovely coworker who has become a friend and I love talking to her and working with her and she's extremely religious (which I have nothing wrong with!) while I have told her that I'm not religious and she respected that. We were just texting and I suddenly got this

I get it if you feel this way, which is completely fine I don't care what religion you follow or to what degree, you do you and live your life, but this just rattled me I'm not even kidding.

i feel like there is so much to be said about drizzt do’urden’s religious views and how he’s a stand-in for culturally christian atheists. he grew up in a corrupt religious society and has religious trauma, so as a result he views all religion as bad. at first it seems like he’s going to have a “pagan finds jesus” story but he eventually rejects mielikki too, and imo, it always felt out of character that he followed her in the first place so i wasn’t surprised when he changed his mind. he was looking for a name to label his preexisting system of ideals, which feels very much like christians who claim “all that matters is that you live by the bible and live in a godly manner”. many religions are about teachings and traditions as much as they are about “just being a good person and following god’s vibes” (which i feel like is INCREDIBLY standard in american protestantism)

i think a lot of it comes down to the fact that the forgotten realms (and a lot of fantasy tbh) treats the gods as just Very Powerful People instead of the forces of nature personified (and again this is to be expected from a christian culture, where jesus was Just A Guy)

re this post. ive deleted my archangelnun gender, but i think thats all the genders i have related to nuns/priests or sacred religious practices? (im not sure if saintancient counts but if it does just shoot me an ask!!)

on that note, i will not be taking down my angelgenders nor will i stop making them. i will be careful not to include certain sacred practices in my genders and if i do please tell me, but the disconnect from angels to religion has been happening far longer than the mogai community has been established (see: fantasy media for a plain example) not to mention the countless amounts of fiction and art that use angels in a non-religious or even metaphorical context. you can argue wether this is wrong or right, but because of this a lot of people get their distinct connection to angels from these medias and how the general public perceives angels has shifted. this applies to more things in modern day than anyone thinks.

alongside people having an insanely personal and complex relationship with religion which is . too much to get into in one post ..

the whole point of this post was to say that my entire blog is angel-themed, and i will continue to make angelgenders because of my personal relationship with “angels” as we know them. but!! i also want my blog to be a safe space for anyone with a connection to these creatures, be it religious or not. if my content is ever making anyone uncomfortable, please tell me and i will edit or delete the post as to not cause anyone discomfort. sorry for the long post, ty for reading through this if you did!

atheists circle jerking to their own voices while talking about abolishing “religion” because of their own religious trauma inflicted by (1) religion will really turn around and say they’ve “never met” an atheist that supported forced conversions. someone get these freaks a brain cell and some therapy because to “rid the world of religion” requires forcing people OUT of those religions, ie forced conversions to atheism and other ideologies atheists deem appropriate. there’s no explanation or moral grandstanding that’s going to change that. if you advocate for a world without religion, you’re advocating for the genocide of thousands of indigenous peoples who refuse to give up their culture. die about it, i guess.

Why would we ever avoid HIS easy yoke? Why wouldn't we ask HIM in to show us the way?

We clearly don't have life/truth/way to GOD, unless we accept JESUS, & life/death begins forever after we're ejected from earth.

Hey, so, listen.

As an ex-christian, now-agnostic: Do Not run around throwing your religion at people unprompted.

I 100% understand and respect that this is a touchy subject. I was once the same type who was afraid that everyone around me was going to hell and it was MY JOB to try and save them.

Listen. As someone who's seen both sides now, I only have this to say:

People's religion or lacktherof is

Their Business.

And ONLY their business. Leave them alone. I don't care if you think you're helping. A lot of people have really bad religious trauma, and this sort of thing can make them extremely upset or uncomfortable. On top of that, just like a telemarketer or a door-to-door salesman, randomly showing up to someone's 'internet door' and trying to shove your beliefs down their throat will Never. Work. It will never change someone's mind. It will ONLY make them block or avoid you.

You wouldn't want someone to come into your inbox and shove 'your religion is fake and you're brainwashed' down your throat unprompted, would you? Wouldn't someone shoving their beliefs in your face be uncomfy? Yeah.
