There're two early Locklyle moments from the show which I love, both from Episode 2 -

When George is sitting with Lockwood and trying to convince him to fire Lucy because of her weird behaviour. It's clear from the outset that Lockwood is unconvinced (and there's something special about the way he says "she's not unhinged" agh!). At the end of the scene;

George: she burned down a house, she's going mad, you need to fire her Lockwood.

What Lockwood says -

Lockwood: let me sleep on it

What Lockwood means -

"let me change the subject so we can stop talking about something that's definitely not going to happen"

And then shortly after that conversation, Barnes calls;

Lockwood: Lockwood & Co, how may I help you?

Barnes: by firing Lucy Carlyle, immediately

Lockwood: And why would I do that Inspector?

Barnes: [insists]

Lockwood: [deflects]

Barnes: [insists]

Lockwood: [deflects]

Until...

Barnes: get rid of her Mr. Lockwood (hangs up)

I love that within less than 24 hours, two different people have insisted and given valid reasons for Lockwood to consider firing Lucy, even after she woke him up in the middle of the night because she herself had carelessly unleashed a type two ghost IN HIS HOME, it's clear from all of his body language and responses that he has no intention, zero, none whatsoever, of even thinking about it! Even when Barnes tries to back him into a corner, Lockwood is just buying time to come up with a plan out of it. He values her too much at this point and has already decided resolutely that she belongs at his agency.

I just think that's neat...

Gyutaro:

Words of affirmation

Gyutaro has a lot of insecurities and like hell he will let you have them if he can do something about it. If he feels you are good at something, that you look good in a certein way or you just need some validation of some type, he will say it laud and clear. He is not shy to compliment you and day what he thinks, and he is detailed, not letting you misunderstand a thing. (He has experience with Daki, he is very good communicating if he puts his mind into it.)

On the other hand, he is bad at the recieving end of this love language, he becomes very anxious whenever you try to conpliment ot validate him verbally (he's really not used to it, so he becomes paranoid, thinking you are lying or doing it out of pity). He prefers if you communicate with quality time. For him the fact that you are willing to take your time and do something fun with him is enough. He loves being around you, and keeping his mind bussy is the best way to evade the bitter thoughts.

Gyokko:

Words of affirmation

Gyokko is bad giving compliments, it usually hurts his pride to give in and admit anyone did something deserving a praise from him, but when he does, it's genuine. He compliments you a lot, actually, because he thinks you are impressive (he would not be interested in you if he didn't). Everytime you do something or look in a way that attracts him, he mentions it, and he is detailed with it. As an artist he is good to describe what he likes.

He still prefers to be at the recieving end of the compliments and words of affirmation, he loves it when you recognize and value him and his art. A verbally loved Gyokko is a happy Gyokko. He will brag and give you hints for you to say the things he wants go hear, and he will get offended if you miss them or say something wrong. You better not be of those who just says "nice babe" when your partner is showing you somerhing, or you're done.

Sekido:

Acts of service

He is bad talking about feelings that is not his anger, but he is always around to help you around. He is good with the chores and brings you stability and order into your life. He likes things well done and tidy, there are times he even takes your work off your plate so you can relax, and while he expects you to notice what he does for you, you don't even have to thank him for him to be content.

He also likes you to do acts of service for him, he gets annoyed, angry and frustrated rather easily, so he really appreciates when you help him to deal with some issue or even take care of the rest of the clones by yourself. He is bad expressing that he is grateful, but the fact that you make it easier is visible.

Karaku:

Physical touch

Karaku loves physical touch, he will forever grab, hold, hug, kiss, tug, lick, suck.... If he can get his hands and mouth over you, he will. He always wants to be the center of your attention, so him throwing himself at you with a "Hey babe~" is a must, it doesn't help that he knows how to use his hands and mouth, he never misses and you always end up wanting more, just as he does. To know how to tell apart from when he just likes you to him fallen for you, well, in the first one he isn't as needy. He will have you always at arm's reach and complain when you are any farther away.

And recieve touch for him is also a must, the same way as he is all over you he expects you to have your hands full of him, and you won't have him complaining if you want to put your mouth on him. (He doesn't care if there is public, you can do whatever you want to him and only meet eagerness). 100% on Physical touch. (But he will also accept gifts gladly.)

Urogi:

Physical touch

Urogi is needy by nature, also always manages to spoil himself, if that makes sense at all. If he likes something, he takes it, no questions nor hesitation, just grab and fly before they take it away from him (like a dog who just stole a steak and runs to the yard to prevent their owner to take it back). This includes people, specially you, he sees you and takes you in his arms and feet, and is not afraid to just lie or sit over you wherever he can.

He also loves being touched, specially in his wings and head. Cuddles and kisses get him all chummy and happy, and he will not be separating anytime soon. He will whine at best, make a tantrum at worst, the second you pull apart. He lives for physical touch (but technically he also takes a lot of gifts, since to him everything on sight that he likes are for him to take).

Aizetsu:

Words of affirmation

Aizetsu is very shy, and he doesn't like to feel he is imposing himself to you, so he deems voicing his thoughts and feelings as the safest way to express you how he loves you. Most of the time he doesn't know how to approach or timing, but he is honest. He always makes sure for you to know what is actually going through his head and heart using simple words, at times way to simple to fully explain himself, but you understand his intentions.

On the other hand, Aizetsu prefers when you express yourself with physical touch. He likes to be hugged, specially, gives him a sense of relief and warmth that he wishes could feel more often, it's very comforting for him to have you holding him, kissing him, cuddling with him. He pouts everytime you pull apart if he was too comfortable.

Hantengu:

Giving gifts

Hantengu likes to steal a lot, but he is not above sharing the parts he managed. He also likes the fact that he can express anonymously what he feels so he can evade anything uncomfortable and nasty. He makes sure to get things that might be useful or he knows you will like, but unless he puts a letter in the present you might never know it was from him. Still, seeing you liking and using what he gave you makes him happy enough.

He likes people to cover him, to hold him safe and sound, and so physical touch is the love language he likes to recieve the most. He likes to be comforted, feel the preasure of a body giving him a space where he can be less afraid of everything. But also, he likes it from specific people and not for too long periods of time since he gets too paranoid.

Nakime:

Quality time

Nakime likes to spend time with you, usually she plays and sings to entertain you, hoping nothing more than to have some minutes for you both. There is a limited amount of activities she enjoys, but she is willing to step out of her comfort zone once in a while, but most of the time she would join you with readings, arts, crafts, board games and so.

Nakime also appreciates that you make your way to include her into your rutine the same way she does with you. Actions speak lauder than words, she doesn't like touching as much (and with her castle there is little act of service one can do) so she would expect you to give her quality time. The thing is, she also likes recieving gifts a lot, she loves feeling wealthy, so if you manage to get her expensive and pretty things, beside giving her things that applies to her hobbies, is the straighest path to her heart.

Akaza:

Acts of service

Akaza loves being able to help and take care of you, he lives to take care of you. Chores, nursing, protecting you, giving you time and space to rest are things that keep him relaxed, he feels safe when you are safe, happy and around. It's hard to not notice he is good at it, too, that with him around things are just easier. Just be careful with him taking too many things off your plate, Akaza would take all your responsibilities and burdens off your shoulders if he could.

And Akaza would loath if you worked or took any effort for his comfort, what he likes from you are words of affirmation. He needs you to tell him he is doing a good job, that you feel better with him around, that you can see him in a future together. And it has to be verbally, he can't calm down if it's not, because part of him doesn't trust that he is being good enough, strong enough. (Really, make sure to tell him that you are both good and that nothing bad will happen to you, he really gets too scared for you and only wants you to be healthy, comfortable and safe.)

Douma:

Giving Gifts

This is an interesting one, because Douma is also very touchy, compliments you a lot and seaks for quality time, but to be honest that is mostly fake affection. Affection he has seen others share but has never managed to feel it himself. What he has felt is the satisfaction of getting something he likes, something that feels was just made for him to like. If he gives you a gift he know you will adore, no matter the price or the different types of values that the present may have, the fact that he made sure to remember and think of something for you to like it's because he genuinely cares.

And while recieving gifts it's the only love language he actually understands, Douma prefers when you to spend quality time with him. He is very bussy with his duties inside the cult, so he can't go outside as much as he would want nor do as many activities as he would like. Douma deems it's very nice when you go and give him some company, to help his boredom, to give him the attention he is used to recieve but actually make it about him instead of making it about gods or yourself. You would be the first one.

Kokushibou:

Quality time

Kokushibou is not a romantic person, he is too traditional for that, if he gives you a gift it's because it's obligatory to the courtship, if he compliments you it's because it's basic etiquette, if he helps you it's because he deemed as necesary... it all changes with quality time. Nothing forces him to actually spend a good time with you, to have fun, to do something one of you or both of you like, much less step out of his comfort zone if it's something only you like. If he does it, it's because he wants to, because he cares, because he wants you to feel good around him.

And it would be good if you remembered that Kokushibou is still insecure behind all his intimidating demeanor, he still fears falling behind expectations as his mind easily takes him to darker places. He needs words of affirmation, someone to remind him that he is doing good and validate his feelings, feelings he is not willing tl talk about. It has to be clear and simple for it to stick in his head, and it's going to be hell if you let any misunderstanding happen. Don't. Let. It. Happen.

Part 3: How to write an MLE-based London accent authentically

As I conclude this little guide, I'd like mention that my ask box and DMs are always open if anyone has further questions or anything 🤎

In this section, I'll go over some advice, the grammar and vocabulary and provide some suggestions for references.

Section A: Basic Tips

When to use slang

The concentration of slang is key to differentiating characters as well as writing an accent authentically. As an MLE-based speaker who is not actually a roadman (meaning a gangster, though many people misuse the term to refer to anyone who uses MLE, especially if they are working class), like most of us, Hobie does not utterly kill it with slang that would likely not be understandable to the people he’s with. There are a lot of phrases and idioms/metaphors that seem self-explanatory once you know what they mean or that seem similar to Americanisms (e.g. roadman = street/hood nigga), but of course, as someone who doesn’t use the terms, hearing it in passing, it probably wouldn’t be understandable, despite the speaker thinking it is. 

Coming from a diverse place, often with immigrant parents who don’t even speak English as a first language, if fluently at all (not in the case of most black Caribbeans from former British colonies, but remember Asians and Africans are more plentiful here), trust me, we know what we sound like 😂! Most of us code-switch, as we learn standard English in school and, until more recently, where more people are 3rd gen+ immigrants as opposed to 2nd, we actually tend to pick up MLE slang from experiences outside the home as we grow up. At the same time, some people really don’t care at all and don’t change how they speak for anyone haha. I don’t recommend trying to write code-switching if you’re not extremely familiar with MLE because you’ll probably lose the flow and also, Hobie only eases up a little bit after his intro.

My point is though, that not every single sentence needs to have slang in it. Most should, but if you’re trying to be serious or sexy, for example, and you feel the need to tack on some slang just to convey Bri’ishness, even if it doesn’t really fit, don’t do it cause it’s no more authentic than just writing plain English in those scenarios.

When talking to people from his own dimension, however, slang it up if you’d like, because the expectation would be that a (working class or ethnic) Londoner would understand him. 

For humour, mocking and teasing, we love to use slang because a lot of it is funny, even to us. Like I said, we know what we sound like. Those are the moments when more obscure slang (such as Cockney rhyming slang) might come out for comedic effect.

It’s good to have some balance, so not every word needs to be substituted. If you couldn’t read it without a fucking huge glossary, you’ve probably done a bit too much.

Writing the Accent

It’s good in moderation. ‘Luv’, ‘ain’t’, replacing the last g with an apostrophe in -ing words - you all have those things down, it works, good job. 

HOWEVER, it is very clear that a lot of you have no clue what letters we do and don’t drop/change and in what words, as well as a lot of you going OT with removing the T’s from the middle of words. I know it kind of sounds like that to you but it reads like an over-exaggeration or mockery, particularly because most London accents, including Hobie’s, are much lighter in comparison to Brits from other areas, in which such omissions and alterations of letters would be somewhat appropriate but still, in moderation. I don’t recommend typing out the accent often, just sprinkle it around for a bit of flavour but don’t consistently write in that way because your writing loses legibility and it gets quite distracting.

Content

The stereotype of British people liking sarcasm is true for most and, in general, we like to have, what we call, ‘a bit of banter’. We’re a jokey people, even if those jokes can be a bit harsh or teasing. Confusingly, even if we are joking around, it doesn’t mean necessarily we’re being friendly, joking is just how we communicate (e.g. “Oh boy, humbling reality Spider-Man has arrived”, “What does that do?” “Apart from having a great name?”, “super humane and not creepy”, “this is a great look…”). I think most people have got this down really well, so keep it up guys 😎🤙

Another thing is cussing, swearing, profanity, whatever you wanna call it. We do it a lot for no reason, mainly spamming the word “fuck(ing)”. So have fun with that if you aren’t already.

We’ll get into it more in the terms of endearment section of Section B but, basically a lot of Londoners are typically not too mushy or affectionate, as is the stereotype for big city people and, additionally, British people in general aren’t the most direct in their words. Obviously, some people are but it’s not the culture if you’re trying to write proper ‘authentic’ haha. For a lot of us, saying sweet stuff can be quite laborious when sincere or cheesy or confrontational levels of direct really 😂 We ain’t the friendliest of types through our words so I'd recommend relying more on context for the sweet factor unless it's a stand-out moment.

Different parts of the UK, even within England itself, have different slang

Idk what else to say about this but yeah, there’s some phrases I’ve seen people use that have me scratching my head cause “nobody [from my area] says those words in that order” but I’m guessing it’s down to people incorporating slang which is more commonly heard up North because it’s all classed as British/U.K. slang when you look it up so, just be wary of that.

Section B: Grammar and Vocab (the thing you’ve been waiting for 😂)

I’ll link a document here so I don’t clog up your dash more than I already have. Feel free to bookmark it or anything, I’ll update it if needed. The contents are links to the relevant section so you can just click those if you’re not trying to read the whole thing.

I only included some highlights of the things that are easy enough to explain just by writing them out with their meanings but it’s by no means an extensive list. I’ve studied a few languages but I’m not a linguist so I just did my best.

If you want to go more heavy with the Cockney slang, I’ll leave it to someone who’s more familiar with it (or not… lol) to explain those terms and when to use them properly.

Of course, it’s all good and all that I’ve given you instructions but to make it sound natural, you’d need a point of reference. Here are some references of black North West Londoners from the early 80s, black East Londoners, black Londoners more generally and a Daniel Kaluuya interview so you can get a better feel of how we sound:

The accents within this one group of siblings is very varied and none of them use MLE, as per the time period. The two younger sisters have accents most similar to Hobie’s. The show follows a group of siblings of Jamaican descent living in a council house in North West London, first released in 1983.

The show takes place in Tower Hamlets, which is in East London and was first released in 2015. Tracy has a similar accent to Hobie and also uses a mix of more general/Cockney-influenced slang and MLE, so this one should both be a fun watch and be useful, you’ll also want to pay attention to Candice who has a more MLE lean to her speech.

Another show that takes place in East London, this time in Hackney, which is an area known for being kind of rough in terms of gang activity. Almost all the characters speak exclusively MLE in this show. If you want to watch it, TW for violence and gang activity, death, etc. (18+). You can tell based on the ones I’ve chosen that Sully’s my favourite character lmao.

Fun fact, as you might hear the character, Dushane, reference, Sully lives on a canal boat for a while as a form of refuge. I know a bit about boat dwellers in London from a lecture at uni but if anyone wants me to do more research and do a post and explain the waterways and stuff, again, feel free to drop an ask and I’ll do it :)

Just to throw in a couple points real quick (because I can never keep an opinion to myself 😔 sorry), I personally kind of dislike the idea of a male and female gaze — not because I disagree with the concept of fetishism and objectification existing, they ABSOLUTELY do, but because of what people, particularly online, have come to accept they mean.

There has recently been discourse surrounding Love Lies Bleeding, a film created almost solely by queer women, “catering to the male gaze” which… I’m sure I don’t need to explain how silly that is lmao. I think this new wave of leftists clutching their pearls over literally any sign of sexual attraction and considering it to be synonymous with objectification has distorted people’s views of what these terms actually mean and have resulted in their gross misuse. Not to make this about me 💅🏻 but I see a lot of this similar discourse about trans people BY CIS PEOPLE whom are trying to be good allies by basically claiming that any sign of sexual attraction towards a trans person’s body is inherently fetishistic which I can’t lie… I kind of consider to be transphobic itself lol? You’re allowed to be sexually attracted to trans people and express that, no matter how their bodies look! The point at which it becomes fetishistic relies primarily on the WAY you express that and the language used — and I think that can apply to queer people in general too. I personally (and others may feel differently!) have zero issue with cis people enjoying trans NSFW content, and I also have no problem with straight women enjoying MLM content; because most of the time, I can tell from the LANGUAGE they use whether or not they are fetishising.

Point being, fetishism and objectification can go ALL ways and I don’t think people need to give excuses as to why they enjoy a certain type of content as long as it isn’t actively harming anyone. But I obviously can’t speak for everyone (especially queer women, I only identified as one for a year or two when I was a preteen lol) and people’s experiences tend to shape their opinions on these things 😅

Right and that's why I firmly stand behind my initial post about how it's no one's job to police people for what kind of content they consume! Because we don't know their motivations for how ot why they personally are interacting/consuming the work. It's incredibly easy to write off all enjoyment of a specific brand of content as fetishizing or sexualization when in reality, for the consumer it isn't that at all. My only point on the last ask was that sometimes, sometimes, it's easy to actually be doing exactly that (fetishizing etc) and not realizing it.

Intentions matter absolutely, but they're not the be-all-end-all of reality. It's like if I as a white person were to say something racist without realizing it was racist. That doesn't negate the racism, and it doesn't absolve me of my culpability, because my ignorance to my actions doesn't supercede my impact. You can be guilty of something without knowing that you are, and that's something you as person have to evaluate and confront on a personal basis. That was my only point in relation to what that anon said.

Again to reiterate, that is NOT saying that everyone who prefers queer work to straight work is guilty of that, because they're not. Full stop. And that alone is why I don't think anyone has or should have the authority to pass judgment on who can and can't consume certain kinds of media. Because, like you said, then you start wading into the murky waters of painting everyone with a broad brush, throwing accusations around that are universally damning despite not actually being universally true. And considering we're living in a period where puritan anti-sex brainrot is on the rise (alongside a deeply unsettling culture of condemnation over every little thing), opening that door can become very dangerous very fast. We're seeing it already.

I will tack on just as a thought regarding the trans character issue, I think that's kind of a perfect example of all these ideas aligning. Just in the most bare bones way of putting it: there is nothing inherently fetishizing about a cis person enjoying work including trans characters. There's nothing inherently fetishizing about a cis person enjoying, specifically, smut involving trans characters. There is nothing inherently fetishizing about a cis person preferring trans character stories over other kinds of media. However, if all they as a cis person consume is extremely sexualized renditions of trans characters, if their only interest in trans characters is porn - generally mostly devoid of complex storylines that create a fully rounded character -, then yeah I do think that's something they on an individual basis need to evaluate about themselves, because it's the difference between having a sexual attraction to a subsection of people versus seeing those same people as purely sexual objects. Does that make sense?

Same can be true for any other queer content being consumed by people that aren't historically the target audience.

But again, it's not really anyone else's place to make that call for anyone else.

I LOVE coming across that type of comments because they're so completely uninformed and yet so confidant they just end up being straight up baffling.

A vastly different version "from the one we have now" you say? Okay??? Which "one"??? Which 18th century translation are you talking about, and in what language? Because the Bible has been translated in full into an estimated 736 different languages, and there are well over a hundred translations just in English. Like, dude. What is that "version that we have now" and what donkey's ass did you pull that 18th century date from?

The most widely known English Bible is still the King James (from the 17th century) and I'm almost certain that's the one they're referring to, but that's still hilarious for a billion reasons - like the fact that we translate the NT from the original Greek and Aramaic nowadays, not from the Vulgate (Latin) or other English versions, and that the source texts we translate are AT MOST one century removed from the original copies, and that even a cursory look into older translation vs newer ones will tell you nothing about the differences between them qualifies as "vast." Meaning that the Bible we have today is the same as the one from around 300 AD. And that's without getting into their conflation of the NT and OT, because the claim that the OT has been changed since 300 AD is even more ludicrous (see the Dead Sea Scrolls).

Kunikida x gn!Reader Headcanons

A/N: so me and my girlfriend broke up recently and I’ve been super down and in desperate need of some fluff to feel better. So whilst I catch back up on finishing requests, have some wholesome Kunikida headcanons - he’d make the best boyfriend. I’m very sorry for being slow, just life hiccups, thank you for your patience! N E ways, enjoy this short little thing!

Warnings: none!

- Kunikida is the type of man who values quality time together; as someone who is super busy with work, any time off the clock and with you is treasured and cherished greatly.

- If you work at the ADA, its obvious to say that he won’t act super coupley with you; he will however, glance over at you a lot (to check if you’re working pfffttt) - though he finds himself staring at you for longer than intended (this man is in love love okay?)

- He will occasionally drop a forehead kiss when he is passing by, or instead of holding hands, he will link your pinky fingers together when no one is looking.

- If you work at the same desk as him, either side of him or opposite, please please play footsies with him; he may scold you but he secretly loves it when you affectionately kick him or rub your leg against him.

- Kunikida will bring you coffee, or tea, or something caffeinated, especially if you had a bad night sleep - but rest assured, he will also scold you if you have too much caffeine because “its not good for you” smh

- oh yeah, get used to getting scolded - but I guess you could call it a love language of his

- If you don’t work at the ADA, Kunikida makes a special note that he is to come straight home to see you immediately after work. With the exception of emergencies, (like idk the ADA being threatened by an enemy organisation every other week) he will make sure that absolutely everything is done at work so that he can put it behind him and focus on you.

- After work, if you ask him to pick up some milk from the store, he’s on it, it’s written in his notebook and he will absolutely not forget; also, I just know that he would pick up some flowers for you whilst there’s are the store

- He gives me househusband vibes honestly, he shares the load of housework (if not takes on majority of the responsibility, not that you wouldn’t do it, but he has a system). If he comes home from work before you, expect the place to be spotless, not only for his wellbeing, but he likes seeing your face light up in surprise.

- I mentioned that he isn’t into PDA at work, but its totally opposite outside of hours. In fact, I believe he is quite clingy. Constantly touching you kind of clingy. If you are cooking, his arms are around your waist, head in the nook of your neck and he just holds you for a long while

“Darling, I’m trying to cook”

- Speaking of cooking, he would also be a fantastic chef. He would scope out the best recipes and follow each instruction to a tee. Though, as much as he enjoys cooking, his favourite meals are the ones you make, because they come from you.

- Kunikida’s love language is definitely more physical than it is in words. Don’t get me wrong, he would tell you he loves you, but he’s not exactly versed in romance. That being said, if you want cuddles and/or kisses? You got it on TAP. Any moment, at any time, BOOM its yours - if you catch him in a good mood, he may also be generous with his hugs and kisses at work - but don’t push your luck.

- If you ever so much as compliment him, he will explode. Bright red, a little speechless (or at least incoherent) and will mumble something about how lovely you are - trying his best to return the compliment.

"A Dream of the Woodland," my Barney Snaith pov fic, has the most kudos simply because the Blue Castle Book Club are lovely and generous people!

5-Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I do because I'm still new enough to this that every comment has me giggling and kicking my feet, and I want the commenter to feel like their time was spent well on typing out a reaction! It also feels like a mini-conversation about my favorite thing (my work hehe).

6-What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I mean, "The One who Takes" will automatically be the angstiest because it's canon compliant, basically a canon novelization, and I spent the previous 4800 words leading up to the finale shaping the characters to deliver the maximum possible pain out of an already painful situation. I have to admit I enjoy writing angst; I enjoy happy endings but until now the main feedback I've gotten on my works and pairings is that they're "sweet" and that feels like a vital misrepresentation of my core self lol.

7-What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

"A Dream of the Woodland" probably, again canon compliancy. The two drafts I have growing won't be happy to the same extent.

8-Do you get hate on fics?

9-Do you write smut? If so what kind?

I've become a very fade to black writer after several years of struggling to walk a fine line between graphic, which I guess is the point but not always, and merely allusive, which ends up kind of...unnecessarily poetic (me staring at the sex scene in Divine Rivals, which had me convinced the writer was Christian). This is me standing on my bandbox, but unless it's explicit, I find including smut incredibly awkward. And sometimes being explicit simply doesn't fit the story, and pwp is not my thing. So I've decided to start steering clear of it until I've found a way to toe that line (Starling House comes closest to achieving this for me, but it's almost not a smut scene? Like you know they're having sex but it's so barely there? OT).

10-Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

Not yet, but I'm still percolating elements for the Dean Priest x Barney Snaith x Walter Blythe fic. After that discussion about Dean being bisexual or at least closetedly in love with Douglas, that idea surged back into my consciousness again.

No, luckily. I'm not famous enough for that to happen lol.

Oh lord what a question. It's hard because I have a few but so often I want to keep them sacrosanct from fanfiction because I have the only correct interpretation of the ship and won't accept others lol. The one exception is that "euchronology" story about Dean x Emily, but otherwise yeah I tend to avoid reading about ships that are special to me.

15-What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

I mean, that LMM sad guy crossover feels a bit ambitious for my time right now, even though I have the elements in place. We'll see.

16-What are your writing strengths?

The prose. I've been doing this for so long that getting pretty words out onto the screen stops feeling like effort.

17-What are your writing weaknesses?

I think I get stuck in my prose and forget that a story needs momentum. And also a shape. Learning how to outline would be great haha.

18-Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

This is actually interesting considering I'm writing for a media created in another language that I partially know, so while writing the new dialogue in "The One who Takes," I was very conscious of not just "would he say that" but also "what would the sentence structure feel like" and "I am also aware that I am filtering this awareness of speech pattern through translation." I don't think I did very well, but it was a thought process.

19-First fandom you wrote for?

I mean, the first "real" OG writing I ever did was very very thinly veiled The Hero and the Crown fanfic (by Robin McKinley, another of my formative books), so I guess that one? Though I feel like I only entered fandom properly this year with The Blue Castle.

20-Favorite fic you've ever written?

"The One who Takes." I don't see that getting dethroned by any of my other ideas any time soon. I love my murder children, I achieved what I wanted with it, I feel like I was writing at the top of my form. It has every element I ever loved in a fic (star-crossed love, hurt/comfort, charged mentor/mentee relationship, unhappy ending) and the form satisfied me (unlinear, lyrical, close 3rd person POV, thematically circular). Milo: A friendly, kind of a chaotic gremlin with himbo energy. Means well but has a bad habit of breaking things and causing chaos accidentally. Dumb enough to not realize if someone has a crush on him, unless he gets told directly (might still not connect the dots lol)

Celine: Smart, seemingly the polite and level-headed one. An absolutely mischievous gremlin in truth who likes messing with people and causing chaos just like Milo - only intentionally, and she is typically able to cover her tracks. Really loves learning about new things and is pretty competitive, often wanting to prove she's smartest in the room, for better or worse.

Weaknesses:

Milo: Due to witnessing their father's death, Milo has a phobia of tight places/being buried alive and therefore doesn't enjoy being in cramped rooms or crowds that get too big. He is mute that does sometimes cause trouble with communication, as not everyone understands sign language, and he doesn't know any telepathy spells and struggles to learn such magic.

Celine: Sometimes a bit too smug for her own good, where she overestimates her own capabilities. Her competitiveness can lead to problems where she might lash out at her friends and family if she loses, and generally act kind of mean. She always does apologize once she realizes she's gone too far, though.

ABOUT THEIR LATE FATHER:

The Faylunes had a fairly normal and happy family life living at the glow apple farm they ran.

Milo had rushed to try and help his dad when he'd gotten stuck under fallen debris and due to being disoriented hadn't been able to use his shrinking ability to escape,. Unfortunately, Milo didn't make it on time, and the resulting sudden flash of fire from the collapse also hit Milo, resulting in him losing his other eye and later wearing an eyepatch. (There is regenerative magic in this world, but trying to regenerate such delicate organs like eyes to another person is very risky and often not worth the effort)

Since he's the only one who directly witnessed the event, he was hit the worst out of the whole family, going mute and developing severe fear of tight places that seem to threaten to collapse onto him, like the barn collapsed onto their father. (He didn't develop a fear of fire given it ultimately wasn't the blaze that killed their dad, and had he not gotten trapped, their father could've probably managed to put the fire out.)

Fun Facts

Every sibling in this family has a clothing piece referencing their butterfly/moth wings and theme made by their mom; Celine has her long-sleeved shirt, Milo his fluffy cardigan coat, Claude his jacket, and Cecil his knot shirt/poncho thing.

Milo's SPD form is very similar to Hayden's, only his is blue as the inverse of his wing colors is bunch of blues, where Hayden had purples.

Celine is a huge fan of Avane Faydream, as she's seen how incredibly good fighter and tactician she is.

Another person she finds cool is Adam's oldest brother Chester(Azul) who is currently "away," (he's a wanted fugitive for stealing something highly valuable and dangerous from the Overshadower Council, a branch of their world's government), but Celine doesn't know that)

generally, she tends to dig confident and intelligent people, who are able to use their tactical skill to defeat an opponent instead of brute forcing it.

Milo is closest with their oldest sibling Claude among the bunch, but generally all 4 siblings are fairly close and have their own inside jokes that others don't get.

Milo's wings are based on Atlas moth, and Celine's the tiger butterfly like their older brother Claude's wings.

Milo tends to want to keep his cardigan on even during summer, when its honestly too warm to wear. This tends to lead to him stripping naked apart from the said cardigan, up until his mom tells him off

Milo's shirt has the logo of his favorite in-world rockband, the Showman's Lament. His sister also loves it, and owns a similar shirt, just white instead of dark grey.

While, like their older siblings, the two go to school in the capital Chrysalis city, they always travel back home to their mom for weekends and holidays, as she's currently mostly by herself otherwise.

The siblings' style tends to be kind of a mix of urban, sporty and punky fashion when in the city, but at the farm they do wear more practical clothing to help out their mother. (Hayden and Claude do the same ofc)

She wears something akin to an iWatch that keeps track of her body temperature and has alarms that ring if she needs to adjust to be cooler or warmer. She performs self-checks multiple times a day to ensure she hasn't hurt herself in her sleep or doing any sort of activity. She's been hospitalized for injuries or illnesses before with no outward tells to what's affecting her. As such, she has a close relationship with various doctors. Much of her excellent medical care is thanks to her aunt, whose wealth and influence assured she was always cared-for.

I came across this Gallavich Fandom Intro that @callivich posted and thought that is such a great idea! I'm usually just lurking around the fandom I'm currently in, so why not introducing myself? So, here you go!

Age: I've been 25 for 7 years now.

What made you fall in love with Gallavich? It's actually the reason I started watching Shameless. I came across the scene where Lip, Debbie and Mickey pick up Ian after he runs off with Yev while scrolling Instagram and I was intrigued. So I watched the show and got sucked in by their dynamic and their growth and everything. So yeah, it's all thanks to the Instagram algorithm.

How long have you been a fan? Two months maybe? I'm pretty new.

Favourite Gallavich moment/scene? Oh, that's a hard one. There are so many great scenes. I'm going to say their kiss scene at the club, because it was just beautifully shot and an important moment in Mickey's character developement. I also have to honorably mention the jail pick up scene, as mentioned above.

Favourite Shameless character apart from Ian and Mickey? All the Gallagher siblings. I loved and hated them all at some point, but they are all very dear to me.

Do you write or draw or make edits? No, unfortunately not. I used to write a lot when I was younger and I want to get back into it, so maybe at some point? I will probably share headcanons and the odd meta/opinion from time ot time, we'll see.

Favourite type of Gallavich fics? At the moment I like mostly canon compliant and post canon fics. I've read a lot of Outsider POV recently and I like fics that explore the ever shifting family dynamics. Also generally family fics. I usually get into full on AUs once I've been in a fandom for some time. That being said I like AUs that integrate into canon and don't initially change much. I also like fics that explore darker themes and puts them through a lot. Give me all the angst! But I'm also partial to fluff, really depends on my mood on any given day.

Favourite Gallavich quote? I thought about this a lot and I usually come up blank. I don't really have a good memory for quotes. One that I do remember is "Liking what I like don't make me a bitch" because yeah Mickey, you are so right!
