It's the Typical Story

A DreamSMP Band AU inspired by/loosely based on the first verse of Typical Story by Hobo Johnson. Two bands go head to head, but things are far more complicated than what the fans see on the surface.

How far must Dream have fallen to be jealous of a child? Tommy has only just moved out of his father’s house and he’s the ”savior” of their band, Dream shouldn’t have any ill will. But Dream is the multi talented one, the songwriter and he was the person leading when they got big, so why does everyone love Tommy so much?!

When Karl, Sapnap and Quackity were all in the band together, everything was perfect. Then, Quackity had to quit and the three of them started growing apart. Sapnap and Karl are trying to keep them all together, but without Quackity around they're realizing they might be more than just friends.

Quackity's best friends (and crushes) have become distant. He doesn't want to be bitter, it just hurts, all the inside jokes he's not apart of anymore. It seems like at this point they're not even trying to include him. Simply letting it happen is dangerous, but would calling them out on it fix things or make everything worse?

Phil's son just moved out of the house and he doesn't know what to do. He knows he can't follow Tommy everywhere, but he doesn't have his wife anymore either and is so afraid of being alone. He'd picked up some music from Tommy, Tubbo amd Ranboo's band practice (before they broke up), so when an old friend approaches him, he decides why not join his group? He didn't expect to become rivals with his own son.

After Tommy's falling out with his best friends, he thought he'd never be able to make a record, until Dream’s band is desperate for a fourth member and able to move their lead to bass so he can sing. They've already got a fan base so Tommy is getting scouted, getting fans, news friends and a new start. Suddenly, it feels like there are angry eyes on his back and a new band has popped up, threatening to take his record deal; is everything going to fall apart again?

Jack and Maddie Fenton are trying to capture Danny, their son, to vivisect him. Just one problem; they're possessed, and no one believes Danny when he says that.

He knows his parents. They love him, and they would never do this.

Also, his breath gets frosty when they're near, and their eyes are glowing when he managed to rip off the goggles on his dad.

Danny, unfortunately, has his hands tied. Literally. They slapped some sort of ghost containment shackles on his wrists. All he can do is run, dodge, and try to get his parents to fight off whoever is possessing them.

The biggest problem is this; his begging got the attention of Superman. Like, the actual Man of Steel himself. And Superman doesn't believe him when he says his parents are possessed; he just looks all pitying and shit.

I finally did a back-up, and I can confirm that I have posted 371,571 words of story snippets onto tumblr. :O

okay so i was thinking of a joke earlier about how in DPDC Amity Park's slogan "a great place to live" is not only city propaganda but also the city lording it over the rest of America for being normal. But then I remembered that, despite how many DCU Cities with heroes in it there are, the amount of cities in America without heroes still far outnumber the amount of cities in America WITH heroes.

So I did a little digging so the joke would still land. Something most heroes have in common is that they operate in major cities. What makes a major city? I found that the general consensus is that the population is roughly over or around a million. THEN I looked up the populations of cities in the DCU that I thought of off the top of my head. So Gotham, Metropolis, Starling City, Central City, Jump City. All of them ranked up to millions in population (most of them were in the tens of millions).

Amity Park's wikipedia describes it as being similar to specifically Philadelphia, Chicago, and San Francisco.

Philadelphia's Population: 1.576 million as of 2021 Chicago's Population: 2.697 million as of 2021 San Francisco: 815,201 as of 2021

Whiiich means that Amity Park if we take that from canon, is probably a major city. There are approximately 19,000 cities in America with probably less than a hundred that are major cities. Adding the DCU major cities wouldn't skew the data too much.

Which MEANS that I can make the joke that Amity Park's "great place to live" is not only just typical city propaganda, but also its Amity Park lording it over the other major cities for being one of the only major cities that doesn't have problems bad enough to warrant a superhero or a vigilante. Cue stage left the Fentons and Phantom :)

Amity Parkers were probably SO proud that they didn't need a superhero. They didn't have to worry about things like 'world ending threats' and 'super-powered individuals' and 'staggering property damage'. And then enter Fentons.

It also could be used as an excuse for why nobody took notice to Amity Park getting ghosts if folks like me aren't huge fans of the notion of a media blackout via Tucker, Technus, or the US Government. Or if you want to keep Amity Park as its urban city self. Amity Park's news on ghosts gets drowned out in a week because there's news on more popular, well-known cities going on every other day. The shit going on in Amity Park is every other major city's regular Tuesday and it gets filtered as such.
