Typography has been one of the most talked-about and a trending topic among various designers. These designers include brand designers, UI designers, and dedicated typography designers. All of them can reap benefits from typography by expanding their knowledge regarding the classification of typefaces. Let us take a look at some of the fundamental things that affect typography. They include small projections that give the final finishing strokes. As a result, these typefaces came to be known as serifs. Grotesque g: 1. A spurred uppercase ‘G’ 2. Minimal contrast on the strokes. Older versions include: 3. Some of the curves were more square 4. A double-story lowercase, ‘g’ (Example: Franklin Gothic, News Gothic) Neo-Grotesque: 1. More readable 2. Plainer (otherwise have similar features to the older Grotesques) (Example: Helvetica, Arial, Univers) Geometric Sans Serif: 1. They have round ‘O’s 2. They are based on simple geometric shapes 3. They do not have any contrast between strokes (Example: Futura, Avenir) Humanistic Sans Serifs: 1. They are based on proportions of Roman-style capitals 2. They were basically created to be more legible 3. They have more contrast than other sans serifs 4.
