i saw in your "describe your accent" post you deride people using the term 'general american' to refer to their accent, but that is actually a linguistic term for the american accent that originated in the midwest and became the default accent of news/broadcasting, which in turn a lot of people speak especially if they don't come from areas with established regional diversity. Its label is generally used when comparing large groups of people in a study, for example comparing people from the US to the UK when you are not concerned with region-specific differences.
Also, just as a note, region alone does not define what accent you have, accent varies by class, race, gender, ethnicity, religion, age, sexual orientation etc. and using dismissive language to talk about how people self-identify their accent is kinda a shitty move, even if you may think you're punching up.
hi I made that post when I was 13 . I have . gotten this ask 600 times
edit: also like not to feel the need to explain myself further or whatever but in the multiple years since making that post I've like. become so invested in language that i am seriously considering figuring out a way to study semantics as a, like, sustainable career. I promise I understand what words mean more than I did in middle school.

I’m currently creating an AU for One Piece, and it’s a superhero AU! I just so badly wanted to info-dump about the world I’m creating for it, so I’m going to do it with some poorly drawn maps, etc. I apologize in advance
Okay, so, instead of Reverse Mountain in One Piece, I basically replaced it with a large piece of land that I refer to as a country in this AU. And the country itself resembles Reverse Mountain, as seen below (excuse how poorly done it’s drawn, it was made in haste). It is called Grandline.
This Superhero AU takes inspiration from the DSMP fandom for their superhero/powered AUs! When I was in the fandom, I absolutely adored those AUs, and always imagined what it would be like if we had something similar but with One Piece.
Now, I’ll do some explaining of the map and it’s meaning real quickly (warning, everything is subject to change, as this AU is fresh and still being created).
The circle in the middle is the World Government’s place, and it’s labeled as “MJ” standing for Mariejois. I haven’t created much for them, just yet, so I’ll explore that later. Although I’m likely going to keep Celestial Dragons.
Surrounding the circle are four triangles, and each triangle represents the four seasons, as to give reasons to why some cities have such dramatically different living conditions. This brings me to my next point, the islands in canon. So, within the Grandline, we both visit and hear of several islands, so I decided in this AU I would have them as cities, with their climate varying on the piece of land they occupy. For Example, Drum, would be located on the Winter Island. Or, Alabasta, which would be found on the Summer Island.
On these four triangles is a rectangle with “NB” printed, and this stands for Navy Base. These are the four bases that connect to the World Government, and help fortify it, coincidentally, it also forms the World Government’s symbol. The Navy Bases are where the “Heroes” are located, typically, though you will find the odd straggler throughout the country.
Separating these large pieces of land, are four rivers, referred to by the directions, and each leads into their respective sea. Outside of Grandline, the seas still exist, and the islands that exist within them are still their own countries—for example, Dawn Island, would still be a country in the East Blue.
As the Grandline exists as a country, there is also the New World. But this one is more difficult to enter, as it exists as the ”underground” of the Grandline. Underneath Grandline is a mix of tunnels that span under large amounts of water and earth, inside, it is bustling with life. Enormous cave systems reveal alive cities, full of criminals and not necessarily legal groups. The New World is run by the Emperors, who at this point in time, are, Whitebeard, Kaido, Big Mom, and Shanks. You’ll find that most caves (New World Islands = Caves) are protected by the Emperors.
To enter the New World, you have to travel through a set of tunnels, that you can only access on the Summer part of Grandline, which will lead you to Sabaody. The first cave you will enter, and the only one with the most Heroes present. Instead of the giant trees in canon, this Sabaody is filled with large, thick vines, that enter the earth and breach the surface, covering the upper land, and making the city above it, also called Sabaody, overrun with monstrous vines—it is often referred to as “Snake City” because of the vines likeness to the creatures. Because of the vines, that span through all of the cave systems, infesting them like a weed, air is carried and transmitted easily (this, obviously makes no sense, but I was too lazy to even attempt to make this remotely scientifically accurate).
Another thing, in this AU, pirates from canon have become several different things, depending on the actual character. Some may be vigilantes, assassins, villains, etc. But all Marines have become Heroes, or something similar.
The warlords were vigilantes/villains turned Heroes, in this AU.
The Revolutionary Army also exists in this! They’re more or less similar to what they are in canon, except they have a larger hand meddling within the “New World”.
There is a lot to hash out about the AU, but it’s still fairly new! I still need to figure out how the Strawhats would work in this, and their backstories, etc. I know some things for sure, like how their canon skills would translate to here, and what wouldn’t—for example, I know for sure Nami’s navigation skills would be perfect to include as a way of travelling the never ending, mix of tunnels, in the New World. Other things, however, need some more fixing. I’ll probably continue adding to this, with the AU tag, until eventually this becomes coherent enough for a fic. Anyway, sorry for the long post, this AU is making me crazy over the possibilities!!
* I hope the ALT Text is done correctly, I did my best. Let me know if there are any issues.

not to clutter your inbox but I wanted to chime in a fellow linged enjoyer, I think it's easy to forget how fma is still a mainstream series and most of the fans probably don't even realize edling is a thing because they don't perceive anything that isnt canon unless it's straight, and how the "dudebros" come and attack any type of ed and ling content, usually fanart, that could potentially be perceived as romantic. it's crazy too because it's still a rarepair, like it's not even that popular, yet every single edling artist I've seen has gotten at least several homophobic comments on their stuff. idk, not to say people who don't like the ship are usually homophobic obviously it's just a silly ship, but it's super unfortunate how so many mlm or wlw shippers get treated over just doing what they enjoy in a fandom of predominantly popular het ships anyways
YES! that's pretty much what i was getting at near the latter end of the post! (´ ∀ ` )
het ships are still more inherently popular just by the fact that fullmetal alchemist is popular to the general public, and saying that a certain straight ship that is at least implied to be canon is less popular doesn't consider the mass majority of people casually viewing and consuming content from my perspective as a content creator bc... those casual enjoyers Might have biases and shit all over stuff they have biases against and at the end of the day the m/f ships are always going to be more popular unless they're a smidge out there
it's just a matter of content output within the fellow creators in the fandom, even if i don't mind that at all or even perceive it personally :o) i'm friends /w popular artists (and myself included) who've gotten harassed by random dudebros just shitting on the art for existing because 'It's Just Gay to Be Gay' or 'They're Not Canon And This Ship Is' or whatever :")
and yeah i cldn't care less if people are into it because i'm just thriving enjoying these two barbie dolls i'm smashing together to kiss and i don't want to convince anyone to get into them, but only people who post content of wlw and mlm pairings getting confronted on the front that they're just mlm and wlw pairings and something i've only seen happen with gay-oriented pairing content creators is beyond me since you have your canon straight ships right there
tl;dr: i just like them because i like them but linged isnt even actually terrifically popular :'^) at least not anymore, and i think it's kind of hard to Remember That especially for people who aren't content creators especially when it's a gay ship in an already-dormant fandom
obviously i don't think it's harmful to ask and i don't want any bad attention coming onto the og anon because it was just a normal question and i respect and appreciate it! but it's just a matter of 'seeming' when it's really just what you personally consume or perceive
