How do people hunt in your world?

HELL YEAH TIME TO RAMBLE ABOUT WORLDBUILDING-!!!

Prepare yourself for a bunch of information you did not ask for :D!!!!!

Lovely question thank you very much, and very open tho so im just gonna focus on hunting in the Deadzone, since that’s the area in the wcbwe universe that I post about the most :)

…yknow. Im not sure I ever made it really clear so: the Deadzone, with all the oily, acidic water and whatnot, is only a small, small part of the universe. It’s very isolated, so all sorts of wild things go on there :p the rest of the world has normal water. I’m just focusing on developing one part at a time!

Before I really jump into this I’d like to say that the stories I’m writing inside this universe take place over a number of years, like thousands bc immortal ppl exist, so I’m gonna mostly talk about hunting and agriculture around the time that the first instalment of the story ‘Im writing starts (not that that really matters I’m just enjoying rambling lol). So: one-to-two thousand years before the people here started counting the years

oh also bear in mind that at this stage im just making shit up if u want like science behind the shit im making up ur gonna have to get it elsewhere /j :p

Okay so on to the question! How does hunting work in the Deadzone?

There’re a couple things that really shape how things like that work here; the general lack of wood, scarcity of easily accessible drinkable water, the water that can literally melt your skin off, and the fact that open flame here is a Bad Idea (sorry arson mutuals) – but that’s a whole other thing I’m not gonna get into rn lmao

Although – the whole acid rain thing isn’t as big of a problem bc most resources have evolved to be resistant to it, and the people and animals have learned to deal

SO with the dangerous weather/environment, a really popular hunting technique is the use of snares, and herding things into them. They’re reusable, so you get to worry less about the use of resources, you can set them and wait somewhere safe and don’t have to worry about getting caught out in the rain or sandstorms, and assuming you’re setting your traps in an area you know, you don’t have to worry as much about getting lost when visibility is low! Not to mention that setting a trap is less strenuous than than a lot of other forms of hunting, so you need less water, which is a coveted resource, especially at this point in time

Guns don’t exist yet, but if they did, they’d be pretty popular too – and will be when they finally do. I have no clue at what point in time firearms became a thing, but the Deadzone is incredibly isolated anyways, so I can do whatever I want anyways uwu. As it is, archery is definatly a thing instead! Bows and crossbows both are used in hunting, effective long-range weapons :)

Close-range weapons like knives and swords and whatnot do exist and are used, but they’re more so better suited against larger predators, like the murder birb cats. There are these large bug-coyote things I don’t have a solid design for (nightcrawlers; theyre nocturnal. Im so original I know /j) that are really annoying to shoot at. Most people try their best to avoid them and no one’s really out at night – its also really cold so its no big loss – but when people are out at night, you’re gonna want a sword or something. Nightcrawlers are edible, under their tough exoskeleton, but also really dangerous to the people of the Deadzone, so they’re not often hunted for food, more so just to cull their numbers and the fact that they’re edible is just a plus

The murder birb cats are ambush predators mostly, like I mentioned in my other post, and good at avoiding traps – or worse, turning them against the hunter. So they’re rarely hunted specifically (if someone has a chance to kill one though they wil definitely take it), but their eggs are often poached for both food and to get rid of as many threats to a village as possible.

Most animals are pretty difficult to actively… uh. I cant remember the word? Corral? Herd?... farm? and it’s the same with plants bc their main source of hydration is incredibly dangerous to handle – except for these one creatures I first thought up when all I could think about was the people who follow around the murder birds (dw we’re gonna talk abt that im in too deep I’m incapable of not-). The. only visual I have for them is like tall, lanky humpless camels with like. Snouts like those smooth mammal things whos faces look like a mix between anteater and capybara snouts that the only tentative first-draft name ive come up w for them is ‘snufflers’ XD and that sounds way too much like the knew Minecraft mob lmao-

At the point in time where the wcbwe universe begins, snufflers are the only truly domesticated animal in the Deadzone. They’re used as mounts, for food, and, more importantly, they can accurately predict when it’s about to rain, and start barking… maybe screamers or something would be a better name lmao theyre just too soft for that :p

Because they work as a warning system for the other wildlife who aren’t immune to the rain, predators in the Deadzone (with the exception of the nightcrawlers) don’t attack snufflers unless in incredibly dire situations, and, by extension, the people of the Deadzone are mostly safe when close enough! So they’re incredibly popular mounts for travelling the desolation of the Deadzone. Snuffler… ‘rangers’ or ‘ranchers’, this is newer lore so I’m not quite settled on any names/titles yet, have travelling farms that herd their flocks between a rotation of local villages to sell/trade them for various resources. Even just keeping the snufflers in the village deters most predators from hunting there, with the exception of nightcrawlers who will attack snufflers anyways (might be because their exoskeleton protects them from the rain so the warning means nothing to them), and the murder bird cats, who are smart enough to hunt people while leaving the snufflers alone.

THIS IS WHERE I BRING UP THE PEOPLE WHO FOLLOW THE BIRBS AROUND :D

Some ranchers take a snuffler or two and head out either on their own or in small groups no larger than five, to follow the bird cat flocks. When they’re quite literally sat atop the snufflers, the murder friends mostly leave them alone. Of course they also have to be incredibly careful until they build up enough trust within the flock, because they would definitely be considered a threat or food and taken out if they stray too far or close. If the rouge ranchers want to be able to follow and live among the murder friends in relative safety, they’ve got to prove that a) theyre not a threat and b) they’re more useful alive than dead

Ranchers who follow the cats tend to hunt larger prey like the nightcrawlers, and share their kills with the bird cats, among other things, and the murder friends return the favour once the ranchers have been accepted as friends. Its an incredibly important and dangerous job, but also scorned. The murder bird cats are a serious threat to villages and just the people of the Deadzone in general – and the ranchers often become protective and defensive of their flocks, which causes some conflict. Still, these ranchers (who don’t have a separate title yet) are incredibly important for life in the Deadzone. They provide information on where their flocks are so people can avoid them or hide, they have easy access to eggs they can sell or trade as food, and if they have enough respect within the flock can even help provent attacks on villages – not to mention all they learn about the predators, and it always helps to know things about your enemies. One of my ocs, and the pov character of a story I’m writing  named Arceli is one of these ranchers! Though unfortunately that doesn’t last very long and isn’t the focus at all :,)

So those’re two of the most important jobs in the Deadzone and we’ve gone seriously off topic!

Hunting, right-

Well, hunting’s pretty hard without tools lol! I don’t know much about the production of any tools you’d use for hunting n shit so I won’t really talk about that, but I can tell you a bit of what they’re made out of! Though not much sorry ;-;

Metals do exist here and while fire isn’t an option, they do still have the melty water and some forms of bioluminescence that produces heat! I wont go into details I don’t know, but both rock and metal can be heated and molded similar to how they could in our world… just not with fire haha. And also bone! This would work exactly the same as how it does on earth – but the Deadzone has an abundance of bones, particularly around the edges

The Deadzone is surrounded by a barrier called The Threshold – and the Threshold is basically a large ring of the bones of dead things that have tried to cross it. I’m tempted to try and explain but I can’t draw which would really help w the explanation and also this is already really long so I’ll just keep it simple with it’s not a hard line in art terms bc those’re the only words I know rn in art terms it sort of. Ombres and condenses before dispersing out again. and by ‘it’ I mean the bones

So bones are easily accessible, and a pretty abundant resource!

Lots of em littered around; they’re used for pretty much everything from tools/weapons to for building to even for food and snacks – things to gnaw and whatnot – especially marrow (in what I’m assuming would be primarily from fresher kills).

(I don’t know why I mentioned agriculture earlier ive barely brought it up whoops. Probably won’t go into it either, unless it comes up naturally, this is just already way to long lmao)

Another thing that plays a large part in hunting is that pretty much everything, people and animal alike, have very strong stomachs, and people, in smaller doses, know how to prepare carrion in a way that wont immediately make you super fucking sick. I haven’t decided how long it takes for things to rot in the Deadzone; the air is super cold there, cold enough to significantly slow down the decomposition process bUT the sands and rocks and shit are really really good at absorbing heat from the sun, like they can get hot enough to burn you. So I guess it depends on how sunny it is but that doesn’t really matter the point is. It’s way less (if at all) necessary now, what with the invention of traps and tools for hunting and farming the snufflers, but the only way you live long enough to evolve in the Deadzone is if you’re a scavenger of some kind.

So back to hunting. I’ve mentioned it once or twice but visibility is Really Shitty most of the time, so when you’re going out, you’ve to plan to be lost for a few days or you’re dead. If you stick close to your village you’re not gonna get as good of results, but at least you’re much more likely to make it home at the end of the day. Stray too far and you could get so turned around it takes you a month to get home – but you’d probably stumble across some really good prey to bring back, when you’re in places people don’t end up in often.

Bioluminescence! Is a thing here!

Ive already mentioned that in multiple different things, but guess what! It applies here, too!

So like with bioluminescent fish, often predators use their own possible bioluminescent qualities to lure in prey. This was first observed by the rangers following the murder bird cats (I haven’t settled on a specific design but so far they’ve got whiskers that can grown from the chin, crown of the head, and along the spine and base of the tail that have a glowing bubble at the end), and was adapted by people for use in traps and as lures in the same way

ANYWAY

the raven cycle is a YA urban fantasy quartet by maggie stiefvater published between 2012 and 2016, which also has a spinoff series "the dreamer trilogy" but ive only read the first Dreamer so far; i have a signed copy of the 2nd and am mildly worried ill ruin it. i first read TRC last year in july and am actually currently doing my 3rd read (via audiobook this time). So what is it about, you ask??? WELL

TRC stars 5 teenagers--Adam Parish, Ronan Lynch, Richard Gansey, Blue Sargent, and Noah Czerny. the boys meet blue at a restaurant and somehow drag her into their "quest"--find the body of Owen Glendower in the hills of virginia and wake him up. They want to do this because when gansey was 10 he died via wasp stings and was brought back to life with the voice of glendower talking to him and now he's OBSESSED with finding glendower. Along the way we find out Blue is gonna kill her true love, and that guy probably is gansey (who only has a year to live).

u may be thinking, 'alright, cool plot, but why special interest-worthy?" and i shall gently yell BECAUSE ITS THE BEST WRITING AND CHARACTERIZATION IVE EVER COME ACROSS

Maggie stiefvater knows how to make the best characters, like, ever, because she doesnt do the typical YA thing of "oh uwu here are their flaws: theyre too nice, too sweet, too naive". she's got shit like "purposely failing school" & "stupid about money and insensitive to friends about it" and "refuses to ask for help" and "drinks to cope", y'know, things that are actually flaws to overcome.

they've also all got amazing little traits just-to-them; blue really likes trees, layers her clothing, loves yogurt, is the only non-psychic in a family of them, & shreds her shirts to make them look more interesting. Ronan races cars, knows how to farm, LOVES his little pet bird (named Chainsaw btw), and grapples with being religious (catholic) vs being gay. Noah is quiet and "smudgy" and doesn't eat enough (because he doesnt. actually. have a stomach or like an actual brain really thats another thing tho). Gansey loves his journal and is terrified of wasps and eats avacado on his pizza and is really good at finding things. Adam wears a coca-cola shirt and is super focused around money (bc he Has None) and lives above a church and helps ronan do stupid shit. like, this is the stuff i thought of within 30 seconds for each character, and most of that alone is in the 1st book. like, it gets even more thorough as it goes on.

and the WRITING. i know exactly what the inside of gansey's car looks like and it wasnt boring to learn that. like, i still remember that stiefvater described that there's CDs in the backseat and beef jerky thats long expired and too many receipts. I remember 300 fox way (blue's house) doesnt have a single man living there and that there's a sewing-phone-cat room. I remember monmouth (gansey's house) was a factory but it's unknown what it produced but there's scorch marks on the walls and really high ceilings. I know blue adores the stars and trees and i know persephone (blue's mother's friend) listens to angry PHD music. Like, this was all peppered in casually but written in such a gripping way that its lodged in my brain. i was never once bored reading TRC, and ive gotten bored reading almost every other book, even the ones i love.

and the MAGIC is so cool, there's psychics and trees that speak (but only in latin!) and dragons made of fire that came out of people's heads and demon bugs and weird sticky stuff that tears apart the world. it's not all explained, and i love that, because it's explained enough that i'm satisfied but i don't somehow know more than all the characters combined.

... anyway i realize ive practically written an essay, and also i have to do my nano shit now cause theres not a ton of hours left in the day, but!!! soul is doing the smiley emote!! because raven cycle!!

2012 Raphael - All Symbol Headcanons please uwu

12 Raphie turn uwu I'm constantly sadden by people making him out to be abusive well openly ignoring how he contradicts his words all the damn time. Claims his brothers are annoying and he would be better on his own. First thing he dose when any of them are in trouble? run to their rescue. extends to others even like rushing to save April or how often he covers and protects Casey. You can't go off what he says gotta watch what he dose Raph is emotionally stunted and illiterate. He loves his family and friends he's just not able to communicate it ;3; Honestly I love his character arch in the show it's very much in the background seeing him going from Cocky and closed off to humbling himself a bit and opening up more. I just wish not most of his episodes centered around his fear of bugs (totalt of 3 times we get this plot) considering some of the stuff he dealt with u-u

𝓕 : My muse’s handwriting. (Is it good, bad, difficult to decipher, do they prefer writing by hand or with the help of some form of machine, e.t.c.) 

"I know how to write jeez." Two examples since the show dose give us this little peek of Raph's work on the party wagon. Raph writes in cursive and he kind of hates it. Raph just has the artist eye and because hes so used to writing tools from drawing he has a nice flow when he writes. Has one of the far more easier handwriting to understand. it is a nice little peek into who he is because its clear to read you can see that Raph is pretty confident the rounded look to his letters also shows he is creative with artistic ability but seeing as we have his art in view we already know this. He writes fast though because he is kind of impatience unless it for like the party wagon painting her than he'll take his time. It's often the only time you'll see Raph hold patience.

✈ : My muse and  traveling. (If they do it frequently and why, if they never left their home town, e.t.c.)

"hmmm been a lot of places? See we went to space cause of the tricetrons. UH been to Japan twice one for time travel and I think Don said we went to some other world Japn that other time too? Uh saw Egypt and Transylvania as well? Soo I dunno whats more distance?"

I guess comes down to what you think is the furthest distance? In America it's up to the Farm House. On the planet? Thanks to Ranet him and his brothers have gone to Parts of Europe, Japan and even Egypt. He has been to Space and not just space different planets well there. Not to mention the few times he's go to full different dimensions. Which I dunno in a way is nice seeing how there was a good chance they would never even seen the surface of New York.

✿ : My muse and nature. (If they are an ‘outdoorsy type’, like the sound of bird’s singing, if they have never set foot in a forest, e.t.c.) 

"Eh I 'ike the city too much who needs the outdoors." Lies, during the farm house arch Raphael was fucking thriving in the woods. This boy was out there every day training and even taking care of things around the place like chopping wood for fires and what not. I think he came to really love being out in the woods since they had so much freedom even with the doom hanging over his head. Once Leo was awake from his coma you can see Raph being able to fully enjoy it. The few times they go camping or travel in more nature settings he never has any issue with it, its a nice change of pace from sewer tunnels and brick city buildings.

He was having the time of his life even when him and brothers tried to figure out how to simply start a fire he was pretty damn excited for a fire even if the rain took it out soon after. Heck first solo patrol he goes on hes wearing his vision quest outfit for no reason at all. Raph just really got in tuned with nature didn't take much for him to do so on his quest either able to connect with fire pretty easy. Also one of the times Raph's anger issue were really centered because he was anger all that fresh air seemed to be good for him.

Closest he gets to nature in the city is when he sneaks away to the docks. He loved the woods of course but he loves the beach even more. He likes the feeling of walking on the soft sand, loves the sound of the waves washing over it. When the moon is is wide and full it's near sliver light seems to just reflect over the water and give the sand an unmatched look. It's the pretties thing he has ever seen and only recreated once by a certain pretty boy of his.

☼ : My muse’s first memory. (Where it was, who was with them, how this memory makes them feel, e.t.c.) 

"First? well I guess watching Splinter fightin' ? I kind of remember getting rolled over by that shopping cart too?"

I love Lone Rat and Cubs it's such a good episode makes me sad it was all the way in season 5!! But man It's just cute watching Splinter take on his role as the turtles Dad. And just watching him slowly watch his turtles personalities start to come in to fulrition. Raphael watched Splinter run to check on him when he got hurt and honestly? Raph as a baby turtle could have easily died at that time falling flat on the ground, having been ran over even and only his plastron chipped? To then watch Splinter's own anger flare and send him into a murderous rage on the kraang? Yeaaah I feel this was a core memory for old Raphie boy here uwu

Raph seems to really make strength and fighting out to be important. Often refereed to have a fiery warrior spirit even. Watching his father lash out when someone he cared for got hurt and won? Familiar isn't that?

The turtles went a good while eating a very limited source of food for clear obvious reasons, but having pizza was like a mind blow experience so much so they wanted Mr.Murakami to make them pizza as well getting their pizza dumplings a dish they pretty much only seem to eat there. So safe to say Raph loves Pizza. He's pretty simple and more goes for just pepperoni often grossed out by Mikey's experimental toppings.

I'd also say that Raph also is a fan of lasagna because it was what Casey's dad made when he went to first meet them. Sure the whole meeting was awkward as fuck. But Arnold was hardly phased by A giant turtle in his house. He called him by name, he looked at Raph when he spoke. he didn't talk to him through Casey, and yeah maybe asking how long has he been a turtle been enough to make Casey face plat on to the table. Raph knew there wasn't any malice in Arnaldo's voice.

He did something Raph didn't know he wanted he saw Raph as he was he was scared or put off and even acknowledged it as just something normal he never diverts from the fact Raph is in fact a fucking mutant turtle. It's just who Raph is. And Raph can never explain it but he will always apperacite how Casey's Dad was with him and continued to be. So yes he loves lasagna but only caseys dad's I think it be cute if he learned how to make it since he takes on role of cook for his own family ;3;

"Pft come on i'm all for metal music, punk or just good classic rock. Though Taylor Swift is my girl."

Of course Raph loves anything with good drum beats in it so he can learn the parts of those songs himself on his own drum set. He loves metal and music more in that vine. Loves the vibrations from those kinds of songs and groups. They are loud and it's kind of why he likes them so much it makes it easier to pick up on the sound from and its often how he learns to play those parts from listening so intently.

Of course hes got a soft spot for some pop music but nothing tops his love for Taylor Swift music from here start to her current sound even. Shake it off happens to be his all time favorite song and often what he listens to when hes just having a bad day. Lets to have little spa days listing to it on repeat uwu. It why he never would judge Casey on some of his taste in music cause Raphs a swifty u-u a proud one yes but still can he really mock anyone when he's over there in his room singing to bad blood? Nope besides he likes to think his and Casey's song is Wonderland.

Didn't they tell us don't rush into things? Didn't you flash your green eyes at me? Didn't you calm my fears with a Cheshire cat smile?

HAHAHAHHA not never this boy has never been able to just move on and let things go he just claims he dose. Donnie puts it best when telling raph to get new material. Raph never is full able to work though things though so it's hard for him to just let it go. He just brushes it off but that means it's never really resolved.

Hell his issues with Splinter is the biggest clue to this fact. Raphael never gets to fully get into how he feels because he struggles with expressing his emotions and feelings. From people not really letting him have the stage so he can talk, jumping in to fill in the gaps or put words in his mouth that isn't what he is trying to say at all. Which of course frustrates him because no one is listening! or giving him that simple need to be heard. Raph isn't looking for solutions he just wants his emotions to be heard. That is why his anger issue are so bad his temper is trying to express how he is feeling but it just comes out in a burst of furry and rage.

Raph never able to turly work over things that get to him it's why he seems to have issue with Leo its not aimed at Leo he just became the target. Raph ties so fucking hard he just wants Splinter's affection and praise. Splinter states he once wanted to be an artist and its why he named his sons after artist of his favorite period in time of art. And Raphs pretty good at art and takes it serious even knowing enough to name characters after works of art or artis themself it what he did with Chompy. He loves to fight and train and genuinely enjoys sparring and practicing. He often is the one who wins the sparring matches and when he dose? He seeks Splinters praise! He wants his Dad's approval so damn much. That Raph assumed he would be leader but when leo is made leader with out a second thought? Sure explains why Raph at the start is so critical of Leo's leadership. Questions his orders and heck he often gets Mikey and Donnie to agree with his side over Leo's turning the team against Leo more than once. But it was never even about Leo.Raph only ever seems to start expressing this resentment later when he finally calls out Splinter.

Raph just wants Leo to slip up knock him down a peg or two even show Splinter he isn't perfect and shouldn't be the so called favorite. Its kind of awful of Raph to see Splinter giving leo that weight of responsibility purely out of favoritism. It's pretty clear Raph admires Splinter he always shows him respect. He controls his temper around him listens to Splinter over any one even. This boy just feels he can never measure up to Leo in his fathers eyes.

Splinters death hurts them all of course but it hurts Raph worse because he never got to repair their relationship. Raph tried to follow his Dad's advice but it just never worked for him. To let things they get to him roll off his back like water, soon Raph found himself drowning in all that water. He was never water it was like his flames were being extinguished. It's what he needed most for people to see his fiery nature not as something bad because fire isn't always dangerous either.

"Eh I dunno I sleep when I sleep and get what I need I guess."

Raph is a night owl he likes to stay up but he also dose struggle with sleeping a bit. So he is often just up watching tv till his eyes grow tried. Sometimes Raph sleeps just a bit more than he normally dose because sometimes getting up is just to hard and he rather be in bed.

"..I like art"

Raph and his art skills I wish got more love just cause it's so an underrated part of his character. I truly feel he got into it because of Splinter. But he soon took a real interest in it on his own learning about different artis and paintings even to points he uses it to nickname Mona and name Chompy after who I am going to claim to be his favorite artist Picasso.

Raph loves to draw a lot but it's something he more keeps to himself but his brothers I feel know raph can draw, he has draw fan art of Captain Ryan for Leo and used to draw with Mikey when they tots. He sort of got into the habit of Drawing special stuff just for Casey it was a subtle way at first for him to express he had a crush on them. Casey also being able to draw soon landed them to start making street art together and it was kind of his favorite thing to do nearly beating going out and getting into fights together even. I like to think he has drawn on Casey a few times with washable markers of course. Sometimes just the little grim reaper he draws Casey Vigilante look.

For a short time after Splinter dies though Raph can't pick up a pencil again and refuses to do anything art related. It just hurts too much. Chompy getting into drawing though sort of helps bring Raph's love for it back. In a way it's him getting something he never had with Splinter. He wanted to connect with Splinter so bad but just couldn't but his own kids? It sort of helps heal something in him that was always hurting he wasn't aware of.

"Eh not really for it much if im honest, people online are annoying."

He has some social media but he isn't active persay. Raphael isn't much for sites that would require more interaction on his part he more for stuff like Vine or youtube cause watching others videos is a bit more fun. of course he kind of likes the skater trick videos or mimicky jackass stuff that was pretty popular back then. He has a tumblr and sometimes he'll post his art there a few of his street art/ tagging as well. But never went and like connected with people online Raph kind of sees no value to it he rather it be in person even if he wont admit to it.

✉  : My muse and others. (If they social and outgoing or more introverted, and why. If they prefer communicating with others face to face or in written form, e.t.c.). 

"Hmm I like maybe ten people at best."

Raphs just a grumpy turtle lets be honest. I would call him introverted though. He isn't very pleasant on a first meeting and he kind of doesn't give a shit to win people over either when meeting someone. But he dose tend to prefer others company at times, heck hell actively look around to see if any of his brothers are available to hang out with. Annoyed if they more occupied with other things. At other times he rather be alone and needs to be alone even.

But some people seem to be exceptions Raph dose seem to like hanging out with his brothers training with Leo, watching tv with Don or sitting in Mikey's room. But of course his favorite person to be alone together with is lCasey his best friend and boy friend uwu. Sometimes he can just exist in Casey's presence without saying a word. Though often when alone? They are a bit busy making out and such soooo talking isn't always needed uwu. But other times they are just happily cuddled together just soaking in each other.

▶ : My muse and level of education. (If the muse has some form of education, what education they perhaps wish they had, e.t.c.). 

"Smarter than bone head so clearly ya don't need it."

Raph's decently smart actually sure he isn't on Don's level or even Mikey's surprise genius but he is clever. A more creative thicker than a logical one for sure. Fights tends show this best since he can often adjust what he is doing on the fly. Like in his and Casey's fight he has to switch up what he is doing a lot. Taking advantage of what he can to get one up on Casey. He goes from brute strength to more tactical movements as Casey's way of fighting dose throw him since they can go both offense and defense easily. And Raph has a far more defense style of fighting.

He doesn't always understand what Don is saying and has to ask them to re-explain. But at the same time sometimes he'll make suggestion that sound stupid like shooting sonic blasts into the air only for Donnie to back it up and state he's not wrong just not in the litteral way he may take it.

But was able to learn how to make use of hitting pressure points just from watching Splinter do it.

I would more say he has Spatial intelligence, he is a visual person its easier to understand something when he can see it and works well with his ability to draw.

"I may like them a lot."

Raph is just making himself out to be a Disney Princess here, he loved and took such great care of Spike. He knows how to talk to pigeons and clearly loves them from how he petted one. He spoiled both Savage and Chompy as turtles. Knew exactly what they needed from their diet to their tank. Raph often watches animal documentaries as well and can get a bit too tied up in them. Easily grows attached to the ones more focused in the videos and will get visibly upset if anything happens to them. Like if a cub is killed he will be upset for days and often it's covered up because well he's Raph hes a walking bad mood. If asked? he knows he'll get laughed at but he really was upset okay u-u

I feel its not really something the turtles do but I like to think for special occasions Raph will go out of his way to do something nice either find something his brothers mentioned liking or needing. He tends to go further for Casey but that's his boy friend uwu the more physical thing he gave Casey of course was their collar at first he was just messing around when finding one in some old shop. It was a joke a first wanting to make them pout cause hes cute when pouting, but then Raph kind of saw it as something Casey could keep from him something that was a more tangible visual of him and Casey dating. Of course, it played into a few kinks that Raph didn't know he had either. Outside that I feel Casey has gotten a few drawings from Raph not a lot just a few here and there. He rather Casey only have like finished work if he gives him anything like that.

Raph loves his brothers theres no way around that he may fight with them find them annoying even and hell sometimes wish he was alone. But Raph would kill anyone who hurts them. He often puts them before himself "I don't care if I get hurt but my brothers?" Raph is very protective of his brothers and he would gladly die protecting them but his job is to protect them. He's a tough guy but he has a soft sport for all three of them.

Mikey of course that's his baby brother anything happens to him puts him in the worst panics and brings out the worst of his aggression. Raph also will help pick Mikey back up when he's been beaten emotionally down.

Donatello despite how he may drag them at times it's clear Raph is looking out for Donnie in his own way wanting to protect them from more emotional pains. Which is funny because in the show at least Don even with the fact he will call Raph a baby and often remark on bringing up old stuff all the time, also is the most in tune with Raphael. Often the only one who feels bad if he was the cause of Raph being upset. Raphael also tends to mess with Donnie the most in sparing matches its far more like playtime for him if not a lot of bullying. Think you can blame this on the fact that Donnie would fight back against Raph when they were tots. Don's like the only brother Raph will out right admit almost beats him in fights as well, Leo's his rival can't and wont do that. Mikey is baby brother he hate if they ever one up him after all. Donnie though? He even states how Donnie impresses him at times. I think Don showing concern for Raph's emotional state often helps with why they are the way they are sure they bicker. Raph and Don seem to often take eachs other sides pretty easily if they aren't fighting between themself of course. Don often agreeing with Raph against Leo. And Raph encouraging Don's own rebellious nature when going against Leo's orders. I'd say Raph and Don have a bit or rockyness between them still sadly and has kind of made Raph get distant from his twin in this verse when he was told Don had a crush on Casey he got visibly upset the reason for it was because he felt like him and Don always had a good relationship he could just always count on one fact. Donnie was there for him but he couldn't tell him about this? Even if Don is right and maybe Raph would have stepped back he just wished they would have trusted him. When it turned out Don was sick Raph of course worried about his brother and moved past this but as stated he never really got to properly air things out with Donnie and has sort of let that distance grow which he felt more when he and Casey were in a difference universe sort of using that worlds Donnie as a stand in made he see that well he really just misses his twin brother.

Leo of course they have their rivalry but it's clear that was never targeted at Leo. Raph loves Leo and he and Leo are very close referring to themself as the A team even. They often can work well enough with out talk needed between them. And can goof around easily. When Raph was in such a fit of rage Leo hugging him snapped him out of it. Often Leo can get through to Raph the best And Raph soon learned to understand what Leo's dealing with and ties to be his right hand more than another follower. Raph is honestly? very close to Leo despite everything Leo meet him head on sure they fight but Leo will try and at least give raph that space he needs to talk but he will also let Raph well be a little brother at times when he rests against them or just needs to seek out a sense of saftey he always turns to Leo. As sad as it is he can go to Leo over Splinter because he knows Leo dosen't think bad of him how he feels Splinter dose. He would rather die then admit any of that but Leo's nearly a parental figure for Raph. Losing Leo scares him more than losing Splinter ever did.

When Raph's and Casey's turtles mutate of course it's like them forming their own family. Raph honestly just wants his sons to know they don't need to earn thier love he will always love them and be proud of them if they make mistakes he isn't going to scold them he rather understand why they needed to think a bit more through thier choices. Wants them to know they can always tell how they feel no matter what. Help them with thier own anger issues maybe even as well. Raphael just dosen't want Savage ad Chompy to ever feel like he did growing up he might still mess up but he wants his sons to at least know he loves them more than anything and would burn the world if anything happened to them uwu

Raph of course has his in-laws as well which I feel is a special relationship for Raph. he met Angel first and she can get him to do anything I feel. He let her paint his face up and though he hates it? Hell always let her do it. He sees her as his own sister and when she did slip and get mixed up with the Purple Dragons landing Casey in trouble not once did he yell at her over it. Casey mom he only met once when she had pasted and needed to figure out how to help Casey. Se was nice and kind to him and seemed to trust Casey in his care which to Raph was like having a blessing. If Casey mom felt Raph was good for Casey then he must be and honestly? it help his jealousy and fears. Casey father I went into I like to see it as Raph kind of getting the parent relationship he might have more needed growing up. He may never get to that level of comfort that Casey has with his Dad but he dose grow to feel he can turn to Casey dad when needed.

Usually, group of students tend to stay at their classrooms after class to finish stuff or just to chill (so me) so most likely, you’re never alone.

So Oikawa is surprised upon arriving at your room only to see you all alone as you sit on the teacher's table with this guitar on your lap.

You actually brought your guitar for a group performance in a subject (JHS feels ✨)

"Ikaw ang Binibini na ninanais ko" kidding. You definitely sang an english love song not that HAHAHAHAHA (sorry LSS)

He didn't announce his arrival, you know? He hid his self at the doorway, staring at you (like a stalker-) as you drown yourself with your guitar and your voice.

Listening to you was 👌 so good and before you knew it, you earned yourself a fan.

Silently, he took his phone and was aiming to record your guitar session.

But lmao Tooru had the flash on his cam on

Surprised, you looked at the doorway, only to see your boyfriend peeping like a creep.

"Tooru, what are you doing?"

"I was trying to record you." 👁️👄👁️

The fact that your boyfriend saw you playing the guitar and singing made you blush. You placed your guitar on the table-

"No! No! No! Don't stop, Y/N!" Oikawa stops you as he runs towards you.

That makes you more embarrassed honestly but he keeps on showering you praises to the point that you can no longer tell if they were real or just bluff.

He will definitely bug you to continue playing your guitar even though you made excuses but he's not buying them.

"Play this song!" "Do you know this song?" "Play this song next!" He says that while his phone is recording you.

In the end, it became a live performance of you and Oikawa as your audience. He has this grin in his face as he rests his chin in his palms, the other hand holding his phone, looking as if he is being lulled with your voice and your guitar.

After he's finally had enough of listening to you, he'd give you a tight hug after you zipped up your guitar case. Kissing the top of your head, he'd shower you praises again as if the praises earlier weren't enough.

"You're so good, Y/N, you should've told me you can sing and play the guitar." "I'm gonna brag about this to Iwa-chan and the rest tomorrow." "Can I post your video at my IG?"

Another first love

Singing and playing the guitar are hobbies you don't really share with other people.

But when your classmate brought their guitar to school, you couldn't help but to give in to the urge to borrow.

Your classmates were totally in awe as they hear you sing and play. This makes you feel so flustered but sistz, we stan an individual who shows the world their talent! 🥺✨

Anyways, it has became a ritual for you and your boyfriend, Bokuto, to eat lunch together at your room. Most of your classmates eat at the cafeteria and Bokuto hated the thought of you eating alone so...

Waiting for Bokuto to arrive, you took your classmates' guitar and started to get familiar with it by playing simple chords and humming in to a familiar song.

"Oh, Binibini, just touch my body" kidding(2) you're singing a love song.

Getting in to it, you kind of forgot that you were in your classroom and not in your room. So the moment you heard Bokuto's energetic scream, you felt your soul try to astral project.

"Y/N! You actually play the guitar?!" Bokuto screamed as he ran towards you.

"Yes, Ko-"

"PLAY A SONG!"

"But, Ko-".

"PLAY THIS SONG! PLAY THIS SONG!"

In the end, you couldn't help but to give in, especially with how persistent Bokuto is. You started playing the chords of a familiar song.

"Sa 'yo lang ako babayo" HAHAHAHA JOKE LANG. AKOLANGBANANDIDIRISAKANTANGTO?

You couldn't see it but Bokuto is in awe with how beautiful you sang and how good you were at playing your guitar.

He falls silent as he takes the empty chair beside yours, scooting as close as he could next to you so he can hear your voice clearer.

"Ko?" You asked him when you stopped playing and yet his wide eyes are still staring at you.

The heaven knows how Bokuto was so close to switching to his emo mode when you no longer sang. But in the end, he thought of an InCrEdIbLe idea:

Now this makes you laugh as you blush with his sudden suggestion.

He insists you sing another song but you reprimanded by saying you two haven't eaten your lunches yet. He had his arguments set but in the end you won.

"When did you start playing and singing?" "Who taught you to sing and play?" "Do you love it?" "Do you have fun?"

Even when you two headed out of your room to buy yourselves some drinks, he still was asking you and giving you ridiculously cute ridiculous ideas.

"You should play during our matches next time!"

"But, Ko, that would be in the gym and it would be too loud for you to hear."

"I'll make the crowd stop cheering for me!"

Tsukishima Kei

This salty boy is a bully. Periodt.

So when he went to your place upon receiving your text and caught you strumming your guitar, instead of expressing his shock, he'd mock you instead.

"Eh? You know how to play that?"

You abruptly look at your doorstep only to see Tsukishima leaning lazily on the frame, his arms crossed.

You stopped from strumming and you placed your guitar on your side.

Now Tsukki scrunches his nose, "Why stop? Afraid to show me how bad you are?" He teases.

It's one of his strategic ways of making you do it without him having to confess that he wanted to hear more.

You rolled your eyes as you took your guitar again, willing to prove Tsukki's wordsare wrong. You strummed your guitar and started singing:

"Inisip ko kung bakit ganito ang langit, nilayo ako sa 'yo" (JEJEMON DAYS UGH) JOKE THAT'S NOT WHAT YOU'RE SINGING. YOU'RE PROLLY SINGING AN INDIE SONG OR WHAT.

Immersing yourself on your guitar as you sing, you didn't even notice how Tsukki is already on the floor, his legs crossed, head lazily leaning on his palms as he tries to look unimpressed.

He wanted to take a video so bad but he's already made an impression that he hates it and he's not letting his pride go down so he enjoys you perform instead, casually wobbling your head with the beat, finding your voice perfect with the song.

He was so into your voice he didn't even notice you already stopped, with a teasing grin in your lips as you look down on him.

Tsukki: 👁️👄👁️ (I'm sorry for excessively using this emoji I just love it, it's such a mood)

"So? How was it?" You asked.

Tsukki looks away, hiding his blushing ears, "Fine. Fine for a beginner." He said that sarcastically but you knew better.

You were about to get rid of your guitar for real this time when he stopped you.

"Play..." He said, barely audible.

"Huh?" You.

"Play it one more time," he says, fishing for his phone, "I want to record it."

You blushed. Tsukki must've noticed how you got flustered with his words 'cause he has casts this offending look in his face again.

"I'll...record how bad you are, dummy."

F - Share a snippet from one of your favorite dialogue scenes you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.

So this is a little snippet from my college au from a chapter I haven’t posted yet (or edited yet, for that matter)- I just love writing Anakin’s and Ahsoka’s friendship so much and I think this captures their dynamic well (at least I hope so!): 

The small screen of Anakin’s laptop lights up the corner of his dorm room, a scary video game compilation playing on youtube. Ahsoka makes grabby hands for Anakin’s box of Cheez-its, and he reluctantly hands her the box, keeping his eyes glued to the screen. This has become their destressing ritual; Ahsoka always jokes that there’s nothing more relaxing than being scared shitless in a dark room at two am, and Anakin kind of has to agree. He does sleep better after watching Ahsoka lose her shit giggling and screaming for an hour.

The character onscreen makes their way through a nearly pitch black house, flashlight practically useless. Anakin’s stomach is clenched, a jump scare has to be coming soon.

Then, out of nowhere:

“So, are you going to ask him out?”

Anakin’s neck almost cracks, he snaps his head towards her so quickly. “What?”

She talks around a mouth of Cheez-its. “Oh, c’mon, you and Obi-wan. You clearly like him, and it sounds like he likes you too. So,” she shakes the box and shoves more into her mouth, giving herself chipmunk cheeks “you gon’ass’im?”

Anakin snatches the box out of her hands. “Absolutely not.”

Ahsoka sighs out of her nose and finishes chewing. “Why not? No-” she holds up a hand at his shriveling look “-hear me out. You really like him, Anakin. And I know we’ve never really talked about it, but I get the sense you’ve never really had a boyfriend before, and I don’t want you to pass this by just because you’re scared.”

Anakin is quiet for a moment, absentmindedly watching the video. “It’s not just that I’m scared. Well, I am, but it’s…” he shakes his head, grappling for the right words. Ahsoka watches him, patient. “Listen, my mom doesn’t know that I’m...that I like boys. And so I’ve never had the possibility of something working out with someone before, because I’ve always lived at home. And like, what if it works out and I fall in love with him, and then I lose him?” He closes his eyes at the emotion threatening tears, his honesty unlocking little bits of himself that he had neatly tucked away. “What if I fuck it all up? And the holidays are coming up and what if he wants to meet my family and what would I tell my mom? God, what if he doesn’t even like men and I’m just pining over someone I can’t have? Besides, why would he ever want someone like me?”

Ahsoka considers this all carefully, her lower lip pushed out in thought.

Anakin, eyes still closed, feels a sharp poke on his cheek: her finger. He startles, ready to admonish her, but she beats him to it.

“You’ll never know if you don’t try.”

He looks down at the Cheez-it box. “I know, but-”

“And you deserve happiness, okay? Anakin, you deserve to be loved. I’m sorry that your mom doesn’t see eye to eye with you on this, but I’ll always love you and support you, no matter what, okay?” She reaches out and squeezes his bicep. “Go after him. You want this.”

Anakin can’t look at her, his eyes welling up in tears at her honesty, her love, her friendship. He is so lucky to have her.

She grabs the box back, takes a large handful into her mouth. “If you don’t ask him out, I’m gonna tell him about the time you farted when I cracked your back.”

He winces. “It was one time, please, let me forget.”

“Never. It smelled so bad.”

“I mean, I could probably go for one right now,” he presses on his stomach, and grins devilishly at her, “if we’re gonna talk about how bad they smell.”

Her eyebrows jump up, and so does she, racing for the door. “No, absolutely not, goodbye and goodnight, I am going home.”

“Come back, I’m kidding.” He’s laughing, deep belly laughs that are working to cleanse him of the sadness of their conversation.

She eyes him warily. “Pinky promise.”

He holds up his pinky. “Pinky promise.”

When she lifts her hand, he grabs her wrist and pulls her into his side, trapping her in a hug.

“Thank you, for, y’know...being my friend.” He mumbles into her hair while she squirms against him.

She stills. “Anytime, loser.” Her arms thread around his middle, hugging him back. He can smell the lingering Cheez-its on her breath. “I mean it, you deserve love.”

G - Do you write your story from start to finish, or do you write the scenes out of order?

Start to finish! I usually outline in detail first and then sit down and actually do the writing. The only times I’ll write in advance is if a scene is really bugging to be written or I get sudden inspiration. Otherwise I confuse myself writing out of order- keeping track of all the details in a fic is really hard 😭

N - Is there a fic you wish someone else would write (or finish) for you?

Oooh yes. There’s this living ship/pirate au that we’ve kicked around on the discord server I’m a part of and I have a vague outline out of it but I have so many other projects going on so I haven’t gotten to it! But I’m so excited for it! I love the premise so much. I wish someone else could write it out so I could just read it 😂

R - Are there any writers (fanfic or otherwise) you consider an influence?

Most definitely! I can’t name names but every fic I read I pay attention to the style and prose and definitely get inspired by it and try to work it into my own writing! Lately I’ve been trying to get better at making sure there’s enough detail in a scene so it’s not all prose and dialogue, so I’ve been paying attention to that in fics. But if I’ve ever read your fic, you’ve influenced me in some way. 

U - Share three of your favorite fic writers and why you like them so much.

This is so hard!! There are so many good writers out there!! 

Off the top of my head: 

@sonderwalker writes great sickfics and hurt/comfort, she makes me literally uwu in my heart

@shatouto has beautiful, lyrical works that i adore

has an extreme aversion to raw mushrooms for some reason. he feels nauseous just looking at them, and things get WAAAAAAY worse when someone is cooking with mushrooms and he can smell them (especially if they’re being sautéed, very much like myself kjdfhsdj)

actually really enjoys playing minecraft, he and itaru have sessions every now and then on his realm

v v shy when it comes to physical contact!! he doesn’t usually initiate any hugs or other touches, unless if he’s confident in his relationship with the other person, but if he’s hugged out of the blue by someone he’s still getting used to, it takes him a moment to respond or hug them back (but he’s gonna be a blushy mess the whole time uwuwu)

enjoys singing in his free time!! he’s actually a pretty good singer and has wanted to do musicals in the past, so he’s hoping he gets that opportunity with the spring troupe!! has a voice a little on the higher and lighter side, so a tenor role would probably suit him best ;w;

masumi

gets cold very easily, hates winter and always layers up to the extreme whenever he goes outside on chilly days

actually a very soff teddy bear on the inside and is super duper caring ;w;

pretty camera shy actually, he always turns a little red whenever he notices someone filming or taking pictures without him knowing before. he also tries to hide whenever kazu is vlogging in the dorm for his youtube channel

he absolutely LOVES music. he listens to it all the time, whenever he’s doing anything that he can focus on with it. he usually listens to rock and lo-fi beats/ambient music, but he dabbles in mainstream pop, alternative, and k-pop every now and then (but he’s too embarrassed to admit it)

gets teased and pranked by itaru all. the. time. ice water in the shower, fake poop on the toilet, scare pranks, blasting inappropriate music when he’s sleeping, basically anything you can think of skjdhfsjkdhfsd

horribly afraid of spiders!! he hates all bugs but he’s super DUPER averse to spiders bc in his own words “they don’t need that many legs”

because he has so many brothers, he’s learned how to use his people-reading skills with the other company members. he’s adjusted very well to the others’ personalities and knows exactly how to get them to comply with his requests

ADHD as ALL HELL. i mean, have u even seen the anime and/or read the stories??? my mans stayin up all night writing a SINGLE FUCKING SCRIPT. gotta be a product of hyperfocus skjfhskdjfhs

itaru

kind of has to be pushed by the other boys (esp tsuzuru bc he’s mom) to get more fruits and vegetables in his diet. he usually kind of just lives off of pizza, curry and soda

he becomes very whiny whenever he has any problems, usually mostly to annoy tsuzuru bc he’s fun to make fun of (even tho his comebacks are sharp as knives). he usually exaggerates a lot but he just does it for the lols

ticklish af lmao. he and chikage sometimes go to starbucks together after work, and chikage just fucks with him when he’s placing the order at the drive through by just reaching over and poking or tickling his side or under his armpits.

uses terms like “pog” and “based.” does video game streams as well as occasional political commentary and he often drops these terms, esp if he’s streaming with kazu

btw did y’all know that he and i share a birthday??? uwu

studies a lot of languages other than japanese, including english!! he’s particularly interested in korean, russian, and spanish. his english skills actually aren’t as good as his japanese skills tho ;n;

prefers to pay with cash over credit cards, he finds it easier to keep track of his expenses and spending that way

doesn’t really know how to handle small animals, probably bc he’s afraid of hurting or squishing them by accident!! he doesn’t really like lizards or frogs, he thinks they feel too slimy in his hands for his comfort

whenever masumi isn’t around, he’s the “designated bug-killer” (name given by itaru), even though he doesn’t really kill any of the bugs (he scoops them up in a cup and lets them back outside). sakuya, tsuzuru, and itaru all absolutely hate bugs, so he’s usually called upon for backup if masumi isn’t present to take care of them
