Ok hi, I didn't wanna say anything, but please don't write knifeplay/bloodplay for Yuri. I def don't wanna spoil anything, but it's learned on a certain route that Yuri has a s*lf h*rm problem (I'll leave it at that).
You honestly seem like you're not trying to be a jerk with this ask, so I'm going to do my best to answer this as politely as possible without compromising my personal beliefs on the matter. This is going to be long and a little serious, but please note I'm not attacking you or trying to start a debate. I'm just laying all my thoughts on this down at once so I make myself clear, because a short answer would leave a lot of nuance out.
I understand what you're trying to do here. For the record though, I also considered that a pretty massive spoiler and I did not appreciate that at all. Even if you all think you're 'helping', don't do that again. Y/uri was pretty much the only character I'd managed to avoid most spoilers on and you killed the surprise for me. This game is already so full of fluffy 'filler' in the beginning that I don't have a ton of big plot points to look forward to in each route.
Now, I realise this is a very delicate topic and incredibly triggering to some people, especially with those two things combined. I am 100% willing to tag it with just about any variation needed to ensure you or others affected can blacklist/block it and never have to see a word of it in the future. I'd also be happy to go back and tag that original text post I made if needed. I mean that. You all are welcome to ask me to tag things anytime, and so long as you're polite about it I'm perfectly willing to oblige to the best of my ability in future posts! If I occasionally forget, just toss me a light reminder and I'll jump into editing and add it in.
That said, I want to make it clear that I am very firmly against censorship. I'm willing to take all necessary precautions to ensure people can curate their experiences on this blog and AO3, but at the end of the day I can still post whatever fictional stuff I choose to. As can anyone else. Same goes for more formally published media.
Now, it's entirely possible I would have gotten to that part of the game and decided 'oh dang, I'm not so enthused about that fic idea anymore...'. My whims and ideas change frequently, and what you mentioned is a heavy topic with a lot to unpack and process. It's also entirely possible that future plot would only provide more fuel.
Fyi, when I originally mentioned the knifeplay I was actually thinking a lot more along the lines of her doing it to the protagonist, not the reverse. But for the record, if I did choose to write it with focus on Y/uri, I would still be well within my rights to.
This next part of my answer is going to address some heavy topics, this is your warning!!!
Sometimes people's kinks are a way to take a thing that is personally scary or upsetting to them and find a way to reverse it. To find pleasure or power or get used to the idea of the awful thing in a safe, controlled fashion. I'm not going to go into the full details on this because there's plenty of explanation and research elsewhere already written up, as well as an excellent book on the subject, and I'm not turning this blog into a discourse debate. But I needed to mention it for my point.
There are plenty of stories that could be explored with Y/uri in this context. Did she have this kink before the self harm events started and it was completely unrelated, or did she develop it afterwards? How did she discover it beforehand? If developed afterwards, did it start out as another way of harming mixed with pleasure in a self-destructive way, often done sloppily and without proper technique? Or was it strictly used as almost exposure therapy to deal with those urges and thoughts in a safer, more contained scenario, maybe even allowing the partner she trusted to wield the knife to prove their bond/reinforce that she can be loved without being hurt deeply, that she is worthy of affection and trust and loyalty. Maybe this finally helps give Y/uri a tool to embrace her 'weirdness' without harming herself and others. Or, what if she thinks it can be a useful tool and is sure she's ready, but partway through the scene she gets triggered or has flashbacks... how does she deal with it? How does her partner? Can it be overcome with effort, research, and taking things slowly, or does she realize this kink is actually completely off the table for her?
What if she has this kink and is excited to try it, but her partner isn't? How does she take that rejection? Or do her poor social skills mean she skipped negotiation to begin with and attempted it in the middle of a vanilla session? Would her partner freak out or even get mad, or try to swallow their fear and let her do it so they don't hurt/offend her, even at the cost of their own comfort?
This topic also opens a ton of potential plots for darkfic, but I'll refrain from discussing that out of respect for you and others.
So as you can see, there's much more to explore than 'Knife=Hot'. I believe those discussions and ideas are necessary and provide important fuel for thought when explored fictionally, especially since mainstream media doesn't cover a lot of them.
~~~
I feel I should take a second to clarify knifeplay for those who may be unaware. It doesn't always equate to actual cutting/drawing blood. That can be an aspect, but usually only by those far more experienced and, you know, actually into that. A lot of participants don't actually go that far. Mostly, it's either about the physical sensation of the knife touching you at all, or the adrenaline/controlled fear and intimate trust of a partner bringing an object like that so close/teasing you with it.
In fact, it's frequently advised in those circles (especially to newcomers) to use a dull butterknife instead, because it simulates the same feelings of metal on skin/can dig in a little without any real risk of cutting/drawing blood. Even if one chooses to use a different knife, it's still pretty common to dull the blade, or some people even substitute with a closed pair of scissors (combined with the partner blindfolded, you can't really tell it apart from the real thing).
These versions of knifeplay are well controlled and ultimately pretty harmless, so long as both parties know what they're doing and stay alert. And more experienced players with sharper knives are even more cautious/have studied extensively to know where/how deep to go without risking scarring/serious injury.
Remember the golden rules of kink: Safe. Sane. Consensual.
With those in place, it is not nearly the same as self harm. Just as controlled, consensual, well-negotiated BDSM with safewords, respected boundaries and a trusted partner is never in the same league as abuse.
~~~
Now that that's out of the way, back to my point:
There's no perfect representation or narrative for everyone, in any group (be that gender/sexuality/triggered by certain things, etc). Every human being is different, everyone interprets media differently, and everyone takes away different elements from stories.
What one person in a particular group may find cathartic, relateable, or painful but necessary food for thought, another may find completely repulsive, personally hurtful, offensive, something they can't stand to hear. And guess what? Both of those can be true at the same time. One side is not immediately right over the other.
There are queer characters or interpretations of them in fics that I vehemently despise, might even find hurtful or sickening and think 'how can anyone create this, it's insufferable! People in 'my group' aren't like that, it's a horrible representation. I can't relate to it at all!' But you know what? Other people can and do, may find comfort in those exact narratives and experiences, may heal their pain instead of inflicting more. And that's great. It's what they needed or wanted and if I don't like it, I click away and do my best to avoid it.
There are specific tropes and narrative themes I personally cannot get through without being triggered into anxiety attacks or dragged back to bad times and places in my life. Sometimes I see them tackled in ways that are hurtful or seem insensitive to me. But I recognise that for someone else, it's exactly what they needed to see to get through that or come to terms with it, or see a way they wish that thing could play out. I would never dream of telling those people they aren't allowed to enjoy it, OR telling the creator of that piece of media or a tv show 'Hey ummm please don't use this plot because it turns me into a human wreck for a week'. Because it's not remotely my place to do so. They can create whatever they want, they have no responsibility towards me or my well being. A few might be kind enough to include a warning at the beginning of that episode or in the description, but they are in no way required to. It's up to me to curate my experience and try to keep my guard up/research what might have those tropes, and in the rare occasions I get blindsided, yeah, it hurts like hell. I struggle, I might even backslide a bit. But I just have to try my best to deal with it and make a note to be more careful next time. Because you can't control the world around you, not even the online world, and you have absolutely no right to. The only right you have is to protect yourself without infringing on other people's boundaries/rights.
And there's also another important point. There doesn't have to be a big important point or explanation for why a creator creates something, or why consumers can enjoy that creation! If someone wants to create a plotline with all of my triggers used in the most 'insensitive', 'wrong', pointless ways possible, strictly for Entertainment or pure kink material instead of some deep dissection of the issues involved? They can go hog wild!!! They are 100% allowed to do so on this earth, and I can't (and wouldn't want to) do a thing to stop them.
One person can read a kink fic and it hits a very emotional theme for them/they think it explores a deep topic well. Another person can read that same fic and get nothing out of it except their rocks off. Both of those readers are completely equal and 'allowed' to enjoy that fic. Both reasons are completely valid reasons for why the creator was 'allowed' to post/create that fic in the first place. Nobody needs permission, nobody has to answer to anybody except themselves. Period. This extends to any topic, any type of fic.
Yes, even for things I find absolutely abhorrent and insensitive and don't understand/want to read ever. I may resent everything about its existence, but I will defend to death the creator's right to make it exist in the first place.
It only affects me if I let it affect me. If someone's making content I despise or am upset by and can't handle, I can choose to ignore or avoid them, blacklist those tags, I can block them and move on with my day. I can do anything within my own bubble, but the second I consider going into their bubble and saying they can't make that thing, I am in the wrong. Because I'm not respecting their space and rights.
If someone makes cookies with ingredients I'm highly allergic to, pastes the ingredient warnings all over the box where I read them, and I still eat one, would anyone cheer me on for blaming them when I have a reaction? Would anyone think it was remotely okay of me to start calling up every bakery in town and saying they weren't allowed to bake those cookies EVER, because some people somewhere might be allergic?
No. They'd tell me I was crossing the line, because I'm infringing on other people's boundaries and lives. I'm expecting everybody else to take responsibility for something that, while horrible and painful, was my fault for touching.
Now, if someone sets out unlabelled cookies not realizing I'm allergic to something in them, and I eat it and have a reaction, that sucks. It's an awful experience. But is it the baker's fault? As long as they didn't do it maliciously, not really. They can be advised politely to label it in the future, and I can do my best to remember to ask/be more cautious next time I come across something I'm unsure of, but they're still allowed to bake those cookies for themselves and others.
Now, if I deliberately baked cookies with an ingredient that people are very frequently allergic to (ex. peanuts) and set it out in a crowded buffet without a warning label, that's a jerk move. That's intentionally trying to cause harm to others. But simply baking that flavour of cookies still isn't a crime or harmful by itself.
~~~
I'll be honest, I'm running out of steam and I think I've said most of what I have to say, so I'll wrap it up. I want to reiterate that I'm not ripping into you with this long answer, anon! I understand why you sent me what you did and I'm trying not to come off as harsh. I'm happy to go back and tag things and will tag anything else similar in the future!!! But at the end of the day, regardless of whether I personally end up writing that fic or not, or even want to after I get to that plot, I don't agree with telling anyone they can't/shouldn't write it at all. I wanted to try and explain my viewpoint thoroughly, and I hope you can respect that, just as I'll respect and try to accommodate you and other followers. This is the only time I'll really get up on a soapbox like this, and I have no interest in debating these things on my blog further, but it is a topic I've been passionate about all my life so I'm afraid I'm not budging on it.
Hi! Do you have any recommendations for yuri (anime,manga,comics anything!) with sexual scenes in it??? Also do you know any good places to read yuri manga/comics?Tysm!!💖💖💖
This is hard I am incredibly horrible at making recommendations. I usually just let Erin @yuri-caps handle recommendations. But I will do my best!!
For anime, stuff with good quality sexual scenes in it is… ummm. To be honest there is not really much. At least not much that I would recommend, but if you really want you can try Kuttsukiboshi, Valkyrie Drive, or Netsuzou Trap. I do not like any of those but they are the most sexual.
Tumblr media
Some I personally enjoyed more and are sexual (but not as much as those previously mentioned) are Citrus (which is extremely controversial for many people. Some like it some hate it) and Yuri Kuma Arashi, which is fantastic but somewhat out there in terms of symbolism and complexity.
Tumblr media
Moving on from anime to manga…
I have written reviews for a few more sexual stories that I strongly recommend. I will link to the reviews and where you can get the books below:After Hours Review; Amazon: https://amzn.to/2ZqWemuEve and Eve Review; Amazon: https://amzn.to/2RmUUy6
Tumblr media
For some more good ones that I have not reviewed:Girl Friends; Amazon: https://amzn.to/2Fh5xxK
Tumblr media
Pulse; Lezhin Lily Love; LezhinWhat Does the Fox Say; TappyToonWant to sell me your body; Renta!South Pacific Girlfriend; Renta!
Tumblr media
Visual Novels:Kindred Spirits on the Roof (must play, 10/10)
Tumblr media
Highway BlossomsHeart of the Woods (I reviewed on Okazu and gave 9/10)Love Ribbon (warning. Incest)
Those are what come to mind. As far as where to read manga I cannot urge you enough to PLEASE READ YURI LEGALLY. Support creators and publishers, which allows them to make and adapt more Yuri manga. Personally, I like to buy mine in print but ebook editions also work. There are also a number of digital manga sites that have Yuri such as Renta!, Lezhin, and my personal favorite, Lilyka (who specialize in only Yuri and focus on independent works). I included links that Tumblr would not object to (ie Amazon) for any works available there but for the rest, you are going to have to search for yourself!! Good luck and if you really need help finding something send me a message.
I hope there is something here that interests you!!
2017 fic writing round up
Found this survey on dreamwidth and I wanted to fill it out. :3 It’s basically my thoughts on the fics I’ve written throughout 2017. It’s long so I post it under a cut. <3 Please feel free to fill it out if you’re interested! I’d love to hear your own thoughts! Blank survey can be found here
Total year-long word count: Ummm probably around 40k. I don’t write many long things. That’s only counting finished fics tho. Idk how many words i’ve got of WIP haha.
Word count by fandom: Dude it’s all Yuri on ice lol. everything is Yuri on Ice.  Fics completed: Probably about...18-20 I wanna say? 13 or 14 of them are on AO3, and then the rest are posted on my tumblr.
Works-in-progress: We do not talk about that lol. I’ve got too many.
This year I wrote and posted: a lot more than I thought I would.
Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted? A lot more. I’ve always enjoyed writing but I always struggled to post what I wrote because I wasn’t very confident. I always felt like my ideas were dumb and overused, so I never wrote fic for my old fandom which was much larger bc someone probably already did my similar ideas but 10000x better. When I got into Yuri on Ice, all of my ships were rare so I had no choice but to write and post my own.
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January? Milabek!!
What's your own favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest? Hmmmmm idk. To be honest, all of my fics make me very happy. Not because they are good, bc they aren’t really, they’re just self-indulgent shit I write to make myself feel better, but each of my fics comes from a very personal place. Writing is how I cope with events in my life, esp past trauma, and writing the kinds of fic I write is just a very soothing process for me? Idk, it’s weird lol.
Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them? My biggest risk was actually writing and posting stuff. I’m so happy people seem to enjoy my stuff, esp because I don’t have any confidence in it.
Your best story of this year: uhhh idk.
Your most popular story of this year: Sharks! It’s a yuriyuu story where Yuri is transgender and comes out to Yuuri, although it didn’t go as planned. (Don’t worry, it’s a happy ending and there’s no transphobia in it!)
Story of yours most under-appreciated by the universe, in your opinion: Pretty Boy. It’s a vikturio story which also features trans Yuri. Basically Yuri misses wearing girly things, like skirts and lingerie and lipstick, but he gave up those things so people would take him seriously as a guy. But like, Viktor doesn’t want to see Yuri deprive himself of things that make him happy for the sake of social expectation, so he introduces Yuri to the concept of crossdressing lol. I mean I can understand why it’s not very popular, considering trans male crossdressing is a huuuuuge taboo and a no-no for most ppl, but it’s a topic I hold very dear to my heart for personal reasons and I wish more people would give it a chance lol. In case anyone has sex triggers tho, there’s 2 scenes with extremely mild non-explicit sex. Like you can tell they had sex but I wrote none of it lol. It’s very fade to black. I have a severe sex trigger so I’m warning in case anyone else is sensitive to sex.
Most fun story to write: Birds of Paradise! Definitely Birds of Paradise hands down. It’s a silly little story where Georgi finds out Yuri has a massive crush on Yuuri and gives him shitty unsolicited love advice.
Story with the single sexiest moment: Definitely the bloodplay scenes in Red. That is all I will say about that lol. Though I also found the scenes in Pretty Boy where Viktor makes Yuri stand in the corner so he can admire how pretty and gorgeous he looks to be really sexy. Yeah uh, i’ll just see myself out lol.
Most "Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story: I don’t consider it wrong because it was consensual kink that people actually engage in, but for people who are unfamiliar with sadomasochism, I think Red might get this reaction from people. It’s a sadomasochistic knifeplay yuriyuu fic I wrote which also features bloodplay. I also pretty much only write fluff or hurt/comfort, so I guess me writing a sexless hardcore kink fic is a bit shocking lol. The aftercare scenes are extremely fluffy tho! :D
Story that shifted your own perceptions of the characters: Hard to say since I usually don’t write a fic unless i’m deep into that particular headcanon lol. I guess Birds of Paradise because I didn’t realize how much I loved Georgi being a supportive idiot until I actually wrote it lol.
Hardest story to write: Not one I’ve published. Hardest story i’ve starting writing is this very personal fic that is very similar to the trauma I went through in my childhood. I don’t know if i’ll ever finish it, I doubt I’ll ever publish it, but I feel it’s a story I need to write. I don’t even want to say which ship it is because even that feels like revealing too much.
Biggest disappointment: Nothing really. I post my fic with zero expectations that anyone will read or enjoy it lol.
Biggest surprise: Sharks got translated into Portuguese!!!
Most unintentionally telling story: I’m sorry I don’t understand this question lol.
Favorite opening line(s): “Sometimes for Yuri, life is loud. Sometimes it’s nothing more than a cacophony of dirty memories etched into his skin, violent thoughts on infinite repeat, adrenaline that turns into outward aggression at every person, intentions be damned. Sometimes, most of the time, that’s all he feels life is.” (from Reprieve)
Favorite closing line(s): Listen, I went through all of my fics on AO3 searching for my fave closing line and my fave closing line is also from Reprieve lol. “Safety is not a luxury Yuri could afford. Safety is conditional, safety is a reward. Perform well enough and you can escape the looming danger for a little bit. But in Yuuri, Yuri finds reprieve. And for that, he’s thankful.”
Favorite 5 line(s) from anywhere:
  “Is this...guilt tea because you feel guilty?” (from Guilty),
“Grab a spoon and help me finish the ice cream before it turns into soup. I don’t care what anyone says, it’s good and healthy to eat your feelings worth in ice cream.” (from Heroes)
 “Perhaps maybe, home is less of a physical place and more of a slow culmination of warm, fond feelings.” (from unfinished vikturio wip)
“Really, Viktor doesn’t know anything about him either. I saw the bruise on your shoulder. But somehow, he already knows too much.” (also from the same vikturio wip), “
 “You're a masochist, you like pain. Pretend this is a scene or something.” (From Red. And yes I know that quote makes no sense out of context, but the context is that Yuuri is cleaning Yuri’s wounds from their scene and Yuri is bitching that the anti-septic stings lol)
Top 5 scenes from anywhere you would choose to have illustrated:
Yuuri bathing and bandaging Yuri in Red
The knifeplay scenes also from Red lol.
Yuri and Viktor sharing pocky together during Kiss and Steal
a scene from my dark forbidden fic i’m still too embarrassed to finish writing or even post LOL.
The scene from Slowly where Yuri and Yuuri fall asleep on the couch together by mistake, so Viktor just comes over and cuddles with the both of them while they’re sleeping. (It’s a viktuurio fic, so if you like viktuurio and getting together fics, please check it out! <3)
Fic-writing goals for next year: Just to keep writing more fic. :D Maybe work on my self-esteem a little bit heheh...
writing tag
tagged by the wonderful @aftgonice , thank you! <3
Rules: Answer the questions for your work. You can use different fics, and even WIPs. Don’t hesitate to link your stuff for the curious ones :) And tag writer friends to play along!
1/ Which scene/paragraph/sentence are you the most proud of?
Hmm. I really like this one part of a Drarry fic I haven’t ever gotten around to publishing. I wrote it about a year ago and it’s short and kinda awkward, but I like it. Here :
“The mid-morning was busy, Ministry workers buzzing past them and chattering loudly, shoes clapping on the pale marble floor. Harry had always hated how overwhelming the entrance hall was, too bright and traffic-y. And going by the look on Malfoy’s face, he didn’t like it either. Harry was curious to know if this place reminded him of the war and what had happened afterwards, with the trials and all that crap. He wondered if he’d been assigned to wear work-robes like everyone else, and whether him wearing jeans that had tears in the knees was just a way to say Fuck you.”
2/ For which work/piece of work do you get comments telling how marvelous it is, while you’re not that enthralled by that piece yourself?
I was really surprised that fingers crossed my obsession with you is tameable has become my ummm most famous fic? Idk if you can call it that but it’s got a lot more comments than my other stuff. When I wrote it i was still very new to the fandom and knew v v little about anything. I’m glad that people like it and I’m quite proud of it myself too, but there are other stories I’ve spent writing 5 times longer than that one, like the two fics I wrote for Otayuri Reversebang. I spent sooo much time making my characters believable, plot interesting etc. and yet they’re not that popular. Hell, I even have 20 pages of unused material for both of those fics because I made several different endings and tried to find the perfect one. But then again, maybe overworking them shows or smth? Anyway. I’ve only published stuff I like tbh so I don’t really know how to anwer this question :)
3/ Which character highjacked the story they’re in?
Well, right now I writing the second chapter for my heart’s a stereo  and I’m trying to chill a bit because it’s got too much on Yuri’s small crush on Yuuri, and the fic is supposed to be about Yuri and Otabek, not how wonderful Yuuri is (in Yuri’s opinion). I already have a oneshot in mind about Yuuri and Viktor (and Chris), happening at the same time as the main story. Yuuri is my sunshine boy and wins my heart, but I’m trying my best to focus on Otayuri on this one.
4/ Which sentence/kind of sentence do you overuse?
Yikes. My language skills in English are very limited so there are lots of things I don’t know how else to describe so I’ll probably end up repeating myself? “Despite the fact that” is a good example of that. I’m trying my best to learn by reading a lot and googling things but I’m very insecure about using new phrases in case I’m using them wrong lol. But, I accept that English is not my first language and that the only way to learn is to write and read more, so. Also, feel free to tell me when there’s something funny going on in one of my fics? Because so far most of my stuff is unbetaed (bc I don’t want to bother anyone shh).
5/ Which work of yours would you be dying to get fanart for?
Oh, definitely either we go alive in a heartbeat or i’ll be there, rain or shine. They’re both sweet and innocent oneshots and they are my babies. But I’d be over the moon to receive fanart about any fic! :))
6/ Which work would you rather forget?
Anything written before 2016. And I can’t quite read my first YoI fic without cringing because it was also one of the first fics I’d written in English and the first time I wrote smut. BUT I am incredibly happy that I wrote it because I don’t think I’d be writing anything now if I hadn’t had the courage to write (and post!) it back then.
7/ Do you have a project you never got the nerves/guts to write?
YES. I think about heavy angst headcanons daily, but I will never ever have the guts to write any of those ideas down. I think my characters in those are very OC and no one would ever ever buy a fic where, say, a person from YoI is cheating on their soulmate or whatever. Also the ideas include lots of things I would probably like to read about but maybe not write myself? Cutting, depression and eating disorders and things like that. Angst just for the sake of angst in general is too heavy for me to write. But I’ve got so sooo many sad headcanons that I sort of hope that I could write them lol.
8/ For which fandom have you written the most? (can be original fic, say if you count in terms of words, chapters or fics)
Yuri on ice. I’ve published 12 YoI fics, and I have about four serious wips waiting for my motivation to return, plus a dozen ideas I haven’t written down/have only written a rough draft.
I’ve published two Drarry fics (well, actually one since the other one is made by me and my gf together), but I have L O T S of wips from that ship too. I have two or three stories that have 3000-7000 words to but I just haven’t gotten around to finishing them.
I’ve written a few Johnlock oneshots as well but I haven’t published any in ao3.
Fanfiction Author Interview
Tagged by @galaxystiel - thank you <3
1. What inspires your work most? (The show it is based on, the actor who portrays a certain character, maybe the character itself…? It could even be an experience.)
Usually, inspiration starts from being obsessed with a fandom. I tend to write what I’m passionate about, so I have to be into a specific show/book/movie to want to write about it. Generally, I am inspired to write because there is a particular ship within the fandom that speaks to me because I am a sucker for relationship plotlines. I am also inspired by experiences or songs or things that happen irl.
2. What is your favorite fandom to write for?
I mostly write for Supernatural, but I’ve also written for Yuri on Ice and Harry Potter.
3. Which perspective do you prefer writing in? (First-person, third-person)
It depends on the fic and the idea. I usually write in the third person.  4. Do you prefer writing reader fics or OCs?
Ummm, I guess it depends? In my opinion, reader insert fics are kind of like creating an OC in a way as it is? I’ve written both. But honestly I mostly stick to canon characters when I write for fandom and if there are any OCs they are side characters.
5. Do you prefer writing longer works or one shots?
Both. I have written several one shots, but I also have several long fics in my WIP folder (including an 80k+ destiel Sherlock AU that will probably never see the light of day much to @galaxystiel ‘s chagrin). The one shots are certainly more likely to get published lol.
6. Do you take requests?
I have in the past, but I’m too busy right now to finish my own ideas let alone requests.
7. Do you enjoy getting random Asks?
Sure!
8. What inspires the names for OCs (or extra character names) in your works? Do you pick them from real life or just select them at random? A mix?
There’s usually some logic behind the name I pick. I’m big into what names mean or how they sound.
9. If your story(ies) have OCs, are their appearances based on real people or celebrities? If so, who?
No, not really. They might have characteristics of people I know because it’s easier to write what you know, but they aren’t largely based on people that exist irl.
10. How long have you been writing fanfiction?
A long, long time. I started writing fanfiction before I even knew what fanfiction was - I have journals and journals full of Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings fanfic from when I was a kid. Once I discovered the world of fanfic on the internet, it snowballed from there.
Eight for eight tag
:Rules: Answer eight questions and tag eight people.
I was tagged by @liderfin
I'm actually surprised to have gotten tagged for things recently, it pretty much never happens actually.
Anyway, I'm really terrible at these kinds of questions, but I'm going to do my best to answer anyway. ^_^;)
▪️Last movie I watched: I don't know the last movie I watched at home but the last thing I saw in theaters was Star Wars: Rogue One. I actually only go to the movie theatre about once a year, they're just so expensive in Japan I can never really justify it. Also the fact that a lot of movies get here about 3 months after everyone else doesn't help. I can usually buy it off iTunes before it's even in the theatre here, and it would cost about the same.
▪️Last song I listened to: Ummm... not sure. I have several different playlists I've been switching between recently but I think it was probably something from my writing playlist. Best guess is something off the Skyrim soundtrack. I prefer ambient and low-key instrumental music when I write because anything else ends up being distracting.
▪️Last book I read: I haven't been reading books much recently, I'm pretty stuck on reading way too much fan fiction of late, but hey, a lot of it is at least as good as anything published so I refused to be ashamed of my reading choices. However, when I do read offline I'm currently reading Powerborn: The Zarryiostrom book 1. It's interesting so far but I'm still at the beginning so I'll have to see how it goes.
▪️Last thing I ate: So I think it was labeled a "cod roe, chicken, avocado, and salad on rice". It's a cold dish and really tasty. It's actually one of my favorite things from one of my favorite shops by my station. It was that or the salad bento I got at the same place, but I'm saving that for lunch tomorrow.
▪️Where would you want to time travel to?: Well, I can't say I've every had a great urge to time travel, but I guess the future, I'm curious to see if the world is ever going to get it's act together.
▪️Fictional character I would hang out with for a day: Only a day? Probably none, it I knew I was only getting a day it would make me too sad. That being said, I think Varric would be a lot of fun to hang out with, that would probably be a good day.
▪️If I could be anywhere right now, where would I be? To many places to choose. I really wish I could afford to travel more. I kind of regret having spent money to go back to my home town last year instead of taking a vacation by myself. Some of the destination at the top of my list are Bali, Okinawa, Germany (to see one of my best friends that I haven't seen in 7 years), or Barcelona (because it's just such a beautiful city. There are a million other places I'd be happy to go as well, I'm sure.
▪️Current fandom obsession? Yuri on Ice. Seriously, I have it bad. I've spent so much money on this fandom so far. That I live in Japan just makes it that much easier to go crazy. Seriously, you don't even want to know what's in the ever growing mountain of goods I have. ^^;;
Hope any of that was even a little interesting.
I'm not sure who to tag in this, but if you haven't done it yet and want to, please do and tag me so I can read it!
