There are three kinds of people at my home right now babbling about coronavirus:

1. My Ajji (grandma)- who is in a very panicky state currently because she believes everything that comes on WhatsApp.

2. Me- who is all calm, reading scientific facts and meanwhile, going on like a trumpet around the house with her BBC headlines.

3. Others- tired of both of us, just head out to loot the supermarket.

Honestly, I am the most death conscious person at home. I know my days are numbered, all of our days are numbered and I’m absolutely okay with it. Now the thing is, you’ve to make the most of it. I believe in leaving a mark and I want to be remembered. But somehow, in this race of being a topper or being the best version of yourself that people want you to be, you kind of tend to forget what your vision was. You feel lost at times and you want your own space and time.

Well now, we do have time. Some of us are staying put, while there’s another half preparing for board exams and going to work. I mean exams and work is already a tremendous amount of pressure and now there’s a virus on the loose. Bless you all, you’re doing a great job and be safe.

Now the ones who have holidays and are just tired of selecting a show/movie on Netflix or Prime, there’s so much more we can do. For starters, if your room is all messy you could just clean it up. You can meditate, prepare for competitive exams, read books, write a book, make new songs, paint/draw/sketch, doodle, start an online rally on issues, etc. And there’s some adventurous stuff you could do like sleighing down the staircase on a mattress which is fun but, at your own risk only. Just do something that is productive or something you always wanted to do. You wish to propose someone? Do it. Wish to write a book? Start writing one. Wish to record a song you wrote? Go ahead, we will sing with you too. Wish to say sorry to someone? Say it. Wish to cook Biryani? Go on. Be safe and do what you like to do, even if it’s eating Iddli with ketchup, which I don’t think it is a bad combination either.

And you don’t know that the person at the other end of the phone or the one sitting in front of you will be there tomorrow. Burn all your old feuds, remove the toxic people, tell your loved ones how much they mean to you. Even if you’re not A+ at something you always wanted to do, just go for it. That is precisely how new art is born. I mean J.K. Rowling did not know her books would be this hit. People can be mean now, but when you stand up and be true to yourself, that’ll make you huge and most importantly you’ll be satisfied and happy.

As for our country, India. It’s so funny, I mean some time ago people were out there on the streets, rioting, determined to kill each other and now COVID-19 comes out and everyone just disappears. Even all over the world. We must not forget that we are all one, no matter where we stand or what are views are and we all bow down before nature.
