Hi so I was the one who sent the ask about taking requests and if you're interested here's my ask: Ok so you know how donnie disguises himself to go tech club with the purple dragons? So how about one where mikey disguises himself too so he can go to art class since he loves art. And one day he comes back to the lair looking down and all his brothers notice. He tells them that he's being picked on in class because of his art by an obnoxious classmate. And after he does so his bros look ready to throw down, with raph punching a training dummy straight in half, donnie trying to air-strike the kids house and leo ominously sharpening his swords. Just an idea I'd love to see but please don't rush if you decide to do it.

When Mikey goes up to Donnie and asks him about signing up for an art class, Donnie hesitates.

"It didn't really work out for me," Don shrugs in a monotone voice, "they're now my sworn enemies." And it's true when he did disguise himself to appeal to the humans and get into some tech club, he now cringes; the Purple Dragons turned out to be evil. So maybe it was just shit luck on his end.

"Okay, but Dee," Mikey starts, "you don't understand, I want to grow as an artist, and I feel limited with my art skills without a teacher."

And Donnie wants to tell him that his art is perfectly fine, but as someone who's into tech, he wishes he could blab about it with someone who understands – like the Purple Dragons, he thinks to himself, and maybe even learn more. But, of course, he's already good at his skill, but another opinion wouldn't be so bad. So, he gets Mikey in a way.

Maybe April can help with this, sign up for the class under her name, and he'd disguise himself.

"Okay, I'll talk to April and see what we can do."

"Ohmigosh, thanks, Dee!" Mikey goes into a hug, but Donnie doesn't hug back; he just gives him a faltered smile.

With Donnie and April's help, they manage to get Mikey into this class in her high school. April said something about how she's supposed to take art for credit but didn't actually want to, so she's happy that Mike can take it for her.

But of course, Mike has to disguise himself. He's wearing his signature orange hoodie and has the hood over his head. In addition, he has these neon green joggers and red crocs; they're Raph's and fit a little too big for him, but he has them in sports mode, and they don't look too bad on him. He's also wearing a neon orange mask like the other kids have to wear during class; thanks to Rona, he has a clip holding it back since he technically has no ears. But he's happy they have to wear masks, so he can hide from the other kids.

 He sits in the back of the class and limits himself from talking. He came to learn, not socialize. As much as he'd love to, he reminds himself he's not human, and they're not like April. The kids will freak out if they found out.

But he's slowly accepted in the class; despite being the "quiet kid," his art is excellent, and his teacher, Ms. Estrada, always puts up the kids' artwork one by one to talk and critique it.

Mike comes to find out that he does more graffiti-style street art. It's never criticized and quite accepted by Estrada. He feels more confident in his work.

"How was your class, Miguel," Leo asks behind a comic book, looking over at him.

"Good," Mike answers, pulling down his mask, "Ms. Estrada likes my style!"

"Sounds good, Hermano," Leo looks away and goes back to reading, and Mike sits next to him, having a bunch of stories to tell him in the 40-minute class.

Leo beams, setting his comic book down to listen to his brother's ramble.

Coming home from class, Mike usually has all this pent-up energy. His brothers know him very well, so when he comes home, his hand is on the opposite shoulder and sagging. Raph instantly knows something wrong.

"Hey, Mikey." Raph greets his brother, but Mikey faces away from him.

"Hi." Comes the quiet voice.

Raph looks over to Leo and makes eye contact with him, eyes shifting to Mike's. Leo instantly gets up from the couch and joins him. Donnie stays behind and, on his phone, but he's there and listening.

"Hey, what's wrong?" Raph's voice is soft and in big brother mode. He bends his knees to look at Mikey better.

Mike's heart is on his sleeve; no matter how hard he tries to hide his feelings, it always bleeds through. He's kind of ashamed; he thought he could handle this himself.

"I think a kid is being rude to me." He wants to say bullying, but it sounds so cliché.

Donnie stops and looks up from his phone.

"Who's being rude to you?" He asks before Raph and Leo can.

"I – I don't know, really. I think this kid is, but he doesn't say anything to me. When Estrada shows my artwork, he's pointing and laughing at it." Mike still won't make eye contact, and he feels the tension in the air. But he continues, "at first, I thought he was laughing with me, so I'd chuckle too, but then he'd stop. After a few times of showing my artwork, I realized he's making fun of my art, and maybe… maybe me?" He shrugs half-heartedly. He feels the tears threatening to spill, but he's holding it back, but he can't control his voice wavering.

"Mikey, hey…" Raph puts a hand on his shoulder and looks ready to say something. Leo beats him to the punch.

"Why don't we go and teach this kid a lesson?" Leo says dramatically, punching his fist on his palm.

"Leo." Raph threatens, "he's like 14; we can't just beat him up."

"No, no," Donnie interrupts, "I agree with Leon. Violence is the answer."

"Donnie," he hisses, but he wants to teach this kid not to mess with their brother.

"Guys, guys. It's okay." Mike wipes off a tear, "this is just…new to me."

"It shouldn't even be happening to you," Raph tells him, and Donnie's wielding his tech bo glaringly with a chainsaw sticking out.

"Donnie." Raph threatens again.

Donnie turns off the chainsaw, but he still has his bo in his hands. "Look, this punk kid will continue unless we do something."

"I think I have an idea," Leo says, a smile on his face.

Raph's not sure what his idea is and doesn't want to know. All he knows is that the next day, the three of them focused solely on Mike's bully.

Raph throws a hard punch at the dummy in the dojo. It swings, creaking under momentum, and comes back to him. He punches again, and this time, the dummy falls to the ground with a broken chain.

"Cool it, Hermano," Leo tells him, sharpening his Odachi; the smell of honing oil is strong, and Raph picks up the discarded dummy.

"Sorry," Raph says half-heartedly, he tries to put the chain back on, but it's broken. He sighs, frustration wrinkled on his forehead.

Leo lifts his Odachi from the whetstone, looking over to Raph. "Donnie can fix that," he tells him, "But you losing your cool can't."

Raph nods heavily; he hates seeing Mikey upset. He'd rather try and lift a school bus than see his brother sad. When Raph was appointed leader, he told himself he'd protect his brothers, but this? A grade B bully? They all are wearing their disguises, it only being 10 in the morning, Mike’s class is starting soon.

Mikey enters the dojo and sees the fallen dummy and Leo sharpening his Odachi. "You guys…" He pleads quietly, tired and over it, "you don't have to."

"Oh, sweet child," Leo looks over glaringly, "but we will."

Mikey sometimes is thankful for his brothers; it may be meddling, maybe a little petty, for the younger one to bring his big brothers to rescue him. But he's thankful. Donnie comes out of nowhere, mumbling and typing on his sleeve, asking for the kid's name to target him. Mike can barely hear what Donnie's saying, but he knows he heard something about an airstrike and laughs.

Mikey looks over at them and smiles. He knows his brothers have his back.

The poor kid doesn't even know what's coming.

The orange peel theory

You saw this trend on TikTok, and now you must try it with your boyfriend. Would they pass the test?

General verses / sfw / ninja guys are late 20's

"Honey, I was wondering if you could help me peel this orange," you say before sitting next to him on the couch. His favorite show was about to start.

Leo looked at the orange, then at you, before taking it with a sweet smile. "Gladly."

This man never misses an opportunity to impress you.

Leo peeled a fragment with the sharp end of his katana, then removed it entirely with precise movements. He stole a few glances at you, wearing a flirty smile.

"Thank you, Leo."

He grins. "It's always an honor to help you."

"Babe, are you busy?"

Raphael turned, his eyes lighting up at the sight of you.

"I was just about to go on patrol. Why?"

"Would you mind helping me peel this orange?"

He tilted his head. You weren't one to ask for help with trivial stuff. Yet, Raphael shrugged, minding the way your eyes seemed to sparkle. It brought a smile to his face.

"Sure! Pass it over."

Raph peeled the orange, mindful not to bruise it as you admired the strength in his hands and his clumsy attempt at gentleness.

"Here you go."

It looked ridiculously tiny in his hand. You giggled. "Thanks, babe."

"Thanks?" Raph leaned over the wall, trapping you between his plastron and the bricks. "A kiss is the price to pay," he teased.

"Hey, love, I was wondering if you'd help me peel my orange?"

Donatello tuned to you, adjusting his glasses over his nose. "Of course, I'd be happy to assist," he gave you a sweet smile before cleaning up his hands.

"Would you like the orange peeled only, or do you want it sliced into wedges? I can put it on a plate— I think we have some little toothpicks around here; they'll help you eat it more comfortably," He said, moving through the place.

You weren't sure if he was talking to you or thinking out loud, but it mattered not. He definitely passed the vibe check. You were with the right man and couldn't be happier.

"Mikey baby, would you help me peel this?" you said, handing him the orange.

He was thrilled anytime you made him feel needed.

"Sure thing, angel. Watch and learn from the master of orange-peeling!" he said in an attempt to show off.

He's probably waving unexisting brows.

You sighed in that endearing way that only surfaced when he was around. Mikey eagerly peeled the orange and then bowed to present it to you.

"Thank you, mister."

"Anything for my baby!"

He'll be happy if you ask to eat it together.

I think about Leo’s “I’m your least favorite” comment to Splinter in “Down with the Sickness” a lot. It’s likely just a throwaway comment, a way to get Splinter to leave him alone before Leo gets sick too, but I can’t help but wonder if Leo believes it on some level.

Obviously it’s not true, Splinter loves him as much as he loves the others, but…it wouldn’t be shocking if Leo believed otherwise. After all, just in “Many Unhappy Returns” alone, Splinter has, with no hesitation, said comments like “my other sons would have taken this seriously” and “I knew I should’ve brought purple”, said “no” to Leo’s “I love you”, and pretty blatantly didn’t extend any trust in Leo’s plan even after Leo was fairly effortlessly defeating their opponents.

It was only after, when they’d already won, that Splinter finally gives him a “it was all you my son!” And…that’s basically it. Raph is the one who announces his trust in Leo. Not their father, even though Splinter is the one to witness Leo lowering his walls for once (which Splinter doesn’t react well too, because Leo only lowers his walls in the most hectic of times, and because he lowers them only then, either no one is around or no one is in the right state of mind to respond properly, leading to Leo building his walls back up, and the cycle continues.)

Again, it’s not because Splinter doesn’t love Leo, but Leo…can’t be feeling too good about all that. The way he never reacted surprised about any of Splinter’s words too…

He may know that Splinter loves them all, as a group, but individually…I don’t think Leo believes he ranks all that high with that love. Gives another meaning to “I’m nothing without my brothers” huh?

(Of course, I’m willing to bet the invasion changed that understanding, but with that comes the potential misunderstanding that his father’s outright love is tied to Leo sacrificing himself.)

Day 24 of TMayNT: Favorite turtle + villain dynamic

I chose Hypno-potamus from Rise of the TMNT for this prompt :]

I love his character development and how he seems to grow a soft spot for the turtles.

These sketches are redrawn from screenshots except for the doodles of rabbits, doves etc :]

(Note: I chose to draw Hypno in a top hat rather than a turban because one of the writers who worked on the show said that Hypno was not wearing the turban for religious reasons. It was part of his costume. Also, Hypno’s canon design, especially as a human, has similarities to harmful stereotypes of Romani people—so a few of Hypno’s fans on here including me like to depict Hypno with a top hat instead.)

Rise Characterizations Pt. 2!!

In the first part I went over my character writing notes for Raph, so we're doing Leo next!!!

Leo Character Notes

Language Habits:

First the obvious, makes a lot of puns and one-liners. Think corny super hero movies

Does poke at New Jersey often in said one-liners

Mumbles/talks to himself out loud often

Starts a Lot of his sentences with, "Okay--"

Often will add on, "haha, you're hilarious", when he's trying to tease or antagonize someone

Similarly to Raph he will also verbalize his attacks/actions, "kick and punch"/"punch and kick", "land safely"/"and he sticks the landing"

Also will verbalize when he's trying to make a portal, "come on portal", "it's portal time", "portal power jitsu"

We all know "hachi machi"

Tendency to also make noises when fighting, "yah"/"wah!"/"hah!"

That little ohohoho laugh can signify as his battle cry/excitement, or his nervousness depending on context

Same case as the above with "hoh boy"

Will stutter on words to emphasize them, "l-l-l-l-lame!"

The first to jump onto an "I told you so" or "I was right"

Mixes Spanish into his sentences, most notably "bueno", "vamanos", "hermano(s)"

Messes up science terminology, "reprogramulating"

Says "indubitably" when he's up to something (which Raph recognizes)

Out of all the brothers, he does poke fun the most

Refers to himself as "Leon"

Refers to others (mostly strangers/acquaintances) as "bub"/"bud", or "chief"

Personality:

Dramatic, Leo will always play things up 110%. Sometimes this is to cover up his insecurities, to cheer up his brothers, or to annoy said brothers. Also plays into his extreme responses to stressful situations

The fun brother, aka mikey's advocate. He takes his role seriously as the face man, who keeps things fun and cool for his brothers. It's an easy role, and he gets to make his family laugh or roll their eyes. He's. Sillay

Perceptive, this is why he knows exactly what buttons to push, but he's not a great communicator when it comes to the bigger picture. This also plays into his manipulativeness that he uses to put chaos into his family (i.e. lair games), puppet villains (i.e. Big Mama) into his motives, and change the battlefield

A closet nerd, implied to remember more jupiter jim lore than the rest of his brothers and has a ready to go impression of the reptiles of planet reptilica

Competitive to a fault, he tends to get lost in the competition when it comes to his brothers. Part of his dramatism is showing off, and he's weak to being called or associated with the term "champion". Competition is a way he gauges his self worth

Has a strong desire for the inherent admiration and trust of his peers, more than outright praise (both are wanted) unlike Donnie. This damages his communication skills because he just expects his brothers to trust him while he puts on a persona of nonchalance as protection from failure

Defensive, of himself through being snippy or sarcastic, but also defensive of his brothers' own well-being. He may be the one to poke the most fun, but he's also the one to jump to his siblings' defense out of any of the brothers. Sort of an "only I can do so and so to blank" mindset

Martyr complex, prioritizes the safety of his family over his own safety

Gets attached to people he considers family Quickly, those he doesn't consider a part of his family he has little sympathy for but once that connection is there he's already ready to use his body as a shield

Freeze response, tends to freeze up in response to danger or stress. Often shown to curl into a ball or stand silently (as opposed to his constant chatter)

Miscellaneous:

The third to unlock his mystic powers

Nicknames: "baby blue" by splinter, "nardo" by donnie

Sweats an ungodly amount

Uses spit to annoy his brothers/enemies (licking an item to claim it as his, wet willies)

One day I'm gonna kiss the character designers for rise of the tmnt.

Yeah shape theory and all that, it's super neat but IT GOES SO MUCH DEEPER.

Since the beginning of tmnt, the turtles have always been hard to distinguish from each other. Especially in the 1987 show, but all the way up to 2007 movie, the one thing the turtles have really had to distinguish themselves is their color of their masks, their weapons, and usually some minor design changes like the letter on their belts, height, and skin tone. But even those have been subtle.

The 2012 series is really the first tmnt iteration to change up the turtles in a significant way. Not only is their skin different shades of green, but their heights are a more significant difference. Donnie towers of the other turtles, and Mikey's height really solidifies him as the youngest brother.

That isn't where the differences end, though. Raph has a crack in his plastron, Mikey has freckles, and Donnie is much lankier and skinny than the others. The main problem with this though, is that they are still fairly subtle. From behind and without their masks on, it's impossible to tell whether its Mikey, Leo, or Raph on screen. Not to mention, Leo is sort of treated as a 'base', and the other three turtles are just alterations made to his design.

Rise, on the other hand, said "hold my beer."

Not only do rise turtles have the different heights, skin tones, and masks, they have different body types.

And not only are these differing body types useful in telling the turtles apart, they have genuine meanings. So I'm gonna infect your brains with my brainrot.

Starting with Mikey.

Mikey has always been the silliest of the group, the party dude, if you will. Rise uses shape theory to give this playful, young vibe to him. Not only are his markings circles, but so is his head and shell. His design is very rounded overall.

The other thing about rise, is that all their fighting types are different. Their weapons influence these styles along with their personality. Mikey's style of fighting is very acrobatic, very showy. He is very in touch with his sense of balance and the space around him.

It can't be a coincidence that Mikey's body type is also very similar to an acrobat or gymnastic athlete. His muscles are small but compact, and rounded like the rest of him. His limbs are small, but clearly strong and well maintained. Acrobats often have these types of hidden muscles, where they almost disappear when not in use because of the function of them. They aren't using the muscles for heavy lifting or grueling tasks. Acrobats use their muscles for balance and manipulating their own body.

Next is Leo. Unlike 2012 where Leo is used as a baseline for the other character designs, he most definitely has his own unique look. Overall, he's very sharp. His crescent moon markings on his face and limbs, his swords, and his overall stylized body shape leans into this pointed, sharp look.

Leo attacks quick in the series. He is often one of the first to strike, and thinks well ahead in battle to preserve his energy. His battle moves tend to also continue throughout the fight with a large blow in the beginning and end, with smaller strikes in between.

Leo is also the leanest of the turtles, with a small waist and the lithest of the turtles' limbs. All of this points his character design towards a long distance runner. They often start and end races with bursts of energy, and then pace themselves throughout the rest of the race. They have to think and consider their speed. Long distance runners also have very lean muscles. It has to do with the actual proteins in the muscle that make them thinner but perfect for pacing and persevering throughout long lengths of time.

Similar to Leo is Donnie. The disaster twins, as the fandom has named them for being the same age, are the most physically similar. They are nearly the same height and, when Donnie had his battle shell on, their shells are very similar in shape. However, they are still very different. Donnie has a rectangular build with his purple pixel-like markings and big ass forehead. Him and Raph also are the only turtles in rise with full head coverings, and they are also both square shaped.

Donnie tends to put all of his energy into one, well timed blow. Usually using his tech to discombobulate the enemy and then backing off quickly. (The only time this doesn't hold true is when he's fighting with April, where it's only the two of them. However, he still does tend to attack and then back away.) His muscles are the second most defined of the turtles, being thick and bigger than both Leo and Mikey.

For this reason, Donnie I believe is built off of a sprinter. A short distance runner. The perfect match to Leo (the twins ever bro)

Sprinters have to save up all of their energy in order to use it all in one short length of time, often just a few seconds. Exactly how Donnie attacks. Sprinters also have much larger, more defined muscles than long distance runners. I think it has something to do with storing energy and oxygen to be used all at once.

Finally, there's Raph. Raph is big and bulky in the show, with the biggest muscles and is *physically the strongest. He lifts giant boulders and can carry all three of his brothers, April, and Splinter with ease. His shape is a square, with his head and chest being large and boxy. His fighting style is the least ninja-y out of the four, being more related to actually just throwing hands with someone. He fights physically and often times without his weapons, preferring to attack with his body. He gets in the enemy's space and uses his larger size to overpower them. His ability to make himself bigger with his mystic powers furthers this idea. He attacks hard and doesn't let up, not allowing his weaknesses to be exploited by keeping the enemy from never getting a hit in.

I believe Raph is based off of a wrestler or boxer. They fight physically and roughly, preferring to never allow their opponent get a hit in if it allows. Their act of defense is also similar, as boxers generally use their weapon as defense instead of offense. (Raph does this in the train battle and the shredder fight pre-karai death.) Even some of Raph's moves are essentially boxing moves. It also makes sense why, in the show, Raph loves wrestling so much. It may not be boxing, but it's a very similar sport.

Boxers also have large, bulky figures similar to Raph. Their entire body is muscular as opposed to just their legs or arms because of how physical their sport is.

*Mikey throws a lot of super heavy stuff like the top of a sky scraper, a loaded cargo ship, and a semi-truck, but he does it with the help of his mystic weapon.

Being Purple ○ Part One

Rise Ramblings #314

Donnie, a.k.a. Othello von Ryan, a.k.a. Bootyyyshaker9000 is one of two middle children in the Hamato Clan. While Leo, the other middle child, eventually (and inevitably) becomes the leader of their group, Donatello is free to carve out his own place on the team.

And carve he does.

He can fix anything.

He can make anything.

It doesn’t end there.

His list of talents is truly exhaustive…

And for good reason. Through him, his entire family is able to have everything that they need to survive.

His resourcefulness knows no bounds and the comfort of his brothers are his top priority…

…mostly.

His usefulness is palpable. Visible. Physical.

His contribution is his strength. Through the trench he carved out for himself, he knows his place.

He’s the tech guy. He’s the “genius.” He’s their foundation.

He’s purple.

Besides, outside of what he can do and what he can contribute, what else is there?  

Unlike his brothers, Donatello sees his usefulness to the team as what he can provide his family, and only what he can provide his family. Therefore, if they can get what he provides elsewhere, then, to him, he has no place on the team or amongst his brothers.

But why would Donnie see himself as replaceable?

Maybe, it’s the internalization of things like this:

And it’s possible that, unconsciously, it's the reason that Donatello acts the way that he does towards his tech.

Even to the point of his tech also being…replaceable.

But I digress...

I believe that Donnie's deep-set insecurity about his place in his family reveals itself through the constant search for external validation, especially from a "parent-aged adult."

Fortunately, in show, he finally realizes his true worth, and how he’s actually seen by the people that love him…

and receives the validation he’s yearned for the most.

So, where does Donatello go from here?

Well, ultimately, by the time we learn of the bad future, Donatello is already…no more. But who he became transcended his lifespan by breathing life into the very resistance itself.

He was a genius ahead of his time.

He was a loving brother; a kind, energetic, and gentle soul.

Thankfully, with the events of the movie, he can be all of those things and more...

He can be Donatello Hamato.

Now we have Warden Raph!

Yes, this boy is blind, i have denyed him sight. Though his powerful sense of hearing and smell do give him a kind of echolocation ability (his echolocation isnt too precise though- he can really only make out general shapes). Kind of like Toph from Avatar. This does mean he has 360 degree "vision" -so no sneaking up on him!

Unlike proper Wardens, he cant cause blindness simply by being around him, instead he can cause it through touch. (voluntarily too- hes not gonna be accidentally blinding his brothers every time he hugs them- im not that mean)

He doesnt have the laser-thing that Wardens have either (mostly because i only just remembered that existed just now). So no lasers for him.

He is as strong as a warden though!

And his heartbeat is heckin loud, he is not built for stealth. He can make it loud enough that you can hear it in your stomach, its one hell of an intimidation tactic.

Yes he does grow mushrooms, yes Mikey does cook with them.

Unfortunately, he is not immune to lava like normal wardens (ive had to nerf him quite a bit- can you tell?)

His shell is also kinda squishy (because of the skulk) and so is an excellent pillow.
