I kinda want to write up a post about what locals refer to as the "Salem Sickness" here in witch city. Where people move to Salem wanting to become big name witches, but become known for their awful behavior and lack of spiritual power rather than being known as a the witch they dream of being. I've seen 5 or 6 different witch store owners in and around Salem fall victim to this, among other big name authors who tried coming to Salem.

This city has a weird dislike of people coming from the outside to capitalize off the land's trauma. Would yall be interested in hearing my thoughts on this?

A lot of people aren't interested in hearing UPG*. I understand that, as it's true that stating your subjective experience as if it's fact can be misleading. I definitely think it's a good idea to be clear that a particular belief comes from your own practice and not from history or myth. Still, I love learning about other people's UPG.

You think Apollo really likes a certain music artist? That's so cool! Your experience with The Morrigan shows she prefers a particular brand of whiskey? That's awesome!

I think I'm really drawn to hearing UPG because for me, academic study of mythological and historical texts is easy, but figuring out how to translate that to a modern day practice is hard. I'm really fascinated by the real, everyday experiences people have their deities. Thanks to all of you who share them. 😊

A lot of people always talk about the Pokedex entries being nonsensical because kids are writing them, but aside from there being a few things that go against that idea I also don't care for it because it throws out all of the Pokedex info and reduces the world building rather than expands on it. I think it's much more interesting for lots of people to believe that a Macargo is hotter than the sun than just saying a kid made that up. It's still wrong in both cases, but one tells you something about the world and one doesn't

Nachtkrappe-

Giant Raven Boogieman, used to scare children, their whole thing is kidnapping children, some legends say to eat but I think the one that fits here is just the one where it puts kids in a bag and takes off with them. I also found this really sweet-

There are a lot of creatures that are said to kidnap children but this one was one of my favorites.

Other thoughts-

Dragon-

I think the benevolent fairytale-type version of a dragon is very Batman-coded, the kind that protects a kingdom and lives in a cave, the noble kind that protects people and dispences wisdom. Not the kind that is exclusively motivated by greed and violence. You can't look at the batcave and think that it's not a hoard, with the giant playing cards and the coin and the dinosaur. He also hoards information and contingency plans and combat skills and children. It would also track with him inheriting wealth if on of his parents or ancestors was the more typical greedy dragon.

Banshee-

I'm just imagining the pov of a character who is themselves a death omen, even before Joe Chill pulled out his gun, Bruce felt the need to wail. maybe even the moment they left the theater/ opera house. He doesn't know what it means at the time, or maybe he does. He spends the frantic drive to the warehouse Jason was held in holding in screams because he already knows he's going to be too late. I could also see the sound becoming a haunting thing to hear in the streets of Gotham. This is mostly an option because I thought it would be so fucking tragic.

Angel/ Fallen Angel-

Different than a demon, I could see this one even mostly being not heavily religion-based. But the dichotomy between an angel and a fallen angel could be something that happens to Bruce before he becomes batman, and after. Either his wings change color or shape, from fluffy white feathers to black scales. peak wingfic vibes, I feel like an interesting bit of worldbuilding could come from this one. Maybe the Waynes/Kanes were a specific special kind of bird, how grief and mourning affect the care that goes into wings, molting feathers and that kind of thing. Maybe even borderline ABO in they way that there could be societal changes to incorporate the normalcy of wings and other things like that.

hi! i haven’t ever made a cartier masterpost for all the pieces, nor for just the cartier love collection pieces. so let me take this opportunity to give you a rundown! so first off, the facts, karlie owns a cartier love ring and bracelet (both of which she notably wore to eras tour, when she went to eras tour. did i mention, karlie went to eras tour? karlie went to eras tour.).

my understanding of where that wording from gaylors or kaylors comes from is that, it intends to point out that taylor has at times incorporated cartier love pieces into her work, which can be seen as a way of honoring karlie’s personal cartier love pieces, which are known to be very meaningful to her. we know they are meaningful to karlie because of things karlie have said—for example, karlie often talks in interviews about how she bought her cartier love ring with her first paycheck as a model.

karlie also notably owns a cartier tank watch (and more recently she’s been wearing a baignoire watch), and several cartier necklaces (amulette de cartier in onyx and cartier d’amour), and of course a cartier juste un clou bracelet (the one that looks like a hardware nail) which she’s had for many years as well. you can look through all the instances of all the pieces she’s worn over the years here.

i think that overtime this point about taylor wearing cartier has become a little bit blurred by shorthand kaylors or gaylors use, and people think it means kaylors are saying that taylor owns the exact same cartier love pieces that karlie does. that is something we don’t know. i am fairly positive we have not seen taylor wear cartier love pieces in candids or social media. you can browse a fairly comprehensive list of times taylor has worn cartier here.

but that’s not the point anyway, it doesn’t need to be, i would contend. it’s about taylor paying homage to karlie visually, and in a 1:1 way, by referencing items that are important to her.

all this being said, it’s worth mentioning that taylor has also repeatedly worn an agrafe herringbone necklace by cartier over the past few years, and she has worn other cartier pieces in public outings before as well, (including a juste un clou necklace) so i do think she likes cartier, and it’s pretty clear she owns stuff from cartier. (i would like to point out here that, there is a cartier photo book in the ME! music video, in their apartment. ME!, the music video about all the things that make taylor taylor.)

so it’s not too much of a stretch to imagine she might own pieces from cartier’s love collection as well, and that she’s simply never worn them. but again, the argument shouldn’t be allowed to be recentered on whether or not she owns the same pieces. rather, it’s about the iconography. cartier is meaningful both to karlie and holds a place in taylor’s world as well.

now to dive into the times that taylor has worn cartier love pieces. because i think that the times where she has worn cartier love pieces for photoshoots are noteworthy and meaningful in some ways. the two big examples are the rainbow dresses for the reputation album photoshoot, the album that is infamously referred to as being about karlie. and for the september 2019 vogue cover, which at the time many here had pinned as a potential tell-all coming out opportunity. that didn’t happen. (personally, i think that the inclusion of the ring on this cover photo is sort of like a… statement, as to why. (she’s setting off…but not without her muse)). both instances to me are noteworthy examples of incorporating pieces meaningful to karlie into moments in taylor’s career for which karlie played a pivotal role in taylor’s actions.

also, this is a little prequel content for you but, taylor is first documented wearing a cartier love piece in a cover for marie claire back in july 2010. which *pulls out calculator* would have been right before the very earliest that karlie could have bought the cartier love ring, based on the story she tells in interviews, as mentioned above. so there’s an invisible string for ya!

incidentally, this has happened again with another cartier piece. the amulette de cartier! taylor first wore one for elle magazine june 2015. karlie then famously begins wearing a small onyx one in 2018, and again during the pandemic in 2020.

anyways it’s (cartier is) just one of these things that if you’ve been paying attention to kaylor for many years, you’ve come to see as a kaylory brand. because of these various connections, the meaning imbued in the pieces by cartier and then of course with how meaningful taylor and karlie both say jewelry is to them 😌
