have you ever thought of another power for the rooster and peacock miraculous?

For the Rooster, I realllllllyy like @imthepunchlord's Power Rewrite "Chicken Scratch", which is pretty straight forward in explanation (You "write" a rule out and the power makes it happen) but with the fun twist of it being like a Genie's Wish or Monkey's Paw where it can mess with you if you're not careful.

I also came up with my own, "Modify" (I need a better name for it, but I'm working off "Sublimation" so I won't be too hard on myself) which can shapeshift a person or object into something different but of similar make (animals to animals, metals to metals, etc). Mostly keeping it under the umbrella of bending things to your will a bit, but powers like that need limits - the current Rooster power is too limitless as is.

Unfortunately, I don't have a power upgrade idea for the Peacock. It and the Butterfly are pretty maxed out, like the only current limit they have is they can only create one akuma/sentibeing at a time, but Hawkmoth already worked around that and while the natural conclusion is "Oh as an upgrade, you can now make as many as you want", that's not like...fun.

Obviously starting from scratch, lots of people came up with great ideas for the Peacock during the Great Hiatus before it became canon. One of my favorites was Foresight - the ability to glimpse the future. Peacocks are generally linked with mysticism and with the eye motif, it lends itself to psychics, fortune telling, astral projection, all these old school "psychic" powers. But they went with the Butterfly Knock Off, okay boo.

1970 Dodge Challenger T/A

1970 Dodge Challenger T/A Sitting for 45 Years Is a Rare Barn Find in Sublime Green

Introduced in 1969 on the then-new E-body platform, the first-generation Dodge Challenger was a big hit, moving nearly 77,000 units in its first year on the market. And while it may seem rather common, the 1970 Challenger lineup included a few rare gems.

Nearly 73% of the cars were ordered in standard trim, leaving only 18,512 R/T models. Most of the latter left the assembly line with the 383-cubic-inch (6.3-liter) V8, and just 6,231 units were specified with the larger 440-cubic-inch (7.2-liter) RB and 426-cubic-inch (7.0-liter) HEMI mills.

The HEMI is arguably the rarest 1970 Challenger, with only 356 examples made. Just 60 were also ordered with the SE package, and only nine were convertibles. The 440 Six Pack version is also rare at 2,035 examples, while the regular four-barrel 440 found its way into 3,840 vehicles.

But Dodge also built a small-block gem that saw daylight in limited numbers. I'm talking about the Challenger T/A. Developed to homologate the Challenger for the SCCA Trans-Am series, the T/A was available for only a few months in 1970. And its short stint on the assembly line resulted in only 2,399 street-legal models being built and sold.

The T/A packs several unique features, including a low-restriction exhaust system with side-exiting pipes, a larger air scoop, a fiberglass hood, and a heavy-duty suspension. The stripe package is also unique to this car, as is the 340-cubic-inch (5.6-liter) V8 with a triple two-barrel carburetor setup.

An upgrade over the more common four-barrel 340, the Six Pack layout gave the T/A 290 horsepower to play with. And even though it's nowhere near as powerful as the big-block cars, the T/A has a solid advantage in terms of curb weight and handling.

Come 2023, the T/A is one of the most desirable versions of the 1970 Challenger. And while many cars are still around as restored gems, some are rotting away in junkyards and barns, often missing vital components. The Sublime green example you see here is one of them. But unlike other abandoned T/As, this survivor got a second chance at life, and it's roaming the streets again.

Documented by YouTube's "Auto Archaeology," this T/A spent most of its life off the road. According to our host, the Challenger was parked for unknown reasons sometime in 1977. So that's only seven years on the road and more than four decades in storage.

Parked with a four-barrel carburetor instead of the Six Pack setup, it remained in storage in Memphis and Arkansas until 2022. That's when the car was sold and dragged out of its barn. And surprisingly enough, the T/A emerged in surprisingly solid condition.

Sure, the Sublime paint has faded away, and the black vinyl top is long gone, but the body is straight and almost rust-free. There's some rust on the trunk floor, but it's an easy fix with a regular Challenger pan, which is relatively easy to find.

The engine bay was empty at the time of the rescue, but the car still had the original block. And even though the Six-Pack carb was gone, it came with a period correct unit. The driveshaft, air cleaner, automatic gearbox, and the original wheels (which are very rare) were still with the car.

Speaking of which, the automatic makes this T/A one of 1,410 vehicles built with this drivetrain combo. The vinyl top decreases that number even more. It's unclear if it came with a V1G gator grain top, but if it did, it's one of only 33 T/As built like this.

But the really good news about this Challenger is that it has since been revamped and put back on the road. It hasn't been restored just yet, but it's not a solid survivor that's no longer rotting away in a barn. And that's a win in my book.

The New Animation is Amazing

This might make some people mad, but I don’t care. This was a need. The new animation is amazing, even if the old stuff is iconic.

It’s rather well known that the old animation was problematic, to say the least. It was outdated and people spent half the time making fun of it and pointing out its flaws. It was littered with animation errors and the quality of the animation varied from episode to episode.

Some notable animation errors are,

Marinette’s missing eyelashes in Qilin.

Adrien & Marinette on her moped in the beginning of Action.

Max’s missing glasses in the Bubbler.

Pretty much all of Timebreaker.

The old animation is filled with nostalgia, for me and many others, but it was in desperate need of an upgrade.

I’m not saying the new animation is perfect; it can be a bit goofy every now and then. But overall, it’s significantly better than the old animation is and it’s a much needed upgrade.

It looks really good too! From the characters and their new designs, the backgrounds, the new akumatization sequences, the powers, the action/fighting scenes, even the facial expressions!

Some of expressions we’ve seen so far have been absolutely amazing! They convey so many emotions, it’s just outstanding.

Overall, I’m happy with the new animation. Besides, if you’re ever feeling nostalgic, you can always go back and rewatch the old stuff!

Thinking about how perfectly a PacRim au would work with stancest (heavy PacRim spoilers below the cut)

Stan and Ford find out they're drift compatible due to being twins, and they enlist into the program to get away from Filbrick and because it carries that sweet taste of adventure and glory they always craved as kids. They get to the program, run some simulators and some bo staff fights, lo and behold, they're exceptionally compatible by all known projections (wonder why. couldn't possibly have anything to do with their deeply repressed and undying love for each other combined with their shared memories growing up together. nah.)

Here they also meet and befriend Fiddleford, an engineer working on the Jaeger program. Things go great for a while, until Ford starts expressing desire to study the Kaiju, veering dangerously close to idolizing them for their biologically perfect design. Stan is vehemently against this and only wants to focus on killing them. They have a huge fight and they both get kicked out of the Jaeger program.

Stan fucks off and learns to make a living chasing kaiju landfalls and selling off uncannily convincing fake Kaiju parts and materials at obscene prices to whatever Kaiju groupies roll through town in the wake of destruction to worship their "gods." (They remind too fucking much of Ford.) He pockets enough for himself and donates the rest to the victims of the attacks.

This goes on for a few years, until a Kaiju attack obliterates his hometown and kills his parents, brother, and sister in law. Leaving only their 2 young children, only 7 years old. Twins. Dipper and Mabel Pines. (Yes I'm screwing with the timeline here. It will happen again.) He doesn't have any other way to make a living, and they don't have anyone else to go to. So Stan sells El Diablo, uses the money to buy a junk RV, fixes it up, and takes the twins with him on a cross country adventure of heroic conning. Along the way, they encounter Soos, Wendy, Candy, Grenda, and the rest.

In the meantime, Ford works with Fiddleford to develope a pons that can allow him to drift with a recently dead kaiju. It takes a few years, but they finally create it. (By this time Ford has become the highest knowledge of Kaiju biology in the world, and Fiddleford is leading the entire Jaeger engineering program.)

They drift together.

For Ford, it's ecstasy, euphoria, sublime, righteous. Finally he has been proven right, finally he knows why all the Kaiju tissue samples are genetically identical, finally he knows that there is a higher being behind the Kaiju. And that higher beings name is Bill. (Not really. His name would be impossible for any human mind to comprehend, drift or no. But Bill is a good enough substitute.) And Bill explains [insert Bill's offer here].

Unfortunately, Ford and Fiddleford's minds and memories weren't very compatible to begin with, much less with an dead alien brain from another dimension in the mix, and as the weakest willed of the 3, Fiddleford suffers permanent brain damage and amnesia.

The strength of that drift with Bill allows for them to experience ghost drifting, aka drifting during dreams. Bill teaches Ford how to make an upgraded version of the pons with less risk, and how to preserve a Kaiju specimen indefinitely so as to drift with him over and over again. The repeated drifts build a permanent neutral bridge between Ford and Bill, and Bill becomes able to take control of Ford's body, even outside of the drift. Ford becomes less and less focused on the Kaiju attacks and the people dying, and more lost in all the wonders of the multidimensional planes bill shares memories of with him.

With the lead engineer of the Jaeger program mentally obliterated, and the chief Kaiju biology researcher being possessed by a Kaiju, and the lack of support from the world's governments in favor of building a wall across the coast to block the kaiju, the Jaeger program slowly starts to collapse.

That is, until the day Ford discovers [insert horrifying Bill revelation here].

He panics and calls the one person who might be able to free Ford's mind from bill, the one person with whom he had a statistically impossible level of compatibility. The person he was the most terrified to open his mind to.

Have you ever thought of power upgrades for fenice or comousiner?

Honestly the thing that gives me pause for upgrading my SL heroes is that I already spent a lot of time designing their outfits, so springing off to redesign them again is almost painful.

I tried with Koki Marina and Fox Trot before and it was impossible for me - not the New Power part, just the New Suit part. So instead I can only really speculate on possible powers for them.

Fenice - Chicken Scratch (yep I'm borrowing @imthepunchlord's power name for this one) With her quill, Fenice can write and attach an attribute to another person (ex: writing "Speed" on a friend's back gives them super speed, writing "Heavy" on an enemy increases the gravity on them and makes them hard to move). Obviously this power requires the same level of creativity as "Sublimation" and also an amount of proximity to the target.

Comousiner - Mass Produce. Creates multiples of the user at the same size as the original (I'm lowkey tapped out on expanding on the Mouse Miraculous's canonical powers if you couldn't tell. At least they're straight forward.)

and as a bonus, what I was trying to figure out with Fox Trot and Koki Marina:

Fox Trot - Phantasm. Turns the user into a mist and taking on all the properties of mist, being intangible, lighter than air, and able to pass through and around objects (the idea is the user's physical body becomes made of the same properties as their usual illusions, aka, the orange mist they turn into when they dispel).

Koki Marina - Rebound (I gotta work on the name). When an attack hits the user's shield, it's rebounded back at the attacker. Though the shield is smaller than Shell-ter, so precision is key.

Mayor Lewis kinda sorta sucks a fair amount but the funniest thing other than the purple shorts is the truffle oil.

Listen, dude. If you wanted high quality truffle oil, that's valid. You don't need to elaborate. You ever have truffle fries? Sublime. You're also paying me to make it so it's whatever.

But when the quest is called "mayor's need" and is very insistent that he won't explain what it's for, and that it's probably not my business what he uses it for, that would piss me off.

Are you going to make me build a barn, upgrade the barn three times, then buy and raise a pig, then make it dig for truffles, then make the truffle into a delicious truffle oil, SO YOU CAN USE IT AS LUBE????????? YOU'RE GOING TO SEND ME A LETTER ASKING ME TO MAKE YOU A MUSHROOM FLAVOURED LUBE?????

Bro I'm gonna climb on that bigass statue you built and start screaming at passersby that you commissioned me (and by extension the carpenter and the rancher) to make quality truffle oil so you can use it with the rancher. I'm the mayor now bitch.

It's the whole "Marinette has to make a mistake in every episode thing" rule that the writers have that makes her look like she doesn't learn anything/grow as a character and is also why she looks like she's really inconsiderate of other people because a lot of the mistakes revolve around her consistently hurting the feelings of the people around her, as if she's consistently doing things without thinking about how her actions would affect anyone other than herself until they do. Like yeah she doesn't think about what's going on with Chloe but she also does this to the people she does care about. And it's like, after the upgrades the writers want us to believe they're "adults" but they keep having Marinette acting incredibly immature, like when she was freaking out over Sublime or when she kept expecting Adrien to show up when he already said he wouldn't.

Ya know this was something that I think was done much better in MLP.

Because that one was, at least originally, framed around a lesson of the day. But instead of every episode being centered on Twilight's journeys, whether it be her making some fuckup or just general circumstances, they'd have any number of the Mane 6 or the CMC or Spike going through some nonsense.

So it never felt like everything going wrong was one person's fault. But they still had Twilight learn the lesson because she'd summarize the episode and spell out said lesson at the end.

Then they'd have the 'same lesson over and over' but make it different enough to show character growth. Like, take Fluttershy for example. A lot of her episodes were revolving around her shyness and anxieties and all of that. But lessons range from 'be assertive and put up boundaries' to 'sometimes ya gotta put on your big girl pants and push through your fears to get shit done' to 'while it's good to get out of your comfort zone it's also okay to stay in it sometimes for your mental health'.

But then they also show growth in other ways. Like in Season 1 when they had to deal with a Dragon she was basically catatonic and being dragged into it by the rest of the cast. By the end of season 3 she's scolding a God of Chaos for being a dick.

So yeah swinging back to Miraculous: If there was less "Marinette needs to learn a lesson every episode" and more "someone involved in the situation learns something, with Mari and Tikki summing it up later" it'd work better.

Same with the character growth. Which I /do/ think there is some because seeing how she treated Kagami vs how she treated Sublime. She was still jealous but there /was/ improvement in the sense that she didn't assume that Sublime was some evil bitch bound to mistreat her precious Adrien. But it's still not quite enough by season goddamn six.

Upcoming 2024 cdramas (maybe???) from least appealing to most

We got less than two months, so let's gooooo! Now with cdramas, you never know if something will air until it drops and sometimes not even then, so this is rumored.

The Immortal Ascension - Yang Yang is my least favorite cdrama actor and that topic is boring as hell to me so yeah, nope.

Duoluo Continent 2 - aka "we can't afford Xiao Zhan any longer, sorry." I couldn't even get through the first season of this "Harry Potter Chinese edition" mess despite my love for XZ, so I am highly unlikely to check this one out.

Moonlight Mystique - aka a rainbow vomited. Honestly, I hated the trailer. And while I adore Bai Lu, her leading man? You know how there are apparently those antis who think Liu Yuning is ugly and I go are you blind? It's the reverse for ARP for me - clearly the industry finds him hot enough to be leading man material but I find him genuinely ugly, which is a feat for a cdrama actor to be. It might be OK if I found him a good actor but...

Brocade Odyssey - I hate women empowering themselves through business (of a suitably feminine nature, of course) narratives as much as I do ML is the specialiest wuxia boy in all the world narratives. I am fond of Seven though so here is hoping.

The Demon Hunter's Romance - I was way more excited for it before SZE got into a limbo. Now I am sort of meh. Plus, despite my soft spot for RJL, he's a terribly uneven actor so you never know what yu will get with him. This said, if this does air, we might actually have a chance to see Prisoner of Beauty.

A Moment But Forever - an old school xianxia in vibe from the trailers but sometimes that's what you need. Plus, Tang Yan being sent to kill fragile gorgeous Liu Xueyi but choosing to protect him instead is my jammy jam jam!

Blossom - out of all the trailers for upcoming dramas, this is my favorite, I adore Meng Ziyi, LYR is getting upgraded to ML status and it's the director of Provoke, Butterflied Lover and A Familiar Stranger.

Guardians of the Dafeng - can't believe it's my most anticipated but here we are. Now, this could either be truly terrible or truly sublime but I am a fan of high risk/high reward concept. I have never been impressed by Dylan Wang except for CLJ but I was blown away there. Director of Shen Li and screenwriter of My Perfect Husband. So...anyway, I want to gamble.

-It's extremely funny how the international versions wrote the intro text scroll as Soma being a high school exchange student, yet immediately afterwards still have him say Mina is his childhood friend abfasbfasfabsfgas that's NOT how it works, unless he's been an exchange student since childhood lmaooo. They even changed his last name, cuz it was Kurusu in Japanese, like what were they cooking when translating this game.

-Arikado and Yoko set the dial to maximum when it comes to serving so much cunt

-I can't believe Soma called Hammer 'grandpa' he's so funny afbabfasbfaafs

-Also the fact that Soma talked to Graham one time before the latter flipped out later in the game, and Soma was like "but he was so nice!!!" when he told Yoko about it, like baby boy agnasfbasags you spoke with him for like 2 minutes, what DO YOU MEAN???

-This music FUCKS, it MAKES LOVE TO THE EARS. Literally every track in this game so far is so sexy, but special mention to "Prologue-Mina's Theme", "Chapel", "Dance Hall" "Phantom Palace" "Clock Tower", even the Title jingle and the shop theme.

But of course, all of that's topped by "Castle Corridor." Just ughhhh, what a fucking sublime start to an extraordinary soundtrack.

-You can see that the devs really hit their stride here, not having to sacrifice sprite quality or sound this time. Everything is just so good.

-Geography is good, by the time I feel like things get a bit repetitive, things get switched up. Never a dull moment I find. It helps that there's well placed warp points, including one near where Mina and Hammer are, so I can get fully healed and restock my inventory conveniently.

-Challenge is perfect. I said that about Harmony of Dissonance, but I kind of rescind that now. Where Circle was too overtuned and treacherous, and Dissonance was perhaps too easy and prone to breaking, Aria pushes me to my limit in the best way possible. I never feel as if my biggest enemy is my patience like with Circle, nor do I feel effortlessly invincible like with Dissonance. Soma has the necessary tools to clear rooms, mooks, and bosses, but it's down to my skill, reaction time, and resource management to make it count.

Favorite boss so far is probably Headhunter.

-Normally I'd be pressed about RNG based drops for abilities again like in Circle, but I did some research and found that the rates are MUCH better here for souls than they were for the DSS cards, which confirms my assumptions when I was playing. I imagine it'd still be a pain to grind for all the souls, but the game still gives you non-random ones, enough of each type to ensure you can play the game comfortably.

-The souls I do have so far, are all at least fun to experiment with. I gravitate most to the Axe Knight and Lightning Doll right now, but others like the water pistol, flea man, and fire ball have been great too.

-Same goes for the weapons Soma can use. Mostly sword varieties so far, but he also gets hammers and spears, and a chain sword. All very fun to use, though I do like the swords the best.

-I notice there aren't any HP or MP upgrades in the game so far, which I guess makes sense, since the shop is so dynamic and money is very available, so increasing those through items isn't really as imperative to this game's design.
