So I’m sort of composing a Basil au of some general kind- I’m hesitant to call it an au but it is, just not in the usual way

The general idea is just to tell omori from basils perspective, give looks inside his mind and what he’s thinking and delve more into his personal non-sunny related trauma that doesn’t get explored in the game, it’s an au in the sense that I deviate from canon to tell his story in a way that gets around all the missing information (namely stuff about his parents)

In my mind Basil doesn’t have a headspace or a whitespace but he does go somewhere in his dreams and when he spaces out, Basils mind and its locations are comprised of memory’s and vague ideas of places he may or may not have been, very little in Basils mind is entirely new or even warped fantasy versions of real life, it’s more like … decoupage

Also Basils mind is significantly more fucked up in the sense that he doesn’t compartmentalize his trauma like sunny does, it’s just there, right next to the good memories no matter how jarring the transitions are, he can’t hide like sunny can, in a way he doesn’t really want to, in a way Basil sort of wants to be miserable; he thinks he deserves it

I plan on making art for this au soon and maybe even fully writing it- I’ve talked about it a little bit once or twice and if I can I’ll go back and add those posts to the tag I’m about to make- which for the time being is omori!marzenie (marzenie meaning dream in polish, basil is polish by the way that’s my headcanon for him and it’s kind of important to this au idea I have)

I don’t have spotify or what have you, I usually listen to music on youtube on my laptop. But I’ve got a couple of playlists I’ve made, and if I shake them a bit, what comes out is:

Konya Wa Hurricane, Kinuko Omori/’Priss & the Replicants’. (It’s the opening song for the Bubblegum Crisis OVA series, the cyberpunk anime series of the 80s. In universe, it’s a song by one of the main characters and her band, aptly named Priss and the Replicants, which I love).

Sin City, Meredith Brooks. (I’m pretty sure this was from/for a Nic Cage movie, let me look this up, yes, Snake Eyes. But it’s a good noir sort of a song. “Change the names to protect the guilty, you’ll never leave Sin City … where you are king”).

Short Change Hero, The Heavy. (I’m 90% sure I first heard this song on a TF2 machinima, but it’s such a cool vibe for a post-apocalyptic western sort of deal. “This ain’t no place for no hero, this ain’t no place for better man. This ain’t no place for no hero to call home.”)

Power of the Night, Terrence Mann/’Johnny Steel’. (I’m starting to realise I have a lot of songs from various soundtracks on my lists. This one is from Critters, supposedly from the in-universe rockstar the alien hunters take the shape of. It’s a pretty sweet rock song though, and I do love Terrence Mann).

Keep the Streets Empty For Me, Fever Ray. (An eerie, drifting track that I think is about urban emptiness. Great thing to listen to at 4am on a thin night).

Labirynt, Zbigniew Preisner. (Again, if you want something drifting and eerie and vaguely unsettling. I cannot for the life of me remember how I stumbled across this, but it’s beautiful).

Spanish Train, Chris de Burgh. (Spanish Train & Other Stories was one of the tapes that always came on car journeys when we were kids. Chris de Burgh is one of the things from my childhood that really stuck. I love his story songs. Spanish Train is a fabulous little folk tale about god and the devil playing poker for the souls of a damned train).

Splitting the Atom, Massive Attack. (I found this because of the video, because the video is wild. A slow pan through a fractured black glass city to find the bizarre source of destruction at the centre. But the song itself is also great, a slow, dark, threatening rhythm. I also like their song Angel, and it’s also on my playlist).

Fancy, Reba McEntire. (I do not, as a general rule, listen to much country music, but I do like a few by Reba McEntire. This one is dark, about a girl whose mother sells her into prostitution because they desperately need money, and the woman the girl became coming back later after she’s made a life for herself to forgive her for it).

Starlight Brigade, TWRP. (This one was, again, because of the video, but it’s such a fantastic video. If they made a whole damn show of this, a-la Galaxy Rangers, or an animated music video move a-la Daft Punk’s/Leiji Matsumoto’s Interstella 5555, I would absolutely watch it. And the song itself is a fantastic synthy cheerful unabashed sci-fi cheese, and I love it).

Ok I felt as if I should explain how I tag my posts here and how I'll tag them from now on.

For trigger warnings, I simply tag #tw [trigger] and sometimes #[trigger] and/or #[trigger] tw. For example: #tw slur, #slur, #slur tw

i sympathize greatly with 🌨️ anon especially because Mae is one of my personal faves and i was so worried she was gonna be swept by yellow guy cause DHMIS is similar to yume nikki to me in terms of indisputable derealization/unreality in the media itself, even if she'd gotten 30% against yellow guy i would've considered it a win to my heart 😔✨

It's honestly a super interesting thing with how vague of a concept "dissociation swag" is, because dissociation and the media we see ourselves in can really be subjective and vary from person to person, and it's been super interesting to see where people "prioritize" their choices based on what they experience!

Like you have the idea of plurality, which you see in contenders like Shallan, Blitzwing, etc- where characters have established DID or at least multiple distinct personalities that could be interpreted as a system or something similar

Or you have contenders like Ingo who moreso manifest in a derealized concept- He frequently seems dazed and not present, staring off into space- typical "signs" that someone may be experiencing a dissociative episode

Or contenders like Sunny (From what I've gathered, still haven't gotten around to playing Omori) and Cloud, who have partial amnesia over traumatic events that manifests in dissociative episodes and the like

Or you have characters like Madotsuki and Yellow Guy- who aren't shown explicitly to be dissociative (I think, I still need to play Yume Nikki too oops), but constantly exist in these spaces of unreality that those of us with dissociative disorders can heavily relate to, so on and so forth!

I don't really have a point to this ramble, I just find it super fascinating that the concept of dissociation covers a wide variety of experiences and certain people may latch on to certain characters and/or experiences more than others which influences their votes!

Hey y'all, just got back from watching the rest of manlybadasshero's omori lets play and i thought i'd share some of my thoughts about the game! (NEEDLESS TO SAY, THERE WILL BE SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!)

So let's get one SUPER ULTRA MEGA BIG thing out of the way first, i would've 100% enjoyed my experience a lot more if i wasn't such a huge scatterbrain and spoiled the big twist at the end for myself. Though in my defense i kinda wasn't expecting the game to get so popular so quick when it first came out, i first heard of the game through manly and i thought it was just another obscure indie game like what he always plays. Aside from that though....I LOVED IT!!!!! It tugged at my heartstrings with it's accurate portrayal of mental illness and the heartwarming moments between sunny and his friends, it really reminded me of my own childhood in a lot of ways. I've found myself relating to all the characters in some sort of way, especially aubrey. Idk....just the way she lashed out on others throughout the game really spoke to me in a weird way......either that or it's just because i like rebellious characters in general (the fact that she has a pet bunny is a plus for me, i love bunnies!)

Ngl, i don't cry to video games often....i'm pretty sure the only games i've ever cried to are undertale and pokemon sword but even then, i was crying about pokemon sword because i was proud of myself for completing the game....and honestly, i'm glad omori is one of those games that make me emotional like that...even if i already knew sunny killed mari, even if i already knew basil killed himself in one of the endings. Though that could also be because my dog wouldn't shut the fuck up while i was watching the last few episodes and i was just stressed out about that

If i had to pick: i feel like i prefer headspace over real world, i was an undertale kid back in the day so i love me some quirky characters and fun worlds! Though tbh i feel like omocat WANTED her players to like headspace more since she explicitly said at one point that she specifically wanted to make omori a game so that people would be able to FEEL what sunny was feeling (that's the best way i can explain it i guess) that being said; i'd say my favorite characters are aubrey, spaceboy and recyclepath. I've already said what i've wanted to say about aubrey earlier but aside from that, i think she's really cool and VERY me-core! Same goes for spaceboy, i'm a huge sucker for bright colors and space-themed characters. Not to mention recyclepath is a really unique character, i've never seen a character based ENTIRELY on recycling before! Plus his coat and glasses remind me a LOT of oliver tree and i mean....hey, i like songs like alien boy and life goes on lmao

Ngl while i DID get the endings spoiled for me, there was still a lot of stuff that was a HUGE surprise for me! Like BRO I HAD NO IDEA KEL AND HERO HAD A BABY SISTER!!!! I mean....i DO vaguely remember someone mention sally in a youtube comment section but i had no idea what they were talking about and i was kinda just confused (iirc i may have even thought that kel and hero having a sister was just a weird dream i had) but i mean hey....as the youngest sister of 3 siblings who was born when my mom was in her 40's myself, i appreciate the representation! /hj

I actually first got into omori because a good friend of mine was into it, it started when he changed his pfp on discord to basil and we had a really short conversation about the game afterwards. A while later i saw an omori edit in my youtube rec and i thought "oh yay it's that game my friend likes! Let's watch it!" And the rest, as they say, is history! Dunno why the fuck it took me a whole ass year to finish the damn playthrough though

Speaking of which, i DEFINITELY wish that manly showed the hikkikomori route bosses in his playthrough. Seeing thoses cutscenes of the slime girls creating roboheart, mutantheart and perfectheart REALLY got me pumped to see the boss fights! Oh well....

All in all, omori is a SPECTACULAR game and i'm glad i decided to check it out! 9/10!

i have three whole YTTD AUs and an Omori AU all in my brain and i want to talk about them grhrgrgrgrgrgr

basic summaries

Trialswitch (YTTD) - An AU that takes away the "balancing" part of the death game, leaving Nao, Mishima, and Kugie out of the game. Shin gets a completely different first trial and stays his true self, and in fact develops to be stronger and more confident throughout the story. Sara's first trial was to kill Ryoko to survive, or die to save her life. She ultimately kills Ryoko in a panic and becomes distraught and traumatized from this trial. She gets worse before she gets better. If possible, I'd want to make this into a fangame.

Deathswitch (YTTD) - A "storyshift-like" YTTD AU that shifts character roles (excluding Sara, the protagonist) around in pairs, without changing original personalities. Sara dies in the original YTTD timeline, then wakes up at her desk like before the Death Game started, unaware she's in a different world. She retains memories of the previous world, but nothing from the death game besides vague, blurry bits and pieces. She also gains memories of her past in the new world she's in when interacting with certain people. I am in the process of turning this into a story!

YTTSwap: Death Game by Swap AU (YTTD) - or Zaire's Your Turn to Swap since I'm not the only one with a basic YTTD swap au. What you see is what you get - characters swap with each other and things change because of it. All blood relations remain intact in this. Meister, Mr. Chidouin, and the Memorandum Man are all the same guy. I have a lot of doodles n shit for this AU actually due to how important design change is to it. Might make this into a sprite comic in the future if I'm feeling silly.

ISOLI (OMORI) - This is a fun one!!! "Isoli" comes from the german word for isolate, isolieren. In ISOLI, the emotion bosses (and Mikal lmao) swap with Sunny's real friends! Biscuit <--> Mari, Doughie <--> Hero, Basil <--> Mikhael, Aubrey <--> Spaceboy, and Kel <--> Sweetheart. Mari and Hero are magic healers cursed to aid people for all eternity without breaks, Basil is just a little guy in the park, Aubrey is a rogue, and Kel is a basketball star alien! Meanwhile Captain Spaceboy, Sweetheart, and Biscuit are now Charlie, Stephanie, and Bowen. Doughie is still Doughie and uses they/them pronouns. Sunny was adopted into Doughie and Bowen's family when he was just a baby.

The Red Devil’s Chronicles: Sept to Nov 2022 DMC News Updates - Merch, Collabs, Etc.

Hey there, how's it going? Apologies for being silent for awhile. Got really distracted and busy. Here are all the Devil May Cry-related news updates I've conjured up from September to November:  1. Devil May Cry returns in Last Cloudia. 2. Someone by the name of PresssLee on Twitter is making a fan game based on Dante's and Vergil's childhood. 3. Prime1 Studio releasing a DT version of V. b) And more merch. c) Plus DMC3 Dante and Vergil, coming soon. 4. The English version of the DMCV art book is coming. 5. New Devil May Cry apparel at the CapCom store. 6. The Devil May Cry: Peak/Pinnacle of Combat mobile game gets more updates soon, which includes switching characters in real time, unlockable playable Nero, special move cutscenes, and more. 7. Devil May Cry V now reaches over 6 million copies sold. b) Not to mention it's currently one of CapCom's top selling games.  c) And Itsuno talks about his development adventures, with DMCV included in the discussion. d) And Itsuno also discusses his struggles with the PS3 and Xbox360 era. 8. Dante’s DMCV face model, Adam Cowie, dressed up as Dante for Halloween. 9. The creator of Fable admits to using some ideas from the Devil May Cry games. 10. Big decision I’ve made on my part. I used to run a DMC4-Screenshotz Photobucket page to store all of these screenshots I’ve taken of Devil May Cry 4 for the purpose of linking it onto my long, forgotten website. Due to drastic, unlikeable changes made on Photobucket’s part, and losing interest in maintaining the site due to its limitations in the free version, I’ve decided to completely remove that Photobucket account, and all of its screenshots with it. 

My Thoughts On These Updates:

1. Not a mobile game fan, but nice to see that some collab projects are making returns. 2. That’s awesome that we get a fan game. I remember when me and a few friends wanted to make our own when the reboot got announced back in the day due to us being unhappy about the direction CapCom was going in. But we had to scrap the idea due to being too busy. 3. Those DMC3 figures are looking pretty great so far. I understand they’re just computer generated, so they might not be the official final look. You never know. I do see some hints of Naru Omori’s style being implemented into these figures. And I love how Dante finally gets a slice of pizza as part of a collectible item. 4. I’d see Japanese fans help translate some of the stuff from the art book, but of course things end up being vague since they’re just concept images and nothing more. Plus certain kanji can be a bit hard to translate. 5. Those clothes are looking SSStylish. 6. I remember hearing rumours of Nero becoming an unlockable character, so it looks like it might actually be a thing. That’s cool how you can change characters in real time as well. And from what I’ve seen in the latest gameplay vids, it once again has gone through a lot of changes with the visuals and characters’ faces. Wonder what new updates there will be after these ones. 7. So happy for CapCom that Devil May Cry V is doing so great. Gives us fans hope about their future of game development and release choices. Fans are still discussing to this day on what DMC6 will offer.  I agree and imagine the PS3 and Xbox360 era being a bit of a difficult era to work with. Microtransactions, DLC, and all that tricky marketing stuff are what got introduced and changed the gaming business from then on. Even working with different equipment for better visuals and all of that. Devil May Cry 4 in my opinion wasn’t really up to its hype. Yes, it introduced some new and interesting things, and the cutscenes were very enjoyable to watch, and of course those that enjoyed the mechanics got a kick out of the whole Bloody Palace and SSStylish tournament-related stuff. But the way the game played out just got so boring, and definitely would’ve been as great as DMCV and/or DMC3 if they delayed the game further and implemented what they wanted to from the start. I feel they released DMC4 at a pretty bad time. 8. I was wondering when we were gonna see Adam dressed up as Dante again. 9. Of course, many struggling companies or businesses would want some “inspiration” from good titles. Fable was pretty good and amusing. Never thought they’d take ideas from Devil May Cry. I’m even still trying to wrap my head around where the elements of Devil May Cry are in it. 10.  It’s no biggie that I decided to remove my Photobucket account and all of its contents...I can always show my love of Devil May Cry another way.  11. There is one other thing I was gonna mention here which was about that drama involving Platinum Games and Bayo’s original voice actress Hellena Taylor. I’ve decided not to bring that up ‘cause it’s more about Bayonetta than Devil May Cry. In other words, a different topic. Yes, Bayo does have some very minor ties with DMC, and Hideki Kamiya from Platinum was the original director of DMC, but I’d rather keep it just exclusively Devil May Cry-related. If you want my thoughts on it, though, I don’t really have anything since I’m not much of a Bayonetta fan. At first, I heard that Kamiya left Twitter for good, but it turned out that he didn’t leave after all. And Hellena’s one sneaky, greedy, and pompous individual. Yes, I’ve heard of voice actors/actresses getting treated poorly, and yes we do see Kamiya act unprofessional and insane at times. But in Hellena’s case, she’s just seeking for attention to cause a stir, and mislead fans for her own gain. That’s all I’ve gotta say.

Saul Goodman transgirl was a transgirl in my psychology who really related to Saul Goodman. The name has been stuck in my head.

Expect Disco Elysium, Omori, TF2, probably random furry stuff, legend of zelda, deltarune, and maybe some OCs in terms of art or reblogs.

Feel free to request art of whatever if I've shown a vague interest in it, it'll probably be a coloured sketch at best. I have a friend who likes Vash from Trigun and the welcome home guys so I know how to draw them too, it's just personally not my style. I also don't mind drawing furry OCs whenever because I'm trying to git gud at differing species.

i actually asked my bestie who played the game some time ago and she told me i shouldn't play it because it would scare me-- she was right. did you know i need to breath in twice before checking any mirror in-game now. also the creepy scenes when you're in black space, i had to turn off the volume for those. i will probably play all the ends/routes i'm missing during christmas break but i'm not ready for what's to come because i can. feel. some of the scenes. it's a gut feeling ahaha i'm so not ready ;;

but!! i'm glad to see i was right because i kept thinking "dang, i think sunny might be because of this sunny" and io and behold. it is www i love the little man so much... sososo much. definitely connected with him in a lot of. personal aspects </3 also hello how dare you find out i'm especially fond of hero??? omg. am i that predictable. or maybe i'm just projecting but,, responsible older sibling that does not know how to cope with loss and ends up giving up the things he likes in order to do what's expected of him..... ahem

i think i love all of them for different reasons ; v ; mari is really really nice and i was delighted to find out she's just like that. because sometimes they pull out the "they were actually an awful person" card and that wouldn't have sit right with me. KEL. KEL. kel my son. kel. i will wrap him in a burrito blanket and kiss his forehead every night i love him. kel is the best best friend i love him soooo much you have awesome taste. sunny and kel have the most precious friendship <33

aaaa i don't want to spam you any more but. fun fact. at first i couldn't remember basil's name for my life so i keept calling him albahaca (basil in spanish). little albahaca. i've been seeing fanarts of him for a while and he faintly reminded me of N from pokemon? literally one of my fav fictional characters in the world so i was on my way to liking him before playing the game ♪(´▽｀)

OH NOOOO HELP ME ;;; KSJDJSIDJ I HOPE IT DIDN'T SHAKE YOU TOO MUCH....... omori has smart jumpscares. 0(-( ......... i don't get scared too much at day, but i get nightmares and night-anxiety and let me tell you after playing omori.. hell. red space was especially Scarring, turning off the music is probably the smartest thing you can do in the.. depth zones.. shudder. but !! i hope you have fun with the rest of the routes !!!

BUT YES YOU THOUGHT RIGHT !! i love sunny a lot. i also find him very unfortunately relatable. headscratch. sunny was like.. a staple character for me! i would drag him around everywhere. my cat. and kel is just.. ok it's just kel 100/10 i won't even have to say anything i love him and their dynamic. ( someone up in heaven please send a kel bestfriend. ) AND YOU JUST EXUDE THE HERO FAN ENERGY, i don't know what exactly it is but it's there. headpat headpat..... hero is such a sad character, it's a little sad how people brush over his issues so quickly when he's.. just. :(

mari is just so sweet and. people often throw the "mari was a perfectionist and pushed sunny too far" card, and while that is true, it doesn't make her a bad person entirely.. it's a human flaw (that she didn't have the time to correct in the end). the fact that she's just a normal girl who did nothing to warrant this just makes the pain worse. and the fact that sunny is also a normal boy and it was an accident makes it even worse.

I stream, I write fanfiction, probably in the future I will create original things too. Might wanna learn gamedev stuff. So far it’s lookin’ like this will be my main social hangout other than Discord even though tumblr’s vague-ass rules terrify me. x)

Currently I mostly write Deltarune and Undertale stuff. I use the same name over on AO3. My work is often but not always sexual, always queer and trans as all hell, and rarely but occasionally verges into Dead Dove territory, so watch the content warnings. I’ll be using ‘Dead Dove’ as a tag on posts where it’s applicable so blacklist that if you need to, plus ‘EITD’ for Echoes in the Distance (my extremely long-running DR fanfic series) and ‘Castaway Angels’ for that series.

On the rare chance I stream again it’s usually either story-heavy games - Omori, Disco Elysium and Spiritfarer are all on my increasingly backlogged to-play list - or tough action games like the Souls series, indie platformers like Katana ZERO and Luna Nights, etc.
