✨🙌🏼 BEAT THE BLOAT 🙌🏼✨ - Bloating occasionally is actually NORMAL! When you eat a large meal or a meal high in fibre, most of us get a little bloated. That is totally normal – what’s not normal is having bloating which is constant, painful or associated with other conditions like chronic diarrhoea. If this sounds like you, pop to your GP for a check up. - My top 10 easy tips to reduce bloating are: smaller frequent meals, looking at the overall fibre content of your diet (too little or too much fibre can make bloating worse), chewing your food properly (honestly SO helpful!), reducing carbonated/ bubbly drinks, reducing sweeteners/ sugar alcohols/ diet products, reducing ‘windy’ types of food such as beans, cabbage & cauliflower, instead of going dairy free trial low lactose instead (this seems to help the majority of my clients without completely removing dairy). Finally try limiting alcohol, processed foods & take-aways to assist with gut health & bloating 👊🏼 - Also, I think it’s important to note most women suffer from symptoms of bloating & other gut complains before or during their period which may result from hormone changes. About a week before a woman's period starts, levels of the hormone progesterone fall. Reduced levels of progesterone actually cause the uterus to shed its lining, which is what causes our menstrual bleeding. But along with this, the changes in progesterone & estrogen levels actually cause the body to retain more water & salt which makes the body's cells become swollen and this may cause bloating. 🤔How Often Should I Eat? 🤔⠀⁣⠀⠀ ⁣⠀⁣⠀⠀ If there's one question I get asked more than "what should I eat?" it's "how often should I be eating?" and once again, it's very straightforward.Whatever works for you.⁣⠀⠀ ⠀⁣⠀⠀ It's very easy to understand the confusion. We have people telling us to only eat 1-2 meals a day and fast the rest of the day, others telling us to eat 6-8 meals spaced throughout the day, even some saying to go a day week without eating at all. So what gives?⠀⁣⠀⠀ ⠀⁣⠀⠀ Well lets break it down. When you eat food, your body burns calories digesting the food. So the idea behind eating small meals regularly is that the more often you eat the more often you "boost metabolism" and burn more throughout the day. But the amount of calories burned depends on the overall quantity of food consumed, not the frequency. For example, if it takes 10 calories of energy to digest 500 calories of food, it won't matter if those 500 come from 1 meal or 2, the energy used is the same.⠀⁣⠀⠀ ⠀⁣⠀⠀ So, how often should you eat? However often works for you. For fat loss, the frequency of your meals doesn't matter, the amount of calories you consume is what will impact your progress. ⁣⠀⠀ ⁣⠀⠀ Unless you are an elite athlete or competitor, or have a specific medical concern, meal timing isn't a big factor. So eat when suits you. It's a minor detail.
