Just saw a TikTok complaining about ‘kitten’ as a pet name in fanfiction and while I do agree with/understand their discomfort on that one the comments were FULL of people mentioning all the other common pet names ?? Like honey babe baby sweetheart etc ?? Is your partner just supposed to call you by your name the whole time ????????

I was telling a Spanish-speaking friend today that the word “caballo” is very fitting as it does feel like a Spanish horse (andalusian), it’s just an elegant word to me, and then we decided to make a list of what kind of horse various words for “horse” feel like

1. Caballo (Spanish). A strong yet genteel hidalgo of a horse.

2. Pferd (German). Pferd is a forthright, earnest, down-to-earth kind of chap. (I think because it brings to mind the word Erde.) That’s a Pferd:

3. Zaldi (Basque): zaldi is a thin and pointy horse. No debate, this is a zaldi:

4. Chouval (Guianese / Martinican creole) — pronounced shoo-val and clearly that’s the opposite of a zaldi. An extremely round horse. Here’s a chouval :

5. говр / gowr (Chechen). This one feels imposing. Large noble beast, the kind with pompon legs. This is a gowr:

6. Zirgs (Latvian). We found that the letter Z immediately reduces horse size in our minds. A zirgs has got to be the opposite of a gowr both in size and in vibe. It also feels like a busy fellow.

7. Arklys (Lithuanian). That’s an intriguing word for horse—I thought it was a distant relative of equus but we found that it’s from the word for plough! Anyway arklys is a sleek and shiny horse, like those golden fantasy horses that actually exist:

8. Horse (English). It’s not English’s fault but we both agreed that this word feels somewhat wrong, like another animal pretending to be in the equid family. It’s definitely because we pronounce it badly, we both totally ignore the letter H when reading English words inside our own heads, now add a French or Spanish ‘r’ into the mix and well, this is un ‘orse:

DPXDC CFAU Headcanon: Ghostspeak Edition

Ghosts in the Infinite Realms who saw Jason and Danny together called them "luzdra", a term in ghost speak that directly translates into the words "shared soul". It's literal definition is; "two ghosts with a bond so deep that it was as if they had split their souls in half and given one to the other", but in general it just means two ghosts with a profound, indescribable bond.

Luzdrus is the singular form of the word, and refers to only one ghost in the bond. While "luzdra" is plural and either refers to both of them together, or the relationship as a whole. It depends on the context of the conversation and who they're saying it to.

There is no romantic, platonic, or familial connotation behind the word. It just means "someone who shares a deep bond with someone" and can be between anyone.

It also does not mean soulmate, and if you say that you'll be corrected. Soulmates implies that their bond was destined by the universe, luzdra are two people who developed and built that bond themselves. It's a relationship forged between two (or more) people.

Some of Danny's rogues -- like Kitty and Johnny, who might've seen the two together and are possibly luzdra themselves -- still call him 'luzdrus' even after Jason's disappearance from the Zone. Danny doesn't know how to feel about it.

it hurts so bad to know that everyone ostracized percy as soon as poseidon claimed him. knowing he couldn't control who his dad was. it hurts even more upon realizing that a lot of the older campers knew of and/or heard of thalia, a big three kid who gave her life to protect her friends and big three kid who zeus ordered to stand protecting the camp in the final moments of her death. and by shunning percy. welcoming whatever fate the gods bestowed upon him without a care. and the worst of all is we learn that at least some, if not all, of the head counselors in tlo were campers who knew of the great prophecy long before and during percy's time at camp.
