Now that I have some distance from the Teen Wolf Movie, I've decided that my least favorite part was the character assassination of Scott.

1. Why is he not a vet?!?! He worked hard for that. He deserved that. He would have been an epic veterinarian! Why is he not explicitly Dr. McCall? Why is he not responding to 'are you an alpha?' with 'i'm a veterinarian' when our latest teen wolf asks the obvious question?!

2. Why is he in contact with no one but Deaton? This man lived and breathed pack relationships, okay. He literally went on a cross-state roadtrip with his currently estranged best friend on the possibility that he could bring back his possibly psycho fox girlfriend who left to protect them. But nah, he just left Beacon Hills 12 years ago and never calls his best friend or his beta.

3. Scott went out of his way to save his friends (including Derek) and his enemies. But he let Derek make the sacrifice play? In front of his son? Scott who's father left? Nah. Don't buy it. And he 100% wouldn't have taken Eli out of Beacon Hills in such an unlikely scenario either imo.

4. I know the point was Scallison, but would it have killed them to give Scalia a nod. Have them mention what happened? Have her ask his advice on Parrish maybe? We got the explanation for Stydia and Stiles wasn't even there.

If you're gonna give me lonely, isolated, and packless Scott McCall... you have to explain how he became that person because that was the exact opposite of how we left things.

after derek and scott managed to find boyd and cora in the bank vault, the younger hale life’s changed. she had stumbled back into her childhood best friend’s life and this time she was there to stay.

[name] morrell, teen daughter of the dedicated veterinarian deaton morrell, nursed her back to health. mainly, because cora was stubborn and only wanted you to tend her wounds since you were the only person that she could completely trust.

due to your parents being good friends, you were obliged to at least be acquaintances with the young hale girl, which ensured a very healthy friendship.

from a young girl, your father had taught you about the supernatural and their weaknesses, what to except from each species. you were exceptionally close to werewolves, figuring that your childhood best friend was born one.

on an unexpected tuesday afternoon, stiles stormed into the vet with cora who was severely injured with a bruised eye and bleeding above her right eyebrow. during the times of interaction between you and cora, her facial features remained solemn and quiet, leaving her eyes to study your movements. those three months that cora spent in the bank vault drove a huge wedge between the two of you, causing the werewolf to put back up her walls, even around you. she was highly cautious around the mccall pack, still warming up to the idea of the friend group.

the black eye was disappearing due to the temperature of the frozen peas with the major help of her healing abilities.

you would try to make small talk, but your plan wavered back on itself until she hesitantly opened her mouth, “i appreciate you nursing me back to health, [name].”

stopping to timidly look the wolf in her eyes, you give her a warm grin. “anything to help out a friend, cora, besides you wouldn’t let anyone else come near you.”

upon your statement, her firm lips stringed together in a small smile. then silence filled the atmosphere once again as you continued to remove the blood from her right temple with a cloth.

“now do you wanna tell me what happened?”

“you do know that i can heal, right.” she tried to change the subject. cora’s eyebrows furrowed in mixture of stupidity and questioning – clearly not directed at you.

“we both know, yet, here you are letting me help.” you replied as you threw the bloody cloth in the nearby trash bin. “stop avoiding the question, cora.”

frantically her eyes darted all over the place, trying to come up with an reasonable lie to get herself out of this situation. she released a defeated sigh once she realized that she couldn’t intimidate herself out of this and had to be completely honest with you.

“i was wondering…if you wanted to go on a date with me sometime.…”

“just the two of us?”

“is that not what a date is?” cora exasperated with a small smile. “or would you rather your friends following us like a lost pack of puppies?”

“is cora hale growing soft on me?” you feigned shock.

“in your dreams, morrell.” she scoffed, hopping off of the metal desk, standing tall on her feet.

“do i have an answer to that date or not?” the brunette girl looks at you reluctantly, anticipating on a reply. the truth is that cora was actually nervous around you. well, from ever since you met, the young werewolf was surprisingly shy and was

i know! cora hale and nervous shouldn’t be in the same sentence. almost like she was amenable towards you, blissfully unaware of her blooming feelings for you.

it felt like forever until you finally spoke up with a pleaser smile. “sure, you remember our old hangout.”

she manages to mirror the smile back. “how could I forget?” staring into each other's eyes lovingly for a moment, being completely comfortable with the silence.

“great, pick me up at six!” you kissed her cheek, noticing how her cheek turns crimson red.

I can’t stop think about what I would have done with the Teen Wolf movie if I were the one writing the story, so I thought I’d write it down. (Also, I’m at work and I am VERY bored.)

Now, this is assuming the same cast is available, BUT not that they would be used. It also leaves in a couple of plot and character points that weren’t entirely garbage.

Derek is not married, but Eli does have a mother: Braeden. She and Derek hooked up, one thing led to another, aaaaaand baby. She’s still off doing her thing, but Derek has custody, and they have a good relationship. Derek still has money, so he focuses on Eli and his “consulting” work. He doesn’t date, but he mentions Eli’s mom might be in town that weekend and Eli jokes, “You want me to give you two some privacy?” because every time they see each other they inevitably end up sleeping together. Derek throws a dish towel at him and tells him to finish his Frosted Flakes.

Scott is now a veterinarian working with Deaton. The two have moved out of the old office, but they’re working in a bigger vet hospital in Beacon Hills. Scott returned to make the town a base for his pack after they were able to cut down Monroe’s forces to a respectable minimum. Scott is married to (let’s call her) Emily, a wolf who came to Beacon Hills looking for the true alpha and found this big sweet brave guy. They have two daughters, middle-school-aged or so, and they have Scott wrapped around their little fingers.

Chris and Melissa are married. Melissa is still a nurse (because there’s nothing wrong with staying a nurse, and promotion doesn’t mean a stepping stone to doctorhood) and Chris travels to do weapons consulting for movies and TV shows. They still live in Beacon Hills because Chris is having an absolute *blast* being Grandpa Chris with little girls climbing all over him, which Melissa finds adorable.

Lydia and Stiles broke up sometime in college, because of course they did, but they still remain close. He texts often, maybe even more than he texts Scott (which is a LOT). She is single, mostly because she loves her work, which is the same as in the movie. However, she’s been using her screams in her research, and she’s gotten even better with them. That muscle definitely hasn’t atrophied. She keeps in contact with Scott and the pack in Beacon Hills and comes when needed.

Stiles is still in the FBI. He’s working at the time the movie is occurring so he can’t return to help with the big bad. He does however text almost as if he’s there. (He can’t FaceTime because you can’t FaceTime while on a stakeout, jeez, Scott.) God knows he knows everybody else so well he keeps texting almost the exact right thing at any given moment. Derek starts wondering if Stiles bugged the Argent/McCall house. Chris says no, but even he peeks around just in case.

Parrish has grown stronger with his hellhound abilities with practice over the years. He works with the fire department either along with or after leaving the sheriff’s department. Malia works with her hands in construction or something like it. She started fixing people’s homes after fights, plastering over bullet holes or replacing windows, and it turned out she was good at it. Malia and Parrish are banging. They think they’re being subtle. They’re really not.

Noah retired. He started writing out of boredom and he’s written several urban fantasy novels that are just stuff that happened in Beacon Hills with the serial numbers filed off. He eats a lot more junk food now that Stiles is gone. Stiles calls everyday and still somehow knows exactly what he’s doing or eating. Noah is pretty sure Stiles didn’t bug his house. *Definitely* sure. Yeah, definitely. Um.

Eli has hobbies and friends. He’s artistically inclined and is getting better at photorealistic work. His best friend knows about the supernatural but is human. He’s always getting Eli into trouble with him, mostly because they want to help when bad things happen. Everyone is *very* aware of who he reminds them of. Eli has a HUGE crush on him. Derek decides to pretend he doesn’t notice, because there is not enough headache medication in the world.

Mason works as a deputy. Liam does live and work in Japan. When Liam comes to town, they actually talk to one another. No, really. Full sentences and everything.

Jackson is the same except he brought Ethan. They are very cute.

Allison does not come back. She is dead and that would be silly.

The pack is still very tight. Even those who’ve moved away keep in contact with Scott or someone else in the pack. We have smartphones, for Pete’s sake, it’s not hard. And with everything that went on … well, it helps to stay in touch in case problems arise. There’s a therapist in Beacon Hills who’s pack. They’ve all gone to her at some time or another to deal with *gestures at everything*. It’s helped a lot.

People in Beacon Hills have come to accept more openly that the town’s rife with supernatural beings. It’s one of those things where no one outright says anything, but also once Scott went out into the crowded waiting room and asked for “Wolfie” and there was this incredibly awkward silence with everyone trying not to make eye contact with him before someone coughed and a guy carried up a tiny yet vicious Chihuahua.

People start seeing characters who died during the series. Not just Allison, but Kate, Boyd, Erica, Mrs. Argent, etc. They’re … off. Unsettling, not threatening. The rest of the plot can spring from that, but the starting point is getting to see old faces, but knowing this is *not* them. (EDIT: I just realized I put Kate, but no, you know what, that’s part of it, whatever it is that’s doing this doesn’t know she came back.)

Summary:

When it began, it was subtle. Dreams within dreams that felt real, his awake moments less real than the time spent asleep. Dreams where he was with Lydia - sleeping, sitting at lunch, driving somewhere vitally important.

Why was he with Lydia? Were they together? When and how did it happen? When he asked himself these questions, the answers simply came and that felt like enough, even if the answers were nonsensical.

After a while, he didn’t feel the need to question the why anymore.

This is a pre-slash, canon divergent story that looks at Stiles' possession by the Nogitsune from his point of view with a moment before the confrontation at the loft in which Derek agrees to host the Nogitsune in exchange for Stiles' life.

“I'm Stiles, this is my best friend in the entire world, stepbrother, and co-owner, Scott McCall - Scottie, I’m so happy you could join us today!  Scott’s a veterinarian, too, so he doesn’t have all the time in the world, and we’re so happy when he can join us!  And to my left is my sister-from-another-mister Erica Reyes, fellow shopkeeper, fellow knitter, Super Friend!”

Taking a deep breath, Stiles turned to Scott and said, “So, what did you do this weekend Scott?"

For just a moment, Scott looked like he’d been caught doing something that he wasn’t supposed to do. “Um, yeah, Ali and I went out again.  She’s amazing.  And I met her dad, who is terrifying, and his husband, who sort of looked like he wanted to eat me?”

“Well, you are sexy in a lifetime friends sort of way,” Stiles commented, Erica nodding her head in agreement.  “So why the look that you’d been caught?  We love Ali!  She’s been coming here for years; it’s about time you two started dating.”

Looking at the camera, Erica said, “They’ve been mooning disgustingly over each other forever.”

“Like you’re not naming our sale codes after Boyd,” Scott countered, smiling with affection.

“Don’t avoid the question, Scottie.  You know I’ll drag it out of you eventually,” Stiles said.

“Well, the easiest way to meet both her dad and stepdad was - well, see, Peter, her stepdad ..”

“Peter Hale, folks, famous vintner behind Wolf’s Head Wines and SUUUUPER loaded,” Stiles supplied.

“Yeah, him.  He hangs out at his nephew’s store a lot.” Scott replied, looking at his hands, which he was wringing underneath the table.

“His nephew being Derek Hale?  The same Derek Hale who runs The Hale Yarn Company?” Erica challenged, looking aghast.

“It’s not like you haven’t been there a hundred times, what with Boyd working there,” Scott argued back.

“Yes, but you said, and I quote, ‘I will never step foot in The Hale Yarn Company,’ and then Stiles said that was ridiculous, that you could go wherever you wanted, and then you said that Claudia had a good reason for not liking them even though no one knows what that reason was and also that it was in Cottonwood Valley and Cottonwood Valley makes you feel like you should buy a better car and they only have Whole Foods for groceries which is way too expensive and no good fast food...”

“Which, folks, means that they don’t have Panda Express,” Stiles interrupted.

“Panda Express is the bomb,” Scott mused with a smile.

“It’s all about the orange chicken,” Stiles contributed.

My #1 post of 2022

For my birthday in September an anonymous gifter bought me a commission from @seanchaidh7!  Here it is! (I couldn’t be more thrilled with it - look at how beautiful they are!  Look at the lighting in the hall!  Look at their beautiful expressions! Ashley is AMAZING in every way!!)

This art is based on Chapter 15 of my ongoing Sterek COVID roommates fic, The Great Bi Awakening:

And Derek was now fully facing Stiles and they'd stepped closer to each other.

"Yeah?" breathed Stiles as Derek looked at his lips again and then looked Stiles in the eyes.

Derek nodded.

Stiles - he just couldn't think.  Because Derek Hale was beautiful.  The most beautiful person to have ever been created.  And Derek Hale opened up to him and would rip his soul out for Stiles if he thought that was what it took to help Stiles.  And Stiles would do the same in a second.   Immediately.

And that's when Stiles realized it, fully and completely and without a doubt.  That's when he knew that this is what it feels like - this, here, with Derek - this is what it feels like to love someone.  Wholly and completely and without reservation. The opening up and the vulnerability and the trust and the safety, it was love.  And having a past with a person, and being best friends with them.  And picking out their furniture and them holding you when you cry and then wiping  the snot off of your face in the still of the night.   This was love.

He was in love with Derek Hale.  And he was pretty damn sure that Derek Hale was in love with him.

His lips were so close, and when Stiles looked up, Derek was staring in his eyes.  He looked so impassioned and open and  ready .  Like he wanted to move in closer but he just couldn't move those last few inches.

So Stiles did it for him.

THE RUNDOWN

Everything about Scott remains canon up to the second season of Teen Wolf. As for a little background...

Scott was never the type to have grand ambitions for his life. He had always been loyal and loving to his mom and the very few friends that he's ever made (one, to be exact). He was the loser up until he was bitten and turned into a werewolf, and as much as he struggled with control the first few years, he had learned to be much better at it later on.

He has a strong sense of loyalty to those he cares about, and has found that with great power, well, comes the great need to use it for good. Scott is the type to go out of his way to protect those that need it, and he does what he can to make sure no harm comes to those that cannot protect themselves.

Over the years, he had stayed in Beacon Hills and proceeded to continue on with his love for animal care, an art he had been introduced to early on in his life. Running an animal rescue with his long-lasting teacher and mentor who runs the veterinary clinic next to the shelter, but he never forgets his responsibility as a werewolf.
