the "decolonize Palestine" bullshit is just making this whole thing last longer. you are calling for ethnic cleansing of a native population. you are calling for a destruction of 4000 years of Jewish existence, and most importantly, you are spewing a narrative that leads to the death of thousands. "Decolonize Palestine from Jews" is a fucking bullshit lie.
you are supporting a fucking lie. Delegitimizing the Jewish connection to the land and changing fucking history is causing active harm.
YOU ARE LITERALLY ENCOURAGING AN ETHNIC CLEANSING OF JEWS IN THE GUISE OF OBJECTING AN ETHNIC CLEANSING OF PALESTINIANS.
and for the fucking brain dead, the only fucking solution is not eradicating Palestinian presence or making millions of Jewish refugees, it is creating a place where both peoples get to live together in safety.
That piece of "Israel is just a European colonial settler imperialistic state that stole Palestine" bullshit is just that, bullshit. Palestine was never an independent state, the Palestinians never had a fucking state, get it through your fucking mind. Should they get a state? SURE! did they refuse one again and again because the idea that Jews will have their state was considered unreasonable?
YES!
Did Jordan an Egypt prevented Palestine from becoming by annexing land between 1948-1967?
ALSO YES!
is there a fucking imbalance?
YES
are the Palestinians just innocent victims of the big bad Zionists?
NO!
Palestinians are part of this story, and if they will not take accountability for their behavior in the last 106 years, nothing will be solved!
the only fucking solution is for both sides to take accountability! AND I MEAN IT!
This is not a fucking colonizer vs. colonized situation! this is two natives fighting over who gets to live in the fucking house!
NON OF IT IS FUCKING OK!

As with the Church, the damage is neither accidental nor incidental. It's how vulnerability, and therefore ideological dependence, are sustained.

what a whiplash going to see my 2016 tumblr dash (as linked in that last post) and getting slapped in the face w full blown ace discourse 😭😭😭
#i was an exclusionist too lmao i was so pissed as if hordes of cishet aces were coming to Invade Our Spaces?????? CRINGE#i still have beef w the split attraction model when non-aspec ppl use it ON BI SUBREDDITS CONSTANTLY TO DISCOURAGE ANY SELF-REFLECTION#like telling newly out bi's their internalized homo/biphobia is just an inborn trait that cant be helped so dont bother looking into it :)#thats more of a personal pet peeve than anything though#honestly the whole discourse was so stupid and the fake stories and moral panic coming from it was ridiculous#u kno whats real and can be trusted? peoples own experiences and interpretations of themselves. and that needs to be respected and accepted#i got so fed up w the dehumanizing and circlejerky nature of the exclusionist side. not to mention the victimhood complexes and the#black and white thinking that were being normalized by the entire discourse. and the essentialist thinking and public shaming#identities are not inherently above examination and there needs to be a balance between inclusion and exclusion in any context#bc both have negative and positive sides when applied to any group or identity. it should be approached w common sense#i wanna veer away from any generalizations and approach things on a case by case basis#but when it comes to someones personal identity and their lived experience. thats none of my business whatsoever#no matter what. basic respect is believing ppl when they say who they are. thats the bare minimum of interpersonal acceptance#fighting against that in order to uphold some us vs them dynamic is straight up awful#if you cant respect someone bc you cant personally understand their experience youre stuck on the wrong thing#you shouldnt need to relate to someone in order to treat them w kindness and empathy#if you need to find someone relatable to accept their validity then youre not genuinely someone accepting of differences

Im rereading nona and i am baffled anew by people who listen to jod recount every single agonizing step in his slow and terrible descent and are like, "wow John was always an awful irredeemable liar and his reluctance to admit that he set off the nukes was not, in fact, him struggling to accept the magnitude of how completely and terribly he failed and became the very person he was trying to stop, but was just another calculated lie because he's a Bad Man. if it were me i would have simply not done that." I have to assume these are the same people who read "**When our backs are against the wall and everything is falling apart we rarely become heroes" and were like "huh i wonder who thats for"
**approximate quote from memory because I cannot for the life of me find the exact excerpt but it was one of Wake's "letters" that only Harrow could read while they were in the bubble
#people get very defensive about this too like if you even imply that john's actions were individually understandable#or that the person he is in harrow the ninth is different from the person he was 10000 years prior immediately after the world ended#or if you suggest that sometimes. a person can be genuinely and truly traumatized by a tragedy of their own making.#and being traumatized is not a mark of moral correctness or victimhood but a neutral reality of human psyche separate from morality#or and this is a big one#suggest they consider genuinely what they would do at each step of that journey#and dont take Well I simply woudl not have nuked the earth or#Well he's a liar so most of that was probably a lie anyway#as an answer#well#people dont like that lol#john being indefensible seems to be so important to people#that to suggest that John's downfall is an interesting and compelling study in how a person with good intentions can still end up the bad g#this will immediately be taken as Defending Him or Justifying His Actions and they will get Quite Upset#i know its asking a lot for people to appreciate the moral complexity of a well written villain who isn't like. a sexy meow meow or whateve#but it just amuses and annoys me#how people desperately need to flatten the complexity of this series#this is probably the reason why people who like TLT then turn around and recommend the shittiest books ever written as comparable#generally on the basis that they are both about Sword Lesbians#which is like. true on a superficial level.#But like. TLT is about sword lesbians in the same way that EEAAO is about a lady doing her taxes#these tags are longer than the post sorry lmao. i have Opinions about these books.

I'm pretty sure that most of the people non-locals in that Netflix docuseries about the earthquake on Mt. Everest have no idea what gigantic assclowns they are...especially that thieving bastard Yaar. Fucking hell...
youtube
It was fairly easy not to give a shit about any of the tourists and concentrate solely on the stories of the locals.

I just found this account from 8 years ago. Every post I wrote is about pain, heartbreak, suffering, and the idea that it would never end. I was only 15.
I’m 23 now, and there’s still pain, heartbreak, and suffering. But there’s also healing and learning and growing and smiling and dancing with your friends and closing the door after hanging out with a boy and cuddling your pets and driving to a really good song.
There’s so much more I didn’t see when I was 15 because I thought struggling mentally meant I was a victim, and that I should act like it. I still feel like a victim sometimes, but I also feel strong, wise, brave, intelligent, generous, empathetic, and proud.

no but it's insane that there are people on here with the ability to say "ozai's abuse of azula is harder to spot because it doesn't leave physical scars (that we know of) and that is part of what's so insidious about it" but not the ability to realize that ursa is also guilty of not realizing azula is being abused both because the abuse is easier for ozai to hide and because she and zuko are being abused in a much more obvious way (to ursa). like... yeah no you're not gonna protect the child you a) don't realize needs protection, b) have been pit against by the nature of your husband's abuse, and c) have been rejected by because you have treated her poorly on account of not having wanted to have children at all and her being encouraged to imitate your rapist and abuser's behaviors.
sorry, but the fact of the matter is that the fn royal family's dynamic is complex and nuanced because of the way in which ozai abuses his unwilling wife and kids, not because ursa is some horrible abuser. you can go touch some grass now.

a reminder that in my interpretation, rhea and da3mon had hurt each other an equal amount in their early years of marriage. this is not the case where one person has a particular power advantage over the other. to add to that, i do not think either of them raised a hand - although things may have been thrown, and they fought incessantly until they discovered that avoiding one another was best.

so tired of the variety of online discourse that compels people to go "if the genders were swapped then people would be acting differently!!!" when literally the vast majority of takes are agreeing with them
you see it on nearly AITA thread where a dude is the victim of an asshole woman partner or something similar and it's like. buddy so few people are arguing against you that you're derailing your own point.

I miss empowerment.
People who've made their purported victimhood into their entire identity despise people who are further down the intersectional ladder saying they're not oppressed, because it gives their own game away.

Ugh the way fanon Jason calling Tim replacement v.s. canon Jason calling Tim pretender flattens Jason's motivations and the whole Jason and Tim relationship. 'Replacement' directs all of Jason's anger to Bruce. It makes Tim and Jason allies in victimhood. 'Here is this callous man that views us as interchangeable, can't you see that we're nothing to him?' 'Pretender' though... that holds Tim accountable for his role in making Jason's death meaningless. 'You saw everything I was, all that I gave, and you used it as a springboard to become what I should have been' is a lot more complex, and a lot more thematically accurate to Jason's whole deal. It's a larger gap for the characters to bridge, especially when Tim is coming from the perspective that his becoming Robin was not only right, it was necessary.

People treating the WCK workers getting killed like it's some unprecedented flashpoint that's going to finally get israel condemned by the International Community™️, lol seriously grow tf up. 30,000+ Palestinians are dead along with hundreds of UN workers, journalists, and foreign aid workers you haven't heard about at all. 7 mostly white NGO workers getting killed by the zionist entity isn't "unprecedented" or uniquely awful unless you think these their deaths and victimhood matter more than all of the faceless dead brown people who have already died in droves. If Rachel Corrie getting flattened by the IOF wasn't enough to make the US put the breaks on unconditional support for their genocidal settler colony no amount of proximity to whiteness or the NGO industrial complex is going to matter. Stop looking for ideal victims and support the ongoing, armed resistance to the occupation.

ugh anthy is so good. nearly every single other story I've seen about a Mysterious and Tragic teenage girl has failed in some way either because the writer forgot to give the character complexity and an internal life, or because the tragic things in her life were far too aestheticized to have real teeth. anthy succeeds as a character largely because the whole story is dedicated to deconstructing an aestheticized view of her & her suffering, and also showing how that aestheticized view dehumanizes her and denies her agency. she is not a harmless victim or a beautifully agonized one - she is a teenage girl who is reacting in realistic, complex ways to a lifetime of crushing systemic abuses. and similarly, every teenage girl around her is also reacting in complex ways to their own suffering under patriarchy.
depiction of sad teenage girls often posit their pain as a natural phenomenon, something that is just intrinsic to girlhood. adding a layer of mystique onto them just further serves to obfuscate the sources of teen girl suffering. instead, teenage girl pain becomes palatable. consumable, even. #aesthetic. these depictions are unthreatening because, by their nature, they cannot depict societal issues in a way that would demand a restructuring of society. we can posit a familial tragedy but not a tragedy of the family structure. we can lament a beautifully mentally ill sufferer but not the systems of wellness and community that failed her. et cetera. nothing can ever hold up an uncomfortable mirror, only a flattering one.
revolutionary girl utena directly says that that idea is bullshit and that its teenage girls are suffering as a direct result of entrenched systematic oppression. and in that uncomfortable honesty, it's able to be WAY more authentically hopeful with its sad teenage girls. anthy is able to finally walk out of the society that trapped her and live freely of the image that was constructed around her! she can be a flawed human girl who is still going to be happy with her girlfriend! her victimhood is not eternal and does not mean she can never find happiness! A TEEN GIRL DOES NOT HAVE TO STAY IN A COFFIN IN ORDER TO DESERVE COMPASSION!!!!
