i wish nctzen in general supports doyoung solo😔. It pains me to stream the MV but it barely moves. But i know i can’t really blame them. I read a number of dppus on x loves to say nctzen are dy hater but solo stanning asides, i think they really just don’t vibe with the music. In 127 case it’s heavily centred around hip-hop, rnb, & edm, so dy’s genre is really far off. Same case with yuta. It would be nice tho if they just supports all members at least just by watching the mv once. Just my wishful thinking. Huu what to do cause dy himself know it’s not a trendy genre even among koreans. I guess i just need to accept this (Dy, i think you need to do sad, depressing song. It always hits better but then, that would be against his wish to spread hope isn’t it hhh)

The MV thoooo. I love the storyline so much. It’s significantly better than Little Light. I find the previous one quite boring and straightforward but this!! It gives another layer to the song and i love this for non korean fans cause it’s definitely hard to understand the context behind korean lyrics. So they have another thing to dissect and deep dive into.

I agree, watching a new MV at least once of each member's solo/duet should be a cultural norm in a fandom of a group. And it seems to be the norm in many other fandoms, heck, Hybe fandoms often support all groups only because they belong to the same lable as their own biases. Alas, nctzens are known for not being very united. Evenso, the Memory view count remains too low for the size of NCT fandom. There are plenty of solo-stans, but there are also plenty of unit and even group stans. There are those who have Doyoung as a bias-wrecker, or like him because he is attentive to their bias. Additionally, there are k-pop fans who check out new releases. Not to mention Doyoung's own fans. Given all this, 700-900k is the very least an MV should gain in a couple of days. 12h ago it was 364k and now it is 365k. 1k in so many hours? Please...

Let's take Baekhyun's example. He is famous as the solo artist who sells the most albums (outside of BTS). His recent album sold 1mln+ in one week. His title track MV reflects it - 32mln (3 weeks). A number you usually see for Taemin, Taeyeon, Kai, and other popular solo artist with dedicated fanbases and interested gp. However, Baekhyun also released two full-track MVs: "Lemonade" and "Chocolate". 9 days and 246k, 3 days and 183k. How are the numbers so low? Where are his core fans who are eager to bulk buy to support him? At the very least it should be 400-500k.

Now, Riize. A groups whose members are at the top of brand rankings in SK. Even with the scandal they still have a sizeable fanbase as a young bg. TTs: "Bag Bad Back" 10mln and "Fly up" 47mln. However, the additional B-side MVs range from 485k to 760k. Again, where are the solo-stans of 6 boys. Do they have 100k per soul only? Seems unlikely.

Either YT doesn't count views from users with AdBlock on, or a lot of MVs are simply not promoted and not offered even for subscribers. It seems, YT changed it algorythm to pushing shorts and private channels more. So fans who don't keep a very close eye and watch some NCT or Doyoung content daily missed the release.

You are right about the genre. Also, not everyone likes Do's tone of voice, it's normal, too. Don't be discouraged! The views matter for music shows, this is the primary reason for streaming, and other artists should also get the same problems (if YT is to blame). Meaning, the playing field should remain even.

YES. YES. YES. YES. I read the boyfriends webtoon and it was literally FINE. Then I go on youtube and I see everyone unanimously DRAGGING IT THROUGH THE FUCKING MUD. And I’m… distraught!!!!

“It’s infantalizing men!!!” “It’s sexualizing men!!!” “The dialogue is disgusting and there is no plot!!!!” “The polyamorous relationship is unrealistic!!!”

It’s literally one of the only BLs on that godforsaken app THAT IS WRITTEN BY A QUEER MAN. They’re talking about the damn piece like it’s literally satan, when that’s not only every piece on webtoon but also the boyfriends webtoon was one of VERY FEW BLs that featured a polyamorous relationship in a positive light, AND ALSO followed the laws of consent.

I literally COULD NOT tell you how many popular pieces on that site are just sfw fetish pieces featuring two men written for and by women, and to the general public all of that garbage was fine, (which tbh I guess it is?) but here comes a man making his own garbage with more lighthearted themes than all these other webtoons and THAT’S the piece that everyone decides to crusade.

Like I don’t see anyone talking about what happened to That Awkward Magic or any of the other countless semi-successful webcomics, but I hear EVERYONE talking about Boyfriends just because it’s a queer lit piece that isn’t every single audience’s cup of tea. I see tons of videos of people moving the Boyfriends graphic novel at BNN into the horror section so that they can post it for views on tt, yt, insta… but then these same people refuse to critically discuss SVSSS or killing stalking (big genre jump there I know but those are the two big ones) or even jinx.

It makes me feel INSANE. The only critiques I’ll listen to about the comic anymore are those about the character’s races compared to their skin tones. Even then, chances are high those critiques are coming from someone who reads mass produced manhwa like it’s their only source of sustenance, and never discuss the colorism there. We need to stop dogpiling refrainbow they are just some random man.

I will literally never forgive the internet for what they did to refrainbow and his webtoon. people harass this man because his webtoon was a little cringe. and now I will never be able to read my comics about silly little gay boys in peace without someone being like “ohhhh!!! that’s problematic!!!!” bro let queer people write shit that doesn’t have an inherent message, we need trashy comfort content

This Russian speaking OP does the majority of fanmade promotional content on TikTok for the group, it seems.

My main group joined TikTok late, and it's hard to tell whether the site helps them gain fans, or not. SM still hasn't figured out how to work with TT, thereforem how viral will reels become mostly depends on idols themselves (and sometimes their managers who notice and offer trends/challenges to participate in, I guess).

XLOV does a good job of TT though. As the view numbers show. They go outside and film at a location, think at what angle it's better to shoot the choreo, choose latest viral things wisely. It's the first group I see (not that it says anything, I normally observe big4 groups) that can't go on YT/TV variety and talk shows, but manages to gain attention and without them.

I know low-tier popularity groups go on small personal k-pop YT-channels as their last resort to advertise themselves. It doesn't seem to help very much though.

XLOV are great at covers, however, they need to have their own music that will become popular. A lot depends on their upcoming titles. So far the group successfully re-imagines the songs they cover (remake choreos for 4, and invent new and memorable formations; use non-vocal line well, building their experience), which gives me hope. After dicsovering that XLOV has ties to E:NK World I worry less about them. That school-turned agency has some veterans in the industry (choreographers, vocal teachers, image makers) they can ask for help.

(i have a strong suspicion that all that follows describes a cringe and infantile problem to have as an adult and can be solved by turning on brain. unfortunately i cant seem to get better on my own ->) once again tried to start reading the news yesterday only to give up as usual after a couple hours.

preamble: i think tumblr dash isn't a great way to get news (maybe ok if you follow some people for the news specifically instead of getting a stream of politics from people you followed for lovely posts and fanart) but thats the main way that i accidentally get news since i dont really use other sm. i have a long-standing ambition of finding a reasonable way of getting news daily in under half hour.

i started typing out a long ass recount of yesterdays foray but realised thats unnecessary and doesnt even help me order thoughts much. sigh. i guess i just cant figure out if its even reasonable to expect to find a couple publications i can consistently rely on.

problem uno: choice. do i try looking for something as factual and un-opinionated as possible (<- if that exists)? do i try to find a couple semi-opinionated sources from different camps? that might be better for actually having conversations and, as a layman, understanding where things might go next. but surely there aren't many pairs that have opposing views on the vast majority of issues, and im bound to eng+rus language mostly so there's bound to be overlap so how do i choooooseeee (yea yea checking forums, compiling a list, then sticking with different sources, couple at a time, 2-3 weeks each. but that would take so long and im lazy and kinda dumb and it might not even produce an answer)

dos: should i care about the discourse? on one hand im just trying to be more educated with minimal effort. i dont even talk about politics outside drunken family dinners. on the other hand doesn't reading news without interacting with other people make it akin to reading a history book? discourse is news in and of itself and wields influence is insightful yada yada. after watching a few 10-20 minute vids on yt, it seems like facts are secondary if you wanna talk to people about shit. sources + interpretation that opposing sides can agree on are few and to juice those or breach the gaps u gotta know all the talking points. will my dad care about a un news article? doubtful. will i care about a guy talking on a us news panel? barely.

tres: pg internet. primary source nerf. the news sites i checked dont even link the footage they are referring to in the articles. genuinely all i want is primary source + trustworthy notes/additional info, if necessary. maybe they have some of that on high volume sm where things simply cant be banned immediately eg twt/insta/tt but ew. it seems like the way to go is 18+ telegram war channels with the most foul aged internet vernacular. i trust long-term-online middle-aged obsessed-with-war men on telegram more than most demographics when it comes to news. i can supplement with checking tumblr tags and it'll be balanced af. can everyone ask their dad what telegram channels hes using for news? i cant seem to orient myself in the scene

i think all war-related news should start with the most graphic content possible provided by both sides. especially interviews and debates. also speakers should be moderatly sedated. that would make things easier.
