Le Chat et Le Serpent - Chapter 3
Please note that the entirety of this story is a ****TRIGGER WARNING***** - mentions of child abuse, graphic violence, alcohol use, mental health, suicide, suicidal ideation, self-harm - basically a constant blow of pain towards the characters - as well as some "steamier" moments.
Chapter 3: A Late Birthday Card
You?
Plagg was thankful that Viperion, the only holder who knew Chat’s identity, was one of the few Miraculous' they had gotten back.
Luka had been in mid call when he saw Plagg zooming towards him without his holder. “Ladybug, something’s wrong, I need to go.” Viperion abruptly ended the call, leaving Ladybug in a panic.
“What are you waiting for? Let’s go!” Plagg yelled before he had reached Viperion. Seeing Plagg meant that something had gone seriously wrong with Adrien. Leaping from building to building Viperion hoped for an explanation, but Plagg was too flustered to speak.
Plagg had lost countless holders earlier than their time. But this one was different. He cared for Adrien in a way unique from all the others. Adrien didn’t take the Kwami for granted, or become obsessed with the power to the point of self destruction, he treated Plagg like family. There was no way he was giving him up.
Bursting through the door, Viperion fought to wade through his shock. Gabriel was shaking on all fours as the missing Miraculouses floated beside him. Nathalie’s knees slipped in blood as she struggled to hold Adrien.
“Here, let me,” Viperion leaned to pick up Adrien, who's mouth sputtered blood upon the shift.
“I didn’t know who else to call! He can’t be found here!” Nathalie wailed.
Shooting his eyes to Gabriel, his vision began to blur. The Miraculous' were connected to him. He had willingly tried to kill his son. After all these years of torture, he finally went to finish the job. A gurgle broke Viperion's rage, he could find Gabriel after, right now, he needed to save Adrien.
Before Viperion reached the sliding hospital doors, medical staff had begun to run towards him, Adrien’s wounds harrowingly evident. As the light shone over Adrien, his green eyes contrasted the red that smeared across his face.
“You?” Adrien cryptically questioned with a brief moment of consciousness.
A Late Birthday Card
“You probably won’t be interested, but Rose needs to see her doctor again today,” Juleka mumbled to Luka.
Luka’s eyes greyed, after all this time, how could Juleka think he didn’t care for Rose? “What’s going on, is she okay?”
“Just a regular check-up,” the lingering in her voice alerted Luka that there was mischief behind her words.
“I thought you might be open to driving…”
Raising his eyebrow, he responded with caution. “Of course, anything I can do to help.”
“Good, we were worried about how close her room was to Adrien’s,” her eyes bounded up to watch his reaction. She loved how the mere mention of Adrien’s name sent him into a tizzy. Her mischievous grin gleamed as Luka nearly somersaulted trying to put his shoes on.
“Really, you’re going like that?” Juleka sniggered, gesturing to all of him.
“Wh-what do you mean?” His calm demeanor had been officially eradicated by the possibility of seeing the PrettyBoy.
“Okay guys, let’s go!” Rose squeaked, holding her jacket by the door.
As Juleka went to put her arm around the bubblegum blonde, Luka followed frantically. “What do you mean? What’s wrong? Is there something on my face?”
Approaching the car, Rose snickered, “you’re so mean Jules!”
While he opened the car door for Juleka and Rose, he stole a moment to scan his outfit. Rose leaned in before she sat next to Juleka, “sweetie, your shoes are on the wrong feet.” Juleka began cackling in the back.
-
Nathalie struggled to orient herself as she limped through the hospital. Even the simple task of reading signs was difficult, her mind too cloudy with the possibility of catastrophe. She had gone through great lengths to ensure that Adrien had not found out about his father's fate until she deemed it was safe(r). She knew that there were too many uncontrolled variables throughout the hospital, and she could not wait any longer to tell him.
Gabriel would have appreciated her thoroughness.
Bile raised in her throat at the loaded thought. She had reported Gabriel missing shortly after Adrien was admitted to the hospital. He wasn’t declared dead until weeks after, which aided to hide his villainous identity. Until they had found the weapon in his hand, his search was treated as a missing civilian in relation to the Papillion battle. His body was found in the observatory once the stench had begun to emanate.
She rubbed the gift she had brought for Adrien, hoping that it would bring some solace to the news of his father. Even though Gabriel had told her that he mentioned her in his note to Adrien, she didn’t know if Adrien would ever accept to be in the same room as her again. After all, she had attacked him on her own numerous times (as Mayura vs Chat Noir). Though her own conscience had begun to falter during the battle for the Miraculous, she always felt like Adrien was her family. She couldn’t fathom the pain he must endure knowing that the two people in the world that were there to help him grow, who helped him with his homework, who put Band-Aids on his scraped knees, had actively worked to destroy him.
“Nathalie?” Luka’s calm voice sent a shiver down Nathalie’s back.
“Hello, Luka,” she dipped her head. Her and Gabriel had learned Luka’s identity when Queen Bee had been Akumatized, but she wasn’t certain that he had made the connection.
“Why are you here?” His wording suggested that he did. She clung to the memory of Adrien’s blood over her arms as Viperion entered the manor. As he stood before her, she clung to hope that he would one day see below her mask of regrets.
“This,” Nathalie tapped the box.
“Have you told him yet?”
She swiftly shook her head. The shame she carried burned through her face as she fought back tears.
“He needs to know Nathalie.”
Meekly, she waved the letter from Gabriel.
“You’re telling him in a letter?” Luka sighed.
“I - I don’t know yet. He might hate me, what if I make things worse? If 'you know who' suddenly takes his place, it could put him in jeopardy.”
Luka had wanted an excuse to see Adrien, but this was not what he imagined when he finally got to revisit the boy who relentlessly took over his dreams. He might never be able to separate Luka’s face from the burden of bad news. Sighing, he realised that this was news that no one deserved to deal with alone. “I can bring it to him.” Nearly immediately he regretted his words.
Nathalie’s bottom lip trembled as she peered up towards the towering man, “are you sure that’s a good idea?”
“It’s better than you dropping it and running away.” Venom dripped from his denunciatory words.
“I understand,” she responded wearily, succumbing to her shame.
-
Luka’s feet turned to cement as he stood before Adrien’s door. The weight of the gift pulled on his soul. A soft voice crept from its hiding place within Luka’s unzipped sweater, “just breathe Luka, you’re doing the right thing.”
“Probably can’t call for a second chance for this, hey?” Luka whispered back.
The green Kwami shook his head.
Barley knocking, Luka announced himself, “hey, is it okay if I come in?”
Out of habit, Plagg jumped into hiding. Adrien gave a simple “yes” to hide the panic that was began to battle its way out at the sound of Luka's voice. In an attempt to prolong the loss of control over his heart, he did not watch Luka step in. He kept spinning his ring to avoid the overbearing thoughts that Luka kept seeing him at his most vulnerable; and now, he was in Adrien’s private hospital room, with no one to break the tension.
Recognizing the visitor, Plagg flew from his hiding place. “Ooo you brought a gift!”
Adrien’s eyes snapped up to the black gift wrapped in a bright green ribbon. Well that’s thematic.
“Oh, it’s not from me.” Luka slightly pushed the gift away, as if increasing the space between himself and the box would somehow differentiate himself from the gift.
“Perhaps we should give our holders a moment,” Sass suggested to Plagg, who had started to pry at the box.
“But it’s just wrapped so beautifully, and the smell…” Plagg’s voice trailed as his nose began to raise.
“Plagg!” Sass hissed.
Irritated by everyone’s lack of infatuation with the gift, Plagg gripped the present from where the ribbons met. Akin to a drone drop, he let it fall on Adrien’s lap. The entire interaction had frozen Adrien’s mouth agape. Growling, Plagg returned to Luka’s eyeline. “I hate this gushy stuff.”
Adrien’s heart monitor echoed the same panic as Luka, but it was quickly abated by Plagg hugging Luka’s face. “Thanks for saving him.”
“Wha…?” Adrien struggled to finish his word as he succumbed to his bewilderment.
Plagg, exasperated from fluff, darted back to the gift. “Yeah, Luka saved you, get over it and open your present!”
Caressing the perfectly tied silk bow, Adrien wondered if that was the only reason he had taken an interest in him. It would explain how he knew his identity. “Thank you,” He mumbled.
“The gift is from Nathalie.”
“Oh, you two know each other?” Unease built within his throat at the thought of Luka being in cahoots with Nathalie and Gabriel.
“No, I only really talked to her twice. Today being the second.”
The first being the day that you somehow saved me.
“She,” Luka continued with lowered eyes, “she was the one who sent for help, and I was the one who answered.”
“Oh,” Adrien was aware that Luka knew, but the confirmation that he had witnessed Adrien’s most traumatic moment was overwhelming nonetheless.
Adrien lifted the card, immediately recognizing his father’s penmanship. “Did she say anything about him?” He flicked the card up to Luka, the only information available was Adrien’s name elegantly scripted on the front.
“That’s from Gabriel?” Luka pulled the letter closer, confused. He had assumed Nathalie had used the letter to write what she couldn’t gather the strength to say to his face.
“Why do you seem surprised? It’s not like he would visit.” The truth extended beyond Papillion. Prior to this, the only reason Gabriel would visit would have been to tell Adrien how disappointed he is about missing modelling shoots.
“Maybe your answer will be in here.” Luka handed back the envelope.
“PLEASE open the present first!” Plagg pulled at the ribbon.
“Fine, Plagg!” Though his volume sounded irritated, his tone was softened by a gentle laugh.
Luka watched Adrien’s heart rate rise as he read the note on top, constantly waiting for the ball to drop.
Happy Birthday
To the strongest man I know.
You may be 18 now, but you have been an adult for far longer than you should have been.
Love,
Nathalie.
“What do you think it’s going to be Plagg?” Adrien asked, ribbing his impatient Kwami.
“Argh, just open it or I’ll destroy the paper myself!”
“But it could be a bomb, a feather, or a stinky sock? A stinky sock would explain the smell.”
Luka chuckled at their playfulness, inadvertently reminding Adrien that he was there. In an attempt to get Luka closer, Adrien patted the bed for him to sit. Without a second thought, Luka stepped out of his shoes and pulled himself onto the bed. Realising the boldness of his move he stuttered as he offered to grab his shoes, but was waved off by Adrien.
“The closer you are, the easier you can help me if there does happen to be a weapon in here,” Adrien teased.
Luka contentedly narrowed the space between them. He found a practised calming response as he mirrored Adrien’s position. Luka often spent time on his own bed with his legs crossed in the very same “easy pose” to re-centre himself. Sass instinctually sat upon Luka’s knee, setting himself inches away from the gift that was causing Plagg to flip.
“At least it looks bigger than a pen,” Luka gently joked, remembering Adrien’s friends speak about the dreaded yearly Agreste industry pen.
“IT’S NOT A WEAPON, OR A PEN! PLEASE!” Plagg bounced.
“Must be a stinky sock, then,” Adrien announced as he pulled back the wrapping paper.
As soon as he removed the lid, he understood Plagg’s reaction to the gift. The familiar smell of cheese struck him as he saw the ribboned wheel of camembert. He wasn’t sure if Nathalie knew it was for Plagg, or if she just assumed that Adrien had really loved cheese from the amount that went missing from the fridge. Plagg didn’t even bother removing the ribbon before he started gorging himself. Having a mouth full gave him an excuse to stay silent; he had no idea what to say to Adrien. He had seen a lot of shit, but this was a whole different bag.
Adrien’s attention was immediately pulled to another small red gift box within. He assumed that, before the battle, this was his original gift. Pulling back the paper, he found a dark brown leather box, which opened to a gorgeous handcrafted watch with exposed gears. He still felt compelled to check for any tracking devices or other Gabriel signatures. As he inspected the watch he was taken away by its exquisite craftsmanship. Feeling satisfied, he strapped it around his wrist.
The additional gifts further proved his watch theory. Within the box sat: a new phone and SIM card, a few books of puzzles, and enough snacks to make a kid hit the roof. He graciously offered a bag of mini Oreos to Luka as he continued to flip through the assorted treats. Through the crinkling of bags, a bit of white seemed to flash from the bottom of the box. Pushing his hand past the piles of treats, he pulled at the paper - an unlabeled envelope. Still trepidatious, he carefully opened it, as if the speed at which he opened the seal would reduce any danger the envelope could hold.
This must be the moment , Luka thought to himself, gently squeezing Adrien’s knee.
“Well that’s certainly better than a pen.” Plagg momentarily lifted his head out of the hole he had created in the camembert.
Luka’s face contorted in horror. “Plagg!” He scorned.
Adrien’s dry fingers trembled at the contents of the letter. “No, he, he’s right, this is way better than a pen.”
Gaping at Adrien, Luka questioned whether he really knew anything about the man behind the mask. Trying to break the feeling of how small he felt in Luka’s gaze, Adrien revealed the contents of the envelope.
The envelope contained registration and insurance under Adrien’s name. Forgetting to breathe, he pulled up the circular black key with a winged symbol.
Still shaking, Adrien grabbed the key from Luka’s fingers and held it to his chest. “I have a car!”
Yeah, nothing takes the sting off of a father shooting himself in the head like a nice set of car keys.
Setting aside Nathalie’s gifts, Adrien ran his finger along his father’s envelope seal. Luka went to resume his hold on Adrien’s knee, only to realise it never left.
“My father… he used to care.” Adrien began, not ready to open the letter. Luka instinctively leaned closer as Adrien continued to let Luka see through his cracks. “When I was younger, he would even come out on bike rides with me, can you imagine Gabriel Agreste on a bike?” He laughed through his tears. “My mother used to talk about running away, but I couldn’t imagine leaving him, I could never let go of the man he used to be."
His tears turned to sobs. Not wanting Luka to see his distorted face, he pushed his forehead against Luka’s shoulder.
Luka gingerly rested his chin on Adrien’s golden hair, “it’s okay to be sad. He was one of, if not the, most important person in your life.” His sobs turned to heaves as he struggled for breath. A violent violin contrasted with a morose piano sung from Adrien's heart.
After Adrien had been able to compose himself to wipe some of the fluids off his face, he muttered a genuine apology. Luka pulled his chin up with a single finger so that he could stare into Adrien’s brilliant emerald eyes. The jewels were magnified under glistening tears. “Don’t apologise. I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t want to be.”
The violin began to calm, but the piano still played strong. Catching Luka by surprise, Adrien tugged at the blanket underneath. “You’re pulling it too tight,” he sniffled with an edge of humour. “This whole comforting me thing will be easier if you’re underneath the blanket.”
With a single nod, Luka slid under the blanket. Carefully avoiding the various cords that strung around Adrien, Luka pulled him in closer.
Adrien inhaled deeply, allowing himself to become lost in Luka’s warmth and alluring cologne. He sank deeply into Luka’s chest, so enveloped in the moment, he hadn’t noticed the teeth of Luka’s hoodie were scratching at his face.
Prior to this, Luka had been at an advantage. Adrien’s heartbeat was literally on display, whereas his anxious skips had been hidden under his layers. With Adrien’s hand on his side, and cheek pressed against his chest, Luka could not hide the way he made his heart race. Luka had dreamed about this since Adrien first stepped on his boat, he wouldn’t hand just anyone his guitar, afterall. Marinette had won his heart, but Adrien’s tune continued to claw through. Beyond being absolutely gorgeous, he was incredibly down to earth, caring, and nerdy in the best of ways. Even from afar, Luka joined the team in unbridled fury towards Gabriel’s possessiveness. Part of leaving Marinette meant giving up on ever being with Adrien. He knew their identities, he knew that they would be a far better paying than Luka with either of them. When he used to dream about this moment, he imagined them cuddling under the stars to the tune of a violin, or at least in his cozy bed.
Adrien’s head shifted further into Luka’s hold. Stifling a satisfied shudder, Luka decided that the comfort of Adrien’s strong heartbeat electronically emanating through the room would suffice in lieu of a violin.
The darkness within Adrien was lifted in Luka’s strong arms. Adrien hadn’t believed this moment would ever happen. Every time he tried to ask Luka to spend time with him, or confess his feelings, he became so nervous that his head began to throb. As he continued to crumble further into Luka’s intoxicating breaths, he wanted to tell him all the times he tried, all the times he desperately wanted to link his fingers within his. He wanted to tell him how he thought he was perfection personified. For the first time, though, Adrien’s words weren’t lost from nervousness. His favourite trait about Luka was his calming nature, but he underestimated how cataclysmic the difference was once he was in his arms.
Eyeing the heart monitor, Luka brushed a soft kiss on Adrien’s forehead. It gave Luka a great sense of satisfaction seeing Adrien’s heart skip a beat, but Adrien’s nuzzle told him more than the blipping green line could.
-
“Excuse me?” Nurse Jacquie poked Luka.
Luka’s eyes darted open, the ferocity almost pushed the Nurse off balance. Calming herself, she put a finger to her mouth for him to stay quiet, and motioned toward a cord hanging out of Adrien. The nurse knew it needed to be checked, but she did not want to wake the Agreste boy, this was the first night in his long stay that he had slept without a nightmare. Keeping Adrien as close as possible Luka angled the arm she needed so that she could ensure that his infection had gone down.
Barely noticing the nurse leaving, Luka admired Adrien in his arms. Waking up to Adrien was not how he imagined his day going. His ears began to perk as he noticed Adrien's heart monitor was beating in sync with his own. Relishing in the moment, he lightly kissed Adrien’s head once more.
Even with everything this man had been through, and with cords jumping out of him, he was easily the most attractive man in Paris. His shoulders and chest pushed back against the unflattering nightgown. Granted, he may be biased, since one of Adrien’s imperfectly perfect hands rested upon his side. Looking closer, he noticed that Gabriel’s letter was slightly pressed between them, it must have drifted from Adrien’s hand as he slept. Manoeuvring to catch a better glimpse, Adrien began to stir.
In an all too human way, Adrien smacked his lips together as he started breaking through the threshold of his dreams. The room seemed to light up as Adrien’s eyes opened.
“Hey, you’re still here.” He croaked.
“Of course,” Luka once again raised Adrien's chin. “There’s nowhere else I want to be right now.”
“Well… that might change once we see what’s behind door one,” Adrien lifted up the letter.
Instinctively, Luka sat up, helping Adrien do the same. To his surprise, Adrien shifted to the side to lean against his chest. Allowing his arms to surround Adrien, he supportively pressed his jaw against his temple.
Taking a deep inhale, Adrien opened up the envelope.

Once upon a time...
There was an elegant house with noble people They lived rich, rich in black hearts At the top of that mansion, there was a room, a room with a window, a window with a marvelous view, but it belonged to a lifeless room, a room where a person who loved too much was imprisoned, you, Oh, poor girl, she saw from her window everyone else being free, while she stayed and lamented not being good enough for her beloved, who is far away and with whom you can no longer converse, And all because her father is concerned about her status, so concerned that he didn't think twice before imprisoning his daughter, like Rapunzel in her tower.
"—And how is she doing?" Nino asked as he placed his hand on Adrien's shoulder, who was approaching the circle of friends.
—My father still says she's sick, and she doesn't seem to leave her room when I'm around," Adrien said, sighing sadly as he remembered how, after the events and Luka's trip, she was practically "isolated" in her room, which according to her father, claims she's too ill to leave. This raised suspicions among some friends, especially Marinette and Ayla.
"But we haven't seen her in a week!" Rose said, hugging Juleka, causing Adrien to sigh.
"I know, but from what my father told me, she got sick during one of the rehearsals and now needs to rest, especially because he doesn't want me to get sick too."
Now, this seemed even more suspicious to her friends. Marinette looked at her phone, seeing her friend's list of unanswered calls. She then glanced at Adrien, noticing how he seemed a bit down, and approached him. Despite her feelings for him, she placed her hand on his shoulder, making him look at her.
"Don't worry, I'm sure she'll be fine," Adrien smiled at her, while everyone else agreed, not wanting to make the situation sadder."Have you tried calling her?" Ayla suggested, looking at her friend Marinette, who was frantically using her phone as if trying desperately to get in touch with you."No, my father told me she dropped her phone in one of the fountains while landing, and that's why she got sick"Something is definitely wrong.
Meanwhile, you were locked in your room, unable to leave your eternal "punishment," still not understanding why things were this way. You realized that your father was making you feel lonely again as you looked around the messy room. You got up from the bed and looked under it, spotting a decorated and locked box. Pulling it out, you removed a key that was attached to your necklace, along with another one that Luka had given you in the past. You used the key to unlock the box, and you smiled upon seeing the various items it held—a small Viperion plushie that Luka had won and gifted you during one of your encounters, numerous song lyrics, and a few other objects given by your friends, the ones your father hadn't confiscated.
You realized how much you resembled your past self, feeling empty, lonely, and above all, with no one to talk to or confide in. You closed the box and locked it again, tucking the key inside your shirt as you climbed back onto the bed. You clutched your blouse and felt the other necklace Luka had given you, hearing the door open behind you without even looking back.
"Your father told you that you will return to modeling again, and this time he expects you to comply," Nathalie said as she fiddled with her tablet."By the way, your dinner will be delivered to your room again. I hope you eat this time," Nathalie turned to leave without waiting for your response, closing the door behind her, and you could hear the door being locked. You sighed sadly, then walked over to the window, looking out at the landscape that thankfully hadn't been taken from you. You gazed at the distant Eiffel Tower and the starry night that adorned its background, thinking about how beautiful the night was despite being alone in your locked room. You prayed that Luka was okay.
"I've already talked to Luka about the situation," Juleka said as she joined her group of friends. Marinette, being the great planner she was, was trying everything to make things calmer. "He told me to send his regards to her and that as soon as she can, she should call him."
"I still find this very strange!" Marinette said as she got up from the sofa in her room and started pacing in circles. "I mean, after Luka's sudden departure, a few days later, Adrien says that (name) is sick? There's something wrong here."
"Look, this time I even agree, but it could also be true. Don't you guys remember it rained last week? And do you remember the photo in the magazine that day, right? It's clearly (name) in the rain posing, so obviously, she would get sick!" Ayla said as she tried to ease the situation.
"Yes, true, I saw it!" Rose said while standing beside Juleka, making her nod in agreement too.
"But still!" Marinette said before a hand was placed on her shoulder, making her look back to see her friend Ayla.
"Look, that's enough, Marinette. I think you should put this aside, especially since you have a date with Adrien tomorrow."
"Yes, that's true!" the girls said, making their friend Marinette blush, while she tried to speak but gave up.
Meanwhile, (name) put on her fakest smile as she continued to pose at certain locations. "Yes, perfect! Very good!" the photographer exclaimed as he continued taking photos, with you striking every pose and wearing a cute outfit. Finally, the photo shoot was over. "Break time," he said, and you sat down, your smile fading, returning to your sad expression. You spotted Nathalie approaching with her tablet.
"You're doing well, because of that, you can choose what you'd like to eat," she said, looking at her tablet without leaving your side.
"I-I think... I'd like some (your preferred food) from Dupain-Cheng Bakery, please," you said, looking at the ground before turning to Nathalie.
Nathalie gave you a quizzical look before sighing and going to her driver, who then got into the car. Nathalie returned to your side, looking at her tablet and tapping away. You let out a tired sigh, sitting down, swinging your legs and looking around to try to pass the eternal boring time. In the meantime, you glanced up at the blue sky, watching the birds fly by and catching a glimpse of a red and black blur streaking across the sky, heading somewhere. "Here you go, eat while you still have time," Nathalie said as her bodyguard and driver handed her the Dupain-Cheng Bakery bag containing the food you had requested.
"Thank you..." you said in a low tone, almost like a whisper, looking at the school and smelling the sweet scent of the bakery where your friend lived.
"Tomorrow is the Diamond Ball, so after your session today, we'll take you to the studio to order your dress. Your father wants you to look good," you only nodded, listening to Nathalie go over your schedule.
Since you returned to modeling, your father refused to let you be alone, so you were always accompanied by Nathalie, who, although she seemed fine, you couldn't help but glance at the equipment on her legs, wondering if something had happened to her.
"Come on, show me a look of comfort! A look of longing, as if you were reminiscing about seeing these flowers!" the photographer said as he asked you to hold a bouquet of red roses, sitting on a picnic blanket with flowers all around. "Not like that!" he said, looking at your expression. "Show more emotion! A little happiness! See how beautiful these flowers are!" he pointed at the bouquet. Looking at the bouquet, you saw a blue dragonfly land on a rose, and a faint memory of a garden you went to with Luka came back to your mind, making you miss him. You gave a small smile as you buried your face in the roses, inhaling their sweet and fragrant scent, smiling at the memory of the day he asked you out.
"Yes! Perfect! Very good! Keep going!"
"Would you like any roses? A ribbon or some colorful embellishment?" asked the seamstress as she took your measurements. "No need for color, just white will do. The outfit Mr. Agreste designed only requires adjustments elsewhere," Nathalie replied as she tapped on her tablet. You watched as the seamstress took your measurements to add to the dress. And of course, you were also looking at the shoes, which your father had also designed, but for some reason, he wanted everything to be perfect.
"Welcome, Mrs. Agreste," the guard said as he allowed you and your father to pass. Your gaze remained melancholic, though not enough for anyone to notice that you were sad; it simply showed that you didn't want to be there, which clearly you had no choice in. Sitting on a sofa, you waited and watched everyone there enjoy themselves, not letting on as some tried to talk to you or somehow get your attention. All you did was divert your gaze until you reached the soft white couch.
"You look sad, did something happen?" a voice asked, and you looked to see what appeared to be your brother."Hello to you too, Félix," you said as you closed your eyes and leaned back on the couch."You always know how to identify me no matter what," he said, almost laughing if he didn't see your tired expression. He approached and sat beside you."What happened? You're usually more lively," he said as he looked at you, prompting you to release a tired sigh.
"My father..." Félix sighed with his words, but before he could say anything more, looking at Gabriel in the distance, a voice came to your rescue.
"Hello, (name)!" You opened your eyes, seeing Kagami. You blinked as she sat down on your other side, and you straightened up. It had been a while since you talked to any of your friends."You haven't been to school anymore. I heard you were sick. Are you feeling better now?" You looked away, glancing at Gabriel in the distance, almost choking."Yeah, of course, I was kind of, you know, sick... you know, now I'm better!" You said, not wanting to know what kind of lie Gabriel had told Adrien for him to be able to tell the others like this.
Before Kagami could ask another question or say anything else, you suddenly got up.
"You know, I'm going to grab a drink or something to eat, be right back!" you said as you almost ran away. You didn't want to talk about anything, but what could you say? Tell them that your father didn't approve of relationships and that he had put you on indefinite punishment for lying, running away, and breaking the one rule he gave you? How could you talk about this situation?
Near the food area, you grabbed some sweets to try to occupy your thoughts and emotions. As you looked at the dance floor, you saw your cousin, who resembled your brother, dancing with someone. Not wanting to say anything, you simply ignored it.
You entered the bathroom after eating some sweets and looked in the mirror, observing your well-groomed and elegant figure, your perfectly done hair, and your fancy dress. This wasn't you. The only thing you saw that truly belonged to you was your necklace, which you had hidden under the dress. Pulling it out, you looked lovingly at your reflection in the mirror, seeing the necklace that Luka had given you.
"Luka..." You never stopped loving him, even though your father had locked you in your room. You never stopped missing him. Crouching in the bathroom while looking at your necklace, you caressed it, hoping that someday you would find him again.
"Adrien!" you heard someone shout, looking out of the plane window. You saw Marinette running towards the airplane stairs with Adrien following behind.
Ah yes, it seems you weren't the only one with a forbidden affair. You watched Marinette and Adrien kiss before the bodyguards separated them. A wave of déjà vu came over you when you saw this scene, which felt so familiar. You saw Adrien being dragged onto the plane and placed in his seat, looking out the window while crying.
You averted your gaze and saw the plane starting to move to take off. You lay down, holding your blouse and feeling the necklace underneath it. You prayed and wished that you could find Luka.
"This will be your room," Nathalie showed you the hotel room. You saw that the view was nice, but it wasn't anything special. It was just another room where you would be confined. You leaned on the balcony railing, looking at the horizon and feeling the wind tussle your hair.
"It's only for a few days..." you commented, resigning yourself to the situation, holding the necklace that Luka had given you once again. You sighed with sadness.
"Can I stay in the park for a while, please?" you asked your bodyguard, who was currently looking after you while you posed for photos since Nathalie had fallen ill and couldn't make it. You looked at him, waiting for a response, and he saw the sadness and emptiness in your eyes, so he nodded in sympathy. You smiled weakly as you hugged your bodyguard. "Thank you..." He just patted your head and pointed to a bakery nearby, and you nodded. He would be in the bakery while you stayed in the park.
You watched your bodyguard's back disappear as he entered the bakery, and you smiled as you sat on the park bench, feeling a sense of freedom being away from supervision. However, a sad sigh still hung on your face, as if you were feeling trapped.
"A smile suits you better," you choked when you heard someone speaking, a familiar voice. Looking at the owner of the voice, you couldn't believe what you were seeing.
"Luka..." you said softly in a whisper, getting up from the bench. Your hands trembled. The boy with blue-tipped hair smiled as he approached slowly. He was nervous, hoping it wasn't a dream. He hugged you when he was close enough, burying his head in your neck.
"I missed you so much!" he said as you returned the hug, feeling the tears you had held back for so long, also feeling the boy's tears staining your clothes.
"Luka!"
"You didn't call me anymore, I had no sign from you. I thought something had happened. But then Juleka told me you had gotten sick, but that's not true, is it?" Luka looked at you, asking for confirmation, but all you did was bite your lip and turn your face away. "Why are you hiding, love?" Luka asked as he placed his hand on your cheek, caressing it.
"I..." You didn't want to talk. You didn't want to burden Luka. He wasn't at fault. You didn't want to speak; all you wanted was to be with him now.
"Please, (name), you can tell me," he said as he hugged you, stroking your hair.
"It was him, wasn't it?" You lifted your gaze to Luka before turning away again.
"I won't force you if you don't want to..."
"Someone told my father about our relationship. He doesn't accept the fact that I'm dating someone who isn't 'famous' or a friend of my father's. He took away all my technology so I couldn't talk to you or our friends. He thinks me leaving was a terrible idea. I'm sorry..."
"It's not your fault... it never was..." Luka placed his hands on both your shoulders.
"B-but! It was my fault. I didn't follow my responsibilities; I was careless, and I couldn't talk to you either... It's my fault... I just... my father, he just...!" Suddenly, an irritated expression crossed Luka's face.
"It doesn't matter!" You looked shocked at the boy as he wiped away your tears and put on a gentle smile.
"No matter what your father says or what the media wants, you've made me the happiest boy on the planet, and I've missed you so much since we were apart. You keep being the song that plays in my mind. I don't care if others see; I love you, (name)!" With that, Luka put his hand on your cheek, pulling your face closer to his, and finally kissed you. Not a peck or just any kiss—it was a kiss of love, one that showed how much you both loved each other. Amid that romantic moment, several people stopped to look at both of you.
"(Name) Agreste, Adrien Agreste's twin sister and Gabriel Agreste's daughter, kissing a boy in a public park." That's what people thought as they passed through the park, and some took photos.
"I love you, (name)," Luka said as he rested his forehead against yours.
"I love you too, Luka..."
"It seems that it wasn't enough," Mrs. Tsurugi commented as she listened to the latest news report that Gabriel was speaking in.
"Your children are being disobedient, unlike my daughter. Yours are out of control," Gabriel groaned in frustration as he looked at the screen, seeing the photo someone had posted. The photo itself wasn't particularly striking, just a girl taking a selfie with you and Luka kissing in the background. Similar photos like this ended up in some local newspapers, especially in the fashion industry, which only added to Gabriel's irritation. As if it wasn't enough to have to punish you, Adrien followed suit, and now just when it seemed like you were behaving, you go and kiss some random boy...
"It's not working... I think I'll have to proceed with the plan," Gabriel said as he looked at another screen, watching the cameras showing you, Adrien, and Kagami lying in white beds in a room that resembled a sanitarium.
"Let's begin..."
"(Name)!" Luka called out, running to you. You looked at him sadly, and he stopped, now concerned, as you turned.
"(Name), my love, what happened?" He placed a hand on your shoulder, seeing your back.
"Let's break up..." The boy's expression was shocked when he looked at you.
"What do you mean, (name)?" He seemed to want it to be a lie, hoping it was a lie. You had met again just a few days ago, and now you wanted to break up. Didn't you love him?
"(Name)?" You pulled away from the boy.
"Let's break up! I don't want to see you anymore!"
"(Name), if you can explain to me what's wrong, I'm sure we can find a way..." he said, trying to hold onto some hope.
"I don't like you, Luka. Why can't you understand that? I don't want this anymore!" You said angrily to the boy, who looked at you with sadness. He tried to reach out to you, but you simply pulled away until another random boy appeared, taking you away, leaving Luka shocked.
"(Name)....?"
Upon waking up, Luka realized it was just a dream. He brought his hand to his face, wiping away the tears, and sighed, feeling his heart calm down. He reached for his phone, checked the time, and saw his wallpaper—a happy photo of both him and you. He smiled, knowing it was just a nightmare, and that as much as it seemed real, it wasn't. You loved each other too much for something like that to happen.
He held onto the necklace you had given him on his birthday and looked at the ring on his finger—a ring that symbolized your relationship.
That is until...
"Bring back Adrien and Kagami!" Luka didn't know what had happened, but suddenly, everyone started getting akumatized. He knew it had something to do with the nightmare he had because his father and the secretary had reported having extremely heavy nightmares and couldn't stop thinking about them.
"Let's go! We need you!" Bunnix said, opening a portal for them to pass through.
"Thank you, Luka," you said as you leaned against him, watching your friends having fun in the pool at your house. You couldn't remember anything, and all Luka remembered was that suddenly, while fighting to break the akumatized rings, there was an explosion in the sky, and then he woke up, noticing you beside him. He wished it wasn't a dream now, and that you could be together.The look Marinette gave him was enough for him to know that you were now by his side, to stay.
"I should be the one thanking you," you looked at him confused, while he chuckled and gently kissed your lips, leaving both of your faces blushing and happy. "I'm lucky to be dating an amazing girl like you, (name)!"
"I love you, (name)!"
"I love you more, Luka!"
Applause came from some friends who were nearby, watching as you kissed again, but this time, it was to confirm something you both already knew— that you loved each other.
It took me 2 days to finish!!! And I finally finished!!!! Amen! I hope you liked it, if you want I can do another part :)

Disappear
Warning: The following fanfic contains salt! It contains everyone's favorite Cat hero getting rejected and Marinette having her agency. And me throwing the Mari///Chat ship into the trash where it belongs!
I dedicate this fanfic to my friend who converted from Mari///Chat to Vipernette. Because we both know what the best ship ever is! (*whispers* It's Vipernette!)
Well ok, it's kind of bad for me to dedicate this to her because this fanfic sucks I apologize! This fanfic went so much better in my head but I was thinking about you when I wrote this. Enjoy and Merry Christmas!
~~~~~
If Alya were here, she would tell Marinette she was once again the luckiest girl alive.
In Paris' latest Akuma attack, she crossed paths with Chat Noir and Viperion.
Viperion was composed and always had a mysterious look in his mint green eyes as if he were always calculating.
And Chat Noir.
Chat Noir…He was certainly full of himself.
Both boys kept her safe from the latest Akuma attack, and Marinette could finally catch her breath on the top of a tall building where she saw Paris was peaceful once more.
"Looks great, doesn't it Marinette?" Chat Noir said.
Marinette turned and saw Chat Noir and Viperion illuminated by the sunset. Chat Noir was giving his best toothy grin and doing his best to outshine Viperion, who had a soft smile as he held his harp close. Marinette admitted that, in his own way, Chat Noir was indeed cute, but he didn't interest her that much.
Viperion didn't seem bothered that his black cat friend enjoyed the spotlight. He just smiled at Marinette and played a gentle tune on his harp.
Marinette smiled as she fixed her hair. "Yes, it does."
But before she could enjoy more, she felt a particular sneaky cat making a move, and she instinctively took a step back and raised her arm. Chat Noir smiled at her.
"Just so you know, I can take you home, Mari," Chat said as she summoned a red rose in his hand.
Marinette took a moment to process this and then sheepishly smiled as she took another step back. "I can walk myself home. The weather is nice."
"But it would take too long," Chat Noir held out his hand. "You won't have to lift a finger if you choose me."
Marinette didn't need to ponder that decision long as she gave him a disapproving frown. "Sorry Chat Noir!" Marinette promptly walked away but stole a glance at Viperion before trying to find the exit.
"Could've sworn Marinette was interested in me," Chat Noir unapologetically said out loud.
Marinette internally sighed. She stopped momentarily and thought about what she wanted, but she wasn't sure if he felt the same. But now was an excellent time to seize the moment.
"Viperion!"
The snake hero's heart skipped a beat as his magical harp disappeared. "Yes Marinette!"
Marinette turned with a serious look on her face. She started running, and Viperion quickly understood. Marinette jumped into Viperion's arms. The snake hero quickly used his teleportation powers, and they disappeared in front of Chat Noir. To the cat boy's surprise, Viperion summoned pink rose petals, which Chat caught with his claws.
Chat Noir realized then that he should take a hint, but still…
"Can't blame a cat for trying!"
Viperion and Marinette were giggling when they teleported to the other side of the city. Marinette clung to Viperion as he held her safe in his arms. Everyone looked so small from the height they were at. But Marinette wasn't afraid. She gave Viperion a quick hug.
"Thank you for catching me," Marinette said softly. "And taking me to a whole new point of view!"
Suddenly, the wheels in Viperion's head turned, and he smiled at her, which Marinette thought was unbelievably adorable.
"I can take you somewhere else," Viperion said.
"Anywhere," Marinette said. "As long as it's with you," Marinette continued, not even trying to hide how flirty she was being.
They disappeared again in a green flash.
~
Marinette seemed a lot more relaxed as she stretched her arms and sat beside Viperion on a stone bench, and behind them was a bunch of pink roses swaying in the breeze as the moon shone above them. Marinette could live in this moment forever, the beautiful moon, the scent of pink roses, and the gentle sounds of Viperion's harp.
Viperion could live in this moment forever too. The snake hero would always play beautiful music for Marinette, even if he could never truly be with her because he is a hero. But as Marinette got tired and rested against him, Viperion smiled down at her and wondered. Why did she choose him?
Viperion's gentle harp filled her ears as she drifted off to sleep. Marinette didn't want to fall asleep at such a beautiful moment. Still, at the same time, if she was slipping and falling into beautiful dreams, then it felt right.
"You're amazing, Viperion," she mumbled as she closed her eyes.
Viperion gasped as he wrapped his arm around her to keep her secure. He ran his fingers through her shiny blue hair as she smiled and sighed while sleeping. It was the most beautiful music Viperion had ever heard. Still, he had to keep Marinette safe during the dark nights.
"I'll take you home, Marinette," he whispered.
He picked her up bridal style and used his powers to teleport into her bedroom. It was dark except for the moonlight shining through the balcony window, but still incredibly safe and filled with Marinette's creations. He gently laid her on her bed before pulling the lamp chord on her nightstand. Viperion smiled as Marinette looked like she was having the best sleep of her life, and he gently removed the strands of her hair from her face.
Viperion turned off the lamp as he decided to leave her to rest. But Marinette stirred in her sleep and rolled over, her smile a bit wider as she continued sleeping.
Viperion couldn't bring herself to leave her right now, and he summoned his harp and played her one last song. His magical musical notes circled Marinette and filled her entire room. He played longer than he should have and still felt melancholy when the song he created had to end. But he would play more music for Marinette and always be there for her, especially since she chose him. And he couldn't just walk away and forget about the beautiful melody that always supported him.
Viperion walked to the balcony door and looked at the full moon before turning to Marinette one last time.
"Goodnight Melody," he said before disappearing in a green light.
Marinette's dreams were full of magical melodies and adventures with the handsome snake hero. Still, Viperion couldn't help himself and teleported a pink rose in her hand before leaving again.
The beautiful music and the scent of a pink rose made this a night Marinette would never forget. Viperion held a single pink rose in his hand as he watched all of Paris as the stars sparkled above him.
“possessive kiss to show the world they belong to each other’’ 💕
Hehehe I hope you guys didn't think I forgot about these 😁 thanks for the ask nony! Featuring viperbug because I love them 😁
Marinette twisted her ring around and around her left hand ring finger as she worried at her bottom lip with her teeth. She and Luka had only been married a day, but she'd thought maybe something would be different. That she'd look different somehow or feel different or… it should be obvious, right? Marriage should've changed her in some life-altering way, and yet it was just another day.
Luka knocked on the door frame, then leaned into it and looked at her with the same expression he'd worn yesterday. For him, it was glaringly obvious. He didn't even need the glint of silver on his left hand; you could tell by looking at him that he was madly, hopelessly, irrevocably in love.
With her.
She blushed even as she thought it and Luka chuckled.
"You bring new meaning to the term 'blushing bride,'" he said, clearly amused.
"I just… was it right, do you think? To… run away like this? Get married on our own and come back and…" She twisted her ring again as she thought.
His easy smile twitched downward, but he moved to wrap her in his arms and rest his chin on her shoulder. "We'll still have the big wedding, Mari, I promise."
She put her hands over his and sank back into him. "That's not… exactly… what I'm worried about…" She caught his eye in the mirror and tapped her earrings. Luka nodded in understanding, then pressed a kiss behind her ear.
"We can do it together, if you want," he said. "Confront the press. It's not like we both don't have experience." He kissed a trail from behind her ear, down her jawline, and down her neck, then he worked on following the line of her shoulder, shifting the fabric of her shirt to get better access. She smiled despite her worries.
“That’s not really helping my motivation to go talk to anyone, you know.”
“So don’t,” he murmured. “Why do they have to know anything? For all they know, Ladybug is a 1,000 year old god with no… earthly desires.” At that he smirked against her skin and slipped her sleeve and her bra strap further down her shoulder. “And we’re technically on our honeymoon,” he reminded her.
She turned to wrap her arms around his waist and hugged him as tight as she could, burying her face in his shoulder. He shifted gears easily and let his hands fall respectfully to her hips.
“I just want it over with,” she muttered into his shirt. “I feel like I can’t enjoy this, being with you, until I know they’ll stop speculating and guessing and wondering and I want to stop hearing about how I’m obviously in love with Chat Noir every time I turn on the news and you’re sitting right next to me and we’re madly, happily in love and married now, and I know you’re not jealous, and I know it doesn’t bother you, but…” She nuzzled into him for good measure. “I belong to you,” she admitted softly. “And I want everyone else to know that, too.”
"Then I'm ready when you are, Mrs. Couffaine." He waited until she let go first, then smirked at her blush. His teal flash of magic was right behind her pink one, and they both left by using their balcony window.
It didn’t take long for the press to find them, or for the relentless questions to start. Why hasn’t Chat Noir been seen in a while? Why did Ladybug leave the city unprotected? Where had she gone? Was Viperion a permanent member of the team? Was she still in love with Chat Noir?
Viperion stood a little behind her, but kept his hand surreptitiously on the small of her back, lending her strength. She felt him tense the smallest amount at the last question, which strengthened her resolve. She took a deep breath.
“Chat Noir officially left the team about a month ago,” she started. “I am not, and have never been in love with him. He left of his own volition and I don’t expect to see him back anytime soon, although he’d be welcome if he did want to come back.”
There was a rush of questions and the circle around them pressed forward just enough to make her claustrophobic. She felt Viperion move and he was standing next to her now, twining his fingers with hers and squeezing her hand. Despite the pressure of the situation, she couldn’t help but smile.
“As for where I was, I’m happy to announce that I was getting married.”
There was a collective pause as what she’d said seemed to take everyone off guard. Then, one voice called out, “Married to who?”
“To the newest permanent member of the team,” Viperion answered beside her, and she didn’t even have to turn her head to know he was smirking at the shockwave that his statement caused. All eyes shifted to their hands, checking for rings which had unfortunately been hidden by their suits, and then over to Ladybug for her confirmation. She couldn’t help the blush that rose to her cheeks. There was only one way they’d believe them.
She turned to Viperion and curled her hand around his neck to pull him down. He followed her motion easily and covered her lips with his, smiling into the kiss. His arms wound around the small of her back, and she gasped as he lifted her off her feet easily. For a moment she forgot the press, forgot the suits, forgot the world and lost herself in kissing her husband, tangling her fingers in his hair, delighting in the way he seemed to be just as lost in kissing her.
It was only when a flash of a camera went off in her face that she remembered herself and slid down to touch her toes back to the ground, although she also didn't miss the way Viperion shifted to be a little more behind her to hide what his skin-tight suit definitely wouldn't. She shot a smirk back at the nearest camera person and wrapped her arm around Viperion's waist as she pulled her yoyo out and started twirling it.
"Now if you'll excuse us," she said, her teasing tone more directed at Luka than anyone else. She slipped her hand a little lower down his back to cup his ass and squeezed as surreptitiously as she could. Luka actually blushed under his mask, although the look he shot her told her she'd pay for it later. She bit back a giggle and finished her statement.
"We're on our honeymoon."
Send me a kiss!
The young rabbit hero quickly motioned to the surprised teenager to get into her portal before desperately shouting out, "Luka—Viperion, I need your help!"
The young rabbit hero quickly motioned to the surprised teenager to get into her portal before desperately shouting out, 'Luka—Viperion, I need your help!'
Luka tsked. 'Civilian and hero identity? Bunnyx, you're slipping.'
Bunnyx growled. Luka put his hands up as he chuckled in mock surrender.
'Be glad you found me when I was home alone, Alix,' he said as he entered the Burrow.
'Who's breaking rules now, snake boy?' Alix grouched, snapping the portal shut and stomping across the Burrow, grabbing him by the wrist and dragging him along with a ferocity that made him immediately switch into focus.
Luka knew how playful Alix was; cheeky by nature, a jovial competitor, and while she was a realist, she would be able to find levity in heavier moments. Normally, if he pulled her up on a slip, she'd roll her eyes, cock her hip and sass right back at him with an anecdote of when he himself had stuffed up, just to make it an even playing field. Normally, there'd be a little more banter. This, however, wasn't normal, and it put him on edge. As he observed her, she was pale, sweating, tired, jittery... scared.
'What happened?' he asked.
'No spoilers,' she shot back curtly as she pulled him in front of another portal.
'Hey.' He pulled his wrist out of her grasp. 'If you're going to send me out of my time into something that obviously has you rattled, I'm going to need to know what I'm walking into - which includes what led up to whatever this is.'
Bunnyx sniffled, and that's when he saw it. It wasn't just sweat trailing down her face. Luka wrapped her up in a hug.
'What are you doing, man?' came her muffled voice from against his chest. 'You-'
'I can spare a moment to make sure you're okay,' he told her. She returned the hug, and he felt his shirt dampen with tears. He wasn't sure how long they stood there, but eventually she pulled away.
'Th-the villain, the new holder of the Butterfly,' she began as she wiped her eyes and attempted to refocus herself, 'she's... so much worse that we could have ever imagined. Hawk Moth, Shadowmoth, Monarch - he had at least some boundaries, some morals, some rules about what he did, some lines he wouldn't cross... but her? She's just... there's nothing she wouldn't do, and it's horrifying.'
Bunnyx shivered, her pale facade tinging green.
'Should... should I ask why you couldn't get the Luka of that time?' he asked cautiously. Bunnyx just shrunk in on herself, and his heart sunk at the mortifying, unthinkable reasons she wouldn't, or perhaps couldn't-
'Spoilers,' she whispered with a glimmer of a smile, and he relaxed. So perhaps it wasn't as bad as he wasn't imagining, right?
'We're down a few members of our usual team, and the ones who are fighting are being pushed to their limits,' Bunnyx continued. 'This akuma is complicated, relentless and devastating. When we get on site, I'll inform the team that you're here, and after that, observe, report back to the team, and for goodness sakes - don't let the akuma see you. It'll be game over if you do.'
'What, like Medusa or something?' Luka joked, but at Bunnyx's nod, he grew solemn.
'And that's just one of the akuma's abilities.'
'Shit.'
'Yeah.'
Luka heaved a heavy sigh. 'Anything else I need to know?'
'Don't touch the goo.'
Luka raised an eyebrow.
'Seriously, don't touch the goo,' Bunnyx warned him.
Luka nodded slowly as he called on his transformation. 'Goo is a no-go. Got it.' He looked back at her. 'See you soon, yeah?'
'Yeah,' she agreed softly. 'Be careful.'
He smiled before stepping through the portal. He was halfway through when he felt a hand pull him backwards.
'Wrong portal, dummy!' Bunnyx scolded, shaking her head as she lined him up with the portal to the left of the one he just walked through. 'What would you even do without me?'
'I'd probably be really bored,' he countered as she shoved him unceremoniously through the portal and onto a secluded rooftop.
'I got the young Viperion for you, team' Bunnyx announced into her comms. 'Don't lose him - he can't stay up past his bedtime.'
'Copy that,' he heard the chorus of voices through his earpiece as he put it in.
'See you later, Vipey,' Bunnyx said to him as she slapped his shoulder in farewell.
'Later, Energiser,' he replied, chuckling as she flipped him off before hopping back into the Burrow, the bright portal swirling shut behind her.
Ladynoir July 2023 Day 30: Against the World
Read all the entries on AO3
--
“Happy Birthday, Chat!”
Those words and an explosion of confetti greeted Chat as he landed on the rooftop. He laughed with delight, surveying the smiling expressions of his friends and teammates. Though he’d received text messages from everyone earlier that day, this was the first time he was seeing anyone today.
“I can’t believe your asshole dad made you work on your birthday,” Rena said, grabbing Chat in a hug. “What a jerk!”
“Yeah, it sucked,” Chat said, hugging her back. He let go only to be yanked into a hug by Queen Bee, and then by Carapace and Ladybug. Viperion clapped him on the shoulder affectionately.
“Did you have a long day?” Ladybug asked, reaching over to brush some confetti from Chat’s shoulders.
“It was okay,” Chat said mildly. That was an understatement. In truth, his day had sucked. The photograph session, which was only supposed to be for the morning, had stretched out forever. He’d even missed his afterschool lessons because of it. He was tired, frustrated, and achy from having to stand in one position for hours on end while the photographer, wardrobe artists, lighting people, and everyone else squabbled.
Ladybug’s face filled with sympathy. “I’m sorry. Here, come sit down. We’re not patrolling tonight.”
“We’re not?” Chat said with surprise.
“Nope. Ladybug brought cake, and I brought hot chocolate,” Queen Bee said, dragging Chat over to a blanket that had been spread out. There was a picnic basket and some thermoses waiting for them.
The others followed and they all sat down in a circle. Ladybug opened the basket and took out six cupcakes. Chat was torn between laughing and crying when he saw that she’d decorated them to be miraculous-themed. Laughter won out when she handed him the Ladybug cupcake, which had red frosting with delicate black spots.
“These are so cute,” Rena said, looking at her Carapace cupcake with delight.
“They’re great. Thank you, My Lady,” Chat said, and she smiled at him.
“Happy Birthday, Chaton,” she said softly.
“Let’s toast!” Viperion said, holding his cupcake up.
“To Chat Noir!” Carapace cried as they bumped their cupcakes together.
“To Chat Noir!” the others echoed, and then they all took huge bites of their cupcakes.
“Wow, this is delicious!” Chat said. The inside of his cupcake was chocolate with raspberry filling. It turned out that each cupcake was a different flavor.
Ladybug blushed and waved away their praise. “It was nothing, but I’m glad they taste good.”
Queen Bee broke out the hot chocolate then. Viperion passed the cups around. Chat took a sip of hot chocolate and a bite of his cupcake and felt good for the first time all day. That was what pushed him to make his announcement.
“I want to move out of my dad’s house now that I’m 18.”
Everyone looked at him in surprise.
“I have some money saved up,” Chat went on. “So I’m going to quit my job, too. I hate modeling. I’m sick of it. I can’t take it anymore.”
“… Whoa,” Rena said after a moment, blinking.
“Does your dad know about this?” Carapace asked.
“No. I’m going to tell him tomorrow,” Chat said.
“Where will you go?” Viperion and Ladybug asked almost simultaneously.
“I… don’t know yet,” Chat admitted.
“Yes, you do,” Queen Bee declared. “You’ll come live in the hotel with me. You can have your own room and it won’t cost you anything. It’ll still be you against the world, but for free.” She flashed him a smile, and Chat returned it with a grateful look.
Ladybug reached over and grabbed Chat’s hand. She didn’t say anything, but she squeezed his hand hard. It was exactly what Chat needed. He squeezed back and gave the group a shaky smile.
Tomorrow was going to be a nightmare. Tonight, he was celebrating with his friends and his lady.
(Stammering Adrien) Queen Bee got hit by an Akuma and her personalities got split into 5 personas (Red dress Chloe: Anger Chloe, Pink dress Chloe: Happy/Nice Chloe. Gray dress Chloe: Sad/Timid Chloe, Green dress Chloe: Brave/Heroic Chloe and Purple dress Chloe: Passion)
(I'll do this, but I think I'll use different colors for different emotions. No disrespect.)
Ladybug: Not good. Not good at all. We need to try and reverse this.
Red Chloe: Oh, gee, you THINK?! UGH! Way to waste time pointing out the obvious!
Rena Rogue: Hey, dial it back, Anger. And watch your tone.
Blue Chloe: Oh, what difference does it make? Red, blue, green, we're nothing without each other. *sniff* I feel so helpless. *blows her nose*
Chat Noir: *hands her a box of tissues* Aw, it's okay, S-S-S-Sad Chloe. We'll find a way to put you all together.
Purple Chloe: *quivering* I hope so. I don't like it out here. It's too big, too loud. *hears a noise* What was that?! *hides under the bed*
Miss Hound: Fear, come on out from there. It's okay. No one's gonna hurt you.
Green Chloe: Why are Fear and Sadness getting so much attention? What about Envy, huh? What about my needs? I have needs too. *pouts*
Viperion: Come on, Envy. Don't think like that. You're all one girl, remember?
Pink Chloe: Oh, you're so thoughtful, Vipeykins. And you're all just so wonderful for thinking about our well-being. I want to hug each and every one of you. *hugs Pigella*
Pigella: Aw, Love. *hugs back* You've always been my favorite emotion.
Yellow Chloe: I don't know why everyone's so worried. Things will turn out alright. Ladybug's leading us, and Ladybug has never steered us wrong before.
Ladybug: Thanks, Happy Chloe.
Yellow Chloe: *giggles*
Red Chloe: Hmmph. More like "Butt-kisser Chloe."
Gray Chloe: Who cares? We're all going back into the same headspace anyway, so it's not like any of this is really that important.
Chat Noir: And you m-m-must be Apathy. We don't hear from you that much anymore, do we?
Gray Chloe: Whatever.
When Luka woke up, he had a conflicting assault on his senses. There was a dry, uncomfortable feeling in his throat, yet his nose registered the scent of something sweet, pleasant, and strangely familiar without him being able to place it. He opened his eyes to try and understand what was going on, seeing a ceiling he didn't recognize and feeling the softness of a bed underneath him. It only confused him further.
He shut his eyes - which had been complaining about the light anyway - and tried to think back to what had happened. He remembered that he'd donned his second identity as the vigilante Viperion after having planned out the place he'd wanted to steal from. Ladybug had showed up there as well and they had a chuckle about how they'd chosen the same place and time again, but decided to run with it anyway. All had been fine until the security system activated, seeming easy enough at first until a sort of smoke or gas started filling the room.
Ladybug must've planned for such an occasion and had something to protect her nose and mouth from breathing anything in, but he hadn't been so lucky. It wasn't that he'd never thought of it, but he simply hadn't had anything high quality enough to work.
Then, he heard Ladybug cry out for him and everything went black. Luka couldn't know what happened after that, but he wasn't dead or in jail so something must've worked out. He even reached up to touch his face to be certain and felt the familiar mask around his eyes, made by Ladybug herself when his old one had started wearing out.
He sighed in relief. Maybe it seemed silly to worry that he'd lost the mask she'd given him when his life had been on the line, but it was just that important to him.
His ears faintly registered the sound of a door opening and he turned his head to see who had come in. A woman entered with familiar black hair and deep blue eyes, carrying a tray with a rag, some bowls, and a drink on top. Even without the distinguishable features, Luka was conscious enough to know that it had to be Ladybug; there was simply no other explanation.
Only, she wasn't wearing her mask.
The unmasked Ladybug shut the door with her foot, then looked over at him and nearly dropped her tray in surprise. "V-Viperion!"
She rushed over, setting the tray on a nearby table as she took him in. Tearing up, she leaned over with her hands on the side of the bed and rambled, "I was so scared! You passed out and I didn't know if that gas did anything to you, and then I brought you here and gave you CPR but you wouldn't wake up still! And I'm so SORRY because I thought about making you a full face mask but I knew I'd have to get the specific measurements for your face and I didn't want to be weird about asking but if I'd asked then you wouldn't have been in this situation and—"
She choked, but didn't say anything further so that must've been everything important. Luka hadn't processed all of it but he got the crucial things - especially the hug - as well as the fact that she'd been worried about him.
He also didn't realize that he was laughing until the unmasked Ladybug asked in confusion, "W-what's so funny? It was the smoke, wasn't it? Do you feel delirious? Oh gosh, I don't think I have medicine for this, I—"
"I'm alright!" he said between giggles, calming himself down enough to explain, "Just—you saved me. I'm the one who should be sorry for troubling you - and I am - but you're apologizing after everything you risked to take me here?"
"Oh." She frowned, shoulders easing at that. "I-I mean, it's okay. I'm just glad you're alright."
He smiled and tried to sit up, but she quickly discouraged it, which he was glad for given the sudden dizzying sensation that overcame him when he moved. Staying where he was, his mind traveled to his next concern. "Did anyone see you without your mask?"
"What?"
"You'd need both arms to carry me." She was amazing and all, but she was still human. "So if your mask fell off or someone undid it, you wouldn't be able to protect your identity."
"Ah—no. It was fine. Why did you even..." She stiffened, her hand traveling up to her face and feeling the lack of a mask there. "O-oh. Oh. I—I'm sorry."
She seemed more sad than shocked, which confused him. "Why are you apologizing again?"
"Well, I thought—" She gestured between them. "I thought part of the appeal might've been the mystery for you? But now you know who I am, and clumsy fashion designer Marinette doesn't sound as cool as masked vigilante Ladybug."
He chuckled. She was close enough that he could reach out and take her hand, assuring, "Actually, I think it sounds just as great." She pouted skeptically at him, but he insisted, "It's just a different verse to the same song. It was never about the mystery for me anyway. Our... relationship—" He was only now realizing that they never put a name to whatever they had between them, but also noted that it wasn't exactly a bad thing either. "—to me, at least, was always about you, so I don't care whether you're making clothes or stealing from rich sour notes."
If he could say one thing, it was that her identity hid a bit of her facial expressions, something that he found he loved even more seeing her emote with the mask off. There was a particularly tender way she'd look at him that made him feel soft inside, and it was even more intense now.
"T-thanks," she said, blushing faintly. Then, almost on impulse, she leaned the rest of the way down to hug him, her next words muffled against his neck. "I-it's the same for me too, with you."
He didn't fully hear what she muttered to herself afterwards while she was walking off - something about potential painkillers if he needed it - because her scent was lingering on him. It was sweet, pleasant, and familiar in a way that Luka realized must've been all their close contact as vigilantes; the unconscious kind that neither of them realized during all of their brief but meaningful conversations.
And the bed underneath smelled exactly like her. He was laying in Marinette's bed.
Blushing, smiling, and giggling happily all at once, Luka reached up to his face and removed his mask to wait for her return. His plan as a vigilante might not've gone off well, and he still felt bad for forcing Ladybug to abandon hers too, but he took comfort in knowing that they could simply be Marinette and Luka now.
Truthfully, they never needed the disguises anyway.
Paris
3 Year Masterlist   Part 1
Prompt: Power swap/Spider-Man au Luka x Male!Reader
Tumblr media
It had been a year since you first met Luka,and you had spent months talking. It was almost time for yet another French-american friendship week. This time you’d be the one going to France. After settling into your hotel room,you texted Luka and you decided to meet up.
“Y/N” He called out your name,making you look up.
“Luka” You hugged him “I missed you” You whispered. You spent the entire day together,he showed you around and asked about your powers. He walked you back to the hotel,holding your hand. A part of you wanted to keep walking around just so you could hold his hand longer.
“I’ll see you tomorrow”
“Wait,Luka” You hugged him,wrapping your arms around his shoulders as he did with your waist. You pulled away slightly,so you were still holding each other but weren’t pressed together. You were just staring at each other for a few seconds before he leaned closer to you and you did the same until your lips met. Suddenly you felt a weird tingling sensation and pulled away. “What was that?”
“I don’t know,but I felt it too” Suddenly Ladybug jumped in front of you.
“Sorry to interrupt but I need to talk to Luka”
“I don’t mind” You pressed the button on your suit and it enveloped you. “Just let me know how I can help”
"Chat noir should be up there,he'll brief you on the akuma" She quickly grabbed Luka and ran off. You put your hand on the wall of the building but for some reason you weren't sticking to it,luckily you had your web shooters and could make it up there without sticking to the wall. You struggled during the fight without your spider sense,but you weren’t the only one struggling. Viperion was too,you noticed that his hands seemed to stick to his harp and walls. You rushed over to his side.
“You need to relax otherwise you won’t be able to unstick” You realized the akuma could probably swap powers and that might’ve been what you felt when you were with Luka,and since Viperion had your powers that meant he was Luka.  He managed to unstick his hand as Ladybug used her lucky charm and took down the villain. She fixed everything and you had your powers back. You waited for Ladybug to leave Luka and ran up to hug him. “Are you alright?”
“Yeah,I saw you out there,you were great” You hugged him tighter.
“So were you,Viperion”
“How did you?”
“You had my powers. Don’t worry I won’t tell”
Le Chat Et Le Serpent - Chapter 58
Please note that the entirety of this story is a ****TRIGGER WARNING***** - mentions of child abuse, graphic violence, alcohol use, mental health, suicide, suicidal ideation, self-harm - basically a constant blow of pain towards the characters - as well as some "steamier" moments.
Chapter Summary:
The group discusses possibilities going forward. How will Luka and Alya solve the problem of the rings?
The song is the same as the last chapter - Angel With A Shotgun
I'm an angel with a shotgun
Fighting til' the wars won
I don't care if heaven won't take me back
I'll throw away my faith, babe, just to keep you safe
Angel With a Shotgun by The Cab
-
Luka was greeted by Alya's snort. "What? Did you steal Adrien's aviators? How's that disguise working for ya, Johnny Cash?"
"Shit." Luka held his smoke between his teeth as he let out a raspy laugh.
"You ready to start a rebellion?" Alya shoved her hands in her pockets as they stepped onto the sidewalk.
"Do you think they'll really go for it? Chat Noir and Ladybug are the staples that created this group." Luka paused at the front of the store. They'd all be going in the back, but he still couldn't fathom that Adrien had bought this shop for him. It was more than perfect. The only thing wrong with it was that he and Adrien didn't get to work on it together.
"I think we can't make it seem like it's a choice. Because," Alya paused to rub her belly, "it's really not."
-
Holding his arm stiff, Luka tensed his muscles as he helped Alya to sit atop the cafe counter. Thankfully, Alya squeezed Luka's shoulder before tilting her head against the beam beside her. Luka stayed with his back against the edge of the bar, monitoring as more holders continued to trail in.
Clenching his jaw and fists, Luka forced himself to focus on them. On each holder's noises, their laughters, their breaths, any mannerism that could pull his attention. But no matter how hard he tried to distract himself, memories of Adrien kept slipping through.
What he'd done to renovate.
His blonde hair spread against his chest on the couch.
I hate you, Luka Couffaine.
"Hey," Alya's soft voice barely broke through the surface of Luka's reverie. "Are you okay?"
Luka's movements were languid as he nodded in assent. "Yeah... This is... It just feels like the worst form of betrayal I could ever do to Adrien." He finished his words with a harsh gulp, amplified by Zoe bashfully turning away as his gaze landed upon her.
"Alright everyone!" Alya announced as the last holders sat down. "Today's meeting will discuss the future of the Miraculous team. As I'm sure you all have noticed, neither Chat Noir nor Ladybug have been invited to this meeting."
Juleka intertwined her hand around Rose's, she had no idea how long Luka had been back, but he hadn't said anything to her. He looked significantly different. He held himself in a further slouched position, his hair had a shot of blue against black, a musical tattoo crawling up his neck, and looked generally dishevelled. His stance was staggered, as if he'd already been drinking.
"Are we getting rid of Ladybug?" Kim surprised the group by being the first to ask the question.
"Um... It's a little bit more complicated than that." Alya's face dropped as she turned towards Nino, "We also need to take over the Miraculous of Destruction."
The room immediately started to clamour.
We can't do that to Chat Noir!
He's been there since day one!
The team won't be the same without him!
Juleka and Rose were the only ones who stayed frozen to their spot. Luka was, of course, wearing his aviators. He needed to obscure how much this decision anguished him; he wanted to appear strong for the group.
The entire subject, however, was too suspicious for Zoe. Her and Adrien may not be best friends, and her heart may still be fluttering by Luka's enthralling presence, but having Chat's ex vie for his source of power didn't seem right. Stepping through the calmour, Zoe closed the space between herself and Luka.
"Luka, why are you taking Chat's Miraculous?" She was forcing him to look back at her, to know she would stand up for Chat regardless of any of the drama that existed in their civilian lives.
"We are about to get to that, IF EVERYONE WOULD SIT DOWN AND LISTEN!" Alya shouted over the complaining holders while side eyeing Zoe.
Zoe wasn't ready to accept this yet. The taking of Chat's Miraculous was obviously big news, what wasn't right was Luka standing at the front of this room. His judgement was too clouded to head this decision.
"Luka, why is it that you leave the team for so long for a music career, and when you suddenly decide to come back, you are aiming to take away Chat's Miraculous? You seem like the last person who should be making this decision."
Sucking in his cheeks, Luka responded to her in a raspy voice. "Because I have no choice."
Zoe was close enough to see what the others couldn't. The tear that fell from under the mirrored sunglasses. The golden chain that was mended in their battle against Second Chance,  peaking out from under his shirt collar.
"Well... Whatever the reason is, it better be good." Zoe ceded her attacking position and sat down by Nino. At least he evidenced this decision was not one taken lightly; that his decision was not one made from malice towards his ex.
As they waited for the explanation to continue, Zoe gave a briefly awkward side-hug to Nino, who had already started to weep.
"So," Alya continued, "I'm sure everyone has noticed that Ladybug has been a bit more of a ... difficult person to work with over the past year."
"She has started getting better though!" Mylene squeaked before cowering into Ivan.
Luka's teeth were aching from how frequently and feverently he'd clenched his jaw, but it was the only tactic he could think of to fuel out some of the anger before he spoke. "Has she? Because, from what I saw, she nearly killed Felix and has been treating Chat Noir like her toy."
His voice still snapped as a whip towards the group.
Boiling, Juleka challenged her brother's lash. "You've been gone! How are you supposed to know anything about what it's been like on the ground?"
Hiding his seething rage from Juleka was next to impossible; for better or worse, she always tore out his authentic self.
"Because this is why I had to fucking leave, Jules! This! If we're going to fucking save the world and save Chat Noir - I HAD TO LEAVE."
Juleka, along with the rest of the room had effectively been hushed.
"Thank you, Luka." Alya nodded towards him as he returned to his relaxed position on the bar. "There is a reason our Ladybug is not our Ladybug anymore. When the Miraculous' were returned, she was given an additional set of power."
"But... Wasn't she weaker when she came back?" Kim questioned.
"Yes, she was. Because the powers have an addictive euphoria and they were clouding her abilities. We think that once she managed her addiction, once she found balance, she was able to start gaining her time back." Alya paused to let the murmurs die down once again.
"What these powers do - is control a specific set of people. This explains why Felix was so easily caught. And it is also the reason why Ladybug has been able to control Chat Noir."
"How do we know if we're going to be safe?" Max asked, worried for himself and his family.
"Yeah, what magic is this?"
"The magic that Ladybug uses is in a set of rings. Luka and I know precisely who they affect, but this will not be shared until everyone has come to a consensus. What we can tell you is that we know that no one in this room, or their families, can be controlled by these rings. The only danger the rings are to you is the end of the world and the possibility of Chat Noir being forced to kill you."
Alya scanned the silent room. The holders were clearly terrified at the realisation, holding hands or pulling into themselves, waiting to hear Alya's next words.
"The issue is that these rings cannot easily be taken off. We can't slide them off in her sleep, or else we will be maimed ourselves. Our suits will not protect us." Kwamis were floating more intently, specifically interested in Sass's nods of verification along Alya's words. "With my conversation with Felix I was able to figure out a key piece of information, there are only two people in this world that can take off the rings, and they can only take a specific one. Felix is one, Chat Noir is the other."
"Do we have to break Felix outta jail?" Trixx didn't particularly like that idea, but it would be more amusing than dealing with the garbage villains that Lila released.
"It is a possibility, but - as our duties as Miraculous holders, and as representatives of Paris, letting a terrorist lose is not an optimal decision. But, none of them really are. If we cannot get the rings off by the specified holders, then we need to deal with the alternative consequences. The rings themselves hold chaos, stronger than anything we've ever faced with Gabriel. These creatures have the power to bring mayhem to the world; for the last centuries, they have only lived in two places: fairy tales and those rings.
"There are two ways we could sever the ring's power without releasing dark creatures." Alya held up her fingers to the group, choking on her heart that was beating in her throat. Eyes stared upon her as she tried to gather the words, but nothing wanted to come. She hated that any of these were options.
Squeezing her knee, Luka took over. Tearfully, Alya thanked him. "As you can see, we don't have any options that are good. I don't want anyone thinking we are offering these out of our own agendas, they are awful."
Rose hid further under Juleka's arm. Juleka was in a stunned silence, whereas Rose was already allowing her tears to fall.
"One option is to kill the holder of the Ladybug Miraculous, only when their soul has left their body can someone take off the ring without injury. The second is to kill both Felix and... Chat Noir." Luka's head craned to the side as the words left his mouth. He hated that idea. He hated saying it out loud. Dear god he hoped no one would ever take him up on that option.
Nino saw his pain reflected in Luka's. In a moment of impulse, Nino stepped up towards Luka. Luka's body was stiff as Nino held him in an embrace. There was a moment of silence as Luka relaxed in Nino's hold, his glasses skewed position against Nino's shoulder. The tighter Nino held, the more Luka couldn't stand on his own. They sniffled together under the burden of the decision they were forced to make.
With one last squeeze, Nino patted Luka's chest. "We'll figure it out Luka, we'll save him. I promise." Nino nodded before returning to his seat.
Rubbing a kleenex against his nose, Luka took a deep breath before continuing. "Before we start discussing the options, I want everyone to know what I think is our best option. I want to cataclysm the rings."
"Do you think we could handle the beasts?" Nino tentatively questioned.
Roarr centred herself in front of the group. "Listen, every Kwami has fought creatures. Nearly our entire existence has been spent fighting these creatures. I can't say that it will be easy, or that people won't get hurt, but this is what we were made for. This is why we can be held by humans. We weren't brought into existence to fight each other."
"There is another stipulation though." Sass floated beside Roarr. "Every attack up to this point against the rings has been reflected. Meaning that we believe the cataclysm will destroy it, but we also believe that the holder using the cataclysm will be equally affected by it."
Luka grimaced, he was hoping that part would stay hidden; but Sass did not approve of Luka's attraction to self-sacrifice.
Juleka could feel knees from the holders on the couch behind her protesting, but all she could focus on was Luka. She felt like she was falling and couldn't find a hand hold. "NO!" she screamed over the other dissenters. "You... you can't." She wanted to fight him, she wanted to shout and never stop.
"Jules," Luka's voice was as soft as it was broken, "it's the only way he'll be free."
"This isn't fair." Juleka mumbled as Rose tried to hold up her weight.
"The only one that makes sense is getting Felix and Chat Noir to take off the rings." Kagami spoke over the clamour regarding Luka's self-sacrifice.
"The only issue, besides breaking Felix out of jail, is that we would have to be completely covert. Ladybug will still have the power to tell them to back off." Luka pitched in the additional complication.
"Who says we have to break him out?" Zoe furrowed her brow. "We just have to bring Ladybug to him."
Heads nodded throughout the room.
Sighing, Luka gave in. "Alright. Does everyone agree that we will try to capture Ladybug and bring her to Felix?" And basically gag her and hope for the best.
"It feels wrong going against Ladybug." Kagami spoke. "I know it's the obvious solution, but it still feels wrong."
"Hopefully," Sass began, "we will be able to get our old Ladybug back."
"All right. If anything goes wrong though, I'm going back to the original plan." Luka sipped at his coffee cup, with only a slight backing of Jamesons. "Before we discuss the logistics of that plan, we need to discuss the second point of this meeting - taking Chat Noir's Kwami."
"I thought we just figured out a way where we didn't have to do that?" Nino huffed as he lifted his hands only to drop them in his lap.
"He's already kept it for too long." Alya lowered her gaze. "The balance is shifting. Plus, capturing Ladybug would be nearly impossible with Chat by her side."
Sass took the stage again. "If we are successful, we will be able to bring back our Chat Noir. But right now, strange things are beginning to happen all over the world. If the balance isn't restored soon, nothing will be able to survive on this planet."
Luka was resigned as the rest of the room discussed semantics. This was all old news to him. His daze was interrupted by Alya shoving him.
"Huh?" He noticed everyone was looking at him.
"So should we go after their civilian selves?" Nino asked again.
"Since we cannot simply take the Miraculous' off without it turning into a legitimate battle, it will need to be done in stages. Plagg already knows he needs to get his holder to rescind ownership. He will manage that part and come to us. Only then will we start going after Ladybug." Luka tapped his fingers on the cup as he spoke.
Nino's face dropped, "Luka, that will destroy him."
Luka bit his lip as tears began to noticeably fall. "I know, that's why we need to make sure everything is perfect."
"Who are they? Ladybug and Chat Noir?" Zoe turned to Luka and Alya, both who were barely keeping it together.
"Until we have Plagg, Ladybug's identity will stay secret." Alya rubbed her legs, even admitting they were going to share Marinette's identity felt awful.
"And Chat Noir?" Zoe specifically looked to Luka, seeing how the mere name seemed to be tearing him apart.
Pulling his hair back, Luka was glad for the glasses so he could shut his eyes to the reactions. "Chat Noir is Adrien Agreste."
Zoe froze. The tattoos, the fling with Adrien, a love worth fighting for, every hiccup and struggle. "I'm so sorry!" She burst into tears as she lunged towards Luka. "I can't believe you had to go through all that, I'm so so sorry."
Her sudden jump had shocked Luka, but he accepted the warmth. He held her close as his pain leaked through his eyes. Through his shakes. At least now everyone knows.
"Did Marinette say you two couldn't be together?" Juleka looked on in confusion. It was upsetting that Adrien was in that state, but it didn't exactly negate everything he'd done.
"No," Luka rasped as he pulled from Zoe. "The rings belonged to Gabriel first."
He felt the room still as they stared at him again. It was fucked up. And it wasn't his fucked up story to tell. But then they'd understand everything. "Gabriel -," Luka sipped his coffee from a shaking hand.
Come on. You've got this. He tried to comfort himself. Breathe in, breathe out.
"Gabriel was a homophobic piece of shit." The words stung him again, causing his chest to seize. "He - he said - Adrien c-," Alya rubbed his back, letting him know that she could take over. Luka nodded as he pressed the back of his wrist to his lips.
"Gabriel told Adrien that he could only be gay in his own private space."
The crowd gasped as Juleka's face turned white.
Allowing the shock to dissipate first, Alya continued. "When he goes against these rules, he gets nosebleeds, and several have already almost killed him."
Luka slid down to the floor, unable to hold his own weight. He'd been a part of that. He'd been a part of almost killing Adrien.
Juleka crawled over the floor and pulled him against her chest. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry."
Setting his coffee on the ground, he pulled himself closer to Juleka. He held so tightly he thought Juleka would burst. Instead of bursting, she rocked Luka as they sobbed together.
The rest of the semantics of the battle to come could wait. Nino helped to lower Alya off the bar.
"Let's get some food and come back guys." Nino stated as he wiped his flushed cheeks.
After the violent sobs were gone, all that was left was a silent trickle. Luka's head rested in Juleka's lap as she pulled off his glasses.
She ran her hand across his face. It was the most familiar he'd looked in a long time. His bravado, his secrets, were all shed. Leaving nothing but her broken hearted brother.
"I'm so sorry, Luka. How long did you know?" She continued her caresses of comfort.
"Not long enough." Luka ran his ring along the golden chain.
"Fucking Marinette."
Luka let out a sob ridden laugh, "Fucking Marinette."'
It had been so long since she'd seen him smile. She hated that he'd fought this battle alone.
Author's Notes:
Review of options:
1. Kill ladybug - temporary, rings will still find a way to wreak havoc (similar to 4)
2. Kill Felix AND Adrien - power on rings will be broken, creatures will be trapped in ring and only those with a blood connection will be able to hold them
3. Destroy the rings and release mayhem (where Luka would probably die)
4. Break into jail to get Felix to take off his ring and continue to gag Marinette so they can go to Adrien to get him to take off his own ring.
-
Angel With A Shotgun has been in the chapters several times for a reason. I really believe that this song is Luka's current theme song. He is willing to sacrifice EVERYTHING for his love. His morals (honesty) and his life. As long as Adrien can make it through.
-
This is the "calm before the storm". Next three* chapters are battles (subject to change depending on editing). We are there guys. We're facing the beast.
-
AHHH - I can't believe we're here. I am so happy that people have enjoyed my story up to here, I'm praying I don't disappoint!
-
Thank you again for reading, y'all are beautiful 💕💕
LBSC Lukanette Week (Drabbles)
7. Craft / Cozy
Luka pulled the covers higher to his chest, the ratted old blanket offered little warmth in the chill hull. Marinette snuggled closer to him, cozy in his bed.
“Mmm, you’re so warm,” Marinette murmured. Luka chuckled and kissed Marinette’s forehead.
“Any plans for the rest of today?” Luka asked, he hugged Marinette closer. SHe leaned her head on his shoulder.
“Just working on a crafting a blanket.”
“Sounds fun, want to tell me about it?” Luka looked intrigued. Marinette looked up from under her eyelashes, thinking about what to tell Luka.
“Well, it’s going to be knitted, with blue colored yarns. I have a special pattern I’m using and I hope the finished product turns out well.”
“What kind of pattern is it?”
“It’s a surprise.” Marinette said mischievously. Luka looked stunned.
“It’s for me?” Marinette nodded. He smiled brightly at her.
“Thank you.”
“You haven’t even seen it yet!” Marinette exclaimed.
“Don’t need to, to know that it will be amazing.” Luka said, brushing back her hair and kissing her hair line. Marinette blushed. Luka was so sweet to her; she couldn’t believe how lucky she was sometimes.
“Can I get a hint?” Luka pleaded, giving Marinette his best smolder. Marinette’s blush deepened.
“W-well, it has a snake pattern on it,” She mumbled. Luka stilled; a flush of pink heated his cheeks.
“You are truly miraculous Marinette.”
“Thank you. I wanted to pay tribute to your time as Viperion while still being subtle. If I get the pattern right, I don’t think most people will notice the connection.” Luka hid his grin in her hair and kissed the top of her head once more. Luka sighed.
“We will have to get up soon to make dinner.”
“But I’m cozy!”
“Me too, love, and I would never say no to more cuddles.” Marinette laughed.
“Five more minutes, then we will be productive.” Marinette said, she rubbed her head against his shoulder and gave a sigh, Luka hugged her closer once again and enjoyed the moment.
The Melody of Your Heart - Chapter 5
Marc, Nathaniel, and their beloved art club were in danger, and Marinette couldn't just sit outside and cry about it.
Marinette's fellow students were clearing out; some were distressed that Marc and Nathaniel were the subjects of the latest Akuma attack. She knew she was a powerless human and should head to the safe area with her friends. Still, Marinette couldn't leave Marc and Nathaniel alone after everything they had been through.
She would be back safe with her friends later! She could run in and take them home safely with the school building mostly cleared out. But as Marinette focused all her courage on running inside the building, someone harshly grabbed her wrist.
Marinette turned, and her bluebell eyes had an unapologetic glare when she saw it was Felix who grabbed her. The look on his face wasn't very warm, along with his peridot eyes darkened.
"Come with me," he said blankly. "I will save you from those Akumas."
Marinette was wondering if Felix was asking to get slapped again. She was this close to going absolutely feral on him as he pulled her closer, but before she could react, a few of the girls grabbed hold of Felix and pulled him away from her.
"What?" Marinette cried under her breath as she saw Felix being annoyed by some angry girls grabbing him.
"Stop this right now Felix! Marinette isn't interested!"
"Huh?" Marinette cried as she turned around. "Alya?!"
Alya placed her hand on her hip and smiled at Marinette, and Marinette's blue eyes sparkled in response.
Alya walked up to Marinette, and Marinette was trying hard not to cry. It was almost enough to forget that their school was in danger for a moment.
"I'm sorry I pushed you into this Marinette. I just wanted you to be happy, and I guess I overdid it. It wasn't a very 'best-friend' thing to do," Alya said.
Marinette felt so much joy in her heart, but the girls were so busy punishing Felix that she couldn't respond yet.
"Yeah! We're sorry Marinette!" One of the girls cried.
"We weren't thinking!" Another girl chimed in.
"It was absolute tunnel vision!" Another girl added.
Marinette sniffed. "Oh girls! Oh Alya……Thank you!"
Marinette and Alya took a moment to hug, but then Marinette got rooted back to reality with the sound of a crash.
Marinette turned back to the art club and clenched her fist against her heart. With no more objections, she ran inside the main building, and Alya couldn't catch her in time.
"Mari!--"
"I'll be right back Alya! I promise!" Marinette cried as she disappeared into the building.
A few of the girls got beside Alya, and they couldn't comprehend how Marinette could be so reckless.
"Marinette, no…"
~~~~~
The hallways felt different as she ran up the ramps to the third floor. It was a surreal experience not having the obnoxious remarks of high school students fill her ears and rot her brain.
But Marinette felt herself slowing down when she finally reached the hallway where the art club was. Everything felt peaceful and quiet in the hallway, with sun rays filtering through the windows; it almost felt eerie. But Marinette could faintly hear Nathaniel and Marc's turmoil, and she started to feel scared.
Marinette kept taking steps forward as she was about to open the door, only for her to nearly freeze up completely when Viperion appeared from the corner of the hallway. His eyes went completely wide, and his mouth dropped when he found himself face-to-face with her.
"Marinette!" Viperion cried almost a bit too loudly.
Marinette quickly placed her hand over her mouth. "Viperion!" She whispered.
Yes, Marinette knew the teenage heroes would give her a scolding for putting herself in the line of danger…
But for some reason, she felt she needed to be here…
Viperion frowned at her and wasted no time to gently grab her wrist and take her a few steps away from the art club room.
Marinette couldn't help but blush and think about the garden snake's gentle touch, even if the situation was severe.
"You shouldn't be here!" Viperion whispered to her as loudly as he could.
Marinette frowned and looked away, feeling slight shame. "I know.." She whispered.
"But Nathaniel and Marc are part of the art club; I couldn't stay away if the Akumas are tormenting them…."
Oh god, if Viperion could only tell Marinette how beautiful she was to him, but such beauty in the world needed to be protected. He was only upset that Marinette was being so reckless; he could never be angry at her for being a beautiful flower in a world full of turmoil.
Viperion gently cupped her face with his hand, and Marinette couldn't help but feel lost in Viperion's mint-green eyes.
"Stay here," Viperion said gently. "I'm supposed to be a hero that will protect you, not the other way around."
Before Viperion could pull away, Marinette caught him off guard by cupping his cheek with her hand. The snake hero could swear he could feel a gravitational pull between them.
"Please save Marc and Nathaniel," Marinette cried. "And please be safe!"
Marinette and Viperion felt their faces heat up with a soft pink blush, but they pulled away to catch their breath.
"I swear I will," Viperion gave her his most earnest promise before summoning his harp and turning for the art club door. Marinette could only stand there starstruck as she silently prayed that everything would be ok.
As Viperion, Luka could walk into any situation since having powers made an ordinary person feel more confident. He opened the door and prepared himself.
"Stay back!" Marc and Nathaniel cried in unison.
Ever since his master chose him to be the holder of the snake Miraculous, Luka had to expect the unexpected. And he wasn't expecting to have to dodge giant paint splatters coming from two akumatized boys.
It was strange, even if Luka faced much worse. The windows in the art room were broken, the floor had noticeable cracks, and all the colors in the art room were fading into grayscale. Marinette's two friends, Marc and Nathaniel, also had their colors faded into grayscale, and they both looked absolutely tormented.
"We need to protect the art club…." Nathaniel said in a tortured tone.
"The air club belongs to us…." Marc cried. "No one can take that away from us!"
Viperion felt his heart drop. Sure, this was nothing new to him, but being a superhero meant he felt his heart swell seeing the effects of akumatization. How whoever had the power of the akumas absolutely adored torturing people with so much pain in their hearts.
Viperion held his harp up and ran his fingers through the strings.
"Hey you two!" Viperion cried. Marc and Nathaniel stopped levitating art supplies and took notice of the snake hero.
"Please…" Viperion cried as he started playing his song. "Listen to my song and try to see the light."
Marc and Nathaniel gasped as Viperion's magical melody circled around the room as Viperion played with all his heart. The colors on the walls were starting to return, and the two akumatized boys were taken aback by Viperion's beautiful song.
As Viperion saw the two boys come to their senses, his green eyes glowed as he tried to purify them. Still, Marc and Nathaniel cried out in agony again. Viperion knew that whoever was controlling the akumas was being persistent and told them this wasn't over yet.
"We won't give up! We won't lose the art club to bullies!" Marc and Nathaniel cried in unison.
This time Viperion missed dodging the paint tubes and chalk that hit him in the face. But Viperion held his harp close to him, not ready to give up yet.
"Please…Let my melody reach your heart…."
But the akumatized Marc and Nathaniel looked even more aggressive as their eyes glowed red and looked as if they were truly ready to hurt Viperion.
"No! Stop!"
Viperion's heart nearly stopped when he heard her. Marinette ran in front of him and held out her arms to shield him.
"Marinette!--" Viperion cried.
"Marc! Nathaniel! Please stop! This isn't you! You can't do this!" Marinette cried desperately.
Marc and Nathaniel's expressions softened, and their stances became less aggressive.
"Mari???" The two boys cried in unison. Their voices sounded normal as if they weren't still akumatized.
Marinette nodded, trying not to let tears pour from her eyes. "Yes it's me! I'm here to help you two!"
Despite her pleading, Marinette looked down when she heard the sound of the ground cracking from under her.
"No!" Marinette cried as she fell to her knees. "Please!"
Viperion couldn't bring himself to move at the sound of Marinette's sincerity, even if he was supposed to take down the Akuma menace by any means before the world fell into darkness.
But he needed to hear what Marinette had to say.
"This art club is important to all of us!" Marinette cried. She was still on her knees as she lifted her head and let the tears fall. Viperion nearly dropped everything to wipe away those tears he saw for the first time, but he had to stay professional.
"And they can't take that away from us!" Marinette cried before slowly getting to her feet again. "I won't let them take that away from us!"
Both akumatized boys were stunned by Marinette's words. Viperion knew he shouldn't let Marinette get close to them, but he couldn't bring himself to speak as she moved closer.
"So please…" Marinette said as she reached out to both of them.
To Viperion's surprise, Marc and Nathaniel were also reaching out as if their humanity was returning. They both desperately cried Marinette's name, and Marinette pulled the two boys close to her to hug them.
"Please come back," Marinette said. "Because this school needs artists like both of you."
Viperion still couldn't speak. Instead, the snake hero's heartbeat thudded and made his body feel warm, and he couldn't help but run his fingers through the strings of his harp. His musical melody filled the room and caused everything to change back to normal. Colors on the wall returned, cracks on the floor were disappearing, and the art supplies were almost as good as new.
And when Marinette heard Viperion's soothing harp song again, she felt her heart beating in rhythm as she held Marc and Nathaniel more tenderly and whispered to them that everything would be ok.
Viperion couldn't help but smile as he continued to play his song. A beautiful song he was lost in and could play for hours if he could. With the beautiful melody and Marinette's gentle embrace, the two boys were starting to open their eyes.
"Cataclysm!"
Viperion's heart nearly jumped out of his chest with the sound of a familiar voice. Chat Noir used his secret power to break a decent size hole into the art club room from where he was scaling the building outside. Marinette was so rattled by the event that she nearly lost her voice screaming, and she held onto Nathaniel and Marc for dear life.
After all this time of keeping a cool head and being a professional hero, Viperion was about to lose his temper with how the art room looked even worse than it was before. Chat Noir peaked through the giant hole he created, looking concerned.
"I'm here! Where's the danger? You didn't keep tabs with me, Viperion!" Chat Noir cried.
Nathaniel and Marc slipped from Marinette's arms and turned to Chat Noir looking even more pissed off.
"Our art room!" The two of them cried in unison as they rapidly tossed art supplies at the black cat. And Marinette didn't bring herself to stop the boys this time because she was too busy being absolutely heartbroken that a hole was inside their art room. She fell to her knees and started crying.
"Whoa! Whoa! I'm sorry!" Chat Noir cried as he dodged half the art supplies and got pelted by the other half. "Viperion can fix this place up with his special powers!"
Viperion stifled a grunt, thinking that Chat Noir shouldn't speak on his behalf. And there was a record of the number of times Viperion used his powers to fix up his screw-ups.
After enough agonized yells from the akumatized Marc and Nathaniel, the hero with the turtle Miraculous Carapace appeared through the hole in the wall just in time with a magical shield. But he only prevented more art supplies from being hurled; he didn't stop Chat Noir from nearly falling off the wall.
"It's ok gentleman, there is no need to use violence," Carapace said. Then he turned and gave an assuring smile to Viperion. "Ok bro, you know what to do."
Viperion was still annoyed that Chat Noir killed the mood, even if it was another one of his honest mistakes. But Marinette wiped away her tears and took Marc and Nathaniel's hands, and turned to smile at Viperion even if her tears weren't completely dry yet.
"Please Viperion," she said sweetly. "Please play me your beautiful song."
There was an intense pink blush under Viperion's mask, and he smiled warmly at her and summoned his harp again.
"Yes Marinette."
Viperion tried his best to remember those feelings in his heart that made him play that once-in-a-lifetime melody he played before. He wasn't sure if it was quite right, but Marinette closed her eyes and smiled as his sweet melody filled her ears. After a few moments of being moved by Viperion's song, she squeezed Marc and Nathaniel's hands tenderly.
Marinette was so busy letting her thoughts flow as she listened, and Viperion was super busy composing a melody that they didn't notice Marc and Nathaniel coming to their senses and the evil butterflies releasing from their bodies.
Viperion opened his eyes as the Akuma butterflies tried to make an escape and find new victims.
"Heal under the power of my song evil Akumas!" Viperion cried.
The magical musical notes purified the akumas into beautiful butterflies. Marc and Nathaniel were busy wondering what had occurred while they were out of it. Still, Marinette was in awe of seeing Viperion purify the world of evil and turn Akumas back into butterflies.
One of the butterflies flew to Marinette for a moment and fluttered in front of her face before flying away. The other butterfly flew to Viperion, and he held out his hand and smiled before the butterfly joined its companion. The two butterflies flew out of the building from that giant hole Chat Noir made from the wall.
A hole in the wall ruined this beautiful moment of evil being defeated! Marc and Nathaniel were already worried about the future of the art club, but now they were practically screaming at the sight of their art room being ruined.
"Oh my god, what happened to the art room?!" Marc cried.
Marc was practically shaking from his own shock, and Nathaniel looked like he was about to lose his mind with all the other damages inside the art room and all the art supplies on the floor.
"We were only trying to protect the art club! How could we let this happen?!" Nathaniel cried.
"Why must this happen to us?!" Marc cried.
The two boys couldn't help but start crying as they both pulled each other into a hug, and then Chat Noir and Carapace quickly ran over to console the two boys.
"Don't worry! Viperion has the power to fix your art room; it will look good as new!" Carapace said.
Chat Noir grinned. "Yes! Viperion has the magic touch! Paris would be in ruins if not for him!" He took a moment to give a thumbs up and wink at Viperion, who still looked slightly annoyed.
Carapace promptly wrapped his arms around Nathaniel and Marc. "Come on! Let me get you two gentlemen out of here while Viperion works his magic!" Marc and Nathaniel couldn't object as Carapace gracefully jumped out of the hole in the wall with them. Just when Marinette thought she could breathe, she went blue in the face. But Viperion placed his hand on her shoulder and smiled at her.
"Don't worry, they're safe. Carapace is a very trustworthy man," Viperion said.
Marinette smiled in return, and Chat Noir couldn't help but look at the two of them in amusement. But after another moment of Viperion and his little civilian friend totally not being lost in each other's eyes and enjoying each other's presence, Chat Noir cleared his throat before clapping his hands together.
"So," Chat Noir said with a smile. "How should I help with rebuilding this art room? It's the least I can do!"
Viperion couldn't help but chuckle for a moment. "You could help by destroying the homes of anyone who thinks art programs should lose funding," he said half-jokingly.
Marinette couldn't help but giggle, and Viperion couldn't help but feel his heartstrings play a beautiful tune with how adorable her laugh was.
"Or, I could pay for renovations,"
Marinette gasped as she and Viperion turned to see Felix by the door, looking displeased. Viperion couldn't help but glare at the arrogant blonde rich boy; his normal snake senses were more than cold right now.
"Hello Mari…" Felix said.
Marinette groaned in disgust as she raised her arm to defend herself. Viperion held his harp up as if he would hit Felix over the head with it.
"Leave this place!" Marinette spat.
Viperion's body language was enough to show him communicating, "Listen to this young lady and fuck off rich boy!"
Felix smiled coyly. "But I can pay for the repairs, and your art room would look better than ever. Your school would be just like that fancy art school."
Marinette couldn't even think of that possibility without being disgusted. She was shaking with anger because of Felix's arrogance.
"No!" Marinette cried before her bluebell eyes burned at Felix. "You can't buy our art club Felix!"
She stopped and picked up a broken ruler that was at her feet. "Besides, I like this art club just the way it is."
Felix chuckled and walked up to Marinette with his hand over his heart. "Oh Mari, don't be so closed-minded!"
But before Felix could even hope to grace Marinette with his presence again, Chat Noir got in front of Felix like a speeding bullet. He gave Felix a displeased look.
"You heard the lady! She isn't interested in your self-righteous charity. And I know from experience that sometimes generous offers have selfish motives," Chat Noir said.
Felix came off as so offended, wondering what this sneaky cat had anything to know about giving money to a noble cause.
"Besides, she is Viperion's assistant in helping rebuild the art room, and I can't have an innocent civilian standing around the construction area." Chat Noir gave a devious grin as he finished talking.
"What?!" Felix cried.
Chat Noir swiftly picked Felix up and threw him over his shoulder. Despite loud protests from Felix, Chat gleefully headed for the entrance he had created.
"Out we go! Through the hole in the wall!" Chat Noir cried.
Felix took a moment to punch Chat in the back a few times, but Chat Noir only responded with a few annoyed groans.
"You annoying creature!" Felix cried.
Chat Noir gave Felix a sly grin. "Try to relax sir; this trip will only take a few seconds."
Suddenly Felix went pale, but Chat merely winked at him before jumping out of the hole, causing Felix to scream. Marinette had to admit it was kind of satisfying, and Viperion had to stifle a chuckle.
"Going down!" Chat cried.
The students were busy consoling Marc and Nathaniel as Chat Noir fell on the grass with Felix in his arms. Felix felt dizzy as Chat Noir sat him down on the grass, and Chat Noir couldn't help but laugh a little.
"You have been a pleasant passenger sir!" Chat Noir said. "Here! Let me fix your hair for you!"
Before Felix could protest, Chat Noir "fixed" Felix's smoothed hair by swiftly running his clawed hands through it. Soon Felix cried in protest, and nobody in the front of the school had qualms for him.
And Marinette's heart was thrilled to be alone with Viperion, even in the destroyed art room. As Marinette checked the damages, Viperion summoned his harp, and Marinette turned as he smiled at her.
"Well, now we can finally fix this art room," Viperion said.
Marinette smiled, but she did ponder.
"Oh Viperion, I'm not sure how I can help! You guys are the ones with the cool powers that you use to make the world a better place."
Viperion walked up to her, and Marinette could feel her heart race.
"Yes, but you have a melody in your heart, and that's how you can help me," Viperion said.
With his powers, his harp lit up beautiful crystal rainbow colors, and he gently took her hand.
"You know what to do," he said.
He led her hand to the harp strings, and Marinette ran her fingers through Viperion's harp, playing a gentle tune. The beautiful rainbow musical notes surrounded them, and Marinette felt lighter as she watched the power of creation fill the room. Marinette felt she was taken to a better place as she saw the entire art room change back to normal right before her eyes.
She couldn't speak for a moment; her heart was overflowing. Marinette had to rush to the other side of the room to check the art supplies. Seeing everything back where it belonged, she couldn't contain herself anymore.
"Viperion this is amazing!"
Viperion smirked. "It's a time reset to before the Akuma attack happened."
Viperion checked the room, even if his time-reset powers made it seem like Akumas had never harmed this place. He checked the old paintbrushes that looked like they were from the 90s among the other art supplies. He thought it was very charming, but an idea appeared in the back of his mind.
But then Marinette rushed to his side again and took his hand.
"I can't thank you enough!" She said.
Viperion smiled down at her, but then his bracelet made a familiar beeping noise. And Marinette blushed as he squeezed her hand for a moment.
"I have to go again," he said.
Marinette squeezed his hand back, but to Viperion's surprise, she gave him a strong smile.
"I know," she said.
Smiling in return, Viperion pressed the button on his bracelet and used his powers to disappear. Instead of taking Marinette with him, she watched him disappear as his hand slipped from hers.
Marinette smiled as she placed her hand over her heart.
The art room was quiet alone, and without Viperion's presence. Still, looking out the window, she saw Marc and Nathaniel with everyone.
"I got to check up on Marc and Nathaniel!" She cried.
And Marinette quickly ran out of the art room.
Meanwhile, Luka wasn't far away as he transformed from being Viperion. Sass praised him for being a trustworthy superhero, as usual. But he had to run to Marinette and give her some sort of explanation as to why he had run from her before without giving up his superhero identity.
He ran across the hallways to get to the art room, but little did he know Marinette made a sharp turn at the hallway's corner, ready to run down the ramps to the first floor.
Luka nearly lost his breath as he and Marinette collided with each other, and Marinette yelped, bumping into Luka's admittedly strong chest.
Marinette nearly fell backward, but Luka recovered quickly enough to catch and hold her in her arms. As Marinette's vision came into focus Luka's eyes shined down at her, and she had to admit Luka had strong arms.
"Marinette! Oh my god! I am so sorry!"
"Ugh…" Marinette cried under her breath.
Luka frowned, thinking that because of his recklessness in wanting to see Marinette, he nearly screwed up. Still, Marinette felt sadness didn't suit Luka. Even if she was trying to process everything, she cupped his cheek with his hand, confusing him terribly.
"It's ok Luka." Marinette's vision returned to focus as Luka helped her get steady back on her feet.
Marinette would've asked him why he left during an Akuma attack. Still, she was so overjoyed that she bumped into Luka after saying goodbye to Viperion.
She decided not to question it.
"I'm happy you are here," Marinette said as she tried to hide the bright pink blush on her face.
Luka gasped slightly under his breath. He expected Marinette to be somewhat angry at him; he expected her to want her beloved hero Viperion back.
"And thank you for standing up against Felix…" Marinette said.
"That was very heroic, Luka."
Marinette didn't notice, but this time, Luka's face was heating up bright rose pink from blushing. He had to cover his face with a cold hand to stop the heat. "Don't mention it!" He gaped.
After a moment of blushing, the two of them managed to meet eyes again, and Luka smirked as he placed his hand on his hip. "Well, I needed to find you after the akumas were cleared; I still need to apologize."
Luka cursed internally. He hoped with all his heart he didn't seem so obvious. Luka loved his friends and family dearly, but the ordinary guitar boy always kept them at arm's length for their own safety and the fact he didn't live a normal life! But Marinette was the only one he was letting so close to him as both Luka and Viperion.
Luka rubbed the back of his neck with his hand. "I'm sure Kitty Section is waiting for us."
Marinette's eyes lit up before she took Luka by the hand and led him down the empty hall. Luka will never not be surprised by this extraordinary girl.
"Whoa! Mari!" Luka cried, practically laughing as he ran down the hall with her as if it were a racing track.
"No more delay; let's go!" Marinette cried as she nearly outran him and pointed her finger forward.
The two of them were perfectly in sync as they ran while holding each other's hands. They made a sharp turn at the corner of the hallway but then skidded hard on the heels of their shoes when they saw all of Kitty Section innocently looking for them.
Marinette and Luka gasped and nearly had a heart attack thinking about another painful collision. Still, as Marinette and Luka fell forward, they fell into a group hug with Ivan, Mylene, Rose, and Juleka.
Even if the members of Kitty Section were absolutely worried sick about Luka and Marinette, that all melted away with a bandmate group hug where everyone was thrilled to be together again.
"Oh It's so great that you two are ok!" Ivan cried almost dramatically.
Marinette sighed dreamily as she hugged all her friends close. "I'm so sorry I worried all of you; I needed to make sure the art club and my friends were safe."
"I understand completely!" Mylene cried. "I would've done the same thing for my plants."
Juleka took a moment to remove her bangs from her face before she looked at Marinette and Luka. "The two of you are like everyday superheroes."
Marinette blushed, but Luka took a moment to shuffle his feet.
"I just wish you two wouldn't scare me to death sometimes. And I am the one who has an addiction to horror movies!" Juleka cried.
Luka once again had to hold in his own grief for how he couldn't be completely honest with his friends, sister, mother, and especially Marinette. His sister was due for another tight hug, so he held out his arms for her, and his sister wrapped his arms around him and nuzzled her face against his chest.
But suddenly, Rose smiled and lifted her pointer finger.
"Let's not forget! We need to tell Marinette and Luka the good news!" Rose cried.
"Good news?" Marinette cried.
Luka also wondered what was up, and Juleka smirked in response.
Rose took a moment to prepare herself by walking over and clearing her throat. Then her blue eyes sparkled like glitter as she held out her hands.
"Luka, Marinette, Kitty Section is getting its first big break!"

Ask HC: for those of you who have decent relationships with your dads, any special plans for Father's Day?
Ladybug: “You’d think we’d get tired of spending the day baking, but that plus a mecha strike tournament is always a plus!”
Chat: “I-”
Half the group: “You don’t count!”
Chat: “........... Anyway. I was going to say that my father and I should be having dinner tonight and I’m going to convince his assistant to help me ambush him if he tries to get out of it.”
Rena: “We’re doing real simple. His choice for dinner and then a movie marathon.
Honeybee: “Things have been a little rough in the family, so we’re keeping it simple too on the whole ‘dinner and gifts’ thing.”
Bunnyx: “Actually my dad is kinda just.... Between it being father’s day and pride month and the fact that my brother has a lot of lgbt buddies who are not spending time with their dads, So if we end up at our favorite drag-run restaurant and pulling the ‘if you need a fatherly hug today here you go’ then.....”
Roi Singe: “Is dinner and gifts just default because same.”
Wolfhound: “I-”
Half the group: “Your dad is on thin ice.”
Wolfhound: “.... So I was going to say that I feel the same as Roi Singe because dinner and a gift is what I’m doing too. I think I might borrow Rena’s movie marathon idea if I can pick a few out.”
Talon: “My dad’s in America so I won’t be spending time with him. But I will make sure to call when the timezones are decent!”
Tigress: “Graveyard visit lmao.”
Viperion: “And then the awkward night of ‘oh shit you’re my bio dad how do we do father’s day???’ afterward!”
Pigella: “My mom and I love putting together a large bouquet from the garden!”
Petite Souris: “Unfortunately my dad has work tonight, but my mom and I are taking him to an early dinner before he goes on!”
Falun Feather: “I- don’t interrupt me you fuckers- I will be showing up to dinner and then bouncing to find Bunnyx’s dad.”
Capricorn: “I’m spending my time with my dad tonight but in a few days I’ll get to do it again with my stepdad!”

Trails of Light
Lukadrien Fluffuary (using this prompt list) Day 7 - Missing Them Prev | Next Read it on Ao3 Words: 1059 It had been four days. Four days since his husband went on a week long musicians conference in Berlin. Adrien had stayed behind. Unfortunately, even long after the Butterfly Miraculous had been recovered and his father had been locked up for life, there were still people in Paris who wanted to be the next big villain. Leave it to Gabriel Agreste to be the inspiration to those with evil in their hearts. The team knew if they needed Viperion, he could always make his way back. But Chat Noir did stay behind just in case there was a big battle. Besides, a week wasn’t too long right? Chat Noir ran his patrol route and didn’t see any sign of trouble. He knew others were checking out different parts of the city. When he stopped to check his baton, none of them had reported anything. “Claws In.” Adrien pressed his back against a chimney and held out a piece of Camembert. Plagg gulped down the offering. Then teased his holder. “Any particular reason you want me to recharge on a quiet night, with no sign of trouble, when we should obviously be going home?” “Thought I might do a little training with the space power up. It’s been a while since I’ve had to use it. Wouldn’t want to get rusty.” Adrien shrugged. “Oh puh-lease.” Plagg rolled his eyes.
“I can wait until he gets back, alright? I just miss him.” Adrien laughed at himself. He was being ridiculous and he knew it. “But why should I be missing him when I literally have superpowers and can fly to him? The city is doing just fine for now. I can be back in a flash if the team needs me.” “Not sure I believe you on the being able to wait bit.” Plagg rolled his eyes. Knowing the power up was coming. “The things I do for you.” Soon, Astrocat flew through the night sky. Green wings taking him closer to the one he wanted to see most. He turned to look back at Paris from afar. The lights of the city made him smile. Adrien loved flying like this, especially when there wasn’t some crazy villain to fight. Flying meant freedom. In his own life, he’d fought to gain his own. There was something special about living that metaphor. His thoughts had him soaring higher and flipping himself around. He had a spectacular view of the stars. When he turned back to face the earth below, he saw dots of lights— towns and cities scattered below. Then he noticed something else. Flying lower in the sky, he saw wings. They were a beautiful shade of blue and reptilian in nature. If someone caught just a glimpse they may think they were seeing a dragon. But Chat Noir was familiar with this particular set of wings. He swooped down excitedly. “Hey handsome! Having a good flight?” Chat Noir called out flirtatiously. Viperion turned to face him. His space power up glowing and illuminating his surprised face. Instead of responding with words Luka flew at him quickly and tackled him in a hug that had them both spinning around in the air. They laughed as they spun. “So…. I wonder which one of us gave in first?” Chat Noir pondered. “I mean it was just a week long trip and here we both are. I guess we just couldn’t wait to see each other again huh? Unless you were just running back to get something you forgot at home.” Viperion checked his sensors, they weren’t too high now. His faceplate opened. “If we have these superpowers and use them to help others as much as we do… Well, I think we should use them for ourselves too once in a while.” “Great minds think alike.” Chat Noir glanced at his husband’s lips but didn’t open his faceplate. “But maybe I don’t want to read your mind right now, M’love. Maybe I’d like for you to tell me what you want.” “My Muse…” His husband crooned. The leaned in and kissed the faceplate, leaving a distinctly lip shaped smudge. “I want you to get this out of my way so I can kiss you.” The part of Adrien that wanted to tease stood no chance against the part of him that just missed Luka. He let the faceplate melt away. In an instant Viperion’s lips were on his. They spun through the air again. Kisses littered with words of adoration every time they pulled back to breathe. It was several minutes before they settled down enough to actually have a conversation. “They say absence makes the heart grow fonder.” “Well, I’m fond of you when you’re not so far away. For the record.” Chat Noir sighed wistfully, cheeks flushed from the kissing. He made a wide circle around Viperion. Leaving a trail of green light behind him. “Oh I know, but I do like making out with you way up here.” Viperion said. Then he did some loops of his own. Flying around was fun and they didn’t hold back on their childlike wonder. Their joy and love unbridled so far above their worries. Luka looked back down at the magnificent view below. “It is so beautiful from up here.”
“You’re beautiful.” Chat flew into him again and resumed their kisses. /////////////////////// In the town below, several people had begun watching the strange lights above. A bright green and beautiful blue. The lights would move around each other before spinning. Then they would make loops as they flew together. It was dark, and the source of the lights were too high up to see the details of. “I think the magic lights like each other.” A little girl smiled up at the glow, fascinated by the colors trailing behind them. “Maybe the lights are in love.” Her parents looked up to where their daughter was watching. Sure enough the lights would meet up for a while, spin, then separate and fly around only to meet back with each other again. “How do you know?” Her mother asked. “I can just tell. The lights look happy together.” The girl smiled. No sooner had she said that, the blue and green trails of light that had been looping at random, formed a messy but recognizable heart. “You know honey, I think she might be right.”

I Don't Understand It
i don't understand it by fragileizy
“Did something happen?”
“I'm just having a moment.” Marinette puts her cup down and wipes at her eyes. “You know. Teen drama movie moment where the girl is crying at night and someone has to go talk to her. It's a cliche.”
“Cliche or no cliche, there's something bothering you,” Luka sighs. There's an arm on her shoulder, now, bringing her closer. She closes her eyes on instinct, enjoying the touch of his soft cotton shirt against her cheek, breathing in time with him. “And I know you've been upset the whole day, but you held it together well. No one's noticed, if you were wondering. I almost didn't. It's only now that you disappeared on me— on us— like this, and I… I want to know why. Or, rather, how I can help.”
“Nothing. There's nothing. Just PMSing.”
“I'm smarter than that,” he tries. “If it's not my business, just tell me. But don't lie… please.”
