My position on Fan Fiction/ Fan-Make
I've been goaded into actually formulating a policy about this, due to actually finding fan fiction of my work. This is a good problem to have! My policy, here goes -
I firmly believe that fan-creations are a sign of health for any artistic property. I am always flattered when people want to spend extra time in my world and with my characters. There are a few pitfalls here, however, and authors have different ways of addressing them. Here are mine:
Visual Fan Artwork
I am generally delighted by visual fan art (images, dolls, cross-stitch, sculpture, etc) as long as you state clearly in the description where the world and/or characters came from and you’re not trying to sell it without a license. I enthusiastically share fan art when I find it. You do not need a license from me to make non-commercial, appropriately-attributed visual fan art.
Fan Fiction
Text-based fan fiction is a stickier subject. I am not interested in writing in a shared world. My canon is off-limits until I am dead. When my work is in the public domain, knock yourselves out!
Legally, best-practice is for me to pretend not to see fan fiction. I admit that I don’t always do this. However, I am nervous about interacting with fan fiction or linking to it because it is a legal mine-field. I do not want to lose control of my copyrights. (That is my main fear – not that you’ll make money on my work, but that I will lose control of my copyrights.)
Bottom line: if you want me to feel really free to interact with your fan fic and share it with my audience, you need to get a license from me. That license will give you legal permission to create “derivative works.” The license will also say that anything I create that is influenced by your fan fiction is mine alone and I do not owe you money or credit for any ideals that may pop up in my own canon creations due to reading your fan fiction.
If you obtain such a license from me, you are street-legal. This said, I do not promise to read fan fiction, even if you license it. I do not promise to critique it or give writing advice. Fan fiction is a gift to other fans, not to me.
Monetized Fan Creations (here’s where I really differ from other authors)
I am quite tolerant of fans making money in my world as long as you get a license from me first. I’m probably not going to give you a license for text-based stories to be published on retailers. Those have potential to confuse my readers. However, I will happily give you a license for many other kinds of monetized fan creations, including text-based stories in some forms. Unless you are a company, I’m probably not going to ask you for royalties. You can keep whatever you make, and I will happily link your work to my audience.
Examples:
You can sell commissioned artwork of my characters to other fans.
You can sell artwork of my characters printed on merch in places like Red Bubble (t-shirts, mugs, calendars, mousepads, etc).
You can make monetized pod-fic as long as it’s not on retailers and it’s clearly labeled as a non-canon fan-creation.
You can share your stories or art of my world and characters behind a paywall or on a site with advertising as long as it’s properly labeled and my own content is linked.
You can make a game based on my world. (If you are a company or a large kick-starter-backed endeavor, I will ask for royalties, but I’ll be reasonable).
You can make a D&D manual (OMG, please make a D&D manual. I get so many requests for this. I have no interested in making a D&D manual, but I will share yours and you can keep all the money…unless you are a gaming company or a large endeavor with backers, in which case I will want royalties, but I will be reasonable.)
The things you can do are practically limitless. I don’t have time to pursue all the good ideas myself! I just ask that you get a license from me first and link your source material (my books). Email me: [email protected]
If you would like to listen to me talk about this topic at length, you can listen to this podcast episode, recorded 8/31/2024.

Based on this post. FACE and their skill and interest in the various arts.
VISUAL ARTS:
Arthur's skillset is in sketching and painting people exclusively. He's incredibly skilled, and some his discovered artworks (under Anon) are the subject of a lot of discussion in the art world. There's a gorgeous sketch of Alfred in a gallery that people have been obsessed with for a hundred years, titled by art critics as Beloved, because people (rightfully) believed Anon must have been in love with the subject.
Francis is an all-rounder in this area. Painting, drawing, ceramics and sculpture. Draws and/or paints beautiful men and women he meets throughout history. As a gag gift, every year, he chooses a random Nation and gifts them a giant nude painting of another Nation they've had a crush on.
Alfred prefers architecture and sketches the lead to inventions or building things. He is, however, amazing at capturing landscapes. TERRIBLE at drawing people. He's also a very skilled photographer.
Matthew has no interest in the arts, but does love it when Alfred gifts him little watercolours of the Canadian wilderness.
LITERARY ARTS:
Francis loves discussing and literature, but doesn't dabble as much in writing.
Arthur is the writer, and has published a lot of critically acclaimed works under a pseudonym. Mysteries, romances, fantasies - even poetry and a play or too. Ironically has been referred to as the modern day Shakespeare.
Alfred writes mostly research papers BUT does a great short story or general non fiction. He's also a great humourist in a very David Sedaris style sense wherein he's good at observing and writing about how people act without judging them - for example, he will recount a story about someone stripping in a New York subway and write something along the lines of "If I had decided to strip on the subway, I would have decided to do in June as opposed to December, just so I could give me fanily jewels the best chance to shine. His looked incredibly shy in the winter cold."
Matthew - once again doesn't have any interest, unless you count having a sharp tongue a type of literature.
PERFORMING ARTS:
Francis loves theatre and has acted a fair bit. He's also second only to Austria on the violin. Plays several other instruments, and taught both Canada and America how to play piano. Good at any dance you do at a ball.
Arthur goes to a lot of performances but doesn't partake (a big fat lie - he was in band and played lead guitar and wrote the lyrics. He also did backing vocals - he's decent.) Like France, good at any dance you do at a ball.
Alfred is so good at piano that Austria himself once gave him a standing ovation. He also plays the guitar and has a beautiful voice, though is weirdly stage shy. He loves going to the ballet and orchestras and musicals, and goes a lot with Francis. He loves swing dancing but can't dance anything else (refuses to learn to spite England, who started teaching America just as their relationship was souring).
Canada is an AMAZING dancer. It started as a way to prove that unlike his brother, he was NOT a troublesome student, and grew as he soaked up the attention and praise from England, but it also became something he truly loved. Was also taught piano at a young age but didnt really care for it. Good singer, but will only do it drunk or in the shower.

Have you ever took notice of the odd mural in the dining saloon. When Eyk goes to announce the change of course to the 1st class passengers, the first shot is of him with his back towards the camera and the crowd looking at him, and over their heads is this grey mural depicting what seem to be two giants (they appear to be giants to me, at least), the Earth symbol, and the vortex of water that Ling Yi witnessed. Have you any thoughts about that? It's too peculiar to not mean anything!
hi anon and thanks for the ask! here's the mural in question, on the kerberos:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and on the prometheus:
Tumblr media
broadly speaking, this is such a great example of the level of attention to detail on this show and how everything, from the writing to the costume and set design to the creepy music and sound effects, was so meticulously crafted to breathe life into this world and give us clues for how this story would unfold.
as far as the mural itself, it’s chock full of foreshadowing and references to greek mythology, but before we dive into that, it’s worth mentioning that the mural is a relief sculpture, that is, a piece of art where the figures project outward from a flat background. this sculpted marble look of the mural ties in nicely with the opening credits which shows the characters as statues:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and statues, of course, are a physical, three-dimensional representation of a moment suspended in time, which turns out to be the twist with all the countless repeating simulations. it’s such a small detail that, combined with all these other small, subtle details, really sets the mood and tone for the rest of the show. immaculate vibes, truly.
but back to the mural, here’s a clearer image that emily beecham posted on twitter (with a bit of color correction and added sharpness):
Tumblr media
you have the two ships, prometheus and kerberos, flanking the the triangle/earth symbol (with what looks to be parents and a child in the center) in the middle of a swirling vortex, which all foreshadow the ending where the failed simulations/ships are swept up in the vortex into the graveyard.
in each of the corners, you have a significant figure from greek mythology:
starting from the top left, there is zeus with his lightning bolt, who curses prometheus to his punishment in the top right, who is ultimately saved by hercules in the bottom left, who is depicted wrestling cerberus in the last of his 12 labors. in the bottom right is nyx, the goddess of night who is mother to hypnos (sleep), oneiros (dreams), and the moirai (the three fates), to name a few, and she is feared by zeus because she is older and more powerful than him.
and finally, you have the smaller figures scattered throughout of other people being swept into the vortex, referencing both the dead passengers from the mass suicide as well as the river styx, which dead souls must cross in order to reach the underworld. the figures in the river actually reminds me specifically of the scene in disney’s hercules and the visual is incredibly effective and striking in both cases:
Tumblr media
i’ve mentioned a lot of doom and gloom so far but rest assured there are some glimmers of hope as well.
prometheus is ultimately freed from his eternal punishment by hercules. after completing his final task of subduing cerberus, hercules is able to atone for his crime of murdering his wife and children. nyx also gave birth to aether (brightness) and hemera (day). and i have nothing nice to say about zeus.
i really love all these references to greek mythology that were woven into the show, and in fact, the story itself plays out as a greek tragedy on multiple levels as well.
if you take the ship story at face value, you have these tragic, flawed characters who are all trying to escape their own traumas who end up dying at sea while trying to help a sister ship.
if you look at it from the simulation level, the tragedy only deepens as you have these characters who are doomed to repeat the same simulation over and over again, failing every time, unable to escape their fates. it’s only at the end that it seems like maura may have broken the cycle, but there are also plenty of clues to suggest that she has only traded one simulation for another.
and of course, if you look at it from a meta level, you have this big-budget, ambitious show that was created by an acclaimed director and screenwriter duo that was well received by critics and viewers alike and was canceled with little explanation less than two months after its release.
i will never get over this so thank you anon for giving me another excuse to talk about this show.

You can call me Fyb (pronounced fib) for short, because I think that's a funny play on my blog url. I'm an adult millenial and any neutral pronouns are fine. I reserve the right to reblog NSFW stuff, though I don't do it often. I try to tag common triggers, but no promises.
I tend to be chatty in tumblr replies, but I'll stop doing it on your posts if you ask!
Side blog and tag list below the cut:
Side blogs:
@artyoubelieve is where I reblog visual art
@punklovescute is for cute fanart, especially #bubbline
@novelgazing is for #tlt stuff

Other tags:
#or discussion thereof - for meta; usually paired with one of the above
#misinformation - used mostly for posts that have wrong or misleading information at the top which is corrected further down
#new addition - used when I reblog something I've reblogged previously because there's been more added to it

Hello! Thank you for all your hard work. I was wondering if there are any resources for learning about how to make custom crafting stations in general, and I was also wondering how difficult it is in terms of modding abilities. Have my own sci fi setup that I wanna build crafting stations for, and I wan a know where to start learning. Thanks!
Hey there, long answer here, so I've divided it up into sub-sections. See below the cut
How to make crafting stations, a long explanation
Learning the basics
There are no tutorials for making crafting stations specifically. Honestly, the difficulty depends on your experience making custom objects, modding BHAV's, testing and the complexity of what you want to make.
The first thing you will want to start with is learning basic object creation, there are plenty of tutorials on every aspect of this. Remember: object creation is not just about SimPE! It also involves meshing and creating textures.
Then once you have a handle on that, you will want to learn BHAV modding. Resources for this type of modding are rarer, documentation can be spotty, but good places to start are Echo's BHAV tutorial @midgethetree's Resources page and @picknmixsims' Primitives page on his site.
Another good way to learn BHAV modding is to look at other people's code. See if others have made code that might be useful to you. Look at how they did it and try to understand why it was made this way. Screenshot a BHAV, label every node with what it does.
Seeing as you're interested in crafting stations in particular, you can take a look at custom crafting stations. A few you could look at are Nadira's Sculpture Manufactory at MTS or anything "descended" from Beck's crafting stations like @deedee-sims' Woodworking station, @nixedsims' Blacksmith Crafting station or @fireflowersims' Candle Crafting station. You could also look at our code for insights, though we do not support straight-up cloning.
The process
But, before you can get to actually making a station, it's important to get a good idea of what you intend to make. The planning stage is as important as the development. What will the station make? Will it require resources a la Sun&Moon? Money a la EAxis OFB stations? Or perhaps the only investment is time and motives? Each of these options are different in coding. And if it needs resources, you'll have to create those resources too. Can the action be interrupted? That'll add some complexity. Autonomy and/or trait options are other things to consider. We like to have the basics planned out before we begin coding in earnest. This gives us a good idea of whether we can do this with our current arsenal or if we need to develop some more parts.
What I've found useful in this stage is reducing the station down to its basic steps: sim goes to the station, does animation, x things get removed from their inventory, then y other thing gets added. This is a very basic example, most stations are more complex than that, but it can help you get a general idea of how to structure your code.
It's also good to remember that crafting stations are not just code... We put a significant amount of time into the visuals. Sourcing meshes and textures or creating them from scratch, mapping said meshes to look good with the textures, optimizing them so they perform well without sacrificing quality. It's an entire development process that takes time.
Testing is another important aspect. We test when developing new code, we test before we duplicate code, we test after we duplicated code. We have some amazing beta testers that help out a lot with this, but even then, things will probably slip past that'll require fixing later on. I cannot understate how important testing is.
Community aspects
When learning how to do any modding, especially BHAV modding, It's a good idea to find a Discord server with experienced modders to join up. @gayars' Sims Crafters is an excellent place for this, as is the PBK Discord. I have also heard good things about @lazyduchess' server.
The important thing is that you have a place where you can ask people for help; both with testing your stuff and figuring out how to resolve that stubborn bug. There is no shame in it, we've all been there. Do not expect people to fix all your issues for you - you'll still have to do the majority of the heavy lifting yourself - but they may just point you in the right direction. Just stay polite and be willing to learn.
So well, Crafting Stations involve quite a bit, but I highly encourage you to dive in and see what you can achieve. Remember: it's not a race, it's a journey. Enjoy the process, errors are your friends. Don't be discouraged if it takes months, so do some of our projects. Laundry took 1.5 years.
The best of luck!

16 and 21 for the fic ask meme
[from this meme]
16. At what point in the process do you come up with titles?
There are two possible times I come up with titles: either as soon as the premise lands in my head, or when I am staring down the draft on AO3 and about to post it. There is no in-between.
21. Have you ever deleted an entire scene after spending hours laboring over it? If so, why?
Here's my little secret: I don't delete anything anymore. Anything that doesn't work where I'm trying to put it gets copied and pasted into the very end of the document where the story lives, after about half a page of blank space from the last line of 'real' writing. Then I have it, preserved in amber, for if I get another twenty scenes in and realise that I need something and that thing that I cut out twenty scenes ago is exactly the thing I need.
(This happens more often than you might think. I completely cut about 2/3 of the final chapter of the road goes ever on, thinking I'd have to rewrite it from scratch. Nope! Just had to chop up those 2/3 of a chapter that I cut, rearrange it like a maniac with a corkboard and some red thread, and write a handful of interstitial sentences. And now it reads like it was always meant to be that way, and I can't even remember where all the stitches are. Ain't writing neat?)
To answer the spirit of this question and not the letter, though: yeah, all the time. Part of that is because I keep scenes that I cut, and if I really love them, I'll often find a way to work them in somewhere else (or into something else), so it doesn't feel like quite as much of a permanent sacrifice as it might. Part of that is because...well, have a story.
I'm a fresh baby adult. I have just recently graduated high school, and now the full weight of everyone's expectations of what I'll do with my 'potential' and everyone's disappointment that I don't have a clear, safe career path planned out yet are resting directly on my shoulders. I'm in a university art class. I'm very, very nervous, because I don't feel like a 'real' artist, because I don't feel like I belong here with all the good artists, and because I have a nervous perfectionist streak almost as wide as my entire body.
We are doing a unit on sculpture. I have never in my life done any sculpture, except for a couple of (extremely ugly) clay crafts in elementary school. We are assigned to take a rectangular block of styrofoam, and make an animal shape out of it. The kicker - we can't add anything to the block, only cut away.
I manage to make a reasonably decent-looking animal shape in my rough draft. But as soon as I try to translate it to the big block, it's immediately obvious that my design...lacks something. It's blocky. It's bulky. It's ugly. It looks...close to the shape of an actual animal, close to photorealism, but the fundamental rectangular-ness of it is so overwhelmingly strong. I'm carefully whittling away at the edges and the corners and the curves, scared to wreck it by making a big change, but nothing I do is helping at all.
Luckily, I have a very good art professor. Luckily, I have limited patience for fussing around with things that aren't working. (Luckily, I've been listening to MCR's Danger Days on repeat and it, especially the idea of 'Would you destroy something perfect to make something beautiful?', has been setting little fires in my brain.) Luckily, somehow, for whatever reason, I get fed up with nibbling around the edges and seeing no results. I get brave.
And I cut a deep curve into the side of my sculpture, cutting nearly half of the material away in one stroke.
The sculpture comes to life. The change is instant and obvious, and, more importantly, it's good. It's not anything resembling photorealistic anymore - if an actual animal was shaped like that, it would be very, very uncomfortable or possibly very dead - but it looks more like an animal than it ever did when I was going for 'realistic'. It has motion. It has visual interest. It carries the eye through the sculpture. And this massive improvement on the one side makes it suddenly extremely obvious where the rest of the sculpture needs similar cuts and angles to balance it.
I think I ended up getting a B or a C+ on that assignment. The sculpture turned out kind of wonky, with some angles that still didn't sit right. It was not a piece of timeless art. But that wasn't what was important. What was important was that I took a big risk, and got rid of what wasn't working, and it made something good. Something compelling. Something interesting. Something that, for all its flaws, I was much, much prouder of than the dull, safe thing I had been working on.
Sometimes, especially when you're just starting out as a writer, just starting to find your voice and feel confident in your work, every sentence feels precious and it feels dangerous to move or remove them, because what if you'll ruin it, what if you'll never make anything that good again. But if you're writing, it means you care enough about telling a story to try at it. Trying, and continuing to try, is how improvement happens. As Annie Dillard so beautifully put it, these things fill from behind. You will write something as good as that again. Many things, even. And even better things, so long as you keep plugging away at it.
And...you know your story. You know when something doesn't fit or isn't working, way deep down. The worst thing you can do for yourself is leave it where it doesn't belong anyway because you're scared of making a mistake.

i don’t think there are any new releases i’m interested in left so here’s my own 2022 ‘’’wrapped’’’ (that’s been ready since spotify’s) because the amount of times i listen to something isn’t necessarily related to how much they made a mark on me / whether i would recommend them so here we go:
2022 RELEASES
💿 “raving dahlia” (EP), sevdaliza — solidified her as one of my fav artists and the visual material related to it is quite compelling
💿 “redcar les adorables étoiles” (prologue), catq a.k.a. redcar
💿 “the happy star”, lexie liu
🎵 “looking for somebody (to love)” + “i’m in love with you” + “oh caroline” + “part of the band”, the 1975 — BFIAFL is a good, cohesive album but i miss the charm (and the length) of its more eclective predecessors
🎵 “kisé”, lous and the yakuza
🎵 “sculptures of anything goes”, arctic monkeys
🎵 “fascination”, tamino
🎵 “fils de joie”, stromae
🎵 “ciao ciao”, la rappresentante di lista — shook my ass to it in a small crowd of sciure at their gig, couldn’t skip it could i
🎵 “be sweet” (kor vers.), japanese breakfast feat. so!yoon! — loved the og so it was nice to revisit it in another language and with the addition of hwang soyoon’s voice
🎵 “look of love”, cho youngwook & the soundtrackings — from decision to leave’s soundtrack
DISCOVERED IN 2022
💿 “art museum”, lofibaby
and on that note their cover of sunmi’s tail with which they auditioned to superband 2
🎵 “stripped”, depeche mode — i’ve been nibbling at their extensive discography lately trying to get to know more than the handful of tracks i was already familiar with, this stood out
🎵 “i would die 4 u”, prince — which i discovered because i stumbled upon chvrches’ cover of it and they're both bangers
🎵 “to love somebody”, janis joplin
🎵 “long lost”, lord huron — all thanks to an ask game and @stigmate
🎵 “prickly pear”, portico quartet — thanks to paola again
🎵 “mile end”, pulp
🎵 “merry christmas mr. lawrence”, ryuichi sakamoto — from the soundtrack of the film with the same name
🎵 “orbit” (live @ AIR studios), nao
🎵 “i am in a period of desperation”, hiperson — it would have never got on my radar without @girlfaramir
🎵 “判 (suffering)”, meng meiqi

Andor should make me feel triumphant. I want to point to Andor and go see? See? This is what Rogue One would look like if it was actually a good movie! This does everything Rogue One pretended to do, this is what a gritty, morally difficult Star Wars story actually looks and feel like. It makes every smart choice where RO makes silly ones. It doesn’t waste its run time trying to fill in ‘plot-holes’ for other stories it just ends-up undermining and/or entirely missing the point of. It knows how to track a narrative with a solid thematic throughline. It understands how to characterize a droid with something other than Whedon quippery or beeps, the agony and difficulty of sacrifice, and how to hold-off on pointless, masturbatory cameos because god forbid someone goes twenty minutes in Star Wars without mentioning The Force. It knows how to make heroes difficult without outright degrading them. It gives Mon Mothma a personality, for Christ’s sake - a working personality! IT’S WELL-LIT AND KEEPS ITS CHARACTERS IN-FRAME AND WHEN PEOPLE PARK FAR AWAY FROM SOMETHING THEY DO IT FOR REASONS OTHER THAN CINEMATIC WALKING SHOTS. Saw Gerrera is there, and he’s audible and has comprehendible dialogue and character motivations! It has a villain that can balance compelling and watchable with competency and villainy, and never descends into a cartoonish parody of Stuffy Britishness. It actually understands empire and imperium—empire as a force, the difficulty of freedom, of what you have to give up for freedom—understanding not just why someone would do it, but the compelling reasons why they wouldn’t. What the cost actually is, for far more than just you. In Andor, when rebellion is kindled through an inspiring speech, it is speech that has been earned through the actions and lived experience of the characters, not simply a speech that happens because it’s the part on the story where the inspiring speech goes in That Kind Of Story. Did I mention Mon Mothma gets a personality? And perhaps the shittiest marriage in all of Star Wars? I think I hate her husband more than I hate Emperor Sheev Palpatine, and that guy’s done one or two problematic things! Andor does all of this without honestly doing much to make Cassian Andor anything other than the kind of dull cipher he was in his debut movie - because it turns out Cassian doesn’t have to be much of a person, it’s the world around him, the people around him, who matter, who make his world worth watching as he kind of stumbles through it looking alternatively grim or perplexed. Rogue One is a trompe l'oeil: a big, grand visual that looks like a real object until you touch it and discover the depth is an illusion, that there’s nothing there but a flat surface. Andor is a sculpture: the closer you get the more detail you see, the more depth there is to be found, you can walk around it and admire it from all angles. I should feel triumphant, but I don’t. I just feel frustrated, because Andor is showing-up everything else Star Wars has been doing for a while. Not every show can or should have the same tone as Andor—God forbid, how morose that would be. That’s what was happening with Star Trek until Lower Decks showed up to (eventually) remind people Star Trek didn’t have to be miserable and bitter all the time. I don’t want a Star Wars that never has any unquestionably good heroes ever again: there’s nothing wrong with something like the child-friendlier Rebels, and I’d go so far as to argue that most of Star Wars should be closer in tone to Rebels than Andor. No, Andor is frustrating because it lays bare the baffling fan fiction absurdity of Kenobi, the utter toothlessness of the Book of Boba Fett, the Mandalorian hobbling itself with the baggage of decades of Star Wars lore it started-off free from. It just rubs our noses in the the incalculable clusterfuck insanity of Rise of “Sheev Palpatine is back” Skywalker. And, of course, it finally pays the piper when it comes to Rogue One and its lumbering pantomime of complexity and depth. Andor delights me. It’s wonderful. Harsh, difficult and definitely not the tone that all Star Wars should try to be from here on out—but wonderful. Compelling. Yet it’s set a bar I feel everything else to come will struggle to measure-up to—if, indeed, they even bother to try. And if they don’t try we’re going to have Andor sitting there reminding us that Star Wars could be good, actually, if it was allowed to say anything meaningful without making sure it was marketable enough. Palatable enough. Hit all the feel-good moments and softened all its edges in one tidy package of inspiration and heroic sacrifice enough. That Star Wars could be good, actually if it actually broke the formula, rather than merely pretend-to while actually just reinforcing the status quo, be it politically or narrative-structurally. It’s the gauntlet The Last Jedi first threw-down—imperfectly, admittedly, with wandering focus and a truly awful second act—but a challenge all the same: things could be more. Star Wars could be more. We don’t have to keep doing the same story with the same overly-connected characters again and again and again. It’s a challenge that no one’s really picked it up again until Andor—Mandalorian looked like it was going to, but then it chickened-out and went and took refuge in Darksabres and plastic Lukes and really boring blocking from the overuse of LED screens. Andor broke the formula in such a big way I’m kind of surprised it was allowed to. And worried nothing will be allowed to again, expect as pantomime.

just for fun, while I’m thinking about them: the Justice League as a Stand Users
Clark - Call Me Maybe (summons a 5d phone booth with a variety of effects, including making Clark invulnerable, able to fly, laser eyes, hear over long distances etc. the Stand resembles a Superman robot at first but becomes more like Eradicator)
Diana - Policy of Truth (basically the lasso but able to extend infinitely and become thicker or thinner at will. Visually similar to Diana’s Kingdom Come Armor)
Bruce - Manhattan Skyline (a totally independent stand in the form of a giant bat that’s just as much help as hindrance. It looks like...I mean it’s a bat)
Arthur - Wave of Mutilation (UK Surf) (hydrokinesis and mind control, but only when the stand is submerged in fluid. The Stand looks like 90s hook hand Arthur)
Wally - Always Crashing in the Same Car (similar to his uncle’s stand Drive My Car, but more powerful with less fine control and allowing the user to access parallel universes as long as they can recreate the vibrations unique to those universes. Stand resembles the Flash suit with Jay’s helmet)
Kyle - Sculptures of Anything Goes (functions like a Green Lantern ring, but Kyle has a green clay he needs to physically mold into the object or concept he wants control over. Stand resembles an Oan)
J’onn - She’s Hearing Voices (telepathy, illusions, etc. Resembles a femme canon Green Martian)

My Goals so far:
Create a portfolio! ⭐ I'm still a student, but I've taken commissions before & I've been accepted to colleges, although I need a job rn. I wish to one day become a video game artist or tattoo artist or illustrator or graphic designer. Anything that has to do with art, I'm eager to try!
My Concise Opinion on Art:
Art is a skill, not a talent. Talent, in my personal opinion, doesn't exist. What people call 'talent' doesn't get you far. Talent might be your liking of the subject - the rest is hard work.
People never see the 90% of the work we put in, attributing it to talent, which, again, doesn't do much for you!
Art is a method of visual communication, a universal language, if done properly. Art is an illusion, and goes against nature, since you try to trick the eyes to see & imagine something while looking at a 2D plane or at a 3D sculpture.
Art is short for "artificial" - but that word means "made & designed by humans". Humans are the only species on earth capable of recognizing "art", and that is what makes humans ... human.
Tumblr media
My Fandoms:
[Tl;Dr] It's mostly video games... Although I'm known to like some anime / manga / manhwa occasionally + and older cartoons from my childhood.

[blurb written through the perspective of a stone bust: in which a sculpture admires the woman who paints it]
written by jaylin smith.
Tumblr media
I shiver under her gaze. It is intense, hard. Her eyes glimmer with frustration, passion, curiosity, an urge to see beneath the surface of my face and into my soul. She searches for my beauty as she attempts to recreate it with nothing but her visual perception and the long stem pinched between her bony fingers.
I see hers clearly. Her beauty, that is.
I could watch her for hours, days, just as she does me. I could write a book about each eyelash that curls upward above her dark iris, sing a song about the magical way in which the sunlight touches her golden skin as it leaks through the window and onto her crouched figure, providing the only source of light she gives herself access to when she perches herself onto that small stool and stares.
I wonder if her back aches. If her hands cramp up and neck seizes uncomfortably in its stretched, craned state. I wonder if when she retreats to bed each night, she winces in pain as she discovers cricks in her back that she struggles desperately to stretch away. I wonder if she suffers after she stares for hours, days, weeks. If she endures uncomfortable conditions to capture me on that canvas.
I would endure uncomfortable conditions to capture her. To take her place and watch. To place her before me and study her heavenly features.
She frustrates herself as an artist. Despite her omnipotent talent, her mind conjures horrible inaccuracies that send her jumping from her seat after tossing her wet brush angrily to the side, paint splattering the hardwood floors in the process.
She would step away for only a few seconds at a time, running her ringed hands over her face with brief, hefty puffs of air. She’ll turn around to circle back again, switching her gaze between me and the canvas. I can see her thoughts spinning, working to relieve her mind of her short-lived stress.
She sits back down, picks up the brush, and proceeds. Time and time again.
How much turmoil must I cause her brain each day, each hour, each week? How must I atone for my impact? I have no arms to embrace her with, no muscles to flash a comforting smile. My state restricts me from providing solace and relentlessly reminds me that I am nothing but stone in her way.
I fret over the irritation I arise until she settles back into her daze, gliding her orbs of chocolate brown over the structure of my crafted face.  I get lost in her gaze and forget that there was ever anything to fret over.
This beauty goes uncaptured, left to roam free about the world without documentation, without study, without its image hanging high up on a gallery wall for others to admire. This beauty that sacrifices her own to study mine. She is flesh, and bone. Cinnamon and vanilla. Browns, yellows, reds, and creams, and I remain the same. Stiff, blank, still and emotionless. She calls my immoveable plainness beauty and desperately aims to recreate it, yet I know that if she were sitting before herself in my position, she’d finally recognize her own unfathomable artistry, and that my own could not even begin to compare.
The curve of her thick brows, the subconscious twitch of her nose, the gentle nudge of pearly teeth sinking into plush lips glossed with saliva, a result of constantly and anxiously wetting them with her tongue. The bump in the ridge of her rounded nose and the kind sharpness of her jaw that is emphasized each moment she turns to dip her brush into a cup of turpentine and oil.
What incandescent, unfathomable, fascinating beauty.
Beauty that belongs in the halls of the Louvre, expertly crafted by the hands of the greatest names known to art history.
And even within the security of the walls of the most luxurious museum, locked behind the finest security and guarded by the finest men, no institute would be able to contain the unbridled, unfiltered artistry that is she. My muse.

All about Artwork
CHAPTER 1: THE ESSENCE OF ARTWORK
Artwork is a wide range of creative expression that has a huge impact on our culture and history. It's a way of expressing feelings, ideas, and different perspectives. In this chapter, we'll look at the different types of artwork and what motivates artists to create them. Whether it’s a painting, a sculpture, a photograph, or anything in between, art has the ability to move the human heart, move the mind, and change the world around us. It’s a visual language that goes beyond the boundaries of language, allowing people to talk to each other and connect on a deeper level. It’s a reflection of the inner world of the artist. It allows the viewer to see through the artist’s lens and see the complexity of the human condition.
CHAPTER 2: HOW HAS ART CHANGED OVER TIME?
In order to truly understand what works of art are all about, we need to look at how they evolve over time. From the Renaissance to the present day, this chapter takes us on a journey through different artistic eras, highlighting the changes in style, technique, and subject matter that each era brings to the table. Each era brings its own unique blend of artistic expression that shapes how we view and value art today. Art has always been a reflection of society, reflecting the changes in culture, politics, and technology in each era. From the timeless beauty of ancient statues to the cutting-edge experiments of 20th-century art, the way art evolves is a reminder of the ever-changing nature of human ingenuity. Knowing the reasons behind different artistic styles and the culture that shapes them can help us better understand how art evolves.
CHAPTER 3: THE ROLE OF EMOTION IN ART
Emotions are at the core of every great work of art. They're the driving force behind what artists create and what audiences respond to. In this chapter, we'll look at how emotions and art go hand in hand. We'll explore how artists use their emotions to tell stories and get people's reactions. From Romanticism's fiery passion to Minimalism's chill, emotion is the lifeblood of art. Emotions are used by artists to express feelings of joy, sorrow, fear, and hope. Through their work, artists invite viewers to join them on a journey of emotion. From the tranquil beauty of landscape paintings to the intense intensity of Abstract Expressionism, emotions are used as a means of connecting with and interpreting art in profoundly personal ways.
CHAPTER 4: THE INTERSECTION OF TECHNIQUE AND CREATIVITY
Artwork is a delicate dance between technique and creativity, where the artist's skill meets their imagination. This chapter delves into the technical aspects of various art forms, exploring how artists employ different techniques to bring their visions to life. From the meticulous brushstrokes of oil painting to the experimental processes of mixed media, each technique contributes to the unique identity of a piece. Technique, however, is not a rigid framework but a flexible tool that artists manipulate to serve their creative goals. The interplay between technique and creativity allows for innovation and the emergence of new artistic movements. Understanding this intersection provides a deeper appreciation for the craftsmanship and ingenuity that artists bring to their work.
CHAPTER 5: ART AS A REFLECTION OF SOCIETY
Art has long been seen as a reflection of the values, attitudes, and problems of the societies that create it. This chapter delves into the relationship between the arts and society, examining how artists interact with the environment to express social concerns, promote social progress, or express cultural identity. The power of art to influence and challenge social norms is undeniable. From the political satire of Goya to the social realism found in the murals of the WPA to the exploration of identity in modern times, art has a profound impact on society. Examining art as a mirror to society provides insight into the collective conscience of different periods and acknowledges the role of art as a cultural commentator.

❝I was wondering if I could get a tolkien and assassins creed matchup/ship. I’m female, she/her, 20, bisexual as hell, INTJ, and a new media artist (still in college tho). I’m 5’1 and a half with an average build, brown eyes, and black wavy hair till my shoulders. I wear clear cat eye glasses. I honestly don’t know how to describe my style cause it changes constantly depending on the vibe I’m feeling. I do however live for accessories whether it be butterfly hair clips, elf ear cuffs, arms stacked with bracelets, or rings on every finger. As for personality I am a MASSIVE introvert except for with my best friends where my unhinged side comes out. Despite being an introvert I’m very comfortable with leadership. I’m also quite thoughtful and contemplative just letting my mind drift off to wherever. I’m far from clingy and prefer to keep my own space even if I know you well. I can be a bit stubborn, and opinionated at times however. I’m a huge planner and hate when things go off schedule or when things are chosen abruptly. I also find it hard to start new things, but once I’m in the groove it's fine. As mentioned before, I am studying new media art. I love game design, 3d modelling, interactive design, visual effects etc. I also love art history, especially Pre Raphaelite Arthurian paintings, Italian renaissance architecture, Egyptian manuscripts and Greco Roman sculpture. For hobbies I love reading, gaming, binge watching, digital illustration, dancing, rollerblading, baking cookies, and listening to video essays/podcasts/audiobooks. My favourite genres are detective, classics, fantasy, folklore, mythology and lore from any of my fandoms. I love listening to music in a multitude of languages as well whether Arabic, Italian, French, Hindi and much more. Think that’s it! Thank you!❞ –@danzalladaggers

I ship you with James Kidd | Mary Read!
Mary finds it really cute how you collect lots of accessories and she’s no different with trinkets! She loves touring you around her little collection of seemingly meaningless things but behind each one of the story of the journey she collected them on. She wears lots of rings and earrings and such herself so he likes sharing them with you. James is drawn to your personality as he has a very similar one and so he enjoys that you’re not draining company to be around and you can keep up interesting and intellectual conversations with him!
Something about your relationship that feels very precious to Mary is how the two of you are very different people to those that you’re not close with; but with each other, you both completely open up and come out of your shells and it’s a welcoming feeling for her to know that you reciprocate her openness with you. You both have a tendency to let your minds drift off and so quality time is very important for the both of you! No matter what you’re doing, you tend to be in your heads a lot so it’s easy to bond just by being together, even if you’re just cuddled up in a private place chatting or thinking. James loves learning things about everything and anything and so really loves to watch over and question you when you’re working on your artistic projects; his questioning comes from a mix of wanting to learn and wanting to see that adorable passion in your eyes when you talk about the things you love. Your interest in detectives and mystery means that Mary loves bringing you along to solve those Mayan puzzles. Puzzle-solving is a hobby of hers and so she likes how you’re able to keep up with her pace and it’s even more fun doing them with you than alone!
♡ Mary likes to collect rings for you wherever she goes! It’s just a little thing that’s become a habit now: she goes out on a journey, she comes back with a story and a new ring for you. It’s a must-do for her now. She pays close attention to the metals and designs and colours that you like in order to make sure she buys ones that suit your style and shows the attention that she pays to you and your interests.
♡ As mentioned before, one of James’ favourite things to do with you is to just spend time with you, no matter what you’re doing. But his favourite is when you’re laid on his chest and he’s running his fingers through your hair while the two of you murmur conversations about all sorts of things. He likes to bury his face in the top of your hair and take in your scent while you tell him all about your interests and he does the same.
♡ Coming back to the Mayan puzzles, Mary likes to make it a whole date! She’ll bring you out somewhere she knows to a puzzle that she found but had to resist solving right away because she loves doing it together! She absolutely loves seeing your mind in action, she finds you beautiful both inside and out. She’ll bring along some food and will hang a hammock so the two of you can spend the rest of the day somewhere alone with a nice view where you can just cuddle and chat or read or mull over the puzzle, trying to solve it together.
♡ After a few drinks, James gets very very affectionate with you. He wants to get away from everyone and get alone with you because he loves you so much and just wants to show you that but respects that your introversion means you’re likely not a big fan of PDA (but if you’re fine with it, he’d still rather show it in private). She likes being Mary around you and letting you see all the different sides of her because it’s a symbol of her trust and how she truly means to spend her life with you. She’ll prop your glasses up on your head and over your face in kisses, leaving red lipstick marks over your face. James isn’t much of a dancer but this is also where he will indulge in your love for dance but it’ll have to be in private because he won’t have anyone but you see him dance.
♡ In short, Mary just loves you so much and she could listen to you talk forever and ever, she just wants to be in your presence and share everything she loves with you. You’re the person James trusts more than anything in the world and he really just wants to spend all of his life with you.
。・:*˚:✧。 tolkien
I ship you with Maglor!
Maglor was first drawn to you because of your love for art. It’s a common interest of yours. He may be a renowned musician but his father is a jeweller, blacksmith, his mother a sculptor. He was born to artists and so it’s no surprise really that he found an art of his own. His ideal date is taking you somewhere peaceful and private to play music for you or to browse around public art or galleries together. He could listen to you talk about all the paintings for hours, holding your hand all the while or wrapping an arm around your waist, a gentlemanly hand on your back; he keeps the public displays of affection low-key but he really does just love the warmth of you against him. He’s a romantic deep down and that little contact with you makes it feel like he has sparks dancing between his fingertips.
You’re both introverted and he’s aware that he has a big and oftentimes chaotic family so he actually prefers to introduce you to them bit by bit instead of all at once, starting with Maedhros of course. Typical of elves, he really likes putting braids in your dark hair. He even puts in accessories of his own – he has many circlets and clips and such. He’ll pause to lean over your shoulder every now and then as he waves through your hair to kiss your cheeks. When he first does this, he keeps the meanings of each braid a secret, but by the time you’ve been together longer, he tells you how they show that you’re his, that your heart is his and he wears equal braids to show that his own heart belongs to you too. Coming back to your love for music, he’ll compose songs in all sorts of languages for you too! He just loved putting a smile on your face with your shared interests.
♡ Maglor isn’t really one for planning, he always left that down to his parents or his older brother. So he likes to leave the planning down to you, always letting you take the lead and doing whatever he can to help you and make sure it goes smoothly. He’s very go with the flow: if it’s something he’s happy to do together then he’s very content to just do as you say.
♡ He once borrowed his mother’s studio for a date between the two of you. Whether you want to try your hand at sculpting or drawing or whatever takes your fancy, he makes it available to you. Meanwhile, the ellon has books stuffed with songs and poems and sonnets he’s written about you. He calls you his muse because that’s exactly what you are to him: he loves you so much and he needs to express that in his own way.
♡ If you couldn’t already gather, Maglor is a family man, he tries to get you involved in his family because he sees you as being a part of it. Seeing how you love your accessories so much, he has his father make some for you of Maglor’s own design and he gets hands on with the process too.
♡ When it comes to making gifts for you, he loves capturing your essence into them. He uses your favourite colours to make butterfly clips whose wings flutter and catch the light around you like a halo when you wear them in your hair. For rings, he always finds a way to make each one unique and unlike the last and yet matching so that you can stack them up as he’s noticed you do. They’re never boring or plain and you can always tell when he’s put hours of thought and effort into their creation.
♡ He really loves to just dote on you. One of his favourite ways to take care of you is to wash your hair for you. Whether he’s in the bath with you or sitting on a stool beside it, he loves being able to massage the soap against your scalp and condition your hair while ensuring no bubbles get in your eyes and rubbing your shoulders between rinsing out your hair. You’re really vulnerable with him like this and it makes his heart swell with love for you.
