Voice Acting Milestone: I'm in an indie game!!!

Greetings lovely people, I'm here with some exciting news! I'm voicing in my very first indie game roles! You can hear me as Lya's Guardian and one of the crystal voices in Glyde the Dragon!

This game just released a demo for free on Steam this week, and it's also got a Kickstarter for funding the full project. There's also an amazing original song that's produced by TechnoCinema and Kizakoto, two musicians that are both friends and people whose music I adore, and I highly recommend giving it a listen here. Seriously, it's gone directly into my inspiration playlist.

If you're into dragons and adventure, love a colorful cast of characters, and enjoy getting immersed in a fantasy world, this might just be the game for you! I'm told the gameplay is very inspired by Spyro and Devil May Cry. I haven't gotten the chance to play it for myself yet, but I've been enjoying streams of it from fellow voice actors who are on this project, and I'm absolutely enamored with this world. Still haven't seen where my characters and performances have ended up, so if you happen to find me, please, send me some clips or a screenshot, I'd love to see! I do plan on playing for myself at some point, time just hasn't permitted. This game is BEEFY, it has way more content than I expected a free demo to have, and oh boy are you in for a treat.

So many amazing people have worked so hard to bring this project to life. Some of them are voice actors and creatives I knew before this project, and some are people I'm meeting for the first time and getting to know as it's been worked on. And the community here is something truly special. I feel incredibly fortunate to not only be amongst such talent, but amongst such passionate people. I've dreamed of getting to voice in a video game for years, and to be able to say I've finally done it, that it's not just a far off dream, is incredible. I'm so happy to see people enjoying this thing. I've been sharing the steam page with my friends and Discord servers all week, and so many of them are playing it and coming back to me so overjoyed about what they're seeing. It's a dream come true.

But the journey isn't over. There's still a long way to go before this project is fully realized, and I'm excited to see that adventure unfold. Here's hoping you'll join us to see where the story goes next!

Is the phonecall bit at the beginning, with voice acting ,of the demo there still in the newest update or no? I always love hearing Cameron and Deja (especially always replaying to hear Cam,,,) at the beginning but this time I didn't so I was just wondering 👉👈

Not this time! But it will be in the extended demo. We had to do some new takes and some additional ones! Likeeeeeee the cast’s introduction scene in game :3

Something is definitely not right. You’re on an important quest, clearly, but your quest-giver seems to have neglected to give you any of the details. How are you supposed to go in prepared for this? They can’t really expect you to destroy something without any knowledge of what it is. What if you fail, and the world ends because of you? That’s too much responsibility!

VOICE OF THE HERO: I don’t know about that. We’re a hero, aren’t we? I’m sure whoever sent us here was confident we’d be able to pull it off, or else they wouldn’t have sent us. We’ll just have to brace ourselves for whatever happens, and everything will turn out okay.

VOICE OF THE MEEK: Should we really be going in just assuming everything's automatically going to turn out okay? I mean, not that I think it won't, but we could use a little caution, couldn't we? I'm with the big man. We don't even know what we'll find.

And he's... not. He might be right, though. A healthy amount of caution could go a long way. Maybe, if you're careful, you can pull this off.

Or maybe you're setting yourself up for failure either way. Only one way to tell.

(Explore) Doesn't this feel really suspicious to you?

(Explore) Let's go back to 'destroying it.' That sounds... dangerous. And violent. Is there any other way I can do this?

(Explore) I mean something's not right besides that. This world feels... off.

I think I'm with the heroic one. Clearly someone has faith in us enough to think we can pull this off. [Continue to the cabin]

I agree about the caution thing. Let's see what's in this cabin, and then we can figure out a plan from there. [Continue to the cabin]

Connecting Voice Actors With Animation Students

With the death of BTVAs casting call section my classmates in animation have been struggling to find voice actors for their student films. So I'm using my pool of influence and a specially made discord server to connect:

Special equipment and experience is NOT a requirement for actors.

NO PROOF OF ENROLLMENT is needed for animation students.

Actors get their name and socials in the credits of student films which, on rare occasions go viral. (Welcome To Hell was a student film made at my school. The director of the animation department actually voiced one of the protagonists.) This isn't a guarantee but even if the films don't make it big, it's something to put on a resume and shows agents you can work with a director and have the sort of voice people are looking for. While payment isn't a guarantee I am encouraging tips and at least one of my classmates mentioned wanting to pay actors for a different project. In general, the animators are students, not studios. Adjust your project budget expectations accordingly.

Animators get voices. Lots and lots of fresh voices to choose from and the opportunity to make all sorts of connections with other animators and of course actors! I can't stress enough how great it is to have a voice in your head and know exactly which friend to call to make it a reality.
