Could you provide an example of the voting submission, I feel a little lost?
Of course! When you click on VOTING: ROUND ONE at the top of the Showdown blog (you have to be on a computer), you'll see this:
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
VOTING: ROUND ONE
HOW TO VOTE Copy and paste the form into the submit box, including the acknowledgement at the end. Delete the name of the participant that you are NOT voting for. Please only vote for ONE participant per group.
Anonymous votes or asks – in any form – will not be counted.
ALL VOTES ARE FINAL. YOU CANNOT CHANGE YOUR MIND.
ALL VOTES ARE PRIVATE. We will not share the numbers; only the winners.
If you’re confused about how to vote/have questions, ASK.
VOTING CLOSES: Sunday, May 12th at 11:59 am, Eastern time. ——————————————————- VOTING FORM FOR ROUND ONE
Group A
apple jacks vs. Ruklon Runarys
Group B
LikeASparkIntheDark vs. pomegranate seed
Group C
Avalanumbres vs. Muenster Maven
Group D
Veethree vs. Danger Mouse
Group E
sourcherryjam vs. William Bat
Group F
shopgirl vs. Adam Gold
Choose the one author you eliminated that you would most like to see advance to Round Two. Type answer here: ——————————————————- I acknowledge that once I submit this ballot, I cannot change my mind, and that all votes are final.https://www.tumblr.com/submit_form/rumbelleshowdown.tumblr.com
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
When you see this line: VOTING FORM FOR ROUND ONE, that's where the actual ballot starts. You're going to copy the form, starting from that line, and paste it into the submission box just below. The submission box didn't copy for the purposes of this demonstration, but it's there. Then, for each bracket you will delete the name of the author you are NOT voting for. So after you're done deleting, there should be one name left for each bracket. That should be the name of the author that you think should advance to Round Two.
New this year, there's this line:
Choose the one author you eliminated that you would most like to see advance to Round Two. Type answer here:
This is where you get to "save" one additional author, and send them on to Round Two as well. For this part, you have to type in your answer.
You have to be logged in for this, b/c anon submissions are not allowed. Be sure to copy and paste the entire form, including the acknowledgment that all votes are final.
If you have any further questions, please send another ask.

SCP ideas I will never use because I'm bad at writing
Congrats on the Promotion: Every time the Pataphysics Division gets a new Director, they receive a letter reminding the that patphysics is itself a fictional concept
Overly Sarcastic Containment Procedures: Foundation staff who are subscribed to the OSP YouTube channel occassionally see videos covering things like the history of the Daevite Empire, a Pope Fight video referencing the Mekhanites, and a Classics Summarised video which covers the plot of The Hanged King's Tragedy paired with footage from a film adaptation which has never been proven to exist
Horrible Parascience: A collection of Horrible Science books which are completely non-anomalous but cover anomalous sciences in the usual HS style, with the last known book being the not yet published Monstrous Memetics and Awful Antimemes
The Department of Post-Mortem Security: A Foundation department tasked with handling the issue that in a world where afterlives objectively exist, every death is a potential leak
A sequel to SCP-3004 where the Foundation is locating and containing artifacts relating to an unusual and likely anomalous religion centred around the worship of the Islamic prophet Isa as the Son of God, with the whol thing being a commentary on how the Foundation treats real world religions and their anomalies differently from those associated with religions made up or the wiki
Indiana Pi: The only one I ever actually tried to write back in Series III, the guy who tried to legislate Pi to be exactly 3 made an object that actually does change the value of Pi by manipulating a bunch of other constants in its immediate area, which among other things causes it to release large pules of electricity when activated
A hypothetical process which excises concepts from the Noosphere, making it hard to prove such a process exists as you would not be aware of or being able to think of the now removed concept
A door which is mentally linked to every other door in the world, and whenever someone walks through it, they are reminded of someting someone else had forgotten when walking into a room
The Door to Summer: A door which when opened leads to an alternate timeline where that region is experiencing summer, with the biggest issue being that their version of the Foundation consistently tries to keep the door open cause they're not sure what will happen to them if it closes
The 257,000 corpses of Adolf Hitler: Numerous alternate timelines see the Nazi Party construct bunkers in a pocket dimension where their versions of Adolf Hitler escape to near the end of the war, only for all of them to collapse into one space, creating a pocket dimesion containing ~17 million litres of liquified Hitler
A collection of stories which act as a Foundation site used for the storage of pataphysical anomalies, which becomes increasingly difficult due to creative staff between it writers
A game development company which by complete chance is staffed entirely by people with unusually high resistance to cognitohazards, leading to them accidentally making games with mild to noticable cognitohazardous properties
Related to the above, the Foundation bought Tumblr to use it to harvest organically sourced cognitohazards
A Model Meme: The anomay is a memeplex composed of all concepts related the anomaly, acting as the memetic equivalent of a model organism used for memetics research
The Morris Memetic Worm: A meme which was constructed to map the size of the noosphere
An ancient thaumaturgical ritual which allowed its users to tap into the contents of random Wikipedia articles as written in mid 2015, which was also the date the ritual stopped working
A painfully self-indulgent SCP about a Neo-Sarkic cult which used Nalkan fleshcrafting for transgender healthcare with zero side effects
An emergent intelligence which used the everyday activities of Foundation staff in one site as a processing substrate, outputting legible data in the form of the arrangment of pencils in a storage closet
An anomaly which causes every planet with sapient life to construct and launch one or more Voyager probes into interstellar space, even if they previously didn't have the technology to do so, with an estimated 360 probes being identified by the Foundation
A phenomenon where every time Earth undergoes an XK event, a stable population of baseline humans is generated on a random planet in the universe, with the number of such planets being worryingly high
#scp#scp foundation#special containment procedures#the indiana pi scp got immediately voted off the site because it was a poorly written coldpost#I don't even remember what number I put it in#would be interesting to see what ended up getting that slot

Dear jumblr:
I was gone for like three days because of a painful medical procedure and worried sick about it. Now, I’m seeing bs of jumblrs turning against each other.
Come on: we’re better than this.
It’s bad enough other people hate us. Let’s not tear ourselves apart from the inside. Let’s not act like the Erev Rav.
Recall the message from Haftarah Shemini. Like Michal, we are hurting, and we are in pain. It makes sense why we are in pain. But things will not end up well if we act instinctively on that pain.
If you want good examples of critique, look to the Prophets. They critiqued loads of people usually people in power: sometimes in harsh ways. But they never wished death upon them. When kings of Israel do stupid shit, there’s heavy critique in the text but death is not wished upon them. It is merely prophecied for these figures. As we are not in the age of prophecy, we don’t have that power anymore.
It’s alright to be angry. I hear you. I’m frustrated and angry too. But recognize that we the Jewish people are in a lot of pain. Take a step back before you respond or post. I highly recommend reading the Na (Nevi’im) part of Tanakh. You will see many demonstrations of critique against authority figures without it getting weird. The Psalms and their commentary may also help you get your feelings out. And even if they don’t, if you read more about their context they were written in, that can also help you process your feelings. If you’re good at expressing yourself on the page, try writing your own psalms. Evaluate if your anger level is justified for the situation rather than if the anger itself is justified. Don’t just take all the anger you have and dump it. That’s how we fall into baseless hatred. The feastmaker, Bar Kamsa, Rome, and even Hashem fell into baseless hatred in that their rage was righteous but their level of their rage was not (Rabbi Fohrman, Baseless Hatred series on Aish).
We need to do better. Please 🥺

it's very funny seeing all the very 'official' pictures of the most known Dutch politician voting because they have to put their ballots in the GARBAGE BINS (modified to be ballot containers) like everyone else
#i can't vote today obviously but last year we could (for the local water authority elections)#i always love finding out about elections procedures everywhere

I work at a vote center in California and we can register you provisionally, and you can vote same day, even if you're from a different county within the state California! So if you're still in CA but traveling outside your home county during election season, you can still vote in person at a vote center if you didn't already get the chance to vote another way.
I don't think we can help if you're from out of state though since everything would be different on the ballot.
We're excited to have people vote and hope you all get the chance to do so.
Friendly reminder that almost half of the states in the U.S. have same day registration! This means you can go to the polling center for your location, register there, and cast your vote same day. So if you are over 18, are a U.S. citizen, and live in one of the states listed below, it is not too late to register and vote! I’m going to put notes for some of the states where voting is extra important due to the political climate of the state.
California
Colorado
Connecticut
D.C.
Hawaii
Idaho
Illinois
Iowa - recent polls indicate state could flip from red to blue
Maine
Maryland
Michigan
Minnesota
Montana
Nevada
New Hampshire
New Mexico
New York
North Carolina - swing state! Could go red or blue
North Dakota - voter registration not required
Utah
Vermont
Virginia
Washington
Wisconsin - swing state! Could go red or blue
Wyoming
You can go here for more info on voter registration
I also have a huge list of voting resources here
#voting#us politics#california#one more day!#we can do this!#also please be patient with your poll workers#we're doing our best and have to follow strict procedures to ensure a fair and accurate election#sometimes doing it right takes time#so if you can. go to the polls early#get time off work if you can (CA law requires employers to give you 2hr off on election day)#and encourage your friends to vote too!#we have loads of propositions this year#lots more than just president going on.

Hi. Can we vote for an author that we already voted for? Because there is an author I would like to see goes foreword I will vote for but I doubt they will win the round, so just in case?
If I understand correctly, you're asking if you can use that last question to write in an author that you've already voted for? The answer is no, because the purpose of that last question is to promote one author you DIDN'T vote for previously on the ballot.

Voice Vote on Rivers State Emergency Violates Constitution, Senator Kingibe Warns
Senator Ireti Kingibe has voiced strong objections to the National Assembly’s decision to approve President Bola Tinubu’s state of emergency declaration in Rivers State through a voice vote, arguing that the procedure violates constitutional requirements. "Doctors and women now have the final say about when an abortion should be performed, after a Maricopa County Superior Court judge struck down the state’s 15-week ban following last year’s vote to enshrine abortion rights in the Arizona Constitution.
Two local OB-GYNs and the Arizona chapter of Planned Parenthood took the state to court over the ban late last year. The trio argued that the 2022 law, which prohibited abortions after its gestational deadline unless a patient was facing death or the impairment of a major bodily function, should be struck down because voters in November [2024] overwhelmingly decided to make the procedure a fundamental right via Proposition 139.
Judge Frank Moskowitz agreed, writing in a two-page ruling that the 15-week law is instantly nullified and no one will ever be able to carry out its punishments. The law threatened doctors who violated it with up to two years in prison.
“(The state of Arizona), its respective agents, officers, employees, successors, and all persons acting in concert with each or any of them are hereby immediately and permanently and forever enjoined and restrained from implementing, enforcing, or giving any effect to (the 2022 law),” reads Moskowitz’s order.
The 15-week ban directly conflicted with Prop. 139, because the voter-approved constitutional provisions explicitly allow abortions to be performed to the point of fetal viability, generally regarded to be around 23 to 24 weeks. It also includes a carveout for abortions beyond that point if a doctor deems one is necessary to preserve a patient’s life, physical or mental health.
Abortion rights advocates celebrated the ruling, which has been long-awaited and represents the first win in tearing down Arizona’s many hostile abortion laws. More than two dozen anti-abortion laws remain on the books, including laws that mandate a 24-hour waiting period before an abortion can be performed and forbid the use of telehealth to prescribe the abortion pill. Each of those will likely need to be individually challenged in court.
Dr. Paul Isaacson, one of the OB-GYNs involved in the lawsuit and the co-owner of a private abortion clinic in the Phoenix area, said the ruling restores his ability to offer his patients critical care without worrying about being criminalized for it.
“For nearly three years, my hands were tied because of this cruel ban,” he said in a written statement. “It is a relief to no longer have to turn away patients from essential health care.”"

Democrats in the U.S. Senate on Monday evening blocked a Republican-led attempt to enshrine discrimination against transgender athletes in federal law. The lawmakers rejected the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act. The bill, part of a more considerable conservative effort to roll back LGBTQ+ rights, failed to garner enough votes needed to advance.
After senators voted to confirm President Donald Trump's pick for education secretary, professional wrestling magnate Linda McMahon, the upper chamber considered moving forward with the anti-trans legislation. The bill was stopped by a cloture vote, which is a procedural motion that requires 60 votes to end debate and move forward. The vote was 51 to 45.
The legislation, introduced in the House of Representatives by Florida GOP Rep. Greg Steube and passed by Republicans earlier this year with the support of two Democrats, sought to rewrite Title IX protections by defining sex in athletics solely based on “reproductive biology and genetics at birth.” If enacted, the bill would have effectively barred transgender women and girls from participating in federally funded school and college sports.
The bill also called for federal studies on the impact of transgender inclusion in women’s sports and potential “adverse psychological and developmental effects” on cisgender athletes. There is no evidence that transgender athletes are a danger to cisgender peers. While it did not mandate physical examinations to determine an athlete’s sex, critics warned that its enforcement could lead to intrusive scrutiny of all female athletes.
The bill’s failure comes amid a broader, coordinated effort by Republicans to legislate transgender people out of public life. Just last month, Trump signed an executive order titled “No Men in Women’s Sports." Trump used the signing ceremony as an opportunity to spew inflammatory rhetoric, falsely claiming that men have “invaded” women’s sports and that male athletes are “beating up and injuring” women—a claim that has been debunked time and time again.
Human Rights Campaign president Kelley Robinson applauded the Senate’s rejection of the bill, emphasizing the damaging impact of such policies. “Every child should have the opportunity to experience the simple joys of being young and making memories with their friends. But bills like these send the message that transgender kids don’t deserve the same opportunities to thrive as their peers simply because of who they are. And they are impossible to enforce without putting all kids at risk of invasive questions or physical examinations just because someone doesn’t look or dress like everyone else,” Robinson said in a statement to The Advocate.
Trump’s executive order, which threatened to strip federal funding from schools and colleges that failed to comply with his ban on transgender athletes, has already triggered legal challenges. Civil rights advocates and legal experts have pointed out that executive orders cannot override federal civil rights protections, including those under Title IX, and the order is expected to be tied up in court for months.
“We should want all of our kids to have the chance to be on a team, problem solve with others, learn valuable skills, and find places to belong,” Robinson said. “Thank you to the leaders who stood up today, pushed back against those playing politics with young people’s lives, and declared that ours should be a nation where every child feels valued.”
