A thing I like to make besides comics is custom cassettes, sometimes! I made the Omega-3 tape for a friend a while back, but I JUST now got around to making the Dedf1sh one recently after meaning to for A Goddamn Minute

The Acht tape is a continuous mix @ardnin made and posted to Youtube, I've been in love with it for ages and if you're into weird Splatoon music you ought to give it a listen here.

The best way to listen to cassettes is in low quality, of course, so here's a short video of the Dedf1sh mix through my oldass walkman and my newass headphones.

Something I’ve been thinking about lately is that small moment in “Air Turtle” where immediately after the Daves lose yet another game, Leo says how sorry he is and how he’s doing his best as the mascot. This moment is so short but it’s honestly jam-packed with a whole heap of characterization.

His need to apologize for things clearly not his fault - especially when it feels like he messes up the job he was given despite doing the best he can (the phrase “it’s not about you” takes a new meaning when this is one of the lessons to be learned from that - that he is not always solely responsible for things going wrong), his need to save face and make a connection with an older adult man in his life (something he consistently does throughout the series - he’s got a few daddy issues, always collecting potential father figures, it’s no wonder he jumps at the bit to keep rapport), and the way he sounds and looks and the words he chooses really pushes how he is just a kid (“Mr. the Dunk, I’m so sorry”).

Like I know it’s a one off moment that doesn’t truly mean much, but when put against the rest of the series it works really well with the rest of Leo’s established character and helps in solidifying later concepts as well.

Phil: Daedalus! Oh you - Oh it’s just reminded me of something, f**k. Ok Chat, quick heads up, it’s lore, it’s about lore. I was gonna have a line that I was gonna say, and I couldn’t say it because I was getting choked up when I went into Techno’s house. I was gonna talk about -- I was gonna mention very briefly about the code name that Techno gave me, “Zephyrus”, and how I initially wanted “ Daedalus” because I thought it was more appropriate. I was like “ Daedalus is probably --” like, I pitched Daedalus to him, and then he said, “No, I like Zephyrus.” [...] He was like, “Zephyrus suits you better.” So now you know, I was gonna say that, and then couldn’t. Amongst other things. It just reminded me, just seeing the name.

IT'S FINALLY DONE! :D Here's an 8 page comic of one of the very very beginning scenes of The Hollowridge Disaster: the moment Knife and Adri meet Dianne.

Having done this comic means a lot to me for a myriad of reasons, but the main ones are that I really wanted to get better at paneling and do more interesting texture work. And, this is also both a homage to my older HR comics, and my (successful!) attempt at getting back into making comics for this story, so it truly feels like I'm in my prime with it and it's finally somewhere that I am immensely proud of :] so please enjoy this scene in quite literally all it's glory!

[Disclaimer: this is a standalone scene (of a larger story), but it's not the beginning of a long form comic. Currently I have no plans of doing that, but I would like to do more of these short ones! ]

I am so so happy that @saltsprite commissioned me to do this pair of drawings for their fic curiouser and curiouser - which is an absolute delight and I cannot recommend it enough! Boba getting fierce little Baya to love on, and be lovingly bullied by to take better care of himself is the most precious thing ever and you definitely need it in your life too!

OH I THINK I JUST REALIZED WHY THE CAMPERS FROM CAMP HALFBLOOD WEAR ORANGE SHORTS SPECIFICALLY

They live in a valley surrounded by forest

And they have their own little monster-filled forest inside the boundary line

When hunting you want to wear bright fucking orange, bc it can get really dark in the woods and most other colors will start to look black or brown

Plus, bright colors, like that specific shade of orange, don’t normally occur in nature, and especially not forests.

It’s safety, so you don’t accidentally shoot a human person instead of an animal. Deer and shit are colorblind anyway so you can have your Real Tree Camo over an orange background and it’ll work just the same

Some people wear bright red, thinking it’ll be fine, but I heard a story from one older guy who almost shot someone bc it was early in the morning, they had a turkey call, and their red shirt looked brown

The campers wear bright orange t-shirts so they can find each other if they can lost in the woods, and so they don’t accidentally mistake someone taking a walk for a monster and loose an arrow in their head

it also occurs to me that since demigods have to do quests and shit and might have to be in the wilderness for a while they should teach the kids how to hunt for food and prepare it to eat so they don’t starve bc they can’t find a McDonald’s or something

The fact that a huge amount of information on platforms like tumblr, instagram, and apparently also tik tok is now shared as screenshots of text instead of—you know—the text itself, which is easier to read and can also be scanned by screen readers, makes me want to burn down the internet.

Tumblr is a platform where you can actually make text posts! There's no character limit! Just. Put. The text. There!

Instagram is for photos, not fucking essays!

Tik tok is a video platform, so why the fuck are people sharing screenshots of Tumblr posts (without even linking to he original post, naturally) set to music and calling those videos?

I don't understand why so many people look at extremely limited (as in they have a very specific function and are not intended to be used in any other way) apps like instagram and tik tok, and go "Ah, I will now use this platform to convey information in the most convoluted, least accessible way possible."

Just?? Use a platform that's actually friendly to whatever kind of info you're trying to convey???

I'm sure there are all kinds of factors involved, especially when people are so driven by views/likes/whatever on one platform, but this trend has made the internet so much less user-friendly and accessible. It's like trying to eat soup with a butterknife, while also taking away other people's spoons and making them use butterknives as well.
